Great Value if OK with Compressed 5.1 Surround

I got this soundbar in order to complete my home theater setup and ditch my TV’s wimpy integrated speakers. Good sound makes a difference to the movie watching experience and I was happy with the performance I got from the Vizio V51-H6.

The soundbar and satellite speakers have a nice industrial design with their U-shaped textured black plastic and cloth cover over the speakers. The cloth does collect dust over time but can be cleaned with a vacuum. The soundbar is not that tall, but it did block the IR receiver of my Samsung TV so make sure to check that your TV stand is tall enough. The soundbar connects to the subwoofer wirelessly which allows an easy installation of the sub and the satellite speakers. The only wires are those connecting the wireless sub to the satellite speakers. The remote is intuitive and has a little screen that helps to navigate the setting menu. The only indicator on the soundbar is an array of vertical LEDs which help show the volume level as well as the type of audio connection.

The soundbar has an HDMI ARC port, headphone jack, and optical TOSLINK connector on top of the ability to connect via bluetooth. HDMI ARC and TOSLINK support only Dolby Digital 5.1 (compressed surround sound) or 2.1 PCM (uncompressed stereo). This means that the best sound that you can get from the Vizio V51-H is compressed 5.1 surround sound (Dolby Digital). In order to get uncompressed surround, you need a soundbar with an eARC connection or an HDMI-in port. You can only send a stereo audio signal using the headphone jack and bluetooth. When sending a stereo signal to the soundbar, you have the option to turn on a virtualized surround sound mode which will utilize the satellite speakers, the subwoofer, and the center channel of the soundbar. In my experience, the virtualized surround is actually pretty good. I conducted a couple of tests playing Dolby Digital 5.1 and then playing 2.1 PCM virtualized surround sound, and there wasn’t a perceptible difference.

I had no trouble getting Dolby Digital 5.1 from my TV using ARC when streaming from HBO Max or Netflix, but I did have trouble getting it from my 4k blu-ray drive. I couldn’t force my blu-ray drive to convert DTS-HD MA to Dolby Digital on the fly using HDMI ARC. I would recommend using the optical TOSLINK connector directly from the blu-ray drive to the soundbar if you want DD 5.1.

This soundbar is a definite improvement over any integrated TV speakers since it gets very loud without distortion and can fill a large room. Each channel can be separately adjusted to your liking. I personally boosted the center channel for clearer dialogue in movies. The sub is fairly small, but it’s adequate for my medium sized living room. This soundbar is not without its quirks. When watching a movie for example, the audio from the soundbar occasionally lags because it is resyncing with the wireless sub. It might happen once or twice in every movie, but this is to be expected from any wireless sound system. Overall, the sound quality is great even with its quirks.

TLDR: This soundbar is a great budget 5.1 surround sound system if you are ok with listening to compressed 5.1 surround sound (Dolby Digital). If you want uncompressed 5.1 PCM, then I would suggest looking into the Vizio M51a-H6.

    Amazing sound!!

I had my doubts coming from Bose but this has superb sound quality for the price. I tested it with variety of music, DTS-X, Dolby Atmos and HDR 4k content and I was astounded how well this thing did. I’m a bit of an audiophile and can confirm this soundbar system will not disappoint. Great all rounder. It’s not the most amazing sound I’ve heard but for the price, you’ll really be impressed and happy you were able to achieve a thousand dollar sound with a couple hundred bucks.

I really like how seamless the installation was and how easy it was to sync it with my 4K tv. Extremely happy the mounts for the surround sound units were included. That’s a huge plus.

    Pack a punch

Worth every penny. You won’t regret it for a small to medium room. You have the option of using the small rear speakers as an adjunct to the main bar in the front, like shown, and programmed accordingly.

