    Great Printer!

I have a small business in my home. This is my second Brother laser printer. I've been using this one for the last month now. I've had 50 page print jobs run through this with no issues. Extremely fast printer. The double page scanning is awesome. Love the low cost of tonner per page. I'm very pleased with this printer.

    Very dependable high volume MFC

This printer has a larger footprint than most of the Brother Multi Function printers but if you print alot and need a dependable printer this one is great. The drawer holds a full ream of paper and the high yield TN880 toner will last a long time. Very easy network setup and so far great dependability.

Brother printers & tech support are great!

This printer marks my second one from Brother. My first, an MFC model network printer has worked quite well from the get go. This new one is for my wife's office and located immediately next to her desk. It unpacked easily and was not damaged ( although it's shipping box was, so good packaging saved the day!). Since a CD with printer software was included and her computer has no drive, I went online to get the drivers. This was the only glitch...the model wasn't listed on the website prompting a call to customer support. After a fairly brief wait, a Brother tech rep located in Jamaica got on the call and was quite professional in pointing me to the correct drivers and staying online until the installation was completed. I used tech support once before when my other printer lost it's connection. They were just as effective then. The tech support is offered for the life of the machine and is one of the reasons I chose Brother again. I highly recommend the laser printers whether the simple one like this or the more complex like the MFC series. Oh..They operate and printer very well! Getting a good deal from Best Buy with the use of earned Reward Points was frosting on the cake.

    Get this printer!

Get this printer by Brother. The wife and I are happy with our purchase. Our last Brother printer model MFC 8860DN non wireless, purchased back in 2008 lasted 13 years before it broke down. just installed it today and the printer is up and running. Takes 10- 15 minutes to set it up.

This model has fast printing. Great quality prints. Simple set-up of the printer and was asked to upgrade the firmware through the lcd screen.

Print, copy and scan printer works just as advertised.

Best Buy, thank you for your service and fast shipping. On Track delivered the product 1 day before delivery date. High five!

Scanner results are poor, print quality is great

Why 2 stars? Read on. As a printer, it's great. As a wireless printer, the wifi connection is fast and easy to use. As a scanner, my HL-L2395DW is terrible. I have never seen such poor scan quality on any printer I have owned as far back as 2003. I am attaching images of sample scans. One of the images shows you a scan on the new Brother printer/scanner and a scan of the same printed material on the older, less expensive Epson printer. The older printer clearly wins. The Epson printer scan is an accurate representation of the printed material. The Brother printer, to me, has a useless scanner. I can not scan photos or any other material at a high dpi, because the result is useless in software such as Photoshop. It's possible, my scanner isn't calibrated properly, but I have found similar comments about the scanner on this model.

Also I have to say that the quick setup guide that comes with the printer does not feature this printer. It could cause some people to struggle with setup.

If the scanner was awesome, this would be a 5 star review, but since the scanner can not be separated from the printer when considering it's overall usability, I give it 2 stars.

Worked great until we had to change the toner

So we purchased this model back in October of 2018 and the machine worked great, it took some getting used to but overall it was exactly what my wife and I needed for the work we do at home. We finally ran out of toner and opened the high capacity toner that the machine came with through the Best buy deal that was going on.

After installing the toner there was a toner error message. We had to find support online as there was no instructions about clearing this error (thank god for YouTube). Although following the steps on how to rest the toner counter the machine still would not recognize the new toner. So thinking that since the toner was 2 years old, maybe it had expired, we went and got more toner and a air can to spray any dust in the machine to make sure all connections worked etc. Well, new toner also didn't work.

So calling Brother I didn't know what to expect, but after running some tests it turns out a pin was broken that connects to the toner to the machine, so the machine had to be replaced. While I am not happy that the pin would break so easily, I was happy that it was still under the manufacture warranty and brother will ship a new machine in 2-3 business days at no cost to me. I feel that is reasonable solution for a company.

Make sure you are gentle when replacing the toner and this machine should be good for you. We use it primarily for scanning, and that feature works great. The print quality is also good and the speed is great. Way better than using an ink based home machine.

    great printer decent price.

This printer Works flawlessly there is a few downsides like not printing with Bluetooth and when you're printing a photo with a white background it tends to make the white gray other than that the price is a little higher but that's only because of the extra toner that comes with it all over a pretty good printer

Double sided prints have been flawless for my first few hundred pages.

Ink does not dry out because of lack of use.

I have used ink jet printers in the past and the ink would end up drying out. I don't use a printer enough to keep the ink in working order. So this time I went with the laser jet and that problem is solved.

    Terrible for envelope printing

The MFC-L2750DW does a great job printing, copying, and scanning documents. However, if you print envelopes, you will hate this printer unless it is in the middle of the room or you can easily access the back to pull down a flap and push down 2 levers. Envelope text is then crooked. Had to return the printer.

    Very Solid Value & Functionality

As with most Brother products, I am satisfied with the MFC-L2710DW. Price-wise, it is a solid deal. And I prefer the Brother scanning software to Epson and Canon for its flexibility in creating custom scan settings. It is always a little quirky to install Brother drivers and software. And I think this installation may have impacted the older Control Center for my other Brother products, so I need to confirm if that is or is not the case. That said, it is full featured with laser printing, sheet-feed and flatbed scanning, and even faxing (which, I still use on occasion for sending to government and medical organizations). If you've used other Brother products, it's comfortable and familiar. And it's none of that stupid ink subscription nonsense. Also, the purchase and pickup process at Best Buy was fine, so I am happy there as well.

DOA right out of the box.

Looked good and I was excited to get it. Noticed damage to the box when I took possession at the delivery location. It was DOA out of the box. Probably fluke but when I powered it up it said, "PRINT UNABLE 01" on the screen. It would not come up and say "READY". I called and talked to the geek squad and they didn't have any useful ideas; actually wanted me to connect my computer and allow them to take remote control; I didn't even get that far...the multi-function Brother device was never connected to my PC! Brother website said there was a mechanical fault.

It looked to be well designed and constructed with quality materials but I could not get it to come to READY; therefore, I felt any further attempts at configuration would be pointless. I had to return it.

Outstanding printer wish I would have done color

Wish I would have gotten the color printer but it was pricy overall. I do think this printer simple to setup and works outstanding. We were tired of inkjet cartridges and constant failures of my cheaper printers. I think you get what you pay for with the lower budget printers. This seems solid and working well! It’s worth the money if you don’t need color printing!

The best brother you could ask for

Absolutely love this brother. I've also owned several inkjet printers, but the problem was the color ink would dry out since I didn't really use it. I would need to buy a replacement for the color ink cartridge for the printer to work at all although I mostly needed to print in grayscale. This guy requires ink toner and lasts a very long time. I'm still using the same toner I purchase in Sept 2020 and here we are in April 2021. Makes my life so much easier to print shipping labels and documents quickly. I highly recommend it, plus it holds a ton a paper so there's no need to keep refilling it.

    Great buy!

I am shocked at how much I love this printer/scanner - it was a great buy! Sharp printouts and sharp scans. I bought it so I could work from home during the lock down and it was the missing link to bring me up to full productivity from home. Painless set-up with my wifi and good print and scan speeds. The toner cartridge it comes with is just starting to whine that it's getting low and I have already printed off about 2 reams worth of pages! Even screaming for more toner, the printouts are still sharp. I have recommended it to several people I am so happy with it. It's easy to use and it's really good quality!

    Great printer

It is the best decision I made to replace an inkjet printer. This does not print color but give you a lot more printed pages at high speed. The only problem I had was setting up with my laptop. It took me too much time to connect my laptop through WiFi. I had to get cable to connect it with the printer for initial setup. You also have to insert the cd in the laptop that comes with it to download the program. It was not easy for me, but the end result was good. Once I connected it with my laptop I did not have to connect my mobile phone with the printer it connected through the laptop itself. Overall it is a good printer for every day home or small business use.

This printer is a workhorse like the last one.

I had a Brother MFC 7860 for 8 years and never had any problems with it that weren't easily resolved. The issues I had were extremely few and far between. I could always count on this printer to get the job done.

I run a small financial services business and the printer needed to be able to handle heavy duty printing on a regular day to day basis. This was key and necessary for the smooth running of my business.

It finally gave up and I needed to get a replacement.

Because I was so impressed with the performance of my last printer I only researched Brother printers hoping to find as close a match to it as possible.

I replaced it with this printer and I am more than pleased with it's performance. It has performed equally as well as my old printer and I feel more than confident it will last for a very long time.

I have not had any of the problems that are mentioned in the negative reviews.

I would highly recommend this printer.

I had planned to set up a wireless computer to printer connection, but that proved elusive, intermittent at best, and hopeless when the printer was asleep. Was planning to return unit, ugh (which is why I bought local, from Best Buy). Then I just plugged the printer into the (service provider) ATT box with an ethernet cable. Entered ATT password on printer screen. Installed Brother print/scan app. Added printer to computer's list. Everything after that worked flawlessly. I can print from downstairs via computer wireless connection to ATT box to printer; the printer wakes up immediately.

Ignore the supplied CD, just get the latest driver from Brother support, then go to your system's app store for the print/scan app.

Note: as you install the drivers and software on various computers, you may see each time a screen to re-enter the password for your service provider connection. Exit that. You only have to tell the printer once.

Printer is fast, not noisy, not huge, not heavy. I like it.

    Made it efficient and easy

Outstanding overall experience in my search for a good quality home printer. Came to Best Buy in Boca and the service professional helped me through the entire process in an expedient fashion. He listened to my specific needs, discussed alternatives and I was able to quickly come to a decision on the Brother Printer. He checked me out using VISA debit cards I had available along with cash for the remaining balance. The product seems high quality from my initial usages and the client experience at the store is one I've shared with several others. When I am in the market for any items that Best Buy offers, this person is my go to guy. Huge asset for your firm

    Awful with graphics/photos

I returned it August 2021. Awful BANDING and VERY DARK when printing graphics. It was fine with text so if you are just interested in text, it shouldn't t be a problem -- which is why I gave it two stars.

I've been used B&W Brother laser printers since 2008 and never had this problem. My 2nd one, a 7360, is still working and prints graphics and photos fine -- meaning no banding and tonally is what is on the computer monitor.

After I saw the banding/darkness -- I googled and found pro reviews which mention these problems. One is PCMag and the other other is itpro.

    Very pleased so far

First time owning a Brother, first time owning a laser printer. Once it arrived, which was surprisingly quick, I was able to print 36 pages front and back in less than 2 minutes. My old inkjet printer would have taken forever in comparison. I initially wanted the smaller profile version that keeps getting sold out but I'm extremely pleased so far with the performance of this big boy. It looks clean and professional though the larger size is kind of an eyesore at home but I'm getting used to it. Plus, this one has a scanner that'll definitely come in handy one day.

    Excellent, affordable printer

We use Brother printers at work. They are real workhorses that are affordably priced. Refill cartridges also are reasonable, and off-brand cartridges for Brother printers abound if that's your taste. This model is no different. Got it on sale as a "deal of the day," and it was well worth it. Its tapered base comes in handy if you have a bit less room on your printer cart or desktop. It is relatively easy to use, directions are clear, includes a small LCD screen for prompts, scans and prints beautifully, and hooks up for wireless use readily. It includes a starter cartridge. This only prints in B&W, but I have had much more expensive color all-in-one printers from other manufacturers that required a degree in nuclear physics to get to work. This one, in contrast, is a breeze to use. If you don't need color printing (by the way, you scan to your desktop in color anyway with this printer), I recommend this -- especially if you catch a sale.

My Brother has always been good to me.

Just like family. Setup was a breeze. Even the test page printed double sided just to show off. Then, I tried airprint from my iPhone and it worked perfectly. This printer is just $30 more than the cheapest HP laser but this Brother has a scanner! I tested that too and it was perfect. This is great. Replaced an Epson inkjet because it promised I could print one more page when the inks were low and stole it when I really needed that one more print. Bye bye epson. Hello Brother. I had one for years and gave it to a college student and really missed it. Now it's back. Happy.

    Decent printer.

Great printer for business documents or shipping labels. Black ink only.

The only issues I have with this printer are:

    1) the whole Bluetooth thing is nonsense. It has to be plugged into my computer in order to work.

    2) one day it started to says "toner low" but then still works after that for 6 months so far without any other signs of it being low.. So it caused me to buy more ink which for all i know may dry up by the time I finally need it.

    Outstanding printer!

This laser printer is outstanding. It is very easy to set-up, prints beautifully, and is fully-compatible with my iMac. I was able to use AirPrint immediately. Although it comes with a disc to install drivers (for those with computers or external drives to read them), you can also download Brother iPrint & Scan at the Apple app store for free. This installs quickly and allows you to scan. Mac-compatibility was a decisive factor in selecting a printer. Beyond that, I wanted to print high-quality black & white documents quickly, easily, and cost-effectively in terms of ink. This printer is off to a great start meeting all those needs.

