Great 50 inch 4K NanoCell LED Smart webOS TV

I bought this 50-inch nanoCell LED tv to replace an 11-year old 47" LED tv for the bedroom. The improvements in resolution (4K), color, contrast and Smart webOS are significant, and this new tv used the same wall mount as the old tv. I also recycled the old tv at Best Buy as it still works fine. This 50 inch LG nanoCell tv is highly recommended.

    Pleased with TV

Great reception and color. Only comment is that instructions for the remote needs to be sent with the set. The online information is given too rapidly and is not complete.

So far, not bad, Great picture quality. The sound is okay but could use some improvement. I purchased the Polk soundbar for $179, which enhanced the sound to my specs. Setup was rather easy, almost self once the power was connected. The screen seems a little smaller than a 50 inch but still satisfied so far. Plenty of preloaded apps, as most TV's come with. The picture is very clear while looking at it from an angle so, I'm happy. I'm 48 hours in ownership; I'll update later.

State of Art 2021 Class NanoCell, LED 4-K Smart TV

After my old 32" LG television that I purchased from Best Buy in 2012 started to have power "on" issues that required playing with the power-plug for 15-20 minutes before I could get it to "come on" I began the search for a new television from "Best Buy" which has always been my neighborhood "go to" electronics store.

I wanted a larger TV but one that would fit my counter in my "home office" and because my last LG worked flawlessly for 9-years, buying another LG was a no brainer. I wanted a HD television that had at least 3-HDMI ports to accommodate my computers and cable TV box (the one that turned out to be a great choice and has 4-HDMI ports) is my NEW "LG-50 Class NanoCell 80 LED4K. A fantastic choice that exceeds my needs.

I bought this television on June 29th but because of my extensive work and business travel schedule, I did not take it out of the box and begin to enjoy all of the outstanding options of this television until August 19, 2021.

If you want a 50' UHD "Smart TV" that has all of the "bells & whistles" in my opinion this is the one. It has performed flawlessly to date as it said it will. The remote is awesome including the ability to switch from one HDMI port to another.

I encourage you to read to the specs as I did on this model versus other brands and LG models before I purchased. I am very happy with this 2021 model. I am sure that you will be too!!

I am very picky and I am 100% satisfied

Review of the 50 inch Sony Bravia XR-50X90J

    Background Info:

In 2004 I purchased a Sony - KV-32FV310 32-Inch FD Trinitron WEGA Television from The GoodGuys. It was one of those huge square heavy televisions. It had a great picture being a Trinitron.

In 2009 I purchased a Sony KDL-46XBR9 from Best Buy. It was a 46 inch LCD "XBR" model which signifies top of the line. It was a close-out so I was able to afford it ... about $1,200 which was almost half off the normal price. It was a great TV with excellent color. It finally died this spring in April 2021.

I hate shopping for TV's because I am extremely picky about the picture and color quality and features. And now that there are several companies that make excellent TV's, it is very hard to choose. Also I figure I will have the TV for many years so I want to make sure I will be happy with it. After spending several days at BestBuy and many hours on Youtube I realized that Sony was not the dominant manufacturer anymore. However it did seem that Sony had maintained it's reputation for excellent true color. But it also had gained a reputation for being a bit more expensive than the competitors.

My first decision was between OLED and 4K LED. After watching hours of YouTube reviews I decided there was not a enough picture quality difference to justify the extra money and having to worry about the screen "burning in" on the OLED after a few years.

Next I had to pick the size. My last TV was a 46 inch. A 50 inch was a nice upgrade and still fit perfectly with my existing setup. Several people said "no, go bigger", but I am totally happy with this size. I sit about six feet away from it. Also the feet on the Sony 50 inch are closer together and not spread way out near the edges of the TV, so that fit on my existing TV stand very well.

And there is a Composite video input which allows for older equipment to connect to the TV via the Red/White/Yellow cable.

The operating system of this TV is very good and the remote is very good. It has a powerful CPU processor.

The thing I like the most about this TV is the absolutely gorgeous picture. I have always had a good picture with my older Sony's but this truly is incredible. I waited two months before writing this review to really see what I thought about it. And I have on quite a few occasions literally said out-loud ... "Wow, that is a beautiful picture" ... the color is perfect and strong while looking extremely natural and realistic. And blacks are black.

I also like the price. Sony had just dropped the price from $1,299 to $1,099 when I was shopping which made it competitive and removed the "Sony is more expensive concern".

If you are like me and stress out about which TV to buy let me tell you what worked for me. Take your time. I started by spending a few nights online browsing what was available. There are three main companies that seem to make the best TV's. Samsung, Sony, and LG. The feet on the LG 4K LCD's were too wide apart for my furniture. The Samsung 4K LCD's looked good but did not have the composite video input and also had some complaints about glare. Next I picked a weekday afternoon to spend in the store. The store was not crowded and I took my time looking at the TV's and occasionally chatting with a couple sales guys. I had told myself I was not going to make a decision on that first visit which allowed me to relax. I brought a notepad so I could take notes. When I finally got maxed out looking at so many TV's I left the store and took a break for a couple days from thinking about it. Finally after some more online researching and another store visit I decided on the size and then on the Sony. I ordered it online and picked it up at the store. The 50 inch TV box actually fit in my car which was great, although the salesmen at the store had said he could give me free delivery.

All that time and effort was worth it. The color and picture are truly stunning, and the operation of the TV is very good. I went with an extended warranty for five years. I do that with TV's and Dell computers.

Over the two months there have been two firmware updates which are easy to do and I think one of them actually improved the picture quality.

Two settings were important to get the picture just right:

CineMotion - set this to high to remove any "judder"

Brightness - I dropped this down to 15

I hope this review will help others. Many folks can make a quick decision and get on with it. Not me. If you are considering the X90J series I can tell you it is an outstanding television, especially the picture quality and the color realism.

    Good Luck,

    Richard B

    Very Good Gaming TV

I got the 50inch X90J mainly for my PS5 & XBOX Series X. Works well with both. I did start having the issue with the tv restarting every time I would turn it on. If you get this just go to network and internet than home network and enable ipcontrol in the settings menu. Still waiting for the VRR update.

    Fancy TV

Very happy with it. Picture looks great. Screen looks very black (in black scenes) even in the dark. Get very bright when needed too. Legs are very wide on the TV, but i knew that going in and bought a VESA stand. The OS is very fluid and is good at surfacing things I want to watch. The voice remote is very handy.

The audio was good for a TV, but I didn't listen to it much. Only during setup before I plugged in my existing soundbar. I do wish the ARC/eARC port was not the second HDMI 2.1 port, but I suppose the only thing that really will need it is a game console, and I am unlikely to ever have more than one.

Only real downside I have found is the ethernet port is limited to 100mbit. I didn't know you could still buy chips that weren't gigabit! The Bravia Core service even mentions (deep in the fine print) that to get the full bandwidth the service can deliver you have to use Wi-Fi ac. Oh well.

Very happy with the $200 price drop. That sealed the deal for me.

Tried to take pics of TV, but on camera they all looked bad, so you'll just have to trust me it looks very good in person.

good overall TV with some downgrades

A good TV overall, but a little too pricey. The google TV UI is clean and snappy, good black levels with minor haloing, TV channel setup is amazing and great picture out of the box. The NOT so good is the horrible panel uniformity "DSE" and screen compared to my x900e. There's also an glitch in the "for you" section that spams recommendations so fast you can move to see the options.

*below is a close up comparison of the x90j and x900e screens, you will definitely notice a difference in quality if you use as a monitor.

**input lag and screen jitter were fixed via patch

Too good to be true…but true.

Amazing!!!! I bought this tv after I retuned the Samsung qn90a. Although, the Samsung neo word was excellent, I felt it was overpriced for its performance. I wanted to get a tv primarily for gaming with my ps5, Xbox series x and watching football in my backyard. This tv gets very, very bright. Easily overcoming the brightness of the sun and the adjustment options are fantastic. At first, I was hesitant to buy the x90j, simply because of the side by side comparison in rtings but I honestly have to say the Sony comes much closer to my lg oled cx in terms of contrast, color accuracy, and HDR. Btw, I believe the CX is still the gold standard for gamers, however it does not get bright enough to overcome the glare of the sun when I watch outside. If you are a gamer and a football lover, do yourself a favor and get this TV NOW. It is on sale and it ultimately saved me $671 dollars with the 5 year warranty compared to the Qn90a. Great value. I hope this helps.

    Price is worth it

Wow, wow, wow. Bought this TV to replace an LG 47LS4500-UD that was only 1080p and HDMI-CEC didn't work on the LG TV. This isn't my first 4K TV as I have a Vizio V435-H11 so I'm aware of the image improvements of 4K HDR/Dolby Vision, but this Sony TV is crazy good. It does take a few minutes to make some adjustments to ensure you get Dolby Vision on external devices, but the color accuracy is phenomenal even though the TV isn't a true wide gamut for HDR10. If you wonder if the price for this TV is worth it or not, it definitely is. Make sure when you get this TV to change the picture setting to custom as that is the most accurate and turn off some of the auto sensing features to keep the picture from being ruined. I'm thinking I should throw out my 2020 Vizio TV and buy another one of these Sony TVs because of how amazing the picture is when watching literally anything. This TV is only beaten by OLED TVs which means if you're worried about burn-in from an OLED you should get this Sony X90J TV.

