    Very nice

I bought this as a birthday gift for my 12 year old granddaughter. She absolutely loves it. It took her about 10 minutes to get the hang of it before she was riding up and down the hallway of our house. The color is perfect for her, the battery life is great! Would definitely recommend!

    Two out of three failed.

Within a weeks time we purchased three and returned all of the boards three weeks later for reasons I will explain below.

After a week (board #1 showed up on a Monday) of having our households very first hoverboard... the kids (all four of them) had so much fun that my wife and I decided to buy a second one to help balance out the shared experience.

To keep the story going, I want to let the readers of this review know that we spent a few weeks looking over manufacturer's websites, product reviews and doing our due deligence of spec'ing out various boards before we chose to go with the Hover-1 product. The weight allowance of the boards we went with is 264lbs, which neither of us come close to this threshold. We chose to go with the highest threshold of weight allowance for two reasons... one is experienced based that a higher weight threshold should mean sturdier design or higher quality materials (or both) which could hopefully lead into better life expectancy for the board and second is if we 'adults' wanted to try one out, we could.

Just after we purchased the second board, a deal of the day had the same model on sale for two-hundred, which is why we had three boards in our house within such a short period of time.

During the time between the purchase of our other boards and the waiting period of about a week for them to arrive at our house... our first board began to experience loss of bluetooth connection (no more speaker use) and the lights stopped working as well. The board would still charge and operate mechanically. The kids didn't seem mind the loss of lights and sound, but I definitely did.

The second board we recieved came out of the box with the lights and sound never working at all. It did have a very noticeable rattling sound when you picked the unit up and tilted it and mechanically it functioned just as well as the first one. Just a side note: There wasn't any shipping damage on the boxes containing any of these boards.

The third board, which was the deal of the day board, worked as it should right out of the box. We didn't give it much use before we returned it. I just didn't trust the build quality of these boards after seeing the first two fail the way they did.

We did try to reach out to Hover-1 in a email because there isn't a phone number associated to the customer service department. We never recieved any response which just added to our decision of returning the boards. I also closely inspected the Hover-1 warranty and noticed to my dismay that the warranty has stages to it and none of these stages go past 90 days. So, if you experience problem with the boards past this 90 days you would pretty much be out of luck, unless you purchased an secondary warranty from the retailer. We still haven't had any feedback from Hover-1 and it's been almost 30 days out of the 90 they offer, if you catch what I am trying to say. It's not like they could know we returned the boards. Could you imagine, if we had purchased the extended warranties (which has to be purchased in 7 or 14 days, [I just know it's less than 30 days] of the initial product purchase) we would've been out that additional expense as well. Best Buy doesn't carry over extended warranties or refund them as they are use it or lose it.

I hope that by sharing my home's experience, all you future BB Elite+'s make a more informed choice.

    Awesome Colors!

We love the colors of this Hoverboard! It's really a nice looking board. It also has the ability to go pick up good speed, which our kids love. It feels like a quality board. We paired the bluetooth music up to it and the sound is pretty good for being a protected speaker. The music makes it even more fun for the kids to "dance" around on it.

    Fun Ride!

My elementary aged son has been primarily using the Hoverboard and he loves it! He picked up how to use it in record time! He thinks it's fun that it plays music (it's bluetooth paired to my phone) and scoots all over the place. The sound for the music element is decent; could be more clear but my guess is due to the need to be durable some of that quality is compromised--works for the purpose intended though. It's water resistant so we don't have to worry about it being outside during moderate weather. It is physically heavy so when he's changing locations we do move it for him. The app is nice because I can control the level (for us we like it on beginner!) and can customize the lights to for something fun for our son! Because the device can be dangerous if not used properly, it isn't something we will be letting the neighborhood kids just try but it's fun for our own personal use.

    Constant Fun and Entertainment

When pulling the Hover 1 from the box we first noticed how solid and well-built it was. It came charged for immediate use, along with easy to follow instructions for proper care.

The sleek black /grey color combination and chrome wheels made it feel sporty and edgy. Before riding the Hover 1 we downloaded the app which was very easy to learn and navigate. The led graphics and blue tooth speakers are entertaining and eye catching, a definite must for all hover boards.

Riding for the first time we noticed how much more smooth and quiet it was compared to other hover boards. The alerts for low battery and fully charged battery make for safe and simple operation for all ages.

The overall experience with Hover 1 has been constant fun and entertainment. If there was one drawback it would be that battery drains quickly with all the Hover 1 options being utilized at once.

Thanks to our friends that recommended the Hover 1.

    Solid product

The HYPE Hover-1 is a very solid, high performing hover board. It is ready to go right out of the box and the Hover-1 app gives you additional information such as speed and allows you to toggle among the three skill modes: Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert. It took me about 15 minutes to figure out how to fully balance on the scooter before I moved up from Beginner to Intermediate and still haven't made it to Advanced - there really is no need for me to go there. But my 11-year old was on Advanced in no time, spinning circles in the drive way and leaning back and forth like a pro. The weight of the board makes it feel like a sturdy product and we haven't had any issues with battery life. The LED lights glow very bright at night and are a nice added feature. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking to purchase a hover board.

Very high quality but serious/heavy unit.

Purchased this for an 8 year old who really wanted a hoverboard. I picked this model because it seemed like a very solid, high-quality choice with a long range, good top speed and amazing weight capacity. I figured we'd have it for the long haul and the whole family, including me, would be able to ride it.

