Apple MacBook Pro 13.3-inch 500GB Intel Core i5 Dual-Core Laptop (MD101LL/A) Mid-2012 (Certified Refurbished) - Silver
Description

The design is not the only thing that makes the MacBook Pro a MacBook Pro. Fastest mobile processors and up to a 60 percent boost in graphics performance endow you with incredible power to do more than ever. Faster than ever. The MacBook Pro is also loaded with powerful new features, such as blazing fast Thunderbolt I/O technology, FaceTime HD camera, Multi-Touch trackpad, 802.11n wireless technology, long lasting battery and more, making a great notebook even greater. The 13-inch MacBook Pro model features 2.5GHz Intel Core i5, the fastest mobile dual-core processor available. With Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.6GHz, these processors bring more power to everything you do. And you can configure it to be even faster. The new integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 processor boosts performance by up to 60 percent. That extra power gives you a smoother, more fluid experience than before. It's still highly efficient, too, so you get long battery life when you're out and about. The Multi-Touch trackpad is the most natural way to interact with what's on your screen, and the smooth glass surface gives you plenty of room for gestures. Pinch to zoom in and out, swipe to flip through photos, rotate to adjust an image, and much more. The buttonless design lets you click anywhere. And if you're coming from a right-click world, you can right-click with two fingers or configure a right-click area on the trackpad. The more you use the Multi-Touch trackpad, the more you'll wonder how you ever did without it.

    Amazing laptop

For being “refurbished” it was like new. It had a tiny scratch and the cord obviously looked used, but for as long as I have had it now, it works amazing. Don’t look past but refurbed products, they’re usually Better and cheaper

    Great deal for newer MacBook!

I've been wanting to get a new MacBook without having to spend so much money, so I was happy when I found this. I was a little nervous about this purchase since it was pre-owned, but everything came in perfect condition! No hassle start up, and so far works great. The only down side is my opinion is that the USB ports don't match up with regular usbs, or old Apple chargers.

    Love My New Mac

Extremely excited about my new MacBook Pro! I gifted my niece my old 2019 MacBook Pro 16 due to that annoying bar along the keyboard. This version of the laptop speaks to the old days and love the keyboard as it feels like the old macbook pro laptop. Love the sleep design, the sd card reader on the side as well as the hdmi port was another added plus. Keypad feels great. Love the display on my screen crystal clear.

The Mother of All MacBooks - Absolute Beast

This is easily the best MacBook I've owned in years, and I've been using MacOs since 2014 when I was in college. The return of MagSafe and all these ports brought back such great memories of the MacBook Air that I used for so many years from that time even up until 2020 or so, although I had to buy a newer alone, long story short. And even better is that the Magsafe mechanism here is at least 3x sturdier than ever before, so you dont have to worry too much about accidentally yanking the cord or the Magsafe connector yellowing over time like the old ones often did.

Anyway, this beauty can handle so much of what you can throw at it without skipping a beat, with none of the fan noise or massive heat that came along with the old Intel models. I even have at least 10 tabs open in Chrome and haven't experienced any slowdowns either, and often even more than that depending on how much I have to get done. I know with my very old MBA I had to sell, that thing would fry like an egg easily without having to download a bunch of programs to control the fan speed and what not. You don't have to worry about any of that with this monster of a machine.

The silver aluminum finish really makes it truly feel like you're using a pro device. I especially love that the rubber feet are so sturdy and firmly keep the Macbook from sliding around all the time compared to the smaller Macbook 13" models. No more having to use a bunch of dongles to try to connect such things as drawing tablets directly into the computer. Even with the Rosetta 2 layer in place, I never noticed any problems running all the programs that previously worked with Intel either. Before I got this MacBook in the mail, I tried going back to the previous Intel MacBook Pro and the 10th gen Intel CPU was already really showing its age, even updating the OS to Monterrey. I was reminded of just how much I had to do just to keep that computer at a decent temperature, including turning off Turbo Boost and a whole bunch of other nonsense you don't have to even think about using this latest Macbook Pro. Less time wasted.

Let's not forget about the beautiful Liquid Retina XDR display that this comes with. That, the extra real estate you get from having a big 16" screen, and all these ports alone make having this powerhouse worth it if you can. Save yourself some money and go with this base model for the best bang for your buck. You're getting so much at a price just $800 more than how the Macbook Pro 13" from 2020 with 4 Thunderbolt ports was priced. It's definitely worth the upgrade and for anyone else who needs a huge screen and a sort of desktop like experience but on a mobile device, this MacBook is definitely for you! It's worth every penny. Oh yeah, the battery life is also crazy good and even with doing a whole bunch of things to get the computer set up, I was still at 76% battery and it was 88% right out of the box.

    The best MacBook ever!

I'm a huge Apple fan when it comes to computers! I own the 2009 MacBook Pro, Mac Pro for 2009, 2017 MacBook Pro, 2020 iMac, and now this MacBook Pro! I am blown away by the size of the screen and love the thick heavier feel of this laptop! Speed is phenomenal and the picture is mind blowing with all the different colors and brightness. I plan on learning how to do 3D rendering, so I thought this would be a great addition to my other tools for my business! I love everything about this computer so far, and I definitely will recommend it to everyone else!

My clock and my back say thanks!

I am a digital illustrator and animator, and as such, I frequently have several programs up and running at once, and bounce assets back and forth between them countless times throughout the course of a project. I am also a youngish twenty-something, and as such, I spend a lot of time bumming around on my couch going into YouTube black holes and not really feeling like getting up to get my charger even though it's only one room away. This laptop handles both of my "modes" beautifully. I upgraded from my old Dell because it had gotten to the point where if I opened Illustrator on top of Photoshop, it took about five minutes of cajoling to get it launched, then another five to open a file. That issue is just... not present here. There is no delay in my work flow whatsoever, and I've saved a crazy amount of time in just the one month I've had this laptop. And the battery life - which had also deteriorated in the ol' dinosaur - continues to blow me away. I bring my laptop to my day job every day to update spreadsheets and type reports and watch Netflix when things get slow (don't tell my boss!) and arrive at home with at least a half-charged battery still waiting for me, and the concept that I can just leave for the day without bringing the charger and be completely fine still amazes me.

Speaking of work, this thing is so light that when I brought it for the first time, I had to stop before I got into my car and make sure it was with me, because my thought process was literally "my bag is way too light; I forgot my computer, didn't I?"

I am by no means what anybody may refer to as a "computer guy," by which I mean that while I can talk all day about particular pieces of software and their performance, the internal workings of a computer all sound like gobbledygook to me. I had assistance in picking out this particular model and was told that it has allotted specific processing power to video performance - it's not something I would've known or been able to pick out from the list of tech specs on my own, but y'all, it's there.

I've rated "value" as "good" instead of "excellent" simply because ~$2800 was not an easy price tag - for the sake of context for anybody who may read this in the future, this purchase took place in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, and I definitely had some help from my government stimulus check, and probably would not have been able to afford it otherwise. But if you do just happen to have a grand and change fall into your pocket, it's worth the extra cash.

The 2014 Mac Air VS the New Mac Air

I own two Mac Airs. One from 2014 and this one. I would like to compare the two because I feel there are some features on the older version that are more desirable.

