    Works as advertised.

I’ve had this dehumidifier for about six weeks now and it continues to work great. I have it running constantly in my basement on the low fan setting and it measures the relative humidity in the room at a consistent 34%. I have the included drainage hose attached and a constant drip can be seen from the end of the hose and into the sink that is right next to the dehumidifier.

    Great dehumidifier

Works great. Fairly quiet too. If not draining it it needs to be emptied every 5 or 6 hours.

As stated in some reviews, it is a bit tough to get the bucket back in to place, but this dehumidifier is otherwise terrific. It has removed the musty smell from the basement and lowered the humidity nicely. Touch pad controls are easy to understand and use.

    Okay

Ordered a NEW one and got a USED one. Works fine but a little noisy. I like settings where you can set it to run 2hours or 4 hours. It automatically shuts off when the bucket is full. The bucket fills up fast so I would suggest using the hose option. You’ll need to buy the hose separately.

    Received Used (Refurbished?) Equipment !!

Just received the shipment of my order of this GE Dehumidifier. Although the box looked fine (no apparent box damage), the item is clearly very used, possibly refurbished (unclear). The unit turned on and appears to be working at this point. (It is, however, very noisy, as others have noted in reviews. It may become less noisy if we tie bungy cords around it as others have suggested.) The nasty part of the delivery is that it is clearly quite used. Most of the core unit doesn't look too bad, but the plug has dirt all over it and lots of strange cuts on it (see photo submitted with this review), suggesting very extensive past use. I can't believe that BestBuy would try and pass off as new a unit that has been used to this degree. I am currently on chat trying to find out what they will do about it, and will update this review if there is a very satisfactory response. So far, they are saying I can return it in 15 days to a store or get a 10% discount. Not great options given the time it takes to return. So buyer beware.

    Used?????

Was super excited for this to come in early, only to open a unit that was very clearly used and returned. There was mold, dried dirt, and other questionable residue on the unit, and the inside looked like it had been wiped down before being sent back out, despite the scratches and (again) dirt. Absolutely returning this.

Very pleased with my dehumidifier purchase

Works very well, some days I have to empty 3 or more times. I could opt for the hose draining it but I currently don't have a drain in my garage floor. There is the option to use a hose for draining so a plus for those of you who have a floor drain.

The unit operates very quietly and there are low, medium and high settings for the fan.

My only beef with this unit is that sometimes it blows out really warm air which kind of defeats the purpose of why I got the unit. I got it to reduce the humidity which is supposed to make the room feel cooler. When it blows out the really warm air it stays like 81 degrees in the room but has a humidity level of 38-45. Maybe if it were placed by a wall with the air return vent it might be more bearable. Will have to try that out to see if it makes a difference. This is the first one I've owned so I have a lot to learn on how to make it work best.

    A Good Dehumidifier So Far

I have owned this dehumidifier just short of a month, so I hope it is really durable. I plugged it up, turned it on and it has performed well every day since. I purchased it as a replacement for a whirlpool I had for just over 2 years. I have 2 dehumidifiers in my basement that operate at 50% humidity setting. I have lived in my house for 34 years and have literally wore out several dehumidifiers. The older ones lasted longer than the newer ones as most appliances seem to now. I am very pleased with this one so far. I read numerous reviews on this model and several others. I decided on this one and recommend it based on it's performance up to this date. The owners manual recommends you program it for continuous run for the first 24 hrs. I did and reset it for 50% humidity after.

    Works great for the basement

I needed a dehumidifier for my basement. Humidity level was 75% and I was concerned about damage to the items stored in the basement. After purchasing this unit, the humidity level has been able to stay below 50% and even hitting the targeted 35%-45% range. I am using it with a garden hose to a drain so that I don’t have to empty the bucket several times a day.

    Well Built

My old dehumidifier died and did some quick research that ended up picking this one. I like how well made it is. It has some little "feet" stand for the bucket. The bucket does take some getting use to getting out to empty but once you get use to it, its easy. It does not have an auto empty feature, but I did not want one. I like the display and controls on top versus the one I had previously. I have had this for about 3 months and no issues at all.