It hit the mark on all of the above, except it may actually be too big and heavy to be ideal for a smaller kid. I think he'd have an easier time if he had a smaller, lighter model. Even as an adult, I can tell this thing is no joke - it has serious power and you need to ride with confidence or it can get a bit scary. (Hint - always step off backwards!!! If you step off the front, it can take off on you and land you on your backside, trust me.)

One issue I've had is with the bluetooth connection and app.

The range is pretty short, so if I'm following along on a bike or something, playing music, it cuts out if I'm not very close to the hoverboard (but range should be adequate if the rider is carrying the connected device). Also, sometimes the app seems to have issues controlling the device - I've had some trouble controlling the lights or changing the rider mode. The issue could be with my phone - it's been dropped a few times and the bluetooth isn't the most reliable, so I'm reserving judgement on that issue.

Fun once you get the hang of it

I got this one because it is designed to hold heavier riders, like me. I spent two weeks on Beginner then moved up to Intermediate. I'm staying there for now. The board is more sensitive to movements on that level, so I'm less stable in that mode.

The only reason I'm giving it 4 of 5 stars is that the battery life seems to be a bit shorter (and therefore less distance) than advertised. I don't use the lights or bluetooth speakers much, so that shouldn't be a factor. I'm still about 50lb less than the max payload, so I'm not sure exactly where they got their numbers from. I get about 1 mile or so before the battery is just about dead.

The app is fun. I like the ability to change the headlight colors (or have them off). The board will turn on "brake" lights weather or not you have the lights set on. I actually like that. I wish there wouldn't be super loud "bing" every time I make even a slight change to the color. I can't see how to turn that "bing" off or just turn it down.

That loud "bing" also plays when you turn it on, again, too loudly. Not major, but a bit of an annoyance.

The ride is pretty smooth, but I feel every crack in the sidewalk for sure. The overall build quality seems good and sturdy. I don't feel like I'd break this even if I was over the max payload by a few pounds.

For the price, this is the best value I've seen.

    Super Fun!

I am an employee of Best Buy and had the opportunity to use the new Hover-1 Raptor Buggy. This product is a fantastic way to add excitement to any hoverboard. The Raptor Buggy is designed to work with all hoverboards so no matter what brand hoverboard you own this is a great fit. Once you have the buggy assembled it is very easy to attach to any hoverboard. As soon as I had the assembly complete and brought it outside I was immediately the popular person on my block. All the neighbors (young and old) were lining up to give it a try. There is a little bit of a learning curve but even the younger kids who rode it had it down after a couple times up and down the sidewalk. Getting them off the buggy was the hardest thing. The shock springs, adjustable feet rests and bucket seat provide the rider a safe feeling and comfortable ride. The jets on the back that throw smoke (evaporated water) along with the sound effects and lights are also a huge hit. It did take me a few rides to get it dialed in so keep that in mind for your first time using it that it takes a few minutes to get a feel for it but once you get it, it is so much fun. This is a great product and will put a smile on anyone’s face who uses it.

    Pretty cool but needs improvement

This is so cool if you're riding over a smooth surface. If there are bumps on the surface, the front part comes off and the rider ends up on their rear on the ground. However, it is easy to put back together.

Good fun, durable, but can damage the parts

It's a worthwhile attachment for sure. It's faster than I thought it would be and heavier, but that is fine. It's a sturdy set up. My kids love it.

The reason for the 4 stars is that the brackets that secure the buggy to the hoverboard scratch up the hoverboard itself, and pretty significantly. I have tightened the straps as securely as they will go, but it doesn't matter. An extra set of straps is provided, which is great as they can get a bit beat up from hitting against any uneven ground.

The sounds and fog blaster are fun, but you need an extension cord to charge it as it is not easy to come off of the buggy once attached and the cord that comes with it is quite short.

In all, I would get it again though as it turned the board into something that my kid has decided to use a lot more often now.

    Looks cool at night

I can’t believe how cool this thing was. It had the fog machine on the back with LED blue lights and my daughter loves riding it. It works with almost any hover board and was a good deal. You just have to charge the smoke unit separately from the hover board and add water to it. The Velcro straps that hold onto the hover board do break but it comes with a couple extras.

    Tons of Fun

This has been a fun attachment for my grandson's hoverboard. He really enjoys driving it around on the neighborhood street with the fog and siren turned on!

He was able to destroy the Fog Blaster when he drove it backwards into the street curbing. This was not a design fault but rather an operator error!!!

We have had the unit for almost a year and it is still operating minus the Fog and Siren.

A fun way to get around

I’ve always enjoyed fun ways to get around. When I was younger, I used to skateboard and use roller blades and as I’ve gotten older, I have really liked electric scooters and bicycles. In fact, the only personal mobility vehicle I haven’t really gotten into has been the hoverboard. Hoverboards became popular a few years ago and were ‘the’ thing to get for Christmas. Unfortunately, there were some faulty ones out there that ended up overheating and subsequently catching fire. I believe the manufacturers learned from their mistakes though because since that time, there have been far fewer reports of malfunctioning hoverboards. My daughter got one a couple of years ago when we traveled to Florida and she loves it. She will ride around the halls of our house with it instead of walking from room to room. Because of that experience, we decided to get this Hover 1 Astro hoverboard as an upgrade.

The hoverboard comes in a large box and let’s face it -- this thing is heavy. Even though it’s ‘portable’, it still weighs almost 19 pounds. That’s an improvement over my daughter’s original hoverboard, which was 24 pounds. The vehicle has 6.5 inch wheels which are slightly smaller than our other board, which has 8-inch wheels. I haven’t found that this hinders the movement of the board, too much though. It still provides a smooth ride no matter what surface you are riding on.

