    Flagship quality, midrange price

This is probably the hands down best device I have used. Motorola has taken a huge step forward with their cameras and this is now competitive with the likes of $1000 samsungs and iphones. The battery is amazing, the screen is bright and easy to see outside, the camera is the best out there, and Ready For is a game changing feature.

The battery is 5000 mAh and is good for around a couple days of normal usage, I can get about 1.5 of heavy usage (playing pokemon Go, heavy messaging and photo taking, and using my hotspot). I couldn't imagine anyone killing this thing with anything remotely resembling reasonable use.

The display is 144 hz which makes things buttery smooth and is bright enough to see outside without trouble. I also love how Motorola went away from the curved display and to a flat one. It is better for durability and opens up more options for screen protectors

The camera is crazy good, way better than any other camera Motorola has included on any other device. Its an 108 mp Ultrapixel camera that takes amazing shots in most any light (see attached photos for samples). It is also flanked by an ultrawide (pulls double duty as a macro shooter as well) and a depth sensor for that nice depth of field effect in your portrait photos.

Ready For is honestly a game changing feature. it allows for a wired or wireless desktop experience on your device via either a smart tv (anything that works with with miracast) or a PC/Laptop via USB (you can even share your smartphones internet connection) or wirelessly over wifi. This is a great option for people who don't want to bring their work to a personal device or people who don't want to pay for a connected laptop or hotspot device while still having data.

Again, I can not recommend this device enough It is fast, there is no added bloat, the software is fast and clean. Whats not to love?

Great phone with very nice features

I caught this phone on sale and so far it's been a great phone! I love the long battery life and the fast charging. I love all the Moto gestures. The side power button finger print reader is great and very responsive too. The camera also takes really good pictures. And I love that it comes with plenty of storage to meet my needs. Overall, this is a great phone but even better if you can catch it on sale.

    Quality Phone

First off I got it on sale for the 500, and this phone is packing even with it being a LCD screen it's plenty bright, Motorola has such a simple layout with no bloatware on it. No expendable storage which is fine as it comes with 256gigs and 8gb of ram and a nice little hidden feature is the ram boost which shoots it up to 10gb of ram. The 144hz screen is definitely a plus and the steal of the show is the camera it has. I went from a OnePlus 8 to this and watching Netflix and such is definitely better and can see the screen better in the sunlight. The battery is huge and lasts well over a day on hardcore usage and then the 30watt charging gets you back up in a matter of minutes. Wouldn't buy at full price due to LCD screen but definitely a steal on sale.

    Great performing phone

Had this phone now for about a month. Overall for the price it's a very nice phone.

    Pros:

    Big screen very high quality.

    Big battery.

108 mega pix camera takes beautiful pics. The other cameras on the front and back are very nice as well.

    256 gigs of storage space.

    8 gigs of dedicated RAM.

    Very snappy processer.

    Cons.

    No 3,5 mm output support.

    No wireless charging.

    No SD micro slot.

Overall though the specs are really exceptional for the price. Samsung's comparable price phones are way less powerful as this phone. And the one that is is like 1200$ versus the 600$ plus tax on this one. Overall I am very happy.

This is a great phone, especially for the price. It just didn’t work on Verizon’s 5G UW Network. It worked on their 4G LTE just fine and calls were awesome. I knew this was a possibility going into it so I wasn’t too upset. All in all it’s a great phone.

Strongly recommended for phone photography, speed and storage.

Drawbacks: had difficulty transferring apps from old android to this. No dedicated app, google stock transfer app didn't seem to get it right with my Huawei mate 20 pro

    What a value!

One of the best values of the Cricket offerings. I bought for $99 and had the Best Buy guy activate it for me with a new number. Cricket is like the only prepaid left that will stream in HD on the Max plan (everyone else streams at DVD quality - check the fine print!) and it looks AWESOME on this huge screen. I've watched like 10 movies so far and couldn't be happier. I did run out of internal space pretty quickly so make sure you grab a microSD card which are pretty dirt cheap now a days. I like that Cricket is owned by AT&T and my coverage has been awesome so far. Even comes with a free case in the box!

    Needs more RAM

Great phone .. size is perfect, great phone over all (signal strength, volume, ergonomics, screen). However, due to the fact that it only has 2GB of RAM, switching from one app to another was taking too long. I think the 3GB version that Verizon and Boost would have have been OK. I had to return .. got a E5 Supra instead from Cricket .

If you are a light user.. I recommend!!

    G6 Forge Review

bought phone as a replacement phone after family member broke screen on previous phone. phone performs well as designed by motorola despite the excessive amount of bloatware that Cricket pre-loaded onto the phone.

family member takes alot of pictures and so far (3 weeks of use) all pictures have come out clear and crisp without problem.

on the down side, since motorola created the moto g6 in several sizes for different vendors and markets, finding a quality, durable case has become a challenge as the moto g6 forge is slightly different size that the g6 or g6+ or g6 power. (it does come with a basic slip-on clear case.)

    Good phone

Ordered this to replace a moto e5 . This is actually a bit smaller, though functions are identical. All the buttons are in the same place, ring volume, on/off....

Yes I would recommend this as a easy phone to use.

The circle on the front tells you how much battery power is left, or if charging how much charge in percents. This is helpful to me as I can tell how much battery power is left simply by glancing at the home screen.

    excellent buy.

I have not owned a high end smart phone in several years so the reader must take that into consideration.

First, this phone is better in every way than a high end phone of ten years ago.

Second, the battery life is outstanding.

Third, the voice quality is very good.

Fourth, the screen is clear and large.

Fifth, coverage through TMobile is excellent.

    Sixth, settings are easily manipulated.

    OTOH:

I use the camera as an afterthought. My adult daughter uses her high end Apple phone's camera quite seriously. It is obvious that her camera and her technique are much better than mine. But I have no technique. My wife, using this phone, gets better photos than I. I am attaching a photo of the Austin skyline taken yesterday from south Austin.

Conclusion - this was a great buy for me, and would be for most people.

    Moto Power Great Job

Only used this phone for a few weeks and so far it does exactly what I purchased it for "POWER". The battery last a little longer than my flagship Hauwei Mate 9 and Samsung Note 9 phones. I was skeptic about the size of the phone so to having a larger battery, but trust me it not bad at all especially with a phone case cover. The Camera is decent and the phone runs rather smooth. I purchased this phone to replace my daughter's galaxy S6 and the only complaint she have is that the screen is bigger than her small galaxy S6. I recommend this phone to a parent looking to get a phone for a kid or a person who travels a lot and don't want to spend a ton. You will be very pleased.

    Great phone and value!!

This is a solid phone and takes pretty good pictures. I got a Spigen tough armor case on and love it! The battery life here is also amazing. I was looking at this phone vs Blu and One Plus. Glad I went this direction and it's an easy recommendation for anyone looking for an android phone in this price range.

    Powerhouse, with superb battery life

I was looking to replace my previous flagship device earlier in the year and ended up getting a good deal on a Motorola Ace 5G (2021) and this was my first experience with Motorola since I had a bright pink Moto Razr V3i back in the day. I was so taken by how well built the phone was, and how stable it was that I decided to buy my wife a G-Stylus (2021) and she felt the same way about hers. Given both positive experiences, I decided to give my parents back home overseas an upgrade for their aging devices and so I bought two of these G-Powers (2021).

I did the basic setup before shipping the devices, and they set up their customizations and preferences. My mom is in her 50's and my dad in his 60's, they both had no trouble whatsoever getting their devices the way they liked them. They both reported to me they much prefer their newer devices over their old ones, and both had stand out features.

For my mom, she works 6 days a week. She is a carer both residential, and also hired out by different care homes across the county. As such, she'll often do 24 hour work days with sleep in on site, so battery life is imperative. This device definitely performs, and leaves her old flagship device standing wondering what happened.

For my dad, his favourite part of the phone is the screen. It's bright, vibrant and large. It's built to a great quality. He also enjoys how fast the device is.

I bought these devices unlocked without activation, both activated and worked correctly with UK cell provider (3UK) on 5G.