    1. The Battery

The new Mac battery lasts forever and charges quickly with a USB-C port. I favor the older magnetic charger but that's a small thing.

    2. Display

The new display is very clear however, the screen extends to the very edge of the device similar to the iPhone. So if you drop this device you're screwed. I dropped my 2014 and it dented the edge of the screen but didn't break the glass because of the extra aluminum edge. I don't think the new Mac screen would survive this.

    3. The web cam

The 2014 is very dark for some reason. The new Mac seems to have fixed this issue with a nice and clear video.

    4. USB ports

The 2014 has 2 USB-A ports, a lighting connection port, phone jack and an SDXC card slot

The new Mac only has two USB-C ports and a headphone jack! so you need a number of adapters to connect anything which is quite annoying especially since my wireless mouse uses an old USB-A. Apple only sells limited adapters so you need to buy PC adapters which I'm not crazy about. However I have a dual USB-A adapter from Dell that works great

    5. The Chip

The M1 chip is lighting fast. Even though my 2014 has an 1.4 Ghz dual core I5, it doesn't compare.

    6. The famous logo

It's another little thing but, I liked the illuminated apple logo on the back of the 2014. Maybe its no longer there to extend battery life? Idk but I thought it was a nice feature that separated apple from the rest.

Read BEFORE purchasing “Open box” condition!

I bought this online in “Open box” condition meaning the display model. It was described as being on excellent condition and all in all I ended up paying around $970 for it after taxes and fees. When I first received the laptop I was immediately in awe of its beauty (I bought the rose gold version) However upon trying to set up the laptop and gain access into it I ran into a bunch of issues which required me to contact Apple support. Best Buy had not done a software reset on the laptop before shipping it to me which resulted in me not being able to log in or set up my password. It was only after 2 days of receiving it that Apple finally pin pointed the issue and was able to walk me through doing a complete reset thereby allowing me to finally gain access into my laptop! Ever since then I’ve been in love with it! My only small complaint would be that I have to buy an adapter now to be able to connect my phone to it, other than that this was a great buy!

I've purchased this model of the MacBook; the day after Christmas. When I bought it, I fell in love with it. I bought the Gold Color; which I thought was cute. Although the MacBook came with the 256GB which I thought was enough. I bought this MacBook for online school, it is so flawless. I love the quietness, no viruses and the compatibility. It is very fast. This is my first MacBook and I will keep it forever.

My one and only daily driver for everything

I have been using this laptop as my daily driver ever since the day I purchased it. It has never overheated. The most it ever gets is a bit warm after having 10+ windows and applications open in the background. The feeling of the laptop is therapeutic and feels amazing, but I recommend having some form of protection because it does feel like one drop from a decent height can be fatal. The display is great. The sound is from the speakers are actually more than decent. Overall, this MacBook Air has been amazing. Highly recommend!

Replaced my 10-year-old MacBook Air & I am so happy. The new one has many improvements, for example in the grammar & spelling corrections. Speed is greatly improved. Unfortunately the USB port is different so I had to buy an adapter to look at any old flash drives. Not sure why they did that, but since it’s Apple, I’m sure there was a good reason.

I bought a Incase Icon sleeve to store in when not in use. That is a must have accessory to have to protect computer. This was my second MacBook Air purchase. Perfect for a Pro/Superuser. Overkill for casual.

I tried out the 13" M1 2020 and liked it a lot. 8GB wasn't enough RAM for what I was doing in school thought, and I wasn't a big fan of the 13" screen (just too small for my liking). At the time, the new Macbook Pro M1 Pro series hadn't dropped yet and the only option I had for more RAM (in stock at BB) without custom ordering it and waiting a long time was to go with the the 16" MBP Intel i9. That nearly burned my legs, was constantly thermal-throttling it's potential, and sounded like an F16 was being taxied to the runway every time the fans turned on to attempt to mitigate the heat (unsuccessfully).

Thankfully, Apple released this series of MBP with the right RAM and M1 series (Pro) in their 16" size MBPs about 10 days after I went home with the Intel i9. What a relief it's been after exchanging it. Love everything about this computer. Quiet. Powerful. Some might complain of the keyboard change but it's honestly one my favorite differences in regards to the user input. Super bouncy keys and easy to type on. I don't feel myself picking my fingers up on each key like I had been and more so letting the keys bounce my fingers off them as a type. I average 80-100wpm on a normal keyboard (not with the previous MBP) and this has probably increased that to higher than a standard desktop keyboard.

I use both PC and Apple very regularly being a computer programmer and they are 2 very different beasts. Overall, for school, media editing, general web-browsing, and ease of use, Apple is the way to go. If you choose Apple and consider yourself a higher end computer user or superuser, this is your beast. If you aren't going to be doing a whole lot more than browsing the web, creating Microsoft Office documents, and aren't super familiar with computers aside from the very basics or word documents and Chrome, this is probably a little more machine than you need. If cost isn't a factor and you're just trying to flex on your friends and classmates, pull the trigger.

I was on the fence here

When these launched, I was debating on if I should stick with my M1 MBP or jump to the larger screen. I watched countless hours of reviews on both the 14” and the 16”, as well as comparisons between these and the 13”; the reviews were all pretty much the same and said the same things, but nothing in them convinced me to buy it.

A few days ago I got to see the 14” on display at Best Buy and the screen was beautiful, but it wasn’t much larger than the screen I already had, so I walked away and continued to research them.

A few days past and after seeing the 16 Gig RAM and 32 Gig RAM models were operating about the same, I decided to give the base model 16” a try. So, I placed the order and procrastinated picking it up for more than a day, but I finally went to grab it.

When I got the machine home, cracked open the box and pulled it out, I realized the it was physically an intimidating size for a laptop, but that wasn’t a huge issue, so I pushed forward.

Upon opening the laptop and hearing the chime, I peeled away the film on the screen and this is when it hit me. The screen was massive and beautiful! I own an LG C1 OLED and a 5th Gen iPad Pro 12.9”, and those are beautiful images, but this is the first to truly blow me away! From this point on I was hooked on the machine,t he size and weight concerns to a backseat compared to the privilege of using the screen.

As far as the performance goes, it is about what you would expect from it as everyone and their brother have already reviewed this thing. It works and it works well overall.

So, if you’re somebody that is on the fence and you don’t have the money, then don’t even go see this thing as it will be very hard to resist at that point. If you have the money and you’re on the fence, go see the screen and I’m sure you’re going to agree, it is very impressive.

If this is what the pro XDR is like, I completely understand why they charge so much, but that isn’t something I can afford, so I at least get a taste with this MacBook Pro.

A sexy beast of a laptop

Absolutely amazing. The new chip is blazing fast. I'm going to just highlight some of the best things going on here.

First, if you are doing any content creation, the 14" is not the way to go if you aren't docking. The 16" is so much more comfortable for editing; so far, the video editing is comfortable and easy to see, and scaling works well.

It has a 10-core M1 Pro with 16 GPU cores, so it can shred 4k with ease. But... if time is really important to you, and you have disposable income, get the M1 max; it has twice the GPU cores and *can potentially* give you better performance with rendering if you are using video toolbox; I personally use CPU rendering for exact consistency so there isn't much of a difference if any for most cases.

