    Awesome gaming monitors

I purchased one of these monitors while building a gaming PC for online racing. These monitors can be used in a brightly lit room and still appear bright. The picture quality is extremely good. The refresh rate is amazing. These monitors have stood up to everything I can throw at them so far. I don't know if there are better out there, but it would be tough to beat this monitor, particularly at the price.

    Fast and good quality

I bought this game monitor for my son. This one is much better than the previous ones he used. It’s very fast and the graphics are really clear. Files are easily downloaded on this computer. He hasn’t had any issues with his game quality so far, so it’s been very good.

Great gaming monitor at this price!

A week of use works perfectly so far. I’m really satisfied. I did some searching and found out this monitor is best fit for me. What I was looking for was 1440p at144 hz. This monitor is capable of 165 htz using the display cable. It also has a very good color spectrum @ 120% sRBG and HDR 10 and HDR for gaming and it even has a console setting. The screen has a matte finish so you won't have a lot of glare but as you can see there is some. I uploaded photos of the display with the blinds closed. The photo directly in front of the monitor is the best with very little glare and is exactly where I'd be sitting at while gaming. I don't like very bright monitors or TVs and I don't game with the lights completely off as it strains my eyes. So out of the box I liked how bright it is.

I'm very pleased with my purchase and I highly recommend the monitor to everyone. Like I said it has a ton of features I was looking and at an excellent discounted price.

    worth buying

If you want the ultimate gaming experience, you can’t go wrong with this PC monitor. At 27inches, it’s exactly the right size for my gaming needs. It’s compact to fit perfectly on my computer desk along with my gaming console and still has room for other miscellaneous things (i.e. snack and drinks). The picture quality it delivers is astonishing; vivid colors as well as great details on the images. Whatever I’m playing feels as if it’s jumping out of the screen. I currently have it sitting on my desk attached to the monitor stand. I’m contemplating mounting it on the wall for even better view pleasure. Might update once finished.

Awesome buy- better than my Old BenQ XL series

Great Monitor, like it better than my BenQ XL2546.

Fast response time, 240 FPS (also can overclock) and most importantly it’s an IPS panel so colors pop way more than a TN 240hz panel.

The motion blur is great without the PureXP mode as well. Plus after reading about PureXP, it’s best to use that with other games that you get 144 or below FPS for crystal clear motion. I tried it out and it’s amazingly clear. It does come with a bit of input lag though and it dims the Brightness- so there are some draw backs.

The 27” screen 1080P doesn’t bother me at all and I kind of like it more since it makes objects Pop more. Definitely recommend.

Heard there is a new version of this monitor coming out soon. Hopefully it doesn’t make this one irrelevant.

    Absolutely Great Monitor

Bought this a week ago from BB when on sale for $399. I have a powerful gaming rig that can do 2k-4k but opted not to cause I like frame rates and smoothness and 1080p doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Coming from LG 75hz IPS this monitor has not disappointed. I'm not even using Gsync or Pure XP mode and I have no screen tearing or stutters and the image is fantastic.

Shooters now have amazing clarity just on default. With PureXP on, it's even sharper. Colors are fantastic, of course because of IPS panel. Some reviews claimed the HDR was weak in contrast and brightness but when I switched it on in Windows, no calibration yet and watched some HDR content, it was lit up like a Christmas tree. Made my eyes hurt it's so bright. Colors are extremely vivid. I had to tone it down from 50 to 30.

Well built, doesn't feel cheap. Nice metal stand with telescoping and 90 degree so you can play your pinball games or other arcade Mame games correctly. Headset rest and mouse tether built in ( man I love this) and 2 optional side blinders come with it to block glare from windows if you need to use them.

The monitors RGB also syncs to a Cooler Master case so you can mimic what you've set on your case if you like that sort of thing.

The input lag is non existent even if you set it at Standard. I'm EXTREMELY preceptive to input lag from gaming consoles and PC usage on bad monitors and tv's and it is non perceivable from Standard to Fastest. I Play Planetside 2 which requires high accuracy and reaction especially at medium to long distances and have no issues at all, even with Gsync enabled.

If you want constant bias lighting from the rear rgb, you will have to either set it from the case software or download the monitors software as the presets in the monitors settings are limited to just on/off/breathing and strobe in specific colors.

plenty of inputs, HDMI 2.0, Display Port 1.4, earphone and actually decent 3w speakers that are above average for a monitor if you ever need back up.

It's really a great monitor. Be prepared to spend the first few hours playing games and playing with PureXp and then Gsync cause it's a different wonderful experience using both.

One note if your not familiar with IPS monitors: They have the best color and image and are much more advanced with refresh rates and input lag than years ago compared to TN and VA panels but there is an IPS glow effect in the corners which is because of the angle of the pixels to give you that IPS image. If you move your head in front of the corners, it's not visible. You can only see this on a pure black screen if you are in total darkness, which is not how you use IPS monitors. For this, setting the brightness down masks it a lot as well as setting it on a n ECO mode, which I use 24/7.

There's small, really small, lighting increase in a few spots on top and bottom in the same 2 places that is not a defect. If you move your angle to eye level with it, it's not visible. It's inherent of the tech and backlight bleed is in every form of panel tech. You can only see it if the brightness is cranked. Under normal PC usage and in games, none of this appears and none of the image is washed out in those places. You can return monitors and try again but panel lottery with monitors and tv's are a crap shoot. Could be worse from what I've seen posted from other monitor manufacturers.

    Excellent gaming monitor

If you are a competitive gamer and shopping for a new monitor, you will want the highest refresh rate and fastest response time. Then, the BenQ ZOWIE XL2740 can meet demands of professional gamers. The Zowie comes with two shields screwed into 2 sides of the monitor. They are supposed to block light sources hitting from the 2 sides and help us concentrate on gaming. The accessories are not really important for me because most gamers have set up their system with controlled lighting conditions. However, the shield might be helpful in Esports environments. Another accessory is the S-Switch control which helps us quickly access monitor menu, switch between 3 saved color profiles, and change the input. BenQ ZOWIE XL2740 27″ 240Hz Esports Gaming Monitor Review

If you are a competitive gamer and shopping for a new monitor, you will want the highest refresh rate and fastest response time. Then, the BenQ ZOWIE XL2740 can meet demands of professional gamers. Let’s check it out.

    Unboxing Video

    Design & Features

The Zowie comes with two shields screwed into 2 sides of the monitor. They are supposed to block light sources hitting from the 2 sides and help us concentrate on gaming. The accessories are not really important for me because most gamers have set up their system with controlled lighting conditions. However, the shield might be helpful in Esports environments. Another accessory is the S-Switch control which helps us quickly access monitor menu, switch between 3 saved color profiles, and change the input. If you want to adjust more monitor settings, you can use the buttons on the lower right of the display to access OSD menu. The XL2740 is equipped with some dedicated features for gamers like Black eQualizer to increase the visibility in dark scenes, some game modes, and 20 levels of Color Vibrance settings. The color reproduction is terrible in those game modes, but they will absolutely help improve your gaming performance. The BenQ monitor has full-HD resolution only, so the image is not crisp and clear as 4K monitors. If you use the monitor to view images, read news, or watch movies, you can recognize the low pixel density when looking at the screen closely. However, the image looks much more acceptable when playing games. I am not aware of any significant pixelated image when gaming. The refresh rate of 240Hz doesn’t have much meaning for normal usage. You can see smooth movement when scrolling websites or moving objects on your screen, and those are all. The only disadvantage of the monitor is the TN panel. It has limited viewing angles, uneven backlighting, and poor color reproduction, however, those are what you have to sacrifice for the 1ms response time and 240Hz refresh rate. Besides, the input lag is measured at just 4ms which is pretty impressive.

    Pros

    - Refresh rate, resolution, response time and input lag are optimized for gaming

    - Fully ergonomic design

    - Plenty of gaming features

    Cons

    - Hefty price tag

    - Poor color reproduction and viewing angle

    Seriously Stunning ASUS Monitor!

ASUS has done it again! If you are looking for a solid gaming monitor with adjustability and customization in mind, your search can stop here. After using this monitor for a couple of days, this monitor has been truly remarkable. The 27-inch antiglare full HD display with 1ms response time offers a gorgeous gaming experience. The IPS panel provides incredible viewing angles as well as fantastic colors. You can also overclock the monitor to a whopping 280Hz refresh rate! Great for next-gen consoles. In this review, I will go into more depth on why this monitor may be for you.

    *TLDR at bottom

    =====================================================================================

    IN THE BOX/SET-UP:

In the box, you will receive a tightly packed 27” monitor, monitor stand, the AC adapter, power cable, HDMI cable, DisplayPort cable, set-up sheet, and warranty guide. Set-up does not take long at all, all I needed to do was to attach the monitor stand to the monitor, plug in some cables, and I was ready to go! Before doing anything, I also played around with the display settings which I will go into more depth later.

    =====================================================================================

    ADJUSTABILITY/PHYSICAL FEATURES/SOUND:

This ASUS monitor is adjustable. Height, horizontal viewing adjustment, vertical viewing adjustment are all some of the ways to adjust the viewing angle of the monitor. This monitor can also be adjusted to be placed vertically if you so desire. This maneuverability is great as it makes it easier to add other monitors into the mix.

The monitor contains several ports. It contains 1 USB port, 2 HDMI ports, 1 DisplayPort, and a headphone jack. The monitor also contains a tiny analog stick and buttons to get around in the display settings. By clicking down once on the analog stick you get a list of all the adjustable settings. The first button is for canceling/exit, the second button opens the “GamePlus” options. Here you can add an overlay of the refresh rate, timer, and more. The third button opens the “GameVisual” options. This allows you to select from a list of various visual modes such as scenery mode, cinema mode, FPS mode, and sRGB mode. I mostly used sRGB mode for games and wow, this mode does an excellent job at bringing out the colors and visuals the developer wants you to see in games.

The monitor does contain 2-watt built-in speakers. This is probably the worst feature on the monitor. Understandably, most monitors do have terrible built-in speakers, and this one is one of them. I would recommend using headphones or having an external speaker for sound.

    =====================================================================================

    DISPLAY QUALITY/FEATURES:

This Full HD display delivers wonderful resolution when gaming. The monitor does a terrific job at displaying vivid colors whether I am gaming, watching videos, or completing work. The bezels are minimal as well which brings out the display even more. Like I mentioned before, I mostly used the display in sRGB mode. This mode seemed to appear the best for most games. I did play around with the other modes and enjoyed how each mode did enhance the game visually regardless of whatever game you were playing. FPS brightens colors more, so you’ll be able to spot your enemies from afar. Cinema mode darkens the display and adds a filter which is great for when you want to watch a film or video. To sum it up, each mode is different from the other so play around with them all to find the best visuals for whatever you are doing.

The monitor does contain many customizable features from image, color, to general gaming settings. This monitor can be overclocked to 280HZ which can be done through the monitor’s settings. There is also a shadow boost, which brings out the darker colors for those dark games. I played Alien: Isolation and thought having this feature was a godsend since most of the game is played in dark areas and is downright terrifying if you’ve played it. You can also mess with the general contrast and color settings such as color temperature, saturation, and skin tone. There is also the option to save your customized settings into a save spot. (4 spots available) Another feature I thought was nice was the ability to lock the monitor’s controls. This is done by holding the first button for 5 seconds. To disable it, you do hold the same button again. Great to stop people from messing with your settings!

    =====================================================================================

    CONCLUSION/TLDR:

To conclude, this monitor is truly stunning. The adjustable Full HD monitor with the IPS panel allows for some amazing viewing angles and 1ms response time did indeed bring out quick performance. Some of the most notable features the monitor has is the ability to overclock the monitor to 280Hz, shadow boost, “GameVisual” modes, and the ability to save different monitor settings into save spots. (4 spots available) The only downside with the monitor was the built-in 2-watt speaker. The speakers are terrible, and I do recommend using headphones or an external speaker. If you need a new gaming monitor with customization, and adjustability in mind, I wholeheartedly do recommend you try this one out.

    Massive Contrast Ratio 100M:1

I really like this 27-inch antiglare WLED monitor. The 'new' age will be a higher resolution monitor, with games getting to be more and more realistic, so that would be one thing to keep in mind, if a higher-resolution is something you want. This has a 1920x1080 max resolution, so it is on par with most things nowadays. The 100,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ration is massive, compared to the 1,000:1 standard ratio. The black picture is quite crisp.

I did have to tweak the image some, but noticed some options for different types of viewing. For example, when I am watching my movies, I can select "Cinema Mode." For games that require fast movement, you can select "Racing Mode" and so on. Click the buttons on the bottom right side of the monitor to get the menu. Not ideal, since most are on the bottom, so dual monitors allow easy use. There is a shadow boost setting that makes it more clear when dark images appear. In games, I don't want to see the images blown out, but I also like to see more details that will help me see people in the distance, faster than I could make out anything in a lesser monitor. The speed is great, so no lag at all. I wish I could rotate the monitor like a swivel, but you have to take the monitor off the stand, and then put it back on, to rotate. Other monitors you can just rotate, and it snaps in place, but this one can do it, but just takes a little more effort, and not a quick rotate and change your computer display settings.