Moto g 9th generation is top of the line.

I got it while it was on sale. Always a plus. I'm enjoying the bigger screen. Overall Motorola has been very good to me. The only drawback is that there is no screensaver that goes over the top. I have to wipe off my ears sweat. Small price to pay. A plus plus on the camera.

A simple phone with great battery life.

This is the second unlocked Moto G phone purchased in 2021.

The first was the Moto G stylus 5G. If compared to Stylus 5G, this phone is a lot lesser phone. It doesn't feel like they are in the same family. I had hoped it would be similar to Stylus 5G in capability, minus super large internal memory, smaller screen, 5G, Android 11, and a stylus. There is much more differences.

But with that said, the phone was purchased for a person who does not need a great phone but great battery life. That this phone does very well. Almost all the stars are for the battery life. The biggest disappointment was the camera. It is a pretty simple offering especially compared to the Stylus 5G.

The other big plus is Moto gestures are really convenient.

Finally, if you need an unlocked phone this fits quite well. But begs the question are the lesser cost Moto G a better value if they still canget 3 day battery life over the Moto G Power

Great phone, Great value @ 5G

I had this phone for a week and has been excellent, fast, reliable, no bloated apps, 5G in 90% of the places I have been, regular updates, battery life, enough memory and expandable memory, Qualcomm chip, I love Moto's phone, been with them since early, to the smartphones now, X4, to the G Powers, compared to over $1K phones, for what I do, txt, apps, phone calls, is worth it, I only play games, movies, etc. once in a while, when I have too. But this phone is great for me for I do 90% of the time. I know is not the same Moto it was before, since is owned by Lenovo, but still heading to the right direction.

    Its awesome...Ignore the snobby experts!

I went to bed last night with 70% battery left!!!

Its not a thousand dollar phone and should not be judged as such so ignore the snobby experts who compare it to something much more unaffordable.

Im upgrading from a S7 edge that I have owned for 3 years. Its snappy fast in comparison, has a great screen, and battery life is so amazing. Most people just want a reliable phone where they dont have to bother about being attached to the charger like this one. The snobby experts suggest buying the more expensive Big Tech Google Pixel which doesnt have as good as a battery and no SD card. No thank you. I love this and I am ordering another phone for my wife. And if you live in Oklahoma City... Mint mobile is crazy cheap without a contract and provides great 5G! 60mpbs down and 50mbps up. Thats Mint mobile using the T mobile towers by the way.

    Unlocked is Way To Go.

One of the best ways to beat the high cost of monthly cell phone cost, is to buy a unlocked phone. You can find good phones for well under 500 dollars. Then just take your phone to a high quality prepaid carrier and pay 40 dollars a month, with no hidden fees.

I upgraded from a Samsung S6 that I paid 700 dollars for in 2016, but just 40 dollars a month for service, After phone outlay, my monthly mobile cost stay low. The Motorola 5g Ace is a bargain at 399. So kick those cell phone blues to the curb, and buy yourself a unlocked phone at Best Buy.

A business phone..for the ages under $400 bucks.

Ok, Pros..Large Bright Screen, Super Fast Snappy Processor, suitable for 5 spreadsheets open at once and your stock tickers in trade mode with both Teams and Outlook running in the background as fast and as good as any phone that costs a grand. Battery lasts for 2 days avg use and 3 on standby...maybe the best 5000 mili Amp skam. diagram for power consumption I have seen. 128 on board, 5g, aux jack and micro SD slot...Please Phone snobs should have their heads examined. You can game Call of Duty with no lag or Freeze for 12hrs or more on one charge.

Cons Only Ok Camera, Poor Macro, No Zoom. plastic body, no Gorilla Glass, ships with Android 10. Mono Speaker.

For $279 bucks this is the best mid range 5g phone you can buy. It doesn't need Super AMOLD or 90k refresh rates..and neither do you. This LCD delivers a hi res crisp ppi that is bright enough for most situations. The speaker is mono but loud enough to fill your board room. Also no phone can deliver true stereo because in order to do that the channels need to be further apart than any phone can place the speakers, Look it up. Try it..Add a quality case, a set of ear buds or head phones and you just saved $600 over the cost of that Galaxy.

Nice phone-works with Verizon post troubleshooting

    I upgraded from and unlocked G7 to the unlocked Moto One 5g Ace. This phone has exceeded my expectations;

    1) The screen is great - extremely sharp resolution

    2) Very snappy and smooth - no hiccups

    3) Cameras are fine, at least multiple times better than the G7

4} Battery life is pretty good, though time will tell.

Now for Verizon - As many complained, text messaging did not work initially so I went to a Verizon store. The rep talked to a Verizon engineer who fixed the issue, but that fix disabled phone calls. Another call to the Verizon engineer fixed that as well.

This is a Verizon issue, not a phone issue, so if you purchase an unlocked phone and experience these problems, go to your local Verizon store for a fix before returning the phone.

Best Buy requires a $45 restocking fee which is a bad deal. However I needed the phone right away so I took the chance. Next time, I would order directly from Motorola.

In summary, at the $349 sale price this is a good phone. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Replaced my Moto G5 plus (a workhorse)

I wanted lots of memory (RAM, storage, expandability), long battery life, a headphone jack. I also have an expectation to be able to get these at a reasonable price. The Moto One 5G Ace met all of these expectations.

The cameras are not a concern for me. Call quality is very good. Aside from communication services, I primarily use my device for multimedia and connectivity for that purpose. Audio is primary, with video-casting secondary. I rarely watch video on the device, but picture quality is fine.

I use USB-On-the-Go for additional (media) storage, so having a USB-C port (primarily used for charging) is also key.

I would have preferred a smaller package, even with slightly reduced battery capacity. I have never been a fan of the ever-growing size of "cell phones", this is at the maximum size for my pockets.

I am quite satisfied with my purchase.

I purchased this phone two months ago and it is okay overall i am a iphone person but i needed a device until my next payday and this device has definitely been a life saver. The memory is great i have 130 apps on it currently. I only rate 4 stars due to the durability. When i bought the phone it felt heavy and seemed really durable. But already my screen is cracked and now i a im starting to have glitching issues after only dropping it one time. Yes its my fault but the device was not high enough from the ground to now be totally shattered. im purchasing

a new device ASAP especially when i had a screen protector on it as well!! overall reliable fast network unlocked and dual sim.

Love my 2021- great bang for the buck!

    I really LOVE my 2021 motog7play

It's fast, a little larger then the previous product but not to big I can't fit it I'm my pocket or use a phone stand. Becareful ordering an accessories or the case and screen cover because if you don't specify the 2021 version it won't be the right size cuz again it's different size it's a little bit larger.

The only complaint that I would have is that anytime I try to move my thumb from right to left it goes back to the previous page that it was on so it's been very very hard to get used to that there's no back button

He encouraged me to accept the changes, but kept a few like the bottom buttons so I wouldn't be totally lost. Runs on. I had an additional memory card that helps functions. I love the fingerprint feature. I haven't been able to figure out how to adjust the camera zoom on the selfie mode. Will go back to the geek squad for assistance.

    Fingerprint sensor not responsive

My previous phone was also a Moto G7 Power, about two years old. This phone is a good replacement and just a bit larger than my older one. I have only one complaint with it, but since I use this feature multiple times a day it's important. The fingerprint sensor that I use to unlock the phone and use to " log in" to many apps is on the side of the phone and much narrower than the round sensor on the back of the old phone. The old sensor recognized my fingerprints nearly 100% of the time. This phone recognizes my print the first time about a third of the time. I have reset the fingerprint setting twice now in order to make it more responsive, but it still doesn't work that well. That is my only complaint. If you don't lock your phone use the fingerprint sensor to "log in" you will have no problem. If you do, go the for the model lower.

    My most favorite phone yet.

I only use phones for the basics.

    Texts/calls, emails, Youtube, music/podcasts.

In this regard, it works fine.

I loathe gaming on phones, besides the time killing card game/tower defense game.