The one thing that is important to remember with this or any hoverboard is patience. It takes time and effort to balance and learn how to move properly on the board to get the most out of your experience. I recommend starting by riding the board down a hallway so that you can position yourself correctly on the board and be able to hold yourself in place at the same time using the walls around you.

This hoverboard can connect to an app, which is a nice addition to the experience. It allows you to customize your experience and do things like change colors on the board, track your speed, and battery life. One really cool feature of this particular board is its built-in Bluetooth speaker. You have the option to connect your phone to the speaker in the hoverboard and then listen to music through the board while you ride. Some people may not like this feature, but I thought it was pretty cool.

The biggest draw to me with this new hoverboard is its lighting effects. My daughter’s hoverboard had lights on the back of it, while this one has lights on the board where you stand as well as around the base. If you were riding it at night, there is no way that someone wouldn’t see you coming down the street.

While there are always risks to using a personal vehicle like this, this hoverboard has brought a lot of fun to our family and as long as you are cautious and careful about where you ride and your surroundings, it can be a really excellent option for entertainment.

    Fun Way to Scoot!

Adults forget about your kids, this is for you! I’ve had a blast getting around my neighborhood and sidewalks nearby. I’ll be honest and say I haven’t made it to more populated areas in the city yet but I will.

Funny story, I went to get the mail on my Astro Board and a person about my age asked if she could try it! This is definitely adult worthy and worth every second of fun.

The LED lights are just as vibrant in real life as in the pictures on the box. The added Bluetooth speaker is super quirky and fun. I refuse to ride around blaring my music but let’s just say I might when no one is watching!

Word of caution! Make sure you practice in a safe area because my first day on it I nearly collided into a curb. So I’d suggest a helmet.

The self-balancing feature is crazy and I’m still astonished that technology has come this far. I consider this to be our decade’s version of the rollerblade or roller skate!

Side note, I thought the speed was to slow before I tried it but now I actually think it’s just perfect. The application let’s you choose a profile from beginner to advance so you should definitely pay attention to those.

I’m not a kid but I can say I’m the cool one on the block! :)

    Awesome hoverboard

This is a really cool looking hoverboard/scooter. This is my first one so it definitely takes some time getting used to.

To start off, I've never owned one of these before so this is all new to me. It is a bit scary trying to use one of these for the first time. I'd highly recommend doing so on grass or at a park or something. You WILL fall down so just be prepared for that. This scooter has a 7MPH top speed which is quite speedy; especially for the first time user.

The scooter seems pretty well built. It's very solid and just feels beefy. The lights on this scooter really pop. It's definitely an eye catcher while using this scooter. There is a companion app for this scooter where you can adjust the colors/lights so that's a neat little feature.

This is a really cool little mode of transport. For new timers, this will definitely take some time getting used to. Once you do, it can be really fun.

Feature rich and fun to ride

No broken hips yet… This hoverboard is a great rideable that (almost) my whole family has enjoyed so far. It has a lot of features and is a lot of fun to ride and to watch people ride...and almost fall.

So far the Astro seems pretty durable. It is heavy, which to me, means it is well built. I did crack the plastic on the front of it when I leaned too far forward and my sock slipped off and it hit my foot. I know, you’re supposed to wear shoes when you ride it but I like to live dangerously… Other than that it is holding up well.

This is my first hoverboard and I have been impressed. The ride is smooth and well balanced. I felt pretty wobbly at first, but I picked it up quick enough. My kids pretty much hopped right on and went full speed, not that I was surprised. We have mainly used it inside, I know I need to get more confident with it before I venture outside.

The Astro has a ton of LED lights on it. They are all over it! On the footpads, on the ends, even inside the wheels. It is very bright! The lights flash in patterns, I believe you can even sync them to your music. Yes, your music. Like many bluetooth devices (even some light bulbs and shower heads) the Astro has bluetooth speakers built in. Now these speakers are not going to blow you away with the sound quality nor shake the house with bass but it is a cool feature to have. The Astro does connect to the Hover-1 app as well. I haven’t used the app too much. For me I am more interested in the ride than the extras but I believe you can choose the colors and patterns of the LED lights and such with it.

Overall it is a blast for me and my kids. My wife is the lone hold-out in the family. Some days it runs almost entirely until the battery is dead. I probably would have been fine with one that wasn’t so feature rich but it’s nice to have the extras.

One downside, a full charge takes 5 hours, instructions say not to let it stay on the charger for more than 5 hours. I assume this is to prevent fires but seems like it could have a circuit to stop charging when it reaches full charge. Could be easy to forget to unplug it after 5 hours of charging.

    This thing is amazing

Okay..First thing first, you have to charge it. The initial charge only took about four hours. After the four hours of charging, it was ready to go. I downloaded the app while it was charging and was able to set it up on my phone. It was three user levels, from Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert.

After it was charged, my daughter was on it...After less than three minutes of me assisting her, she was zipping around the house. Now she uses it to pick up her toys and stuff around the house. It's hours of fun. She charges it at night and plays on it most of the day. It does great on carpet to hard floors, and area rugs. Overall I'm super impressed. The lighting is very bright. The music level is fairly loud and makes the experience that much better.