    In love with A650 Soundbar

We are so lucky with my husband that we bought that new Samsung Soundbar. It is amazing to watch sports and movies, we feel like we are in the theater. Very easy to set up. Sound is amazing, very sharp, clear and realistic. We also love wireless subwoofer for rich bass - there's many options to control the sound of bass by remote control. Soundbar has many built in sound options, like game, surround, deep bass, etc. Built-in center speakers work awesome, especially during the movies or games. We experience every day a new quality of watching tv. Unfortunately our TV is not so new so we needed to use HDMI to connect Soundbar but I love that is Bluetooth connection so we can control the Soundbar from the phone too, play music and what I love the most working with our Smart Home. I love Soundbar modern design. It looks very beautiful. It's thin and looks great in every living room style. I like that we are able to easily install it on the wall but it also looks great on our white TV stand too. Soundbar build quality is excellent. I am very happy I decided to purchase that item, especially for my husband who is in love with that Soundbar. We now have movie nights and this is why I am using the Soundbar the most. My husband of course uses that for watching sports. We already have Samsung gas range that we love and another Samsung item in our new home also works great.I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest opinion

    Amazed by the sound!

I was blown away when I turned on this soundbar. I was not expecting such a power from this unit. Deep bass, clear highs and very loud! Perfect for music. The sounds are so clear that is also great for movies and gaming. Love the led display - you can clearly see the source, sound mode, volume and woofer level. Yes it has separate controls for the volume and the subwoofer - very nice feature if you want to put turn down the bass a little bit so that your house/walls don't rumble. The subwoofer is really powerful so you will need that option. Easy to connect with my samsung tv - using hdmi arc you can control the soundbar with your tv remote, but will miss some controls that come with the soundbar remote. Really easy to set up - I just put it to power and it automatically connected with the subwoofer and worked right away! Pairs with your phone right away using bluetooth. The brackets for wall mounting came in handy - I was able to DIY them to old soundbar mount (see pics). Overall very satsfied and definitely would recommend! I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest opinion

A BIG bang for your buck

My family has always leaned towards Samsung for our TV needs but our house being a big gaming house needed some louder more surreal sound quality so we gave this soundbar a try! It has been a total game changer it feels like we are in the game and movies when we have it on. I love that it doesnt take up too much space but gives you that extra ump you are craving! And it only took a few minutes to setup!

    Defective product

I bought this sound bar/subwoofer today and it worked for about 5 minutes. Now it won’t turn on or respond in any way. After spending some time troubleshooting over the phone with Samsung they determined the system is defective. This is the 4th defective item I have purchased from Best Buy within the past 2 years and am beginning to think it’s not just bad luck at this point. Very frustrating

    Good Sound Simple Setup

I chose this after much research for my bedroom TV. I wasn’t looking for home theater quality. I was looking for improved sound over my TV speakers. What I got was exactly that. Much improved sound over what was produced from the TV. The setup couldn’t have been easier. I used the HDMI Arc connection from the TV to the HDMI Arc connection on the soundbar and connected my Apple TV to the HDMI in port on the soundbar. Turned on the TV and it worked flawlessly. The subwoofer was just as easy. Placed it in a back corner of the bedroom, plugged it in and it worked with no fiddling around with configuration. I won’t say that the sound rivals or is even close to my 7.2 dedicated home theater system in my living room but it wasn’t intended to. For my needs it exceeded my expectations. The only con is the mounting system to the wall. It’s very simple and a template was provided that made it easy to drill the required two holes perfectly. The issue is that it appears to sag just a little. I fixed that by putting two very small rubber wedges between the bracket and the wall at the bottom. It lifted the soundbar just enough to make it level. Overall, this was a good buy for what I needed and would recommend.

    Affordable and packs a punch

Fantastic. Sounds incredible, daily driver with my 2 monitor PC set up, ps5, switch and a media server. The options and settings are quite robust, with a nice on screen interface. The bass box will quite literally rattle the windows and the room, and the sounds from the speakers in a 5.1 set up sound amazing, crisp, and the flow of the audio is simply on point. I purchased this one as a "settle for what they have" kind of situation and am by NO means disappointed it went down that way. Happy with the purchase, will buy one for my living room too.