Results you can feel (and smell)

When COVID-19 hit, it forced us, like many Americans, to work from home. My wife and I have “offices” in the basement, and upon our transition to the new normal, we spend 40 hours a week downstairs. My wife’s nose is a bit more sensitive than mine, and always shared what she thought about the mustiness. I had been researching dehumidifiers and planned to get something. When I saw BestBuy had this insignia model on sale, I jumped at it. What an incredible difference it has made downstairs. In just a week I’ve emptied the bucket 3 times downstairs and have completely changed the smell. It’s amazing what this thing has done. I bought two, one for upstairs and one for down. I’ve successfully lowered the humidity level in my house 5-10% which I know has made a huge difference on the feel. Now I’m closer to a 45% humidity level. It just feels more comfortable.

I love that these units have a drain port on the back so you can connect a hose to it and it can run to your sump pump area.

The noise is negligible. It’s very similar to the noise produced by a fan or perhaps a quiet dishwasher.

If you’re considering buying one, go with this one. Setup is extremely quick - just be sure to remove all tape. The power cable organizer is inside the water bin. Plug it in to power and you’re set!

To set it to the desired humidity level, make sure all button lights are off. When you first power it on, it may default to comfort or continuous mode. Press that button once to turn the led off above it. Then you can control the desired humidity levels with the Plus and Minus buttons.

    Amazing! Trust me it works

Within ONE hour this thing already had this much water! I’ve only had this thing an hour lol but so far it’s doing absolutely amazing. Better than I had expected. Wish the cord was a tad bit longer but that doesn’t take away from the quality or product. Also easy to use! Just plug it in and turn it on lol.

Very happy, over expectations! Extracts ridiculous

I can’t believe how much water this machine extracts from my apartment. I almost got the Waykar because my friend had it so I tried it, but so glad I favor this one it’s much more effective. No complaints so far. Just note that if you want a drain hose you’d have to buy that separately. I have it in my apartment and I empty it morning and night because it’s so freaking humid here, was over 80% humidity now it’s down to 55% and so much easier to breathe + mold smell and mushiness gone and our energy levels are up. If you need serious water extraction, meaning gallons and gallons every day, I recommend it!! It’s not a small machine but the sound although quite loud is still pleasant pitch and the white color and design makes it blend in.

    Owned 4½ months

Now I understand why some reviews said it fills the bucket at first, but then produces no water. I believe that the coolant leaks a little from the time of purchase. The indicator shows the humidity goes down (from maybe 60 to 45), but the bucket hasn't filled more than ½ inch since the first month I owned it after days of having it shut off, and more days of running again. The fan runs for an eternity after the compressor shuts off, helping the electric bill increase and making me crazy with the continual noise. It should produce lots of water (like it did the first couple of weeks), as I live on the TX coast, with temps of 99.5° and dewpoint of 75°. At least you might say it is self-sufficient, because it must be recycling the water into the air and never makes me empty the bucket.

Looks like I received a lemon. I got this a couple of weeks ago to be ready to replace an older GE in my basement that was acting up and stopped working a few days ago. Out of the box I set it up per the instructions, As soon as I powered it on I got a "P2" tank full code. I have it connected to a hose which drains into my sump pit so I do not have to use the tank. I tried several times to power on/off and adjust the tank drawer but nothing worked. Insignia tech support came to the conclusion that it was defective. I've always had good luck with insignia products but not this time, I'm not sure if I am going to exchange or go with a different brand. I have to rate 1 star across the board as it is defective out of the box.

    Great little unit

We live in Oregon and it can be a little damp around here. Fortunately we have never had any mold issues in our basement but it can feel a little damp down there during rainy season. It can also smell a little musty. Picked this unit up on sale and within a few hours the smell was completely zapped. The unit’s humidity reading was close to my hygrometer’s reading and appears accurate. Quickly reduced humidity from 52% down to 35%. Of course it’s currently dry season here so it may have to work a little harder during the rainy season - but we’re glad we got the unit. Even if you don’t have any moisture *problems* but you’re tired of the basement smell, this will shock you at how quickly it is remedied. My only complaint is the bucket is a little finicky to put it. It has these random tracks on the bottom and it took a couple of times struggling with it to figure out the trick. I really love Insignia products. We have Insignia TV’s, chest freezer, this dehumidifier, among others. You save by not paying for the brand name and get high quality products. Have never had an issue with any of our Insignia products.