The camera is way better than the 720p on the MacBook Air and Pro of last year. It's not anything to call home about, but it is much more crisp, and works with the camera effects, adding a nice blur to the background with portrait mode. However, the camera introduces the infamous controversial notch.

I see no issues with the notch, and it should not impact your decision. Why? Because the MacBook Pro has a 16:10 ratio, and the top chunk is where the "menu bar" resides. The notch is completely invisible when the UI is black, and even when it's colored, the notch is using empty space. For those who were concerned that it may cover functionality, it doesn't as long as the app developers adapt, and even then, haven't run into any issues. If anything, it's a benefit. With a camera, you lose screen space. Instead, Apple has tiny bezels, and that extra screen space that would've been lost in the bezel is retained; everyone who was making complaints on social media was neglecting to mention that they were using 3rd party apps that didn't change their code to adapt to the notch, whereas all first-party software has no issues adapting. Funny that the creators of apps are shaming Apple when in reality, it is their own negligence to adapt :P I am pro-Notch

When Apple said they put high-res speakers, they weren't kidding. The EQ tuning is exceptional on these tiny speakers (apparently 3 on each side); the stereo is immersive and crisp. That leads me to the headphone jack...

The headphone jack has automatic impedance voltage regulation, and using the new "Midi" software, you can configure the sample rate up to 96kHz. It can't compete with better external amps and DACs but it can absolutely dominate any consumer laptop in the market.

The screen on the 14 and 16 inch models are the same DPI and brightness at 254dpi and 1000 nits (typical) compared to 400-500 on the previous generation Air and Pro units, and up to 1600nits when viewing HDR content.

Gaming? Absolutely! I installed Steam and Epic to test performance. I could get 60fps on Rust which runs on Rosetta 2 for the x86 instruction translation, and it works well. The bottom of the chassis got warm, but the fans never turned on. Fortnite also runs, and at a solid 60fps on epic. I expect more optimizations to come from Rosetta 2, the M1 Pro chip, as well as Unreal Engine optimizations to see even more increases. While this is by no means a gaming machine, it is more than capable of casual to moderate use, and that is with a resolution of 3.5k...

If you are in the market for a new Mac, chances are this is not for you. Most would be good with the MacBook Air 2020, but if you're tied, I would add that the 16 GB of Ram future proofs the unit even more, and if you plan on side loading Windows 11 with Parallels, it is a no-brainer, this thing shreds Windows too.

HDMI port, dedicated MagSafe charging, and an extra USB C port for a total of 3, and a 3.5mm jack, much better than having to buy a dongle for everything.

Apple does not disappoint with battery life either; I see anywhere from 15-22 hours depending on the workflow. Between the optimizations of efficiency cores, the huge battery, and adaptive display brightness, everything just fits together so well on the hardware and software. Speaking of hardware, they did away with the Touch Bar, and the physical keys are so much better now. This is the MacBook Pro you've been waiting for.

Want some cons? Here they are. It's bloody expensive when there are Windows computers half the price. No Touch Bar; I think this is a con but some prefer it; the camera although improved is still not that good for a laptop starting at 1999 to 2499; the M1 chip uses arm technology, so it has to emulate x86 instructions which is somewhat finicky on some hardware, but since it can outperform an i9 10th-gen even via emulation, not a con other than bugs. Last potential con is the weight, it is a tank at right around 4 pounds compared to the 2.8 pounds of the Air.

    Best computer ever.

Since yesterday, I’ve been running some difficult tasks and I still haven’t heard the fan noise. Using my old 16” MacBook, the fans would kick in as soon as I start some software. With the M1 pro, nothing. Battery life is excellent, screen is excellent. Apple really knocked it out of the park with this computer.

Much better but still not a 5 Star

As a Mac fan and not really a Windows fan I wanted to write this review on the new 16.2 inch Mac with the M1 Pro CPU. Let me start by saying that the battery would be rated 6 stars if that was an option. It seems twice as good as the 16 inch with the Intel i9, maybe even better. I have played a couple of games on the laptop to see if I could fire the fans up but this laptop is the coolest running laptop I have seen with this much power. I have not run the laptop thru any performance tests but I can tell that it is very powerful. There was a lot of hype about the mini-led display but although the display is very bright and crisp I did not see a noticeable difference to the eye when compared to the previous model. I kind of got used to the Touch Bar so I think I would have rather they kept it, but not a big deal. Now let me touch on the points that in my opinion bring this back down to 4 stars. The size - larger and heavier than the previous model but if that is what it takes to keep the laptop cool then I am ok with it. Still, the extra weight is noticeable. The keyboard according to Apple is still a magic keyboard but the keystroke length feels shorter and I seem to make more mistakes typing than on the magic keyboard released in 2019. I have seen other comments related to this as well but Apple just says it is still the magic keyboard. While I am on the topic of the keyboard I am not sure why they surrounded the keys with a black background rather than the color of the laptop but I think the previous model looked cleaner, just my opinion. Now let me get to the shortfalls. With all the technical expertise and pioneering that Apple has demonstrated, why can't they build in a face scan option like a Microsoft Surface which is more secure and makes it much easier and quicker to login. If the web camera is as sharp as they say it is then it should be able to support face scans. The fingerprint option is nice but you still have to type your password in initially to login. Seems like Apple is going in the wrong direction for logins. Also, maybe there is an option to change this but I like to tap my finger on the touchpad to select an item rather than actually pressing the touchpad to make a click. Not a huge deal breaker but still irritating. Microsoft has plenty of shortcomings too such as the constant need to install updates. Other personnel have commented on this but I would like to point out that my MSI 1700 dollar laptop smokes this laptop with it's Nvidia GPU. I'm not convinced that Apple cares about gaming but they still have some work to do if they want to be considered a gaming laptop, With all that said, I personally would not let this stop you from buying one of these incredible machines. Apple definitely improved this laptop with their M1 CPU's and I look forward to seeing what is next.

M1 MacBook Pro, A Game Changer.

This is my third Mac purchase from Best Buy in Mission Viejo. The M1 MacBook Pro is a game-changer.

My first purchase was an iMac in 2013. My second purchase was a MacBook Air in 2014. Both those units are still up and running and work great!

Now on to the M1 Power Book Pro:

This laptop is on steroids. It is so fast that I can't even make a French Press Coffee the way I used to on my iMac.

For those who surf the web, do email and consume media truckloads, this is a perfect laptop.

Yes, I also create media, and I wanted to see if this laptop were everything I thought it would be.

    The answer is yes.

Now the camera is not the best, okay?

    Everything else, simply perfect!

PS I originally wanted to get a new MacBook Air with 16GB of RAM and a 2TB drive, and Apple is still ramping things up. No worries, as soon as the new iMac M1x comes out, I'll get that too, LOL. For 1299.00 USD, this is a great value.

    Amazing Piece of Hardware.

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing. Wow Apple really did it again. I upgraded my current 2013 MacBook Air to this 2020 MacBook Pro and I love the new upgrade. If you’re looking for a new laptop and for a decent gaming laptop, now with the M1 chip this thing outweighs a lot of high end gaming laptops, however I do have to say steam is updating their games to this model as soon as they can!

