We bought this for our garage. Although it does not make it really cool (Texas heat with no insulation), it helps lower the temperature as much as we thought it would.

It doesn’t come with a hose. Other than that product works great.

AMAZING air conditioner! This literally cools my room off completely. No water leaking at any given time unless you turn on the humidifier but it brings a tiny hose to drain the water. Great price that works better than my central air conditioning unit. All in all 5 stars!

This AC is great. It cools much better than another brand we have. The fan shuts down when the the AC is not running. It was very easy to put the exhaust hose on and in the window.

Unit come's with extendable hose, adjustable window pane for hose, the remote is not so great as you have to directly point at the unit and half the time doesn't recognize input, I should have gone with the next model up as it supports Bluetooth phone app. The unit come's with all necessary peripherals to set up easily, it has a sleek design, it does cool it just take's about 5 minutes to get going, other than that it's a solid unit.

The complete kit! Everything needed to set up in your window and the unit itself works very well to cool my bedroom, plus the noise level is low for sleeping and the night time setting works well. I had some issues getting the hose to attach securely to the end pieces and not a problem with the unit itself but with the size of the windows in my 200 year old house, if I used both of the sliding metal pieces of the window insert the hole for the exhaust hose was covered. I used one piece and the foam and adhesive weatherstripping and was able to make it work. So be aware of the width of your windows.

Summer of humidity is blocked by this crisp, cool window unit. I did the research for energy efficiency, price, sound and coverage. Runs quiet! Fairly easy to install - moderate weight so I needed a partner to help secure it in the window. The shipping box is interesting - slides off.

Overall a 5-star recommend. Don't live with an old clunky unity. This is on track to pay for itself the first summer.

Cools well, neat functions, minimal drainage/condensation. Could be a little stronger at cooking though (considering it’s size and energy consumption).

Great Air Conditioner with two issues. It has quite a surge when you start it up (light dimming) and it sounds like a jet liner taking off on the high fan setting. However, it really does the job.

Setup was easy, it’s pretty effective for our main living space and it worked in a sliding horizontal window! It sounds like a fan, but I don’t mind the background noise.

I live in an upstairs apartment with southwest facing windows. It gets pretty hot on the summer. Since the windows have a plastic frame, it’s too awkward for a windows unit in my bedroom so I got this portable unit. It was the most btus I could find that I didn’t have to have shipped. It really helps to cut down on the heat and humidity, though I wish it were stronger. It can take a while for it to cool things down in the evenings when I get home from work. Though the Sun is blazing against that side of the house, and the windows. Blackout curtains help significantly, but this place is old, and I can’t be sure how good the wiring is, which can effect functionality.

It’s a nice and a quality product. I’ve tried it for a few hot days now.

There is room for improvements. I had to seal the union points between plastic pieces since I realized hoy air was coming in from there. This helped a lot. I could tell the difference. I don’t understand how insignia can’t see/fix this design issues.

The AC helps a lot but I don’t think it can actually really COOL a 350 sqf space as expected.

I like it. It does the job. And for the price I don’t regret after all since I needed a wall AC and those are far more expensive. And I like the fact I can move this AC from one room/window to another.

This ac is just what I needed. It takes about 2 hours to cool down an apartment sized living room. My unit is 750 sq ft. Also, it’s a tad noisy.

Awful experience, it took us 2 hours to set it up, and when we turned it on, a horrible noise came inside the conditioner and then a sharp plastic broken sound burst out. After turning it off we look from the back, several broken plastic pieces were inside. Has to go back and return it, definitely will never try this brand at all.

I am by no means a picky consumer so I will say that this air conditioner was a absolute great buy! We bought it since we live in a one bedroom upstairs apartment and heat rises so our bedroom would be an oven. Between me and my wife we installed it with the window kit in about 10 minutes or less. We love the remote control it comes with and leave it on running for about a couple hours until the cool night kicks in. Our bedroom is medium size and it cools it efficiently within 15 minutes or so to a cool 75 degrees. We have yet to move it to the living room since the most important thing to us is to sleep cool so we haven’t tested it in on a bigger room but the power on it probably won’t cool it as well but it might be better then no cooling at at. Overall would recommend to someone looking to sleep and be comfortable in their bedroom.

It’s expensive, but new that’s the price you are looking at. Has a swing option to move the air around which works great. Had one month on every day, no issues.

Follow the square footage on the package, it can’t do the entire open space but does cool what it promises.

Easy install.

I just set this up and am pleased with how quick it cooled down the bedroom. Machine is not too loud compared to other portable AC units I’ve had in the past. I will say that for the amount you pay, their brackets and parts should come in better shape. I the parts out of the box and found the part that goes on the window already slightly broken. Luckily I could still use it as is but for the price you pay I expect the parts to not look like this.

This is a very sturdy looking air conditioner, very heavy but looks nice as well. There was a broken knob which is never good it was laying in the box. Only the 1st few days it's on but cools the living room nicely. Good except for the knob.

My old Best Buy bought Frigidaire air conditioner fell out the window and disintegrated so I needed a new one and did not want to deal with a window model again so I got this 6,000 btu Insignia portable a/c, my first one of its type. So far I like it.. it's easy to put the exhaust hose out the window.. this carries heat to the outside and the unit itself, while heavy, rolls around smoothly on wheels. The A/C can get pretty cold so I have to watch the temperature. I like how when you turn the a/c on the vent first rises and then the a/c starts. The remote that it comes with works well and has many functions. You can control the vent angle with the remote. You can also turn the LED lights on and off which is a thoughtful inclusion. The exhaust tube gets mildly warm but I don't think it has much effect on the cooling power of the a/c to be honest. So yeah, overall, I like it. It works good, no window dangers, is easy to transport and has a great price here at BB.

Bought this a couple weeks ago. There weren't any reviews when I purchased so I really blindly purchased because it was the cheapest portable air conditioner I could find.

PROs

Blows cold air. Blasts cold air in an up down motion.

Easy to install. Remote makes it convenient to turn on and off.

CONs

Super heavy. Was a pain to carry up stairs. You need to separate about a foot and a half from wall and window. Maybe all portable ac units require this but I didn't know that when I purchased. Would've been useful info to have when I purchased. Floor needs to be level or you hear noises. I have carpet so I needed a 2ft by 3ft piece of wood to place under ac unit to level the unit. The unit is pretty loud when it's on full power. If temp is close to what you set it to reach then ac unit isn't noticeably loud. But if its 85 and you set desired temp at 65 then unit is pretty loud. I have to increase volume of my TV when AC unit is loud. If its 70 and you set to 65 then ac unit is not loud at all.

Overall I would recommend product because it works. I was worried product might break in a week but I've come to rely on it more and more. So far it's very dependable. Because of pandemic I've been working at in my bedroom but the heat made me lazy. This unit keeps me cool during my workouts. Everytime it blasts cold air when it's hot I'm like...this was so worth it.

Works exactly has advertised and works very well at cooking media room. This is a room with a lot of electronics and afternoon full sun. I recommend this to anyone who needs a way to cool one room and save money from cooking entire house.

This AC unit was definitely a good buy. I use it to cool down my garage. I live in Texas where temperatures can be 100+. It def works and I would advise anyone to purchase it.

Works solid so far. Had it a few days. Cold air. It arrived all marked up. Not sure what that's about. It's supposed to be new. Maybe it's part of the design. If it is, I don't like it. Looks dirty. Oh well, they don't make things like they used to.

I have this unit installed for a couple of weeks now. It's pretty quiet compared to my older De'longhi. Ice cold air thats great for a small to regular size bedroom. One concern I have is the amount of condensation which drains out the hose. It seems to be more than my older unit. It would be very convenient if you can run the hose outside the window so you don't have to constantly be worried about the water building up in a bucket. This unit also comes with everything you need to install. Insulation tape and foam included. Having the remote control is a plus! Overall I'm happy with the unit.

I got it delivered on a day my room was 92 degrees. No lie, within twenty minutes it was 75 degrees. I love having this machine. It's heavy duty. It's a pleasant addition to my living area. It would be great for a studio or if you sublet a room. Even for just a room to room hookup. You need the exhaust hose though so mutiple hoses or window installations are recommended for that. Great machine, so far SO GOOD!