    Works great

The dehumidifier works great, but size and weight was above my expectation. The noise level is louder than my fridge, therefore I can’t run it when sleeping. Due to the size and weight, the cooling fins were bent/ damaged during shipping.

Noisy- Not as Advertised. Get headaches now!!!

10 times Louder- Proven than Advertised- Noisy son of a bun. Very disappointed. After two days of running this very noisy machine mostly on low sometimes turning it off because of the noise pollution I tested it with a decibel meter, And verified that I indeed it did look up the rating to be advertised at lower than at 50db as the max noise level per specifications. Functions ok- thus the 2 stars. Now I have to take it back snd find one that is “as advertised” On low at 60% moisture 57db. Almost 61db on high at 60% moisture. More crazy noisy when set for lower moisture!!!! See pics for db info. Best Buy & GE get your info straight this is not a max 50db unit as your specifications say here.

    Uses too much power!!!

It does what it’s supposed to. The size was perfect for the laundry room. In Florida, it can get humid inside the house and anything we hang dry can get mildewy smell if moisture isn’t controlled. I saw that the power bill went up a lot recently. So I bought smart power readers for the three dehumidifiers we have in the house. Two big and one small. I was VERY surprised at how much power this thing uses! I have two bigger F-brand dehumidifiers that use about 60-70 watts when in use. On average this thing uses about 5.8 kWh on a typical day. When I removed this dehumidifier from service and plugged in the bigger one in the same location, it used average of 0.55 kWh in a day. That’s 10% of what this thing uses! Ridiculous! Instantaneous reading was between 370-500+ Watts which is terrible efficiency! This thing should come with a big yellow energy use guide tag!

    Best dehumidifier ever !!

I live in a bottom floor apartment, about 850 Sqft. A lot of my things started getting covered with mold and I ended up breaking down to buy this dehumidifier. BEST. DEHUMIDIFIER. EVER. !! I know it’s $200, but it is SOOO worth it. With in the first HOUR it collected so much water I was blown away. It tells you the humidity level where it’s sitting (mine was 70% yesterday) and it’s down to 30% now in less than a day. I also like that it was super straight forward to use. You literally just plug it up and it’s ready to go. The only thing I was confused about is how the little wheels for the bottom of it were put it inside of the water catcher. So when I went to empty it, I didn’t notice the wheels till later. Other than that, 10/10 recommend. You will not regret it and it’s worth every penny. The air feels so different in here now and I’m glad I got this.

    So far, very good!

We usually purchase another top brand of dehumidifier, but they were out of stock. I purchased this GE 35 pint dehumidifier hoping it would work as good as our normal brand of dehumidifier. I was very pleased to find that this little dehumidifier pulls just as much water out of the air as our other dehumidifier. I like the smart humidity feature and the bucket is easy to empty. The dehumidifier will shut down for a while before notifying you it is full. This allows extra water to drip into the bucket first before removing which is also a nice feature. The filter is easy to access and vacuum. We have only had this dehumidifier for a short while but so far, very good.

    AMAZING. AMAZING. AMAZING!!!!

First of all, this system is so easy to use I never even opened the instructions. Plug it in, check the tub, wait for the fill light, and dump. I live right in front of a pond and it was 90% humidity!!! This machine is a life saver. 10 minutes is all it took for it to take it from 70% humidity in my house to 50%!!! The accuracy of this machine is outstanding as well. I tested it with a reptile humidity gage. This machine is great for a big apartment with open space, or a smaller house. My fiancé and I have bad asthma and if we didn’t have this machine we’d be coughing flem up and drowning with how bad it’s been. Spend the money, get the machine. WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!

    Did not last a year

My unit was around 10 months old when I started to notice rust in the water bucket. I didn't think much of it, but a few weeks later I noticed small rust particles that looked like paint chips on the top of the unit and on the ground around it. Something is clearly rusting inside the unit and the exhaust fan is blowing rust around the room.