    Total pre-set display options are:

    -Scenery Mode

    -Racing Mode

    -Cinema Mode

    -RTS/RPG Mode

    -FPS Mode

    -sRGB Mode

    -MOBA Mode

This monitor does have small speakers in it, but you would never want to use them when gaming, as most people use noise cancelling headphones, or larger speaker.

There are 2 HDMI inputs on the monitor, and 1 Display port, and a headphone jack. You get 1 HDMI cable, and 1 Display cable, so you can choose which you use, based on your setup. The base is quite small, for a 27" monitor, so that is nice, when I have limited depth to my desk.

    Remarkable gaming monitor

ASUS is way ahead of the game industry with this beast of a gaming monitor. The ASUS TUF 27” IPS WLED FHD VG279 gaming monitor is the most impressive gaming computer monitor I have had the pleasure to game with. Overclocking with a savvy 280 Hz rapid refresh rate, 1 millisecond grey-to-grey response time, 1920 x 1080 FHD, NVIDIA G-Sync and shadow boost technology, which makes a huge difference in low-light situations, gaming in my house has never looked so crystal clear, colorful, and bright.

The monitor was simple to plug-and-play into my computer’s HDMI port and comes with the power cable, HDMI cable and DisplayPort cable. The monitor has two HDMI inputs, a DisplayPort input, headphone jack and standard USB. You can adjust the height of the monitor by sliding it up and down on the stand and rotate the monitor 90 degrees for a vertical view. The monitor with stand weighs a little over 12 pounds. I like the detail ASUS put on the back of the monitor; it gives it some gaming personality you do not see in other manufacturers. The bezel on the front of the monitor is slim and barely noticeable when you’re entrenched in gaming on the large 27” diagonal horizontal screen.

I have played several games on the monitor, as well as doing standard internet browsing, and the display looks incredible. It is very bright and has very dark blacks which is great for gaming. The refresh rate is so fast I could not see any drag or lag in the screen. I took a picture with it next to my newer gaming laptop and you can see the difference between the two monitors, especially when looking at it from the side.

Overall, I do not know what else you can ask for in a gaming monitor and would recommend this monitor to anyone with this budget set aside for a high-performance monitor. Now we just have to wait for more availability of games, processors and graphics cards to be as far advanced as this monitor to catch up to this fast of refresh rate.

    Bad start, great finish

So is 4K or heck, even 2K resolution required for serious gaming? If not what is the most important spec? Actually using a 1080P monitor with a quick refresh rate and response time is a great target spec. That's where ASUS brings their TUF line of monitors to the game.

I grabbed the TUF 27" HD monitor. The 1920 x 1080 with 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time at under $400 is a bargain! I love the switches behind the right side of the bezel where you can quickly adjust between preset contrasts depending on how you are using it. Expecially helpful is a dedicated gaming switch that allows you to change between game type such as Racing, First Person Shooter, Role Play, etc. The stand is solid with height adjustment as well as tilt and swivel. The stand also allows for you to chose portrait or landscape orientation. You can also shed the stand and VESA mount if that's your preference which is a feature often not offered on some equivalent monitors.

It is Free-sync and G-Sync ready with HDR which really makes your screen pop (figuratively).

I play a lot of FPS games and I can appreciate the quick response and refresh with minimum artifacts and ghosting making the action on the screen truly smooth and assisting in game play, now if my reaction time would improve and take advantage of the quality of the monitor.

The bad start... Originally I connected it to an older gaming computer with a Radeon RX580 that is in our guest room. Unfortunately the computer would not even post with it connected so I switched back to the original monitor and it wouldn't post either. I disconnected everything, opened up the computer and cleared the motherboard CMOS and rebooted. Success!!!! Once it was in Windows I shutdown, switched to the TUF and it would finally boot. Once everything was working I played a little Division 2 on lower settings than I play on my main rig but it was very smooth and performance was limited by the graphics card.

Great finish... I then connected the TUF to my main gaming rig, a mini ITX system running an Intel i9 paired with a nVidia RTX3060 Ti graphics card. I started up Division 2 and had almost everything set at high resolution and the graphics card and TUF monitor pairing really were impressive. No artifacts or ghosting while playing. Super clean. I plan on trying the monitor with my racing sim setup... although 27" is a bit small for an immersive experience I might just have to break down and get 2 more monitor to make the perfect 3 monitor setup.

Other than the boot problem the monitor worked flawlessly and is a bargain at under $400. I'm a huge ASUS ROG and TUF fan. Between motherboards, AIOs, monitors and even cases their stuff is quality and with TUF as their value brand you know you are getting the the same high quality as the ROG stuff but at a value price.

Better than 5 Stars for an IPS monitor! AWESOME

This review should be just one word “AWESOME”

But just to be verbose here are some impressive specs - 16:9, Non-Glare, LED, IPS, 178° Viewing Angle, sRGB 100%, 1920x1080, 400 cd/㎡,ASCR: 100000000:1, Refresh Rate up to 280Hz, Response Time 1ms(GTG), HDR10, and 20 plus additional features.

The ASUS - 27" IPS WLED FHD Gaming Monitor (DisplayPort, HDMI) VG279QMY has Shadow Boost for increased clarity in dark scenes, and also ultrafast response times minimizing blurring and streaking. It has tilting, swiveling and pivoting in a very well-designed nice-looking package.

It has been very clean, with no tears, running at 30+ frame rates on a high end flight simulator and several maxed out FPS and other types of action games. Running on PC i9, all SSD, 64g RAM and RTX2080ti. It is a very comfortable display in diverse lighting conditions. It has a very ASUSish and functional built-in preferences panel along with great connectivity. Over all it is AWESOME!.

Great if you want speed over pixels.

The gaming monitor is a very nice piece of equipment that I have enjoyed using ever since the day I got it. My first impression of the monitor when I took it out of the box was that it was very safely packaged, and assembly was very easy: the only piece needed to assemble was a single pre-placed screw, so it only took 30 seconds to completely assemble. This monitor also has two HDMI jacks as well as one DisplayPort. Within the box it contained both an HDMI and a DisplayPort cable, which is a nice touch. There is also a 3.5mm audio output jack on the back (sorry, no separate speaker and headphone outputs). Power comes from a separate power brick, using a thin cable between the brick and the monitor itself, presumably to keep the monitor thin. The monitor runs at a max of 280 Hz (although my gaming laptop could only manage 220Hz), and the increased speed was very apparent, coming from a 60Hz monitor. It also supports variable refresh rates (FreeSync and G-Sync), and the IPS panel looks great. The aesthetics are clean; it has a very small bezel, and the base looks very nice as well, and lacks any type of extra RGB lighting (a bonus, in my opinion). Overall, this monitor is very much worth the purchase and works in almost every way that a gamer could want. The only thing lacking is a built-in USB hub. So, you get 1920x1080 280Hz in a 27” package. In this price range you can get 1440p monitors the same physical size, but at half of the refresh rate. So, if you want more pixels, choose something else. If you want the highest possible speed at FHD resolution, then consider this one.

This is a great product put out by ASUS. I just built a new PC and needed three monitors and this is my main monitor. It was really worth it! It has a great refresh rate just wish it was a little bit more cheaper but overall it’s a great product out of my ASUS of their TUF GAMING line.

    Worth the upgrade

Right out of the box, you get a glimpse of how good of a size this 27 inch monitor is. 3/4 bezels are extremely thin and makes the monitor look really nice. I don't know if it is just me but there is a black frame within the display that sort of distracts the user to believe that the bezel is bigger than intended.

Power cable, HDMI, and Display port cable are included. The mount is solid and the way you can move the screen around and rotate to portrait is a huge plus. Take note though that this is not wall mountable so if this is something you are looking for you need to look elsewhere.

For a 1080p, 27", IPS, HDR, 240hz capable monitor, WITH INTERNAL SPEAKERS that don't suck, at this price point is a good deal. When gaming on this monitor, the display comes alive when you have a capable graphics card. Talk about smooth frame rates. Counter Strike and FIFA was buttery smooth while gaming on high settings. Again, the only limit if your graphics card!

This is aimed for the young gamer/media user that is looking to upgrade from their included PC monitor or their aging standard IPS display. They want the best bang for their buck, look no further.

    Remarkable Gaming Monitor!

Acer makes amazing monitors. After using this monitor for a couple of days, I can safely say this monitor is indeed an incredible one. This monitor includes many features that can improve your gaming experience. I will go into what these features are in this review as well as my thoughts while using them.

First, the unboxing experience. This monitor is tightly packed into a box. I did struggle taking it out since the monitor was packed between two thick pieces of Styrofoam. Although tedious, I do like the amount of protection Acer included. But I do recommend you get some help when taking the monitor out of the box because I did have to aggressively pull it out. Set-up was as easy as putting a stick vacuum together. No extra tools were required and after a couple of minutes of set-up, I was ready to use the monitor.

As soon as I turned on the monitor, I was confused about why the display was on the darker side. I had my brightness at max but the monitor still remained dark. Little did I know that I unknowingly passed over the “Max Brightness” setting in the monitor’s Picture Settings. I toggled this on and brightness was completely set to normal. After toggling this setting, I truly felt the wide array of vivid colors. This monitor is 1080P but certainly appears a slightly better resolution due to the HDR-enabled feature that improves the overall quality of the display using a broader range of colors.

I did try out several games using this display on both PC and console. Honestly, I did not notice anything unusual while gaming. Everything performed well and smoothly. The display can overclock to a whopping 280Hz refresh rate. The monitor also offers a variety of different modes depending on what you are doing. My favorite modes that made games appear better were “Graphics” and “HDR.” I found that these modes provided the best “visuals” for the games I was playing. You can also manually adjust picture and colors through the monitor’s settings if you aren’t satisfied with the loaded modes.

Here are some of my thoughts and more features:

    - I love how Acer added a Joystick to get around in the monitor’s settings. This should be a permanent physical feature in all modern

    monitors.

    - Minimal bezels are also a huge plus for this monitor.

    - IPS display does allow for amazing viewing angles. Great if you have a multi-monitor set-up.

    - The monitor is vertical and horizontally adjustable.

    - The monitor contains 2 HDMI 2.0 ports as well as 1 DisplayPort 1.2.

    - The monitor is not wall mountable.

    - Built-in speakers are surprisingly great. Most manufacturers cheap out on the speakers but Acer seriously did an excellent job with the

speakers for this monitor. The speakers are some of the best I’ve heard in a monitor.

Overall, this monitor is certainly remarkable. Beautiful visuals and crisp gameplay are some of the things this monitor has to offer. I have not run into any issues so far and am glad about how everything has turned out. If you require a gaming monitor, I do recommend you try this one out!

    Vibrant colors, super smooth gameplay

The Acer Nitro XV271 Z gaming monitor paired amazingly well with my gaming laptop's NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 GPU, providing a smooth, stutter and tear-free gameplay experience across a number of genre games I played on it including racing games, FPS, and RPG/MPORG. The bezels on the monitor are pretty thin, around 1/16th of an inch, though keep in mind there is a pixel-less border along the top and sides of the screen, setting the viewable screen in about 1/4 inch from the outside edge of the monitor. The chin of the monitor is about 3/4 inch tall and has a single status LED in the bottom right-hand corner that cannot be disabled. On-screen display (OSD) controls for the monitor are on the back of the monitor and include a 5-function joystick and three programmable hot keys which you can customize to perform the adjustments you use most frequently.

The monitor includes a blue light filter setting that reduces the amount of blue light emitted (by 50% or 60%) in order to protect your eyes from strain and overexposure, but note that this will give your screen a slightly yellowish tint. It's less noticeable, though, after your eyes adjust to the color offset and I did find that the filtered brightness was easier on the eyes over longer sessions in front of the screen. The Adaptive Contrast Management (ACM) setting utilizes a setting to automatically adjust brightness and contrast of the monitor, though personally I found the automatic settings to be too bright (without blue light filtering). There are default profiles in the OSD for Action, Racing, Sports, Standard, ECO, Graphics, and HDR, as well as a User profile that you can customize and save for quick access.

Built into the monitor are two 2W speakers which, honestly, sounded better than I expected, and were decently capable although the sound quality won't be blowing anyone away. Thankfully the monitor also includes a headphone out port, so you can attach a set of external speakers or headphones for a better audio experience.

Setup was plug-and-play using the included HDMI cable to both my laptop and gaming console, though I appreciate the inclusion of a DisplayPort 1.2 port and cable, as well, since that allowed me to connect it to my desktop rig. The monitor has a second HDMI 2.0 port for a total of 3 simultaneous inputs. Despite the monitor's size, it is surprisingly lightweight, even when attached to the included stand. The metal center column of the stand attaches to a weighted plastic base that swivels a full 360 degrees. The monitor can also be pivoted into portrait orientation in both directions and tilted about 20 degrees up/down. The height of the monitor is adjustable from about 1.5" from the tabletop to 6.5" and all positioning adjustments are quite smooth. If you prefer, the stand can be removed and the monitor is VESA mount compatible.

Out of the box, I checked for dead pixels and found no issues with either whole pixels nor any sub pixels. This is a 1080p monitor and not 4K which, given the amount of screen real estate, I thought the resolution would be a bit low for this size monitor. However, text and object edges are still very crisp and clean at this pixel density. Since it is an IPS display, viewing angles at near parallel produced little to no variation in color or clarity of the image on the screen.