Very happy I bought …it’s perfect size for any small space!

After researching online, including reviews in Consumer Reports, decided on this unit. After shopping around, Amazon had the best price, but anyone who's ever done business with Best Buy knows that when it comes to the overall promise of making the customer happy, only Costco is in the same ballpark. After getting on the phone to make the order, Best Buy matched Amazon's price. Nuff said.

The only "shortcoming" is that the window adapter wouldn't work in any of my windows and especially the window where I chose to install it. I'm DIYer, so fabricating a window adapter using scraps that I had around was not a big deal.

The other thing to be aware of is that it is recommended that you put these units on one circuit by itself. I originally had it on a circuit that shared a computer, some lights, and a TV. The plugs got hot to the touch. It was probably still safe, but not wanting to take a chance, I ran an extension cord from an outside plug that had nothing else on it. Problem solved.

This AC has some minor downsides, but is overall excellent at its main job -- cooling. I purchased it after another AC (single-hose model with 10000 BTU, advertised for a 450 sq ft room) didn't cool my room properly. This one does the job with power to spare.

Pros:

1) Powerful. (As far as portable ACs go. All portable ACs are less efficient than normal window ACs)

2) Quiet (as far as portable ACs go). While no portable AC is pleasant to be next to, this one is about as a fan. It's a little quieter than my previous, less powerful portable AC. The noise level doesn't change much when the compressor turns on or off.

Cons (compared to that other AC):

1) Takes a little time (30 min) and effort to assemble. Needs a screwdriver for initial assembly and even to adjust the size of the window panel. Painful to detach hoses from the window panel unless you read the manual and know the trick (it's supposed to be twisted).

I can see that for certain size of window, you'd need to cut the plastic panel for it to fit perfectly. My window was large enough that I didn't need to do this.

2) The UI and the remote are not great. The only way to see what temperature the room is currently at is to switch it to a fan mode. The display is hard to read, especially once the backlight turns off. The remote is supposed to show what the AC is set to, but its display easily gets out of sync with the actual setting.

This has saved our lives last summer and this one. With all the smoke and extreme heat we can't depend on the Pacific Ocean to cool the nights and open windows and fans to cool the house down. This has worked really well. We close up the rest of the house and it has to work hard to cool about half the house, but it manages. It's supposed to be a room AC and we have been getting it to cool 3 rooms and a hallway. It's pushing it but keeps the house to a comfortable temp.

We have put HEPA filter over the intake more of a jury riig to deal with the smoke and it seems to handle the reduced air flow on the intake ok. Doubt the engineers would like it, but we need to filter the air when it's 170AQI or more!

Portable on wheels around the house is always a plus. Delivery time was very fast. Upon receiving I let the unit stand still overnight from transit travel. Nice and quiet it’s cool off very quickly making it comfortable. I would recommend purchasing a upper drain hose and a drain tray for catching water during those humid days. The dual hose is a plus and well worth the purchase of this 12,000 BTU glad I bought on sale. Great buy

Quiet, efficient, and effective! Easy to use and hook up!

At 12000 BTU it cools my apartment really good.. TIP: Having a fan to help blow and filter the cool air through out my place works best, if you have large place I recommend getting a fan. It’s quiet as well depending what level you use but even at it's highest the noise isn't not bad... Whats really cool is that it allows you to set it on a timer to turn on or off if you’re not a home. So that really helps especially if you’re just trying to cool down a particular room like your bedroom before you get home.

I bought this to put in the master bedroom which is a little under 400 sq ft. This bedroom is west facing and heats up every evening as a result. It is also farthest from central AC unit and gets very low airflow. Our son's room is right next to central AC and I cannot equalize temps at night. Rather than freezing out our son, I got this to maintain a temperature in our bedroom. It is 3 feet away from the bed. I don't find the sound from it to be annoying at all. The compressor turning on and off my bother some people, but it is an AC, this is what they do. You can be hot with no AC or tolerate a compressor starting. If it bothers you they sell earplugs to help mitigate. I really like the dual hose design but I had to use the continuous drain option for the water. I created my own hose connection that drains into a bucket since it is humid where we live. For our purpose, this works great.

This portable unit is ideal. I like that it takes in and lets out the air simultaneously. I can cool two rooms and a hallway if its not super hot outside. The only unexpected tool i needed was a drip pan to catch the condensation buildup. Satisfied with my purchase.

Omg I read a lot of the reviews in here and most of them wasn’t really good but I decided to buy it anyway and it’s amazing how cold it is and the noise is normal like every ac portable better than the old one that I have

Purchased this for newly enclosed back porch. The porch is enclosed in clear plastic sheets. Item works great to cool it down, even on plus 90 degree weather and heat indexes of over 100. Add a small box fan or two with the ceiling fan and it makes it feel like your in the house. Oldest son recommended it to me after he bought one. Very pleased with it!

Bought this AC unit on sale for my apartment bedroom since the in wall AC unit is in the living room on the opposite of the apartment which never reaches the bedroom - unsure of the actual Sq. Footage but it’s a decent size room with walk-in closet. Had this setup & running w/in 15min of unboxing and w/in est. 20min the room was cold. Works very well, easy setup, multiple functions/features, display & remote very user friendly and straightforward. With all the uncomfortable sleepless nights during the summer this was well worth the investment & would recommend to others.

Wow don’t trust you guys any longer.Just got my excellent condition AC delivered in pieces. Very frustrated with you guys as now my senior dad a state away has to try and muscle this it your store for a return.. not dealing with Best Buy any longer after this order. Pieces broke and no remote

I should’ve bought 1 more .. works great the only thing is when setting it to your window the locks don’t really stay if your trying to install yourself you need someone to help you hold while you close your window cause it keeps coming down and the screw that came with it kinda worked but you need 2 .

This unit really cools fast , after searching different places we bought this one not only because GE brand is a respectable brand , we bought another unit before with 14000 btu Hisense brand and after 6 hours on full got nothing cold , so we return it and got this one . The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because I think the price is can be better and not that high and I normally like units with direct flow tours me and not aim that high , but in 15 and using it on low setting my 20x 25 room feels really cold .

Also I hope future units come with longer exhaust to have better placement if want accommodate not so close to window ( maybe 2 feet extra helps )

The reviews of this unit did not let me down! Love the remote. When temperature reached the unit idles. During the 100* days Outside kept room at 72*.

Replaced my old portable AC unit in my garage that had broke with this one. This thing is remarkable, and all the features work as they should.

Note I live in South florida, with extreme humidity nearly year-round, and the drying feature works wonderfully in the garage. When I use the dry feature, I will periodically check the drain at the bottom back of the unit just to drain a little excess. I've never had the unit shut off with too much water in the tank though. How it does this automatically is amazing. Otherwise everything is exactly as it should be. This is not meant to cool an entire house, so keep your expectations realistic. I've noticed that many reviews say that this thing is very loud, it's not very loud at all considering the product you're buying. It has three fan speeds and the lowest one is very quiet.

This is my third portable air conditioner. The other two are still working and not giving me any trouble. The GE I'm reviewing is the best portable that I have seen so far. In general, you will never get as much cooling power with a portable because it just isn't designed the same way. As portables go, this unit is doing a great job for the task it was designed for. It cools a room about 500 sq ft and, although it won't bring the room down to 70 when the outside temperature is 90, it creates a noticeably more comfortable air temp. The other units I own are smaller (from different brands) that I use for 100 sq ft rooms and they don't do nearly as well even though they say they are designed for 200+ sq ft rooms. I like the way the exhaust pipe is coming out of the unit perpendicular to the floor. This configuration makes it much easier to vent through a window or door. It is not quiet but no worse than my other two units. Overall, if you take into account that a portable air con cannot be expected to match a wall unit, this unit is an excellent performer.

The unit was purchased early in the Summer and I can honestly say that it worked better than I expected. I had never used a portable air conditioner and I heard some stories and anecdotes that it wasn't efficient or that it just didn't work. It did it's job. It actually did more than it's job because I had to run the hose out of a window a bit further from the area that I needed cooled and it still worked well. The only slight complaint would be that the hose is a bit short. Otherwise I was very pleased.