On the same day I noticed the rust everywhere, I also noticed that the cooling fins on the back of the unit were frozen over (pictured).

Thankfully the unit is still under warranty, but even so, GE's replacement process is a pain. They send you a Good Will Certificate when you file a warranty claim. You have to go out and buy a new unit with your own money, then mail a copy of the receipt in with the Good Will Certificate and it takes 6-8 weeks to process and receive a check in the mail. They don't refund the tax amount you paid on the original purchase, so you effectively have to pay that twice.

I bought an Insignia dehumidifier at the same time I bought the GE unit and that one is still running without any issues.

    Love my dehumidifier

I had been looking at a few options and the rating on this product made me take interest. I really didn’t want to spend more than $200 so I had been watching and hoping for a sale. This model came up on the “deal of the day” and I jumped on it. I’m very happy with my purchase so far! This model does have wheels for easy mobility around the house. I really like knowing how humid my house is with the indicator on the top panel. I haven’t used any of the timed features. I normally turn it on at night and it’s full in the morning. I live by the ocean where it is extremely humid so having a good dehumidifier is a must.

Great machine and it really draws out the moisture

I am renting a small farm house and it is really musty smelling. The basement leaks every single time it rains. I bought two of these two use in this house on opposite sides of the house. Both of these machines really pull out the moisture. If I put them on continuous I have to empty the 50 pint bins several times a day. I have now changed to 50% moisture as I have turned on the heat, which is a monitor heater. I figure the heater will help with the moisture problem also. That way I don't have to empty the machines as much either. They both are very good! I have no complaints at all. There is a place in the back to put a hose for emptying into a drain or bucket, but I haven't done that. The front bin pulls out and has a very strong handle to carry it to the sink and empty it out. I just slide the bin back in and gently hit it to make sure it's secured in the machine. Then, it comes back on and starts automatically when the bin is reinserted. It is very easy to operate. I highly recommend it.

Dehumidifier is great but getting it wasn’t.

Overall pretty good dehumidifier so far. Not too loud powerful blower and as I went weeks without one I’m able to see that it can extract a full load in about a day (24hours running). Don’t get delivery to home as mine showed “delivered” when it wasn’t after tracking showed it all over the place then magically status changed to delivered a day late when we were looking for it for the three days. Best Buy customer service was great in replacing my order, this time to the store for pickup a week after my call about the issue. I guess store deliveries are once/week. It didn’t show up and a week after that, the next store drop date, no delivery message to pick up. So I about give up and was going to call for a refund but 2 days later it was available for pickup. Once I got it, the dehumidifier was great, though.

    It works

Purchases this to replace a previous generic model that died last summer and it’s working without any issues. Unit is actually more quiet than the previous 50qt dehumidifier it replaced and so far haven’t had any issues. I had the water container fill up twice even though the external hose was connected but it seems to be working fine now as I haven’t had to empty it for several weeks now. It seems like humidifiers all go bad after 2-3 years so I ended up getting the replacement plan to hopeful save myself from having to buy another unit down the road. Unfortunately the unit went on sale as soon as my return period ended which didn’t allow for a price match and would have been a much better deal. (Was on sale for $150) . I would really recommend especially if you can get the unit on sale.

This thing is flat out fantastic

Instead of moving our existing dehumidifier to the new house (it's more than ten years old, but still running strong), I figured I'd take a shot at a new Energy Star rated one to see if there's any real improvement - and there's no comparison. The Insignia fills crazy fast compared to our existing dehumidifier - who knows how much electricity I've been wasting limping that old one along over the years. The drain hose is a standard garden hose attachment, which works brilliantly to keep from ever having to empty it. I'm not sure who actually manufactures them, but I've been having great luck with Insignia appliances so far.