    Zoom, Zoom, Cool

I had a early "hover" board a few years back; and I can tell you this it totally different. As soon as you take this out of the box it oozes quality, a first class build. As soon as you turn on there is a real WOW factor. As soon as you put some weight on it, is exhibits it's power. The clear wheels are so neat, yet they still have real gripping power, probably made from solid silicon, their led lighting is almost magical.

Now one of most appreciated features is the app that interfaces with the Hover-1, once connected via BT it provides 2 BT connections, one to stream music to it's BT speakers, the other for monitoring/control of the Hover-1. The Hover-1 has 3 user modes, Beginner, Intermediate and Expert. Until you get a few houre of "hang time" under your belt, stick to beginner, it limits the top speed and the max acceleration rate. Event on beginner this board can take off on you. Shifting your your weight forward on the right side cause the right side wheel to move forward; same for the left, balance both right and left you move straight, more weight to right you turn to the left, more weight to the left you turn to the left. the wide foot pads require you to properly place your feet, but after about 3-5 minutes of practice you'll get the hang of it (or give up - unlikely). There is definitely a learners curve. (similar to learning to flying a drone - except with the Hover-1 board you have a real personal interest in not crashing). The manual suggests always using it with a helmet, and anywhere you don't have a perfectly smooth surface, I'd agree. And if you use it indoors, pick-up any obstacles (Legos or such) before using it. My initial experience was small obstacles cause an immediate imbalance, throwing you off course quickly - Gravity+Momentum wins all the time.

The BT speakers on the board are pretty awesome, with 10W power they fill a small room with loud music. Back to the app, it also has a system status display which shows all of the sensors the Hover-1 monitors, nice to know, a great safety feature, The total number of apparent leds on this board is impressive, coupling the flash to the music feature is truly mesmerizing, and the app has multiple modes to interface with the music, it can also respond to your voice. The app can also tell you how fast you moving and track your movements via the phones GPS. And with a claimed battery life of 4 hours, at 7mph you could find yourself in another neighborhood. But watch out for rocks/pebbles, any obstacle over about 1/4" will disrupt your ride! I found it took about 8h to fully recharge the battery, but after a couple hours it was back to 75%, so like most phones today, it seems to charge the first increment much faster then the last increment.

Overall the the controls seem really precise and it was easily to start to learn and control. I can't wait to take this indoor basketball court to really open it up and learn more tricks (I'll have to get another to race). At first I was concerned about using it indoors, but with some practice, its really a cool people mover, that moves with precision (when under control).

I kept thinking of cool places to ride this, where I'm sure it would be prohibited (like the zoo or aquarium). The instructions say it's for kids 15 and up, I'd say any 8-10 yr old, with supervision could master this device, and would love to have one. And what a cool present it would make - highly recommended for a lot of fun.

Strudy build, stable control, phone app works great

Grandpa spoils grandchildren. First off wear a helmet for safety. Out of the box it took 2 hours until full charge when at full charge the wall plug charger lit green. Downloaded the play store app to Samsung S20+ and to Samsung S10+ bluetooth and speaker paired quickly no problems. Grandkids love the LED set to strobe with app. I like being able to read battery condition with phone app and being able to set shutdown time with app. In house grandkids took control and manoeuvred foot controls forward, backward and around corners effortlessly like pros. Their still working with music from speaker but all in all the phone app does work despite what others say take your time and be patient. Outside in driveway the kids mastered full speed with no problem. Don't recommend full speed in house though.

    Thumbs up!

This thing is nice! Lots of lights everywhere, sound is ok! We use it inside the house 99% of the time. It feels solid and secure, after a month of playing around with it, 1-2 hours of total usage time, I can say it’s fun! I personally only use it for 5-10min at the most every other day, mainly because I usually end up on the floor and I’m sore the next day, it takes practice! My 11yo daughter is a pro! She’s over it after 5min on it and I haven’t seen her fall, fingers crossed! The app works ok, able to control lights and sound, you can see speed and total mileage. The battery last a long time, we haven’t had to charge it, enjoy and be safe!

    Great price.

I got this hoverboard for my son. It works great. The lights are really nice and the Bluetooth works great. The battery life lasts for a good amount of time, maybe 2+ hours. It’s battery life is longer than my other sons hoverboard which is the “Flying Ant” brand off of amazon.

The only complaint I have is how easily the paint scratches. By the end of the first day of use the hoverboard looked a year old.

I’m happy with this brand, I did a lot of comparing brands first and this is one of the best.

    Bought for 16 year old

When I was reading reviews, I was trying to find a hoverboard that would be ideal for a teen. Most people buy them for younger kids so trying to filter through and a find teen/adult worthy ride was so much homework! This board is highly rated, my daughter loves it. It’s not her first hoverboard. Her first one, a different brand, only lasted a few months. She loves this, my son-in-law is learning to ride and I have peace of mind knowing it’s covered by GeekSquad. Haven’t connected to the sound system yet. She’s very pleased though. Her first board would flip and roll. She has control with this one.

Wonderful Hoverboard for kids and adults !

I bought this for my friends kid as a birthday gift. He liked it alot. It is a wonderful hover board, the music volume is also good. Its not much loud but good enough to play and hear music. It has a good Speed and weight capability, even i am, who has a weight of more than 180lb, can drive it easily. It has a good battery capacity and can drive it for almost 2 hrs after full charge. I would recommend it for a friend who is interested to buy a hoverboard for their kid.

Both of my boys, (now 8 and 13), have had these for almost 2 years, and they are still going strong. The built-in blue tooth speakers and lights make it a really cool experience while riding in the driveway at night. I have even ridden it myself! I only wish we had these when I was a kid. Worth every penny!