Very cold air is exhausted into the room but you only feel it when standing directly in front. The pieces that form the window mount for the exhaust hose are complete garbage. One side panel doesn’t “lock” into place with the little plastic lever. The hose end does NOT stay connected to the plastic mounting piece. I am holding it together with duct tape. Even then, the minimal weight from the lightweight exhaust hose pulls just enough for the whole contraption to keep coming loose. I think Im going to return this because it’s too much supervision. Every time it dislodges incredibly hot air rushes into the room from the exhaust hose.

It works but does not cool down the room as much as it should I set it to 70 but the room tem stays at 77 !

This portable AC cools our 550 sqft. living room from 84° down to 73° in about 2 hours. We had to use insulating curtains to block the cool air from going through the doorway leading to our kitchen. To get this AC to work in our living room with our sliding patio door, we had to buy a vertical sliding door portable AC hose adapter. What I like about this AC is it is exceptionally quiet, more so than our Fridgedaire Gallery cylindrical portable AC in our master bedroom! It isn't equipped with Wi-Fi so it lacks smart feature which we enjoy using with our Fridgedaire. It definitely came in handy during the fire season here in SoCal, where it reached 102° along the beaches! If you're thinking of getting one, don't hesitate until another heat wave strikes and all AC sold out. Get one today!

I love this unit. It's not super strong and doesn't blast out cold air like my last one did, but it is plenty strong for what I need. I have a 600 sq. ft. condo and this is in the living room and cools superbly. If you have a larger unit, you might want the next size up in BTUs. This one is 10,000 and is great for my place. Plus it is very quiet and very attractive. I am very pleased.

It does a well enough job to cool our bedroom (11'x14'). But I'm not sure how well it do in a living room setting.

This was my first portable air conditioner I have purchased. I just got replacement vinyl windows and was concerned with a window air conditioner in my bonus room. Great choice. I would buy it again. No need to empty that condensate tank as it dries itself. Looks nice too.

Needed something in room above my garage. I don't know why it took me so long to consider. Wish I had bought it long a go. Very easy to set-up. Definitely does the job.

We purchased this AC for our kitchen that has a double oven, so it gets super hot. It definitely helps cool down the large kitchen even when the doors are open. Obviously with the doors open it take a while longer but it was a good purchase. Connecting the exhaust was tricky and some of the pieces were damaged at initial purchase - but I was able to work around that - so couldn't give it 5 stars

Got this for our bedroom, it does blow cold air however mainly only in one direction. Does not get the room as cold as I would like. It barely cracks the 75 mark on hot days. Now the real problem, the exhaust tube is paper thin and has torn at least 7 times. I have more duct tape on it than I care to mention. This needs to be remedied Honeywell.

Good performance. I searched a lot for the proper AC and this was almost good in every review out there. Happy with my purchase. It Came brand new (some say it was used, it was not in my case) and good packaging. The window mount is a little bit flimsy and bends out in my setup, but it works just fine. Get some sealer for your window for sure.

Chose this one because other models I was looking at had EER of 10; this one was supposed to be just over 11. Turns out it's an 8.6.

Just got it unpacked so I haven't given it a fair test of function, but product misinformation is a major issue in my opinion. :/

So far we've only needed our (master) bedroom to be cold and thats what it does. Our room is smaller than 500 sq ft, (apartment living yaaay. ) Some reviews mentioned that its loud but it's not like what i expected. The black box fan from Walmart is louder than this. It fit vertically in our window. The only eye sore is the hoses but its fine. Id rather be cold with an eyesore than melting with no ac. As for the setup, the boyfriend didnt want to mOvE tHe XbOx

Great ac... only 2 issues, the dual hoses are pretty big in diameter, and the blower itself doesn't have much control of where you want the air to flow... other than that, this really cools the place down! Pics showing custom window insert I had made for hoses..

Great for those w/o central AC & doesn’t want a window unit. This was used to replace a portable AC from several years ago that didn’t do much. The upgrade is fantastic! Just keep in mind that although this isn’t as powerful as a window unit, it’s likely one of the best performing portable units out there.

The hoses could be designed better so that they are further apart but beside that this is pretty nice.

I bought this to replace a discontinued model that lasted 9 years. I'm using this unit to cool a 2-car garage that's used as a work room. The rooms insulation is not great but this thing keeps the temp in the low to mid 70's with the outside temp in the 90's. Runs quiet and the remote is easy to use. I'm happy with it so far.

Reviewing the Whynter ARC-14S, portable AC unit.

Pros: It works well for the room size (~12'x15'x10'). Very powerful and cools effectively. Easy to wheel around. Intake and Exhaust hoses extend quite a bit, so you have a little flexibility in placing the unit. Maintained temperature well.

Cons: It's pretty loud. The light from the control panel is very bright and you cannot turn it (the panel) off. It is a big unit, and very heavy if you need to lift it.

Comments: It's a lot taller than I expected for some reason.

The thing to remember is that it's a portable unit. By default, they're not as good as a window unit, ductless split, or other permanently installed unit. However, the advantage is that they're portable. You can move them around, use it just for those few hot days, or move it to where you may need some additional cooling.

I got this to cool my bedroom at night so I can sleep more comfortably. My HOA doesn't allow window units, and I'd rather not run the central AC to cool the whole house when all I need it for is my bedroom at night. It's a bit large for the size of my room, however, the recommended room sizes tend to be optimistic. (e.g. a unit that says it's for 500 sq.ft. is not going to handle that much space except under optimum conditions).

It's noticeably louder than the fan I was using in the window to try to keep the air moving. I can still sleep with it going on as it's more or less just white noise, but if you're a light sleeper, or sensitive to noise you can forget it. The blue light is actually more distracting to me. It's nearly bright enough to read by in a darkened room, and there's no way to turn it off. However, that is easily remedied by putting a couple of post-it notes over the panel. There is no way to muffle the noise however. The compressor is louder than the fan inside the unit, so the fan setting doesn't really matter while the compressor is running. The fan by itself is reasonably quiet in the lowest mode.

The window kit that comes with the unit extends to a maximum of about 46". That was about 8" shorter than my vertical sliding window opening. The first night I filled the gap with a piece of cardboard, which worked OK. However, I was a little concerned about losing the cool air through the plastic/cardboard, so I purchased some rigid insulating foam board from the hardware store, and am using just the hose connection panel with the remaining gap filled by the foam. I would recommend at least using some foam insulating tape (not included) around the edges of the window kit for a better seal.

Overall, I'm pleased with the unit. The two things I'd wish for would be for it to be quieter, and have some way of turning off the panel light. If you're not trying to use it in your bedroom, I would think that this would be excellent for spot-cooling any reasonably sized room.

We wanted a larger, quieter air conditioner and were put off by weight of a larger window unit. The LG LP1419IVSM is as powerful, efficient and quiet as it is claimed to be. The WiFi connectivity comes in handy when you are away too. It’s no wonder why this unit sells out so quickly. Thanks LG!

Life saving product for the summer Have enjoyed for me my family and you can enjoy it as well

I was using another brand and they finally went out on me. Having to go out and buy a new one at this time is not what I wanted to do. But Summer is coming and it may be hard to find a good one. So I have been using a week now and the room is nice and cold. This unit is much much quieter than past units. This would be a great investment if you need a good AC.

We used this AC unit for 2-3 weeks before returning it. Honestly, it did not cool down our 500sq foot room as well as we'd hoped. It's also pretty loud as well. We ended up swapping it for an LG in wall unit that's working much better than a this portable unit did. However, I did like the wifi options, it was a nice touch.

Let's start with a controversial topic: Yes, you will hear a very slight high pitched sound when the compressor turns on. Similar to when turning on a tube TV back in the day. However, after 3 days of using this AC, I barely even hear it anymore as I've gotten used to it. I almost didn't buy this AC because of reviews complaining about it - It's not that bad, seriously.

Second, the App for this AC is mediocre. Not very optimized, has slow loading times, but it still dos its job of being able to control the AC when I'm not home and set schedules from my phone. Big plus for me.

I don't use the dehumidifier setting so I don't have issues with needing to drain my AC.

All in all, although it's worth a pretty penny, I'm happy with this portable AC. I am looking to buy another for a different room in the house, though it says sold out...