    AMAZING!!!!

Amazing MacBook!! The MacBook with M1 is blazing fast, even the standard base model with no upgrades. This was a replacement from an iPad since I needed more of a computer feel and software for my work. I now use sidecar with my iPad for additional display.

I've run into ZERO issues with any software or applications not working with the M1 chip. I've heard of problems arising but I myself have not come across that at all.

If you have any other Apple products and are looking into buying a computer but hesitating on a Mac, SERIOUSLY consider an Apple computer (whether it's an iMac, Mac mini, Pro or Air). The Apple ecosystem is what makes the slightly higher price tag SO worth it. All of your Apple products sync with one another seamlessly and everything you put on your iPhone can be accessed by your MacBook or iPad via iCloud (ecosystem), etc and vice versa, which makes keeping all of your things in "one place" so easy. You can also continue where you left off on one device and pick back up from another. This is what has kept me for years. MacOS is also incredibly easy to use.

These computers will last over a decade -- I have a mid-2011 iMac in my office that is still working today. It's an investment but one that will LAST. I work for a tech company and see Windows computers coming in and out for repairs and getting replaced every week. Mac computers are far less frequent.

You will love whatever Mac you decide on when you realize just how much you're missing out on from not having one! Amazing, amazing computers. Powerful and secure. Great battery life. Beautiful Retina display. Seamless switching between devices. I could go on and on and on and on...

IN LOVE & RUNS SIMS 4 WONDERFULLY

when I tell you I am smitten by this laptop.... I’m 26 and have never owned my own laptop or made such a hefty purchase but man, was she worth it.

I spent over a week spinning my wheels about what kind of device to get and what brand. Although I am a loyal Apple customer, I didn’t want to spend too much money and was actually going to purchase a windows mid price laptop. BUT, I just KNEW I wouldn’t be completely happy with it and I’d keep thinking about this MacBook Air.

I wanted something that would knock me off my feet, something I’m used to functioning (I’m familiar and comfortable with apple products), and something that would last me a LONG TIME.

Another huge piece of my decision making is the fact that I wanted to be able to play Sims 4 on my new laptop. I’m aware Apple devices historically aren’t for gaming, but guess what, this new M1 chip isn’t messing around. After chatting with some tech professionals at Best Buy and them assuring me this laptop would run Sims 4 beautifully, I knew what I had to do.

Let me just say that the Big Sur update along with this M1 chip make this laptop an absolute DREAM. She is incredible and I cherish her. She runs so smoothly, plays Sims SO smoothly, all of the new updates are outstanding, and I couldn’t be happier.

Worth every dollar spent. 5/5 purchase. You won’t regret it. :)

New MacBook Pro Gives Me a Leap Forward

When my 2012 MacBook Pro died after 8 years of solid service, I knew I wanted another Mac. But I seriously considered going for a desktop as I've gotten into video creation and editing. No need - my new MacBook Pro has 1 TB of onboard storage, and 16 GB of RAM - plus plenty of processing power for churning out videos without a sweat. While I'm usually working at my desk, it's great to know that this workhorse can come along anywhere I need it!

    Can’t complain yet.

When I worked as a Certified Apple Technician I told myself I would never upgrade to one of these Touch Bar MacBook Pros but my 10 year old MacBook Pro started to slow down and I was tired of upgrading the internals of the machine and decided to just upgrade to a newer MacBook Pro, I got the one that had a bit more power and storage to match the specs of the one I was used to as I use my machine for a lot of multitasking; photo, video, music production, as well as using two operating systems at once almost all the time. So far I haven’t had any frustration with the machine not being capable of doing what I want it to do. Only complaint I have is the complaint I had years ago when they first released a glimpse of these new models and that is the continuous purchases of cable adapters (aka. dongles) so right off the bat I had to spend an extra $100 for an adapter.

Fantastic Option for College and Remote Learning

I bought this for my daughter to use as she starts her first year of college. She had been using a new iPad and the specs on it weren't allowing her to access all of the sites she needed for class and tests -- lesson learned here to wait and see what remote learning will require during COVID. I was hoping to purchase this on sale, but she needed it too quickly so we took the plunge and are so glad we did. It is extremely fast, has a gorgeous display, and she absolutely loves it. I don't think she's stopped hugging me in appreciation since! Apple made it so easy for her to set up on her own as well, so she was up and running soon after she took it out of the box! With the 1TB storage, she'll be keeping it for the duration of her education, I'm sure, if not longer.

    Best Computer

I had been using a 2015 MacBook Air since 2015 and it still works wonderfully, though it was starting to get a tiny bit slow. I also left it in a hot car which did not do wonders to the battery life, so I decided to upgrade. I went with the MacBook Pro and this computer is lighting fast! The speakers sound great. I love the new touch ID. The touch bar is an interesting feature that has it's pros and cons. It's nice to have a couple of the features it provides, but it would also be nice to have some of the dedicated function keys that you have to do without due to the bar.

Overall, I highly recommend this computer!

This Mac is by far the best laptop Apple has produced. It is lightning fast, and the intel core is a monster! If you’ve been in the market for a laptop business or home use this is the way to go hands down. It has a processor that is fast and strong enough for multiple tasks and storage a plenty, but it also is great for students in college or high school that are seriously into art, science, business, and of course, MUSIC!!!! Primarily I use it for my home studio recording and I run some top notch VST's like Omnisphere & Keyscape from spectrasonic. Everything runs smooth best thing about best buy is that they offer great deals here and there which I saved $200 on this model regular $2,799. If you planning to invest in a new macbook regarding for personal use or studio recording like me, go for it you won't be disappointed.

An acceptable replacement for an old MBP17

It’s blazing. The 16 inch screen is amazing, even in comparison to my old MBP17. I miss the MagSafe power connector. Hoping I don’t break this one off inside the laptop. The TouchPad is rather large, leaving little room for palms and an awkward hand position for typing. I was weary of the TouchBar, but now I love it!! Get yourself an adapter now. You will certainly need a USB-C adapter.

New MacBook with M1 chip is a beast!

This is crazy fast and handles editing 4K 60fps and the fan hasn’t even came on yet, which is just unheard of. I had the 16” MacBook and this is faster than it. If your wondering how it will handle big video loads and editing 4K then rest assured this will do it without even breaking a sweat. I wish Apple would start it out with 16gb of ram and a 1080p webcam, but that’s Apple. The battery last about 18 hours with me putting heavy loads on it. I couldn’t get 20 hours like they said, but this is still a huge plus for it as well.

The Best Laptop You Can Get!

This is hands down the best computer I have ever bought. It has excellent battery life, is very powerful and has a crisp clear display. It is a very fast machine, and has many nice features that Appeal to me quite nicely. The keyboard is very nice to type on, and the Touch Bar makes tasks easier for me. Touch ID is also very nice. This machine has so much power that it easily runs multiple task intensive apps like Xcode and iMovie at the same time. I was surprised by how good the built in sound is as well. Overall, this machine is a great buy and an excellent workhorse. I would recommend this over practically any other computer. The only exception is the version with 16 GB of Ram rather than 8 GB. For me, it does not make a whole lot of difference, however.