    Love it!

I bought the hover board for my daughter. It was on sale and she wanted the black color but they were out of stock so I ended up buying the blue one. Then my husband was able to get the black color that she wanted the next day which was still on sale. I was going to return the blue one, but my 10-year old son kept using his sisters' and he said he really wanted one, so I gave him the blue one. I really didn't think he would use it, but he absolutely loves it and uses it all the time. He loves using the bluetooth too! It's really cool how it lights up.

    Good for the price

I bought 2 of these (on sale for $129 each) for my boys. So far (after 1 week) they love it. it took them few hours to get used to it but now they are very comfortable riding it. Streaming music on it through Bluetooth from the phone is a nice feature. It says, it can handle up to 220lbs, but I'm 170lbs, and although it can slowly ride me on the horizontal surface, it struggles if there even a slight ascent. So I would say it is for kids up to 12-year old, then they can ride it fast and have fun.

I can't say about longevity because it's been only a little bit over 1 week, but I heard they don't last long. But I guess my kids will move to other interests before it breaks.

    Son loves it

Purchased this as a Christmas gift for our 14 year old son, who is 6-foot and 160 (and keeps on growing). We wanted something that was sturdy and would last, so we shopped around until we landed on this one. On sale for $220 or so, we decided to give it a try. The kid LOVES it and uses it constantly, even the corny Bluetooth speakers that blast his horrible taste in music. That said, my husband and I both ride around on it whenever he’s not around, mostly to avoid the teen-rage. It’s so dang fun and sturdy — it holds me easily, but also my 6’4” husband who is somewhere around 240lbs. No complaints yet and an exclamation from The Teenager that this is the best gift he’s ever gotten (high praise from that dingdong).

    Sleek Black

This Hoverboard has larger wheels and goes a little slower than some other Hoverboards but is still a fun ride. It has headlights that change colors but is a sleek black. It states it's for a 15+ from an age perspective but our much younger children enjoy using it. We haven't used the app yet but think that would be a cool addition for the kids but not necessary to be able to ride.

    Regretting this one

First thing is the big wheels, size isn’t everything and these wheel prove it, couldn’t climb over uneven cement. Even though the wheels are huge the 1/2 -1” climb was too much. Next is the power, if you have 10” wheels you need big motors! My Jetson v8 has bigger motors with only 8.5” wheels and can climb anything under 3”. So in short torque matters. Then there’s the safety features, like the beep at high speeds. If your unable to tell your going really fast you don’t need a hover board... or a license for that fact. No customization at all on this thing. Speakers aren’t very good. The Lights are pointless. The body is covered with plastic and guess how that works with a hard surface. Please go buy something with power, metal build, and solid dependable features. This board is not worth anything but playing on carpet. Pictures show how the board handled very simple and common issues every boarder will experience. We used it three time and returning it. This is the best hover-1 has and I won’t buy this brand again.

    This Is A TITAN! WOW!

This is a Titan. WOW. I’ve been wanting this beast for a long time. It is rather intimidating because it stands so much taller than the average hoverboard. It took a little bit to get used to. My kids had no problem. The big difference, besides its mass, is how it glides over bumps, cracks, un-level pavement with ease. I can’t feel them because the air-filled tires absorb bumps, and makes for a smooth ride. It can go thru grass, too. It doesn’t feel any heavier than the typical hoverboards which makes it easy to transport. We took it to a party and everyone loved it, even the adults. It has a decent speaker which makes riding more fun while listening to music. It’s sleek and not flashy because it doesn’t need to be. It’s just awesome!

    We enjoy them

We bought two of these and our kids love riding on them in the garage. They’ve put many hours on them already. The kids are great about plugging them back in after each use. So we haven’t had issues with batteries. It’s easy to connect music to also. Since it’s winter, we haven’t been able to test them outside yet but we bought them because they’re bigger and heavier and we live in the country and hope to use them on the gravel driveway and in the grass. If I remember correctly, they hold up to 250lbs. So my husband and I have learned to ride them too and our friends have also had fun on them. They’re spendier than some smaller ones we’ve seen but we mainly bought them for function and durability.

    Big tires! Great ride.

This thing is a beast. I've tried a few hoverboards before and this one is significantly bigger than any others I've tried. The speaker actually sounds pretty good. I was listening to some music as I rode around the neighborhood. I actually do prefer the smaller 8" wheels a little more because I can feel it better closer to the ground and I like that it's more sensitive, but my friends that tried the Titan preferred these bigger 10" wheels and felt it was easier to balance and wasn't as touchy. FUN! FUN!! FUN!!!

I love this Hover-1 board! I cannot tell you how much fun it is to glide around with the music playing!!! Out of the box, the build is quality and feels very sold. Nice rubber wheels add to the smooth silent roll. I weigh about 170lbs and it has no trouble moving me around easily. Smooth and powerful!