While I’m not a fan of portable A/Cs this one has changed my mind a bit. So happy I ordered before summer. It’s about as quiet as you’d want to sleep with. WiFi controls are great and shows power usage. Fantastic unit if you have to go with this style of A/C. Highly recommended!

As a standalone AC unit it works as advertised; however, the advanced Remote/WiFi/Voice features have a long way to go.

For standalone AC it does the job. Cooling, Fan, Dehumidifier, and Auto modes. I've only tried Cooling/Fan/Auto but they work and it cools a room effectively.

My frustrations are with Remote/WiFi/Voice features. Had difficulty with the Honeywell Air Comfort Alexa Skill just like many other reviewers; however, I was able to get it to connect and work. It's not great but some basic commands do function. I had some issues connecting at first as well.

Below are a few learnings that may help others:

NOTE: All of these are for Honeywell Portable AC HF0CESVWK6 and Alexa Echo Dot

~~ Honeywell AC Unit WiFi Connectivity & App Usage ~~

1: As instructed, the app "Honeywell Air Comfort" is required. Registration is required to use the app (free). The Registration process will then guide you to a place to start WiFi setup and device connection.

2: I had more luck using the onboard buttons on the AC instead of using the remote.

- 2a: Press and hold the WiFi button on the AC until it beeps. This means it's ready for WiFi connection and it worked for me once I followed the prompts in the app. Note the prompts do walk you through how to prep the AC unit (as mentioned before), configure WiFi, then temporarily swap to the AC unit's hotspot instead of your home WiFi. I could see this being a challenge for many people as it isn't very intuitive... but reading carefully does the trick.

- 2b: The app tried to tell me to use the remote for this instead. Instructed to hold both the "Mode" (9 dots in a square) and "Swing" (Partial Pie Chart) buttons at once. This didn't work for me but in hindsight I think it's because the remote REQUIRES LINE OF SIGHT to the AC. The remote will give a false positive that it did something but the AC unit itself didn't recognize it. Easy to test this just by trying On/Off with the remote from different sight lines.

3: The temp control works in the app but a little finicky. Such as the +/- buttons only work one at a time and the unit must confirm the previous increase before it lets you do the next. Click +/- rapidly won't help. Do one at a time and wait for it to catch up. The app all has a radial visual and you can click around the 'dial' in the app to 'jump' to that temp. However the DIAL IN THE APP IS LARGER THAN THE ACTUAL RANGE OF THE AC UNIT. I noticed I could only use about ~12 - 3 o'clock on the radial to be in the 60 - 90 degree range. Below or above that just bugs out and typically does nothing helpful.

4. Basic WiFi functions over app like On, Off, Fan Speed, Mode, and others generally worked fine. Just the temp control was finicky.

5. For me the WiFi HoneyWell app functions worked on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequencies.

~~ Honeywell Air Comfort Alexa Skill Enablement/Link ~~

1. In Alex app the Auto Discover/Scan Device never worked for me.... but there is hope per below.

2. Ensure to enable "Honeywell Air Comfort" skill and not the "Honeywell Home", "Honeywell Total Connect Comfort", or other apps.

3. Linking the Skill required me to provide the same Honeywell username info I provided to the Honeywell app itself before. Note the linking UI for this Skill in the Alex UI has some odd looks. It prompts you for phone or email but it looks like phone only as it has the region extension by default. For me the PHONE DID NOT WORK to link. I HAD TO USE MY EMAIL to get it to link (same as the Honeywell app... which never asked for phone but did ask for email).

4. Even after linking I found it difficult to then find the device. Auto discover failed. For me I had to switch my phone WiFi from 5GHz to 2.4GHz before it finally worked. Reading the Honeywell AC unit Owners Manual also says only 2.4GHz is supported.

5. Even on 2.4Ghz it still didn't quite auto discover right away... however, after tapping in circles through the Alexa app I eventually found it. Once I was on 2.4Ghz and the Skill enabled... I just checked Devices and found it had auto discovered it on it's own some time prior. It is under the category of "Thermostats" then "Air Conditioner". So it wasn't finding it because it had already found it... guess I just wasn't paying attention. Alas, it was finally connected.

~~ Skill Voice Commands ~~

1. Both the Honeywell App and Alexa had the device named as "Air Conditioner" by default. I was happy to find it also responds to "AC" by default. So "Air Conditioner" or "AC" work out of the box. Basic "Alexa, Turn ON the Air Condition" and "Alexa, Turn OFF the Air Conditioner" worked perfectly.

2. VOICE COMMAND ON/OFF: Basic "Alexa, Turn ON the Air Condition" and/or "Alexa, Turn OFF the AC" worked perfectly.

3. VOICE COMMAND TEMP CHANGE: After much frustrating I finally got this to work. In short... the Alexa app defaulted and display FAHRENHEIT but then secretly converts it to CELSIUS when sending to the AC Unit. I checked every setting possible (Alex, Honeywell Skill, Honeywell App, AC Unit itself) and NOWHERE can I see why this is happening.

Honeywell AC Unit/App <-> Alexa Skill TEMP CONVERSION:

60 <-> 140 (Min)

69 <-> 156

75 <-> 167

90 <-> 194 (Max)

So I was able to say "Alexa, change the Air Conditioner to 194 degrees"... which changed the AC to 90 F (Max). And "Alexa, change the Air Conditioner to 140 degrees"... which changed the AC to 60 F (Min).

4. I have found voice commands that work for other settings like Fan Speed, Mode, Swing, Sleep, etc. Just On/Off and Temp Control. Nor does the manual or onsite listing of the Honeywell product list the commands. AND the Alexa skill description itself has example commands that are clearly incorrect and/or copied from some unrelevant template.

Conclusion: After much frustration the unit does connect to WiFi, link with Alexa, and retain basic On/Off + Temp Control voice commands. It's just quite buggy in it's implementation. I'm not in love with it but it does meet bare minimum needs. Hoping this app/skill logic and features get an overhaul soon...

OMG it was 108 degrees and this bad boy showed up and got to work. It was easy to hook up. and by that I mean a tube in the window, and a plug in the wall. Not as heavy as I was expecting. Summer is in full swing and this guy is working hard.

I based my decision on the Honeywell brand because mostly these units are not easily serviceable. So far so good. This unit is making a good job during these unusual hot days in Washington State.

My mom is elderly and lives in a small apartment with no real air circulation so it’s extremely important for her to stay cool especially with all the hot weather we have had lately. This was a welcome purchase.

Blasts cold air, but very loud. Also cycles on/off numerous times during the night instead of just maintaining a constant fan speed with air conditioning modulation.

I already have a few window units in my house, but the back room gets pretty warm during family gatherings. I didn't want to block the view out of my back windows or permanently install another unit, so this unit's low profile and portability work well for me. I can install it when I need it and store it in my closet when it is not needed.

Pros

- Wireless remote with a display for status information

- Quiet operation compared to a window unit of similar size. Able to hold normal conversations and watch TV with no issue.

- Sleek design

- Easy to use controls

- Unit cycles as needed to control set temperature

- Easy setup - only takes a few minutes (after initial setup)

- Wireless remote storage and cord management are great

- Has a mode to just dry/dehumidify air

Setup

- The initial install was easy, but I did have to cut one side of the window insert to fit my 34" window. The window insert has 3 pieces (a center section and 2 adjustable side sections that connect to it with locking cams). The side sections slide in and out to fit the window, but they can't be too long or they block the center section's vent. The center plus one side section was too short, so I cut the second one down to 6" by scoring it with a box cutter and snapping it.

- The window insert fits snug, but there are still small gaps along the top - I recommend using some foam weather stripping to fill these gaps (not included).

- Wheels and integrated handles make moving it around easy, but it is still heavy if you have to lift it.

- The ring for attaching the vent hose to the unit clicks in and requires a fair bit of pressure (it is new so this might get better over time).

- The exterior vent does not have a screen to keep bugs or debris out. This was not an issue for me since you can leave your window screen in place.

Things to Consider

- This unit draws air from inside the house and exhaust it outside to expel heat - this air must be made up by drawing air from outside from other sources (vents or drafty doors/windows). This could be an issue if your house is well sealed (creating a negative pressure) or if it is really hot or humid outside (as it is pulling in this hot/humid air as it cools the room).