The native resolution of the monitor is 1920 x 1080 and the refresh rate can be set up to 240 Hz, though it can be overclocked in the OSD to achieve up to 280Hz. Enabling FreeSync Premium with compatible AMD GPUs effectively eliminates tearing and stuttering, while Visual Response Boost (VRB) decreases blur in fast moving images to effectively achieve the equivalent of 1ms MPRT. This along with the 0.5ms GtG response time give this monitor ultra smooth, blur-free motion during gameplay.

The color depth is 8-bit and the color space spec is 99% sRGB making this monitor suitable for digital video post-production and editing in addition to gaming. I did notice though, that in pitch dark conditions, there was some degree of IPS glow, manifesting as slightly orangey-brownish illumination along the edges and particularly in the corners of the screen. Despite this, I still feel the contrast of the monitor is very good in general. Since the brightness can go up to 400 nits with HDR enabled, I found it to be plenty bright in a well-lit room and bumped up the level of detail in dark scenes.

Overall, this monitor performed well for me while gaming, doing creative work, and even watching movies. The high refresh rates and low latency have definitely improved my gaming experience, and the performance and visuals look great, even at 1080p.

    Superb FHD Gaming Monitor

Out of the box, and after a few tweaks in the OSD menu the Acer Nitro performed over my expectations in gaming. I changed the Color Temp (Warm by default) to Custom and did a couple of custom tweaks that fit my preference. Overall, for FHD content/gaming this screen is a beast.

    Packaging/Setup

    ===============

Inside the sturdy box you get your Monitor, Arm, Base Stand, literature, Power Cord and an HDMI and DP cable. Setup is a breeze and should take a couple of minutes. The screen is non vesa mountable and must be on its stand. The base uses a tool less screw that connects to the arm and then you snap it into the rear of the screen. That's it. Super simple.

Screen can rotate 360 degrees, tilt forward or backwards, adjustable height and can be used in landscape or portrait (90 degrees in either direction).

    Performance

    ===============

Note the monitor has 3 inputs. 2x HDMI 2.0 and 1 DP port. You can use the HMDI connections to take advantage of the built in speakers if you lack headphones or a sound system or just plain connect consoles or anything else to the screen.

Using DP, Windows 10 auto detected the monitor and set it to it's default of 240hz (which is still great), but I wanted to take advantage of the OC'd 280hz .5ms rate. To do this, you must go into the OSD Menu -> System -> Over Clock -> On. Once you do that, go into your display settings, under advanced display settings and change the Refresh Rate to 280.

Played CS, BFV, CoD, and Apex and everything was buttery smooth. No tearing, no stuttering, nothing to make your experience unpleasant. Being FREESYNC you can also enable G-SYNC to it as well like I did. Your experience will vary depending on your settings and hardware.

    Other Thoughts

    ===============

Not being overly gaming looking(?), if that is a thing, the screen is perfect for all applications. Whether it be in a game room or office setting, the screen fits in anywhere. No flashy lights in the back, just an Acer Logo behind the top right.

Just make sure you have the desk space for this 27 inch monitor. Base leaves a very small footprint but just remember as I stated, you can't mount it.

Screen is an IPS panel and has great viewing angels. HDR with great colors and up to 400 nits brightness (not great, but not bad at all). Color Gamut out of the box requires minor tweaking, but man, when set correctly, visuals look GREAT.

Overall, if you want a super fast refresh rate competitive FHD gaming monitor, then Acer made this for you. Highly recommend with the only drawback being non-mountable.

A fantastic value for 1080P gaming

As an owner of the 1440p Acer Predator 27" Monitor I had to decide what to get my wife who is rather new to PC gaming and so it was the Acer Nitro XV. Before I get started I must say that I cannot say enough good things about the Acer Predator monitor series. They look like a gamers monitor but also professional and not overly saturated and gaudy. When I got my Acer Predator I gave it 5 stars and that is also what I am giving this one, although I would not hesitate to say that I think my Predator monitor is better (but it's also more expensive so...).

The monitor comes in a nice, very cool looking box and is very clear when you open it how to get everything out. Although me like a big dummy discovered this after I started pawing at the box and not able to get the thing out. For starters make sure you read what it says to open it right side up. Again, I did not so part of the difficulty I had was getting it right side up.

Next, if you have a friend or significant other nearby it would be great if they could grab the box while you pull. Don't get me wrong, it's easy enough with one person but it takes way too long when you're excited and wanting to see your new monitor. So once I got it out of the two huge styrofoam blocks (it's VERY well protected folks) then it was unwrapping plastic, ties, you know the drill. 2 and a half hours later...just kidding, 5 minutes later, we had it out on the table.

Congratulations, that was the hardest part of getting the monitor up and going. Actually putting it together is a piece of cake that took me just a few minutes. You put the stand into the base of the monitor, it locks. Then take the actual base on to the stand with a screw. Don't worry, no screwdriver is needed. They have a nice little piece of metal that pops up and allows you to turn the screw (seriously why can't all companies do this???) Once you get it tighened down it is just a matter of moving it up and down (which is quite easy mind you) and then you're ready to fire it up.

Windows 10 immediately recognized it but did not install any special monitor driver. I used the PC for a bit without any issue so not sure there's any real need to do so but I did end up going to Acers website and getting the drivers there to install. Once installed I saw no difference but at least I know if there are issues it is not my drivers.

I was hoping that the Nitro copied the Predators excellent joystick model and I was happy to see that it did. If you are really fearful of, or dread changing your monitor settings due to how difficult it is to navigate well don't worry here because using the small joystick makes things very easy to be whizzing around in settings and getting it all exactly how you like it. Pick color calibration, also pick what type of media you are going to be using: movies, sports, gaming, etc.

Of course one great thing about this monitor is the overclocking and be aware it is not on by default. I believe out of the box the default is 120Hz but you can bump it up to the extreme, 280Hz, with the menu and I would suggest that you do this immediately. The monitor also ships to a default of warm 2 and you do not want to use this. Either switch to standard, self tune or do like I did and use Cool 2 setting which is a great look...but your mileage may vary.

After you've chosen all of your settings its time to fire up a game and see how it all looks. Well first of all I can tell you this monitor is nice and bright and has a lot of WOW! factor in just displaying even the basic Windows 10 screen. Everything looks bright and vibrant and colorful (but not overly exaggerated like "torch mode" in stores where everything is bright and colorful enough to blind you.

My first game is Doom Eternal. A game that now supports raytracing, DLSS and the new AMD Fidelity X Super Resolution. I got in and fired it up to Ultra Max (I have a Radeon 6800M on the just released AMD ROG STRIX G15 Advantage. What's this? An error message about how my new monitor does not support HDR?

Ok, here's the part where you have to know if you haven't used HDR before that you have to enable it in Windows. Just connecting up an HDR monitor will not give you HDR. So I went and did that in Control Panel. Come back, try again, nope. Reboot, try again, nope. HDR works just fine in Windows but not this game? Well hopefully it was just this game. So off I go to boot up Ori, a game that sports fantastic HDR by the way, and yes HDR comes up just fine. After a couple of quick tests with other games I find it was just Doom Eternal that didn't see the HDR for some reason.

Now some of you may be wondering how do you know if it's running in 60Hz, 120Hz, or 280Hz? Well simple, fire up the monitor settings, and in the settings you'll see a template overlay. This will tell you the Hz in Windows and then change over to game frames per second (FPS) in the actual game. This will help you to know that your monitor is doing everything you paid for it to do. Last but not least there are two ways to use the cable management clip that comes on the back of your monitor near the base. I know when you set this up you were wondering what in the world this is for? Well that's for cable management and there's a wrong way to do it (see pic) and there's a right way to do it (see pic after I redid it!) so be sure to get that kosher now and don't put it off, lest you have a friend come over and #cablemanagement you.

So in the end I have to say this is an extraordinary, high quality, amazing looking, 27" monitor and what I would consider to be a value-version of the vaunted, many say the best, Acer Predator 27" monitor. And folks, you just can't say much better than that in my view.

Be sure to take a look at the pics I've attached for more information related to this review. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

5 star monitor with 3 star speakers

The secure packaging and quick, simple, no-tools assembly left a great first impression before I ever turned on the monitor. After connecting to my Windows 10 PC via HDMI, my computer automatically mirrored the monitor and was ready to go. After a few display setting tweaks exploring the built-in display options, I was ready to jump into a game.

    Gameplay:

I launched League of Legends and everything went smoothly until the match actually started. I immediately started experience horrendous lag and what looked like frame drops, despite my in-game fps settings telling me things were fine. I swapped to a different monitor to finish off the game and went exploring as to what may be happening.

After some research on the Nvidia forums, I installed the latest GeForce update for my graphics card and launched League again. This time, everything ran smoothly with no frame drops and all the smoothness I expect out of a gaming monitor.

The other titles I've played so far (ARK, Rust, Minecraft, Everquest 2) don't require quite the real time response as a MOBA like League, but the monitor performed as well as expected with other titles as well. Overall, after the graphics card update, I'm very happy with how the monitor performs.

    Sound:

    - I like that the monitor has built in speakers. I wouldn't be thrilled to stream an action movie or have it be my primary audio source for listening to music, but it's adequate for gaming. I wasn't expecting the monitor to have built-in speakers at all, and if it hadn't, this would probably be a 5 star review. However, I'm of the opinion that if you're going to add a feature to a product, you should match the quality of the rest of your product, and Acer definitely skimped on the speakers. If you're like most gamers and already use a headset or have other dedicated speakers, you can ignore this part and consider this a 5 star review.

    Assembly:

The only thing that would have made assembly easier would have been to have it be completely put together when it arrived. I can tell significant thought went into the design of both the base and the monitor arm. Attaching the base to the monitor arm involved a single screw that had a built in metal piece to turn so I didn't even have to find a screwdriver (or a coin as in other models). The arm slid into the back of the monitor easily and securely with a spring mechanism, and has a pinch to release lever if I ever needed to remove it.

    Display:

The display came preset on "Eco" mode, but has options to change between Action Racing, Sports, custom User settings, Standard, Graphics, and HDR. Since I primarily play RTS and MOBAs. I left it on the Action setting initially and from there tweaked a few brightness settings to get the display exactly where I wanted it. With minimal customization, I found display settings I was happy with.

    Closing:

All in all, this monitor was very easy to assemble and setup, looks great and performs well. If you can overlook the built-in speaker inadequacy and make sure to update your graphics card before launching the game, this is definitely a monitor I would buy again.

Optimal for FPS But Also Great PIcture Quality

I will be sharing my thoughts on the Acer XV271z monitor and comparing it to past experiences ive had with other gaming monitors.

Before i start my review i will start by explaining a few things about gaming monitors if you are new to this, if you are experienced you can skip this part

First if you are looking to upgrade from a regular monitor (60hz or TV) to a gaming one, What is your budget?? do you want FPS and responsiveness over picture quality??? can your rig use the full potential of your monitor?? what type of games do you play?? are you going to be using this monitor for other things besides gaming??

If you are not sure i will get straight to the point. This monitor is mostly for games that require fast reaction time such as FPS shooters, Fighting Games, etc... It has great picture quality and colors, it is also bright, and has your basic ports DP, HDMI 2.0, and several gaming settings. BUT you will only game at 1080p and will probably not be as good for editing and content creation. So if you are trying to get those FPS and snappiness at Valorant, Apex, Guilty gear, etc... this is for you

    Anyways this is my TLDR

    Pros

-27" IPS panel (great viewing angles)

-2 DP ports, 1 HDMI, Audio Jack

    -HDR

-A lot of gaming options in the settings

-1ms or .5 if you do all the extra stuff

    -400 nits

-240hz or 280hz with compatible DP

-Built in power supply (no bulky external power bricks)

    -Vesa compatible

    -AMD Freesync

    Cons

    -Built in speakers are bad

    -pretty basic look nothing flashy

-(personal opinion because i am used to 2k) 1080p resolution

    -No G sync

Alright now i will be a little more specific

Out of the box you get your basic cables, you get a DP cable, HDMI, and Power Cord. You also get your manual and warranty papers along with the stand and the monitor. The monitor is pretty easy to set up on the stand, you just tilt it and it snaps into place. The shell and design of the stand and monitor are pretty basic, they have a matte finish with a few red parts here and there. One can adjust the angle and the height of the monitor through the stand with easy, you can also twist it side to side but cannot be rotated vertically unless you mount it to a an arm. On the monitor you get 2 DP ports 1 HDMI 2.0 port and Audio Jack and your Power Cable Plug. Once everything is plugged in, you can just turn on your computer, change a few settings on your GPU control Panel, and then you can start gaming. If you decide you want to change some settings through the monitor settings you have 4 buttons and a little joystick to navigate on the bottom right of the back bezel. Honestly there is a lot of detailed settings, and i have not gone through since most of my past monitors dont have that many options. The only thing i did was lower the response time, turn on game settings and play with the HDR settings. HDR deffinetly makes an improvement if you are watching a videos or playing something like an RPG, But is not something that will mask the 1080p resolution.

If you plan to make this you're do it all monitor for photoshoping, editing etc.. i would recommend calibrating the colors. I know a little bit of color calibration but most of the time i get my settings from reddit or other forums. Lastly the screen has really good viewing angles, no light bleed on the sides when looking at dark scenes and it has 400 nits of brightness which is pretty bright compared to like a VA panel.