    Great Entry Level Office Printer

    ---SETUP---

The setup for the Brother DCP L2250 printer may require some help because of its bulky size and weight. It is recommended that you download the software via a computer instead of a mobile phone, so that’s what I did. Installation was a breeze and connecting the printer to my WiFi network was simple with the WPS button from my router and the WiFi button on the printer.

    ---FEATURES---

The key feature of this printer is that it can hold 250 pages in the tray, can print double-sided, can print wirelessly, and is an all in one solution for businesses (print, scan, fax).

    ---PERFORMANCE---

The performance of this printer is fast for small business needs. I’m a teacher and sometimes the school’s printer fails or is being used by many of my coworkers. I took this printer to my classroom and I printed 50 pages, front and back in about 5 minutes (it can do 36 pages per minute when single sided). The printer didn’t slow down and all pages came out with a great crisp look.

    ---EXPECTATIONS---

The product meets my expectations. I tried out the scanner mode on a wrinkled certificate award that I had received but valued. I fed it through the top auto-document feeder and it scanned my certificate in full color perfectly. I then printed a copy just to test out the side feeder using cardstock and the printer didn’t fail to impress. The only downside I found to the printer is that in the button panel itself, it only had buttons for up and down arrows to navigate. The problem is that frequently, you are asked to make options that are left and right of each other with arrows pointing up or down as your choices. This gets confusing and slows down productivity, but it just takes some time to relearn it’s quirks. I would have prefered a whole crosspad (up, down, left, right arrows) for easier menu navigation when not printing directly from a computer or mobile phone.

    ---VALUE---

The price for the printer in terms of value is quite competitive compared to other laser printers.

    ---APPROVAL---

I highly recommend this product for people who own businesses and are looking for an all in one solution to their business needs. This printer uses toner instead of ink and can only print in black and white. If your business fits this criteria, it’s a great entry level office printer with a few odd choices for button options. Still, it won’t disappoint.

    Easy Set-Up, Solid Performance

I have used only inkjet printers over the years and have always suffered from two problems: Either the ink would run out too quickly and I had to buy expensive replacements, or the ink would dry up in the dispenser if I went too long in between printing sessions. For these reasons I have always wanted a laser printer that uses a toner cartridge. I am stoked that I don't have to worry about ink for a long time as toner cartridges last forever.

    Pros:

    - Easy to set up. I used the printer menu to connect to my wireless network then installed the Mopria app on my phone and was printing wirelessly in no time flat.

    - As stated above, toner cartridges last forever. You don't have to worry about them drying up or running out after printing a few photos.

    - Can print on both sides of the paper

    Cons:

    - Black and white printing only. But I actually don't mind this as it's easy to upload and print photos at your local drug store or to use an online service to mail them to you. It is way cheaper than buying your own ink.

    - The menu display is poor. Printers from 10 years ago had interfaces like this one. While it's easy enough to navigate, it just seems like ancient technology. The buttons you press to navigate also seem cheap and feel like they could wear out over time.

Overall, this is an excellent option for your printing needs. I recommend that everyone kick inkjet printers to the curb and go with laser printers, as you will save a lot of money and frustration.

The all in one printer I have been waiting for...

All in One Printer/Scanner/Copier that is perfect for home use.

Seamlessly makes printing, scanning, and copying as easy as connecting to a network and pushing a button.

    SETUP:

Setup is easy and consisted of plugging it in, connecting it to my Wi-Fi network, and downloading the software.

There is also an option to use it in wired mode with a USB cable.

    GENERAL USE:

Once connected to my Wi-Fi network, printing wirelessly is as easy as pushing a button from my laptop or wireless device. It is really that easy and convenient!

I am even able to print from my iPhone and iPad! This is important because I spend as much or more time on my phone and tablet as I do on my laptop.

Since this printer is wireless, you are not limited to placement in any specific area. It can be placed anywhere that is convenient or where you have space.

    PRINTING:

The print quality is excellent and is much better than the average inkjet. It even looks good with the toner save mode on.

It wakes up and prints quickly and quietly.

    COPYING:

I only need to make copies from time to time, but it is very nice to have the ability to make copies at home.

    SCANNING:

I am going to use the scan function frequently. This way I can get rid of documents that I only need an electronic copy of.

Scanning quality is excellent and scans are in color.

    TONER:

Since I don't need to print in color, there are many benefits to having a laser printer.

The toner powder doesn't dry out, and page for page is cheaper than inkjet cartridges. This is especially important to me because I don't print a lot, and in the past I have wound up getting rid of inkjet cartridges that have dried out.

    VERDICT:

This is the all in one device that I have been waiting for. I have had printers before but have been disappointed because they have not met my needs. I have now found the perfect all in one printer.

    USEFUL TIP:

Turn on the toner save mode to make the toner last even longer. In this mode the print quality is suitable for most applications. I will only turn this mode off for the times I need the page to look really good.

Great Affordable Choice for Home or Small Business

    Unboxing:

Upon opening the very large box you will find the printer, AC cord and set up instructions with a disc.

    Footprint:

Remarkably small, if a bit tall. It fit on my desk in the exact spot of my previous printer taking up 3 more inches of work surface real estate, while providing a flat scan and copy surface my previous printer lacked.

    Set up:

Basic set up was quite easy, consisting of removing quite a few pieces of blue tape, installing the toner cartridge, plugging the printer in and pressing the power button.

Home network set up was also very simple, after downloading the driver and software package from brother.com. The installer took a few moments to identify the printer on the local WiFi network and a few clicks later we were up and running.

    Google Cloud Print:

Google Cloud Print is the main reason I got this printer. My older Brother printer didn't support Google Cloud Print and it drove me up the wall. After setting this printer up on a windows laptop and verifying that everything worked well, I grabbed my trusty Chromebook and set up Google cloud print. Once again, a few simple clicks had me up and running. Being able to print from my Chromebook was such a relief.

    MacBook:

After setting up the Windows laptop and Chromebook, I tried my Apple Air Book. Setup was just as easy with the Apple device and printing was a breeze.

    Default Settings:

The printer is preset to print two-sided documents. I found this to be a pleasant surprise and I kept the setting that way.

Noise: Louder than I expected, but not at all disruptive. Just a bit louder than an inkjet printer.

    Toner:

This is my second Brother laser printer and I can tell you the toner cartridges last a loooong time with average home use. My previous printer lasted almost 4 years before the toner ran out. The cartridges may seem expensive when it's time to replace them, but they are much cheaper than other inks on a page for page comparison.

    Overall:

This printer is an excellent solution for a small business with its long-lasting cartridges and copy and scan abilities. It is more than sufficient for home use if you accept that little Johnny can get an A with a simple black and white book report. I prefer the monochrome devices to color, for savings. I have never printed photos and I never will. It's much more cost effective to print photos at the drug store or other stores that offer very competitive prices and fast service.

Most people print emails, coupons, reports, and resumes. Sometimes we print interesting articles. None of these uses require color printing. If you find you printing habits don't actually require color inks, monochrome is the way to go. This Brother monochrome laser printer is a great choice. I highly recommend it.

    Excellent Printer with Robust Features!!!

I was elated to be chosen to review this printer due in large part of my being an owner of its predecessor, Brother 2540 DCPL model. I purchased the 2540 in January of 2015 and I must state that it has served me and continues to serve me extraordinarily well! The 2540 was my second venture into the world of laser printers. I stumbled on this model by happenstance as I did some internet research (on various models) with the biggest feature in mind was the desire to have a network printer. This model (2540) met that requirement along with its other great features immensely. However, a known problem came to surface—it was the fact that the 2540 would go into a deep sleep and would not awaken unless the machine was powered off and back on. After doing extensive research, I was fortunate to find a solution by changing some settings. Unfortunately, Brother has discontinued the (2540) model and this (2550) model is its replacement. I really don’t see but a few major differences that are evident in the two they are:

    OLD-Model 2540 DCPL:

    -Print Speed at 30 ppm

-Toner cartridge used is Brother genuine 630 & 660

    -Paperport Nuance 12

    NEW-Model 2550 DCPL:

    -Print Speed at 36 ppm

-Toner cartridge used is Brother genuine 730 & 760 which are now chipped.

    -Paperport Nuance 14

I can tell you the performance of this new machine alike the old machine is great as the machine prints out beautiful laser copies at a fast pace, scans clean and produces clean copies as well. The software, Paperport Nuance version 14 is very intuitive as it is user-friendly with many features such as folders for your scans and copies, a desktop for your scans, along with many other useful tools and features that enhances productivity.

This is my sixth device from Brother, 5 of which are printers and 1 scanner. I can honestly say without reservation that Brother really manufactures quality products at affording pricing. Brother cares about their customers as they offer life time support of their products with excellent customer care support staff who really aims to resolve problems when they arise. Therefore, if you are in the market for a great printer with robust features at affordable pricing then please don’t look any further because Brother is at your side!

Solid All-In-One Designed For Home Use

Brother’s DCP-L2550DW is their new low-priced wireless all-in-one monochrome laser printer, copier, and (color) scanner - it does NOT have fax capability. It is basically an office-quality printer for home use. It has a document feeder that handles 50 pages, a large-capacity paper tray (250 pages), a manual feed slot for things like envelopes and card stock, can process duplex print jobs, and has a top print rate of 36 ppm. I have it setup as a wireless printer and find that the printer wakes up from sleep mode instantaneously for a new print job (it’s really impressive) - it can also be established as a wired network printer or can be used as a dedicated USB printer. Naturally, it allows printing from mobile devices. Brother estimates that standard toner cartridges will yield 1200 pages (high-capacity toner cartridges should yield 3000 pages) - the included toner is a low-capacity introductory (?) cartridge and will yield closer to 600 pages. It feels like it is solid and well-constructed - but be aware that it’s going to take up a lot of space - it’s large and kinda heavy (but surprisingly quiet).

I only have one gripe-y comment about this heavy-duty beast - it is way better designed to be operated from a computer than from the machine itself. Navigation of modes and features from the machine’s control panel is done by way of arrows and an ‘OK” button and a two-line LCD display. It feels almost intentionally unintuitive - surely this design allowed Brother to keep costs down but since they already have LCD touchscreen technology developed and available in some of their other machines, I’m not sure how much more this would have affected the cost of this low-end model.

Major upgrade. Totally love this MF printer.

I just purchased this Brother MFC-L8900CDW to replace my 3-year old Canon imageCLASS MF8280CW which had started to short out, resetting itself over and over, making it impossible to get a small 15-page print job completed without jamming! Hindsight being 20/20, I really did my research this time around when looking for a replacement color laser multi function printer. Faster, more efficient, higher quality, significantly more/better features. FOUND IT!! I Just received this Brother MFC-L8900CDW 2 days ago and can honestly say that I’m actually giddy about this printer! Print quality is great. Scan quality and speed is spectacular. Having the ability to scan to PDF, editable PDF, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and HTML has to be one of my FAVORITE and unexpected features. Really totally cool —- and something I will use! The 2-sided single pass scanning is lightning fast. My old Canon couldn’t scan to email. Only scan option was scan to PC which had to be done through their antiquated app. I’m talking 1995 level of technology in their app. I am nostalgic about the 90’s and all but NOT when it comes to technology. Scan file format options w/ Canon was horrifically limited to image files. The scan process was slow and brutally painful. Scanning was such a miserable process that I kept my old HP inkjet for the sole purpose of quick user friendly scans to email. Now, I’m able to shed the old HP as the Brother far surpasses the speed, quality and ease of scanning to email! Auto duplex printing is great... something my Canon couldn’t do. The option to purchase true ultra high capacity toner cartridges (6,500 pages in black and all 3 colors) will save me $$. While the upfront cost of the high capacity cartridges is much more, I will be saving BIG in the longer term. Canon color cost 0.06 vs Brother color cost of 0.027 and Canon B&W cost of 0.033 vs Brother B&W cost of 0.013. The added benefit of purchasing the TN436 means I can go way longer before I need to replace and less instances of running out then freaking out to get a new cartridge to finish a project. Seriously, I felt like I was running out of toner in the Canon once a month when printing < 1000 pages of varying color and B&W. I question actual capacity of Cannon’s stated capacity. When the Canon said low, that was it. No shaking and replacing to get more life despite the fact that is exactly what the printer told you to do. That NEVER worked. The first error that toner was low, you were done! Canon did not offer high capacity cartridges for color, only offered for black and their “high capacity” meant 2,500 where Brother offers 6,500. Again, I am giddy with delight over this purchase and drastic upgrade to my print/scan/copy game!

Prints and scans great - Copies are awful!

Sorry to have to leave such a low review. Big expensive printer, super excited to get it. It did everything great as far as printing and scanning, but when I copied something it a bit blurry and washed out. Called Geek squad and they were great but couldn't fix the issue. They said it was a hardware issue (if the problem was with the printer or scanner it would have been an issue with the drivers, but the copier was hardware). They sent a replacement printer and I received it with the same exact issue. This time I dealt with Brother Tech Support, it got elevated, then elevated again, no fix. Worst support experience ever and I am 60 years old. They repeatedly told me they would call me back and never did. I'm done with Brother. Back to HP for me. :0/

    Great printer!! (Mostly....)