Also, Touch Bar isn’t very useful, but it’s nice to have in apps like office 365 apps where it can be helpful to quickly bold text and more like that. I switched to this MacBook Air from a surface laptop. This computer is so much better because the keyboard isn’t made from cloth for one, further the keys feel amazing when typing on. The trackpad on this MacBook is the best I’ve ever touched because it’s a lot smoother and responsive than any laptop I touched before. Also if you click down it’s a lot quieter than most laptops. The operating system is very efficient since you can text off it, FaceTime, and take phone calls. If you are a student or someone looking to complete online work then this computer will be perfect for you. Also the screen quality on this MacBook is exquisite.

    Must have!

I have always been a PC person. Always. But I am an iPhone user and thought “why not?” I am loving this machine and it’s portability. The weight is minimal and I found a great case, so I can take it anywhere. The charge lasts a while for me.

I had a hard time setting it up at first. Switching everything over was hard, I was afraid of losing all my passwords for internet accounts. After the first day, it was better. There is a learning curve if you’ve never used one, but TOTALLY worth it.

    Great Birthday Gift!

I purchased this MacBook as a gift for myself for my birthday this year. I fell in love with it after using it everyday. Once you learn the in and out functions you’ll be so happy you purchased it. I’m happy I no longer have to pay for Microsoft office. I also work for Apple so I’m learning the perks of my devices pretty well. Being able so send things to my laptop and desktop from my phone has made my like 1,000 times easier!

    Amazing!

First of all, this laptop is GORGEOUS. I was nervous at first with it being really small since I have a 16 inch PC but honestly it’s the perfect size. Set up was easy, getting used to it will take a fews days though. Everything works perfect, I didn’t notice it heats up really fast though.. not sure if that’s a good thing or bad but I’ll keep checking on it. Definitely recommend!

    The Best!

Gorgeous build quality, top of the line laptop.

I tried a windows laptop and a chromebook before springing for this, but nothing compares to the mac OS. Having been a mac desktop user for 32 years, you can't really switch. Trackpad was surprisingly easy to adapt to, but I still got a Logitech M355 bluetooth mouse which works great with the macbook.

    Love my new MacBook Air!

I love my new MacBook Air, and the Rose Gold is so pretty! My old MacBook Pro was from 2012, and had started to run slow, so I made the choice to upgrade to a new device. The MacBook Air is much lighter, and it is so fast. I ordered online, and it was delivered safely in just a few days. I've had it about a month now, and I'm well pleased. It was so easy to set up that I was up and running in a matter of minutes. Some people shy away from Mac products thinking that they are too expensive, however my previous MacBook Pro was 8 years old before I replaced it with this Air, so I feel that in then long run, these products are cost efficient. I never had a PC to last half that long without issues.

    What a great purchase!

I made the jump finally to a Mac and I can't believe I didn't do it sooner. This Macbook Air is a great machine for an ultra portable laptop. Even thought it is an ultra portable laptop it doesn't feel cheap or slow or like it is holding back anything from a performance standpoint. The Mac OS is better than I expected and the fit and finish of this laptop is the best I have ever used. I have been using exclusively Dell and Lenovo brand laptops for many years and I now realize I have been missing out on this addition of the Apple ecosystem for too long.

First and foremost. I have been an avid Windows user for about 15 years. I even had a Windows Phone when those were in existence. For the past 4 years I have made my way into the Apple ecosystem and I feel that this has been the best choice for me. Long story short, this MacBook purchase culminates my love for all things Apple. Granted it isn't as powerful as the Pro version but for what I do with editing photos, mixing music and video all while browsing the web, it is sufficient in its ability to preform!

Great laptop, Apple Quality as you expect

My wife is a 3rd grade teacher and we bought this for her upcoming school year. Very nice laptop and definitely the Quality you expect from Apple.

The only thing I wish was better would be the webcam. The webcam is 720 not 1080HD- if you are doing lots of video chats you will be disappointed with the webcam it comes with.

This is not a primary use feature for us so not a big deal but worth mentioning.

The rose gold is a very nice color!

    Goodbye Windows. Hello MacOS.

Everyone always talks down on a MacBook Air. But, I love mine. It’s perfect for my photography business and has lots of storage, and fast. I even brought my 10 year old one because of how pleased I was with mine, and she has been using it and loving it for remote learning and gaming.

I love my new Mac Air. The keyboard is so easy to type on and I love the Rose Gold Color. Excellent display as well. Watching Netflix or Hulu has good screen quality. Still getting use to the shot cut demands. Also bought a iMac CD/DVD writer to transfer my music and was a easy hook up.

    Great for beginners.

Keeping this short. This is IDEAL for beginners and pros alike. I live in NYC and work in showbiz. Broadway etc. Covid displaced me from my home in Queens and my work is all on hold until 2021. I decided to take this time to get my Masters degree ONLINE as it’s the ONLY option to learning. The task is daunting as a professional in their late 30s because of the online learning aspect. I jumped in and bought this knowing NOTHING about computers aside from editing Film footage. Well, that was 8/29. One month later, I’m not only taking classes but I’m online and attaining all A’s. I attribute this to how EASY and user friendly this product is for ANY AGE. I’m beyond pleased with this purchase.

    Best upgrade ever.

I love this MacBook Pro. I was a little worried since this was an open item and the the condition description was Open Box Satisfactory but I have to say I couldn’t find any imperfection on this laptop. The main reason I purchased it was to upgrade my old 2015 MacBook Pro which struggled handling Gopro 9 footage, I don’t have any issues anymore it runs really smooth even on 4k editing. And the battery last 4 time longer compared to my old Mac

This is my first MacBook/Apple Computer ever. Haven't used a Apple PC since elementary school when we had floppy disk drives and then again in the mid 90's. I am very impressed how easy it was to navigate coming from a long time Windows person. It took a couple of days but now I am in love with it. Super fast, love how my Apple Watch unlocks my Mac. The price was right thanks to best buy saved a couple hundred on a brand new one.

    Great Device, even greater features

Really great Device. The M1 chip and the fast sad makes the laptop, even with only 8Gb ram, feel super fast and fluid. The Screen gets really bright and vivid, and the keyboard is a pleasure to type on. Also, Touch Bar isn’t very useful, but it’s nice to have in apps like office 365 apps where it can be helpful to quickly bold text and more like that. Lastly, the fingerprint sensor is great, the open to wake feature of the laptop is amazing, and this is a must buy for college

    Space Grey Pro

Was needing a new computer and decided to get the new MacBook Pro as I have heard they last a long time. My experience so far has been great and love the space grey color. The large trackpad is handy and works well, I also like how you can adjust several setting such as the brightness/volume to your liking with just a swipe of the Touch Bar. Though this is an expensive computer, it is timeless and seems to last others a long time. So far, I am enjoying using my MacBook and am happy with my choice of purchasing from Best Buy.

    Pretty Good

It's a good machine. I bought this as a temp replacement for my Razer Blade Advanced that's now with the Geek Squad unfortunately. It's not as fast as the Razer Blade but its close and I'm not crazy about soldered components but I'll take it over a non-working machine.