    Here are my final thoughts.

If you are upgrading from a 60hz 80hz or 100hz 1080p TN or VA monitor and can live without the RGB, I would recommend you this monitor if you are not trying to break the bank . I know you are trying to get all the frames when playing FPS meaning most of the time 1080p is optimal

    Great Monitor for Competitive Games

This monitor is great for high framerate competitive games. The motion is very fluid and with the overdrive set to normal I see no ghosting even when running the UFO test. The HDR setting is very nice to have when you are playing games that offer support. This monitor can get very bright! I know that 400 nits doesn't sound like a lot compared to some TVs but since you are so much closer to a monitor it can be blinding on max brightness. The stand has plenty of adjustment; it offers tilt, rotation to a portrait orientation, a lot of vertical travel and the base can also rotate. I also appreciate that it just pops into place without the use of screws. The only real caveat has to do with it's size, at 27 inches I feel this is the absolute limit for a 1080p screen. It is great for gaming and I don't really notice the pixels while watching videos but while using it for productive purposes the lower DPI is quite obvious and can be distracting. It's not really a negative but just a trade off you need to be aware of when selecting a 1080p monitor of this size for gaming. I also tested this with an Xbox One X and everything, including the Freesync worked as advertised. If used in conjunction with a set of external speakers this could serve as a both a monitor and gaming TV replacement in places where space is limited.

Great monitor fir everything and best for gaming

This is a 1080p monitor,Great monitor for gaming and any other use thats not 4k,runs up to 240hz that varies on game but does get to 240.it comes with an Anti Glare coating on screen so dont try to peel it off, also it does not have that film that most screens have on them so theres nothing to peel off of screen.comes with cables hdmi and display port cable no need to buy cables.also to get 240hz you need to go to your pc setting and change the refresh hz rate from 60 to 240 to run.

    What an FPS Beast...

No words. I upgraded from a 144hz 27 inch TN panel and the IPS is waaaay better. For Competitive gaming especially high frames, this 280hz is the SHIZ. 11/10 recommend to anyone. I get 300 frames on Valorant so this is a must have! If you’re wanting the upgrade and don’t think this is worth it, click the order button don’t be scared.

    Awesome monitor, sketchy packaging

I received the monitor 3 days after I placed the order, so that was a very nice surprise. However, the bad surprise was that the monitor was shipped in a regular unlabeled shipping box, and not in Asus' retail box. I don't know if that's how BestBuy sells this monitor, or maybe the person who shipped it made a mistake. It doesn't look used as well, so most likely it's not a returned unit.

My only complain about the monitor itself is that it doesn't go very high. I'm 5'6", and I feel like I need a few extra inches for a comfortable viewing experience. I might buy a monitor arm later on. In terms of gaming, I'm coming from a 60hz panel, so going to 280hz is eye opening. BF1 at ~150 fps looks nothing like BF1 on 60 fps :) And if you get yourself one of those coveted RTX 3080 cards, then your experience is truly going to be god-like.

This is pretty much the same thing as VG259QM, but it looks like this is exclusive for BestBuy. Definitely recommend for any gamer that can afford a $300 monitor.

Amazing display, but the panel lottery is real...

I love this awesome monitor, but the panel lottery is real.

After months of research and a few false starts, I finally found the perfect display for my dual-monitor gaming/work setup.

What else did I look at?

I also tried a 34" curved ultrawide from LG, but the curve made me feel nauseated when using it for work. It also had a stuck pixel. That went back to Amazon.

The top 24" budget pick from AOC felt absurdly cheap with horrible backlight bleed. Likewise, one of the two displays I received had a dead pixel. With a replacement out of the question until March, I wasn't waiting that long for something I didn't even like. Again, back to Amazon.

My search eventually led me to the ASUS VG259QM, which I got from Best Buy.

Because I use this setup for both gaming and work, it's important that the displays are comfortable with strong color performance and exceptional uniformity. I also have limited desk space, so dual 25" monitors is literally the biggest I could do. Likewise, these were going to be mounted to a dual-monitor stand, so they couldn't have a "chin" that would prevent them from being pushed flush together.

The GOOD news: my search is over. I love this monitor.

The display I'm using now is phenomenal with no serious issues and great black uniformity. While there's significant IPS glow in the corners (unavoidable, really), I don't notice any backlight bleed around the edges, nor any dead/stuck pixels. I liked the colors out of the box, but I also admit they need some tweaking.

I also love 240hz more than expected and don't think I could ever go back to a slower display. It's been great for gaming and work alike. Awesome build quality, too. The monitor feels sturdy and was easy to set up. There's even a trick to get it to run 10-bit color using CRU.

    Now for the BAD news...

I'm still trying to lock in an acceptable replacement for my second screen. The first had a small, dark spot in the upper half of the screen (see pics). Not a dead pixel, it looked more like a piece of dirt or dust got caught under the anti-glare coating during manufacturing. This was in addition to moderately distracting backlight bleed, so that was too many serious issues for one display.

    I ordered a replacement.

Unfortunately, the replacement had the same "dust speck" issue as the first, only much worse, with two or three specks on the display that were noticeable on a light-colored background. I'm now waiting for a second replacement to get here, this way I can (hopefully) close the book on this setup.

Each of my displays were manufactured in December 2020, so it's possible a couple bad eggs made it into that batch. Here's hoping my next replacement is my final replacement, with performance as good as the display I have in front of me right now. If that winds up being the case, I couldn't be happier.

Overall, I recommend the VG259QM, but check your screen carefully when you get it.

    For true competitive gaming

I got the chance to upgrade the Alienware - 24.5" IPS LED FHD and I am please to say I couldn't be more happy with it.

Let's start of with the simple things, IPS. if you don't already know, IPS monitors have the best all around viewing angles. Most older TN displays, you won't be able to see at certain angles. Alienware really did good upgrading their latest round of gaming monitors. Not that you would be playing a game at a weird angle but it's good for when my friends come by and want to watch each other play.

Next, the big game changer, pun intended, 240HZ. If you're a competitive gamer, this monitor is for you! You're going to notice a big difference going from 60HZ to 240HZ. You might not so notice it if you're going from 144HZ to 240HZ. The weird thing is, I feel i actually got better at online multi-player shooters. I'm able to spot things more clearly when opponents are moving. Or it could just be a placebo affect, that I got this monitor and now I feel actually feel I'm getting better. Not saying this will make you an all time national champion but it seems to really help me spot certain movements.

Things I like about this monitor:

    1. blazing fast refresh rate

    2. IPS display (upgrading from a TN display)

    3. Awesome look of the display itself, have you seen this thing?

    4. The monitor built in hub, get rid of the need for an separate USB hub

    5. The monitor stand you can easily position into any viewing angle, this is stupid but I'm pretty tall and I appreciate being able to easily move it for my best viewing

    Things I didn't like:

    1. Alienware says you can change the color LED on the back but I haven't been able to so probably user error. I have an R7 Alienware gaming computer but I think you'll need to update to the latest AlienFX.

    2. Size, I also do video editing and I use a 34 inch monitor for the extra workspace but for gaming the 24.5" is actually perfect. I wouldn't say the extra monitor space is really beneficial for gaming.

In all honesty, I would highly recommend this monitor if you're doing competitive gaming or looking for a new gaming monitor.

Seriously over-engineered for seriously good PQ!

Alienware often demonstrates a flair for “over-the-top” design that goes for the jugular of the “gamer aesthetic”…one look at the glowing alien, angular shape, and oval LED cutout at the back of the stand and you know this monitor was designed with serious, unashamed gamers in mind. But that’s what makes the performance of the AW2521HFL even more compelling—its almost intimidating set of adjustments for picture quality and video performance would make this monitor ideal for digital content creators as well as gamers shooting for buttery smooth HD at over 200 fps.

    DESIGN OBSERVATIONS

There’s not much I can say in terms of appearance you can’t get by looking at the product images, so I’ll run down some observations that might not be obvious. First, Dell packed in a DP, USB and HDMI cable so nothing could get in the way of quickly getting this beautiful monitor up and running. Assembly is mercifully quick with the oversized base attaching to the beefy riser with a single wing-headed screw. The box even features a handy cut out so you can attach the riser to the back of the monitor BEFORE you have to unpack and unwrap it—it is brilliant packaging that ensures protection of the screen until the monitor is actually on your desk and ready for action.

And yes, it IS beautiful—the lunar white is really eye-catching, as is the LED alien head and ambient riser LED--if you’re looking at the back of the monitor. This monitor simply BEGS to be sitting out on a free-standing desk where people can walk in and marvel at your tricked-out rig. But if your monitor faces a wall or into the back of a hutch or something, all you’re going to see up front is the LED power button at the lower right of the bezel, and the glow of the rear LEDs bouncing off whatever is behind the monitor.

The effect is still really cool, but most of that awesome and visceral impact of the monitor aglow on your desktop is a little lost because virtually all of it faces away from you. This is even truer if you use a VESA mount as the largest LED accent is on the back of the riser. Maybe if some of the LEDs would cast onto the surface below the monitor, perhaps even projecting a little image of the Alienware mascot??? That would be entirely possible because empty space between the stand’s feet is ENORMOUS with an inverted U-shaped opening going from 4” wide to more than 16” wide at the front of the stand. And despite being only a 25” monitor, its stand, while providing a spectacular range of rise, tilt and swivel, needs nearly 11” of clearance from the front of the feet to the back of the base to sit securely on your desk. This may not be problem for many, but if you happen to have a soundbar or something like that normally underneath your monitor, you might end up chewing through most of your available real estate. But otherwise, you DO have acres of spare space under the monitor to stash a controller or a headset (or Funko figures).

Speaking of a soundbar, that this monitor doesn’t have built-in speakers—not that you necessarily need them as there is a 3.5mm headphone jack between two bottom-facing USB ports, but even a modest pair of speakers would have been welcome for some quick YouTube or Web audio. Still, connectivity is plentiful with 4 USB ports, the headphone jack, 2 HDMI inputs, a Display Port input, and a line-out jack for a pair of powered speakers. Other thoughtful design touches include a cable-management cut-out in the riser that does a good job of keeping front-facing cable clutter to a minimum and a plastic rear cover to streamline the backside by enclosing the cut-outs for all cables and connectors.

    OPERATION, CUSTOMIZATION AND CALIBRATION

How does the monitor look and perform? In a word: superb! Image quality out of the box, even on “Standard,” via DP was actually VERY good with white temperature (measured via Datacolor Spyder colorimeter) reading 6663K and just a hint of green push. But spelunking through the menus for color and performance options got a little confusing at first. For example, none of the color presets are under “Display” though that is where you specify the color format (RGB or YPbPr) and set brightness and contrast. All picture adjustments of note actually fall under the “Game” menu and the adjustments are as extensive as they are sometimes perplexing.

First, we have the color presets, most of which I rarely use because I’ve always found them somewhat gimmcky and unnatural though YMMV. There are color presets supposedly “ideal” for FPS, MOBA/RTS, RPG, and SPORTS, but best I could tell, those modes have similar, nearly neutral color temps, but all seemed (to my eyes) to futz with the brightness/contrast values to varying degrees, with FPS in particular greatly enhancing detail retrieval in dark areas—which, of course, simply washed out dark areas into a murky grey so you can see stuff hidden in corners better. There are also 3 other customizable “Game” presets, “Comfortview” which came in at 6073K and had a strong push in green and deep cut in blue, “Warm” which measured 6690K and strangely featured just a hair of green push and a slight cut in the reds, “Cool” at 8550K with completely overblown blues and a deep cut in reds, and then another “Custom” color preset that featured even more customization options. I dialed in the Custom preset to within 5 degrees of 6500K at a luminance reading of 206.3 lux using the following Gain settings: R 98%, G 86%, B 91%.

But here’s where things get better (or worse, depending on how OCD you are). Some presets allow you to individually adjust gray-to-gray response separately from the global setting so you can, for example, have a global color preset with 2ms response time but an FPS color preset for eSports with 1ms response. There are 3 response time options: 4ms, 2ms, and 1ms. 1ms is the “Extreme” setting for the ultimate in blur-busting, but I’m guessing it’s achieved via some kind of overdrive because the manual warns this setting might introduce “slight and noticeable visual artifacts into the image.” I haven’t noticed any artifacts in the past few weeks, but in practice I tend to stick to the 2ms option just to wring a little more life out of the panel down the road.

All color presets allowed adjustment of the “Dark Stabilizer” which “improves visibility in dark gaming scenarios”…again, it looked like the workings of brightness/contrast sliders that gradually washed out blacks to better make out shadow detail. But the gaming and custom presets ALSO provided adjustments for offset (RGB), 6-channel saturation (RGBCMY) and 6-channel hue (RGBCMY). I’ve never come across a consumer-level gaming monitor with this much granular control over so many settings. I would imagine someone working in media creation with calibration tools could take this monitor even further than a color temperature and grey-scale calibration alone (which is frankly where I’ve always stopped).