I truly love this printer. It works great and the ink lasts a VERY long time. I used to have to replace cartridges oh my previous printer quite often and they're so expensive! I also discovered that I could buy "off brand" refills for this printer on Amazon for so much less than the Brother refills are. And so far they've always worked great.

Now, my only issue is that after a good year without any problems, it now constantly loses connection with my computer. I'd have to get behind the cabinet it sits on and unplug it and plug it back in. CONSTANTLY! That was not an easy task. I was getting very frustrated, and have no idea why this started happening. But I found a bandaid for the situation, I bought a cheap smart plug from Amazon and whenever I need the printer I use to app (or ask Alexa) to disconnect the power and reconnect it. It's still a pain, but not like it was, and it works great.

    Great Printer!

I have used Brother printers for a long time. They hold up and are a great value. The only reason I replaced my other Brother MFC (from 2008) printer was because of an MS Win 10 upgrade that won't let the computer scan. I only wish that the paper trays would take envelopes. I did buy an additional paper tray so I am stocked with legal and letter sizes. The trays are very pricy, too pricy. Over all I am satisfied.

    Brother MFC-L8900CDW

Very good color laser all-in-one printer. I got it for home use, printing & scanning documents from PC & iPhones. Much better than ink-jet, toner doesn't dry out like ink-jet ink does. Comes with a set of standard size toner cartridges. If you subtract the cost of the cartridges from the cost of the printer, you'll realize how inexpensive the printer really is. The printer is heavy and needs to be on a sturdy table. Mine is on an end table next to my desk.

The setup went smoothly with the printer on WiFi and the CD-Rom in my desktop. At the end of the setup, the printer and the PC updated themselves from the Internet. I leave it on and asleep 24x7.

Print & scan quality are excellent. The print, copy & ADF scanner resolution are 600 DPI, the flatbed scanner is 1200 DPI. Colors are good for office use but definitely not photo quality. If you print color photos, you need an ink-jet.

I bought this printer because of it's overall functionality & quality. I use duplex printing & scanning 99% of the time. I really like the ADF single pass duplex scanner, it never jams. The reversing ADF scanner in my previous printer (another mfg'r) used to jam more often than not. Also this ADF scanner's 600 DPI resolution is really appreciated, the other mfg'r that I considered highlighted his 1200 DPI flatbed resolution but carefully avoided mentioning his ADF resolution. If you go to the store and try that other mfg'rs ADF scanner, you find out that it's still the same 300 DPI that it was in 2013.

    Solid Printer

This is a nice printer. Initial setup was somewhat annoying due to the fact that I had to utilize support and work on cleaning individual rollers which took several hours. Support was helpful however. Now the printer is functioning well. I wish the speed was a little faster from computer to printer. Some color adjustments needed to make the most vibrant prints, because the color is somewhat warm and washed out prior to changing settings. After some fiddling, this has been a solid printer. It has made WFH much easier. Scanner works quickly. I haven't tested fax capability yet, but intend to soon.

    Good Laser Printer

I have had this printer for a few weeks now and it does a much better job than my inkjet and of course, no more runny ink issues! Color pictures come out nice, and it prints much faster than my old printer. I only used the manual feed once and I had some trouble with it, but I think that was mostly learning curve on my part. Once I figured out you had to go into the settings on the printer, I was able to get it working. That could be easier in my opinion, but I won't use that feature too frequently anyway.

    Overall a great printer!

    More Buttons Please

I bought this All-In-One device for a relative with poor eye sight. The unit still has buttons so she is able to us it. The interface is easy enough for her to use due to the tactile feed back provided by the membrane buttons. The LCD screen is nearly unreadable for her without use of a magnifying glass but that was to be expected. I bought this for her because she doesn't do a lot of high volume printing/copying and the ink in the inkjet she had was constantly drying out. I would recommend this printer to individuals with low sight and wish that there were more products with buttons and dials instead of smooth touch screen interfaces.

    Description is inaccurate

This printer is advertised as ‘All in One’ which leads one to assume it is wireless, which it is not. And nowhere does the description emphasize that fact. I had a laser printer back in the 90s that unfortunately stopped feeding from the paper tray, so I replaced it with an all-in-one inkjet, but I got tired of paying for cartridges, or having cartridges dry out before empty. Big Disappointment...

Having a vast amount of experience with HP printing devices over the years, I can confidently state that potential purchasers should try to avoid this product for a while. HP is known for clunky software/firmware implementation and there are vast resources available which can be read online & support this historical context.

Immediately upon setting up my printer, I went through the steps of installing the various software packages available on their support website. There's what is called a "Full" package, there are "Universal" and "Basic" driver packages as well. HP installation routines will commonly crash or become stuck with no apparent reason. To compound the issues further - that I faced - the internal printing mechanism produced some horrendous sounds when it went through it's initial 'power-up' sequences for the very first time. I heard what sounded like some extreme mechanical collisions or slamming.

Once I ran through several install/uninstall attempts I was finally able to get the printer to work properly utilizing the "Universal" driver package. Printing, scanning, copying and communication to the MFP's internal configuration all appeared somewhat normal. I did perform a firmware update along the way but this new firmware didn't fix any of the error codes I experienced.

When I queried the "event log" of the printer (through an Ethernet connection), I discovered critical failure notifications. I've attached the screen shot of what I first observed. I also receive consistent error messages that the printer is out-of-paper at the end of print jobs. Something is terribly amiss here. I've attached a screen capture of that as well.

HP Smart is an application that will automatically install in the background of a Windows 10 machine, and this software will not only provide error messages and configuration settings - but it also links into something called the HP print & scan doctor. Essentially a self help diagnostic app. The HP Smart app is a prime mover in the popping up 'out-of-paper' notifications in the Win 10 notification tray.

I do have some good things to say about this printer.

It's faster than the M426 generation and looks to employ more power saving and toner saving feature controls than it's predecessors. Perceived sound can be highly subjective but my particular unit seems much louder than older HP MFP's I've used. Perhaps this is related to some internal, mechanical issues.

    The Good:

Faster and noticeably more precise toner application - translated - clearer printing.

Compact in overall size & work space footprint.

    The Bad:

Poor software implementation and a tedious installation experience.

    Louder in operation.

False positives with the consistent, out of paper error messages.

Prone to "Fuser Drive (internal hardware) 50.04.00 Errors".

I can not recommend the HP - LaserJet Pro MFP M428fdw printer at the present time.

HP B&W printer comes through again... five stars!

First off, I love HP and its products. They are usually dependable and this one was no different. From the purchase to the setup (of course, I casually glanced at the directions), it only took 10 minutes to have it up and running. I was printing pages shortly after that. I love that it can scan, fax, and read from a USB thumbdrive. It was an upgrade from a previous HP that I had and I could not be happier. I love the sleek design and simple "footprint" that it has... it can set anywhere in a smaller apartment or in a corner of a home office. HP (so far) has proven to be a sturdy, reliable, and affordable option to home printing. Enjoy it.

    Great, great, office printer

The LaserJet Pro MFP M428fdw is surprisingly compact for being capable of so much. I was expecting a huge box, but when it arrived I was pleasantly surprised by the small footprint. Setup was easy. I used the printer's touchscreen to set up a wifi connection (a USB connection could also be used). It connected easily to my internet, and my mobile devices saw it immediately as a printer on the network. I printed documents from an iPad and an Android phone, and that was before I did the PC setup! Loved the connectivity. There is an option if you are an IT person and want to set the printer up for an office environment to do so. Since I am using this in my personal office, I did not try setting up the office environment option.

I went to HP's site and downloaded the PC software, including the scanning tool. What's great about this, the printer can scan two-sided documents via the auto-feeder and send them to any computer that you have the scanning software installed on, as well as handheld devices. I tried this with several documents, and only had one glitch where I had to power the printer off and then back on because the scanner locked up. The restart corrected the issue, and I haven't had one since.

I love the fact that this unit can print two-sided copies as fast as other units I have had that only print one side. I printed a 17-page peer-review on leadership studies in less than 7 seconds (double-sided). Simply impressive! Print quality was outstanding. I had several other folks send docs to be printed. Both the Macs and the Windows PC's we tested found the printer on my network immediately and printed to it without having to do anything special.

I tested the fax component of the machine (yes, people do still actually use those...) by faxing a 6-page document to my workplace fax machine and then back. No issues getting dial-tone, no issues sending the fax, and I set it up to print me a success page after it was sent.

In an office environment, or even if you need a high-speed, quality printer at home to scan, fax and print double-sided black and white copies, you can't do much better than this HP. I can't think of an all-in-one printer that I have liked as much as this one, thus the 5-star review. Highly recommended!

    Fast and complicated

HP is my go-to company for printers, and sometimes, scanners. The MFP M428fdw is a fast, very good quality printer, scanner and fax machine. I didn’t test the fax because...who is faxing?

The build quality is high and it seems robust enough for home, SoHo and small office environments.

Scanning and printing are fast, with very good quality.

Downsides? The app you download has struggled with connectivity for me. This may not be the same for you, depending on your WiFi and OS situation. I’m running Windows 10 Pro over a WiFi sub network of our core Ethernet network.

The unit is attractive, quick, quiet and I’m not raving about it, but I will recommend the product.

    Great Connected All In One

This is a great printer and scanner. The HP Smart App works perfectly with this printer and I love scanning things to my phone using the app.

It is black and white only and the paper tray is letter only (you have to manually feed longer sheets). I also had issues with scale when printing from my phone using the native Apple print function (easily fixed by printing from the HP app).

This printer is very compact for everything it does. It has a slower quiet mode, but it is already much quieter than my other printer in normal mode. It also is very nice looking and I had no issues with using the touch screen.

A USB cable is included and a phone line for the fax. I didn’t need them thanks to being able to print wirelessly and scan using my phone. It also has a USB port for a thumbdrive.

I would definitely recommend this multifunction printer based on the app and ease of use.

Everything you need for a small/home office!

I've been looking for a laser printer that would not break the bank for lots of printing on a small home office. Finally found it!

Box was a little heavy, but the printer feels compact and solid. It has a scanner, printer fax. They even included the necessary toner to start printing. Setup was easy. Make sure you have an internet connection, because the software has to be downloaded. But after doing so, the install was easy, I was able to set it up with my wifi network and now I can print from anywhere.

Print quality is great, as expected from a laser printer and fast. I just looked around and the replacement toners are around $59 to $79, but they last long. The LCD screen was big and easy to read, even for my aging eyes!

I highly recommend this all in one for anyone with a small office/home office!

    Nice B&W Printer

Very good black and white printer. Easy to setup and prints instantly. Saved over a hundred dollars buying this one over the WiFi version. Hooked it to a wireless router and can print from multiple computers wirelessly throughout the house. Prefer this much more over WiFi, too, since they always seem to take a while to print after clicking the print button.

Great reliable workhorse of a MFP.

Windows 10 instantly recognized the MFP M428fdn and installed the printer drivers; but to really use all it's potential take the time to install the full suite of software that HP gives you.

    Great MFP from HP

I don't do a lot of printing/scanning/faxing, but when I need these services, I need them to work and work well. Have just set this up and have already used all the functions. Still have things to learn, but, am overall impressed with the quality and ease of use of this product. The only hitch is that it doesn't do legal size.

    Great Color Laser Printer!

This is a very solid laser printer! It does several things really well, and when it comes to the core functionality of printing, you will not be disappointed!

    Setup:

Setup was very easy and straightforward. The quick start guide provided very clear instructions, and unpacking the product was easy. Just had to pull off some tape and plug it in. The toner was already installed and ready to go. Connecting to WiFi was super quick and easy, and installing on my computer was a breeze.

    Print Quality and Performance:

When it comes to the quality of prints and the speed at which this printer prints documents, you will not be disappointed. As I would expect from a laser printer, text and other content printed is very crisp and high quality. Additionally, the print speed of this machine is great! I printed a 4 page document using the automatic duplex (double-sided) printing feature that this machine has and it printed in around 45 seconds.

Compared to my other printer which is an inkjet, this printer prints much faster and at a noticeably higher quality. As far as colors go, this printer also does a great job. I printed several documents with colors and was quite impressed with the quality of the colors printed. Sometimes laser printers can struggle when it comes to color, but the colors that were printed from this machine looked realistic and of great quality.

    Scanning:

Overall, this printer does a great job at scanning. I tested using the document feeder for scanning and it scans super fast, which is a really big plus! The quality was also great.