- The vent louver can be set to swing up and down to better spread out the cool air, but you can not adjust it manually. The louver is only adjustable via the remote (don't lose it) and no matter what position it is in, most of the air blows up and to the right.

- This unit tries to evaporate most condensation it makes, but you might still need to empty the internal tank occasionally. It does not have a bucket that you can remove and dump. If you have a low window or a floor drain you can connect a hose to the upper drain and use it continuously, otherwise you have to use the lower drain when the tank is full. The instructions suggest collecting this water in a pan, but it seems like that would be awkward since the drain is only a couple inches off the floor. My unit is only a few feet from the back door so I was able to roll it outside and drain it on the patio before storing it.

GE - 350 Sq. Ft. Portable Air Conditioner

Sometimes you just have to cool a room or space that is oppressively hot. I want to pursue my woodworking during months that are insanely hot here in the south and I only need it for those limited number of months. This GE Air Conditioner is a sleek, effective, easy-to-operate and move air conditioner that is getting the job done for me.

This free-standing, portable room air-conditioner is rated at 6700 BTU (Newest DOE measurement; compares to previous 10,000 ASHRAE measurement of cooling power). It has 3 cooling settings, 3 fan speeds, includes a window venting kit, and its louver can be set to automatically sweep up and down to ensure the cool air is distributed in the room.

SETUP: It’s ready to operate right out of the very protective box. The window vent kit is nicely designed, but it really looks better suited for the classic, older style windows, with simple side tracks and places to easily tack it in place so it won’t shift. My much newer windows have busy side tracks with molded glides and a mix of metal and vinyl insulating trim. It complicates the placement of the kit, but it’s still doable. I’m also a fan of some added insulation around the vent hose and to augment the window plastic insert. I’ll be adding my own. Ensuring the heat removed by the GE is dumped outside will keep operating costs down and aid in cooling my space.

OPERATION: The Remote control has it all, duplicating all of the touch controls and adding a few of its own. There is a cooling, fan and dehumidifying mode. You can set the automatic room temperature and also a timer to complete your control of the schedule of use. That “SWING” button sets the louvre into motion. Everything just works.

NOISE level, in my judgement, is lower in level and less annoying than I remember of my various wall air conditioners in a previous home. As my (uncalibrated) noise meter image indicates, the average level was 68dB at the middle fan setting from 1 meter away. The meter (see picture) describes this level as “Quiet Street” and shows that most of the noise energy is in the lowest frequencies. My previous air conditioners had an annoying “shhhh” sound which is much higher in frequency. While this is higher than my average home level (42-44dB) of sound, it is lower than any vacuum we own or, certainly any of my tools. It’s easy to live with.

SUMMARY: The GE can cool a space with little fuss to set up, less annoyance, and a good set of controls. It even looks good. Recommended.

It takes a long time to cool the 15x15 Ft room - a lot of heat is generated from the exhaust pipe.

The instructions on installing the exhaust/window kit are almost useless. Furthermore, the window kit that comes with this is only for very large or casement windows - nowhere is this indicated, in the advertisement, on the package, in the manual. I would think that this feature would be an important point to state, as it is a crucial part of the installation!

Though GE was polite, they would not give me a smaller replacement kit, and told me that I should return the appliance to the store. A big inconvenience to the buyer for what would be a small issue for them. Very disappointed.

Wish it came with a hose and bucket or sort to empty condensation out with.

So today was a hot day in southern California. Outside temp was near 90 degrees. Inside my WFH upstairs bedroom it reached 79 degrees. Turning this unit on dropped the temp down my 2 degrees in a few minutes. I coupled it with the ceiling fan and I was nice and comfy again. No sweating bullets while on my zoom or MS Teams calls.

The coils have not frozen over yet even after prolonged use so that is good. I did not test the dehumidifier because Southern California is already dry and barely any moisture to remove.

I would recommend this product. I can't give it 5 stars but almost 5 stars for it's intended use and highlights outweigh the not so highlights.

If you're debating between a window a/c and a portable unit like this one, it's important to know their differences. It's fairly obvious the window unit is harder to install, not portable, and will take up half your window (depending on the size of the window). This portable one rolls around on casters and has a large exhaust air hose that connects to a lightweight and easy to install window adapter.

The less obvious difference is the efficiency between them. A window unit is more energy efficient. The heat is exchanged directly to the outside, and most importantly, condensation from the cooled air is drained directly outside.

With the portable unit, the heat exchange is all inside the portable unit, then the hotter air is blown through the hose out the window. Ideally, some of the condensation from the cooled air is also re-evaporated and blown out with the hot air. If there's too much condensation, then it'll pool in the internal tank and will eventually need to be drained. That hot air being vented outside has to be replaced, and it'll come from more outside air being drawn into the building through air leaks.

Though you save window space with this, it does take up a lot of floor space inside. The unit itself isn't that big, but the specs say it needs to be 30" from the wall and also to keep 30" clear around the rest of it for air flow. For my application, this becomes a problem. I wanted to use it in a bonus room above my garage that only has one window. But, unfortunately, I don't have a lot of free floor space (a home office, exercise equipment, etc.) so this isn't going to fit very well.

The condensation drain also needs to be accessed with enough room for a flat pan of some sort to catch the water. The drain plug is only 1" off the floor, so that's not convenient at all (see photo). I live in the south with a lot of humidity in the summer, so it's a given that not all the condensate will evaporate and get sent out the exhaust port.

Another issue is sealing the plastic plate that goes in the window for the exhaust hose connection. I have a 28" window which is well within the 20"-46" range they say it fits. The problem is at 28" the track extends into the opening for the hose which prevents you from connecting the hose (see photo). The only solution would be to cut the track to shorten it by an inch or two. This seems like a not well-thought-out design.

Finally, it's a small thing, but they don't include any foam pieces to seal the space between the double hung windows that's created when you have the window open, or anything to help seal around the plastic bracket that holds the exhaust hose. Without that, there are huge gaps around the plastic and a lot of outside air would constantly be flowing back in.

As the Shark Tank people would say, for these reasons I'm out. It may work fine in other environments, but for me I'm going to have to stick with my GE window a/c unit.

Purchased the GE Smart Portable AC unit just as a heat wave hit us here in California. After 4 nights of no ac, went online bought the unit, and picked it up curbside an hour later. Easy to setup, works well with app. Highly recommend this unit. I will be purchasing another one for my office.

Good looking unit. Quiet, cools well. It does not seem to be quite as good as the 10K window unit it replaced. But that old one leaked water all over my carpet. Easy to install however my window size forced me to cut one of the panels. Other then that, no complaints.

This AC works perfectly for my small apartment! Definitely keeps the place cool. However, the attachments that go into my window do not fit as well as expected. Installation was rather difficult because the tube must be put in the center of my vertical window which makes it tight and the tubes wants to pull off of the window slat. This also only came with one screw.

Removed a star for couple of reasons:

1. the exhaust tube is very flimsy and thin and is pretty short. Two window inserts supplied with the unit go one ot top of the tube, one on the bottom. You can't change that configuration. This makes the exhaust position pretty high on the window. Along with short tube, unit is stuck at the wall, cant move a little forward.

2 wifi connection took 5-6 tries to connect.

3. Cant adjust horizontal direction of the air coming out. ( Rotating the unit doesnt help much, see short tube above)

From pros, its pretty powerful for a small room and pretty quiet.

Ultimately this is a very good product. I intentionally purchased this unit because of the WiFi capability. I like my room cooled as I'm on my way home, so I like being able to remotely activate the unit so I'm walking into a cool room.

This portable unit is great for vertical sliding windows. However, for vertical sliding windows, this could potentially get a little tricky. My only issue with this unit is with the window bracket. Unfortunately, the extension pieces that are supplied in the box, are attached to the main exhaust outlet panel on either side. What this means is that for horizontal sliding windows, your exhaust hose is stretched to it's maximum capacity because the hose has to reach to the middle of your window. This does not leave much room for moving the unit around on it's wheels when attempting to clean.