    Defective, cheap design, terrible sound

I do not recommend anyone buying this TV. We've had ours for about three months and it completely failed. There are colored lines horizontally and vertically throughout. Samsung would not honor a warranty, as they claimed it was physical damage after viewing a photo I sent to them. There is zero physical damage to the surface of the TV, the authorized repair person came out and agreed there was no damage to the surface, but somehow it had cracked below the surface. I asked how could it crack internally but not have any surface damage or indications of surface damage, and he said it happens all the time because the TVs are incredibly fragile. This TV feels like a thick piece of plastic- it flexes at the slightest touch. I would say it's defectively fragile. Apparently a poorly built TV is what you get from Samsung at this price point, I should have followed the neutral online reviews which recommended a "cheaper" TV at half the price. No reason to buy the Samsung name, it doesn't mean a better quality product. The TV is unbelievably flimsy, I noticed that right out of the box, but I didn't think it would crack internally while sitting on our TV stand. I suspect some kind of internal hairline crack when it was purchased that extended over time. But who knows, Samsung makes a determination by viewing a cell phone photo not examining the TV. Customer service is easy to reach, and genuinely apologetic, but don't expect anything from them, they have a script and a technician in their warranty department will make a determination on warranty coverage by viewing the picture you send. That is exactly what the authorized repairman did. For those that still want to purchase this TV I'll offer this, the remote is good and the picture was pretty good when viewed straight on, but from the sides it was terrible, the worst of any TV I've seen. The sound is awful. Much worse than our Panasonic-which was a well built TV and lasted ten years-it still works. I bought a Samsung soundbar and subwoofer, but honestly the sound is still not great from that product either.

Amazing, high resolution picture, with outstanding natural picture color.

Relatively easy to setup, and built in speakers are acceptable.

Planning on adding speakers, will use HDMI arc connection.

This is my 3rd Sony 4K, they have the best picture. I have purchased competitive 4K TV's, to give them try. Returned, and purchased Sony.

    Next-Gen Gaming!

Great picture quality and Next-Gen Gaming specs ready almost HDMI 2.1 - 4K - 120Hz - ALLM - HDR - besides that VRR firmware, Sony announced coming in the near future which I hope is this year - I’m looking forward to the update with this X85J series from Sony - Great colors, contrast and very good with input delay with gaming, also good for movies too!

    hardware crippled by bad software

sony blew it! this tv is the hardest one to setup ever. pictures were choppy on both satellite and ota. my $180 hisense roku tv was far easier to set up and adjust. sony should have used roku instead of google.

i adjusted picture and yet nothing took effect. i shut the so-called

faetures but it made no difference. i also took the advice of apreviuos poster and did not enable any google functions. google wants to sell you personal data to advertiserds, so enable their apps means you will get hit with tons of ads, more so after each " upgrade". i relied on my previous phone and computer experience and did a rest/reboot after shutting off all of the non-essential picture functions that sony added to this set. that helped a great deal. other than atsc 3.0, this tuner is less capable of picking up ota signals than m y $180 hisense tv is.

i owned sony tvs, vcrs, 8mm recorders, and camcorders back in the 80s and 90s, and beginning of this century , so i can say that this tv is a major downgrade from what they used to sell.

going with google instead of roku was ahuge error in judgement and it's too bad this tv is handicapped by the bad decision to use this software.

i can praise best buy as a regular customer of theirs, but if you are not tech oriented, either buy another brand, either fire tv or roku equipped, or ppay extra to get the geek squad to install and set up this tv for you. if you do it yourself, it will drive you crazy. under no circumstances would i encourage you to set up this tv with google instead of just using the basic setup.

there is also some bloatware on it that you can uninstall ( simba tv, annoyimng notices, various gooogle apps) or just disable . that will free up more ram/rom to use on more essential functions.

    So Much Better

I upgraded from a 10-year-old 46" 1080p Sony flat screen. This is so much better. The integrated apps (including AppleTV) work great and reduced my external devices and simplified operation. I am able to use my existing old Sony video receiver (optical connect) quite satisfactorily until I eventually upgrade that as well. My existing BRD player works great, too. Picture and sound quality are excellent. It's easy to use. It also generates almost no heat as compared to the old TV. Very happy.

Best TV for the money... Hands down!

Perfect buy!!! Given Sony's high reputation for top of the line products, I am not disappointed. After thorough researching similar televisions in this price bracket, Sony has delivered. I enjoy the contrast and picture quality better than the x90j and the x80j. This is a solid television. Definitely worth the price. Sound quality is solid for a stereo tv setup. But, I have it installed to a 5.2 Denon home theatre.

Good for playing PC games at 120hz

This TV has some issues with my use. When using my Nintendo Switch the sound of the TV can just randomly stop at any given time, and the sound will not return at all (for any input or even the tv interface) until it is unplugged and plugged into power (I do not use sound from PC to TV, I have external speakers, so I cannot comment on if the sound will break here while in use, but can confirm that when it breaks it also breaks for pc and all noise from TV in general).

I use this TV 99% of the time as a PC monitor, and 1% for Nintendo Switch, (never watching actual TV programming on it), and even here the picture has issues. Some characters on the screen at 4k 120hz HDR have vertical lines on them, chopping the letters and numbers into pieces. When HDR is turned off this effect is greatly reduced to the point if you didn't know it happened on this TV you most likely wouldn't notice. The HDR brightness at full brightness is laughably dim, to the point where it was nearly unusable during the day, however when this is disabled the colors are more vibrant and the screen is very bright even when at 40/50 brightness. This TV really shines when playing video games on PC at 4k 120hz (no HDR), its very smooth (assuming the PC can keep up) and there is no distortion of the image. If the goal is to play video games on it with a PC, don't use HDR and your experience will be quite good.

Overall there is too many 'issues' with this TV to give a higher rating than average. If the HDR/TV didn't chop text into pieces and the sound didn't just stop working at random I would easily give this 4/5 stars. HDR I can do without as apparently I like the picture more without it, and I like reading the text on screen..

At the time of writing this review my PC, TV and Nintendo Switch are fully updated

He knew all about the specs of this TV and why it would be the perfect solution! Please give him a raise and a promotion! AAAA++++!!!!

    What a surprise!

What a surprise! I got this television for a screaming deal during Black Friday and the picture quality easily outshines my previous $1200 LCD. I upgraded my Netflix subscription to take full advantage of the 4K technology, and I couldn't be happier with the results. I was concerned that the 60 Hz refresh rate wouldn't do the 4K justice, but I think it actually helps cut down on that 'soap opera' look... which drives me batty. Since it's a Fire TV, I can even view my Ring cameras placed around my property and monitor deliveries from the basement by using the voice remote and asking Alexa to "show me the front door." Awesome sauce! A quick word of caution, be very careful transporting the television. Touching or squeezing the screen can cause real issues. Otherwise I give this bad boy two thumbs, WAY UP!

It would be perfect if not for the leg stand

I would give this 4.75 stars. Amazing deal, super easy interface to use (I’m more of a Roku fan so I slapped that on there after I finally got the legs on it). Amazing picture quality and sound. The only thing that’s bad are the legs! For my TV the holes on one side don’t match up well with the outer casing. I was able to get the screw on, but it’s not in all the way which is frustrating. So far everything is okay but I feel like I may end up mounting it in the near future because of that. Overall a great deal and buy.

    Great tv.

Great tv. I bought it specifically for my Xbox series X console, and have been very pleased. I purchased this model because I had a previous Insignia HDTV and wanted a 4K set with a similar interface without having to learn the remote and navigation. I also purchased a USB thumb drive to go along with the tv as the internal memory seems a bit on the low side. Add a few apps and whatever and the memory filled up pretty quick.

So many free features! GORGEOUS colors and clarity

This tv was recommended to me by a friend who has the same one. The price is fantastic. I haven’t bought a new tv in years and I didn’t realize it would be this lightweight. I could pretty much carry it and install it by myself with my kid running around at my feet. Plug it in and it’s ready to go.

What surprised me is that the tv comes with a ton of free tv channels (not normal cable channels). It’s called Samsung TV plus and it boasts itself as being completely free, no strings attached. There are movies, tv shows, and a vast vast array of tv channels for every type of person, even niche like Japanese game show, forensic files channel and video game content channels.

Streaming, video, content apps are easy to set up. Samsung has pretty much all of them... You can arrange the order of them.

My only regret is that I didn’t go bigger. The colors are deep and bright, but not overly bright. The sound is surprisingly really good. Average volume stays low at like 12-20 and it goes up to like 80 or 100. Connecting a console like switch via HDMI shows the device’s logo. It makes it a lot easier to switch sources when you’re not rifling through all of them. I often switch my devices around so I hate checking them all.

Personally, I wasn’t stoked about it being a smart tv just because of privacy concerns but when you’re setting the tv up you don’t have to check mark their permission requests when you accept the terms. I really like the ease of access.

My daughter loves the tv because it has like 8 or 9 kids channels, I love that those include a channel of old school 90s Nickelodeon cartoons and tv shows.

    Really happy with my purchase.

    samsung where it's at

This tv has been amazing. I've had it for about a month and love it. Colors are vibrant and punchy. Great for playing games as well. I can't anything about the speakers because I use external speakers. The response time is very good. Lots of port selection. The only thing that bothers me is sometimes the tizen menu can be a little slow, but it doesn't really matter because you're only on there for a few seconds at a time anyways. Bottom line, if your on a budget and want a 4k tv, get this one you won't regret it.

This is a great tv. Your sales associate/manager Chris VanGrinsven suggested it after listening to what I needed and he hit the nail on the head. I was set to buy something different and in talking to Chris and telling him we needed an app compatible with our cable company he made me aware that this is the tv I needed. He was extremely knowledgeable and polite and this tv is working out great. I couldn’t be happier with the tv, and especially the service I received from Chris.

Pros: Good 4k picture for a budget TV, great for gaming with the low latency gaming mode, has HDR and good sound quality. Motionrate 120 is awesome if you’re into it, I personally love it, adds a smoothness and clarity in picture to shows and movies...

Cons: This is a MAJOR setback and a reason i deducted 2 stars from my review... The UI/Smart hub is EXTREMELY laggy. You tap a button to choose an app or type and its seconds later before that button is recognized. Out of the box the television is going to need to be calibrated properly (including deleting bloatware apps you wont need like spotify). You have to update the firmware as soon as you get it set up or you’re going to pull your hair out trying to use it...