That being said, there are a few capabilities/improvements that I wish this printer had when it comes to scanning. First of all, it does not have automatic duplex scanning. I believe there may be a manual option for duplex scanning in Windows, but I have a Mac and did not see this option in the HP Smart app on my Mac. There is a way to scan documents to PDF and then combine and re-order them to your liking in Preview on the Mac, but that is not as convenient as automatic duplex scanning. This is not a huge deal, but it would have been a really beneficial feature to include with this machine.

Additionally, while I do really like HP’s scan to email feature, it seems that this capability is long overdue for an upgrade with better integration with email services like Gmail. In order to get this feature to work, you have to set up an app-specific password for the printer to access your Gmail account, as well as enable “Allow less secure apps”. While it works great once set up, these steps for configuring are both less than optimal when it comes to security, and they are complicated for most people to set up. I have an HP inkjet printer that is over 6 years old that required configuration for this feature in the exact same way, so I was hoping that by now this would have been improved.

    Size and Looks:

This is a very big printer! Be prepared with a large space to put it. Additionally, it is very heavy. Considering that this is a color laser printer, it makes sense that it is big and heavy, but you definitely want to make sure you have somewhere to fit this beforehand. If you are looking for a compact printer, this is not the printer for you.

When it comes to looks, the printer looks very clean and professional.

    Other Features and Thoughts:

    5GHz WiFi:

I was really glad that this printer comes with dual band WiFi capability. It is great that I can connect this wireless printer to my 5 GHz WiFi network. It seems that many printers still come with 2GHz only, so I was really glad to see 5 GHz on this printer. I noticed that when printing to this machine, it seemed to receive and start print jobs very quickly, and I think the 5 GHz definitely contributed to how quick this machine received and completed print jobs.

    Touchscreen:

The touchscreen on this printer is a great addition and works really well! Touchscreen printers are so much easier to set up and maintain since you can input and update WiFi settings as well as other important settings quickly and easily right on the printer itself.

    Machine Software and Firmware:

As I mentioned, I have an HP inkjet printer that is over 6 years old. The interface on this printer looks very similar and must be based off the same software, which feels a bit dated to me. It’s not bad, but I would have expected something more recent on a brand new HP model. The local web interface for configuring features and changing settings on this printer looks especially dated. Despite the dated software on the machine, it interfaces very well with the HP Smart software which is very modern. It also works with all of the latest features, including ePrint, AirPrint, etc. So, overall, the software on the machine is more than sufficient.

    Reliability and Build Quality:

In all of my testing, this printer was very fast and reliable! The software and firmware are reliable and it handled all print and scan jobs very quickly.

When it comes to build quality, this machine feels like it is a really solid and well-made machine, so I would expect it to last a long time. That being said, I wish that HP offered a better standard warranty than just 1 year. This machine is not cheap, and I would have liked to have seen more from HP showing that they stand behind their product.

    Toner Cost:

I looked at the pricing on toner for this machine, and it is expensive! A 3150 yield black toner cartridge alone will run you almost $100 from HP. So, definitely keep that in mind. While this is an expensive printer, I do feel that it is well-made and built to last, not to mention that is does an awesome job when it comes to print quality.

    Conclusion:

Overall, this is a great printer! My biggest disappointment with this machine is the lack of automatic duplex scanning capability, but other than that, it handles all core functionalities incredibly well. Pages printed are crisp and of great quality, printing and scanning was really fast, scans came out in great quality, and the printer was very responsive. Additionally, it includes automatic duplex printing capability, which is a really important feature to have. When using the duplex printing, it was really fast as well. This printer also goes above and beyond other printers with 5GHz WiFi capability.

I do feel that HP could have used newer software and improved the scan to email capabilities on this machine, and I do really wish automatic duplex scanning was a feature, but overall this printer does a great job and has all of the most important features I would expect in a great laser printer. I would definitely recommend this machine to those needing fast printing and/or high quality printing capabilities. I could definitely see it being a really great addition to a home office or small business.

A workhorse for households and small businesses

Verdict: we love this printer! It’s now installed over Wi-Fi on all the computers in the house. With 4-in-1 functions, fast duplex printing and ADF scanning, it is a workhorse machine for any household and even small businesses. However, I am dreading the replacement cost for the toner, which will likely come sooner than we expect since it’s so easy for everyone to print now.

Initial impressions. It is heavy! Yes of course, it’s a big printer, but it’s heavier than I expected. Definitely follow the recommendation that is on the flyer as soon as you open the box on how to remove the printer from the box, especially if you are alone. The touch screen is beautiful and bright (and it rotates!), giving the impression of high tech. My previous printer still had a black and white screen with buttons on the side… This is a nice upgrade.

Setup. Besides having to rearrange some things to fit this printer in our office since it was bigger than the old one, setup was easy. Make sure you set it up on a sturdy table or desk; as already mentioned, it is heavy! The toner was already installed (note that these are “introductory cartridges” good for 1350 color pages and 700 black pages). The printer has many, if not all, connection options (Wi-Fi, USB, Apple AirPrint, etc.). I always dread the software installation for printers because something always goes wrong, but to my surprise, I had no issues! Download was easy and installation didn’t run into any issues. We connected through Wi-Fi and in just a few minutes the printer was up and running.

Printing. Printing is much faster than our old HP. It will be fast for most people too, unless you compare it to a full-size copier. The black and white printing is comparable to our old HP LaserJet printer (black & white only), but now having the color option is fantastic. And front and back printing? Yes! Up to 21 ppm, so pretty good.

Scanning. I tested the scanner with the document feeder and I was impressed by the speed and reliability of the operation. No paper jams, no bad fuzzy scans, or issues with the document format on the computer. It used to be so hard to scan reliably, but not anymore. It just works, and you can select any format you want, including PDF. Please note that it will not scan duplex; this is not a problem for us but consider your household or small business needs. The printer will email your scans but it requires a specific setup. I was expecting an easier feature like on my work copier where I can just enter an email when I scan and it automatically sends it there. If I do much more scanning, I may go through all the steps to set it up.

Toner. More so than our old HP Laserjet, the toner is expensive… Really, in my perspective, this is the only drawback of this machine. Make sure you check the prices before buying this printer so you know what you are getting into. I don't really understand why it is so expensive. On the plus side, it is really easy to switch out the toner, the tray just comes out with all the toner cartridges.

    Things I like:

    - All-in-one powerhouse printer! Yes, it’s big and heavy but for most it’s the only machine you’ll need

    - Duplex color laser printing!

    - Print from your smartphone! And any Mac or Windows computer

    - Many connection options for your computers and network

    - Fast and quality prints

    - Automatic document feeder allows for easy (non-duplex) scanning

    - Scanning is reliable and makes choosing the document format really easy

    - Easy setup! This is not a “give-me.” Software installs and printer networking is usually a pain, but this setup was not. Thank you!

    - It has a fax (!!), which actually comes in handy once in a blue moon

    Things I don’t like:

    - Toner is very expensive

    - Duplex scanning would have been great but not such a big deal for us

    - Scan to email feature could have been better implemented

Overall, this is a fantastic printer. I would recommend it if you want a solid printer for your home and you are ok with the features and cost of the toner. I would rate this printer 5 stars if it wasn't for the toner cost, which I think is a significant consideration in purchasing this machine. Otherwise, this printer is HP quality and reliability all the way.

    A Bit of a Disappointment

Overall, the M238 is very good multi-use device. However, there are some issues that prevent it from being great.

    PROs:

    * Set up is very easy. Just follow the onscreen instructions, and it’s ready in minutes.

    * The primary paper dispenser (designated #2) is easy to access and offers a variety of paper size options.

    * Printing a document is quiet and very fast, be it color or b&w, including two-sided printing.

    * Scan function is also quiet, fast, and produces good quality reproduction.

    * Touchscreen control panel is large enough for easy reading.

    * The operational software HPSmart is easy to use.

    * Unless you are a high demand user, the toner cartridges should last quite a while. That’s a good thing, because replacements are expensive.

    CONs:

*There is second paper dispenser (designated#1), and you must look for it, because there is no diagram of functional areas. The numbers embossed on the printer front give a clue that there should be another dispenser. When it’s found, DO NOT try to remove it for loading it, as it is designed for hand feeding individual sheets. Again, there is no documentation regarding its functionality; so, being used to multi-sheet loading, I removed. By removing it, I learned the composition is very thin plastic and is a chore to get reinserted. I was afraid it would break before I got it back. So, you can insert single paper sheets or single photo sheets, which is not ok if you need to print more than one or two items.

    * While the M238 duplex prints, it does NOT duplex scan. So, using the document feeder for scanning two-sided documents requires manual input, essentially doubling scanning time. If you have a large multipage document, you cannot load and go. You must turn over the document, and then send it back through. That can be tedious, even more so than the single sheet printer feed.

    * Photo printing is awful. Colors are washed out, even on high gloss paper, and the printed picture looks like a photo from many years ago that was exposed to light. Also, when a picture is printed, it exits into an area inside the printer. To retrieve it, you must lean over if sitting in a chair or standing, stick your hand inside an open area recessed in the printer, and then pull out the picture. That wouldn’t be so bad if you received a proper print.

    * For the cost of the printer, one would expect it would not lack any functionality and that ALL work product would be excellent.

    BOTTOM LINE:

If you don’t care about quality photo printing, this is an excellent printer. If you don’t mind manually scanning two-sided documents, this is an excellent scanner. However, without those caveats being disclosed, I would not recommend it to a friend.

Large & Heavy, but Great for Crafting

Set up: The initial set up for this printer was easy to understand and was very quick. It took less then 5 minutes to get it set up and printing.

Size: This printer is quite large! We needed to give up a lot of valuable desk real estate to upgrade from our simple inkjet to this laser jet printer. If space is limited, this may not be the printer for you.

Looks: I appreciate that this printer is more of a whitish gray plastic. Our previous ink jet printer was shiny black plastic and it would very quickly become dusty. Also, the glossy surface would show smudges and fingerprints. This material shows less dust and doesn't smudge as easily. Thankfully I wont have to dust it off as often.

Printing quality: I was impressed by the printing quality. I intend to use the printer for crafting & diy projects - So, the first test was printing onto waterslide paper (which I compared to the same image previously printed with an inkjet). The quality and color was virtually identical. As someone who works with waterslide paper often-I would recommend this printer for those who work crafting projects.

Speed: I scanned and printed 20 copies of a full page black and white documents. The printer took about a minute to scan the page in, and took a little less than two minutes to print 20 copies. The process was very easy to understand and was quick. Even those who do not consider themselves particularly tech savvy will be able to use this printer.

Overall: I was very impressed by this as an entry level laser printer. The speed and quality seem very high for the price of the product and I would recommend this printer to anyone looking for a laser printer in this price range.

CAUTION: Be aware that the replacement toner is VERY expensive. Typically I purchase generic toner from whatever website offers the best price. BUT, there are several warnings that generic cartridges may not work. It appears as though HP goes out of there way to ensure that only licensed toner will work. As the printer is connected to your wireless network - it sounds as though Over The Air Updates may be used to ensure that generic cartridges do not work. Please look up the replacement toner to ensure you understand how much you will be paying for replacements. (I now understand why some people literally purchase a new printer every they need new Toner or Ink).

    Great Multi-Function Color Laser Printer

This HP Color LaserJet Pro M283fdw is a very well built, feature rich printer as you have come to expect from HP.

    Unpacking and setup:

This is a fairly heavy printer (just over 40lbs) and taking it out of the box is not that difficult if you follow the instructions. It can be done by one person, but may be easier if someone else was holding the box while you're pulling on the plastic bag to slide the whole unit out with the box laying on its side. The setup is quick and easy, you don't have to mess with the toner cartridges cause they're already installed. Downloading the full Software Suite (240MB) from HP's website took longer than expected, but it was probably some Internet congestion, etc. The Hardware initialization and Software install took about 5 minutes but may be faster on a newer PC. Once completed, and setup on the wired network, a print out came out automatically with the web printing email address and information on how to print from anywhere.

    Connectivity:

This printer has it all. You can connect it directly via USB cable. You can wire it to your network via Gigabit Ethernet cable or you can set it up over dual-band Wi-Fi, either 2.4GHz or 5GHz which is great if you have many Wi-Fi devices on your network. There is also a front USB port.

    Printing Performance:

I was impressed how quickly the printer wakes-up and is ready to print, almost instantly. I'm used to laser printers taking a while to warm-up before the first page comes out. It's rare that in such a home-office friendly package, it also prints double-sided (duplex), which is just as fast as printing single-sided with the added advantage of saving paper. On average I got about 20 pages per minute in mixed black and white, color and duplex modes. Print quality is crisp and color reproduction is quite accurate to the naked eye.

    HP Smart App for Android:

I was really excited to very easily be able to print directly from my smart phone. Once you install the App it will prompt for additional HP Driver software which is also freely downloadable from the Play Store. The app gives you many options to print documents, photos, scan, copy, etc. I chose to print a photo from my local Gallery, though it gave me an option to print from Google Photos or Amazon Photos, if you have those Apps installed. Even though I did not use photo quality paper, the images and colors still came out really good, just not as shiny as it would be on photo paper.