Very nice product. It doesn’t seem to turn off after reaching the set humidity if done manually. However, if you go through the app & set smart thresholds for turn on & off at certain humidity it works flawlessly. Has helped to prevent any flash mildew growth in the garage we were having issues with with this summer heat & the always cold cement floor. App works without a flinch, surprised honestly, works more reliably than my eufy security camera app

    So disappointed

I was having issues with condensating HVAC ducts so my HVAC technician told me to go get a 70 Pt dehumidifer. After some research I loved the wifi functionality of this unit. I got the unit home and within less than 24 hours the condensation issues were completely solved. I emptied the dehumidifier in the morning and notice no water had bene pulled from the air when trying to empty that evening. The entire back panel of the dehumidifer had a thick layer of ice on it. The unit says it could start getting frost on it around 41 degrees F, my basement hovers around 65. I set the unit outside, blow dried the ice off it and left it out for 24 hours. Within an hour of having it hooked back up it froze over again. I went and exchanged for a new unit and frost was no longer an issue however every time i turned the unit off it sounded like it was going to die. I ended up exchanging this for a GE 50 Pt model. I miss the wifi functionality but the unit is overall much better made and I don't feel like I'm going to be out nearly $300 in a few months when this thing bites the dust. I'm really disappointed in this unit.

    Humity Sensor calibration way off

The humidity sensor is way off with no way to calibrate. I have 2 other humidity sensors that are within 1 degrees of each other and do not fluctuate wildly, and this dehumidifier is off by 2or 6 as it fluctuates wildly, One moment it's 52% next second drops to 48% then after a few min up to 51% then it fluctuates up and down 1 or 2 degrees. Also once it reaches it's low set point it the condensor shuts off but the it shows the humidity rise 4 points in seconds so the unit never shuts off because it does not stay at set point long enough. My other sensors show the levels increase a degree every 45 mins after both dehumidifers are off(The Honeywell I had to manually shut off). I exchanged for another thinking it was faulty but the exchanged one behaves the same way. I called Honeywell's support line to see if there was a way to calibrate they said no and if I'm not happy with the way it's working just return it. So I'm returning the second unit. It's a shame because the App and connecting to WiFi was easy and handy and noise level was pretty low. I got my old 15yr old Whirlpool dehumidifier on a smart switch and a ZWave humidity sensor and Smartthings hub works better than this brand new Honeywell dehumidifier, only thing it's really loud.

    Easy setup

Was initially very warm but that’s a rare occurrence now. WiFi was fairly easy to set up but not useful if you have a drain. The fan, which runs continuously, is ok if you are not right next to it. Overall, very good at drying a humid basement and I would happily buy again. Especially since it was the only one Best Buy had.

I like it -- initially the app is confusing

The dehumidifier works as advertised in the first few hours. I've had it running for 6 hours and the bin is already 1/4 full of water. The humidity in the house has dropped from about 58% down to 45% in that short amount of time (using more accurate hygrometers).

Others have noted that the humidity reading on the dehumidifier seems 'off', but I'm not sure it's all that bad. The trick is you have to let it run and pass air through the sensors for a bit for the numbers to stabilize. Once they do, they are within reasonable error of other sensors I have.

The only reason I'm knocking it down to 4 stars is the mobile app. The manual that comes with the device says to go to x URL to get instructions on how to connect it to wifi. But the link they give you to that manual is broken. So you're left to fend for yourself. Then, once you do your work and find the app you need "Honeywell Air Comfort" app from Jmaek Limited, you'll create an account and then be stuck at how to add a device. There's no explanation on what to do next. I ended up closing the app and coming back to it 6 hours later. Then when I opened the app it prompted me to add a device and walked me through how to do it. The app has something like a 2.3 star rating because there's no explanation that there's a wait time after you register your account before you can add the device. Once you do get it registered everything works as expected.

Need to set the humidity higher than you’d think.

It took a while and a lot of adjusting, but we finally got it figured out and we are happy with this product. Our first impression was not favorable and we actually returned it and did a swap with the same model. We thought maybe it was defective because it ran all the time. Directions state that there is about a 5 point overshoot, but after getting the replacement one and it was doing the same thing, it’s more like a 12 point overshoot. We’ve learned that if we set the humidity to 60%, it will shut off when it gets to 48% and then kick back on when it gets up to 55%. If we set it for 55% or less, it doesn’t shut off and will run forever.

It is quieter than others we have owned through the years. I’m hoping that this one lasts longer than our previous Frigidaire dehumidifier, that we only got 3 years out of. Our Frigidaire prior to that one is still going after 13 years! We moved that one to my parents house and I’m contemplating getting my parents the Honeywell one since we figured it out and to be one step ahead when the Frigidaire decides to die.