I looked through the owners manual and it had an easy QR code to take you to the app. I downloaded the app and then I was ready to try it out. On a side note: BE SURE TO READ the owner’s manual. If you have never used a Hover board the learning curve can be a little tricky at first. There is a certain way you need to get on and get off the board. Hover-1 also provided some great tips on moving the board by “leaning” and not trying to drive with your ankles. This was my first board and I leaned up on a wall as I steadied my self on the board. After a few minutes I was able to move about shakily at first (due to my skill level). I tried to move my ankles forward and backwards to control the Hover-1 board which made it a little jerky at first. After I got to know the Hoverboard and leaned in the direction of movement i wanted, I got it locked down…I stopped trying to over steer and just trusted the board and it clicked for me. The Hover-1 is super responsive and steady which makes trusting it easy. After about an hour I felt like a pro. Hover-1 has three settings “beginner”, “Intermediate” and “expert”. Ironically, early on , I switched to the “expert” level and did much better with it. I also found out another key principal is not to panic when going to fast or if you accidently made a sharp turn….just stay calm and “lean”. But like bicycles and skateboards….you should invest in a good Helmut!!!

Once I got the movement locked down, riding the Hover-1 is Zen like. I think “forward” and glide almost like I’m floating forward. It reminds me of ice skating on a fresh sheet of ice….smooth. This Hover-1 board is so responsive, silent and smooth. The silence part is nice because it has a Bluetooth speaker in it that you can listen to your music while you glide around!! Tunes and fast smooth movement! The speaker quality is great as well. You can also listen to podcasts or any other streaming stuff you want!! Super cool! The lighting is also a nice touch as well. The app is great too. It keeps track of how fast and far you go and most importantly the battery life. Awesome tech on an awesome product! If I lived in a big city I could see using the Hover-1 for transportation (note it says 6 miles max).

I am buying another one for the wife and we are going to use it at the parks to do nature rides!

Blissful, relaxing, fun, entertainment!!! Great for kids, teens and anyone else brave enough to lean into some real fun!

    Highly recommend!

    Fun Excuse to Get Outside

I’m in my mid 20’s and I’ve been having an absolute blast riding this hoverboard around! With the warmer weather we had this past weekend in Minnesota, I was able to take it outside and zoom around my apartment complex and to the gas station about a half mile away to grab some food essentials. Here are the things I like about this device so far:

    - Reasonably priced and often on sale.

    - It’s powerful, quiet, and extremely responsive to inputs.

    - It’s colorful with flashing deck lights and multicolored (rainbow) wheels.

    - 7mph feels like you’re absolutely flying on a hoverboard. It’s a rush as you lean forward and glide effortlessly across the pavement.

    - The built in bluetooth speaker is surprisingly good and connects quickly to my phone every time I turn it on. I like that I’m able to listen to my music and also remain aware of my surroundings.

    - The IPX-4 resistance rating makes me feel good knowing that if I run into a puddle or two while riding, I won’t completely destroy the thing...not that I’d ever be brave enough to ride it in anything but perfect weather conditions.

    - This is a toy I absolutely want to share with my brothers when I see them over the holidays. Looking forward to seeing how long it takes them to get the hang of it :P

    - App connected, but this isn’t really a big plus for me (see below).

    - Definitely turns heads.

And here are the things I’d don’t like so much:

    - Hoverboards in general have a pretty steep learning curve. I like to think I’m a fairly coordinated person, but it did take me a good 5-10 minutes to really get comfortable being on this thing without support from a wall or chair. I recommend learning to ride indoors. Make sure you take the time you need to be really comfortable before taking it outside because falling off and hitting pavement at any speed can be extremely painful. I speak from experience.

    - Advertised range is up to 6 miles, but by my estimates while riding, they’re closer to 3-5 miles depending on rider weight and riding conditions. Younger kids MIGHT be able to go a full 6 miles.

    - Charges slowly.

    - As mentioned above, the app isn’t a big plus for me. In fact, I really hate it. Each time you open the app, you have to select the hoverboard you’re using. It won’t remember for the next time the app is opened, at least if you skip creating an account (haven’t tried creating one and don’t plan to). Not sure if it’s a Hover-1 brand issue or just the Superfly, but the app only worked the first time I used it. I downloaded it, connected it, it worked great. When I turned the hoverboard off and then back on to try and connect to the app again, nothing happened. It says it’s connected, but it isn’t. I’ve tried everything I can to get this to work with no luck. It’s great that the app has the ability to show your speed, show your battery life remaining, and change lighting effects and ride modes, but it’s absolutely useless if it doesn’t connect to the hoverboard. This app connectivity issue does NOT hinder the use of the bluetooth speaker.

    - Without a functioning app, I’m unable to change lighting effects or turn the flashing lights off. Kind of a bummer, but I’m glad it’s stuck on blue.

All in all, I do really like this hoverboard and plan to have friends and family play with it when I’m able to see them again (thanks COVID). I realize I kind of nit picked this device, but for what I use this for, the biggest negative is the app. The hoverboard still works great as an independent device without app connectivity and that’s why it gets a 4 star review from me. Would still recommend this as a fun toy to play around with outside, especially since it’s very reasonably priced.

    Great product and experience

We've had the Hover1 Superfly for a little over a month now and everything has gone great so far.

First, Best Buy made the purchase and pickup process simple and efficient..

Once I got the board home, I followed the instructions for charging the board the first time, easily paired the device with my phone, and my 12 year old son had a blast riding it on and off for a couple of hours... We tested the lights, played music through it and bonded with one another while he beamed with pride at his new ride

We had an issue with the red light coming on right off the bat so by following the simple directions a couple of times to calibrate the board the light went off and stayed off so he could play. He knew how to ride it right away from using other peoples boards but we had quite a laugh when I tested it out and he had to hold my hand the entire time hahaha...I decides to get back off as it wasn't my "cup of tea" but it felt like with a little practice, a beginner could easily learn to ride this thing.