    Scanning/Copying:

Tested a simple document scan from my PC and again it was very intuitive, lots of options as to what file format to save the scan to PDF, JPG, and many other popular formats, or directly to email.

    Touchscreen LCD:

There is a 2.7" tilt-able color LCD screen that is very intuitive and easy to navigate for settings and to manage the core functions of printing, scanning, copying or faxing.

Overall this is an excellent printer, versatile and very well built. It is heavy and larger than your typical home inkjet printers of basic B&W laser printers, but that's to be expected for such a feature-rich workhorse. Make sure you check the dimensions before you buy one. It fits well in my home office furnished with matching Ikea furniture and custom built white PC tower :-)

    Wasn't easy to set up.

The directions for installing this printer are flawed. It shows and asks you to go to the home screen, but gives you no directions on how to get there. The first screen displayed is a default settings screen. Being a NON-Tech person, I had no idea what to do. I did love HP Technical Dept. It did take the lady an hour to help walk me through, how to set up, but it works great!!! Plus the HP Technical Dept. followed up with me about a week later, to make sure the printer was still working, & if I had any other questions, or concerns. Love HP!!! Some plastic parts on machine are a little flimsy.

Easy Set up and Feature Packed w Duplex Printing!

The setup was extremely easy! The printer already had the ink installed and it was only a matter of connecting the ethernet cable and adding a network printer. The setting and options are almost overwhelming but it gets narrowed as you pick a connection and configuration.

The print quality is very crisp and clear as is the scanning quality. Oddly enough the feature that blew me away was the copy function! I made a copy of a color photo-quality image and the copier made a beautiful copy with minor issues. There was a very slight loss of color gradiation in a very few and very hard to spot areas. The color copy was very very good. I make copies pretty frequently and even tho i do not make copies of photos i do make color copies with various graphics on it and this all-in-one will not disappoint.

The 2.7 inch screen is a breeze to operate and navigate. There are way more options than you will ever use. it also has a nice feature of allowing you to print using already installed templates such as graphs/notebook, calendars..etc. The other nifty feature is the adjustable slot on the front of the printer which allows for printing on envelopes or specialty sized paper one at a time.

Truly a powerhouse all-in-one that has a small footprint considering the quality of the performance and the DUAL SIDED PRINTING!!

That's right it has automatic dual sided printing, it prints extremely fast and on both sides. No more flipping paper and mixing up the orientation...a great printer A+.

The only issue is the app for mobile printing does work but it does take some getting used to but the connection was smooth using direct wifi link. The printer also offer dual band printing, 2.4/5.0, i use the 5Ghz and sending wireless jobs is much faster than my old 2.4 connection, it spools large jobs very quickly.

I ramble on but it is a very nice printer.

Be aware of the cost for replacement cartridges!

As far as quality and what this printer does, it is top notch. The print quality is excellent and the best way I can desribe it is smooth and vibrant.

Unboxing it you find a solid and heavy unit. Which is nice and gives it a high quality feel. Setup is easy and hooked up to my wifi network easily. Instead of the usual software drivers that are simply downloaded, you have to download the HP Smart app, at least on my MacBook. Some might consider this a negative, but the app isn’t that bad, and it does make scanning a lot easier.

Also, it was nice, and an unexpected surprise, not having the printer wanting to waste ink printing a "calibration" page.

The touchscreen controls works well, but it is a bit small. I had to be extra careful typing in my wifi network info as the buttons are so tiny.

The single sheet feeder is a small feature but very welcome. I print a lot of labels and its so nice just slipping one in right before I have to print one versus messing with the paper tray when I don’t want to just use the regular paper.

The scanner is also top notch. I scanned in a bunch of 4x6 pictures and the scan quality is excellent, and even if you don’t like having to download an app to use the printer, it’s worth having for how easy it makes scanning. The document feeder makes it even better. I was able to place a stack of pictures on it and it pulled them in and scanned them all. The app then lets you make any edits needed one by one, and when you’re ready to save it creates individual files for each photo and puts them in a single folder. Before this I had a dedicated scanner and had to do one picture at a time. I can’t tell you how amazing this is for me and a HUGE timesaver!

    Now for the bad parts.

The light on the power button. This may be nitpicky for some, but it’s a major annoyance for me. When the printer goes into sleep/standby mode, the light on the power button starts blinking. If the printer isn’t within eyesight this isn’t a problem, but where it is in my office I can’t help but see it, and it’s not only annoying but extremely distracting when I’m trying to work. I ended up having to get a piece of electrical tape to cover it, which doesn’t exactly look very good or professional. It would be nice if there was a setting to disable the blinking when in standby.

And for my final issue. This is the first laser jet printer I’ve owned that uses toner cartridges. These cartridges are EXPENSIVE! Make sure you factor that in. As of the time I’m writing this review, the full set of 4 cartridges (black, cyan, yellow, magenta) cost over $280!! That’s more than 60% of the price for this entire printer! It’s almost better to just buy a whole new printer once you’ve used up all the cartridges. If you don’t use the color ones much it won’t be as big of a deal, and the black cartridge is supposed to yield about 1350 pages, so the sticker shock won’t be as bad if all you need is black.

Overall though, based on over a week of use, this is the best printer I’ve owned, and just the time it’s going to save me scanning pictures in makes up for some of the other costs of ownership.

    Bother does it again

I only buy Brother printers, they are the best on the market by far. I have owned HPs, Epson, etc. Brother has never missed a beat. The only thing that has not been resolved is Best Buy applying my points for this purchase. I have conatcted them 3 times and it still doesnt show

Why didn't I buy this in the first place?!?!?

Tired of constantly running out of injet ink only using my printer once in a while. Seemed like everytime I wanted to print, I was out of ink and the printer was discontinued so no ink near home.

Finally broke down and bought this, a real printer!!

It works when I ask it too, and very pleased.

I figure it's office grade so less likely the refill, when I need , will be hard to find.

Probably could have bought two of these just from all the injet printers and ink I bought over the years.

    Always brother printers!

Forget HP and cannon and all the nonsense of injury. Get a brother laser and you will have no more printer headaches. Also just found out it has lifetime technical support. This is my third brother but not because I've replaced any but because I need more. My first one is still flawless after 10 years.

    Long Lasting

This is one of the easiest and best color laser printers that I have found. Plug and play. It's excellent with Mac users and Microsoft. The toners are long lasting, scanning, and duplex everything make this very useful in the office or at home. Tons of functions I only wish they made this EXACT printer without FAX

    Purchase it!

I ordered this printer for myself and liked it so well I ended up purchasing three more for my employees. It is a great printer for the price and the quality is excellent. I would highly recommend, cheaper to replace these than it is to fix them anymore.

Good printer for a small office.

Our small office has been using the printer for a month now and no real issues. Easy set up but we notice that there is a long delay for the printer to process the data before it actually prints. Printing quality is excellent.

This printer does a great job. The only issue is it prints slow. If you need to speed look elsewhere. Other then that, scan well and print quality is excellent

Ozone smell is stronger than others in smaller offices

Scan to email only works with Outlook

Scan to OCR as an Excel is not compatible with Office 2016

Scan to OCR doesn’t offer option for Word

Printer technology hasn’t seemed to have changed as fast as the rest of the tech industry but there have been improvements. The most significant improvement has been in the price for what you get. The Brother MFC-L3770CDW is a lot of printer for a very reasonable price. It offers dual sided color LED printing, scanning, and faxing.

LED technology is the latest in printers. LED printers are supposed to offer the print quality of laser but with a cheaper price, higher reliability, and less power required. The MFC-L3770CDW is an LED printer and certainly offers a competitive price and should offer higher reliability. A bonus is that warm up time is much shorter than most laser printers. Even from sleep, the printer can start printing within 14 seconds from startup, but it feels quicker as it almost seems like immediately after you press print it is warming up where others usually have long pause first. Besides being quick to start, it is also very quiet. Prints are overall sharp but not quiet as vibrant as the latest generation of laser printers. Blacks have a very slight blue/purple hue and the print has a more matt finish like older color laser printers. Brother does offer an advanced color calibration option if needed. Overall print quality is very good considering the price and feature set. Most people wouldn’t recognize the difference unless a printout from a much more expensive laser printer was placed next to it. Like laser printers, this printer isn’t well suited to photo printing but can product nice looking presentations and flyers.

It’s worth noting that if you have a smaller room you would like to keep this in you should make sure the room has adequate ventilation. If left in a closed 15x15 room overnight, you will notice a pretty strong odor of what smells like ozone. It’s hard to say if it is truly ozone, like what laser printers emit, but if it is it can cause health issues over time. Regardless, the smell is strong if not kept ventilated.

For a small package this MFC packs a lot of features. It offers all the standard features of a multi-function printer but adds cloud functionality and compatibility with smartphones and tablets. There are many online enabled features including OneDrive, Google Drive, Box, and Dropbox integration to name a few. Not only does it offer printing support for Mac OS but Linux as well.

With this cloud integration you can reduce the amount of prints needed as well as keep things more organized. Want to send a fax of a document you have on a computer or mobile device. No problem. Either option is covered. You send it to the MFC and it gets sent out without the need to print, scan, and fax. Want to keep your faxes organized and not waste resources on junk faxes? Just set it to fax to email or better yet, to cloud. When you have it scan to cloud it will store them in a folder in your cloud storage and notify you via email once finished. No more misprints, lost prints, or confidential information sitting on the printer waiting to be picked up. If you prefer to keep incoming faxes more local but don’t want to print them directly there is also a fax to pc option. Faxes will be forwarded and stored on a local computer of your choice for later retrieval. If the computer gets turned off for some reason the MFC has memory to store faxes until the computer is turned back on at which point it will immediately transfer the waiting faxes.

It is unusual to find a printer, let alone a multi-function device, with so much versatility in printing options. You don’t even need a computer to use it. You can print and scan using the Brother iPrint&Scan app for Android and iOS. The options available continue in Windows where on Windows 10 you can just have Windows 10 automatically detect and install the basic drivers or manually download the complete suite from Brother’s website to include PaperPort to organize your scanned documents.

This still does not describe all the features and options it has. This might sound intimidating, but Brother has managed to keep it simple first. You aren’t forced into the advanced features. You can leave everything default and it will work well as it. If you want to dig into more advanced features you don’t have to navigate through a large panel of buttons. Included is an integrated touchscreen display which only shows the relevant features for what you are trying to do. It really helps keep things simple for as much as it can do.

Besides compatibility with virtually any device and a competitive price, Brother offers a unique perk. Most printers only come with support in regard to factory defects. Brother not only offers the industry standard 1-year warranty against defects but also offers phone, chat, and email support for the life of your printer. If you are looking for an all-around versatile device for your home office or small office, the Brother MFC-L3770CDW is a very compelling choice you should consider.

Full Featured Printer For Home / Office Set-Up

The Brother MFC-L3770CDW Wireless Color All-In-One Printer is my multi-functional, home office, productivity assistant. Since I generate approximately 1,500 printed pages of construction, inspection reports a month I looked forward to setting this printer up and running it through my paces. What excited me the most was the two-sided printing feature, which would cut my printed reports in half. The two-sided printing not only reduces my paper use, but is easier for the viewer to read. My reports, which are read by architects, engineers, and building owners are much more condensed and professional looking now . WooHoo!

Out of the box this printer weighs approximately 54 pounds and is on the heavy side to lift and move. So, be sure to have some help if needed. Although the printer is hefty it does not take a large footprint for installation. The dimensions are approximately 16 inches wide by 16 inches high and 20 inches deep. It fit perfectly in the location of my old printer. It took me approximately one and a half hours to unpack and hook up the printer. The Quick Setup Guide was most helpful in getting the printer unpacked and running. This Brother printer includes a Quick Setup Guide, CD-ROM Installer with Drivers and Software, Power Cord, telephone line cord for FAX connection, and starter set of 4 Toners with Drum Unit Set. Once the AC power was 'ON' I used the LCD touchscreen at the front and top of the printer to connect to my Wi-Fi network. I activated the CD-ROM, Installer for Drivers and Utilities, on my computer, which 'found' the unit and I made it my default printer. I was then ready to print.

Over the past two weeks of daily use I have grown to love this printer. It is easy to operate and produces laser-sharp printed documents in color, and, or black print. I registered my printer at the Brother Support website and also downloaded the Online Users Guide, which is more comprehensive in detail to include drawings and illustrations. It is very helpful and convenient to to look up the myriad of feature settings and operations. I am not going to list all of the features and specifications of this Brother MFC-L3770CDW, but I will list the ones I think set this printer above all the rest. You can see all the features and specs at the Best Buy product website.

Brother MFC-L3770CDW Features I Really Like:

    * Two-Sided Printing. You can activate this setting in 'Printer Properties' when you are actually ready to print out a document. You can select either automatic or manual printing.