If it were more accurate with setting the humidity and it shutting off when it gets to that level, I’d give 5 stars. I’ve deducted a star since it took a bit to adjust and figure it out. It’s working great now.

Good value; take care when you empty it!

I've had about six dehumidifiers of various brands over the years and this one is the best so far. Knock on wood! It works as you'd expect it to with a couple of exceptions:

    1) The "target humidity" control is not very sensitive. If you set it at 50% or something like that it simply keeps running. That's not a deal-breaker but it's contrary to what the instruction manual says.

    2) No matter who manufactures these, they don't pay any attention to how difficult they are to empty. The water retainer is very difficult to aim accurately so if you're pouring into a sink or toilet, you're like to make a mess. It takes practice and finesse.

Everything else is fine. It works very well.

Solid Dehumidifier for a Humid Closet!

My closet is always humid, and this dehumidifier has been a huge lifesaver so far. The humidity in my closet has been prevalent for a while and I never gave thought to get a dehumidifier for my closet until I saw this one. I am glad I obtained this one. This Pure Enrichment humidifier has done a brilliant job at eliminating the humidity in my closet!

This little guy is extremely portable at 5 pounds and 1 foot in height. So, if you ever have other places around your home that are high in humidity, moving this around won’t be a problem. In my home, the only places where there is high humidity are the walk-in closet and main bathroom. Over the past couple of days, I have been switching the location of the dehumidifier between these two rooms.

There are only a couple of buttons that are simple to use. The first button is the timer. There are two options: 4 or 8 hours. Once the hours are completed the dehumidifier will shut off itself. If the timer is not selected, the dehumidifier will run until you turn it off. The middle is the power button. The last button controls the rate of dehumidification. There are two options Low(L) and High(H). The dehumidifier does get a bit loud on the high setting but not enough to be distracting. The blue tank is the removable water tank. I have yet to fill it since the humidity in my home isn’t too ridiculous but the tank should be able to shut itself off once it's full.

Overall, the dehumidifier does its job nicely. The settings I have been using are 8 hours on low which worked well for my situation. My closet and restroom have significantly less humidity compared to before. I have nothing bad to say about this product. If you need a dehumidifier for a mid-sized room, I cannot recommend this enough.

    Nice to have room dehumidifier

The unit is compact, as its capacity is 1.5 liters. Just enough for a small office or bedroom. We haven't had humid days the last few weeks so its difficult to say how good a job it is doing. Anything below 45 percent humidity seems comfortable to me.

I find the auto off functions and speed controls especially useful. The first it turns itself off , the second allows the fan to run quieter.

All buttons have mellow blue LEDs.

The clear blue container is easy to remove and empty. Not sure if it can sense the tray is full.

    Small Dehumidifier Comes in Handy

This PureDry dehumidifier is small and fairly quiet. A simple machine--just a few controls and a pull-out water reservoir. It puts out quite a bit of heat like a full-size one.

When it's summer in Florida it's hard to find humidity in the house with the AC running, but I tested it in 2 bathrooms with the doors closed after they had been used for showers and had damp towels hanging in them.

The starting relative humidity in the one room was 62%, and after about 90 minutes it had dropped it to the low 50's, but only about 2 ounces of water had collected in the reservoir. Same situation in the other bathroom. The machine raised the temp in those rooms significantly though.

I am thinking this unit would work great inside a damp RV or camper, even the inside of a vehicle that you left the windows down in a rain storm. I think the heat from the machine and the air blowing in and out of it would help as much as the actual removal of water from the air.

And it fits in my closet!

There's an annual swamp that develops under our house right under my closet. Water runs down the hill, into the crawl space under the house, and then sits there...swamp-like. The closet above the swamp ends up being damp and mildewy all year long. I plugged in the new dehumidifier and left it alone for a couple days, checked it today, and it's already collected a quarter inch of water! I wish I had gotten one of these sooner, before that swamp smell got into my sweet shirts. I'd recommend this to anyone suffering from too much water in their wardrobe.