    Here's my experience:

Temps: Excellent! Light use (email) results in around temps of 80 F. Medium use (5-6 web browser tabs open, a few applications running, etc) temps are in the range of 100 F - 130 F (about 113-117 F stable with a cooling pad). Maxing out all 6 cores, I saw temps in the range of about 170 F (with a cooling pad). This is the first MBP and first power user laptop that I can actually put in my lap for light to medium use without cooking meat...Nice!!!

Battery: No 11 hours yet as Apple advertises. I'm getting about 7+ hours on the light end and about 9+ on the high end.

Touch Bar: After a heavy use of multiple applications, the Touch Bar froze and required a kill command through Terminal; not crazy about that. I miss the physical buttons for brightness, volume, etc.

Finger Sensor: It's accurate and fast. Very nice integration for logging in and authenticating online and off.

Speakers: They're amazing, the best I've ever heard on a laptop in terms of cleanness of sound and loudness. I find myself turning the volume down more than up. The sound cleanses I'd say is the equivalent to a $60 external Bluetooth speaker.

Mic: I didn't find it to be cats pajamas as it's advertised to be. It's better than my Samsung Note 9 cellphone quality but not by much.

Screen: It's a MBP, always awesome. Greatly enjoying the 16:10 ratio.

Keyboard: It's renamed the "magic keyboard" but it's actually the older keyboard before the not liked "Butterfly Keyboard". It feels good for long term typing and sounds good...it always has. No complaints.

If you're a Power User and not doing 3D rendering then I would keep with the i7 and upgrade the memory. In retrospect, I should have bumped up to 32 GB as when I'm running full, I'm typically down to 1.5 GB - 2 GB of free memory.

My last MBP is now 10 years old and cost around $3,700 for a maxed out 17". That breaks down to about $30.83 a month. If this Mac last as long, then $24 a month is amazing for this caliber of machine for many years to come.

    Grad school necessity

So my 2013 MPB started having keyboard trouble. I eventually settled on this 16 in after looking at the air and the 13 in pros. Anyway, I've been having to use my external monitor when writing papers for school and I was tired of having to sit at my desk. I typically read research papers on one screen, type on another, and browse the web on another. On the 13 in the side by side windows were too small and I had to subtly manipulate each window. With the 16 inch, I can have all three windows open to decent sizes, side by side by side. Great for productivity. Everything else is as most online review state - good keyboard, nice speakers, etc. The battery life seems good but it still drains roughly 10% per hour depending on usage. Charging is fast and having the ability to charge on both sides of the laptop is another plus for me. This machine is expensive but I hope to keep it for 10 years! I also plan to get into coding and again setting up side by side windows is great with the amount of stuff you can see. I have the setting to the smallest font so I can see a whole lot on one screen.

I needed a laptop that could handle the work load and get my photos or videos edited as fast a possible. I don’t have time for waiting. So if your a filmmaker or photographer this is a awesome tool to have In your bag. It still fits in my bag even though they say It will only fit up to a 15inch laptop this 16inch still fits no problem!!

    Just a downright great laptop!

I thought I wouldn’t love it since the ports are all usb-c but after discovering they have adapters I truly love it! It’s so much faster than my old early 2015 MBP 13 inch and I can easily run FCP on it with no worries. I still bought an external hard drive to keep space free on my laptop. The huge screen is a game changer and I love that I can open it with my fingerprint or my Apple Watch. I mean it’s MCP. Just Buy it already.

Happy with my first ever macbook. Its been 3 weeks now of usage.

Pros: light, slim, fast, great graphics, love the speaker volume, awesome touch screen bar, and keyboard is super comfortable for a touch typist. Cons: adjustment from windows to ios takes time and a lot of patience. I go to youtube to assist me with some tutorial. When using speaker during video call or zoom meeting for 2-3 hours macbook heats up. I mean hot. To reduce the heat build up, I use earphone during video meetings or watching movies while multitasking. And the fan is loud! Its kinda disturbing but it will turned off after 2-3mins. It only has 2 usb ports. Need to buy a hub for my printer cable and magtech cable. But Im keeping this baby.

I got my Macbook M1 Pro 14” couple of days ago and it is nothing but pro in all ramifications. Lightening fast and solidly delievers. Many of the apps I used to wait for some seconds or minute to open are now open at a blink of an eye. Great laptop.

Insane performance. Worthy of the "Pro" name.

I was pretty excited when I watched the keynote but doubted that it would live up to the hype... I was wrong. First off, the build quality is fantastic, feels real solid and I like the thicker build. The new screen is beautiful and you don't even notice the notch. The new M1 pros are powerhouses that just smashed everything I threw at it without missing a beat. I use it with dual monitors, one 4k 60hz and one 1440p 164hz and it has no problem driving them watching videos on one screen, working on another with 100 tabs open. Adobe apps are all super snappy. The keyboard is very comfortable and responsive and THANK GOD the touchbar is gone and finally get back our f keys. Battery life is beyond expectations. Doesn't get hot in my lap if I take it to the couch to do some work at night like my 15" did. Do I need the HDMI 2.0? No... 2.1 would have been better. Do I wish maybe it was another thunderbolt, absolutely. Will I ever use the SD card slot, nope. If you are a Mac user and need the power, get it, you wont be disappointed at all.

Worth every penny, especially the speakers.

This is the computer Apple should have released when it made the change five years ago. This is faster than my custom built desktop and portable of course. Blows away anything you throw at it, lightroom, 8K timelapses, rendering, this thing is screaming fast. I was worried 16gb wouldnt be enough but with the lpddr5 controller it is screaming fast. In almost a week of pretty signifcant use the fans have only come on a couple times. Best computer I’ve ever owned.

Needed a boost from the MacBook Air

Indeed, is the answer to transitioning to this over from a Air. Perhaps you have a different experience but since I’ve recently received this MacBook. I have now both Air and Pro but this MacBook gets really hot and I am only doing the same things side to side from my air and seems to get to hot while my Air stays cool. I needed this for school so I could work on my photography and now I’ve seem to have to use the Air more because I’m afraid that the Pro heats up and I don’t not want to chance any mechanical failures and for just about 1800 dollars and that’s getting one that’s opened box, certified And looks New only came missing was that actual box. Boxes are penny’s over what you get inside them but. This heat thing does worry me and I’ve made lots of calls but pandemic is hard to communicate so I hope this works out. First in college and already two MacBooks. Fingers crossed I guess.

    Super cute in Silver!

I love my new MacBook pro I am new to the MacBook family! Previous to this I always owned Windows computers and those always seemed to crap out very quickly. I've had my laptop about a week now and I love it ! The speed is great and I love that I can find really cute cases online. I also got Apple care + with my purchase and I intend to keep this laptop for some time ! The 13 inch screen I thought was gonna be too small for me it's a decent size and fits in many bags or purses. Mine has an IPAPA case on it.

    It is...

...More than adequate! I purchased this for my daughter and her excellent husband. I do NOT buy junque for either friends or family. Apple makes a quality product and this particular MacBook Pro is nothing but a quality piece of equipment.

    Is it FAST? Yup!

    Is it beautifully made? Yupp!

Is the screen superb-a-mundo excellente'? Yuppers!

Look, I am not here to lie to you just to make myself out to be something other than a satisfied BB & fApple customer. My daughter and her husband reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally like their new PowerBook! Like, not "love". Only a fool pretends to love something as inanimate as an inanimate device.