    * Bright LCD Touchscreen. Allows me to quickly select a function, Fax, Scan, Copy, or 'Secure' Print, and, or, other settings. It also gives me the status of each of my toners' supply. It has a Tool icon, which allows me to set the brightness of the LCD touchscreen, general settings for FAX Scan, Copy, or Print. You can use either the LCD touchscreen or included software on your computer to change and adjust any settings or functions of this printer.

    * Generously Sized Main Paper Tray. Stores up to 250 sheets of quality, 20 lb plain paper. The Multi-Purpose Tray stores up to 30 sheets of 20 lb plain paper and the Automatic Document Feeder holds up to 50 sheets of 20 lb plain paper.

    * Fast Print Speeds. Up to 25 PPM in both Monochrome or Color. For two-sided printing this Brother will handle up to 4 sheets a minute – my new favorite kind of printing job.

    * Optional Connections to Printer. I can connect all my devices through the built-in wireless, Wi-Fi Direct, or connect my laptop or phone via USB. Also have used my Flash Drive through the USB port to print directly to this Brother printer. I choose the document(s) I want to print through the USB Icon on the Home Menu of the LCD touchscreen. It reads the documents off of my Flash Drive.

    * Quiet Printing, Scanning, and Copying. For all the print speed and work this printer does it is amazing how quiet it actually is.

    * Laser Quality Print and Copying. The text is sharp and smudge-free in monochrome and, or in color. However, printing out pictures is not high quality. This is not a photo printer, but the image quality is adequate for my field photo documentation.

    * Print-from and scan-to popular cloud apps directly from the 3.7" color touchscreen including Dropbox, Google Drive, Evernote, OneNote, OneDrive, and Box.

    * The Manual Feed Slot accommodates printing on card stock, envelopes, photo paper and more.

    * Create Shortcuts on the LCD touchscreen of frequently used functions. I created a two-sided printing shortcut.

    * Print and scan without connecting to your local Wi-Fi network by using the NFC “touch to connect” Icon on the front of the printer to the right of the paper output tray.

    * iPrint&Scan App for remote printing on mobile devices is available in IOS at the Apple Store and Android at Google Play Store. You can check the status of the printer, toner, and print or scan remotely through various cloud services. From the Brother Support website you can download the Mobile Print/Scan Guide for Brother iPrint&Scan App for both Apple and Android. This is an extremely helpful Guide, which explains in detail all of the functions you can perform using the iPrint&Scan App on your mobile devices. It was a 'must' for me.

    * One Year Warranty and free online, call or live chat support for the life of this product.

The Brother MFC-L3770CDW Wireless Color All-In-One Printer is a beast of a workhorse for me. When I am out of town on inspections I can remotely print out all of my notes and observations to my home office printer for later review. YooHoo! This printer allows me to make as many copies of my reports as I need quickly and cost effectively too. I highly recommend the purchase of this printer, especially if you require a high volume of printing on a monthly basis.

    Great High-Volume Choice

This Brother all-in-one, or multi-function printer is a color laser printer (uses toner cartridges rather than ink cartridges), a flat-bed scanner, color copier, and fax machine. The printer has one paper tray that will hold up to legal size paper and four toner cartridges, black, cyan, magenta, and yellow. There is also a fold down door on the front of the machine revealing the multi-purpose tray, used to load specialty paper such as envelopes. The printer is Wi-Fi capable, AirPrint compatible and can use Near Field Communication from mobile devices. There is a front USB port enabling you to print directly from a USB drive (or scan a document and save it directly to the drive), but there is not an SD card slot. The printer is not intended to print photos (I believe this is a characteristic of all color laser printers), but the scanner function can scan photographs.

The printer arrived in a box 24” x 20” x 22” high, and it is quite hefty meaning it likely will not fit into the trunk of most sedans. The printer unpacked easy enough if you don’t have any lifting restrictions. For our purposes at home, I had to connect only the AC power cable – if we wanted fax capability, I would also have to connect a phone line. The power cord is the typical AC-cable with a plug on both ends that has a standard female end that connects to the printer. A phone cable is included too, along with a CD-ROM of drivers and other software, and rudimentary set-up and reference instructions. A detailed user guide is available on Brother’s web site along with downloadable drivers and software if your computer(s) no longer has an optical drive. It does not come with an Ethernet cable if you plan on connecting the printer in that fashion.

Set up was quick and trouble free and I had no issues with our Windows 10, Mac OS, and iOS devices all being able to connect and print. Since the printer is connected to our Wi-Fi network, the date and time set themselves automatically.

This model uses a combination of buttons and a color touchscreen to control the printer. The touchscreen is very easy to use with good response, clear graphics and text prompts when needed. The product description states that the paper tray will hold up to 250 sheets of paper. It would have been nice if a whole ream of paper could fit in the tray at one time to avoid finding a home for the partial ream until the printer needs more paper loaded into it. It appears there are two toner cartridge sizes, TN-223 (standard yield) and TN-227 (high yield), and as with most things in life, the larger “package” is a much better buy when comparing cost per page to print.

Depending on the type of print job you are attempting (1-sided or 2-sided) and the type of paper being used (plain, glossy, legal, etc), there are specifics on which tray to use, settings that need to be changed, quantity of paper that can be loaded, and orientation if using preprinted paper that make referring to the full user manual mandatory (which is 675 pages long, and only one language). The printer allows you to set a variety of “shortcuts” for differing types of print jobs so that you don’t have to manually set different parameters every time you need to change types of jobs.

At home we have previously had only ink jet printers since 1997 as we are not high print-volume users. I have had a lot of experience with laser printers through work since my profession utilizes printers virtually all day. This Brother printer exhibits the same features and initial quality as any of the big name brands usually seen in office environments. That being said, I think this printer is probably too sophisticated for the needs of the average home user (myself included). Speed, print quality and unobtrusive noise are all outstanding in my opinion and make the MFC-L3770CDW printer one that I doubt any home office or small business user would be disappointed with.

Awesome features but a bit bulky and slow

Last week I received the Brother MFC-L3770CDW Color laser printer for my home office. I have used several other MFC (multi-function color) printers before – both Laser and Ink Jet, and was excited to give this one a try as I’ve been having scanning-to-pc connectivity issues with another popular brand recently.

The first thing you notice is the size and weight of this unit. It weighs in at 54 lbs. and is roughly a 16”x20”x16” cube. You’ll need ample space and a study table or counter top to place this machine.

Setup was a smooth and easy. Unpack, remove all the shipping tape and tabs, install the toner, attach to the wireless network and BOOM – you’re printing. Mine detected a software update within the first 5 minutes and quickly downloaded/installed it. The 3.7” LCD display is intuitive and easy to use – and also informed me of that software update.

I installed the full Brother Utilities software on my desktop computer from the freshly downloaded nearly 500MB file and let everything be setup as default. The printer has NFC features for the Android phones, but the iPhone I have doesn’t support that. Never fear – the AirPrint capabilities worked flawlessly – and allowed me to print out pictures with no trouble at all!

A couple things I really like about the printer include:

    1. A large paper source tray with the ability to handle Legal paper as well

    2. The multi-sheet document feeder on top – which has worked well with my test stack of 20 pages – some with folds in them. It is able to handle 50 pages at a time!

    3. The Duplex scanning features – and the scan to PC worked great on the first attempt – a big plus as compared to other MFC’s I’ve used in the past.

    4. The 30 sheet multi-purpose paper tray – works great for using special paper without having to switch stock out of the normal 250 sheet paper tray.

    5. To copy or scan pages from a book or magazine, the document feeder lifts up about an inch or so to accommodate the thickness of the object – a nice feature!

A couple things that surprised me about the printer:

    1. It seems a bit slow to start printing – usually between 10-15 seconds. I know that doesn’t seem long - but when I hit the print button I want the printer to start making noises and printing right away.

    2. I printed the same color document test page on this Brother MFC Laser device and also to my own MFC Inkjet Printer. Yes I’m aware that it is not a true comparison – but I feel the Ink Jet printer did a better job rendering the colors and took less time overall for what it’s worth.

Overall – this is an excellent MFC device that will work well in a home office or small office with multiple users. The toner cartridges are rated at over 1000 pages each – and are individually replaced as needed. It’s very quiet and with the duplex features, automatic document feeders and integration with most major cloud document servers – you can’t go wrong. I gave 4 stars vs 5 only due to the relatively slower start-print time and slightly less distinct prints as compared to my MFC ink-jet.

So glad I "canned" my inkjet...

They say in "all tests" that lasers are more costly to operate (per page printed) than an inkjet.

Well... I don't print that many pages, or rather, there is definitely a lot of time in between printing - and guess what? The nozzles on my inkjet plugs up, printouts are streaked, "weak in print (missing parts of letters and numbers)", colors wrong due to the different colors plug up differently.

Remedy: "clean the nozzles, print test page".

Now, THAT is costly!!! The amount of ink used up when "cleaning" the nozzles!

BTW - this has happened on several inkjets I have owned, made by several different manufacturers. I have always used OEM ink, so no "cheap knock-off" cartridges. This is the fourth [inkjet] printer now that I have given up on. Time and patience...

    ===============================

Well, finally, I did some research and found this printer.

Have not owned it for very long, but everything works, and it works great:

+Pulls the paper straight (yes, that is important)

    +Does duplex without jamming

+Handles card stock (for business cards) really well - they came out centered and with really crisp text down to 6 pt. font! And same there - it pulls in the card stock STRAIGHT from the manual slot without slippage.

+Scanning, copying... no complaints. Very easy to use, scan and mail to your computer.

    (Not using the fax…)

+Software suite installed easily - I had no issues with drivers or any other aspect of getting it up and running - even on my work laptop, which is a total disaster otherwise, due to our "friendly corporate I.T.'s" policies and "security measures".

    Some negatives:

-It weighs a lot. Be careful lifting and moving it.

-Only one bin for paper, so you can't have a second source for alternative paper - so manual switching or feeding through the manual slot is what you have to do.

    Cost of ownership:

To be determined. But it is ALWAYS ready, starts up fast and it prints clean, crisp pages. My time and my patience is hard to put a price on, and here it really delivers! Since I am not wasting ink on "cleaning" I really don't expect that my true cost per page will be worse than on the [now discarded] inkjet printers.

    Just buy it…

    Frustrating Print Quality Issues

I trust this is not a frequent issue based on the reviews I read prior to purchase, but we are having print quality issues (every page has about 10 broad shadow zones running horizontally across the page . . . the spacing of the "shadow zones" is perfectly uniform, so it must obviously be a problem with one or more of the drums). This unit has NOT been used much at all, which makes it particularly disappointing (plus it's 3 weeks beyond the return period since I didn't investigate/troubleshoot promptly--a dumb move on my part). The page is still easily readable, but the print issue is extremely obvious. I ran through some troubleshooting tips via the Brother website, but it did not help.

I purchased this unit for home use based on reviews PLUS our positive experience with Brother products at work, but am very disappointed so far. I will happily update the rating if Brother or BB can fix this for me. $400+ tax and it can't produce a nice print. Very frustrating.

    Nice product

Really nice product for a reasonable price. I got this one printer for my home office. It came fully assembled and initial setup steps were very easy and the user manual was very detailed. The print quality is good. I just got this one a while ago so can't really comment on the Toner and cartridge life, but I heard it's pretty good too.

Can't get rid of black streaks & smudges

I have been fighting black smudges and streaks since the day I got it home. Brother has sent me a complete new printer and a new toner, which helped for a couple weeks and then started again. None of the cleaning or maintenance procedures work or even help. I just opened a third support incident, and if this can't be fixed permanently I will be demanding a refund/return so I can buy another brand. I have only had this printer about 7 weeks!

Nice except a Windows 10 issue

Everything works fine until I tried Windows 10 wireless direct printing bypassing WiFi router connection. I could use wireless direct printing on my Windows 8 PC, but it was impossible for me to do the same thing on my new Windows 10 PC. I guess the driver was made only for Windows 8, and the same driver may not work for Windows 10. Except this tiny issue, everything is fine. Through WiFi, I can print from iPhone, iPad, Windows 8/10 PCs.

    Improvement over Ink Jet

First off a huge improvement over ink jet. So annoyed when starting a ink jet after sat for a while. Sounds like a cat hacking up a hair ball and takes over 3.5 minutes before page printed. Annoying as can be. The ink jet shoots out print in like 3 seconds. It is out before I can walk to printer.

Only reason I gave 4 stars is that after loading and linking to wifi network, I had a power outage for over 5 hours. It did not remember the settings had to do again. A glitch, not sure. Just hope it does not do that each time extended power out.

Otherwise very happy with this printer.

    Very good b&w LaserJet printer.