Sadly, the instruction manual spends more time describing how to use the AlienFX app to adjust the LED lighting effects than it does describing the use case for some of these picture control settings, but it’s nice the option is there for those with the know-how and capability to take advantage of all that adjustability. There are additional options for the LED color and effects, audio, shortcut key settings and menu personalization, even LCD conditioning to combat burn-in, as well as a host of other features; but the picture settings and response times were where I devoted most of my attention. However, one particularly handy feature is the “Game enhance mode” which allows you toggle a display for current FPS, a timer, and even display alignment hashes for aligning multi-monitor setups.

As some have pointed out, this monitor may initially be recognized by Windows as a 60Hz display. This can be adjusted up to the 240Hz cap under Windows display adapter properties using “List all modes” or in the NVIDIA control panel resolution selector by scrolling down past the default resolution sets covering “Ultra HD, HD, SD” to the “PC” resolution settings for 1920x1080—the 240Hz refresh rate will then be available in the pull-down.

    BOTTOM LINE

This thing ROCKS—the pictures I've attached simply cannot do the panel's PQ justice! The Radeon RX-580 in my daughter’s computer immediately recognized the monitor as a FreeSync device; the 2080 Ti in my own rig also recognized the unit as a G-Sync display. Playing DOOM Eternal at 240 fps is a positively sublime experience, as is the stutter-free G-sync action during those few dips below the screen’s max refresh rate. There is a bit of backlight bleed at the 4 corners but it’s pretty uniform and barely noticeable in action; overall, the panel is more than capable of delivering some pretty satisfying inky blackness when you’ve got the color dialed in just right.

Dell and Alienware really seem to have upped their game with this monitor and the performance, picture quality, and seemingly rock-solid build honestly make this a monitor that feels like it is well worth the asking price. Sure, an ultra-wide or 4K monitor will give you more eye candy, but if you want the pinnacle of HD video performance (or that’s all you can drive at 100+ frame rates with your current setup), it’s probably going to be hard to do much better than this panel right now…enthusiastically recommended!

Beautiful Performance for Gaming and Work.

    Unpacking and Setup

The Alienware 25" Gaming Monitor (AW2521HFL) is a beautiful beast! This is evident from the box's size and the packing that keeps this fantastic monitor safe for shipping. The vertical support post was quickly attached to the V-shaped base with a single anchor screw, and the unwrapped monitor clicked into the mount. A single push button is available for quickly releasing the monitor from the stand. I soon discovered the need for this to get the cables attached to the monitor. The bottom back of the slides down and off to reveal the ports for the cables. Grooves below the ports firmly secure the wires. Reattaching the monitor to the stand is a quick snap, and a cable tunnel in the stand is perfect for threading the cables.

As soon as I plugged in power, the back of the monitor came alive with light from the Alienware logo and a u-shaped light bar on the vertical support. The lights cycled through a range of colors and ended in a nice glowing red. I connected the monitor to my Geforce equipped computer with an HDMI cable for video and a USB upstream cable for enabling the two USB ports on the bottom of the monitor. The power button for the monitor is on the bottom right. When pressed, it will cycle through colors until blue.

    Configuration Menu

A push of a small joystick button on the right back of the monitor enables the monitor configuration menu. This menu provides settings for Game Modes, Input Sources, AlienFX Lighting, Display settings, Audio volume, Menu settings, Personalize settings for customizing the three Shortcut buttons, and Other settings.

The AlienFX Lighting settings are for configuring the light colors of the logo, stand light, and power button. I set mine to Spectrum for rotating through all the colors. Other settings are for enabling DDC/CI, LCD Conditioning, Firmware version, Service Tag, and Factory Reset.

    Game Modes

The monitor comes with five preset modes:

    -Standard

    -FPS: First Person Shooters

-MOBA/RTS: Multiplayer Online Battle Arena and Real-Time Strategy games.

    -RPG: Role-Playing Games

-SPORTS: Best color settings for sports games

Three custom game modes can be saved and assigned to the three bottom push buttons on the back of the monitor.

    Gaming

The performance of this monitor is crazy fast. My games of choice are No Man's Sky, Hardspace Shipbreaker, Sid Meier's Civilization V, and Minecraft. The monitor was able to handle everything I threw at it. Entirely no ghosting, no stuttering, or frame freezing. Only on No Man's Sky did I get a bit of stuttering in the maximum graphic settings, which is due to my video card and not the monitor.

    Pros

-Crazy fast performance. A gray-to-gray response of 1ms in Extreme mode.

-The stand is very adjustable in height and tilt. Monitor can be rotated to portrait for us code geeks.

-Beautiful non-glare monitor with a nice looking edge-to-edge minimum bevel.

-Back-mounted joystick control for monitor settings.

-Plenty of ports for connectivity. 2 HDMI, 1 DP, Upstream USB, 2 USB out on the bottom, 2 USB out on the back, Headphones jack, and Audio out.

-It can be mounted to VESA mounts.

-Supports AMD FreeSync for the highest possible frame rates.

-DDC/CI support for controlling the monitor settings from the computer, via Alienware's downloadable software.

-LCD Conditioning for reducing minor cases of image retention.

The non-glare coating and the ability to rotate makes this monitor a flexible choice for gaming, programming, and writing.

-Timer display mode for 30,40,50,60,90 minutes. Nice for in-game cycle reminders.

    Cons

-While the manual says the monitor is Nvidia G-Sync compatible, I could not find any settings for controlling this. G-Sync is hardware-driven, whereas AMD FreeSync is software-driven. Since FreeSync is touting compatibility with G-Sync, I feel this can't be accomplished without integrating the G-Sync hardware.

-The Frame Rate setting only showed the Refresh Rate of the monitor, and it never did show the Frame Rate of the games.

-The base of the monitor stand is deep at 10.5 inches. Be prepared to lose some desk space.

    Some Specs and Features

    -AW2521HFL, Lunar Light model.

-Interface: HDMI (2), USB 3.0, DP

    -Headphone port.

    -Audio line-out.

    -Resolution: 1920 x 1080

    -Refresh: 240Hz with 1ms response

-Video Compatibility: AMD Free Sync, G-Sync compatible

    -Brightness: 400 nits

-On-Screen Design with six preset modes for quick selection of screen settings to match the gaming mode.

-On-screen timer for tracking time-based game events.

-FPS Counter for showing frame rate touted but did not work.

-Visual alignment lines for aligning with multiple monitors.

    -VESA standard mounting holes

-TN panel, LED edgelight system, Active matrix. TFT LCD 1920 x 1080 at 240 Hz and 1 ms gray-to-gray response time.

-Preset video modes for First-Person Shooter, Real-Time Strategy, RPG, and Racing. And three customizable game modes.

    -Back-mounted joystick for monitor controls.

-Selectable color modes for the back of monitor Alienware logo and light strip.

-Dark Stabilizer mode for improving visibility in dark gaming scenarios.

    Summary

The Alienware 25" Gaming Monitor is an ideal match for gaming and working. The lack of a "true" Nvidia G-Sync implementation is a minor detail, and the monitor can handle whatever I could throw at it. It is a perfect match for my dual-use needs.

    Amazing

What a screen. If you are having doubts about this monitor, don’t; go out and buy it. I was used to playing in a 65” 4K TV, and I thought going to this was going to be hard. One day after, what frames I was missing out on. Tried playing in a 60hz display and could not believe how I put up with such a low performance display before. Go, get it, thank me later.

    Worth It in my Opinion

I have only been using this about a month now. I love it. I can adjust the stand up and down (I wish it could go up about another 1/2 inch as my eyes are at the top third of the screen if I look straight ahead). The screen can also be tilted in different directions. I am a casual gamer playing games like Minecraft, Fallout 76, A Plague Tale Innocence, Monster Sanctuary, etc. I have not experienced any difficulty with lagging, dark areas or pixelation. I also stream movies and the picture is great. The size of the screen is perfect for me. It was suggested I get a larger screen, but reviews on the larger screen said it had some issues. I did buy a display port cable and I could see a big difference between using HDMI and DisplayPort. I also bought separate speakers as the monitor does not have built in speakers. I have not tried to use FreeSync or G-Sync since I have not experienced lag or screen tearing with the games I play. I like the amount of connectivity ports: 2 HDMI, 1 DisplayPort, 5 USB and 1 headphone jack. There are a lot of preset settings you can choose or make your own custom settings that affect color, contrast, brightness, etc. You can fine tune this monitor exactly how you like it. I had purchased a less expensive monitor and returned it. Spending the extra money for this monitor was definitely worth it.

    A Gamer's screen for sure

The Acer - XB272 27" LED FHD GSync Monitor is a great gamer's monitor. The speed is incredible, and the ability to modify the black levels (dark boost levels) is awesome. The Predator XB272 is 240Hz, giving it a super smooth gameplay, without any motion blur that you may get from regular monitors. No matter how fast-moving the action is, Ultra Low Motion Blur (ULMB) technology makes moving objects appear perfectly sharp, without the annoying effects of smearing or ghosting.

If you are just wanting to use this monitor for regular laptop usage, you may want a higher resolution monitor with different specs, as this is truly meant for gaming usage, with regular use too. It has a resolution of 1820 x 1080, so the text and icons are actually larger than my other 2 monitors and laptop (yes I have 4 screens at once). So when I use it for other "standard" computer stuff like word, Photoshop and internet, it seems like I am in old-person mode. BUT, when gaming, that is insignificant, and the resolution is perfect.

The monitor has a joystick-like button on the back right corner of the screen. At first, it was a little hard to get used to, but after playing around with it, you can figure it out. They label things on the screen when you push the button, so there is no guessing if volume up moves things at a menu level or selection level. That is good.

The (4) USB plugs in the monitor are a high-speed 3.0 port, so it is great to connect my stuff to the monitor without having the cords come from the computer. Nice to plug my headset, keyboard, mouse and phone into as well.

Something I was shocked by was the quality of the speaker (2) built-in 2W. Granted, who is really going to use the monitor for sound? My laptop speakers are better.

The stand is smartly designed, so that it doesn't interfere with my keyboard I have right in front of it. The stand has 4 legs (a big X) and it feels pretty sturdy. The fact that the monitor can go up and down and tilt in a great amount of degree is fantastic. My previous "big" monitor would only go from tall to taller. This goes very low, and matches the bottom of my other monitors.

There is a Display port as well as an HDMI port, so whatever suits your fancy. I used a display port because my laptop doesnt have an open HDMI port.

I would give this monitor a 4.5 purely because the speakers are pretty much pointless. But because that is basically an added bonus of an entity, I am giving this 5 stars.

You get what you pay for!

This monitor comes at a hefty price. Luckily, I caught it on sale for $399 and and have this as a primary gaming monitor. I had a 4K 60 and 1ms monitor which was beautiful but has an obvious input delay when compared to my other Dell 2K, 144hz, 1ms, I again dropped down to the predator a free playing with an esports gamer with the same monitor. I purchased a refurbished monitor with the same specs and was a believer after playing just a few games and always coming in 7th and 8th if FFA in Gears 5! The fluidity of movement was evident after going into the settings and turning on GSYNC. I purchased a 2nd! This monitor is a must have if your a competitive gamer.

    Great monitor for competitive play!

Yes it’s 1080p, 240hz, TN panel. If you aren’t a competitive player I see no use for 240hz. 144hz is the sweet spot for casual gaming. The speakers shouldn’t had been included because they are the worst speakers I’ve ever heard. Monitor allows multiple choices of refresh rate. Overall if you got the specs to reach 200fps+ on 1080p then consider buying it.

Dual use monitor for PS4 & PC but...

This was a very spontaneous purchase for me, I simply bought this to play with my girlfriend in the same room but on our own systems. Little did I know, this would be the best thing to happen because the monitor itself offers HDMI & DP connections which allows me to swap between using the PS4 or the PC at any given point. It is not 4K but I’d rather have my 240hz with 1920x1080 resolution simply because it renders beautifully and the details are so much better compared to using my 65” 4K UHD tv plus it runs much more smooth when gaming via PC. The monitor is sturdy & can do a 45 degree turn incase you want it vertical instead of horizontal. My only complain would be the built-in speaker because the quality is horrible (which is why I ordered some computer speakers) to the point that I think even the speaker from a PS4 controller is more loud & clear.

    G-Sync & 240 Hz is awesome

    ======= Summary =======

The Acer XB272 G-Sync monitor is a great gaming monitor. It has a cool design, a solid build quality, has good ergonomics, offers numerous calibration options, and most importantly, offers buttery smooth gameplay and FPS via its G-Sync functionality, 240 Hz refresh rate and 1 ms response time. The built-in speakers, however, are simply horribly awful. For a TN panel, the viewing angle is pretty good but not as good as high-end IPS panels. Overall, though, the XB272 G-Sync monitor is a great package that will give competitive and serious gamers an edge in gaming.

    *Pros:

    -Sleek design.

    -Easy to assemble.

-Useful ergonomic features (tilt, swivel, height adjustment).

-27" is a good size for a gaming monitor used on a desk.

-Easy to operate OSD/monitor setting buttons and "joystick."

    -Numerous calibration options available.

    -240 Hz refresh rate~! 1ms response time~!

-G-Sync technology for nVIDIA GPU owners.

    -Display is very bright.

    -Includes USB 3.0 ports.

    *Cons:

-Out of the box, the calibration was off and content looked poor.

-Up-to-Down viewing angle change leads to severe color shifting, color accuracy reduction, and loss of luminance. Side-to-Side angle change is better but still not as good as an IPS panel.