It seems to run older more demanding 3D games fine, but like I said, I'm not a good judge of gaming on phones.

It's a bit tall, was very weird at first, never had a phone with this form factor. Also, it was hard to find a protective case.

I don't like the edge detection stuff. It's very sensitive and annoying, almost always have trouble with it.

    The camera is nothing special.

Not a photographer, just record things on occasion, maybe take a few pics.

Pics are nice, video is meh.

Why do I like this phone so much then?

The battery life is the main winner:

My goodness, you can almost go two full days with the thing.

As long as you don't leave Youtube on at night [playing sleep music or audiobooks], you can safely go a day without charging it.

For the price, I have been very happy with the battery life, compared to older budget phones.

This was considered a spurge purchase to me, and I feel it was worth it.

That's all I want, just keep going for me phone.

At budget price, I've seen nothing like it.

Web surfing is smooth enough, and the default 32GB storage is great, haven't had much storage issues, considering my usage.

I'm just very happy with this phone, and this will be the standard to any other phone I own afterwords.

Not bad for a budget phone, but a downgrade

I mean it's a cheap phone so I should say you get what you pay for but they could've done slightly better than this. Apparently the hardware was a bit of a downgrade from the 2020 edition. The battery life is amazing, but at times has struggled to run multiple apps i.e. Spotify running in the background while playing Pokemon Go. I had to get this phone as a holdover while waiting for the new ones to come out in the next few months. If you are on a tight budget then this phone is perfect but if your goal is a solid quality phone without breaking the bank, then I would go up to around the 400 dollar range.

    Amazing deal for the money

It is a great phone for the price. The battery will last all day, and the screen is really good, of course not compared to today's flagships but you know you should be expecting that when you get a mid-range device. Camera is pretty good, could use a bit more digital image stabilization but once again that's something you get on flagships and not on mid-range so I will overall say this is a 4 out of 5 device and this is my second one I've purchased. Now for those that don't know Motorola is owned by Lenovo, after briefly being owned by Google so they learned some things and it seems like they're doing a great job.

A power pack with lower-mid value

I am using it for over a month now. Very clean home screen; mostly default apps. Motorola usually does not put many of their own apps on these phones and makes them heavy.

Decent camera quality. Don't get overwhelmed with a 48 MP rear camera and start comparing it with Samsung A32 or similar phones. But have general AI settings (Auto smile capture, Shot optimization, etc.) in it which makes the camera useful for amateurs. Also includes regular photo features for Motorola (portrait, night vision, cinematograph, live filter, etc.). But the 8 MP front camera is a little disappointing, although it has a group selfie option.

The best feature is the battery. With heavy use on social media (capturing and uploading almost 100 pictures), watching 11.5-2 hour video and web browsing, it gave me about 40 hours of usage. Best value for the price.

This phone is easily the BEST budget android phone it has everything you need with nothing you don't need I always buy the g power phones and this one is the best yes

    -great qquality

    -amazing value

    -LONG battery life

On that battery life I use my phone all day long sometimes constantly playing games , browsing the internt and social media , sending texts , and calling for long periods of time and this phones easily lasts 24 hours on a full charge usually more ,you could probably get 2-3 days if you used it as normal it is a very useful feature. Also all the usual camera fingerprint sensor and screen are very good , lacking tho is the speakers and I'm just talking about watching videos or movies and what not they could be a willed more powerful and maybe off another one for that full sterio experience , they actually calling speaker is great

    nice

Take my review with a grain of salt. I had to upgrade my decade old htc One. I tell you what, that phone was a complete trooper. It had been dropped on pavements, on bricks, in puddles of water and today it chugs on. It dies at a 70% charge and heats up often and so i knew it was best to part ways. This device is awesome. I only use it to call and text and when my tablet is charging, i will use it for Rumble or YT. Also, i did not charge this phone until it was at 16% and that took 3 days. I hope it lasts me a decade!

I also purchased the sahara case. It feels super durable. With this case, the phone is well protected.

Disappointed! Brand new unopened phone got delivered about an hour ago and stylus is already stuck! Won't go in, won't come out. I am with a 90year old client. Can't leave her to do an exchange in store. I call best buy, and the line is so bad and calls keep dropping. Am just frustrated!

No need to pay top dollar for "flagship" phone

I bought this to replace my wife's old Moto Force 2 Droid, which she loved for its excellent reception and didn't want to give up, but it had issues and had become totally unreliable. Since she hates change and is not exactly the most tech-savvy person in the neighborhood I figured sticking with Moto would give more consistency in the user interface.

I wanted something at a reasonable price with a decent camera, longest possible battery life, good phone/Internet reception in remote areas, not too much larger than the Force 2, and hopefully a processor that would keep things moving along at a decent clip. Even staying within the Moto lineup there is a bewildering array of choices that meet or come close to providing all these.

While she will probably never use the stylus, the G7 Stylus came closest to checking off all the boxes. Sure, there are phones with better specs out there but for a non-power user who needs reliable reception and decent camera, this phone was perfect. Since 5G is so slow in rolling out I stuck with the 4G version so I expect battery life will be excellent, at least for the first year or so.

She had to go out of town the day after the purchase and was sure she would not be able to do anything other than text if she was lucky. She called the next day and was excited to report she didn't have any problems figuring out any of the functions. She says the camera is wonderful - she says the colors just "pop." She's had it over a week now and can read her Kindle books all day with a lot less glare than her old phone, take tons of photos, text, IM and talk on the phone for hours and at day's end she still has at least 58% battery. With 128GB she shouldn't even need an SD card...at least for now.

I can't really comment on quality yet as I only had a few hours during set-up to check it out. Voice quality sounds good and the phone seemed sturdy but only time will tell. So only 4 stars for now on that but quite likely it will turn out to be higher, especially given the price. Since its a fairly new model it was a pain finding a screen protector and case to fit on such short notice but that should change soon.

I could have easily spent hundreds more for "specs" and features that many of us don't understand, appreciate or use and not have gotten such a delighted response. She LOVES her G7 Stylus - happy wife, happy life.

    A great phone salesman.

I came in to Best Buy on 1/14/21. I dealt with a salesman named Nicholas Pando. He took his time with me going over the features of various phones. He found one for me that was comparable to my old phone. I needed to think about it overnight. I went back in on Friday morning 1/15/21 and bought the phone. He then proceeded to transfer my data from the old phone to the new one. He was patient and took his time with me, í would urge others to deal with him. His kindness was great.

Hello Moto. Thank You for My Moto G Play.

I first bought the phone in June. I usually buy prepaid phones under $100.00. I was drawn to the specs and the color Misty Blue. The very next day, I dropped the phone in a New York City train station. Not a scratch on it. Performance unwavering.

I use my cell phone for everything. & Motorola Has Me Bossed Up.

Well worth the value of my expense.

& I just updated my phone to Android 11 last night. Motorola Android has made my connectivity effortless.

Data Saver & Battery Saver keep me going all day interactively with Phone, Spotify, Email & Texting.

Camera works exceptionally well while scanning QR codes.

The only stylus phone in its category

TL:DR: Solid overall phone, a tad overpriced BUT if you want the stylus it is the only affordable option.

Setting aside the stylus, the Moto is a decidedly mid-range phone. The CPU is decently fast although some brief lag is noticeable at times (but it doesn't feel like a 'slow' phone). The screen is clear, but viewing angles are only so-so and the contrast is definitely not among the best LCD. I personally like that it is LCD as there is no risk of burn in if this phone is used to display static images or used as a driving .GPS for example. The speaker is not great, its a single speaker and not especially loud. The case is beautiful and the emerald green plastic looks very premium. Fingerprint sensor works flawlessly. Cameras are 'ok' but not competitive with more expensive phones. The lack of OIS means in anything other than bright light there is a risk of blurry shots. Still, nothing much to complain about here. with 3 cameras and a depth sensor the 4-pack on the back suggests a far more expensive phone.