When it comes to printers UP is the king. Specially LaserJet. I still have a color nnetwork LaserJet one I purchased 12 years ago with the trial cartridges that came with it. The black is finally low after all this time. Now the newer ones have less yeald per cartridge then the older models but they are worth every penny. LaserJet tones is powder and you don't have to worry about cartridges drying out like the inkjet. This all in one is perfect for home use and black & white is good enough these days. No need to print pictures since you can send to shutterfly or others for pennies to be printed and shipped to anyone.

    Great copy/print/email, avg scan, affordable

Print Quality (4.5 out of 5): Great print quality even with small font size. Produces good color or grey scale photos, and good presentation printouts. Print speed is as specified (around 22 ppm for black), but when I tried to print a large report with a couple of hundred pages, the device struggled a lot to finish the job. After every 30/40 pages the machine takes rest for 2-4 minutes to cool down. This is not a heavy-duty printer, and it is for home use only.

Print Cost (4.5 out of 5): Similar models of Brother printer costs less in printing, but this canon device is not bad. The standard black toner costs around 4c per page while the high yield toner can cost less than 2.5c per page in eco mode. The standard black toner that came with the printer was able to print 1700+ pages, and a new high yield toner cartridge (Canon 054h XL black) that I purchased later was able to print 3500+ pages in eco mode. It is annoying that the printer shows low ink warning once ink level gets below 50%, and with this warning I was able to print around 1500 more pages full of text in eco mode. The warning simply does not make any sense. So, forget about the warning and keep printing.

Scan (3 out of 5): With max resolution of 600X600, the scan quality is not impressive- both with the flat-bed scanner or with the auto document feeder (ADF). I was able to set the resolution to 1200X600 from the remote manager, but scan quality did not improve much. Scanned fonts come out dull and not sharp. Good thing- the auto feeder can hold 50 sheets (letter or legal) and can scan both sides in a single pass with a good speed. It is okay for day to day scanning, but for sensitive official documents I still prefer some scanner app installed on my android phone. Unlike these apps, the scanning software included with this Canon printer does not have any post-processing intelligence. Lastly, the flat-bed scanner portion is unnecessarily 3 inches thick (compared to HP MFP M428fwd or M283fdw)- making the device look large on my desk.

Copy (5 out of 5): Fast and crisp print, both from flat-bed scanner or from ADF. ADF can print both sides in single pass pretty fast. ID card copying is also good.

Email, Fax (4 out of 5): It’s a relief that hard copies can directly go into your email directly from the printer. But the setup process is not easy, and may require an expert hand. I haven’t tried fax.

Setup and Connectivity (4 out of 5): Software and Wi-Fi setup are straight forward. Printer quickly wakes up from sleep once command is sent to printer through Wi-Fi. The remote manager is a great help, with which you can use your web browser from your computer to remotely monitor ink levels, see usage logs (for print, scan, mail or fax), and control all different settings without touching the printer itself. That’s something cool!

Touch Display (3 out of 5): LCD touch screen is not sensitive, most of the time I have to touch twice or press hard for the same action, the user interface on the LCD screen is not well-organized, and some of the very common settings are not readily available. However, you can customize some of it from remote manager.

Overall (4 out of 5): With less than 300$ budget, if you are looking for professional quality printing in black, decent color print, Wi-Fi and email connectivity, and average scan quality- everything of office in a single home device, you should get this. I am happy with the purchase.

    Nice All-In-One Printer/Copier

Found I needed to replace an old Brother Color Laser Printer I had for over 10 years... it apparently didn't like the newest Windows 10 update. Besides, it was time.

I have used a B/W Canon All-In-One recently and really liked it, so I decided to buy the MF 644... primarily because it fits in the Printer slide out cabinet in my desk. Tight, but it fits.

Out of the box set-up was easy. But the driver set-up is not real intuitive so you really need to follow the instructions closely. After I had the printer up and running (USB connection to my desktop) I set up the wireless connections to my laptop and handheld devices. I found downloading the Canon Printer app to my phone and tablet made connection hassle free. Again... follow the instructions.

The printer is not fast but fast enough for home office use. The copy function was easy and the copies were clear and neat. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. Having a fully functional "All-in-One" office machine that fits my needs and my "space" is nice.

The added bonus was getting a price match and saved $80.

Thanks Best Buy for taking care of that.

    Great Printer

Needed to replace our inkjet printer. Not having to print often lead to clogged print heads and wasting ink doing nozzle checks and realigning.

Due to the affordable prices of laser printers decided to get the Canon imageClass. Set up was easy when following instructions. Downloaded the Canon Business Print app for greater control and more printing options when printing from an iPad. App works well when scanning documents to store in iCloud. Finally able to scan and shred hard copies of our documents on file. The document feeder works great and is worth the extra money. Also must mention, though I haven’t done extensive tests, initially print quality appears to be great. Says a lot coming from a picky graphic designer.

A few minor issues: sometimes takes a couple tries to get iPad to connect to printer when in sleep mode. Prints a little slower than expected but still way faster than inkjet. Seems to handle heavy weight paper and labels okay.

Overall very happy with our purchase. If you’re on the fence, I would suggest you get it.

Exactly what I wanted for home use

I was tired of messing with the printer every time I needed to print something. We don't use the printer very often, but when I do, I need it to work. We have been through about 4 ink jet printers over the years and many $ on cartridges. Every time I would print, I would have to re-print because the heads needed cleaned or something else was wrong. So far with this Laser, it has not had any issues.

With the kids in school, I know in the coming years they will be using it more and more. I wanted something that could copy and scan. This seems to be a great home solution.

Excellent product. Works great. Tried to get Brothers as that is what we have in the office, but they weren't available. These were similar. They are better than the Brother.

    Great printer.

I love the printer. It is a bit heavy and was awkward for a senior to lift. The color is more natural and accurate than my HP laser jet pro MFP M377dw and it scans on both sides of the sheet with one pass.

    Great printer, horrible software

Great printer- I've only had it a few days but I'm writing because I was having major problems- the formatting of my prints were all wrong. I could not get the formatting of the pages right: it always wanted to print 2x the pages (mostly blank pages), and customizing options for especially a scan would freeze HP Smart and whatever app I was working in. If you buy this printer, UNINSTALL HP SMART, and all of your problems will be solved. I am honestly angry at HP because I feel tricked into installing a bloated application on my computer that advertises buying more HP products while freezing up my computer.

    ---- Review ----

    Design:

While the HP Neverstop is no breakthrough in terms of design, it looks great in my home, and there are a few things that deserve to be pointed out. First, the setup was surprisingly simple. It is all done through the HP Smart App, which has a step by step guide to get the printer added to your Wi-Fi network. Within just a couple of minutes, I had the printer setup on both my laptop and smartphone. Second, the toner level is displayed on the front of the printer. Out of the box, the printer includes toner that can last an estimated 5,000 pages before a reload is needed. When the time comes to do the reload, you can purchase a toner reload kit and use it to reload the toner, which takes a few seconds. I like that this printer is cartridge-free. Third, this printer is compact. Multifunction laser printers can be quite large, but not the HP Neverstop. It is one of the most compact printers I have seen on the market, and it fits well on my desk. Overall, I think this is a well-designed printer. The design and easy setup left me with a very positive first impression.

    Features & Performance:

I was surprised by how quickly and quietly the HP Neverstop prints pages at such high quality. On average, it prints about 21 pages per minute. The text is crisp and legible. Images look good, but this printer is not designed for high-quality image and photo printing. One drawback is that it only prints in black in white, but since my primary use for this printer is to print text documents it works well for my needs. With the HP Smart App, printing, scanning, copying and other tasks can be done from just about anywhere. I have found the app to be reliable and easy to use. There is a slight delay when printing wirelessly compared to printing from a computer that is hard-wired into the printer, but I think the convenience that wireless connectivity provides makes up for that delay. Aside from no color printing, this printer has all the features I was looking for in a printer.

    Verdict:

The HP Neverstop accomplishes printing tasks quickly and quietly. Everything from initial setup to using all of its features is user friendly. It is versatile, reliable and cost-efficient. The HP Neverstop truly never stops providing for my printer needs, and I would recommend it to anyone in the market for a multifunction black and white laser printer.

HP makes another solid printer for the win

This HP printer feels like a solid and well-made unit that provides a great business like look while sitting in my home office. I unboxed this and had it up and running within a short time. HP offers an app that I would highly recommend because it helps to streamline the setup and daily usage of the printer. This printer has a nice and compact footprint for its laser ability and was actually a bit smaller than my previous HP ink printer.

This is my first laser printer at home, and I am truly impressed. Having the 1 toner cartridge that comes with this and being able to get 5000 pages of printouts from it is something I’m looking forward to. I have always dreaded having to pay for ink cartridges with previous printers and they were never affordable for me. This printer has been super-efficient for my home office and personal family usage for school at home. This HP printer can zip through and pump out sheet after sheet of printouts in a matter of seconds. The scanning and copy functions work seamlessly as well.

I have an iPhone XR and the HP Smart App works well on it. Being able to print photos and documents from my device with the app is quick and efficient. From my laptop or tablet I can easily print on Wi-Fi as well and this feature makes my life so much easier. Not having to be hardwired to a printer for business like print quality is amazing. I love having this printer for its premium laser printing and its speed. I have not felt slowed down with productivity or with Wi-Fi printing issues. This HP printer is excellent so far and I am impressed.

    Impressive!

First things first, I am an HP (printers/copiers) guy. I have tried other brands and it seems I always drift back to HP. When I received the Neverstop and saw the size of the box it came in, my initial impression was it will never sit on the desk, it will be to BIG! Boy was I wrong. It fits like a hand to a glove, as the old saying goes, “don’t judge a book by its cover” applies to the Neverstop printer. And once I unpackaged it, the first thing I noticed was the color, its aesthetically pleasing. I was very impressed.

Do yourself a favor and download the HP Smart App before you remove it from the box. (I didn’t). The app setup is simple, as is the pairing of the Neverstop. In literally 5 minutes I had it connected to all my devices, laptop, iPad, iPhone 7+, (even my son’s Surface Pro). It is so SIMPLE!

    Pros:

Layout - I love how the Neverstop is laid out, HP engineering did a fantastic job. The toner level is on the front of the printer and is easy to see and read. The paper load is easy to get to. Everything is in the right place. (Thanks HP) Again, if you judge it by the box sitting on the shelf, you may think it’s going to be HUGE, its not, its probably the sleekest, compact laser printer I’ve seen. The Neverstop looks like a midget compared to the laser printer at our office. I love the color, its a vibrant white, and it blends in so well with our other furniture in our home office.

    Toner:

The box and instructions say right out of the box you can print 5,000 pages, before needing new toner. This printer doesn’t have a cartridge, it uses a reload kit that you purchase, and its not like other printers that you wear gloves to keep from getting toner everywhere. Its simple, precise, and again, HP put it in the “right spot”. Its easily accessible. Also, in the description on Best Buy for this printer, it specifically says, “Don't worry about toner - with the revolutionary HP Neverstop all-in-one laser printer 1202w, get up to 60% savings on toner every time you reload and up to 5,000 pages of toner right out of the box....”

    Noise:

It is surprisingly very quiet. I was printing a couple of pages (wirelessly) and had to go see if it was printing, it was that quiet. Yes you can hear the internal “workings” of the printer, but its not noisy at all.

    Printing:

The Neverstop is about average when it comes to printing. Its not as fast as the laser printer we have at our office, but for our home use its all that we need. The printing quality is very good, and in my opinion better than the laser jet at our office.

    Cons:

The only “complaint” that I have is this, NO COLOR PRINTING! For our home use, that is not a big deal to me, my wife prints a lot of recipes that she uses, and she wants color printing, my 16 year old son, at times needs color prints for school, most of my work is black and white. So as a personal preference, it doesn’t bother me, it is an issue for my spouse and son.

    Final verdict:

IMPRESSIVE! The Neverstop is an all around great printer. If you want a sleek, quiet, black & white printer, don’t hesitate, buy the Neverstop. You won’t be sorry.

    Slick New Laser Printer

This is one of HP's newest models of their Neverstop series. These models feature a new way to reload the toner. Rather than changing a complete cartridge, these models use a large syringe that is inserted into a special receptacle on the printer to quickly inject the toner into the existing cartridge/drum. It's supposed to be fast, easy, and reduce the carbon footprint on our landfills. ( I did not get to try that reload out yet.) And it can be done while the printer is actually printing which could be an advantage for busy offices where downtime is not practical.

The printer comes packaged in cardboard with 2 end pieces of Styrofoam within the box. Pretty much standard.

Instructions to get the machine up and running are good and straightforward. It includes the power cord, a USB cable, cartridge already installed with a FULL supply of toner for up to 5000 pages included. One just has to remove some packing tape, open the machine and pull out an orange handle from the cartridge. Close the cover, plug it in and it turns itself on.

You then add the HP Smart App to your mobile device (both Android and Apple supported) and go through a simple set up for your WiFI in your house. The app sets the printer by Bluetooth to your WiFi settings. The app discovers your printer and you are set to print from your mobile device. It really is quick and easy.