-1080P (not as crispy and pixel-dense as higher resolutions).

    -Built-in speakers are horrible.

    ======= Design & Build Quality =======

Unboxing and assembling the Acer XB272 monitor was a pleasure. It was well-packaged, easy to remove and gather everything, and put everything together. Besides the necessary power cord, Acer also includes a Display Port cable, an HDMI cable, a USB cable, and a plastic bracket to hold your headphone behind the monitor. I didn't install that optional headphone holder but I thought it was a nice and thoughtful addition from Acer.

The monitor is solid and looks very durable with its higher-quality plastic and metal parts. The bezels are skinny and pleasing to my eyes.

All the ergonomic features were easy to use - tilt, swivel, and height adjustment. The effort required to adjust the monitor felt just right and once the monitor has been set into its new position, it stayed put.

Acer put the monitor setting buttons behind the panel in the lower-right corner and it was easier to access and operate than I initially expected. There is a joystick-like lever/button behind the monitor and it made navigating between the menus fast and simple. A very nice design.

All in all, it is a well-built and well-designed product from Acer.

    ======= Panel Quality =======

Out of the box, I was disappointed with the factory calibration. The colors looked off, the contrast was set too high, the blacks didn't look natural, and reading text on a white background was distracting due to jagginess and a general lack of smoothness. Fortunately, Acer gives the user ample control over the calibration settings and I was able to calibrate the XB272 to my satisfaction.

Here are the settings I used:

    -Mode: User

    -Brightness: 65 (for gaming)

    -Contrast: 40

    -Gamma: Gaming

-Color temperature: User (Red: 47, Green: 53, Blue: 54)

    -Saturation: 100

Acer allows you to save up to three custom calibration settings which is a great and thoughtful feature.

I also opened up the nVIDIA Control Panel and set Gamma to +0.92 and Digital Vibrance to 55%.

After calibrating as above, the display "came alive" and content began to look really good and I became happy and satisfied. :)

As expected from a $500 monitor, the amount of light bleeding was low and very good (an advantage over IPS displays) and there were no dead or stuck pixels.

Now to the "Cons." The XB272, being a TN panel, suffers from color distortion and luminance loss when the viewing angle changes. The Side-to-Side viewing angle change is okay and actually pretty good for a TN panel. But when there is a Up-to-Down viewing angle change, there is severe distortion in color accuracy, color shifting, and loss in luminance. So just look straight on at the monitor and not from above or below. Realistically, I don't think this is a big issue because I certainly do not bend my body down on a desk to look up at the monitor while I'm gaming or reading.

Another weakness of the XB272 are its two 2W stereo speakers. They are the most awful speakers I've ever heard. Even with the volume at 100%, the sound sounded like they were coming from far away, was teeny, and very hollow. Bass is expected to be awful on monitor speakers and they certainly are awful on the XB272 as well. When my wife heard the audio coming out the monitor, she laughed out loud because they sounded so bad, LOL~.

Another slight "Con" for me is that the XB272 is only a 1080P panel. My main monitor prior to getting the XB272 was an Asus Designo MX27AQ 27" 2560x1440 IPS monitor. As a result of the pixel density dropping from ~3.6 million pixels to ~2 million pixels, some games and content looked more "soft" and not as sharp. But I also understand that this is a trade-off that Acer made to put in a nVIDIA G-Sync display that is capable of hitting a 240 Hz refresh rate. On the bright side, by playing at 1080P on my nVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card, I can run all my games at full eye-candy mode (e.g., Ultra, Very High, Highest) and not suffer from framerate drops or inconsistencies.

With that said, I still like the panel overall because: (1) I have my own gaming speaker setup, (2) the more important Side-to-Side viewing angle distortion is acceptable and good for a TN panel, and (3) after calibration, the display looks great and accurate.

    ======= Gaming Performance =======

Paired up with my nVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card, I can run ALL of my games at the highest graphical settings and enjoy super buttery-smooth gameplay and consistently high framerates. Even when playing hectic and fast-paced games such as Final Fantasy 15 with its dizzying array of special effects, there is only smoothness with no screen tearing nor motion blur. It's a beautiful and fulfilling experience.

If you are a gamer and you have a G-Sync supporting GPU from nVIDIA, you owe it to yourself to try a monitor with G-Sync refresh rate technology. You won't regret it.

    ======= My Verdict =======

Overall, I really like the Acer XB272 G-Sync monitor and I give it a 8.5 out of 10. I recommend it for its sleek & ergonomic design, good panel quality (after calibration), and superb G-Sync experience and performance that elevates your gaming experience to the next level. I only wish the resolution was a bit sharper by going up to the WQHD (2560x1440) resolution.

True Visuals, True 240hz, True Bliss.

Words can not describe the Acer XB272 27" monitor. Your eyes have to see the glory of 240hz. My configuration isn't a high class (Pretty old at this point. Specs: Intel Core i5-4670k, Nvidia GTX 980TI, and 16 GB RAM.) but it does well for PC gaming only. I was previously using an Acer XB270HU @ 1440p 144hz paired into G-Sync but even that feels extreamly outdated compaied to this.

Recently AAA games have been getting more and more demanding and finding the right balance between framerate and good visuals have been difficult for me. XB272 solves my issues with gaming while still giving me a good resolution. The true star of the show here is the 240hz. This alone was more than enough for me to give up 1440p. The zero point frame rate with the colors of this monitor was beautiful playing games like Final Fantasy XV, Grand Theft Auto V, Batman: Arkham Knight, and more.

Taking out the box was easy and simple. I pulled it out alone and there are instructions on the flap of the box. 4 simple steps to step it up without the instructions were perfect. So easy to do and get you set up and running in no time. Acer was kind enough to include all cords for you to get going unlike in the past. DisplayPort, HDMI, Power, and USB cords are all included. On the side of the monitor is two USB 3 ports that can also charge your phone/device while the monitor is off.

Placing it on the desk and turning it on the GPU automatically recognized the monitor after connecting. Going into your NVIDIA Control settings and enable G-Sync (compatible with Nvidia's graphics cards.) From there you can witness 60hz, 144hz, and 240hz. Cranking it up to 240hz will show you just how smooth gameplay can truly be on PC. I've tried multiple games on Steam the first being Counter-Strike: GO with not a frame missing at all and precision aim was so satisfying. Overwatch ran like butter and so did Batman: AK as the city just bloomed with lights really popped on the monitor but it did not drop a frame at all.

My favorite games like GTA V, Killing Floor 2, Bioshock Infinite ran like I never seen them run on TV before. My final test was Final Fantasy XV...I can not tell you how much of a pain to see it running on a PS4 Pro after coming to see the flawless framerate it had to offer. XB272 showcased all of the particles from the magic of the game so crisp. This was the way FFXV was meant to be played hands down and I'm embarrassed for even buying the game for consoles. Its just the amazing response times gives this game a look and feel on the XB272 that makes my jaw drop.

I want to take a moment to talk about their bezels on the monitor which is ULTRA THIN. I personally never seen anything like this before and reminds me of Dell's InfinityEdge for the sake of comparison. There are the thinnest bezels I've used in my entire lifetime of using a PC and I'm in love...With more of these paired together, you wouldn't be distracted by the black bar during screen switch. XB272 also have 3D vision support but I don't have the glasses to test out.

At first, I was unsure if I wanted to replay these games @ 1080p and I was put off but after using this G-sync monitor I want to go back and play games in a different light. To me, that's what 144gz/240hz gives you. It makes you see games in a different way than before. Feels better, Plays better, and looks better. Your eyes have to witness what I mean for you to truly understand.

There is a host of Options in the monitor's menu such as OSD, OverDrive, Aim Assist, Framerate counter, User color options, Brightness, Inputs...you know the usual. set them up to your liking and your good to go.

So whats the bad news about the monitor? I know a lot of gamers don't care about this but the speakers...The speakers oh...they are BAD. Like so bad that my iPhone 8 Plus has the louder better sounding speakers. HTC One from years ago has better speakers. I like a nice clean setup but don't use the speakers on this thing. Look I get it no one person would use these things but why put them in if its useless? if anything I rather them not even try.

Acer Predator line is awesome and this is G-Sync Monitor is a knock out of the park. It's something someone has to see to appreciate PC gaming at its finest. Just seeing those PC games run without a hitch and to see the smoothness of real 240gz was a treat. would I recommend this to a friend? YES. If they play PC games and have G-Sync? YES! I am in love with it.

    Amazing For The Buck

Grade $350 budget Monitor it runs 240 Hz smoothly the response time on it is insanely quick coming up at 4 ms has multiple settings to mess with does not come with speakers one flaw that I didn’t really like my desk is small and this monitors mount pushes it forward so I had a really small room to work with until I got another monitor mount And that’s not my problem 27 inch average display curve that makes certain games like rainbow six siege modern warfare and any type of call of duty game or FOV Changeable game really nice would 100% recommends

Best monitor in it’s class IMO

I got this on sale for $299 and I am more than satisfied. It matches my 8 series curved TVs as well. The 240 refresh rate is amazing! S Ruth img about this monitor is great! I originally purchased the 24 inch monitor and still have it (I’m going to return it) but the difference was immediately obvious and most definitely worth the extra money especially with the sale!

Over all its does work fine and doesnt seem to be messed up. I still need to do the firmware update and once that's done im sure ill be happy. (not that im not happy now) Im not very happend in the condition the box came in and the missing hdmi cable. I was almost sure something was broken inside.

Bought 2 of these to get a matching monitor set up for my pc. I was okay with the faker edition since the other is out of stock and ran into a sale for $100 off so I purchased. Got them all set up and played a few games and noticble color differences and the increased 240 hz is wonderful the only issue I have is the color bleed from the screen but it's not as noticible in most games just on a pure black wallpaper. The curve is nice and I love the overall feel and the unboxing was pretty nice.

    The zero compromise monitor, but...

This monitor looks amazing! I love it. There it is not without it's issues though. First, there is an issue with flickering when G-Sync is enabled. This goes away if you disable G-sync. What seems to trigger it are medium gray colors. I believe this to be an issue with Nvidia's GPU drivers (I am using a 3090FE). Also, Nvidia has messed up Display Stream Compression in it's latest drivers so you cannot go to 240hz refresh with the current drivers, You have to use Nvidia's driver version 456.98 to enable 240hz mode. Lastly, there are now adjustable monitor arms that can support the weight of this monitor as it is curved, the one I bought even though I tightened the tilt bolt all the way would still sag. I ended up using a steel pin though the hinge to stop the sag. If you are planning on using the included stand or using a wall mount you will be fine.

    Awesome piece of kit

Absolute beast of a monitor, picture is incredible and the curve takes a bit of getting used to but it doesn't take long.

Monitor does get warm (it's huge so no surprise) I grabbed a USB fan which I keep on and aimed at the unit to keep it cooler.

No big issue just something to be aware of.

It is super fast and crisp at all speeds and the g-sync compatability works well.

All in all this thing is incredible but make sure you have the desk space for it, pictures do not do it justice. It is Massive!

    This is NOT the G97T

I ordered this as the G97 is supposed to be the updated 'business' version of the G95 with most of the issues corrected. I am hoping that perhaps they have ironed out the quality control issues, and this G95 will not be troublesome, even though it did arrive with one dead pixel.

The chat support was utterly worthless on this issue.

It was love at first site, but it didn't last...

Samsung censored my last review on their site, so I'll leave this with BestBuy instead. Quality control is very obviously lacking on these displays. Against all public recommendations (Reddit, Google, etc.) gave this monitor a try only for it to let me down. Great looking piece of equipment and I would have loved for it to have worked, but my first interaction with it is a defective display and Samsung support does not recommend using the 1008 firmware (which fixes 240hz mode with 30 series Nvidia cards) even though this G97T monitor ships with G95T firmware. (Samsung doesn't update the G97T specific firmware for some reason). I would stay away from this display unless you want to go through several returns finding a decent one and are willing to troubleshoot the display driver and Nvidia compatibility on your own.

Gaming Feature Rich Monitor - Over priced

As a previous owner of the CHG70 (Samsung's last 144hz iteration of this display) - This is effectively a very nice refined revision of it.

It has a nicer curve than the CHG70.

It still has a 125% color gamut with Qled.

    Contrast is still excellent.

It has an even higher refresh rate at 240hz and appears to have minimized smearing significantly (an issue on the CHG70).

Cable management has been added which is really slick.

Additional lighting points have been added in the front and now has customizable colors. I think it looks great.

Finally G-Sync compatible. (Adaptive sync needs to be on in the menu.)

Side note: If you set this to 10-bit at 240hz on an Nvidia card, you may find your display is stretched when you apply it. Just reboot the computer.

I did not have any issues with dead pixels.

Backlight uniformity seems fine. I don't mind some cloudiness.

I personally don't like bright spots and I haven't noticed any in gaming or regular/work use.

As far as cons I don't have much.

The stand is gigantic as it was previously on the CHG70.

The vertical part of the stand no longer bends forward/backward when sliding up/down like it did previously and it is much better.

The legs of the stand are very wide to allow for keyboard space but you lose a foot or more of depth on your desk. Keep this in mind because you may be much closer to the screen if you don't have a deep desk.

To better reference this, from the back of your desk, measure 1 foot towards your sitting location. The closest point to where your sitting is how close the screen is. (See pictures).