    Fun and a Great Value

My family has had hours of fun riding this hover scooter around the house and neighborhood. While writing this review I am looking forward to my next ride.

    Pros

    - Easy to ride and maneuver. I was surprised how quick it was to get the hang of riding it. My wife and I both were cruising around the house in just a few minutes. My 12-year-old also picked it up pretty easily after turning down the sensitivity using the app.

    - LED lights look cool. Lots of compliments riding it around the neighborhood.

    - Built in Bluetooth speaker

    - App lets you adjust the sensitivity and also displays distance travelled and speed.

    - Decent power and battery life. I am right at the stated weight limit (220lbs) and it has no issue carting me around. I took it out for a few miles around the neighborhood and was still around 30% battery.

    Things to Consider

    - This is only meant to be used on hard, mostly smooth and flat surfaces. Using it inside on my laminate floors worked great and the rubber wheels didn't leave any marks. I also took it out in my neighborhood which has smooth paved roads that gently slope to the sides and at corners for drainage. The street was way more of a challenge and required a little practice due to imperfections in the road and changing slope. The instructions are clear that it should not be used near cars so a large patio, long drive way or a quiet cul-de-sac are ideal.

    - Speed and battery life vary with weight and surface (to be expected). At 220lbs I was limited to a speed of around 4.5mph and a range of 2-3 miles on streets with gentle slopes for drainage (still impressive - I got tired before it did).

    - The fully charged indicator doesn't always match the battery level in the app - I took it off the charger as soon as the LED showed full and the app indicated 90%. The instructions are also very specific not to over charge the battery, so I would set a reminder to check it and unplug it when it is done.

    - I had a few minor issues with the app: 1 - It asked me which device I had every time I started it - even though I setup an account and the scooter was already linked to it. 2 - I could not change the LED colors even though it is an option in the app.

I think this hover scooter is a great value and would definitely recommend it.

    Fun For All Ages

    Key Features

    Bluetooth Audio

    Feature Rich Hover-1 App

    Riding Easily Learned

    USE

I installed the Hover-1 app on my Android smartphone. While not an issue-free experience, it gets the job done. The app is very comprehensive and feature rich. It has functions like an odometer, battery level monitor, speedometer, lighting configuration, volume, and most importantly for me, an experience level that tailors the board to the users’ abilities. I have posted poorly photographed pictures of the lighting. It was fairly dark out when I took them and the hover board was lit up like Christmas. The colors are bright and vibrant. The blue lights on the front are customizable in color, but the lights on the wheels themselves are fixed (at least best I can tell, I didn’t see an option in the app). There is a single Bluetooth enabled speaker on the underside of the hover board, controlled by the app on your phone. Streaming music played without issue and the speaker, while definitely not high fidelity, played loud and even while being bounced off the ground still sounded fair.

This is my first attempt at trying a hover board. The neighborhood kids all have them, and I thought they would be fun to try, but with my luck and lack of coordination, I figured I never stood a chance at being able to use one. I still, to this day, haven’t even come close to mastering the skateboard. If I can get about 20 feet on a skateboard, I consider it a victory. Yes, that uncoordinated. My kid, though, can just look at this stuff and it’s like it is second nature. Hmmmm. Doesn’t seem fair. Having no luck at learning how to skateboard, I prepped for the worst. I grabbed my best motorcycle helmet and decided to give it a try. On-lookers readied their cell phones to record the inevitable wipe-outs and I had bandages at the standby, I gave it a go.

I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised at just how easy this thing is to ride. The beginner setting makes it tame enough to reduce the intimidation factor, while still getting a vast majority of the board’s abilities. While I am in no way a pro or even yet a rookie, I am quite proud to say that no bandages or cell phone videos were used or taken!!! Quite an accomplishment, at least for me, anyway. The board’s speed is easily modulated, and it responds to the slightest inputs for speed and directional changes. After about 30 minutes of riding, even a total amateur like myself was really getting the hang of it, thanks in part to the riding recommendations in the owner’s manual.

The board is rated at a maximum weight limit of 220 pounds and can travel up to 6 miles with a top speed of 7 mph. Not bad. The 4 A.H. lithium-ion battery reaches a full charge in about 5 hours if drained all the way down. Total riding time varies, but I have ridden it for over 30 minutes with only a partial charge on the battery. I have no complaints about the range or speed and find the specs quite good.

The tires are hard rubber and cracks and expansion joints in concrete can upset the rider’s balance on the board (at least it does mine). Also, watch out for rocks while riding, as one managed to completely stop one of my tires while I was going about 3 mph.

    CONCLUSIONS

In the end, these hover boards are all about one thing: fun. Having tried one now for the first time, I can honestly say I’ve had a blast riding it. While, I still have a lot of practice still to go, I have had a great time every time I’ve gotten on board. Even more important, my wife and boy both have a great time on it too. We have to take turns because each of us likes giving it a go. However, there is no comparison in abilities, as my boy can go like it’s second nature after only a few minutes of practice. In the end, I have no real complaints about the product itself. It’s proving fun and entertaining for all age groups. Well worth the money.

    Time to ride!