    Perfect for small room.

This is a small dehumidifier that is perfect for a small 10' by 10' or smaller room lick a closet. Works well and it is easy to empty the container. It has a timer with two choices for it to shut off or can be used indefinitely.

Works as expected, I cant comment on longevity since I just got it.

    A small but effective dehumidifier!

Bottom Line: The Pure Enrichment PureDry Deluxe 1.5L Dehumidifier is a small and effective machine, but some buyers may need a larger / more feature rich unit to effectively manage humidity in their home.

    Pros: small size; works

Cons: no humidistat; no air filter

Review: The Pure Enrichment PureDry Deluxe 1.5L Dehumidifier is a very small unit (12” height, ~8” long, ~5” wide) that can manage humidity in a space up to 160 sq. ft. According to the user manual, it can remove about 20 oz (1.25 pints) of water from the air per day, which is on par with my tests. For instance, I put the unit in my upstairs hallway next to the bathroom door with 67% humidity. After running the unit on high setting for a little over two hours, the humidity was down to 58%, and it had collected about 2 oz of water.

The unit has basic controls: power, low/high, and 4/8hr timer buttons. It does not have a built in humidistat, so the unit will not automatically regulate the relative humidity. Rather, if the timer is not set, the unit will run continuously until the water tank is full. As such, users may consider getting a separate hygrometer to measure the room’s humidity and adjust operation of the unit accordingly.

Buyers should also note that this unit does not have an air filter, which might be a concern if mold /mildew is an issue in the space. The air intake is through plastic fins in the back panel, which is removable and cleanable (held on with 1 screw). In terms of noise, my phone registers it at 44 dB-A on low and 51 dB-A on high sitting about 3 feet away, which isn’t terribly loud but neither really whisper quiet.

Overall, the unit will remove excess humidity from the air in a small, compact, and lightweight design, and I think it’s ideal for those looking to increase air comfort on high humidity days. For those who need continuous moisture control and improved air quality may want to consider a larger unit with a built in humidistat and air filter.

Looks Great, Quiet, and Easy to Move

I love the look, size, and function of the PureDry Deluxe Dehumidifier. It's easy to move around, easy to use, and works well!

    Dehumidification

I was very happy with how the PureDry pulled water out of the air. The box says it will remove up 20oz of water. It pulled water out and filled the tank which is what I expected. It stopped when full as it's supposed to also.

    Design

The PureDry has a clean, sleek look to it. There are only three capacitive buttons on top. Each one has lights to indicate auto shut-off time, power on/off, and fan speed. There's a slot in the front of the unit to show how much water is in the tank. There's a handle at the top of the back of the unit that makes it easy to pick up. The tank is accessed from the back. There's a place in the back water tank where you could connect a tube for it to drain. No tube is included, just the plug you need so that water doesn't leak out.

    Easy to use

There are three buttons on top. A simple touch will activate them. One button is for the shut-off timer, which can be set to off (run continuously), 4 hours, or 8 hours. The when the water tank filled the unit shut off, just like it should. It's easy to pull the tank out and empty it.

    Noise

There are only two speeds, low or high, but I think that's all it needs. Low is quiet. I can hear it in a quiet room but it's a soft hum, not annoying at all. With anything going on in the room at all I totally forget it's even there. High is much louder but I it is still an acceptable noise level for me to be in the room where it is. With this on low it's idea for a room with people talking.

    Quiet and efficient

Works great and is MUCH quieter than our previous dehumidifier. The noise level is about the same as a box fan running on medium, versus our old one that sounded like an air compressor. We can even tell how much more energy efficient this one is as well, actually saw a reduction in energy usage compared to last year!