Next con is actually a part of the HDR. It doesnt have a very wide range of color for the HDR, but it doesnt look bad either... For the price, you shouldn’t expect OLED or QLED quality...

Once you get past the hair pulling UI and clear system memory a dozen times, it’s a nice TV. It’s a hassle to set up but once you do, it’s a solid choice for the money.

    Great for gaming

It’s only been a month but so far I but I really like this television. Works really well with the Sony PS4 and PS5. Great for gaming in general. The sound is great. Set up was as easy as it gets. It also has a feature that essentially lets you watch certain television channels when connected to WiFi. Best choice I could have made for the money I spent. Only complaint is that the buttons on the remote are a little small and close together but the good news is that you can use a remote from another Samsung if you have one or use a universal remote and problem is solved.

    BOYCOTT LG PRODUCTS-DEFECTIVE

Boycott LG products. They're defective. Purchased 7/11/21. On 9/18, black screen, no picture. So far have spent 3 hours on the phone with LG, scheduled repair tech for 9/23 8-12, no show, no call, no text. I took a 1/2 day off from work. Tech came out at 6 pm, left 2 hours later. Unfixed, laying face down on my coffee table. Still owe $400 on this junk. This after scheduling with Spectrum twice, still wouldn't connect to the internet, paid out of pocket for someone else to connect it, and paid someone else to mount it. That's a lot of time, $, energy to put into a TV that has no picture.

Best Buy knowingly sells junk, no recourse, no refund.

4 years ago bought a 42 inch LG TV; had to manually enter each and every time to connect to the internet. 2 tvs in my house that are useless. So much for coming home from a stressful day at work and unwinding in front of the tv. NOT with LG. Instead, I can watch the wall. I love LG's remote controls, but doesn't do much good when the TV's don't work. I want a refund, which still wouldn't reimburse me for the loss of time from work and the frustration of not being able to watch TV. So glad I can continue to pay Spectrum $175 a month. LV should pay us given all the time, effort, energy, and work we spend trying to get their products to work and then get repaired--still not fixed. If you need a job, LG's repairmen are booked solid. You'll get paid overtime.

    LG Standards Slipping

Disappointed by some details: 1. TV on-air tuner is not as strong as on previous LG47 TV (maybe because this is 4k?) and only gets half the channels as the old one with enough signal to not break up - with exactly the same antenna and location. 2. Smart TV is missing a lot of apps like PBS Passport and Acorn TV and there is no way to add them, no flexibility in the system. 3. The power cord is ridiculously short, shorter than previous TV, and I have to use an extension cord for an on-wall installation. Bought LG out of loyalty and now I am regretting it a bit.

Best TV I have owned yet!

Like the picture and sound way better than Samsung. The magic remote is great and user friendly. I love the Airplay 2 feature. So awesome to be able to display stuff from my phone to the tv with just a tap or two. For example, my workout videos on u tube and apple fitness to turn the living room into a gym whenever you like. I am glad I didn’t buy that Bose speaker, don’t need it.

The only thing I don't like about the TV is you have to be directly in front of it to get the clearest picture. If you are off to the side, the picture is fuzzy. Where I sit to watch TV is off to the side a bit.

The. LG UP8000 tv was delivered, unpacked and setup into its cabinet and receiver home theatre system quickly and efficiently. The Geek Squad team were obviously experienced. The quality of the picture was excellent, the OTA antenna worked well with the UHD circuitry. A fine picture and a tv with many features was at home. Nicely done at an a fine price.

    Cord cutters with antenna

I am coming from a 43-inch 1080p HDTV and a wanted a 4K smart TV to replace it, a 50 inch seems to be a good size for the bedroom. Things that are important to me are a good picture with decent upscaling for 720p and 1080i content, Since I am a cord cutter need a decent Over-The-Air tuner. I watch antenna TV shows mostly (stream like 40% of the time) and want good smart TV options with responsive UI. I had an issue with the first TV received so exchanged it for a replacement that worked fine.

Setup is easy as you connect to your WI-FI network and log in to your Google account. There is a method that allows you to quickly copy network settings from your phone to TV, but certain routers will not allow it (like mines) so had to enter it manually via the remote. I got to a consent screen for Automatic Content Recognition (ACR) this automatically adjusts picture settings to the content you are watching; it also sends data of what you watch for targeted advertisements. Most would not consent to this, but I was curious on how it handled picture settings so tried it out. On most content like over the air news shows, sitcoms were ok but on movies it was too dim (I like everything to be bright) and sometimes it would change picture settings 5 minutes later after watching, so it is not perfect. Ended up disabling ACR and manually adjusted my picture settings for OTA antenna content. (pictured)

Over the air upscaling on 720p and 1080i is good, the picture is very clear and bright with vibrant colors while 480i upscaled content is just ok. The ATSC 2.0 HDTV tuner (note this tuner is not compatible with the future OTA 4K broadcast “ATSC 3.0”) picks up more channels than my old TV with the same antenna, it shows signal level and signal quality percentage meter when you bring up info on the channel by hitting the up arrow, then right arrow on remote. TV shows and movies over the air with a 4:3 aspect ratio (black bars on the left and right of the screen) automatically convert to 16:9 (full wide screen) on channels like Bounce where they broadcast in 4:3, but cannot do it on some other channels, this is nice touch since I hate watching older shows in 4:3.

Picture quality on 4K content is excellent with rich colors, good contrast and deep blacks, picture is just incredible when compared to my older 1080p, TV is compatible with HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ and Dolby Vison that on paper is not fully optimized with 600 nits in brightness (1000 nits is needed for true HDR experience according to YouTuber Stop the Fomo) but watching HDR on this TV looks good enough for my eyes and I am quite satisfied with it. Shows from Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO Max look great in 4K and lower 1080p content from Peacock, Pluto TV is good as well. Overall, this TV excels on image quality. Wi-Fi connection for streaming is rather good and picks up the signal in my bedroom with no issues of dropping.

This LED panel has a slight dirty screen effect that is barely noticeable on most content and minimal blooming on bright objects. There is, however, is no option for Motion Enhancement in picture settings (Motion option to fix blur is not offered on the 50-inch model as it is on bigger sizes) this helps with motion blur on things that have fast motion like sports. Motion handing is ok without any motion options enabled for most content, but you will notice a little blur in some sports without it.

Coming from Roku, this is my first time using an Android TV device and it took some getting used to but once you do it is great. Past reviews of Android TVs reported the OS being slow, but this is not the case for this model since the UI is snappy and responsive. Just as fast as my prior Roku TV and switching between live TV and streaming apps is seamless. Android TV additional features like Google Assistant voice command (colored circles button on remote) that lets you look up shows or movies via your voice is fantastic. The Play Next feature lets you continue watching previous watched episodes from different streaming apps from one spot and it recommends new shows from your viewing history are nice extras. There are thousands of apps to choose from, you can even add a VPN, although some proprietary apps like Apple TV, Xfinity and Spectrum are available in Google store but are not compatible with this TV as of yet. The fast CPU and storage (4.3 gigs total with 2.1 gigs of space left after 8 streaming apps and 1 VPN app installed) helps Android TV shine. Note: You can add a USB drive and format it via settings to be use as additional storage for apps on TV or power users who plan to use more than 20 apps, and want the fastest experience, should consider an external device like the Nvidia Shield Pro it has expandable storage options also.

Build quality and design wise, everything is in hard plastic and basic, but bezels are thin, legs are sturdy. TV does not look cheap at a distance and TV stand width between legs is 31.3×8.9 inches. The power LED lights in the front turns red when TV is off and this can be annoying for some in the bedroom, you can go into Device Preference and switch off Power LED.

On ports you get four HDMI connections, HDMI 1 being ARC, two USB, one Digital Optical Audio, one Composite Video, one Ethernet, one Headphone Jack and one RF Antenna Input. The ports with three HDMI, two USB and one Digital Optical Audio are located on the left side of TV, while one HDMI, Ethernet, Composite and Headphone Jack is on the back far left.

Sound is pretty good as volume is plenty loud at 14 for live TV and find myself lowering the volume to 10 when using certain streaming apps. TV has Dolby Atmos and equalizer settings but unfortunately, does not have eARC support for Dolby Atmos passthrough. You do not really need a soundbar but not getting rich premium sound and bass as you would get from a soundbar. I did notice an issue with sound cutting off after initially setting up some streaming apps with both TV’s. Just turning off and on the power did not bring the sound back but hard resetting (unplugging the power cord) brought it back.

The remote has numbers and the ability to connect via Bluetooth once you pair it by pressing and holding down the menu button on remote, great not having to point directly at TV anymore to change a channel. Controlling your TV via voice commands is cool too. You can also add live TV channels to favorites for quick access.

Overall, I am very pleased with this smart TV that offers good picture quality and features.

    Great quality for the price!

Prior to this, I’ve been using a TV that was purchased easily over eight years ago. It’s so funny to feel the difference in weight and portability for these two televisions. The Hisense TV was so easy to set up and get started with, and it only took a couple minutes to log into the necessary apps and get ready to watch over the air channels using the antenna I have. The picture quality is great for my needs, and I really like not having to have anything else connected to my TV with cords hanging down. Because the apps are built in, the setup is clean and crisp. I think the sound coming out of the TV is appropriate and I really like that it is consistent across the channels and the apps and that there isn’t a lot of range for the volume that keeps me having to turn it up or down. I’m excited to keep testing out new features as I go, but for now, it’s a great new addition my my household. I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest review.

Hisense 50 U6G Crisp Picture Quality

I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest opinion

I bought the U6G Hisense from BestBuy and had it delivered the service was great. They contacted me on the phone when they were near and I went downstairs and picked it up.