Battery life has been good, but not as good as I'd expect with a huge 5000mah battery. Weirdly, according to Accubattery mine never charges to full capacity and tops out around 4650mah. That might be the app or it might be the battery really isn't able to take a full charge. In either case, the culprit seems to be the Moto display which constantly wakes up the screen and results in some idle drain. Overall though, this is in the top tier of battery life phones. Charging takes a bit longer than expected, but again given the size of the battery this is expected. No wireless charging support in the Stylus 5g, but honestly I don't mind as charging a battery this size via induction charging is not idea anyway. No NFC either, if that matters to you.

Call quality is quite good (yes, people still call on the phone) and bluetooth, wifi, and 5g all seem to perform well.

So overall, as a phone, the Stylus 5g is a decent entry-level phone with no major complaints.

Now, the whole reason to get this over a considerably less expensive phone is the stylus. So how is that? Well, its also entry level. The phone has no palm or touch rejection meaning any stray touch will be recorded as a pen stroke. That makes for awkward drawing and note taking. The sensitivity is not especially high either, and there is no pressure sensitivity, so the pen experience is better than no pen, but only just. It stores nicely in the phone body and has a very pleasing clicky top. The phone will warn you if you leave the pen behind which is nice. Moto has put some pen features in the phone, but with some weird omissions like the screen shot annotation app has no eraser function.

I don't mean this in a bad way, but this is the worse pen experience you are likely to have on a pen-capable device. Still, it is worlds better than no pen....if you need a pen. This is good for using as a navigation tool (very satisfying), for some screenshot annotations, simple doodling, and scratching out a quick note. it is NOT a drawing or sketching or fine writing stylus.

At the offered price, this is a 3 star phone, the stylus is worth an extra point. As of this review, the Stylus 5g is now the only new 2021 phone that comes with an included pen. Samsung has discontinued the Note line, and its S21 and Fold 3 both support the SPen, but have no place to store it.

Good mid-level price phone, but not perfect

I'm a fan of Motorola because of their affordable phones and quality build. My last phone, the Moto G2 Play, lasted me a good 4 years before I decided to upgrade to a new 5G model. The only 2 things my last phone was missing was internal space and because it no longer received any security updates. (Both negative for Android fans). Out of all Motorola phones at the time of release, this one had 2 things I wanted my next phone to have - 1) Larger internal space (for all the apps that seem to update weekly) and at least the current version of Android. The Stylus and 5G were just extra good extra options to have.

I only have 3 complaints. 1) According to AT&T, even though I live in a 5G area, I DO NOT get a 5G signal. EVER. Even when I've driven within a 45 minute radius, my phone has yet to get a 5G connection which is disappointing. As a pre-paid plan fan, AT&T only offers 1 pre-paid 5G plan, which compared to my 4G plan, costs $25 MORE when you add your credit card to the site. Without it, it would cost $35 more. Yes, more things come with this plan, but the fact is, I'm still paying more for the same 4G service on a phone that's supposed to get 5G speeds. AT&T mentioned they sell the same model at their stores, but it has a different serial number, so I'm not sure if I would've purchase this phone at their stores, it would've made a difference. But they do have a system update specifically for the model they sell and not mine. They tried to push the update to my phone, but it made no difference. I understand with all the carriers, AT&T (and other carriers) have yet to roll out a "true" 5G network. So if you get a stronger 4G signal than 5G, you'll get 5G service. I don't know if iPhone or Samsung customers have the same experience in my area because my friends all still have 4G phones.

Battery life is pretty good on this phone. Light use will get you 2-3 days, but I also turn my phone off at night. When the phone first powers on, you will not get any calendar or other alerts you setup on the phone until you actually sign into the phone the first time you turn it on. The load screen is 4 times longer than my old phone which is odd. There is no NFC or fast charge (which my old phone also had). And I don't really use the stylus. Honestly, if they eliminated the stylus and 5G and added NFC and fast charge, this would be the perfect phone for me. Then by the time it was time to upgrade from this phone, maybe 5G will be working in my area to spend more on a 5G phone. On the plus side, there's the 256GB space for all your apps so there's enough space for the constant updates Android apps seem to be notorious for. (Especially any Google apps related.) The camera is ok for taking basic pictures, but obviously not as great as those found on more expensive Android and iPhones.

Overall, this phone is a good deal for a mid-level phone. My advice is if your looking to upgrade to a 5G phone, make sure, from someone you know who has the same carrier that it works in your area. Otherwise, stick with 4G models that offer 128GB space and has at least Android 10. Or if you can wait a year or so to finally roll out but don't want to pay extra for that 5G plan, you can always keep your 4G plan until 5G is better in your area.

    Good for the price

Keep in mind, this phone does not exactly work with the Verizon networks. I have it on Google Fi and it work so well! Anyways, this is a good phone for the price. It has some really good features. For one, it has a good processor and a great amount of storage. The screen is very nice, bright and colorful. The emerald color on it is stunning! That’s the first thing people notice when they look at it. The fingerprint reader is fast and convenient. The stylus is made of metal and feels solid to the touch. The battery life is GREAT and it lasts a long time. One last big feature: it DOES have a headphone jack!

However…it is missing some features. It does not have wireless charging, fast charging, an OLED screen, or multiple speakers. The charging is capped low and cannot do true fast charging. The screen is good, but it is not an OLED and it is capped at 60Hz. The loudspeaker is mediocre at best and the stylus is not like the Samsung S Pen which has actual functions. The stylus is simply a smaller version of the universal ones you can get at almost any retailer, but it does work very well. The cameras are okay, but the Macro lens especially could use some work. For a good Android phone, it’s a decent replacement for most. But if you’ve had an OLED, you will be missing that frequently.

The biggest selling points are this:

    Well-built

    Nice color

    Headphone jack!

    Very fast with good specifications

Lots of built-in storage with room for expandable memory as well.

    Huge battery!!

    Fingerprint scanner

    5G

    List of major cons:

    No wireless charging

    No OLED

    No fast charging

    Single mediocre loudspeaker

Stylus is not electronic, but a scaled down universal stylus

    Cameras are just “okay”

Moved from Samsung S21 Ultra and never going back!

I was a tad hesitant, as an avid Samsung consumer, to make the switch. Understandably people use their phones in their own way. For me, it's business so I can't go too much into gaming / social media side, however, if you are looking for a phone that will allow you to conduct business (MS apps, split screen, text, video conf, etc.) then look no further.

I have had all manner of Samsung premium lines, MS Surface Duo and Apple Pro...I honestly am the happiest with this silly little Moto G Stylus 5G (256GB) version. I say this specific version because Motorola names their phones a bit confusing. Finding a case that has a built in card / wallet is near impossible (spoiled with Spigen as they cater to the more mainstream). Additionally, since I was so used to Samsung's Smart Switch that clones the old to new phone missing feature I opted for the $15 fix of getting a usb-c to usb-c data transfer cable off Amazon.com. Those two issues aside, no complaints with the actual phone.

Moto gestures I love love love. The 'turn like a door knob' to initiate camera, or 'shake' for flashlight, 3-fingertip touch for screen capture, 'back and forth line' to split screen...just outstanding!

The intuitive nature of Google and how it operates in Moto OS is making my life so much easier. Ex: real time texting via my laptop in Google browser via Google messages (free and instant to set up), when I type a time / date it a text, I'm automatically asked if I'd like to add it into my calendar, and so forth.

Battery life is insanely amazing. I can finally go almost 36 hrs. between charges. When I'm working / past phones I couldn't make it 12 hrs...so for me this is a game changer when I'm putting in my 18 hr. days!

Lastly, thank you Motorola for not doing away with expandable SD memory!!! I can't tell you how much this is still needed even with cloud computing / back up there are so many programs / apps I have to have physically on my phone and for me anything smaller than 512GB total is just not an option.

A Price Conscious Phone with Pizzazz.

Most Moto G phones are price conscious phones that still deliver a great set of features. The Moto G Stylus has a large, crisp screen, a great camera, and an overall solid feel. The colored (Emerald for mine) case has a cool black, yet colored look giving the phone some pizzazz. And of course, the unique feature of this phone is the Stylus that pops in and out of the bottom of the phone. The stylus allows for scribbling notes and drawing pictures. It is also great to use as a 'mouse' pointer/clicker on the phone when you want a little more control than the fat finger can give.