The monitor does wobble easily while typing. I don't care all that much and while gaming, you're not typing stories so its a non issue for me.

Only a 1 year warranty on a $700 monitor is absolutely terrible. Other brands offer a better value and some offer a 3 year warranty. I find this unacceptable especially if this is a "Premium" monitor. I'm hoping this goes on sale in the return period because at $499 or even at a stretch at $599 I could rationalize it better.

Overall, the colors, refresh rate, and curve I think are excellent and offer something pleasing from the king of the mobile display market.

I just don't know that its worth $700. In the chance the monitor fails just after a year I would be extremely upset. So much so I would consider returning it.

I have a 24" Dell 1440p 165hz G-Sync TN panel. It might have only display 70% of the colors and average 700:1 contrast compared to 125% and 2500:1. . . but it was $250 on sale. It can be completely replaced almost twice before even breaking this monitor once.

That price is a major factor for me and it is beyond luxury priced above $500. The monitor itself is excellent otherwise.

I would recommend this to a rich friend, but not someone just trying to get by in covid.

New technology in the Odyssey G7 is AMAZING!!!

I highly recommended this monitor for intense gaming. I have had it long enough to learn how to get the most out of it. This monitor has the nvdia G sync thing going on too. It's future proof because of the new dot technology it incorporates and the curve is enough to immerse you almost totally in the game of your choice. The best graphics goes to War Thunder. Its free to play and you can also purchase premium tanks, heli's, prop planes and jets, and even ships. The game is an absolute monster!!! Game on brothers and sisters!

Great monitor this is one of very very few monitors that I can say is worthy.

Everything about it is great people talk about back light bleed come on get real its not that big of a deal blacks are still awsome.

Coming from a 4k monitor I wanted better frames this is everything plus what I'd want.

And can't say the diff between 4k and 2560/1440

Is all that drastic but definitely won't let u down.

HDMI no 4k with free sync on.

In order to get 4k hdr via hdmi port, on this Samsung odyssey 27" curved g7 monitor you have to turn off the free sync feature .which means the refresh rate will only be 144 hz not full 240 hz. With free sync on via hdmi you get only 1080p. You only get the full 4k hdr with 240 hz with the display port input with free sync on.thinking of returning this and get the older one I had Samsung odyssey ghg7 which had 144hz max refresh rate.

Great potential, Samsung still cant do monitors

I had high hopes for this monitor as it checked off all the boxes for me, I was hoping this could be what replaced LG's 27GL850 as the new 1440p champ given that LG decided to go 4K for their high end gaming monitors this year (Which I think has little point at 27"). I felt this was Samsung's chance to prove they were done treating their gaming monitors as second class citizens and while the specs are great the experience of actually using it falls flat.

For starts lets go over the main selling points for me:

1440p - Perfect for the 27" size, nice and sharp but without going overkill.

240hz - This still gives a nice boost in smoothness and responsiveness, I also did not notice the usual black smear that commonly plagues VA displays which is awesome. I am usually not one to like VA panels due to that but this one performs well.

VESA HDR 600 - While like most computer monitors this still can't take full advantage of HDR, and window's HDR implementation still needs a lot of improvements, this can at least hit 600nits peak brightness. I do feel that HDR games look better on this screen than when I play them in SDR. I still would rather play a cinematic game on my OLED but at least when I am sitting at my desk gaming on the G7 I don't feel the need to turn HDR off.

VRR - This is where things really start to fall apart the 27" version of this monitor has a VRR Range of 60-240Hz (80-240 on the 32"). I also can only speak to the Nvidia experience but given this is certified it should be fine, right? Not even close. I have never once noticed flicker on my GL850 but it happens all the time in certain scenarios on the G7. Seems anytime the frame time exceeds about 6-7ms (So say like an unstable 150fps) you can get flicker if the scene is a high contrast scene. This was the same place for 2 different monitors I have received (Had to swap out the first due to it having 3 dead pixels). I used CRU to try to fix this issue by bumping up the bottom of the VRR range to help this issue but I had to move it up so much to eliminate it that it made VRR just note as worth it.

While the VRR annoyance had me nearly returning this monitor this rest of the experience is the reason why I will.

For starters something else I noticed (And this seems to maybe be related to the VRR flicker) is that certain images/content on screen will cause this odd effect where every other line is a different intensity and the whole screen dims. The content that seems to do this is content that once again is high contrast that only a small part of it is bright. Given this just like with the VRR flicker happens "randomly" it can be distracting a take away from the experience.

I have attached two pictures showing the comparison of what it looks like when this happens, this is hard to capture since a camera tried to smooth it together given how small it is but it gives you an idea, and in the real world it is very noticeable every time it happens.

Also when my computer turns the screen off for a bit and thus this monitor goes to sleep takes forrrrevverrr to go back to displaying an image. It takes multiple seconds to do so and comes on and off multiple time in the process. I thought maybe the monitor had a deep sleep mode like dell does, but if it does there is no way to turn it off. Firmware updates feel like they have made this worse, not better. Also because of this if you are going to use this monitor in a multi monitor setup persistent windows is going to be a godsend.

Lastly when the display goes into this sleep mode it turns off the USB controller. Most monitors only turn this off when you manually turn the display off, but this one will also just do it after a certain amount of time. That means no long file transfers using the USB ports on the monitor (Not that that is a big deal given how hard they are to access). But in my case as someone who uses a USB DAC plugged into the monitor for my audio this means if I am playing a game, hit pause, and come back in a few minutes then I need to reboot the game since my audio controller is no longer seen by the game since it was affectively unplugged and plugged back in.

In conclusion this monitor shows that while Samsung may be ready to take Gaming Computer Monitors seriously their years of not caring and not understanding what PC gamers expect from a monitor is what kills this monitor. If you are looking in this price range DONT buy this monitor, I know it is tempting, but if you can, just wait a few more months until monitors start coming out with the new IPS 1440p 240hz panel from LG that we have seen on a few companies roadmaps. If you can't wait then I would say just go down to the 27GL850, the price just to the G7 is just not worth it given the little features you gain and the giant headaches that come with it.

    Not that great unfortunately.

Not too Happy. Paid a good amount for it only for this white line/ scratch to show up a month later. Very unfortunate because besides that it's an exceptional monitor. Unfortunately poor customer service from Samsung due to them essentially telling me to kick rocks will have me leaving a poor review. Get a monitor from a company that cars at least a tad more.

    Awesome purchase and quality

Great monitor, coming from a 4k 32" 60hz and the difference with my rtx 2070 was impressive but with my EVGA Rtx3090 ultra gaming, the detail is extremely impressive. Stock settings are OK but when you adjust to your liking plus use G-sync it's a big difference. Highly suggest if you have spent big money on a pc and accessories that you need to spend the money on a quality monitor like this one. If not it's like having a sports car with Yugo tires on it. You won't get the full potential of your cpu and GPU without it.

    G7 32"

At first I was a little hesitant on buying this. But I wanted a bigger monitor and a curved one. And Xmas was coming up, so I put it on my list. I set it up and was amazed at it. Even tho there was some things not set up, and the instructions was just on how to put it together. I did figuer on how to get and learn about everything. Now that I got it up and running right I want another one. I did have and issue with the on screen controls. But going online to see what they was talking about I got that right. The on and off switch is a toggle switch for all your controls. Then the dpi cable was not working. But then again I that that my port on my card had gone out, because on my old monitor I had to switch it to the HDMI cable. Ok so researching this I seen a lot of people was having the same problem. And further research suggested that you make SURE the dpi cable is all the way in. So with that, checking with the old monitor. All is good and now I would like to get another one. One more thing. On the G7 under the gaming controls, it says it has a virtual cross hair. I didn't know it did, but my old one did and glad that G7 does. Just remember to go on line to check the set up instructions. There is none in the box except on how to put the thing together. Screen shots. the 1st is Ghost Recon Wildlands and the 2nd is Break Point. The 3rd is bench marks.

    Do NOT BUY OPEN BOX

Never Buy Open Box Products. Monitor is great but it’s missing parts. Samsung doesn’t have pictures to the parts online, so they keep sending me the wrong parts. They have sent me 3 so far and they aren’t the correct ones. It’s a hassle to get through. Monitor was missing both covers. The cover to the back of the monitor and the cover to the stand. My monitor looks horrible. Spent close to $700 for a non complete monitor. And it was labeled “Excellent condition” by Best Buy. Now I’m stuck with it because I missed the 14 days deadline to return it. I thought “Excellent condition” was a good enough rate to trust. DO NOT TRUST OPEN BOX CONDITIONS FROM BEST BUY. Good luck guys. Don’t mess with Samsung customer service either. Just return it immediately if you are missing anything from the box.

A True Gaming Monitor With Few Compromises

The Samsung Odyssey G7 is one beautiful piece of technology.

Gaming on this monitor has been a pleasure. Colors pop and images are crisp.

HDR is pretty good but definitely not true HDR as it is not a full array display and is lacking local dimming zones. For being a monitor with an MSRP that comes in just shy of $800 that is to be expected. HDR reduces the brightness of the screen by around 30% which, in all honesty, is fine since this monitor is extremely bright when HDR is turned off.

I have seen reviews of some of these monitors with the blacks appearing very bright around the edges. I am happy to say my monitor doesn't have this issue. All colors appear extremely uniform and blacks are dark especially with HDR enabled and allowed to contrast with brighter colors.

The refresh rate is insane. My RTX 3080 is putting in some major work pushing out frames to keep up with the 240Hz.

Please bear in mind that this monitor does not have speakers. You will need to buy speakers or use headphones.

The curve is aggressive. That is a positive for me as I rather enjoy the immersion it provides and I don't plan on making this a dual-monitor set-up.

No dead pixel issues of any sort.

I would highly recommend this monitor to anyone looking for a curved gaming monitor.

    1440p at 240Hz > 4k 120Hz any day of the week ;)

Amazing Monitors ruined by Dead Pixels!

After receiving and unboxing FOUR of these monitors, I'm ready to write my review:

Spec for spec, this is the best gaming monitor that Best Buy offers. It's the only one with 240hz refresh rate, 1440p QHD resolution, QLED, GSYNC, and HDR support. This monitor is amazing! It has a huge 32" screen (which I didn't even know I needed until now). Gaming on this is a dream! The colors are vibrant, the HDR makes them really pop. The 240hz refresh rate is buttery smooth! You would expect nothing but the best from Samsung, right? WRONG!!!

Upon ordering and receiving the FIRST monitor and inspecting the screen, my excitement and enthusiasm was immediately deflated due to dead pixels - one in the bottom right, and one in the top right. I called Best Buy support to report the problem. They were very sympathetic and kindly shipped me a SECOND replacement monitor. To my dismay, the second monitor also had dead pixels. This time in the dead center of the screen. When I called Best Buy customer service, they told me they could not ship me another monitor because they had already done a reship, so instead I took the second (worse) monitor into the store for a return.

The representative was really nice and helpful. She set me up with a THIRD monitor to be shipped to me. Third time's the charm, right? Spoiler alert...NOPE! I received the third monitor and this time there were stuck pixels in the center of the screen. They were stuck on red so they only showed up on green, blue, and white images, but still very annoying and distracting.

After being in complete and utter despair after having received THREE bad monitors, I had resolved myself to just keeping the original monitor because at least the dead pixels were in remote corners of the screen and less noticeable. Upon returning the third defective monitor, the Best Buy store manager surprisingly offered to ship me a FOURTH monitor. Reluctantly, I agreed because, I mean, what are the odds of getting 4 bad ones? I was actually in shock of how awesome and patient and understanding the Best Buy staff has been through this! I can't praise them enough!

Well, today I received the FOURTH monitor and you guessed it...DEAD and STUCK pixels!!! There was another red stuck pixel (seems to be common with this model), a group of dark gray pixels that never changed right in the middle of the screen, and a dead pixel in the bottom right. Ughhh.

At this point, if there was another brand of monitor that could offer me all of the features that this monitor has I would go with it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately...there isn't. So I guess I will begrudgingly hold on to the original monitor since it had the least amount of dead pixels because I just love this monitor so much and nothing else compares. It just infuriates me that Samsung could have this horrible of quality control! Ironically, I'm a big Samsung user. I have the Samsung Note 20 Ultra (no dead pixels), and I have 2 Samsung 4k TVs (both without any dead pixels). Until this, I have been happy with all my Samsung products. I don't know why their gaming monitor division is so terrible!

If you are considering rolling the dice and playing "Pixel Roulette" with this monitor, make sure you purchase the Geek Squad protection plan because you are almost certain to see dead pixels at some point in the life of the monitor. Looking at Samsung's warrantee policy, they say that they will NOT warrantee any device unless it has more than SEVEN dead pixels!! Are you kidding me?? That in itself is an unforgiveable travesty, and tells you that they must KNOW that they are intentionally shipping screens with dead pixels!! What the heck Samsung??? If you are paying $800-$1000 for a TV/monitor, it should have ZERO pixel problems. So make absolutely sure you get the Best Buy coverage!