The TV has a lot of pros and with only a couple of cons. The TV is android based and it works perfectly with my phone it has all the apps you need and the microchip works extremely fast so there is not that much lag.

The TV gaming experience is fantastic. The colors are vibrant and make everything look 10 times better than my older TV. I would rate the quality of the picture a 9/10. It is almost as good as a TV that cost over 2k. This is definitely the best quality of this TV you are getting a bang for your buck.

The only con I noticed is the Chromecast malfunctions sometimes very rarely but restarting does the trick.

I highly recommend this TV for its quality and the sound and in general accessibility of it. The thing that nobody notices about this TV is the stand it is made of very high-quality material and you can barely notice it but it works perfectly

Not impressed... don’t trust first impressions...

This tv looked incredibly promising when I first looked at it, I got it home unboxed it got it hooked up and immediately hooked my PlayStation 4 pro up to it I loaded it up with my new 4K hdmi cable and it looked absolutely gorgeous... then I went to the built in smart hub and load up Netflix and oh my god is it bad, it’s stuck on Dolby vision at like 720 and can’t be switched (I know I called geek squad who referred me to hisense themselves who told me “oh your PlayStation looks better because it takes over the built in video Quality with its own independent to them” basically saying that their products built in features can’t be fixed and that I just had to deal with the bad quality.... very very unimpressed with Hisense.. will not buy from them again..

    Beautiful colors !

I got this at a discounted price in exchange for my honest feedback. This is a really nice and high quality Hisense TV.... Right up there on the quality of the picture. I love the slim design and almost no bezel. Android TV Menu's are really awesome(Even has Streaming for Netflix and Amazon). This tv was a PERFECT Size for me at 50". The colors are very rich and vibrant... and the 4K.... Stunning. I also love the black levels, and the quantum dot display is all a big bonus along with the Peak brightness and Dolby Atmos to go along with my surround system & The HDR. I totally love the look and feel and operability of the remote. I mounted it on the wall in my bedroom and it was super simple (really anyone can do it)... And even better... the weight of this tv is next to nothing. Lastly the Stand (If you do mount it on the wall) it has a minimal footprint !

    Pretty Good

I got this TV at a discounted price for my honest review. I think this TV is good for the price. The picture quality isn't the clearest I've seen, but it's better quality than my old TV. I like that it's very thin and lightweight. The sound quality is good because I can hear everything clearly. I don't notice any problems with it, but I normally don't turn my TV up too loud. I did not connect this to my cable box since we no longer have cable and I did not need to connect it to a Roku since it already comes with apps set up so I can watch TV easily, but why do they have so many prompts asking me to share my information to help companies? I don't need to give my data to Google so that they can spy on me even more. This is only a problem when setting up the TV for the first time. The voice remote is very convenient because I can say a show I'm looking for and it will tell me if it's available on any of the apps. It's very nice to use this since typing out the show title is a hassle. I don't use the voice remote for adjusting the volume since that is not hard to do just by pressing the button. I primarily use my TV to watch shows on Netflix and occasionally a movie.

    So far it's great

So far so good. I have this tv in my bedroom so when I just want to relax either during the day or at bedtime I can watch something either on netflix, prime video, YouTube since I only have access to those and not interested in paying for the others at this time. The other programs offered to watch on this tv are Disney+, Tubi and peacock. My bf has his playstation connected to the tv so we have watched YouTube on his playstation and normally. The picture quality is ok and not bad enough to complain about. So far it has not frozen on me or glitched but only time will tell how well this tv really is. It was really well packed/protected in its box and with just a little help I was able to get it out. The legs are strong enough to hold it and are also optional. The remote I am not really into the way it feels but as long as it works and lasts a long time then that doesn't matter.

I bought Samsung TV because I was told it’s the best one, but it didn’t work well with my Bolt TiVo. I took it back and bought TCL QLED. It have five inputs and easy to use Smart Hub. It is an amazing and glad I bought that TCL QLED! My two TiVo’s works well with this TCL. I love the Smart TV features, and I don’t need to have Roku and Apple TV devices hook up because TCL QLED have them installed already. See photo attach.

What I have come to expect from TCL

This TV is excellent. First download the IPQ app (check phone requirements) to calibrate colors, it does make a difference and it works for the 2020 5 series, 2018-present 6 series, and the right series tv. It only works with certain phones because the phone camera has to be certified and be good enough to accomplish.

With that said this tv was good out if the box, for the money or regardless. The colors pop and the brightness is impressive. Not as good as the 6 or 8 series of course, but still great. The tv handles motion reasonably well. I have been watching college football, indycar and no problems so far. The tv does have some black crush, which is expected in this price rang. The Roku operating system is awesome, Spectrum app prevents needing a box or cables (tv and power cable only (wireless internet for stream).

As for the concerns with quality, we have purchased 6+ TCLs over the last 5 or 6 years. All still work and have impressive pictures, we have been giving the older ones to family members as we upgrade. The thing I love about this company is the keep coming out with better products and with the new 6 and 8 series mini led are starting to innovate in the industry.

Due to the limit of size the photos dont do the tv justice.

    Super happy with the purchase.

Best Gaming & 4K TV for the $$

Replaced a 40" original tcl the had just 1080p. Predominately used for gaming and netflix. Once I hard-wired ps4 pro and the new 50" tcl to internet, matched all my 4k, dolby audio, ipq calibration (ummm, guys this can only be done on a google pixel phone, it says so, duh), have to say the picture and sound blows me away compared to what i had. No lag noticed anymore when playing, super sharp picture, great contrast. This was recommended by RTINGS.com as one of the better gaming tv's for the price...compared to tv's costing 3-4x as much!!

On top of that, best buy is my go to for major entertainment purchases and they did not let me down. Matched another competitors price and had it here in less than a week. Thanks for making me a happy customer BB and TCL.

Nice TV, but defective out of box.

Great TV for the price, but broken out of the box. I was very excited to get this TV, but as soon as plugged it in and powered it on there were 2 dead pixle lines going across the TV.

Aside from that, the picture is great for the value. I will be taking it back and requesting another Non Defective one.

Best Value you can get for a TV!!

I bought this smart TV for my dad and he loves it. I found it on rtings.com and they do very thorough reviews on there. It was rated among the highest for budget tv's. Very satisfied with this tv's performance and it's unquestionably a great value. Follow my YT channel @ Lil Rice Muncher Gaming

    Love our new TV!

This TV is great! We haven't experienced any issues. My partner and I each had different preferences especially with color tones, brightness, pixelation, and glare. This brought together what we thought was important, and it is a great addition to our living room. I was also skeptical about the smart tv features, but I've been pleasantly surprised.

Nice TV for what you spend, Samsung produces a nic

Great value for the cost. Remote is not the easiest to adjust to, slight learning curve. Picture is crisp, not a ton of shadow images during dark scenes, blacks are decent, HDR Does well even during gaming. Really enjoy the 4k, lag is not noticeable for an actual 60hz refresh rate. Small footprint when not using the stand. Adequate HDMI inputs, and the built-in Bluetooth option is nice for syncing wireless headphones for night watching without disturbing others.

Its a good tv overall nothing wrong with it. But now that i have it for a couple of months i think i should have spent an extra 150 $ and get the q series. The quality is ok but the speed is just average. But if you're in a budget like i was it's worth the money.

    Bigger and better upgrade

Bought this for my stepdads birthday and he loves it! It’s an upgrade from their 43 inch HD tv. They had all sorts of devices hooked up to their old tv just to be able to watch their shows and movies. They don’t need all that anymore! I have several Roku TVs in my house and they are pretty convenient with all the apps you can download. The picture looks a lot better than their old tv. New tv is a lot lighter than the old bulky heavy one too. Can’t beat the price either. Also TCL has really good customer service. Overall very happy with the purchase.

I love my new TV. The salesman (Logan, I think) was very patient with me. I had a lot of questions. Answered them all and even helped me with comparisons of two others. Super guy. Will have no problem with asking for him again.

    A great, perfect size TV!

I am very happy with the purchase of my new Toshiba 50" LED 4K Smart Fire TV. I love having the ability to speak into the remote and and easily get the programming I want right up on the screen. I still need to practice with it a little bit more, but I know I will master it soon. It was very easy to get connected to my new smart DVD player as well. They both were easy to find each other, and now I can use the remote from either one to control the other one. I had an older 65" TV and was glad to upgrade to this newer, smaller one. With my grown up children out of the house now, I just didn't feel the need to have a TV that big anymore, and in fact prefer this smaller size. All in all, I would recommend this TV!

    Toshiba great quality 4K UHD

I decided to purchase my first Toshiba brand of television with the new 50” C350 LED 4K UHD Smart Fire TV. The first unit that I purchased was defective or damaged in shipping to the store because it would not power on. I was able to easily exchange the television for another which worked perfectly. I really liked the beautiful picture that the Toshiba C350 produced with the 4K LCD screen.

The design of the Toshiba is attractive and lighter to pick up than I expected. It has a great connection panel on the backside to use for USB, HDMI, or other ways to stream channels. I liked the fact that the television had many of my favorite apps already loaded on it and I just had to sign into the apps to retrieve my favorite content. I also was happy that the remote control has Prime, Netflix, Disney, and Hulu on it for easy access to those services.

The Toshiba C350 produces wonderful sound effects on its own with settings for different types of media you may be watching and want to experience a certain type of quality. I decided to pair the television to my soundbar so I could make the setup loud like a nice home theater environment.

I have been enjoying several new streaming services on the television and have my favorite shows to binge-watch on Netflix. I would highly recommend the television to my friends, family, and co-workers. I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review.

    Impressive for the price

If you’re looking for a QLED TV that won’t break the bank and delivers a superb picture, this hits the target. Especially if it’s on sale!! But factory picture presets are a bit over the top brightness and color saturation wise. Just tone them down a bit and you’re good to go.