Another issue is attaching the exhaust hose to the main unit. Unfortunately this hose does not secure tightly into the main unit. It is rather flimsy and will slip out of the unit if the base is moved around or if there is any movement to the hose.

As far as the cooling capabilities, I'm pleasantly surprised with how well this unit functions. I really like the swing feature where the air conditioner will move the cool air around as it is exiting the unit.

Operates well and not noisy. Cooled our entire porch. New window vent is easier to control than large vent before.

My new kitchen appliance are GE products so I did not hesitate to buy this product when bought as Deal of the Day!

Product as described cools the room quickly. Installation is a breeze. Touch screen to choose the mode and temperature. You can download the app to operate the portable air conditioner remotely.

When you reach the set temperature, fan will take over and will switch back to the air conditioner will a louder noise.

One cool feature if you turn off the air conditioning, the unit will close automatically that will keep the warm air out to your room.

Overall, I'm happy with the air conditioning and hopefully GE will make it a little quiet.

This was my first portable ac, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Set up was challenging (again, maybe it was just my lack of experience?) and the hose was rather short. Other than that, works well! I have a large bedroom and it cools the entire room within minutes.

I bought this for my mom whose swamp cooling was't cooling off her bedroom but unfortunately it was too strong for her electric sockets. It kept shorting out the electricity through the whole house which is not a big place so I do not recommend this for a bedroom alone. Better suited for a living room area or bigger space

After carefully reading the pros and cons of many different PAC's. I choose this one because it seemed the most bang for the buck. But after having it for over a month I ended up returning it because of poor craftsmenship and it didn't perform as advertised. The unit was louder than what was expected and leaked which I didn't notice until I went to return it. I was checking the filter and noticed that a good portion of the fins facing me on the radiator were crushed. I don't know why this unit was not rejected during the QC process at the factory. Because this unit is no longer sold on Best Buys website, I am now having to spend a hundred dollars more to get an equivalent PAC. I was willing to exchange the unit out because it basically did its job and give it the benefit of the doubt that the next unit would not be damaged and I really didn't want to spend more than I had too.

The window panel for the removal of the hot ait is to small, when I called Whynter they said that about 50% of the products have to have the panels modified manual to fit a window.

I was excited to get anew AC with a higher BTU, but it doesn't cool like I thought it would. It kinda looks like a track can too. I'm sure it would work get in a small place but it's not enough for my 650-700 sqft room.

Works great! We have a tiny bedroom and this gets the entire room cold in 5-10 minutes. We live in socal and don't have central air. I also love the sound it makes, I need noise to sleep. We've had it for about a month now and use it every night.

We tried at least 6 portable units in our home last summer, with the intent of returning them right away if they didn't do the job. Unfortunately we were too late with one return, so now we're stuck with a single-hose unit doing nothing in a room upstairs.

Last but far from least is this Whynter dual-hose job! It starts cooling the room down within minutes. We have it in the living room, and our hot guests cool off the minute they walk in. All the other indoor units we tried were single-hose and required some sort of attention re: water residue…how to get rid of it! This unit, the moisture goes out with one of the hoses; we have NO problem with water in the house, no pans needed, no draining hose needed. It's wonderful! I'm pleased enough with this unit that I want to get one for upstairs.

Most importantly, though, is the cooling power it has. And it has it! It topped all other units we brought into the house.

Also an important note: my electric bill went up very, very little. Granted, we don't use this everyday, but during the summer we paid no more than $20 more per month. Perhaps it is because ALL the fans get turned off and we run only this unit for cooling. Again, we're talking maybe running it 8ish hours a day--sometimes less, sometimes more. We never leave it on when we leave the house. We also turn it off at bedtime. Sorry I can't tell you much about installation. We have a thick-cardboard makeshift for the 8-inch opening in our sliding door entry, but will change it to a wood panel when we have time to spend on it. I'm completely satisfied with this product, and highly recommend it to anyone. Trust me, the dual hose makes ALL the difference! Don't waste time and energy on the single hose. It's a pity they don't make more of the dual.

Very easy to set up I dont have any double hung windows in my family room so i had to construct a new setup for my casement window with some plexi glass,the room is approm. 15 x 20 and this unit cools it relatively well , i did put an upright fan in front to help with the cooling,

There is-no support after purchase!!!! AC worked fine Having issues with heating unit filling up with water every few hours. Heater works OK but is not very warm at times. Contacted Best Buy and was sent to several different departments and no one could help. Called support for the device auxac They do not support the Best Buy models because they do not manufacture of the ones with the heating unit.

The portable airconditioner I got has been great. Although it makes quite a bit noise while its on, it still does its just keeping my room cool/cold.

The AC works really well in single rooms. It’s a bit loud but not overbearing. I’m excited to be able to use the heating function and the multiple options really adds value to an already affordable unit.

We ordered this when a triple-digit heatwave was forecast. We usually are able to keep things manageable with fans, but for that kind of heat, an air conditioner is necessary. This is a nice unit - it doesn't cool a very big space, but cools nicely! The portability is nice - we put it in my home office during the day and move it to the bedroom at night. The only issue we had was that the exhaust tube was difficult to get inserted solidly in the window unit. We would recommend this product.

Only cool 1 room. Cool like a 5000 btu not an 18000 btu. Not worth the money.

I am a college student in central Iowa living in a house that is roughly 100 years old. This being said, the insulation is below par and we also do not have central air conditioning. To top it all off, the bedrooms are on the second floor and the month of August can put a damper on our studies due to the overwhelming heat.

In search of an air conditioner/heater that could keep up with the lack of insulation, as well as be portable enough for my mobile life; I found comfort in the Whynter 12,000 BTU air conditioner/11,000 BTU heater. I needed a product that could keep my 400 sq. ft. room cold in the early fall, as well as warm in the winter months. Before having this air conditioner my bedroom temperature resided at a balmy 82 degrees. Once I purchased this product I was able to actually enjoy the functions of my room.

The design of the unit is practical and relatively easy on the eyes. It can blend fairly well in any type of room setting and also has the benefit of being moderately quiet. Also, the unit has rollers beneath, which allows easy transportation around a room as needed.

Installation was a cinch; the package comes with everything required to accommodate relatively any room situation. The venting hoses were plenty long enough and the window venting kit was easy to install into my window. Overall installation time was roughly 15 minutes.

Pros:

1.) Cools my 400 sq. ft. room rapidly and with ease (takes roughly 30 min to cool.)

2.) Relatively light considering the alternative (window air conditioner.)

3.) Versatility (Air conditioner, fan, heater, and dehumidifier.)

4.) Remote control is accommodating when doing homework across the room.

5.) Relatively quiet (able to run the machine at night and sleep well.)

6.) Able to turn the unit on/off multiple times a day to cool my room quickly.

Cons:

1.) The units drainage system is a bad design (water accumulates quickly.)

2.) The digital info screen is bright at night (unit is close to my bed.)

In conclusion, the Whynter dual hose portable air conditioner is easily the best product for your money. After researching and now being able to use the unit, I have found out that I made a knowledgeable choice. I have only had the unit for about two months but have no issues to complain about. The most convenient aspect of this unit is the fact that I can cool my 400 sq. ft. room down rapid in order to be productive quickly.

Is not cold enough for even a small room, it has no auto motion.

I ordered this from bestbuy website and got a delivery and was happy the way it worked for the first few days, however on 18th day the unit stopped blowing cold air. Strangely, all the rest of function like dehumidifier, fan and heater worked fine. There is only one button to switch between ac, fan, dehumidifier and heater. The light went off when i tried turning it on ac and the unit essentially turned into an expensive fan.. I phoned bestbuy and I was told the product is out of 15 day and because I am "A Non-Elite" member, I cannot exchange or return (so if i was to spend more money at bestbuy, my rights would be different as a customer). Now in middle of this unbearable, hot summer, i have to send the ac off to get it repaired by the manufacturer. Just not good enough for a product worth $450!

The air cooler works well for a small room. Not very noisy, it can cool a 400 sq foot room okay. If the setting is not at medium or higher, it will not keep the temperature consistent. The noise is low. I do like it. Stop cooling well if the temperature outside is 100+

This product is great. The air conditioner cools very fast. Have not used the heater yet. Have not used the dehumidifier either; but I want to hook it up so I will have a continuous drain;and not have to worry about it. The customer service is fabulous. I have contacted them severl times and if they do not know the answer they make sure they research and have always answered my question. This means a lot in today's market. Have been telling a lot of people about this great company.