Once set up, you can print just about anything from your phone or tablet. I had a newer Win 10 HP laptop, and the HP Extra app was already loaded and ready to print wirelessly from that device.

I have found the machine can print from my Apple I Phone X quickly and easily. From the time the printer wakes up from a request to print to finished first page, just under 20 seconds!

The print looks great and it's very fast per page (21ppm per HP) The machine is relatively quiet while printing. After printing, the machine turns to standby in low power mode.

Pros: Less landfill waste, quick refills that are supposed to be less costly, 5000 pages of printing right out of the box, can PRINT, COPY, & SCAN, 21 pages per minute output, wireless printing, HP App also allows for scanning/printing on your mobile device, and a small footprint on your desk from this printer. The copier function is straightforward and allows multiple copies as well as enlarge and reduction capabilities. I was also able to scan from the printer to my I phone using the HP app. Raise the scan cover and the machine wakes up, lay down the original and close. Use the HP app on your mobile device to scan the image on to your phone and it works. There is an option to Mobile Fax from this point, but I did not have that set up.

Cons: No fax capabilities through landlines, Mobile Fax in App is a trial, HP print from anywhere is not supported.

Conclusion: I really like the size, speed, and ease this printer presents. WiFi connection seems stable and every time I have asked it to print Wirelessly it has performed with no glitches. The machine looks clean with sleek lines and is straightforward. I found it to be quiet and easy to operate. I think it would handle high volume printing needs with ease. Overall, its a winner!

I would recommend this device to a friend!

    Amazing printer/copy machine—with a small caveat

Overall— this is a beautiful office product. This is most definitely marketed to the small home business or small office environment as this model doesn’t include a feeder for a high volume business environment. It’s nonetheless a very aesthetically pleasing office product. The visual display window showing ink levels is a nice addition as other modern copiers require you to tap the screen and find those details under some setting window. It supports a number of features most offices would find helpful. A personal favorite is the scan from a phones camera. The resulting scan is quite good, almost as if it were scanned directly from the printers scan tray. I’ve attached an image of my scans, which I print out then use the scan feature.

But for the sake of transparency, some of the software features are available on a wide array of HP printers. They aren’t exclusive to this unit in particular.

Printing speed is quite fast, much faster than any typical consumer grade printer I’ve owned before. The quality of the prints (dpi) are excellent as well. From documents, to pictures, and abstract art while keeping in mind that it’s designed for document printing.

However it does lack a bit of imagination for lack of a better word (more on that below).

    Pros:

Relatively easy setup. Pairing to a mobile phone/tablet Android or iOS is extremely straight forward and just works as long as you’re on the same network.

WiFi direct makes things far simpler as long as you are within the printers range. Just connect to its SSID using the pin it prints when you hold the “continue” key for 3 seconds.

Solid construction, it seems to be built for the long road ahead.

In my estimations, it appears that this unit runs at a much lower cost per use over other copy machines. Toner cartridges for other machines cost between $80-$120 and print roughly the same pages as these. A refill for the Neverstop runs around $20 and the drum hovers around $100. If the drum lasts more than 4 refill cycles then you’ve definitely got a lower cost per use out of it.

Many available features for different applications (image attached).

High quality prints for every type of file.

    Beautifully lit up tactile buttons.

    Cons:

Unlike pairing with a mobile device, pairing with a pc was a hassle. Others mentioned problems or unable to pair. In my case, the only way I could pair was using the WiFi direct option. Attempting to connect through the WiFi network would return an offline or unknown status from the printer. Once it paired one time using the WiFi direct setup I was able to connect using the WiFi network.

The paper trey is the only part I find in the construction that is questionable. The clips are flimsy and it just feels like the design was poor. The trey itself wiggles slightly to the touch. In my opinion it should of been a one piece design with the cover being the only part that was detachable. (See below for a picture of the design)

Lastly, at this price point I’m surprised it wasn’t considered to include a light up display. The only section on the display that lights up are the buttons. Everything else from the buttons to the toner level indicator light up. Makes printing in a dark room almost impossible.

    Wireless Wonder

This handsome, versatile HP Neverstop Printer went from out of the box into document production within minutes. It is a multi-function black and white laser printer and copier, and scans photographs and documents in color to save to the cloud, your local computer, or to immediately email to your selected recipients. Every function is performed quickly and efficiently though the HP Smart App.

I was anxious to review this unit because of its potential cost savings on consumables. Most of my work printing is done in black and white from word processor documents and downloaded PDFs, and this HP easily cranks out crisp black and white pages to the tune of 21 per minute. Its toner cartridge boasts 5000 copies before it must be replenished. When it is time for replacement, you can order the kit straight from the Smart App. I like that feature, and very much look forward to the savings! HP promises big savings and simplicity of installation.

Scanning and copying is one page at a time. There is no document feeder, but if you are printing from a multiple page PDF or word processor document, you can select to print on both sides of the paper from the properties page of the app. Even though I made that selection, the document was not printed on both sides, and I could not get a different result using the windows system dialog. So, if two-sided printing is important to you, beware of that potential issue.

Instructions were sparse. Supplied diagrams showed how to unpack and physically prepare the unit for first use. After turning on the machine, and letting it cycle through the set-up process, I used the add printer dialog on my Windows 10 laptop to find the printer on the network. It found the printer and informed me that an app was available for the device, and all I had to do to get it installed was click on a link. I installed the app from the Windows store and added the cloud print feature which allowed me to print documents from my Chromebook as well. The next time I fired up a different Windows 10 machine on my home network, a dialog box popped up and offered to download and install the HP Smart App on that machine.

I was easily able to scan, save, print and email documents directly from the Smart App, which allows you to create commonly-used tasks, like emailing a scanned document to a specific person or persons or saving a document to the cloud, with click and go simplicity. The homepage of the app always shows the status of the toner, so that there will be no surprises when it is time to order the replenishment kit.

I expect this HP to be a time and money saver for my black and white printing needs and was surprised to find it could scan documents in color as well, albeit without document feeding capabilities. And the HP Smart App was great to quickly save or send documents to others and perform repeated tasks.

Need to leave paper door open to print!

After lots of shopping around, reading reviews, etc. I settled on this printer as having the best balance of size, features, and toner costs. Since getting it two months ago, I’ve scanned several items, and printed maybe 2 dozen pages. As such a low volume user, this Canon replaced a functional HP all-in-one inkjet that was wasting (expensive) ink cartridges because they kept drying out.

    PROs:

    - Print quality

    - higher scan resolution than many in its class

    - easy printing from an ipad. My wife can send a recipe from her ipad and will print double-sided if requested.

    CONs:

    - Weak WIFI setup documentation. I found other owners complaints about the setup instructions to be valid. The doc is poorly organized, vague in places, incomplete in others. Fortunately, a web search will find reviews and other articles with tips.

    - You have to leave the paper door open to print. Nowhere in ANY of the reviews I read (nor in the documentation) was this ever mentioned. Every home printer I’ve owned over the last 30 years has had the usual paper tray that you pull open, load, and close- but not this one. For a very low volume home user, this is an unexpected annoyance, to have to load paper every time I want to print. I don’t want to leave the printer sitting there all the time with the door open,, letting dust, pet hair, etc., into the internals.

Great Value, Easy Set-up, Highly Recommended.

Extremely great buy. We were so tired of ink jet problems and cartridge expense. I remembered our business used Laser printers. We rarely had any problems, printed way more pages, faster and cleaner than with our ink jets as well. And of course, ink cartridges are pricey. This Canon was the very best (price and features including new toner cartridge's) in the selection of all Laser multi purpose black and white laser printers we researched. It was a long search. Took a few days of comparison shopping, but turns out this one was as advertised. Set up in about 20 minutes, that's un-boxing to running to the first test print. We set it up with a cable, (not supplied) but it does have the Wi-Fi option. It has a really compact footprint, see photos.

Been printing a few weeks now, no problems, no adjustments or changes were necessary, software out of the box and set up from instructions pretty straight forward. Great Value, especially if you don't need color for everything you print. Plus we got it delivered in one day. Crazy. Scanned and saved effortlessly, and scanned our Id's and shot certificates perfectly. Super quiet too!!

Worth the Money if you Don't Need Fax/Color Print

We needed a printer and ordered the D570. The delivery was terrific. The PROS: The printer was easy to set up because my son is an IT specialist; however, my son informed me that it should be simple for everyone to set up. The D570 prints fast and on both sides and is wireless. The cost was reasonable. THE CONS: The D570 only prints in black and white and not color. Another con is that the D570 only prints, scans, and copy's; the D570 is not have fax capabilities.

I am So Happy I Bought this Printer!

In late August, my Ink Jet failed and I needed a new printer for the kids’ online school and my work from home. I couldn’t find any printers in Dallas for less than $500, but this one was in stock at BestBuy.com.

This has been a great buy for our family! We rarely need color printing and I was tired of buying so much Ink Jet ink — why does it take so much Magenta and Cyan to print Black & White documents anyway? This printer cost more up front, but I’ve almost broken even considering how much ink jet ink I would have needed to buy in 2 months.

We’ve printed tons of school homework assignments and the toner cartridge is still 80% full!

    Awesome!

First Canon laser and a satisfied customer.

I've always had HP lasers in the past. This is my only Canon and I'll say I'm pleased with it. I've printed about 400 pages (all duplexed) and the printer performed flawlessly. The print quality is excellent! No issues with the duplex mechanism. My requirements were decent speed, good print quality, minimum of 200 sheets in the tray, and duplex capability. Yes, the paper trays do stick out about 4 inches when open, but that isn't an issue for me or probably most people. The control panel is much more involved than I'm used to on the HP's. They only had 3 or 4 buttons total.

Great printer at a reasonable price.

I was looking for a small office laser printer. This canon was the best priced printer on the market.

    Pros:

It is reasonably compact. And don’t let the box distract you. It is compact.

The setup was very easy. I always have doubts about setting up a wireless printer, but this was flawless.

I was not looking for a scanner, but the fact that it has one, it is a nice feature to have as backup.

It ia very quick and extremely quiet. I think this is the quietest laser printer I’ve ever used.

    Cons:

The price of a toner is outrageous!!!!

    Perfect Vacation Home Printer

This looks to be a great summer vacation house printer. We have had terrible luck with inkjet printers at this location because they sit unused for 10 months out of the year. Each year I was needing to buy a new set of cartridges and got fed up with it.

i bought this B&W Canon laser printer to solve the issue. It is very basic but it does the job quite well. I have purchased several Canon ImageCLASS B&W MFPs over the past 15 years at various companies and have been very pleased with them. This is one is the most basic I have purchased as it does not have an ADF but in every other way, it works just as well as the others. I'm very pleased.

    Great printer for the office

The printer requires a wired connection either USB to computer or Ethernet cable directly to router and computer if using Ethernet. However, the all in one printer works as described and all of the features ( scan, print, copy, fax) work well and allow you to adjust settings such as the density of image and the amount of ink per print assignment ( ink save). Overall a good purchase that will most likely last a long time. One negative I did discover is that this particular canon model, Imageclass MF 236n, is a lower end model in the ImageClass series and so it really only does the basics there are not that many surprising features that you would see in newer printers today. Also if you have a windows 7 or higher you will have to go to Canon's website to download the drivers for the printer.

Recommend the M480 except for poor instructions

Doesn't default to automatic duplex printing and instructions don't tell you how to set this option on as default. Instead, defaults to manually duplexing. Once I figured it out, it works great - better than previous HP business laser duplex printer method. The M480 prints both sides at once, rather than mechanically turning over paper to print other side.

Instructions for updating firmware also lacking in sufficient detail for updating via USB slot.

Marked down review due to inadequate and sometimes misleading instructions. Otherwise, I'm very happy with performance so far.

On-line chat support not very helpful.

    Failed error code E020-01C0

Upon having received my MFD, powering on the printer came up with an error code. The first one was the scanner motor was stuck and was not able to be moved. After, a few power cycles, it worked. Another error code came up with E020-01C0. The tonor Y had an issue. A Canon tech came over and attempted to replace the part. After 3 failed attempts with the same error code, Canon had no idea on what to do. I had a few days left to return it back to BestBuy. I returned it ine day before my return window had expired because I was waiting for BestBuy to have more in stock online. Canon was never going to replace it and only change the entire board inside if they had to. Canon was not that helpfull even with a business account. BestBuy accepted my return with no hesitations. With these high end printers from Canon, I would rather go for another brand due to their lack of support.

    Good printer - poor support

The only thing I have against this product, is that there is a critical update that I can't find ANY information on how to install. The instructions make NO sense.

    Sold without scanner drivers developed.

Would've given it 5 stars, but HP decided to sell a new model printer without scanner drivers. Invested too many hours troubleshooting only for a service rep to find out that it doesn't have drivers. Only way to get scans out of it is to save to network folder. The PC plugin HP Smart doesn't see the scanner.