Let’s get to the good stuff right off. Outstanding picture quality for the price. Very bright at the highest backlight setting. Rich vivid colors and excellent color accuracy. Input wise, 4 HDMI, 1 composite video and audio, USB and ethernet. Down firing speakers that sound good with EQ and DTS options and a headphone jack. Also ARC and optical audio out for use with a soundbar. It has a bluetooth remote with Alexa integration that worked perfectly for me. Have security cameras linked to Alexa? This TV will display them! USB in for photos, video and music. The OS is snappy and things load fast. TV has 12GB of RAM for apps, Dolby Vision, DTS, Bluetooth, WiFi. Plenty of settings to adjust to customize picture and sound. See overview and specs listed above for details.

Not only did I compare this TV to my 4K Samsungs which are basic models, I went to Best Buy and some other retailers and looked at what the competition was offering and talked to the sales staff to get their take on brands, features and reliability. From what I found online, supposably Hisense makes TVs for Insignia and Toshiba. That’s not a bad thing. The sales people I talked to spoke favorably of them.

So how does it compare to the TVs costing hundreds to thousands more? Not too bad. Remember, it’s not competing with high end OLED TVs or QLED TVs with backlit screens with a matrix of LED backlights that dim or brighten for a deep HDR picture. But it will get a picture that’s much closer to those than a typical LCD TV.

For those that may not know this, All LCD screens are backlit with LEDs nowadays. Either from the edge or behind. OLED screens are where every pixel is an LED that emits light. LCDs are a light valve that lets the back light shine through.

Unboxing is easy. Do follow the instructions on how to remove the TV from the lower part of the box after you take the top off. It’s in a plastic bag with handles to make it easy. You can mount it on the wall or use the included aluminum feet.

Setup was easy. Once you connect it to the internet it will look for updates and download them and install them before letting you proceed. After that you will need to log into your Amazon account if you have one and set up a profile and log into whatever streaming accounts you have. If you do not have an Amazon account you will need one to use this TV since it is an Amazon Fire TV. Navigating the screen was easy and snappy. Apps loaded fast too. I have 600 mbps fiber internet and an Asus gaming router so that might have something to do with apps loading fast. Your mileage may vary.

First thing you will notice when you get set up and going is this thing is Bright and the Colors are Hot! To the point of being overwhelming. Especially the reds. Like all TVs of late it has several picture presets like Standard, Dynamic, Movie, Game, Natural, PC and Custom. They change picture settings for brightness, contrast, color and other things that would take too long to list here. But I noticed they all were all higher than necessary in the brightness and color saturation department. So I highly recommend you adjust the settings to your liking for brightness, contrast and color. Sharpness will help too. There’s an advanced picture settings menu too. It has settings for things like “debanding”, “Skin Tone” and such. Most seem pretty straight forward to what they do but not all. I searched in vain online for information on what some of these settings do because the manual doesn’t cover them. Maybe they will post it later on.

So yeah, you will need to tweak the picture settings to get the best picture out of this TV. Don’t let that scare you because it’s not that hard to do. Just leave the TInt setting and RGB levels alone. If gray looks purplish or greenish then contact BB as may not be something you can fix yourself by changing settings. My TV is pretty dead on for color balance and yours should be too. Do note that the Color Temperature settings are there to give a warm (think incandescent lighting) or cool (think daylight) look to the picture.

I tested my TV by streaming from Amazon Prime, Hulu, Ruko, Discovery Plus, IMDB and YouTube.

For HDMI input I used Dish Network, Sony UBPX700/M 4K Blu-Ray player I reviewed a while back and an Asus gaming laptop I recently reviewed also.

For the average person it all looks Great! For the more discerning person the Sony Blu-Ray with a 4K disc will provide the absolute best picture quality. Especially if your Blu-Ray player has Dolby Vision.

I literally synced up Alien on Prime in 4K and 4K Blu-Ray I have of the movie. The Blu-Ray won as expected. Better color, lighting and detail. Yes, it was noticeable but not night and day. Next up was the Blu-Ray of The Last Jedi in FHD. Not sure if the player or TV upscaled it but it looked great. Also keep in mind that streaming services do vary in picture quality. I didn’t notice any lag that some other reported. See photos of Blu-Ray Stills.

Lastly I connected my laptop to see how it looked and attempted to use my color spyder to color calibrate the screen. Even after I set the picture settings to comply with the calibration software the TV would switch to the Game preset automatically no matter what I set the picture preset to and I found no way to disable it from doing it. That made it impossible to do a color calibration and check the TV’s color gamut. All TVs have a service or setup mode for techs and I probably could have hunted online how to get into it and to run the calibration but that’s beyond the scope of my review.

I also took a photo of the TV with my thermal camera to show where it’s warmest. The devices below the TV are a Dish Joy and the Sony Blu-ray. As you can see in the photo the TV is lit from the bottom. The specs say back lit too but the thermal camera doesn’t quite confirm that. So draw your own conclusions there.

Note: All photos taken with a Canon EOS R and not a smartphone. Except FLIR.

Conclusion: I highly recommend this TV.

    Bright, bright, bright!

The Insignia 55-inch QLED Smart Fire TV has an excellent picture quality along with some pretty helpful features for a connected smart home. The integration with Alexa and Amazon's many services is outstanding - with very little initial time spent setting that part of the TV up. But, wow - this TV is BRIGHT! Right out of the box, the TV's picture almost seemed distorted because it was nearly blindingly bright - but, that is easily managed through settings. This is my first Fire TV and I seem to learn more each time I use it.

    Pros:

    - Great picture, once adjusted for your viewing preferences; my family likes it in Movie (Dark) mode to counterbalance the very bright initial setting

    - Intuitive and relatively straightforward set up for most apps

    - A whole host of available apps (I believe Android-based)

    - Outstanding remote with Alexa button built in

    - Instantaneous Alexa and Works-with-Alexa functionality for all devices connected to your Amazon/Alexa account

-- Side note: if you use Ring Video Cameras in your smart home --

you will LOVE how easily you can pull up any of the cameras

connected to Alexa. This is perhaps one of my favorite features

    - Rich sound from the built-in speakers, including virtual surround sound and ARC support for a sound bar.

    - 4K QLED (not quite OLED) picture with little - if any - stuttering on the majority of channels (see con below re: older, non-4k video)

    - Nearly frameless bezel; in a darkened room, it almost looks like the picture is floating

    Cons:

    - Packaging: the first TV arrived totally destroyed. I don't fault Insignia or Best Buy for this ... it would appear the delivery company did not handle the box well. When the first TV arrived, there were literally pieces of the box and parts of the TV screen falling out of the mangled box: Recommendation: have Best Buy install it (or deliver it) or pick it up yourself as the packaging seemingly cannot handle the everyday parcel services and the way they toss boxes around like basketballs.

    - There is a bit of lag when starting up and some apps are slow to launch. Be prepared for software updates and a lot of waiting...

    - We've experienced a few lock-ups with the TV which seem to resolve themselves (the TV just reboots itself)

    - On older channels and standard definition DVDs, there is a bit of stuttering with the picture. It's barely noticeable to some, but can be a bit of an annoyance

    - A small, but notable design issue: the power cord plugs in at the bottom left of the back of the TV (when facing the back) and is not only very awkward to get plugged in by pushing it up into the socket, but it's fallen out of the power socket a few times. a better design would be a flattened "L" shaped power cord as found on other brands.

Overall, I give this TV a thumbs up. The screen clarity and ultra-4k clarity are breathtaking once you've set the display to settings you like. Sound is well-above average for a TV at this price point. The Alexa/Amazon integration is absolutely fantastic. I would - and do - recommend this product and am already considering a second for our den.

Disappointing Display Salvaged by Everything Else

The F50 is Insignia’s first time competing in the Quantum Dot/QLED arena. For those unfamiliar with the terminology, QLED is just another way of saying mid-tier 4K TV with increased color depth. On paper, this TV seems like an uncontested winner. Unfortunately, it struggles to produce a satisfying picture consistently. Luckily, the F50 finds redemption in other features and in the execution of those features. As an owner of another Quantum Dot television, I benefitted from having a similar device to compare it against. Below are my findings.

    The Good

    • Intuitive Interface: The F50 gives a quick response to my remote selections and toggles between menus with ease. I’ve had navigational problems where there is severe lag or “freezing”, but so far there have been no issues with accomplishing basic to advanced tasks. Furthermore, I found my experience with the Amazon Alexa app to be useful in giving feedback and presenting information onto my screen.

    • Great Sound: Natively, the television speakers provide great audio through the DTS Virtual-X Sound. No complaints.

    • eArc: This is a major win for Insignia for those who own or wish to invest in a high-quality sound setup. I use this television with a soundbar, subwoofer, and speakers which makes for a pleasurable experience.

    • Screen Mirroring/MiraCast: Most TVs will have some type of casting technology implemented. As a long time user of SmartCast, I very much prefer MiraCast for projecting my device’s screen onto my display whether it’s my phone or computer.

    • Ample Amount of Storage Space: The FireTV Operating System (OS) doesn’t hog many resources on the initial setup or even after updating. After installing apps, I still had 9 GBs of free space available with the option to add additional space via USB.

    • Bluetooth Functionality/Headphone Jack: I’m still surprised by the number of products released annually that lack Bluetooth capabilities. I own several gaming devices which makes it awesome that I can connect wirelessly to stream the audio from the television directly to my headset. What’s even better is that I still have the ability to use a hard-wired connection for listening if I so choose.

Extra HDMI Input: One of the biggest complaints from television consumers is the lack of “extra” HDMI ports. The products I currently own are an example of why three HDMI ports don’t work. I have a soundbar, 4 gaming consoles/devices, cable TV, and a laptop that could benefit from a wired connection depending on the task. It can be a hassle unplugging and re-plugging devices.