Oh, also, you can rename any of the inputs so you can sort by device when rolling through the menu. Bluetooth to my phone for Spotify is a god send too.

So I have had this surround sound for a couple days & I will say it sounds amazing for anything at this price point of $500 or below. The subwoofer sounds amazing puts out great bass for movies, music. The speakers sound very clear. The receiver has lots of options & is a good size & works great so far. I would highly recommend this if you want a very good surround sound experience without breaking the bank. I have this paired with my Sony Bravia 65Inch X900H TV

Very good if you know what you want!

Is this product top of the line home stereo? No. Is this better than 90% of the sound bars that are out there? Yes! Could you buy a Bose surround sound thats probably better? Yes. So, if you know what you want, this is a very good surround sound system that is good value. Yamaha puts out a very good product. This receiver decodes most if not all of the Dolby codes for movies, has a subwoofer that definitely puts out the base(!), and has lots of input options for HDMI, component, bluetooth, etc. I recommend it for the price point. You can listen to to FM radio, tv, blu-ray, or game systems and the receiver has options to tailor the output of the sound.

Cons: more difficult to hook up than a sound bar but really its not bad. The rear speakers are wired so you will have to determine if that works for you. The speakers are smallish and lightweight - thats ok for most applications but it means that the system relies on the subwoofer for most of the base. I recommend getting better speaker wire as the supplied speaker wire will work but seems very lightweight.

I use this system for all the applications mentioned above. It sounds great and is good value in my opinion. To noticeably upgrade beyond this system you would need to spend double the amount or more!

If you are not able to see this in the store then know that the 4 satellite speakers are only 6.5 inches tall. See picture.

Solid Dolby Atmos Sound Bar that is Simple To Use

The SN8YG is a 3.1.2 sound bar that supports both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, and also uses Meridian Audio to help fine-tune LG’s sound bars with advanced signal processing. The SPK8-S speaker kit expands the SN8YG to a true 5.1.2 system. Setting up the additional speakers was seamless and instant. No issues here.

It sports the same exact design and dimensions from last year, which is a sleek, brushed dark gray metal aluminum finish that perfectly matches LG's 2019-2020 OLED TVs. The SN8YG measures 41.7” long, 2.2” tall and 4.7” deep. The metal grill finely wraps around the sides in smoothly rounded edges, while discreet, touch buttons line horizontally on the top. The remote is also quite simple to use with large buttons.

eARC support is new for the SN8YG, and allows it to receive lossless content straight from a Dolby Atmos supported TV, as well as any other connected devices to that TV. I’m happy to say it works perfectly.

The SN8YG is also Google Voice and Chromecast compatible. I'm not a Google user myself but the 'LG Wi-Fi Speaker' app for iOS or Android is where the SN8YG can be remotely controlled and where firmware updates are downloaded. This requires a Wi-Fi connection, although the app seems quite lackluster and poor in quality, considering it's 1.5 star review for iOS.

Sound quality is amazing and detailed with a very convincing sound field. In Blade Runner 2049, the rooftop rain scene where K and Joi are having a moment, occasional drops of water falling on metal from above the frame are produced only in the up firing drivers and gives a sense of added height into the scene. As for the low end, the subwoofer is impressive and punchy. ‘The Outpost’ precisely jolts you with every single round being fired from atop the Hum-Vee mounted machine guns. Mortor rounds and RPG explosions sound rich and powerful yet the low end doesn’t mask or muddy the mix.

I’ve always had problems with the center channel in past LG sound bars, but it's definitely much improved here, although the problem is still slightly apparent in older content, while newer movies and TV shows are very clear. The most balanced sound field comes from Dolby Atmos content. Castlevania on Netflix is audio nirvana. The dialogue is crisp and untampered with, while bone crunches, whip snaps, magic summons, and crumbling rock are discreetly sent to the proper channels.

The SN8YG is a solid Dolby Atmos sound bar that is very simple to use. I highly recommend it for home theater sound. I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review.