The 5g works decently with Metro / T-Mobile network in Los Angeles/Inland Empire and Orange County. I get reception in the middle of a large building (reception slows down speed). Screen is good.

I've owned the Moto g7 plus for a bit over a week, and think I've learned enough to give it a preliminary review. This phone gets most things right, but a few (mostly minor) are tragically wrong. Compared to all phones I've played with, I give it a B- . Compared to other phones in it's price range, I give it an A-, maybe a straight A.

First, this is a budget phone (currently $120 USD unlocked) and should be judged accordingly. It's spec are among the best for sub-$200 phones, and it mainly delivers on those specs. Frustratingly, where it falls short has nothing to do with compromising to hit a price point, but pure sloppy decisions. I'll do praises first, then the digs.

First, the fit and finish is fantastic. It does not look or feel like a cheap phone at all, and is a delight to hold. The screen is bigger, faster, and brighter than anyone should expect. Viewing outside in medium sun from an angle wasn't a problem. The sound is close to the best I've ever heard on a phone. The stereo Dolby speakers sound as good as you could hope, it's a pleasure to listen to music without my earbuds.

The OS is remarkably clean. Aside from a few Google apps you might not want, there is zero bloatware, that's a real blessing. Motorola's own software is brilliant, and you will want to use it. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth both set up with no problem (though that's probably due more to Android 10 than Motorola). The guts under the hood give you good speed (Asphalt 9 runs fine, albeit with eye candy turned down) and better than average battery life (though not as good as it's stablemate, the g7 power). Speaking of power, the turbo USB-C charger is the bomb. I was able to go from drained to 80% in 30 min.

Lastly, on the good side, the rear-facing cameras are plenty good enough for most uses. (and if you're looking for a pro level cam, look elsewhere).

Like I said, LOTS to like in this phone. Now to the dark side.

While the rear cameras aren't bad for a budget phone, the front (selfie) camera is virtually broken. The depth of field settings don't work as advertised, and everything beyond about 4 feet is blurred. This seems like a stupid problem that should have been solved with a simple tweak.

Next bonehead move, memory. 4 GB ram, 64 GB storage (expandable to 1 TB w/SD card) sounds really good. Except it's not. While you can store up to 1 TB on an SD card, you can only use it for media files. For apps, you're hard locked to 64 GB (actually about 50 GB useable, the OS takes a chunk). That is remarkably stupid, and avoidable. For many years, most phones that had an SD slot could use that storage for apps (especially ones you didn't need often). Even older, more primitive Motorola phones, including the g6 and g7 lines. 64 GB might be plenty of apps for most people, but not for all, and letting you put apps on an SD is just basic phone tech these days. This is an unforced error that didn't save Motorola a penny.

The cord on the charger is unfortunately short. One more foot would have made a difference.

The phone has only minimal water resistance. I live in a wet climate, so more would have been better, but again you get what you pay for.

Protection brings me to my last point, and the one that irks me the most, but has nothing to do with the phone itself.

There is no case for this phone, not anywhere on the planet, if you have the version with the "racetrack", or oval phone, the best you can do is an approximation that will never quite fit. This is especially infuriating because earlier iterations of this phone came with a simple clear shock case. Plenty for most people, and probably costs 80 cents to make. I sometimes am rough with my phones, and if I had known this ahead of time it would have been a show-stopper. I need to use my phone as a tool, not baby it like a hothouse orchid.

So in sum, it's really a very good phone for the money, with some features that only show up at triple the price. I am very happy with the phone itself, but the lack of a case is a serious hinderance for me. If your use will mostly be inside, this might be a non-issue, and you can enjoy a way better than average phone that punches out of it's weight class.

And remember, I'm just an ordinary Joe, with my own opinions.

There's a learning curve for a first time user

Phones have come a long way from the days of a phone that had a single function -- to make and answer telephone calls. This is my first smart phone. I bought it because so many businesses now use a smart phone to access various offerings (you can pay by phone, have coupons on your phone, have a boarding pass on a phone, and on some cruise ships a cell phone will function as a super key card for opening a cabin door and making purchases onboard). The Moto G7 plus is beautiful and versatile and packed with a lot more stuff than I want or need and that's my only complaint -- I spend hours trying to learn what all those little icons stand for, and trying to make the phone do what I want it to do and look the way I want it to look but then, without warning, something else pops up that I didn't ask for and my attempts to get it off the screen take me to yet another screen that I didn't want to go to. A month from now I may feel that it is an always needed personal device, but the learning curve is annoying for now.

Great phone and a great price

For $150 sale price it’s one of the best deals out there. The sound quality when using voice is incredible. I like the fact that it has a spot on the Sim card tray for a microSD card for expanded memory beyond the built in 64 GB for extra storage

    G7+ in a REVVEL+ Form

This arrived as a T-Mobile REVVEL+ body a with a OVAL camera. Phone has the specifications and phone information of a Motorola G7+ phone. (In Android settings) NOT a round camera - View images of a REVVL+ Read in tech forums that Motorola made some combined one-off phone combo phone as the G8 was to be the new G model. Very strange. Great deal for the phone and performance. You MUST buy a phone case for a REVVEL+

    Very Nice

I decided to ditch my landline since AT&T now charges an outrageous monthly cost for a phone I rarely use. I bought the Motorola Moto G7 plus as a back-up phone and switched the landline number to this phone. I was hesitant to get rid of the landline, but I am very happy with this phone! I bought it on sale and I think it was a great deal. It has been pretty easy for me to get used to this phone. I like the display. I like the sound on this phone better than my Sony smart phone & my galaxy s4 tablet. This phone has a slick finish and seems to "travel" on its own and slipped off a table a few times. It took those falls quite well. Very sturdy phone. I haven't used the camera much and can't really comment on it. I am glad that I bought this phone.

    Good Phone. Some Disappointments.

I was pretty happy to get this phone for the price I did considering it's a Moto E 2020. Unfortunately, this phone was Released in 2014, so I'm unable to Trade it in at all. I wish it had USB-C Charging and access to the Battery. All that aside, it's a good phone for a budget buy. It has many great features that I enjoy. The swiping aspect took some getting used to. Definitely worth it if you're interested in a phone that can cater to your basic needs.

Good overall phone quality. I would recommend this phone over a Samsung any day of the week. Have had several of the Moto phones and the lifespan of this phone is a star5. The previous Samsung phones I have purchased didn't last a third of the time my Motorola phone purchases have lasted.

    Perfectly Functional

I wanted a low-maintenance phone for work and got exactly that. Naidelyn and Neil were very helpful and offered a slight discount due to the difficulty in scanning the phone's barcodes (they're really small, it was understandable). Setup at home was mostly a breeze and everything worked in the end, I recommend writing down everything you do because at one point I almost got locked out of my Verizon account. Since I only use it briefly each day to check work accounts for a few minutes at a time, it takes four days for this phone to go down to 50% battery. Memory is about average, uninstall some of the bundled apps to get a bit more room.

Not bad but overly complicated and lots of extra b

Not the best but good enough for me.i really liked the moto 5 play I bought for 50.00 dollars 2 yrs ago but it is not available to buy anymore.can be found online for 3 times the cost.the moto go is worthless to me it doesn't enable wifi calling which I need due to poor cell service at home.the moto play worked great.this phone is okay but the Windows 10 platform is very hard to learn and makes no sense to why you have to do more with gestures and swipes to achieve less.the phone is extra sensitive and just by picking it up opens many unwanted windows.had to buy a case and protector because it is very slippery and I get very frustrated navigating through the options I really want to stomp on it.glad I don't use it much because it really isn't a well designed practical design.if it ever was tested before it was put in production I hope all the testers are doing something else for a job.breathing under water would be a good job recommendation.calls quality is good bluetooth works great.speaker is loud and battery lasts all day no problem at all.some settings can even tell me to go to sleep and offers to do other really off the wall things.why anyone would need such a reminder leaves me speachless and honestly insulted.to each his own though just wish I could get a basic need phone to use without supervision or suggestions.for example, make and receive phone calls,a camera, video recorder, calculator, calenders, contact list, flashlight, gps navigating that's all I need.it is what it is.