    The Bad

    • Colors Can Be Over-Saturated Too Much: To be fair, the product description does highlight that the colors are heavily saturated. Media can sometimes look artificial or as if a paint bucket was accidentally tipped over.

    • Poor preset picture modes: Because certain colors can be overpowering at moments, I had to resort to toggling between different preset modes. Picture modes are designed to compliment the type of content being viewed. I found myself switching modes to fix one issue, but this would inadvertently introduce another problem. The most common problem is when watching video that transitions scenes from day to night. The sunny scenes usually aren’t bright enough and the evening scenes are often too dark to where I can’t make out what’s happening on the screen.

    • Calibration is a must: I wish this TV was more of a plug-n-play device, but it’s not. It takes work to adjust the picture settings which could still lead to disappointing results in the long run.

The Insignia QLED F50 is a good tv, but should never be your main TV. Out of the box, every mode needs to be calibrated. No owner wants to spend time doing tedious work after spending hundreds of dollars on a major purchase. I rated the Insignia F50 3 stars because image presentation is major for any television and this can fall short sometimes. So why would recommend a TV that I myself only gave 3 stars?

    1. The Insignia F50 still produces stunning color. There are times when I witnessed vivid scenes filled with rich colors and thought to myself “this is pretty awesome”. It will still outperform any regular 4K TV by miles. The amount of content available in native 4K with HDR is still growing so much of the media we all view is still not in Ultra High Def (UHD). Also, the Insignia F50 dramatically improves Standard Definition (SD) and regular High Definition (HD) as it should.

    2. The TV has several features that my existing QLED TV doesn’t possess such as Bluetooth functionality, eArc, MiraCast, ability to add apps, and expandable storage space. I am also aware that some of these same features may not all be included in other QLED TVs as well which is an advantage.

    3. It’s versatile. Do you want to listen with wired headphones or wireless earbuds? Would you like to download that same app from your phone/tablet onto the FireTV, stream it directly from your device, or just use MiraCast to show the entire screen? Would you like to just connect with a cable using that 4th HDMI input that you’ll probably have available? Connecting equipment and staying connected shouldn’t be a problem.

Overall, the F50 captures me more with what it can do rather than the things I wished it did better.

    Bright, Great Colors

Right away, you see the brightness and the colors out the box for me were just right, no adjustment needed.

Setup - Easy. Very self explanatory. Any updates are done right away. The remote has the main Apps you watch for movies, finally lol a personal preference of mine.

If you like using Alexa, the TV will be fun. I don’t use Alexa but it’s definitely convenient. I was able to sign in with no problem thru the TV with my Amazon account. If you have a FireStick then of course you use that.

Sound - I have a Yamaha sound bar and I connected it using a HDMI to the 1 ARC and it’s like they belong together, because the connection was flawless. In the past I would have to turn on the sound bar separately. Prior to connecting the sound bar, the TV speakers are decent enough for clarity with some bass but most TVs, it’s good to use a sound bar for that extra thump but if you don’t have one, the sound is loud enough.

Display - Colors are perfect. To me they are not over saturated. They have a nice warm but bright look. Red is Red.

Side viewing - The colors fade just a little, like it’s not as solid BUT the screen is still great for viewing. You don’t have to be in the middle to see solid colors. Mostly when I was on the floor watching looking up, that’s where I noticed the fading but at even levels no fading. Good with distance too.

Bezel - The Black bezel is perfect. It blends right in, like a stealthy look. Can’t believe I never had a TV with the black bezel, well I never paid attention to that. This is a must from now on.

Media - I have Apple TV and I have the latest model and right away, it recognizes the Dolby Vision and yes you can see the difference. It does look 4K still but the Q-LED experience/difference for me is the warmth and colors seem a little more richer. In the past, I did have a (2016 Model) Vizio P55-C1 and that was/is a beautiful TV. I will say the Blacks are a little darker vs the Insignia but this Insignia is a great replacement.

Overall, great TV. Comes on quick, no flickering, easy setup and in the future, I can’t wait to try some gaming! Without overly comparing, this Q-led is great with 4K HUD movies. Netflix, Disney, Apple TV+ movies are advertised as they should be. I also have a LG Ultra HD Blu-ray player.

    Thank you Insignia.

Ok tv but 4K channels and movie appear dark

Out of the box the TV for the price was fine however we have 4K channels and tonight was the first time using one and the color for 4K is dark and looks greyish.

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this but I am def not happy with this being a 4K QLED I was hoping to take full advantage of the 4K feature and I cannot. I will be going to the store tomorrow to see if this is expected or if the tv is messed up.

In the images attached the commercial is a regular commercial and the baseball game is using 4K channel

    Just what we needed

Excellent communication with delayed shipment, very happy with purchase. I love that all the apps we normally use are already loaded on the remote (Amazon, netflix, hulu, pandora) hubby loves the alexa feature for music for pandora and Amazon music. We can use this as a TV and alexa all in one.

Toshiba Fie TV Firmware won't update.

The TV will not update the software and gives me an error. Despite trying all the forum suggestions and trying over a period of 3 days. As a result of the update error, it will not install the ESPN app and other apps that require the latest FIRE TV firmware.

I called BestBuy about his problem and they told me to call the manufacturer. I'll be returning the TV.

Use these TV settings and you will be blown away!

Great 50" TV I have seen for $260

My use - Home Office for TV/Movie/Sports viewing - all streaming, no Cable. Initial Set up is a breeze, audio is good for a small room but Picture quality is lacking with default settings. I was actually getting ready to return the TV and pay 2x to get better picture quality. Then I found these recommended settings on RTINGS.com and it changed everything!!

    Settings for Toshiba 50LF621U1 (50” 4K TV)

    • Choose 'Movie' Picture Mode, it is the most accurate one out of the box, and allows for the most customization.

    • Set: Contrast to '75', Brightness '0', Color '-2', Tint '1', and Sharpness to '0'.

    • Adjust the Backlight to your viewing conditions (default 88 is pretty good). This setting does not affect picture quality.

    • Disable: Dynamic Backlight and Dynamic Contrast.

•Turn OFF: MPEG Noise Reduction and Dynamic Noise Reduction.

    Solid Color Nightmare

At first, things were going well with the TV, but it started to display solid colors or glitched patterns (as shown in the pictures) when displaying HDMI output, with it glitching out and returning to these solid colors often when you switch between inputs. Even after a main board replacement by Geek Squad (this review isn’t about them — Geek Squad was awesome and incredibly courteous), the issue still remained. Even if the issue happens occasionally, it’s still annoying enough for me to not recommend this brand of TV to anyone.

Impressed by Hisense 50” Class A6G Series LED 4K

I have seen Hisense televisions advertised with great prices and good reviews and finally purchased a 50” 4K UHD Android television. The 50” size picture is the largest I have ever had in my home, and I was blown away by the great colorful picture which was produced with the backlight LED screen. I was impressed with the quality of the display when streaming 4K content with no motion issues on the refresh rate. I experimented with the different settings for the type of content you wanted to play and liked the versatility the television provided.

The television was simple to set up with many of the apps that I extensively use preloaded. I was able to find additional apps that I needed via the Google Play store app. I liked the fact that the operating system had the Android configuration which provided easy synching for other devices and even connecting to a soundbar when I wanted a louder output. The sound that is on the television is good but to magnify the surround sound effect a soundbar was able to make the Hisense television a great affordable home theater.

I like the fact that the remote control has several buttons for easy access to some of my regular apps used for content. I seem to watch Netflix, Hulu, HBO Now, and Prime the most for my favorite shows on the Hisense television and thoroughly enjoy the overall picture quality and sound I experience with it. I would highly recommend the television to my friends and family. I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review.

Was nice, then screen began to have issues.

Tv was fine for 2 weeks and then (right after return period ended) the screen started flashing white noise when turned on and had 4 lines of vertical pixels showing incorrect colors constantly. Kind of fixes itself after a while but not acceptable for a new product. Would love to exchange but it’s been 4 weeks now so I’m stuck it seems.

Hisense. A good buy for the price and screen size

Got this for a good price for my dad's apartment. Really easy to set up and link to his Google account. The size is perfect for him and the quality of the picture is nice.

The sound is average and you can tell by the sound the speakers are in the back. If it were me I'd get a sound bar for this TV to have better forward sound projection. He doesn't mind how it sounds however.

It has a Bluetooth to connect your speaker , keyboard and other support devices. I thoroughly enjoyed the google voice assistant remote for quick access to control the TV. The audio is very powerful even with low volume thanks to dts. You can download plenty of apps through google store for streaming and gaming. One TV that has all the feature from HiSense. Enjoy it!

    LG 50" NANOCELL

4K LED UHD WEBOS. I LOVE MY NEW TV!

I Still Have my old 50" Westinghouse TV I bought from Best Buy 2015 and it works great and it's on 24° a day but its not a smart TV or 4K TV. So it was time to upgrade. I studied for about a year what product I wanted to purchase and having 2 - 42" Vizios 1 Smart & 1 Dumb, 1 - 50" 2014 Smart Philips (apps no longer work or supported, 1 - 42" Sony Bravia works fine, 1 - 24" RCA dumb TV = 6 TV'S that are on 24/7 in a home of 2 adults. And I wanted 2-65" to replace my retiring 50" mirrored elderly TV's, but I had a hiccup. And needed a TV (glad I didn't get the 2 65"s yet!) I knew what I want and the price couldn't be beat anywhere! I love the options of the magic remote. And the sound options are fantastic. Im not connected to anything presently except power. Im on You Tube TV and it lets you record and LG TV. Too many channel options. It's also currently my computer. So I have a 50" computer screen as well. Absolutely love this TV. I'm a fan of LG smart phones as well. This is not a good picture and I did not get my stand yet. Yes i would recommend LG Nanocell TV's

    Horrible

The only thing going for it is the picture. You can not add HBOMAX app. and I am not sure which other apps it will not recognize. The controller is NOT user friendly. The apps icons are tiny and hard to see. It is not worth the price. The remote has a ball in the middle of it which makes it hard to use. The remote is like a point and move mouse for a computer. The stand is wobble and does not give good support for the TV.