    Great Sound, small package.

I purchased this unit because of space restrictions. I spent months researching which brand and model was best, as I'm quite an audiophile coming from a 9.1.2 THX Onkyo home theater.

I wanted a top tier model but could not fit it in my new apartment. I decided to give this a try since it had respectable reviews and fit within my size restrictions. When I first turned it on and tested with Dolby Atmos content I was blown away that this sound could come from such a small sound bar. Atmos works excellently and it's very hard to pinpoint where the sound is coming from. Fills the room no problem and has deep, rumbling bass. I paired this with the rear surround speakers and while it's no THX system, it's more than satisfying for the price and size. I had no issues with setup, and it works flawlessly with my LG TV.

    Nice general purpose sound bar

The sound is good. Crisp, nice bass, does not distort at high volumes. There isn't much in the area of surround sound, so if you're a gamer, looking for Atmos effects, forget it. For normal people however, this is a very nice overall unit, for both movies and music. Price is high, so get it if it's on sale.

I received my LG GX 3.1 ch soundbar and it arrived and in a big and flawless packaging. The box itself shows that it is a top notch product. The soundbar and subwoofer came nicely packaged and protected. As I opened it up I got to see how sleek the design is. The pictures do not do it justice. This is a one of kind product. Mounting was one of the easiest setups with very easy to follow instructions. It fits flush against the wall like a picture frame. It really is a thing of beauty. LG really hit tit out the park with this one. Connecting the soundbar was as easy as 1,2,3. I used the hdmi arc port and the soundbar just automatically connected. After that I plugged the subwoofer in and in a matter of seconds it connected wirelessly to the soundbar. No need to press any buttons. Its literally plug and play. Ready to go in seconds. I switched to bluetooth connectivity and It was also up and running without any issues. I decided to play a movie with great sound effects to test the limits of the GX soundbar. I chose Transformers. The sound was so immersive it felt like I was in the movie. You are able to hear every distinct sound coming from the movie. The subwoofer really puts this soundbar over the top. It sounds so clear with great bass. The combination of this soundbar and subwoofer really fills the room like a movie theater. Next I tested the soundbar by playing the new avengers video game on ps4. You literally feel every move the character is doing on screen coming from the soundbar and subwoofer. From a wall breaking or hulk doing his signature smash. You can hear every distinct sound on anything you play. While playing Spotify it literally sounds like you are having a concert in your house. In conclusion this is by far the best soundbar on the market. From a flawless sleek design to crisp and clear sound. I was blown away by the sound the GX can push from such a minimalistic design. I would highly recommend this product to anyone. Pair this up with the GX oled tv and you will have the best dynamic duo on the market. If you want the best sound and picture quality on the market this is the way go. I Really do not have any complaints, I am beyond happy with this product.

I received this product at a discounted price in exchan

    Lg Oleg sound bar

I have read the reviews good and bad , my experience with this sound have been nothing but good from playing movies or listening to music I have no complaints.I think that it is very important to move the subwoofer away from sound bar I have mines behind the couch.

Looks very nice, but average sound quality

First things first since this is not well-documented anywhere: this GX OLED model-matching soundbar matches the width dimension of the 65 inch GX OLED only. This was perfect for me since I have that TV on the wall as well, and aestehtically it does match the GX beautifully on the wall (see pictures). That is the main selling point of this soundbar, and should be the only reason you're considering purchasing it. If you don't have a LG GX OLED, don't purchase this, there's better soundbars out there! As for the negatives, the sound quality is not the greatest in the world. Specifically, ALL low frequency sounds are offloaded to the subwoofer, which means no natural bass or low frequency sound comes directly from the soundbar speakers. Part of this is just raw physics given how slim the soundbar is in order to sit flush against the wall, which makes it impossible to engineer speakers that produce satisfactory low frequencies. The downside of this, is that if you turn the volume of the subwoofer down to avoid disrupting rumble, you're also turning down low frequency in things like speech/voice as well, since the sound output is so intrinsically linked as a single engineered system. Another negative is how difficult LG makes it to find the correct smartphone app to control this unit (the one you want is LG Music Flow Bluetooth); however, once you do, the app has all the settings you'd need, including independent volume controll of the subwoofer and optional rear LG speakers (which I purchased and paired with these, and they work great). Finally, LG does not do a great job documenting which of the Sound Effects work best for certain situations. Through trial and error, I've found the "Movie" setting provides the most consistent sound quality for my 5.1 setup with the optional rear speakers (I don't particularly like how the AI effect consistently makes the rear channel quieter than it should be with non-Atmos content). Overall, these speakers look fantastic when paired with a GX OLED, but are very mediocre in every other way, which makes it hard to justify the very high price tag for average consumers.