If you are a pixel peeper like me, then I would suggest staying away. You're only setting yourself up for heartache and a LOT of trips back to Best Buy. If you are the type of person who doesn't see dead pixels or doesn't even understand what I'm talking about, then go ahead and get this monitor. You'll probably love it. If you do happen to get a monitor without dead pixels, congratulations! You won the lottery! You will enjoy a fantastic gaming monitor! Sadly, that's not something that I will ever get to experience....

    Final ratings:

    Best Buy Staff: A++

The monitor itself (assuming you get a good one): A

    Samsung Quality Control: F-

    Gorgeous & Mountable!

I ordered two of the 32" G7 monitors, and while I did test them with my older PC to verify they work, have little backlight bleed, and briefly viewed their performance in Fortnite, they currently sit awaiting my new gaming PC. I will update my review after using them for gaming and video editing (as G-Sync apparently has flickering issues from what I've read in other reviews), but I wanted to share photos of how nice this monitor looks when mounted.

Yes, this is a Vesa 100x100 mount monitor, and it does come with the mounting plate. Be aware that when mounting, you cannot install the plastic ring on the back of the monitor where the LED display is or the cover to hide the cords (this particular mounting bracket does have cable management features though). I mounted two 32" panels on a Mount-It 1772 desktop bracket, and it does a pretty good job of holding these beasts at attention, though tilt adjusting is a bit tedious. Since the G7 has a large stand, mounting saves considerable desk space if you don't mind pulling your desk away from the wall a bit.

Stay tuned for more once I am able to test these puppies with an RTX 2080ti and Ryzen 9 3950x.

    Very Good but overpriced

    Very Good Picture, Colorful HDR600

Many don't know how to use a HDR monitor, These are my tips :

    1. Install the LATEST driver for your Graphic Card

    2. Install the Monitor Driver ( for Color Profile )

    3. Make sure the Monitor is updated with the latest firmware

    4. Don't turn on the Windows HDR, let apps to turn on the HDR

( for example if you want to watch HDR movies, use your player software like MPC + MADVR plugin, MADVR automatically shifts to HDR mode if the video has HDR stream ).

for many games it is also switches automatically. like DOOM

    5. Windows "night mode ( eyes protection ) " ruins the HDR ! make sure to turn it off while you are in HDR mode.

    Cons :

    1. Monitor stand is cheap plastic, I wish it was solid metal like alienware. so sometimes when you rotate the display the stand stand rotates with monitor too! because the stand is very light.

( as for Alienware the Stand is very heavy and solid but the display is light. Samsung the Stand is light but display is heavy! ).

    2. Expensive for no reason!

Excellent gaming experience, curve not detrimental

FAST VA panel. It does have very little black smear compared to previous VA ultrawide I had. Tried 240hz IPS but can't stand IPS glow. Much better contrast than IPS, so blacks are deeper, not OLED deep but better. You don't get a weak contrast + glow combo like in IPS panels which makes playing AAA games with darker scenery a lot less distracting for me. Stuck with 27" version for more pixel density. Overall balanced gaming experience. 1440p has less detail than 4k but pushes more fps for smoother gameplay. You get use to the curve. This is Faker version, get whichever G7 version cheaper or on sale like I did. Doesn't come with Faker figurines like in Samsung ad.

Amazing monitor for use with xbox series x. Colors and brightnes are perfect. Curve maybe took a day to get used to, but now I don't even notice it. No flickering or motion blurring that people have said is a problem with this monitor with the xbox. 27inch enough for 1440p?

To be quick the curve is really good for gaming and its a unique experience very enjoyable.

    The colors are really good

    Contrast brightness saturation..

The 240hz is amazing can never go back to 60-144hz now.

What I was really unhappy about was the 2650 x 1440p resolution all my games just looked too small didnt matter much on the FOV.. I am not sure if in the 32inch version this might be the same but 27in isnt enough for me..

Im using the 1920 x 1440p resolution as that one feels like it should be its native but isnt..

Returning it for the new 360hz 1080p 24.5 alienware

    Amazing with one big flaw..

It is an amazing monitor when in use, but the reason for my rating is there is a known issue that has no way to resolve it.

Basically if you are using two monitors and turn them both off, the Samsung takes 7-10 seconds to turn on, which causes the secondary display to default to the primary window for a second. After it turns on the primary window changes back to the G7, but all windows on the second display get reset onto the Samsung. A very annoying issue to deal with if you plan on using more than just this monitor.

I have updated the monitor firmware and the issue persists. Online you can find many other users describing this problem.

HDR is broken plus other issues

Screen is bright and vibrant is SDR modes, but HDR support is clearly not working properly. I have an Asus PG27UQ 4K HDR next to it and I can drag HDR content between the two windows and the difference is night and day between this monitor and the one that actually displays HDR properly. The 1006.1 firmware released this week has done nothing to address the issue, and now I get a scrambled image sometimes when switching video modes trying to play SDR content. My $1,500 Asus blows this $2,500 product out of the water. If it's not resolved in the next few weeks this is going back to BestBuy.

    Great SDR, HDR is broken

This would be an amazing monitor if the HDR worked in gaming. SDR content looks great, fast response times in games. I run 144hz mode with a HDMI 2.1 cable then have a display port to HDMI connected the samsung Dolby atmos sound bar, due to this reason I can't run this at 240hz, however 144hz is more then enough for me. Now for the big negative, as mentioned before the HDR in gaming is all washed out, even in windows everything is washed out. Playing HDR video works, but that's it. Now if this monitor was $1000 or $1500 I might say it's worth it, but as of now, it's not. When the big selling point is HDR gaming and it doesn't even work that's a big red flag. I'm hoping this gets fixed in a software update, but not holding my breath. I may take this back and get the Asus PG35VQ, although I do love the 32:9 aspect ratio but the broken HDR is almost a deal breaker. 3 Stars because the SDR performance is excellent, if HDR in gaming worked 5 stars easy. For this reason at this high price point I can not recommend this product.

Cool monitor.. Not Perfect.. But Cool...

Was first in line on July 29th to preorder the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 monitor. It looks great in my office and it's fun to game on.

This monitor is being supported by the following equipment:

    FE GTX 3080Ti (472.12 driver)

    Intel i9-11900K / MSI z590

    64GB Memory

    Windows 11

    I'm also running a LG 39inch Ultrawide and a Samsung 29inch 4K UHD monitor (3 monitors total)

There are some issues that I think will be (hope?) will be resolved with firmware and or driver updates.

    Issues:

    1) Screen frequently goes blank and then back on when adjusting brightness in some games running HDR where Windows HDR is being used. Unsure if this is because of Windows HDR or the monitor itelf. The problem was extreme in firmware 1004 and made slightly better in 1006.

    2) When multiple monitors are attached, the screen does not activate during reboot. It does not matter which display port on the video card the G9 monitor is in. I have to manually unplug the G9 monitor from the video card, let the monitors resize and then plug the G9 monitor back in to get a picture.

    3) The Firmware process is a little cumbersome. If you are using the USB ports and trying to do a Firmware upgrade, the instructions are not clear about the fact that nothing else can be attached to the USB connections.

As for the HDR issues that everyone else is complaining about, it's possible I just don't know what HDR looks like. So I have no reference point. I haven't seen an issue. But I'm not an authority figure onit.

But, this monitor is beautiful in my opinion. The games are bright and crisp, 240Hz no issue. I've gotten to about 230 FPS in Call of Duty (had to do some extreme cooling on the card to get temps down).

I do wish to some extent this was a full 4K resolution, but that hasn't stopped me from enjoying it.

Great monitor, HDR Gaming is lacking

SDR content is magnificent on this monitor, for productivity use and non HDR gaming it's the best I've seen.

HDR Gaming has glaring issues, without heavy modification of the contrast, gamma and brightness values in Nvidia Control panel HDR is very washed out. I was able to get my unit to something somewhat acceptable and comparable to an LG C9. Dark scenes look great too as the Local dimming works great but only in HDR when forced to On.

Since this is advertised as an HDR 2000nit monitor but it's main selling point clearly needs some more quality control I would say hold off on purchasing this until Samsung fixes it.

Best Monitor You Can Buy, But Deeply Flawed

On paper, yes this monitor ticks all the boxes. Big, curved, HDR, and 240hz. But sadly it does not live up to the hype. First you have to hope you don't get any dead pixels on a unit. Secondly, you will get scan lines running it at 240hz. Samsung has not fixed this issue from the last G9 model. And the biggest issue of course is the HDR, which was improved with a recent firmware update. But it still does't look as great as other monitors. When in SDR and in 120hz, this monitor is amazing. But I did not pay $2,499 to not use the features I was promised. I would recommend anyone to just get a normal G9.

Good for SDR but not HDR

Great looking monitor for SDR but HDR is basically completely broken. It is currently unclear whether this is a software or hardware issue but it has been reported by many people.

    Showed up broken

I am not really one to complain, I was very excited to get this monitor. It was thrown in the box with no care. The box was oversized bubble wrap just thrown in and the monitor was not in its safety sleave. It was cracked and the screen inoperable. I will update my review on the monitor itself once I get a replacement or repair.

    Stunning, pricey but worth it.

Display is gorgeous. Love the design, super clean, solid improvement over previous 49 inch models. Cables are routed into the stand, you won't see any cables. LED lighting is present but it is not too much, at night time it adds a subtle glow if near a wall. I ended up mounting this monitor to the wall since my previous desk arm (Ergotron HX) could not hold it properly.

During games I definitely saw a difference between this and my previous CHG90 144hz. HDR looks fantastic, I didn't see any flickering at 240hz but I can't comment too much on games since I use this monitor mostly for productivity. Make sure you have a powerful enough PC to take full advantage of this monitor.

One of my favorite things in life....

I love this monitor. It is worth every single penny, do not even hesitate, just buy it. It should last you until the year 2030, easily. It's a dream come true, it is impressive, it makes me smile. I don't even play games... I just use it to see all of my stocks and trade windows, and just love, love, love it. I'm not even using it at 240hz, I'm using it with an older Geforce 1080ti graphics card on a VR laptop. I have none of the reported issues with the first batch, knock on wood.

    Beautiful display, But!!

It was a beautiful display. But the display I got had a defected seal around the display and there was a 1 inch slit between the display and bezel that had light bleed. I returned the display and now there is no date on it would be resold in best buy. For the price of this display, it should be perfect.

    Screen leaking is TRUE!!

Very disappointed about this product for several reasons:

    * Nvidia G-Sync Compatible with NO drivers available at launch for the product, and still a month into the launch on the Nvidia site still says it’ll be compatible on the “Upcoming Driver”

    * Adaptive Sync Still Causes Several issues with flickering screen

    * Backlight Bleeding is very present leaking out of the edge of the monitor, the monitor is not adhering properly to the frame of the display. Monitor was manufactured in June 2020

Most advanced monitor on the market

Having the most advanced monitor on the market comes with some draw backs. It works great and looks great but I get some bugs, clicking here and there when I have HDR on, and weird flickering at certain refresh rates but only on certain hardware.

Overall it’s good and I would recommend it especially since Best Buy price matched Amazon’s cost but I do spend time waiting for driver updates because it currently cannot achieve 240hz with a 30 series nvidia card. It’s a known bug but that’s on nvidia, or so the release notes say. I also spend time reading on firmware and other user experiences and bugs because I am a little concerned this expensive monitor won’t last me the full 5+ years I’m planning on getting out of it.

Like I said it’s a chance you take when get something bleeding edge sometimes. It shouldn’t be like that but tis the times and Samsung had QC issues that have been supposedly resolved. I did buy in september and still got a may 2020 model. Supposedly the issues are resolved after august 2020 models and the new 7T “business” model that apparently doesn’t have the light in the back that no one will ever use or see.

Get it if you can afford it and hopefully u get a working model like I did on the 1st or 2nd attempt. Don’t get it if you saved for a really long time and need something 100% the first time.

Light bleed from bezel and dead pixels

My unit arrived with light bleed in the upper left, like others reported online. It isn't terrible or distracting since for me. There are a small cluster of dead pixels in the center top, these are not visible unless I have a bright white background, which is not often.

I experienced dizziness and some neck strain when I first started using this, but I think I just needed to adjust my physical habits and distance to the screen. It was fine after a week of only occasional use. Gaming (FPS) is fine, since my focus doesn't change from the center very often. GTA still makes me a bit dizzy when driving.

I bought this to "future proof" myself and to get into sync with upcoming GPU releases. My current 980ti is unable to drive beyond 120Hz.

    Great monitor with minor bugs

I purchased this monitor for work. I am a professional shout caster for a major videogame company and need to see more than just the game while performing. The real estate offered by this monitor is unmatched at a 144hz refresh rate. The colors are crisp it has all the bells and whistles you would expect from a monitor at this price.

My only issues are with the bugs. When the monitor returns from sleep mode the screen is very dark. I have to use CTRL ALT DEL to bring up the task manager in order to return to the proper light levels.

Other than that it's a fantastic monitor.

    Amazing

This monitor is changed my views, I previously had 2 32" curved monitors, and though I downgraded on size, the new aspect ratio gives my gaming view so much more potential. It's definitely game changing. I also love the Crosshair that the monitor can keep on the screen, so even if I'm playing a FPS I don't have to Iron Sight before knowing exactly where my bullets will be going.

All in all it's a fantastic monitor, I would say the only things I don't like is that you need to find a Heavy Duty mount to support the extra weight. Also, the price tag is a little hefty.