Great picture.. But with major defects.

This will be my second and last time returning this TV. It has a really good picture and it seems to be a very good deal for the the $.

Unfortunately, I returned my first one the second day after seeing what looks to be some white lighting around the edges when darks are on the screen. Not very noticeable during day time from all the light, but evening time and low light, you can really see it. The second one I picked up from the return was even worse than the first one. Not sure if it's a manufacturer defect or if that's the way it's supposed to be, but it doesn't seem right to me.

I have an LG oled and have been very happy with it. Thought I'd try another LG for the bedroom but was quite disappointed. Will return it and not picking this one again.

Was in the market for a bedroom TV and thought I'd take a chance and try a brand new LG model. Nice smart TV unit. Easy start-up, tv setup was a little challenging as far as how the screen looks. But after peddling around with it, I found the right balance for the room that it is. Remote is easy and is laid out ok. So far so good after a couple of weeks.

Great TV if not for Dead Pixels

It *could* be an absolutely flawless TV, if there weren't dead pixels on each set that I've gotten. First one had a line of dead pixels in the center, replaced it for a second TV that was damaged by UPS during shipping, the current (third) TV I've received has a few dead pixels slightly off center but still very noticeable in bright/flat colored areas. I am using this TV as a PC monitor but having dead pixels is absolutely unacceptable especially considering the price. Once you've noticed a series of dead pixels, you can never un-see it, tarnishing the entire experience.

Really wish Samsung had better quality control. The TV is phenomenal otherwise.

    Qled for my situational win!

This Tv is perfect for our bedroom because it faces direct sunlight during the day. The 4k picture colors are rich, accurate and the blooming isnt that bad but there is some. Blacks are very inky and with some adjustment it can look similar to Oled. Of course I'll be the first to admit Oled has the market on the best picture but they haven't figured out how to make it brighter than 1100 nits consistently. Qled can rock 1800 to 2000 nits brightness no problem thou. I recommend this Tv for bright rooms in general or overall use for sure. (I am a samsung fan for the longest but will admit and concede to certain qualities that make other brands have an edge like Lg, Sony having Dolby vision etcs.. But I will not be a nearsighted fanboy like others....)

On Sale this is a Great Buy

I have been all over the place on TVs, from the LG CX, to Hisense U8G, to the Sony X90J, and currently still own a Sony X900H.

I can’t get over the fear of burn in to hold only an oled. Games like Gran Turismo, Elite Dsngerous will have vibrant pets of the screen that stay relatively still for a long time and this TV will be primarily used for gaming. I just can’t think of spending $1250 knowing for sure the picture will degrade whether over time or a potential accidental of leaving the screen on. I use subtitles often and those were reported to eventually cause an issue. While I don’t know how long that might take I can’t handle that thought lingering every time I use a TV.

Sony on the 900h we have I got stuck with because I was passed the return period after finding out they basically lied about the future implementation of [email protected] and VRR is missing to this day. The x90j has resolved the [email protected] issue but is held to a future promise of VRR. My issue with the Sony TVs while otherwise a great tv is small objects that are in a dark room for instance like a lit face in a dark room, loses the contrast of color on their face and you see a faded almost single skin tone and it’s noticeable especially in dark room viewing if a show or movie has a similar scene. While the X90j is a good improvement over the x900h Sony is asking for more money this year and they still have future promises tagged to the tv.

The Hisense U8G has excellent picture quality at a bargain of a price. I really wanted to stick with the TV because the colors and contrast and brightness were all better than the Sony. It had some brightness in the corners depending on what section of backlight would turn on but it was good enough for $900. It smokes most TVs even more expensive in picture quality…UNTIL you find out audio is broken in apps unless you cast to the TV, ghosting occurs when plugging a 60hz game into a 120hz port, the motion handling is not terrific, and essentially to have a normal working TV like almost other brands you need an Apple TV, Roku, Firestick, or console to handle the Apps and if you use Bluetooth speakers or headphones to connect to those. Almost everything but the picture quality of the TV is terrible and it’s incredibly disappointing because watching 4k content the TV look gorgeous. They are promising to fix the ghosting issue but agin like Sony it’s another risk.

So that brought me back to the QN90 (twice now). It’s not a perfect TV but it does have the latest tech, excellent processing, decent menu navigation and functionality, superb picture quality, and the best gaming motion handling in my opinion as you can turn on motion interpolation for games with next to 0 input lag, making every PS5 game look like it’s at 120hz. It works incredibly well.

The problems with the QN90 are the following.

It’s price is terrible and still not great but better, at $1299 for the 50”. It still should not be more expensive than oled in my opinion and if you’re rotating your games or don’t care about the burn in risk, the Lg CX 48” for $1250 is a no brainer.

The other main issue for me is, the local dimming needs to be on “low” and contrast enhancer needs to be “off” for your most realistic picture. It decreases the contrast ratio of the screen a little bit (I wish review sites would measure the contrast of each dimming setting). This is the difference of the TV leaving the mini leds lit dimly across the screen verses turning them completely off. This allows things like dark color shirt detail or people with dark here to have the strands of their hair or parts of their shirts more visible than just dark to where it’s black and the detail is lost.

It also prevents small lit objects in a dark scene from losing the contrast and detail in skin tones. I also raised the black level detail to 1 to enhance the detail further because in real life, you can still see the strands on a black shirt even in a dim room.

Continued with local dimming, if you set it to Standard you will get more black crush due to the mini leds turning off, the skin tons of a small lit face in a dark room look off just like the Sony, and your games or content will dim the entire screen where you lose a noticeable amount of brightness, for instance if you walk behind a tree in a game into a shadow the entire screen will dim (as others have complained) and it is drastic to where to almost can’t see anymore then when you look around the brightness will jump back up. It’s very annoying and I wish Samsung would turn down this aggressive behavior in the standard mode. The only way to avoid this is to turn on the contrast enhancer which will in some areas crush blacks more however it does a better job keeping the brightness up across the mini leds to keep skin tons in a dark room closer to what you would expect… again at the cost of black detail. You can turn up the black level detail to help compensate however this starts to blow out colors on brighter scenes and make your skin tones shift to a lighter unnatural color.

So with all that said you might wonder what’s the point, especially for $1300 on sale.

The colors are fantastic, the game mode motion enhancement is stellar, I mean stellar. The smoothness with minimal artifacting is unparalleled to anything I’ve ever seen and it really makes your 60hz games feel like 120hz with next time no delay.

The contrast lost in “low” local dimming is not particularly noticeable is real content. It also eliminates all of the issues in the other modes. I’ve seen some critical youtubers say this TV is trash because of how it handles dimming such as quantum. But again “low” local dimming changes the algorithm and keeps the screen dimly lit to keep a good contrast ration and not crush or make things like the start field look terrible. It really resolves a lot of issues. Which is why I wish Samsung would adjust the “standard” setting. Keep in mind TV manufacturers that employ local dimming typically have to choose the balance of lifted blacks (and keeping more of the screen lit) verses black crush caused by turning off more of the led backlights. Oled is the only way to not make this compromise.

That puts this TV in a tough spot for how expensive it is. If you’re ok with not having your local dimming on standard or high to maintain the best detail in scenes and utilize the game features (keep in mind there is only one hdmi 2.1 port which may be a deal breaker if you need more than one 120hz input). This TV is worth it. I need to note I plug my ps5 into a standard port as next to no game can run at 120fps on the ps5. The 2.1 port will go to the series X. The motion enhancement is so good your ps5 will look amazing with it on at 60hz.

This TV is also for you if you are ok with using the local dimming on standard or high, with the contrast enhancer on low at a minimum. This keeps skin tons and objects in dark areas looking decent but you do inevitably get some black crush. It doesn’t look bad at all but with it off you can see the detail you’re losing. Sitting further away makes this matter even less. Standard or High does offer the most dynamic experience and puts it close to “oled levels” of contrast. Gaming this opens the door to aggressive dimming on occasion but again, leaving the contrast enhancer on low helps.

Another great use of this TV is in bright rooms. It offers excellent brightness and color saturation. If you’re not viewing the TV in the dark too often it is going to look even better (even with the dimming set to low).

This TV is not for anyone looking to match oleds dark level detail. There are compromises that need to be made due to the inherent limitations of the technology. While this TV looks great on paper or on review sites, the drastic change in brightness sometimes is very distracting and they don’t seem to mention that. With the dimming on standard the star field test looks terrible and any similar scenes will also look terrible. Keep this in mind if you watch dark shows and expect to leave the brightness on standard or higher. The TV is also too expensive when Samsung seems to act like it’s an equivalent to oled without burn in. It just is not. It’s the closest I’ve seen with compromises but it still is not. It will smoke oled for brighter scenes otherwise and be a good match or possibly better in daytime viewing, but not at night.

I know I wrote a story but chances are if you’re considering this TV and price range, you’ve been researching and researching. The extra details are critical at this point when you’re spending over $1k.

You will find youtubers on both sides of this TV and I still think they sometimes don’t realize they still miss some things whether they admit it or not.

Ultimately I hope this helps with your purchase. I did a stupid arm kind of returns trying to find the right amount of feautures and quality to justify the price and the QN90 on sale is definitely a great choice if Oled doesn’t suite your situation.

My favorite TV I have bought.

Don't be discouraged from purchasing this because of no Dolby Vision, and not an OLED.

I own a Vizio P series from 2020 with Dolby Vision and this TV.

Basic HDR and HDR10+ look amazing on this TV. I don't care about Dolby Vision the TV gets super bright to make the colors pop.