    Good sound but not Great

This sound Bar is good and it serves the purpose for me. I use it in my Bedroom to watch movies and Dolby Atmos and music, however it is not like my full 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos that I have in my home. But I would recommend to anyone

Good looks, OK sound, Expensive price tag

I bought the LG G1 OLED TV so I purchased this soundbar to pair with it. It matches the look perfectly as it is much flatter than other sound bars. The power cord has a big brick that make it hard to mount and hide the cords (I just had to stick mine behind the drywall. Sound is just OK. On many of the presets, deep and/or loud voices start to vibrate or muffle when the volume is up around 20 or so. Very expensive for the sound quality if you can't get it on sale. Easy to use though, and it really does look great with the G1 wall-mounted above it. Recommendation is for looks, not for sound quality.

    Perfect match but poor sound

It's okay and works fine and complements a 65in LG TV perfectly. However it's just not that powerful and the subwoofer is almost useless. Definitely not worth the expensive price. My cheaper Soundbar sounds better on my other TV. I even purchased the surround speakers extra which makes the system passable. Matching Aesthetics is the only reason to buy this soundbar.

    You won't believe the sound

Love this sound bar. It is exactly the length of a 65 inch TV. It almost looks like one unit with a tv. When I played a acapella CD of Christmas songs, it blew me away. So glad we bought this.

    Ghost surround sound

Connected this system today. Soundbar is decent, and I had no trouble establishing the rear speaker connection. However, the rear speakers have little volume. I literally have to put them to my ear to hear them. There is no adjustment for them, hence, what is the point? Most likely going to return the system as I seem to have paid for extra items that are basically non functional.

    Not so good Samsung

The small speakers had a lot of static.I figured out how to fix it though by adding aluminum foil to the ends of the wiring and took a little tweaking. For the price though I could of got a cheap set up that would of sound better.

Lots of promises but needs more work

Sorry, samsung. I tried all the tricks and tips to try to get my rear speakers working properly, and yet I have to reset it each time I turn my tv on. I think if the soundbar had better, crisper, bassier sound, I would consider keeping it, but not being able to use or hear the rear speakers really bothers me. Skip these, get the vizios.

    Great system!

Great system. The only drawback is you have to connect (through the TV settings) it every single day. This could be a TV issue, so not 100% sure it has to do with the sound bar. But these were super easy to install and set up -- unlike the Vizzio. OMG, those were a complete and total pain in the booty.

So yeah, this system is fantastic. Go for it!

I failed to read the reviews. The sould bar is decent but small. Not at all what the picure looks like. The two speakers are a joke. You cant hear them at all. Im frustrated because i had it installed by the geek squad and do not have the box to return it. I am calling on Monday to see if i can get something else. I cant believe samsung makes these cheap speakers. Do not but these speakers for your daughters Barbie’s playhouse.

    Skip this surround sound system

I didn’t even have these for a whole movie. The sound bar was decent but the little speakers were so awful. I tried to re-set them up several times trying to figure out the issues. I’ll probably repurchase just the sound bar but this isn’t worth it.

It is a good product just that I haven't been able to figure it our completely. I haven't been able to connect the speakers to have a better sound.