Too many new extra steps . Liked my old motto phone better. Cannot figure why this phone is Soo touch sensitive. Phone would have worked better if the Best Buy associate activated it properly. It was a headache for an elderly 75 yrs. Person to activate and load contacts and messaging and the phone programs itself.

Had this phone for about 2 weeks and so far it suits its purpose for me. Jonathan at the store was great about setting it up and helping me transfer everything. The swiping is slightly different than my old phone, but that doesn't make a difference. Holds the charge. I was in and out of Best Buy within 1/2 hour!

    Great condition, perfectly adequate phone

Phone appears pristine - didn't have the original box but looks perfect otherwise. Seems like a solid and competent phone. I haven't used it much since I got it as a secondary/back-up phone and it's been perfectly adequate for that. Battery life seems really good and it is happy to sit on standby for days, it's got a powerful enough CPU and sufficient RAM to be fairly quick, and the limited storage can be padded with an SD card. It's not the lightning-fast machine my main phone is, but that's not what I got it for. For an inexpensive phone I'm quite happy with it.

    Great Motorola Phone!

So for the last 10 years, I have been mostly an Apple user. However, my work phone has always been an Android. And I've always liked Android phones. My current work phone is a Galaxy note 9. And I like it. I decided I wanted to make a switch for my personal phone. However I did not want to buy a Galaxy note 9 as they are expensive. The employee in the store help me narrow down my choices and I decided to go with the Motorola One.

This phone is extremely beautiful. Has a iPhone X type of look. The first time I held it, I was really impressed with how easy it was to hold. I'm used to having to use both hands to hold a phone. So it was very refreshing to only have one hand to use this phone. The build quality is nice. It does not feel cheap at all. I have seen people complain about battery life, however, I have not seen issues with battery. I charge it overnight and wake up and go on with my day and by the end of the work day I still have about 40% left. So I am not sure what others are doing but I don't have that problem. I also like that it has expanded storage. I did buy an microSD card to upgrade my storage.

day-to-day performance is pretty decent. The reason why I gave four stars instead of 5, is that it does lag just a small bit when playing a game like words with Friends. Sometimes it's a little laggy when sending a text message, but not enough to irritate me.

call quality seems to be awesome. I have not had any calls drop. Crystal clear sound. The speaker is nice. The camera is a bit finicky. The selfie mode does it take the best pictures in the world. Definitely not good pictures in low-light. The rear camera is really nice.

overall, I would recommend this phone. If you want a nice unlocked phone at a pretty affordable price, this phone is really a good way to go. Motorola really upped their game with this device.

Brilliant phone. The battery sometimes lasts me 3 days. Finger print reader unlock is fast. Great internal memory. Comes with a cover which is a bonus.

Only issue is the amount of Motorola security update in the first month. I lost count of how many updates there were.

But now that I have had my first week without any updates, really enjoying it.

    Good phone, mediocre smartphone

I loved my Droids, really like Motorola. This falls short with a substandard camera, the Moto apps don't do enough and Google Asst doesn't fill the gaps. No available cases or screen protectors. Motorola doesn't offer support.

It is fast and supports plenty of apps. Haven't put it through full tests of power usage, but so far so good. Sounds not all loud enough, I don't hear notifications (see Moto apps). Without much effort, this could be A GREAT phone, could be intuitive and interactive. Motorola has no interest in addressing the issues.

    Fancy

I got this as a replacement for my current phone, as I wanted an upgrade. I looked at the specs and thought it was decent for the price.

Overall, looks very sleek. Almost passes for an iphone if you want something like that.

The processor is okay. Not the fastest and most efficient, especially if you're trying to use Google earth and other heavy apps.

The camera is nice, but nowadays most are outshadowed by the pixel ones.

I had to return this one because it ended up being incompatible with my network even after several calls before I purchased it.

Overall, this is a good budget phone if you want something that looks nice and has decent power, then you can add this one to your list.

    Great phone, great price.

Let me start off by saying that I'm no power user/mobile gamer. I use this phone to listen to podcasts on the road, check social medias, and do normal phone things like call people. The speakers are surprisingly good after hearing those of the other phones in this price range. Screen is nice, clear and bright when needed. Cellular antenna is average. The phone (after a few weeks of use) hasnt locked up on me, and shows no signs of slowing down. To keep it short, this phone does everything it should, and everything I need it to. My one real complaint would be the battery. It's a shame to have a phone this well made and still have a sub 4k mAh lithium battery. It does run through about 4 hours of youtube/video play without charge, and I can still go at least a day of regular use, but I know this could become quite miserable to use in the future now with the lack of changeable batteries. All in all, if I had to score it, I'd give this phone an 8.5/10.

    Awesome phone great reboot

Excellent working phone with all bugs and flaws worked out in generation two. Totally recommended for anyone who wants a functional phone and the ability to turn heads when you have the retro mode on and the “Hello Moto” ring tone go off. Great but worth every penny!!

Nice phone, but useless factory warranty

The phone itself had been performing well until just a few weeks ago when it stopped powering up. I sent it in for warranty but was told because the back case was cracked from a drop (not even screen damage), they would need to repair that first for $1000 before they would fix the power up issue under warranty. So I think the take-away is don't count on the warranty if you have any cracks or physical damage regardless if it's related to failure! Very disappointed and won't purchase again due to the support. Pic attached to show the cracked back that caused the rejection of warranty so you can gauge!

    Motorola delivered a superb phone

Nostalgia came true... It's so satisfying to use these type of the devices and remember when 10-15 years back you can finish your call by just closing your phone. And now Motorola delivers it to you - amazing quality, no reliability issues, super feelings and one of the best (and different) phones I ever used so far. Of course camera and battery life could be better, but you can't beat that style and nostalgia... And do not forget about Retro mode!

    Good phone.

I've been pretty concerned about the quality of this device. I agree with the other reviewers, I probably wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't 400.00 off. I do like it though! It's so conveniently small that it can fit in my pockets. (Hard thing to do with women's jeans.) And the battery lasts me all day long. My previous phone was the S8, so this phone is at least 2x better in specs from what I've seen so far. It's definitely still an upgrade to me, but not flagship status. As far as the phone goes, it has that little creeky noise that people talk about. It's barely audible to me, so it doesn't bother me. I am seeing some issues with group text messages though, which is unusual. Sometimes they're not downloaded right away, so I have to click on them to download. When that happens, they're not in order so it's a little harder to understand the context of my messages sometimes. It’s also very hard to find a good case. I bought one from Amazon, and it pops off the phone while it’s in my pocket. My advice would be to spend a little bit more to get the protection that you need. There is also 2 bends on the screen which is a bit off putting. Sometimes if the screen is a little dirty, it’s more noticeable but you can’t tell at all if the screen isn’t off. All in all though, I like it and would buy it again! The convenience of having a smaller phone has been great. The front facing screen is lots of fun when taking selfies or controlling different apps. I just wish that we could have more than 6 app shortcuts. It’s pretty amazing to control my Google Home app without ever having to open the phone.

    Love This Phone

I have to say I really LOVE this phone despite some of its shortcomings (this is my second one). I love being able to answer and end calls by opening or closing the flip and I love not needing to try and find shorts and pants with a special cell phone pocket in them to accommodate today’s oversized phones (I would never keep a wallet or cell phone in a hip pocket). Of course Samsung makes a very similar foldable phone and in some areas it’s better than the Motorola but there are basically two reason why I chose the Razr over the Z-Flip. The first reason is the much larger and more functional outer display on the Razr. And the second reason is that I just think the Razr is much better looking than the the Z-flip. Aesthetics are just really important to me and I guess I also really miss the days when there were many different unique looking phones out there. Unfortunately the Z-flip just looks like every other phone sold today except that it folds in half.