Unit was larger than I anticipated but that is to be expected for 11,000 BTU's. Rolls easy but not across carpet so be careful. Window adapters are pretty easy to set up but pay attention to which side is the exhaust. If you have to set it up in a narrow window where the ports are vertical. Be sure to put the exhaust on top or the hot air will get pulled back in the intake, since heat rises. Other than that, it is pretty quiet and the settings are easy to follow with the remote. Forgot, it is top heavy so be careful with small children around it because it can tip on top of them if they pull on it.

The installation was easy. I have windows that slide sideways, so the two hoses for in and out are one above the other. The first time I turned it on, about four hours later the water tank was full. That surprised me because I thought that the tank would slowly empty itself. So I got 1/4" vinyl tubing, and fed the water to the outside. Quite easy. The unit is about as loud as expected, and you get used to it. We play piano in the same room, it works fine.

Works well, no complaints. Personally don’t think it’s too loud. Cools the room quickly. Tried the heat briefly, seems to work well but it isn’t cold yet so haven’t really used it. Love the wheels, makes moving it easy.

I guess maybe I expected too much for the unit, I just wanted something that would keep the guest house cooler during the few hot days of the year. doesn't really do the job.

Money well spent. Awesome. Easy to use. Well built. I only wished that it has the standard size male end of a garden hose so you can attach one like a dehumidifier. I am sure I can get an adapter. Excellent!

Great product, except that it came a bit damaged, still waiting on an e-mail response back from the company and to hopefully receive a new hose. It works fairly well with the state it’s in. Pretty sure I would give it five stars I think, if the hose didn’t come damaged.

Came with defective remote control, store could not exchange just the remote since they didn't have this in stock. Contacted Honeywell and they never replied back. The unit itself works really well, otherwise would have rated this lower (like 3 stars)

Easy to unpack. Instructions were straightforward. The window kit worked as described. I needed some foam weatherstripping to get a good seal between the window frame and the window kit but that was not an issue. Cools very well.

It keeps a large area cool enough to be comfortable. I had hoped to get a 2 hose system, but they are hard to find. This one has been keeping the upstairs cool as needed.

I bought this so I would not have to pay someone to install a window unit. What a mistake!

Nice looking, not very loud, but will not even cool my 170sq. living room. I ran it for 7 hours. It was about 86 outside, and would only cool my closed off living room to 83. The bottom drain is at floor level, so you can't get anything under it to drain it. The top drain I added a hose to and put a bucket under as there is no where else to drain it to. There is no hole for a hose in the window piece, and I doubt if it would drain uphill as it sits below the window. Not worth the money. I'd like my money refunded.

I purchased this to cool my insulated garage. The garage is 20x20 with 8' ceiling, and this unit barely cools it. I understand this unit is mostly designed for a bedroom or living room not a garage but I expected better cooling. If you are expecting this unit to be ultra quiet, forget it! This thing is lound, and doesnt blow air around much. It also draws significantly more electric then what is advertised, with my cheap electric meter I was reading upwards of 1500 watts! I noticed that the cooler outside being provided the lower the wattage, meaning during early morning 1100 watts and during hot afternoon 1500+. I've read from other manufacture that they have to dump water often, but with this unit I've never had to empty any water out! Overall the price to performance with this unit has left me satisfied 4/5.

I've only been using the portable air conditioner for about a month but it has been wonderful. It provides a "softer" cool temperature than the window unit I previously used. I do have to set the temperature about two degrees below where I want it but it is no problem. I have not needed to drain any water at all, even during the few days of 90* heat Vermont was experiencing.

Whytner had the best reviews and Best Buy offered the best pricing. The 11,000 btu proved to be more than adequate as we were contemplating 12k originally

I'm not sure what happened from the time the a/c unit left the warehouse and by the time I received it but it the box looked like it had went through some things. The box had oil stains on it and the straps were extremely loose. When I took everything out of the box all of the pieces felt a bit greasy. I inspected everything and besides being greasy nothing was broken or rattling, everything looked okay. After reading the instructions I turned on the unit and nothing but warm air blew out. I read reviews where it took about 30-45 mins for it to cool a room down so I let the unit run for about an hour and nothing but warm air came out of it. I'm not sure if something happened during shipping or if I received a defective unit but it did not work. I returned it for a Honeywell unit and that one works like a dream!

This air conditioner worked great for the area we needed to cool.

I am pleased with my purchase. It cools my apartment down right away. It is very quiet. Looks very well made. Easy to set up except for the hose connectors. Once they are on they were hard to remove. The little buttons do not depress enough to twist the hose connector off. I also like the fan only feature. I wanted the dual hose feature and the remote control feature.. The price was great!

I received a used AC so i returned it. The parts were scratched up and had stains.

Covers a large living room an can be moved closer to the kids bedrooms at night. The follow me feature on the remote is a plus.

My loft doesn't have windows that can support a traditional window AC unit so this was a great solution to help keep cool this summer. It does a great job.

Much noisier than my other portable ACs, which are also NewAir brand. Manual is confusing because it talks about emptying the tank while it is in cooling mode, but the box and the Best Buy description say it is self evaporative. I almost returned it without using it, as I do not want to have to empty a bucket, but I set it up anyway. Have never needed to empty the tank, even when it has run for several days at a time. If using as a dehumidifier would clearly have to empty the tank, but I do not need it for that purpose.

Bought as a daily deal. Unit works great but the pictures are deceiving. you have to have an exhaust port out a window. There's no way you can just set it up next to your couch in the living room or next to a closed window. Hindered my placement options but made it work. (they include the exhaust tube and window mounting accessories which makes life alot easier then trying to Macgyver something to fill the gaps)

Other factor is the directional louvers slowly fall down after extended amount of time (1-2 hours) so i just had to tape them up not to big of a deal.

This is a good unit for the price. A little noisy though

I got this unit thinking about the fact that I could actually move it around the house. Although I knew it wasn't gonna be as easy as it said in the description, I never thought it was going to be such a pain. The coil kept popping out of the window or the back of the unit every time I moved it. The front vent would no stay open so I had to use tape to keep it from closing every 5 seconds. The room never really got as cold as I wanted it to be so I ended up returning the unit. It might work for someone else, but it definitely didn't work for me.

THE EXHAUST HOSE IS NOT LONG ENOUGH AND I MISSED THE RETURN WINDOW FOR BEST BUY. I TRIED CALLING NEWAIR BUT NO ONE PICKS UP. LEFT MESSAGE FOR SOMEONE TO CALL ME BUT NO ONE CALLS BACK. DO NOT LIKE BEST BUYS RETURN POLICY IT'S TOO LITTLE TIME TO RETURN ESPECIALLY SINCE IT TAKES TIME FOR THEM TO DELIVER PRODUCT.

This portable ac unit does the job... it's not very quite but keeps room cool.

Wish I could have gotten another one. Is great for a small house that you can't use a window unit in as uses only 110 watts and it moves around so if you want to make one room COLD, you can.

I took a chance on this unit when I ordered it online since it was a newer model and no reviews. It did its job during the hot summer days.

This portable a/c cools down our home really good. I can even set this up, and can move it around by myself.

It’s a pretty decent AC for a small room about 150 sq Ft. I don’t use it very often because my room is about 300 sq ft and it doesn’t cool very well. It’s also loud and sounds like water fall out of it. I’d rather use fans than this.

This unit was purchased and shipped to a tropical country ( Belize Central America). Was purchased based on reviews I read and for the room size I needed it for. I comes with a trim kit the was perfect for our sliding bedroom window. We ran it about 1 1/2 hrs prior to going to bed and it cooled a 14 by 16 bedroom down significantly ( from 90 degrees to 70). It runs quietly and is movable as it has 4 wheels and a long enough flexible hose. FYI it needs to be emptied/ drained after about 2 use ( it collects water from the humidity)

I don't like it much. Its portable and needs to let out steam and a hose for water. So it takes up a lot of space.