This TV is amazing with 120hz gaming using my Xbox Series X. It just works with no issue because it does not use Dolby Vision. It uses basic HDR so there is less issues.

IMO Dolby Vision 120hz 4K gaming isn't ready yet. If you need a right TV this is one to get.

    What have I been missing!

Wow! The color is fantastic. The pictures are crisp. Easy to set up and install with Samsung guide. Screen size is perfect for a small den. We set tv on a tv cabinet and the stability is incredible. So happy with our purchase. Highly recommend the Samsung tv products. Getting ready to purchase another tv in January to upgrade to new features. It will be a Samsung!

    New TV Purchase

It's got a really sharp picture. I'm having to get used to all of the extra options for viewing streaming services like Hulu and Disney+, along with Samsung TV. Then add in my home theater system, and I've got a lot of things to get used to how to work them all. I do wish it worked easier or synched with various home theater systems, where they worked seamlessly with one remote. I don't like having to use 4 different remotes depending on which pieces of equipment I am using. With such a high price it should synch better with home theater receivers.

    Good not great.

I was on the fence between this TV and there LG C1. I have had this for a few days.

the GOOD: picture is very good with Comcast HD channels.

    the gaming features are great

    no fear of burn in

    decent sound

nice simple stand room for sound bar

the BAD: its bright almost too bright when sitting close {5 feet]

the colors do not seem to be that accurate.

not the sharpest picture I was expecting whilst gaming

I will be returning this for a 48" C1 and risk burn in for a more accurate picture and if not better gaming features. For the price &1400 Samsung should have had better color and gaming features. I can get more for the same price with an OLED as I already have a C9 in my man cave and last years 90T in my bright living room. This is a very good tv but the competitive OLED prices make the C1 a no brainer.

    Amazing product

I don't know where to begin. Its beautiful hanging flush againt the wall, had geek squad install it so theres nothing to complain about the one lil thin wire i keeping hearing people complain about as apposed to all the wires that normally would be hanging down. Have had it close to a month and rewatched the entire marvel movies collection and was blown away with how it looks and with my sonos surround setup it adds a nice compliment to the finish with amazing sound i didnt buy it for the picture display that also has gotten negative reviews but so far i like the feature for what it is. All in all 5 stars

Great TV for this price range

The Google interface is a bit choppy and laggy. I feel the home screen struggles with this responsiveness due to loading up so much "recommended content." To bypass this, I selected the option to just display installed apps (which kind of defeats the purpose of having a Google TV). The remote is a little odd at first if you're used to having number buttons and channel/volume select on the front.

Other than that, picture quality is very good. Obviously you can't compare this to a QN90A or an LG OLED, but the S546 produces crisp images and its local contrast (dimming) feature is solid. It handles reflections pretty well. I mainly use this TV for gaming with my PS5; fast responsiveness little input lag and smooth motion. It isn't "future-proof" since the panel's refresh rate is only 60Hz, but I honestly don't see console games running 4k120 anytime soon. The built-in speakers are ok, so I'd recommend adding a sound bar if that's your thing. I use my Sennheiser GSP 601 headset when I game.

My kids use the TV for Disney+ and Youtube. No complaints from them!

Great picture but still some software issues

The TCL 5 Series S546 offers a lot of bang for the buck when it comes to features and value, my experience has been good with prior models so it’s an obvious choice for a TV with decent picture quality on a budget that will please the majority of people.

The TV’s picture is fantastic with no major panel defects like DSE, banding etc. Picture is very clear, but colors seemed off to me out of the box (this is very subjective according to taste) with it being oversaturated and skin tones having a slight green tint to them. I prefer natural skin tones and less exaggerated colors, I attempted to calibrate the colors myself and could not get the picture the way I wanted it. After a YouTube search for “TCL S546 Settings” I found a guy named QUANTUM TV video who settings fixed all my issues with color and made the picture perfect. SDR over the air via antenna content 720p & 1080i looks really good with 480i just looking ok. HDR content Dolby Vision & HDR10 with streaming services, Blu-Ray is fantastic. Sound is just average.

Google TV user interface was fine until it updated to latest firmware: Software Ver: V8-R51MT05-LF1V173.020128 which made slower afterwards, hard resetting the TV by turning it off -holding the power button for 15 seconds-then choose reset option fixed this, but OS is still glitchy sometimes with the settings button not working when depressed every now and then. Live OTA TV guide lags and does not propagate info sometimes also. I’m sure TCL with address these bugs in future firmware updates. Overall, I really like Google TV’s layout and voice commands that makes it so much easier to find what I want watch. There are 12 gigs of total storage for apps so that future proofs it a bit.

With any newly released device there are going to be a few bugs to iron out and when that happens this is 5-star product, many will be happy with it.

Picture quality is exceptional. I gave this model 4 stars because the on and off command on remote is delayed. I’ve had to unplug the tv for it to turn on several times. I’m not sure if that’s a software issue or not. Overall great quality great brand.

    Good TV.

I bought this TV to replace a Hisense 50H8G that had developed brown heat spots all over the screen. This TV is a good upgrade over that TV in terms of picture quality.

The remote and audio are worse though. The two 8 watt speakers sound hollow compared to the two 10 watt speakers on the 50H8G. The remote doesn't have a number pad or an input button. You have to access the number pad and inputs through on screen menus.

There was an update when I installed the TV, so I don't have a lag issue with Google TV like the first reviewer. It feels the same as it did on the 50H8G to me. The TV is running Android 11 which is better than the Android 9 running on the 50H8G. It has 11GB of storage with 8.9GB remaining.

I plan to get a Sound Bar to improve the audio. They should have had 4 HDMI inputs instead of just 3 also.

    Great picture, laggy interface

I'll start with the good; this TV has a fantastic picture for the price, punching up there with the likes of the Sony X90J for half the price. There is a huge step up in brightness from last year's S535, which was one of the main complaints. This TV is now an easy buy over the Hisense U6G. SDR and HDR content look great.

The bad: Google TV is laggy and unstable. My old S405 TCL with Roku runs circles around this interface. I've had multiple apps freeze up or crash back to the home screen, and the interface is just slow in general. I am on the latest software, so hopefully some updates are coming soon. I'll probably end up hooking up a Roku Ultra to this soon if it does improve. Not the end of the world (as I prefer Roku anyways), but kind of disappointing. Also, you can not fully disable motion smoothing so you'll always get some very minor Soap Opera Effect, even with all settings "disabled". I'm not sure if this applies when an external blu-ray player is hooked up.

I wish I could rate this a 3.5, as 3.0 feels too low. I'll give it a 4 if TCL fixes the buggy interface.

    Good TV for the price

    Picture quality is good.

    Sound quality is terrible.

Android TV is being replaced with Google TV so this TV made more sense.

I originally got the Android TV TCL 50S434 and thought it was defective because the speaker sounded hollow. Swapped that for a HISENSE 50A6G which was a bit better but still sounded hollow. Swapped another time for this TCL 50S546 mainly cause of Google TV. Decided to use a sound bar so the TCL speakers no longer bothers me.

Lag wasn’t really noticeable prior to update. After update it was noticeable here and there flipping through screens. HBO Max was a struggle for me.

Good quality but this is a Tizen-powered Smart TV

Overall good quality as I've come to expect from Samsung displays but mildly disappointed; this is a Tizen-powered Smart TV. I wanted a plain, ordinary model specifically without Smart features. This model is advertised as "non-smart" capable. I paid extra for it (over the cost of a typical 50" smart TV) for that reason. If you don't connect it to the Internet you'll see a screen overlay nagging you to connect and accept the Samsung TOS agreements. I disabled the notification by connecting temporarily to WiFi, accepting the agreements and then disconnecting.

    Disappointing / App Is Horrible

WOW. I love Samsung but this is a joke. The app is a joke. The digital signage component is a joke. There was so much potential here and they half assed it. Very sad. Please look elsewhere. Can't upload content, the TV's only turn on as scheduled some of the time. Just overall very poor. something I would not expect from Samsung. And the fact you can't manage the content from web is beyond me, it's an extra step getting your content from the computer to the app. You should be able to manage from anywhere and on any device, but primarily computer.

    Poor quality Tv

Just bought this in a 50” model. All I can say is junk. It’s going back tomorrow. The picture quality is horrible. And you either hear the sound or not. I wouldn’t recommend a Vizio.

    Great TV for the price.

Great picture for the price. Was considering an OLED, but didn't want to spend the money for the location of this TV. Extremely happy with the purchase. I had to adjust the color and contrast because every person was pale and colorless when I first turned it on. The sound is good/adequate, but we always planned to add a sound bar.

    Great TV.

It’s a good TV picture and color quality is great. It is a smart TV and it has Ton of streaming apps and is very easy to use and navigate through that’s exactly what I needed for my in-laws who aren’t great with having multiple devices connected to the TV and having to use different controls. So this Tv was perfect for them. Also speakers are great gets loud.

    Sound Issue Easy Fix

This wasn't my first choice but ended up buying because they didn't have what I wanted and I didn't want to drive all over town looking for something else. And I hadn't read any reviews on it prior to my purchase.

Set up was straight forward but NO SOUND. And of course that was in the first review on this site!!!! BUT, there is a very simple fix that Vizio Support Live Chat walked me through.

Press the Settings (star) button. When the settings drop down box appears scroll down to Admin & Privacy & select it. You will then see RELOAD TV as your first choice. Click on that and re-boot the TV. And then there was sound!!!

TV is an upgrade for me so am very satisfied with the picture and sound.

    Bad tv

The quality control for Vizio TVs has really gone downhill. The unit I got had an audible buzzing sound coming from the inputs, even when every this is in plugged. Horrible

    Not for us!

Smart TV? I think not! If there are any of our other TVs are streaming, this tv will not connect to the internet. We have to turn everything else off, then it can connect. And it is not our internet, as everything is new this past year, with the max.