Naturally there are some downsides to the Razr but for me personally the pros just out weight the cons. Still I guess I should probably at least mention what those cons are. First off, the battery life is pretty short by today’s standards. In fact, the standby time alone (not using it at all) is about half the current standby time on my 3-year old Motorola One, a phone that weighs one ounce less than the Razr. If you are a heavy data user or gamer – I am not – then this might be a big problem for you. And a short battery life is not only inconvenient in the moment but it can also lead to the battery needing to be replaced sooner. After all, the more times a week you plug your phone into the charger the faster the battery will degrade over time. And I shutter to think what a battery replacement will cost on this phone. Another thing that heavy users might not like is that fact that when the processor is being overtaxed this thing gets REALLY hot.

Furthermore, although I love the design of this phone overal, there are a few things I would change. First of all, I would move the volume/shortcut button much closer to the hinge. This way it would be right under your thumb with the flip closed and at least closer to your thumb with the flip open. The current location is a problem because during one handed operation you have to shift the phone either up of down in your hand to use the button and this increases the likelihood that you will drop the phone in the process. Also on those occasions when you are opening the flip two handed rather than one handed you invariably accidentally push this button which shuts off the ringer and makes you think you missed the call.

I also really wish that this phone had a memory card slot and that it was a true dual sim phone. It currently has an e-sim and a regular sim but unfortunately both sims cannot be active at once - this despite Motorola stating a year ago that they would eventually come out with a firmware upgrade to make this possible. Traveling overseas a lot I have always preferred dual sim phones because you can not only insert a sim from the country you are visiting to get a local number but you can also leave your home number active at the same time.

As I mentioned earlier, this is actually my second Razr 5G. Back when I bought the first one Best Buy did not have them in silver, which is the color I really wanted at the time, so once they started carrying the silver ones I just waited for a half off sale and picked one up. I was originally going to then sell off the Graphite model, which I also got at a substantial discount, but after learning how expensive repairs are on this phone I may just keep the other one as a back-up phone. Apparently if you drop the phone and crack the front glass your only repair option is to send it to Motorola and they will charge you $1000 to repair or replace it (if this is no longer the case please let us know, Motorola). Anyway, knowing this makes me extremely paranoid about dropping the thing, and lets face it, using a case just ruins the look of this beautiful phone. And since the Motorola insurance options are not that much less than what I paid for this phone on sale I think keeping the first one as a back-up is just the smart way to go.

The bottom line is, if you are one of those people who absolutely has to have the latest and the greatest processor, cameras, display resolution, etc. – whether you actually truly need these things or not – then this might not be the phone for you. But if on the other hand having a very unique and attractive flip phone is a big part of the draw for you and those other things are not as important then this is definitely the phone for you.

    RAZR revisited

Love folding this phone like I used to be able to with the former generation razr. It’s nice to have room in my pocket besides the phone. It’s somewhat bigger than the old razr but only about half that of most phones these days and fits nicely in my hand.

Really like the outer display, can check messages, run many apps, control phone functions etc. without having to open the phone up.

Has great battery life (typically 2 days worth or more) although I’m not a power user but seems to do all i need to do quickly and with ease. It has 5G and have noted getting about 4x the 4G cell data rates over my old phone on Verizon. Connects reliably for hotspot use in an area with marginal cell signal while surfing at the cabin.

It’s built well but kind of slippery and hard to open without pushing one of the side buttons. Both of these are minor gripes and can be resolved with a textured cover and small tabs on the upper half of the phone.

All in all I’m pretty happy with my new RAZR that I got for $580 off the original price during the Black Friday specials.

Solid phone for a great price

+ is a pro leaning, - is a con leaning.

I've had this phone for about two months now and I can give you a good rundown of all the features and quirks. MKBHD does a decent review of the Verizon only version of this phone, the Edge +, but he is a little harsh on it imo.

    Display: +

So I want to say that this phone has an amazing display. It's not the leader of the market but really good for a mid-ranger. The waterfall display is going away due to the accidental touch problems but I hardly ever get an accidental touch on this phone. It also has these awesome little graphics specifically for the edge. Like plugging it in or getting a notif. All in all the Trademark of this phone. Also I would say this beats the Samsung Galaxy that had the waterfall display.

    Battery: +

At 4500Mah, the phone will last you all day. I'm definitely a heavy user at more than 6+ hours of screentime. I have about 25% at the end of the day. If you need to charge it tho, the rapid charger (18W+/-)does supply a somewhat fast charge but not as fast as their HyperOne(65W). Also, the charger is a USB male port to USB-C, which is aggravating since almost all phones I think now come with dbl sided USB-C.

    Camera: +

Just because this is pro leaning, doesn't mean it's like an Iphone or Samsung. But overall this camera has amazing Lowlight capability. The telephoto is clear enough if you want something like 50 yards away any further and it's blurry. And the macro is good but the focus is hard to grab. The few gripes is that, for the price without a sale on it, it needs to be more crisp and a more natural color. The bokeh is ok but needs some work. And then they need to have a image stabilization for both the photos and video. I means it's 2020, this should be standard. But other than that the video is real nice in 60fps. Not to mention the transfer to other viewers like a PC or to Facebook, it's about the same with what you see.

    Consistency: -

I don't have to money to buy a lot of nice phones, but I will say is that before I bought this phone. I did some research on it but they did a good job at hiding the negative news on it. Which is that, the phones had a ton of display issues. The one I received, worked perfectly fine for about 5 days until a dead pixel on the edge scrambled my phone and left a weird glitch that would burn what I was viewing onto the screen. Also had just black spots and green hues everywhere. It degraded the quality of the display too. It was awful, luckily it was before 7 days and Best Buy came in with the Clutch and replaced the phone for free. This phone now is all good and no problems at all. So far.

    Service and 5G: +

Now... All I gotta say is.... Holy cow. This is fast with the 5G. And even when not in 5G coverage the 4G is improved dramatically. Even working in buildings where it usually doesn't work. Also in low coverage areas have improved. The only downside is that sometimes I have to restart the phone because it loses service altogether for idk what reason but a quick reset does the job.

    Bluetooth and devices: -

So... The bluetooth is fast and easy to find devices fast however the multiple devices support is kinda iffy. When it connects to my smartwatch while also connected to my headphones. It sometimes disconnects my watch but not my headphones, I'm guessing giving my headphones priorities.

That was annoying but I'm sure software updates can help that out.

    Overall: +

Solid phone. Solid Specs. Fast and reliable as long as its not a defective one. I want to mention that I got this phone on sale on Black Friday for literally 300$ off... It was a steal. If I bought the phone full price, then I might've left a harsher review but you can't beat the price for how good this phone is.

Premium Smartphone for Not Premium Price!