Had high hopes for this but not to be. Used in a 250 square foot camper and was correctly vented yet the unit produced more heat than cooling effect. The hose (which was only extended about 2 feet) kicked off alot of heat and the reverse pressure the unit created with the vaccium effect sucked the outside hot air in through every crack and crevice. If you go portable make sure you get a double hose unit to get air from outside instead of inside the room. Best Buy was excellent about the return though. Always great service.

I was very disappointed in this portable air conditioner. It didn’t blow any cool air at all. I ran it every night for a week in a small (120 sq ft) bedroom and it never once cooled the room. I’m returning it to Best Buy this week.

It could definitely cool up faster for the price and size but i also feel lied to considering it says 10000 btu but the box says 8000

This outdoor swamp cooler works better than I expected it would with the high humidity levels here i South Louisiana. The oscillating and speed options work great to spread the air around a group of people while still giving you the ability to have it blow in one spot. Having this makes enjoying the sunny, 100 degree days bearable and enjoyable.

This Honeywell Cooler is one of the best items that i have ever purchased.We live in a Arizona.My power bill has gone down from 130.00 a month to 85.00 a month. It has kept our home temp at 81,82 degrees. We are in the month of July, and i have not yet turned on air conditioner. I would highly recommend this product.

Right after the product arrived, our monsoon season started so the humidity increased a bunch and the cooler really didn't cool like I had hoped. We have had a couple drier days, but it is still struggling with over 100 degree days outside the garage. It does help.

The product worked, and some of the other reviews warned it didn't meet their cooling needs. I agree, was going to use it for a small apartment living room - the unit was fairly noisy but our biggest issue was it just didn't cool the room down enough.

We had the cooler for about a week for our Arizona patio. In that short period of time the pump quit which means hot air not cool air. Returned it!!

I purchased this item less than a month ago. Condensation appears on the top where you turn it on and off. Also on the front and sides of the air conditioner. When I first plugged it up water and the air conditioner was running about an hour, water filled an overflow pan frequently and I was unaware it was filling up. It has warped the floor and rug.

I love the easy compact and space saver. But it could get a little colder severing room.

The unit its self has seemed ok only bought 2 days ago. The window kit and bracket are built worse then the older models very cheaply. Nothing secures the hose to the bracket other then 3 plastic tabs if you barley move the hose falls right off.

The window bracket on a double high vynl window left me swearing, my new windows have a lip so bracket can no sit flush, had to figure out how to get it to sit on a surface 4 sizes smaller the the bracket also leaves a good ammount of air space in between the extention piece.

For what it cost I really expected more or at least everything to be solid and put together better. # 1 window vent is a mess between its constant popping out of the unit or the lack of length marking it not very easy to place in a optimal positions. But worst has to be the water reservoir and impossible not to get water everywhere which considering it constantly needed emptying resulted in my nice cherry floors popping up from moisture n worse it even plain leaks in the bottom area n had I not had to move it completely every Tim it needs to be drained I’d never known

AVOID AT ALL COST! I am an HVAC installer, I work constructio for 25 years, and I am training to become a state inspector. Trust me when I say to avoid this brand and unit.

The unit was purchased new in bestbuy, it blows hot air (the hose blows out cooler air than the actual unit). Unit has a damaged coil with burn marks and the coil fins chard and damaged. The hose is as cheap as they come and only 4ft long and not long enough for the unit to sit on the floor and the hose to reach normal window height (normally they are 6ft.) Honeywell does not even include sealing foam for the window like all other portable Ac units come with.

I will avoid ALL future honeywell products from now on. Absolute trash!

It’s an alright product but I would buy it again,

Sometimes it calls for the water to be drained and there’s like 3oz,for the price at least the remote shouldn’t light up but it doesn’t, there’s some damages to the product that I didn’t noticed until I cleaned the filters, and some reasons at random times water starts to pour out of it like if the unit was sweating

Air conditioner arrived defective, short-cycling immediately. Furthermore, the kit it comes with is not as comprehensive as you would hope. No included pan for moisture collection which isn't a huge deal as any container can really do but would be nice to have. The included hose also doesn't stretch past 47 inches which means if your window is even slightly higher than average or behind a ledge it will be a pain or impossible to get the hose to reach and you will be buying from a third-party to make it reach which further delays how long you wait for your AC to be of use.

If the product arrived in working condition this would be a 3-star rating. Spending ~$450 on a less-than-perfect product without the necessary items for use isn't what I had in mind upon purchasing.

TL;DR: Product was broken and too expensive for a less-than-ideal installation kit anyway. Returning to spend money on another brand.

Unit must be vented. The pieces that were supplied to vent for casement window did not fit well.

Must have a place to exhaust the hot air. Did not know that prior to purchasing. Not truly portable.

the exhaust tube would not stay connected to the window shield or the AC unit. I had to use packaging tape to keep tube connected. Horrible purchase.

The air conditioning unit is so easy to use, move anywhere you want, also has a good quality. It makes my living room cooler than I was expected. Good product to buy and it worth it.

Lots of issues, customer service also won’t respond to me. I’ve been sending emails every day for a week. Condensation in the unit where it shouldn’t be and the unit smells like a burning hair dryer. It’s really inexcusable the poor customer service I’ve received and I expect this product to be exchanged or refunded.

this was way to difficult to install. First of all, I have a window that slides left to right vs up and down so I had to install the exhaust tube vertical, and the extender they provide has nothing to keep it in place, it just slides down. I had to hot glue and use gorilla tape, which is unacceptable at this price point. Secondly, it was very difficult to get the tubes to go into the connector rings. 3rd, it came with a random screw and lug nut that wasn't even listed in the instructions. I still don't know what it was suppose to be used for. Forth, the expandable tube is not long enough for the unit to sit on the floor and reach the window, and I have a standard height window. I ended up having to place the unit on top of an empty tote. For this price they should have included a longer hose. Fifth, The instructions were very generic and very unhelpful. In conclusion, I haven't even got the thing turned on yet and I'm ready to return it. I've purchased other portable AC's in the past and none of them were this difficult to set up.

This 14K BTU unit replaced a 7 year old 10K BTU unit. My old unit cooled ten times better than this thing. I have a hard time believing it's a 14K BTU.

Cools really fast, but probably because my apartment is less than 500sqft. It could be loud if you max out the cooling, but aren't all of portable ACs? That's why I got something for a bigger room size so I don't have to max out the cooling so it stays quiet, and so far it's been great. It was easy to install, everything I needed is in the box. Also, it was delivered to my door which I appreciate so much coz I live on the 3rd floor with no elevator.

I bought this AC. It finally arrived after a week and I went to put the vent piece in the window, which was about 8 inches too short. I have 2 other portable AC's and have never had this problem. I contacted the manufacturer, and had an extra piece to extend the length about a week later. We used this AC for 2 days, it worked great..day 3 at bed time my husband went to get our dogs bed and there was a puddle all over the floor. The AC was on cool mode not dry mode, so no need for draining. But, it wasn't even leaking from the plugged drain spout, it was coming out of the bottom. Needless to say I was not impressed. Definitely will not purchase this brand ever again. However, best buy was super easy with the return.

Sadly, I had to return this unit because it simply did not work. When we contacted the actual manufacturer, they were not surprised. Too bad for me because I still need one that works

I wish I'd read the reviews before purchasing this product. It was great at cooling our room, but it leaked constantly, even though we drained it often. No other air conditioner I've ever owned has leaked like this one. Water leaked through the floor to the room below. I see from other reviews that this is a frequent problem, seems like a major design flaw to me.

this A/C seems to work great. It is cooling a 600 sq. ft. area.

The only problem I see it that it also is a dehumidifier. When using it if you want A/C, ,make sure it is set for A/C and not dehumidifier.

This is an amazing ac for those who are having issues with water coming out the bottom you have to read the i instructions the hose can’t be crimped and cannot be 6inches of the wall give the ac at least 2 feet on all sides make sure the hose is stretched and place and make sure it is level I had a few of the issues listed but I read the instructions and the thing is amazing I have not had to drain it in over 2 weeks it’s self evaporates

Leaks constantly. Unable to cool 800 square feet for more than 2 hours without needing to be drained. Unit will shut off when tank is full but leaking still occurs before the unit shuts off. Save your money.