Buy one and I seriously doubt you will be disappointed. I am not. Again, I do NOT buy junque. Neither should you.

Trust me. I know what I'm doin' when I'm reviewin'.

MacBook Pro + Best Buy Never Disappoint

I had such excellent help in selecting the right Mac product recently. The Best Buy sales person took his time to explain the differences between one laptop and another and showed me the latest features and their benefits in certain uses. I felt very comfortable making my selection because I was better informed than when I first entered the store. I was able to order the laptop -- it was not available at that time in the store, and it was shipped to the store for pick-up at a time that was convenient for me. I had the option to have it shipped to my house, but since it required a signature, I did not want to risk missing the delivery. Best Buy made it work for me and my situation. I really appreciate the outstanding service.

2009 MacBook Pro to a 2019 MacBook Pro

My family had the MacBook Pro since around 2009 2010 and it was finally time for an upgrade. When I say upgrade I mean New lol. We couldn't do our homework, apply to jobs, watch youtube, or even check our emails. I'm gonna be honest since I bought the latest model, there isn't much of a difference to my old one. I like that these newer laptops are lighter in weight. Some new things I noticed are the new clear screen, Siri, Touch Bar, new different usb slots, the keyboard clicking sound, like only a couple of new updates since the 2009 2010 model. Also there's no disc slot so I guess CDs are history lol. Not complaining but i thought I just point out those details for other people. The thing with Apple is that they make long lasting laptops. I figured I spend two grand to get the newest one and see how long it will last me and my family this time around. Heres hoping another 10 years lol or until I graduate. Overall its a great laptop and definitely and upgrade in the end.

    Braided MagSafe cable: 5/5

    Keyboard typing quality: 5/5

    Trackpad: 5/5

Fingerprint sensor: 5/5 fast and larger than previous iterations

Notch: dont care honestly (neutral) and most of the times you dont see it, and its hidden when u fullscreen content

    Function keys: fullsize 5/5

Build quality: 5/5 excellent and as expected from a premium apple product

Bluetooth and wifi connections works perfectly fine

    Apple stickers are black: 5/5

MacOS: 4/5 so far; not 100% sure yet as its my first Mac

Performance: 5/5 has been flawless so far (didnt test games yet and not sure i will)

Battery: 5/5 excellent and way better than most premium laptops out there

Cooling: 5/5 fans didnt even turn on yet no matter what i did, it only gets just a tad bit warm after about an hour of use

No complaints so far. I definitely recommend this laptop for those who are able to get it. It should last many years before it starts begging to be put to rest. And please dont say this is for pros only, having a good computer shouldnt be gatekeeped from anyone able to get one, and getting one is better for longevity and resale value.

    Pure. Efficient. Firepower.

When Apple first introduced the M1 silicon chip that was built entirely in-house last year, it took the world by storm and it put AMD and especially Intel, on notice. Plebians and professionals both knew that the professional version of the M1 was right around the corner.

Fast forward to 2021, both the M1 Pro and M1 Max was introduced and not only did it pretty much make Intel and AMD chips irrelevant for productivity workflows (as a PC gamer, I still recommend the traditional chips from AMD and Intel), but it also shot a warning round towards NVIDIA with Apple's new GPU prowess. The M1 Max has GPU performance similar to the RTX 3060...in a SoC package significantly smaller, less heat and more power efficient. That's insane.

Apple had answered the call with the new redesigned MBP and tech world will remember this version as Apple's finest notebook computer since the original MacBook Pro from over a decade ago.

Note: if you're not doing anything that makes you money or live by the "time is money", I highly recommend you to NOT buy this over a M1 MacBook Air. I've been photo editing large amounts of DNG files in Lightroom Classic and the M1 MacBook Air was more than capable of handling the load.

A Better Balance of Function and Form

I will start this review by stating that this laptop probably has more power under the hood than any average consumer will need but, if the price is within your budget, you really can’t go wrong with the new 14” MacBook Pro. Performance of the M1 Pro chip is superb - I don’t get into fancy benchmarks but can just share that, in real world use, this thing flies. I wouldn’t describe myself as a “power user,” by any stretch but, based on my limited experience thus far, I think the 2021 MBP packs more than enough power for most users. While not as elegant looking as the MacBook Air, the MBP finally better balances function with form - the addition of ports, physical function keys, and return of the MagSafe charger are all welcome changes. The keyboard is fantastic - if you are coming from an older MacBook model with the much maligned butterfly keyboard, you will undoubtedly enthusiastically welcome the “magic keyboard” typing experience. The trackpad remains one of the best in the industry with great haptics and an ample control area. Audio is superb - without question the best speakers I have heard on a laptop. The webcam is also now finally 1080p, so your video calls will be vastly improved. The display is fantastic - it’s bright, crisp, and expansive. I have to admit that I was not sure how I would feel about the notch and, quite frankly, I am still not sure. I can say that, generally speaking, it has not been a major annoyance/problem - it’s hidden in full screen and most of the apps I’ve used are able to handle the notch without issue. Touch ID remains fast and secure and you can’t beat the integration with your other iOS devices, including the ability to unlock your Mac with your apple watch. Mac OS Monterey is great - not a huge departure from Big Sur but will bring some welcome functionality, such as Universal Control. Battery life is very good, but not quite as impressive as the 13" M1 MacBook Pro and Air...but charing on the 14" is super quick. There’s no getting around that this is an expensive laptop but, if you have the budget, this laptop will undoubtedly provide you with many years of use.

    Well worth it...

Normally when I restored my MacBook Air M1 from an older MacBook Pro... it took about 1-2 hours to complete... this MacBook Pro M1 Pro took 35 minutes... it was amazingly fast... the screen quality is superb and the extra screen real estate is so delightful! I highly recommend the new MacBook Pros to Apple enthusiasts!

Also loaded Movavi and WOW my videos saved so quickly!

    The perfect laptop?

I've been a MacBook Pro user for well over a decade now and have been repeatedly disappointed with Apple's direction and revisions of their flagship laptop over those years. This version changes everything - I'm fully in love again. The resurrected ports, the much-improved keyboard, and even the remarkable spatial audio are all just the MINIMUM highlights for me - performance with the M1 Pro has been stellar, as well. And that notch? It's a tad odd, but it didn't take long at all for me to get used to it (and it does NOT interfere with your screen space - the entire menu bar is added and new screen space to the MacBook - technically a taller screen).

If you're in the market for a high-end laptop, there's no better choice - even at the entry level with this base model. Trust me.

    Almost Perfect

Let me preface this by saying, if you are not a power user, you will probably not notice the difference between this and the base M1 MacBook Pro. But if you look at the price of a regular M1 MacBook Pro with 16gb of RAM and a 512gb ssd, the price difference is $300. The increased screen size, high refresh rate screen, more ports, better webcam, no Touch Bar, and the M1 Pro is absolutely worth it.