I am an IT Admin for a medium-sized company (200-300 employees) and have been an iPhone user since the first one, now use a 12 Pro Max as my daily driver. As a tech enthusiast, I have owned a few Android devices along the way as well, most recently a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra (lost to theft, 10.2020). Recently at my company we decided to replace our biometric door access systems across all 12 offices with an application that must be installed on a smartphone and uses Bluetooth to authenticate employee door access. I already had spare iPhones on hand to test the software, so I needed an Android device to test as well. As the phone would not be used as my personal phone, I did not want to spend a ton of money on it, having spent over a grand on the Note 20 Ultra which was only used for me to personally test cellular network quality in my region and was stolen. After much searching, I found the Edge 5G and the price was right… got it as an open-box item at Best Buy for less than $400. The Edge 5G came with Android 10 out of the box and sports some premium features usually only found in flagship phones- face unlock, under screen fingerprint sensor and a gorgeous 6.7” OLED screen with a respectable 90Hz refresh rate. It feels premium beyond it's $400 cost when held in the hand and as the owner of many $1000+ flagship smartphones, I feel that the screen on this $400 Edge 5G is equally as gorgeous as those vastly more expensive phones. Also, the Edge 5G is considerably lighter than the Note and iPhone, and the screen is a bit narrower than those phones which makes it much more comfortable to hold and use with one hand. It plays my games and movies just as well as my Note and iPhone, but I find that navigating the OS can be a little less smooth, transitions are more abrupt and not as smooth as my flagships, but this is more of an aesthetic nitpick rather than a functional problem. Now for the few ‘negatives’ I have found with the phone…. First, compared to my Note and most definitely compared to my iPhone, the Edge’s face unlock is clunky at best and nearly useless. It fails most of the time, does not work well in the dark and will not work at all if I’m wearing sunglasses where my iPhone’s face ID works almost flawlessly with or without sunglasses. The under screen fingerprint sensor on the Edge is good, though not as fast as the Note's and iPhone is missing this feature altogether! Second, the curved edges of the screen are a beautiful effect, really make this phone perfect for watching movies, but make some other things exceedingly difficult to do. Moving icons between screens is tricky with the curved edges and I am constantly engaging gesture shortcuts by accidentally touching the sides when trying to swipe through pages of a website. Finally, the back of this phone shows fingerprints easily and can really look disgusting, you should get a case for it BUT… be warned, there is a VERY LIMITED selection of cases for this phone which was surprising to me having only ever ordered cases for flagship phones. Beyond those minor annoyances, I would certainly recommend this phone to anyone who needs an Android phone with a large, gorgeous screen but doesn’t want to spend a month’s rent to get it. Overall, I would say a great value and nice offering on the part of Motorola!

    Loyal fan, probably no more

I've been a loyal fan of Motorola fans for at least 15 years now and have owned their phones since the time of the Razor to the newest Edge phones. After seeing so many issues with the Edge I thought I must have been one of the lucky ones, having purchased my phone August 16th, and having outstanding results and experience with it since then. Less than two months in I've noticed dead pixels in the bottom right corner of my phone. I have NEVER had an issue like this in all my years of phone ownership. I contacted the Motorola forum email address about this, since they seem to be the ones who respond to negative reviews on their products. They haven't bothered replying to me. I guess they don't do that until a negative review has had enough public exposure. Very sad Motorola. You should realize the value of repeat customers on your business.

    Serious screen issues

Like many other people here, this model has pretty bad screen issues that would appear when the phone moderatly heated up. Something as simple as watching a youtube video would trigger it. Mines developed within 3 days of owning. Went to best buy and exchanged it for a Samsung Galaxy A71

    Great, Slightly Overpriced Phone

I have this phone currently and I am still using it. I came from an iPhone 11 Pro and this phone is certainly ...different. Here are my pros and cons so far:

    Pros:

    1. The screen is absolutely beautiful and makes this phone look so much more classy than others at its price range. I was hesitant at first due to the screen problems I read about - I have not experienced any - but I would recommend swapping it out if it does happen to someone else.

    2. The phone is super fast, responsive, and easy to use. The processor it has would bog down other devices but this one holds its own due to the nearly stock android experience. Games play without a problem for me, I do not do much gaming though.

    3. I use this phone a lot for college and my job - the battery life is good enough to last until about 6 or 7 pm after decently heavy use since around 8 am. The fingerprint scanners is actually really fast and responsive to my fingers.

    Cons:

    1. Price: This was not a con for me, because I got it unlocked at Bestbuy for 499.99. However, that is not its usual price. The Edge retails at 699.99. That is just a tad too expensive for this phone.

    2. Camera: The camera is not bad, it actually captures a lot of beautiful images and I have no complaints about the camera except for it does not match other phones in this price range AT THE 700$ RETAIL.

In closing, I smashed an iPhone, and decided to give something else a try for once. I love my Motorola. It's a great phone with only one or two shortcomings: price and camera. If this phone's retail was, say, $500, it would be much more attractive. It would not seem like a sale phone, or worse - an overpriced device.

    Dont buy!

After 3 days of buying this the screen started acting up black spots mostly on both sides of the screen so we returned it and exchanged it thinking maybe this is just a defective phone. Then after 2 days same thing happened I looked it up online then realized that its very common problem for this phone so I don’t recommend buying this phone.

Fast. No issues with anything so far. Camera is good quality. I think this is a great phone for the price by far!

    Problems

This phone does not work for making calls. When talking to different people I would hear over and over again that they can't hear me or that I'm breaking up. I've had Verizon and different phones for years and this is the first phone to have a problem. In looking online this seems to be a problem with this model that is going unaddressed. Luckily, I was able to return it during the free return period.

    NICE PHONE

The box says "Certified Pre-Owned" which Best Buy did not disclose. That said, it sure looks new, and works perfectly.

I bought this to see if I could transition to Android, since I have many issues with Apple: no SD card slot, no headphone output jack, etc.

I think this phone outperforms my iPhone5 in every way except camera color accuracy. However, the lighting in the pics on this phone is better.

Nice size, just a bit bigger than the iPhone but not huge like the newer ones. The back comes off, so I added 128GB memory in seconds, cheaply and if you need a new battery, it's ten bucks and two minutes, vs. having to take it somewhere and pay $70 or more. Battery life is impressive. Screen is vibrant.

I did not activate Unreal cell service. Just using wi-fi.

I definitely will not buy another iPhone based on the positive experience with this Android.

4 stars since the phone I received is pre-owned and not new. It is locked to Sprint and comes with a Sprint SIM card. Mu understanding is it will only support CDMA networks when unlocked even though a factory unlocked version from Motorola supports both CDMA and GSM networks.

Looks weird feels specific not a bang for a buck

However this cell is sporting a posh form factor, in fact it is not that perfect as for the price tag buck paid in it's overall qualities. First it runs extremely hot! I've started experiencing overheating immediately after starting the transferring data from my previous Galaxy 9+ which I still found a way more convenient in daily use by far. CPU is easily peaking up 49 C for diagnosing which I am using cpu-z paid utility, recommended on most themed forums. So you simply have to make a tough choice from the start, which app to use in priority, too many of them, from Rarz CPU standpoint will make it real hot. Okay next is a form factor. It feels slimy like a wet pebble you never sure whether it may squeeze out from you fingers, so additional protective encasing recommended. Despite of touted ads the main screen is far not that smooth so you can feel on touch and even visually spot 3 splitting folders in the line of bending the device. I tried to give the most exhaustive and honest review, thus petty inconveniences as ridiculously miniature on screen keyboard, absolutely bad for males fingers, surprisingly shoddy for this class, jarring dynamic, no SIM extension, actually didn't make my decision. On the resume must conclude, this device is not of the class it's claimed to be in, not on par with the luxury top tier whatsoever. It's rather an ordinary device, but we are seemingly living in the epoch when manufacturers just used to pass a something off what is not.

    Do not buy refurbished phones.

Received it Tuesday in good condition then put my Gmail account in and the phone would not stop rebooting...It would get to some point the phone would freeze then start a reboot. Then I was treated pretty rudely by the customer service at the San Angelo while trying to exchange the problem phone.

    Awesome phone!

This will be my 4th Motorola phone I've purchased! The value of these phones is hard to beat by any company out there. Pictures look fantastic, phone feels great with no issues. Definitely recommend this phone to anyone!

Check out a picture of the Grand Canyon I took with the phone.

    Awesome phone

I've been an apple user since the apple four. I've also been a huge Android fan. But above all I love Moto. The Moto actions I use like every day. This is the first action camera on a phone and it's stellar. Plenty of space and ram. I just love this phone. It's my daily driver. Oh and the screen. I could talk about this pretty lil phone all day.

    Good phone on a budget

The camera is amazing for the price even better than the iphones camera in my opinion! Phone runs fast and smooth too. Only downsides is the phone is very low quality in terms of build and very plastic-y. The battery drains fast and I mean FAST! I don't know if it's just my phone but I returned one to store that had a bad battery and got a brand new one with the same battery drainage issue. Other than that great phone!

Moto One Action Open Box purchase

Phone, although open box purchase (discounted price) was in perfect condition in the original box. Phone works as expected and setting it up with moving contacts and apps over went smoothly.