Excellent performance with a few shortcomings

Exceeds expectations but takes a while to understand how it works. I bought the dehumidifier for a basement. The humidistat seems to read high (humidistats are commonly inaccurate for many reasons but this one maybe be high just because of its location in the dehumidifier). Mine read 55% when other humidistats in the basement read lower -- 50 +/- 2%. The dehumidifier continues to dehumidify until the humidity reading is 5% below the set desired humidity and then it turns off until the humidity builds up so that the humidistat reading is 5% above the desired humidity (and then the dehumidifier compressor turns back on, etc.). Mine could never drop the humidity below 45% so I set my desired humidity at 55% -- which kept the humidity between a 50 and 60% reading at the machine and between 47 and 57% in the basement according to other humidistats place around the basement. I was very pleased that the machine's performance kept the humidity below 60% everywhere in my 1250 sq ft irregular shaped basement even on low fan speed. I would have given it a 5-star rating if the compressor ran a little quieter (seemed to get louder after some use) and the drain hose setup as specified by the manufacturer allowed for a longer hose (some people seem to run a longer garden hose with no problem, though). Based on the length of the power cord and the drain hose, I could only place it in one location in my basement. I still think it is the best value dehumidifier available because of the much longer warranty than other models and because of the ability to restart after a power outage so you can trust the basement will continue to be dehumidified even when on an extended absence. My one worry bead is that the manufacturer warns that the dehumidifier should not be restarted before a 3-minute wait period -- we have power interruptions that are shorter than 3 minutes.

    compressor did not survive

Nice appearance. Rolls easily. Controls are easy to understand. Fan runs continuously. Unit manufactured by a partner company for Honeywell. The parts provided for continuous draining are very low grade – go to someplace like the big orange building supply store and purchase sprinkler system parts with vinyl tubing. I put the unit in my basement shop, setpoint at 35% during late winter, the compressor lasted less than two months. Best Buy was good to credit that purchase toward purchase of the 70-pint unit.

    Great so far

I've had at least 4-5 dehumidifiers over the past 15 yrs, from Soleus, GE, Whirlpool, Frigidaire, and Honeywell, all worked OK for only about 2 years. Honeywell's warantee was great, they honored the unit and replaced failed units twice, For that, I give them high marks but for the product itself, I can't.

So I tried Keystone. I can't comment on longevity (which is my major concern), but I can say that this unit works MUCH more efficiently. It cycles on/off less often, runs for shorter periods of time and brought the humidity down much more quickly. So far, I'm a fan, I hope it lasts.

Easy setup, steady functioning (at least so far). I find it very helpful to be able to set the desired level of humidity and fan speed - a definite upgrade from my previous dehumidifier! It's a bit on a loud side compared to a smaller GE unit that I use upstairs, but that's not a big deal by itself - depends on where you're planning to put it.

    Powerful but continuous drain useless

I bought Keystone 50 pint dehumidifier model KSTAD504D last week. Easy to unpack and operate, except the continuous drain feature is useless. In order to connect a hose to the back of the unit, the company makes the user install a 5 inch drain hose adaptor (included) through the back of the unit. One installed and connected to the drain hose ( not included) I was able to run the hose down to a condensation pump on the basement floor. This should have permitted trouble free operation without the need to empty the water bucket every day. Unit will not operate without the water bucket drawer in place, but then the bucket fills up and the unit shuts off. This renders the continuous draining feature useless. I have bought cheaper dehumidifiers elsewhere and set them up the same way in the same spot in my basement without any such difficulty. I will be returning this unit. Disappointed.

    Dehumidifier pump potential disappoints

This dehumidifier was easy to set up by following the enclosed instructions. I am disappointed that the pump function built in to the machine does not seem to work properly. The machine removes a tankful of moisture daily which I empty by removing the reservoir and dumping. That works well. But when I attempt to run the pump out a basement window that is well within the advertised height and distance rating advertised for the machine, it is very noisy, leaks, and does not discharge the water outside.

    Better Than You Think

So I got this for the upstairs in my place and so far, I've enjoyed it. I think the dehumidifying functionality is less than stellar but the UV de-germing is worth it alone. Let it run for about 3 hours in the bathroom the other day and captured about a half cup of water. I would have to imagine there's more but unsure. Waiting to see if constant use helps with allergies and the like, but so far, happy with the performance.

This dehumidifier has very low capacity and may be be OK for a very small room or a closed, but way too small for a normal size room. I managed to collect about a teaspoon of water in a day and a half. I replaced it with a bigger dehumidifier that collected about half a gallon for the same time under similar conditions. In addition, the research I did on the Peltier method showed that it's not very energy efficient.