Now onto the part where it's almost perfect. I still have to use a USB-C to USB adapter for the odd flash drive I need to use. Not a big deal but still inconvenient. Next is battery life. It will be less than the M1 but still very good. Now if you have a lot going on at once, you will notice that charge decrease very quickly. That leads into my biggest gripe but not huge. You only get the base charger. The nice part is that you can buy the charging brick that supports fast charging but it's like $90 and out of stock everywhere. It's not a slow charger by any means but it takes a while longer than my old 2019 i5 MacBook Pro did.

Okay summary time. If you do anything productivity based (video/music editing, programming, have a billion tabs open, running multiple displays) buy this base model 14" or any of the upgraded versions. You will notice a difference. If it's a Netflix machine or you spend most of your time just surfing the web, you waste your money over the regular M1 Macs. The best thing you can do too is get Totaltech offered by Best Buy because that made my AppleCare free and Geek Squad set it up during my appointment after my pickup.

Be aware! Screen Flickering out of the box!

Out of the box brand new with screen flickering on the top right corner near the battery bar.

Cannot upload video but it can be seen clearly from the pics.

Apple quality control used to be good but not anymore.

Brought it back for refund already.

    Pure. Efficient.

    Apple - Pre-Owned - MacBook Air - 13.3" Display - Intel Core i5 - 8GB Memory - 256GB Flash Storage
    Description

The 13.3" MacBook Air Laptop Computer (Early 2015) from Apple is an ultraportable notebook computer with a thin and lightweight design. Apple's engineers have leveraged the lessons they learned in designing the miniaturized iPad and applied them to the design of this 2.96-pound computer.

    5 Features
  • Display: The display measures a mere 4.86 millimeters (0.19 inch) thin, yet its resolution makes you feel like you're looking at a larger screen.
  • Trackpad: Multi-Touch trackpad is perfectly designed for them, whether it's a three-finger swipe to activate Mission Control or a four-finger pinch to see all your apps in Launchpad.
  • Memory: MacBook Air features 8GB of superfast, power-efficient 1600 MHz LPDDR3 memory.
  • Battery: Thanks to smaller components such as flash storage, Apple is able to allocate space for a bigger battery.
  • Thunderbolt 3: MacBook Air also comes equipped with two USB 3.0 ports so you can connect the latest USB 3.0 devices and all your USB 2.0 devices as well.

Had a few problems with the computer, but the geek squad at Best Buy showed me how to understand the new security and other new items on this computer, had to return quite a few times before I got the hang of how to use it..But everything worked out fine and I'm pleased with the results...

Computer works fine but noticeable damages

You get what you paid for, PRE-OWNED macbook. The software and the computer work great but it’s just the cosmetic damages to the computer that bothers me. I got a few dents on the top, a small scratch on the screen, and dents all around the edges. If you put a protective case then you won’t see it but it just truly bothered me. The worst part was that the charger they sent me with the computer was from a third party company and it didn’t even work. Went to a Best Buy store and they only offered me a discount on an OPEN BOX charger and costumer service only offered me a $25 gift certificate for a new one.

    Great, especially for being used.

I was a little skeptical of buying this, but I’m very glad I did! It is the perfect addition to all of my other Apple products and it works for exactly what I need. I’m not a big gamer so I can’t say how it works there, but it has a great cam so I can do Google Meets and FaceTime my family. I watch movies, download and play music, and use an adapter to download pictures from my SD card. When you consider how much you’re going to spend anyway, why not have something that connects with your other devices and makes your life easier? If I didn’t have all of my other Apple products I wouldn’t have bought it though.

    Does what I need

Being refurbished, I knew to expect some cosmetic damage and the only thing that could be bothersome to others is a slight scratch on the screen. Otherwise works well and can’t beat for the price!!!

Legit Monster and Real Pro tools!

Waited for long time for it. Waited for the mini-led, waited for the high-performance ARM chip especially for graphics. And all of these came true this year. Though didn't expect the unwanted notch.

The performance is really good! No more media optimization is needed to smoothly playback the 4k video or even 8K video during editing in Davinci Resolve or FCPX. Also tested on playing dota2, amazingly, with the highest picture quality, it steadily run on 60FPS and the fans are barely running!!

As for appearance! Tool should be the tool!

I do like the screen, and no word is needed here for the amazing XDR screen!

    Pro:

    - Very high performance that could compare with rtx 3080 while maintaining a very low power consumption.

    - Good battery life speaking to the given performance.

    - Very good screen with mini-led tech.

    - Very good sound quality.

    - Good webcam quality, but give a notch.

    Cons:

    - The apperance just got a little bit ugly than previous gen, but it's definitely ok

    - The notch!! (Would be hidden during full screen mode)

    - The M1 Max would be threshold after a while heavy duty. And overall M1 Max is only 40~60% more performance than M1 Pro, which is a little bit less than expected.

    - HDMI is only 2.0

Overall, if with budget, m1 pro 16 ram is highly recommended, but if you have the extra budget, go for m1 max, and you won't regret it.

    A real Tool for Pros

This unit is an absolute beast. I am so happy to have gone away from the butterfly keyboard and with the addition of having some ports back like HDMI and SD card support I am a very happy camper. (Yes I really disliked how apple got rid of them). Coming from a 2017 MacBook Pro the battery life and performance is simply amazing. For the first time in a long time I finally feel Apple has made a tool for pros. Yes it is a little thicker but that is a tradeoff I feel it is definitely worth. For the everyday user the standard M1 MacBook Air is more than enough but if you do any content creation, coding, or additional things in your workflow this is the best MacBook in a long time. (No the notch does not bother me)

The best Mac I have EVER owed. 100% worth upgradin

I’m a YouTube creator, Check me out on YouTube “StatueFanatic” so for me this is a game changer. Many creators like myself realize that having a machine that can help us with the time consuming task of editing, rendering and uploading our content is invaluable. I think this process alone discourages content creators from being consistent in publishing content, it’s just so darn time consuming. This machine is a game changer. I mean mind blowing in terms of how much time is saved. For example it’s excruciating to think about editing and publishing a video longer than 15min. Just 15 min could take 30-40 min to render, my Mac book M1 max cut this Down to 5MIN, yes 5 Min that’s insane. This has motivated me to create more content and brought a renewed joy to my passion. I CAN NOT recommend this machine enough. If you purchased last year’s top of the line Mac book pro, it’s worth upgrading to this. The boost in performance is worth it. And don’t get me started on the ports, finally apple listened, pro users need pro ports, thank you. I LOVE THIS UPGRADE.

The finest Apple machine in a decade.

Let's make this clear. This is not a pro machine the way I would like it, but as a powerhouse it may be the best fit for most creative and technological professionals.

From pure raw CPU and GPU power this really sets the bar high.

The beauty of content displayed on screen is unrivaled. The notch is not as annoying as reported.

Enough ports, the right ports that people actually want and use are all there.

    No gimmicky bars and doodads.

My only complaint is the continued wasteful engineering choice to unisolder all components to the logic board. This makes upkeep, repair and upgrades into an economical and resource waste.

    Fantastic Laptop

Best laptop that Apple has made since the 2015 MacBook Pros. Would highly recommend it to anyone. It has great battery life although not as good as what Apple claims. It also has excellent performance. Thunderbolt is such a useful port to have and having HDMI back is great. I do wish it had at least 1 USB type-A port as I don't like living the dongle life but I am adjusting to it.