I am an employee of Best Buy and I have been enjoying the Hover-1 Superfly hoverboard / self-balancing scooter all summer and fall. I should say my kids and I have been enjoying it. I have never actually ridden a hoverboard before using the Superfly and it was much easier and more fun than I expected so I thought I would share what I liked and what could be better from the point of view of a parent and a child:

    Things that are cool:

    - Speaker: I think the built-in Bluetooth speaker is a great feature; I paired the hoverboard with my phone and when I hung out with my kids and watched them ride on the driveway I played my favorite music (often to their dismay) and their favorites too; they definitely stayed on the board longer when they had music playing

    - Ease of use

o Kids: like so many things, my kids got on the Superfly and were comfortable in seconds and they had never used one before

o Adults: while it was minutes (and not seconds) for me, I was surprised how quickly I became comfortable on the board – I assumed it would have taken a lot longer to get used to it

o Definitely review the manual before using it – it shows the safest ways to get on and off the board

    - App functionality: I downloaded the app and wasn’t sure what I would use it for – but one awesome feature is the “mode” where you can select: beginner, intermediate, advanced as your kids (or you personally) get used to the board

    - Socially distanced playdates – several times, we had another friend over and went to the park – each kid with a hoverboard and they rode around the park, keeping socially distanced while catching up, unlike bike riding, it’s easier to talk to another hoverboarder while riding

    - Construction: the hoverboard is heavier / more substantial than I expected and rides really smoothly and quietly – the only downside is that it may be hard for smaller kids to carry it

    - Other features: I like that it has alerts for low battery and if you are on too steep of an angle

    Things that could be better:

    - App functionality:

o In the app there are a ton of different light color and options for the board. They are actually really cool – we just didn’t use them that much. We played around with them to first few times but ended up leaving them on the favorite color of the kids – I think a lot of families will enjoy this feature however

o Also, every time you get in the app, you have to “select your ride” – not too big of deal, I just wish the app knew what product you had “on” to skip this step

Overall, we really enjoyed the Hover-1 Superfly and it is definitely on our holiday wish list!

Make sure to wear safety gear when you and your kids are riding! Enjoy!

Super fun and full of features

My neighborhood is full of hoverboards but none are as cool as this SuperFly! Not only is this the coolest on the block, it has lights on the wheels, lights on top and a booming speaker for streaming music to.

    Pros:

    • A lot of features for the price

    • Steep but short learning curve and becomes 2nd nature

    • Cool wheel lights

    • Great sounding speaker

    • Super fast

    Cons:

    • Can’t leave it charging. (more on this below)

    • App is lackluster

    • Can’t change LED colors.

First and foremost, this will bring an ear-to-ear grin on your face. It’s fun but it’s also tricky to master so make sure to learn in a controlled environment before venturing onto the streets. With that out of the way, the SuperFly is a lot of bang for the buck. It’s easiest the coolest looking board out there with the lights and speaker.

It doesn’t need the phone app to work but it does need it if you want to change sensitive settings, see your speed, battery % etc. The app is garbage. This may change with app updates but it rarely connects right. The app even shows options to change colors on the SuperFly’s lights but this board doesn’t allow color changes. How hard is it to grey out settings that doesn’t apply to this board?

Another worrisome concern is the way it charges. The manual says to charge till the plug stays solidly green. Which can take up to 6 hours. But shortly after fully charged, you must unplug it from the wall. I’m not sure if it’s just legal speak but its concerning not knowing if it will over charge if left plugged in overnight. Who has time to keep an eye on it while its charging?

Besides the dumpy app and potential charging headaches, this board is fun and will surly put a smile on anyone using one. I can see myself getting the “go cart” buggy kit to convert the SuperFly into a sit down go cart.

    Quality built, fun to ride

This is a very nicely built hoverboard! It has about 1" thick steel core going between 2 halves that allows it to support riders up to 220lbs. Nice sturdy wheels (airless) and rubber covered foot pads allowing for a good stable grip during a ride. Charging port (proprietary 5 pin) located at the bottom and it's covered with a rubber plug to prevent contamination. Power button (on the bottom of the board as well, but it's easy to locate - just see where the logo it) is metal.

Battery charge time is about 5 hours and should not exceed 6 hours according to the manual. Power adapter has a greed LED that would slowly pulse when charging is in progress and glow steady when charging is complete. I left mine charging overnight no problem.

This hoverboard does have a built-in speaker, it faces the ground and music quality is not super great, but it does allow you to listen to the music while riding without headphones so you could still maintain awareness of your surroundings. This model does not heave RGB lights - it just glows blue up front and kinda like rainbow on the wheels.

Ride quality - it was very easy to get on and start riding around the house (hardwood floors) - my teenager got it in about 10 minutes, took me a few hours personally to get comfortable. Getting off the hoverboard may be a little tricky for unexperienced riders. As soon as you take it outdoors - it's a whole new level :) Best ride surface is a smooth dry concrete or asphalt with no obstacles like acorns or seams, special attention is needed if surface is not smooth and obstacle free.

Warning - you will likely fall. Maybe not the 1st day, not even 2nd, but you will fall eventually. Be ready, wear protective gear and though clothing.

Phone app - while this hoverboard is Bluetooth enabled - phone app is a little finicky. It does take a while to find your hoverboard and connect and all you can do there is to observe charge level and your speed. There is a mode switch - Expert/Intermediate/Beginner but that did not really do anything in my opinion.

Overall - try to answer 2 questions before you buy:

    1) Do you have smooth obstacle free surface to ride on? With no large seams and contaminants like acorns.

    2) Are you sure your kids will not get bored after week 1?

If you answer Yes to both of the questions above - by all means go get this hoverboard - it's a lot of fun!

    Worth to wait

We wait for 2 weeks to get this hoverboard, the first came with a broken wheel side plastic because of the transit I think, and I chat with Bestbuy, I get a replacement .A week later the replacement came, this one is in perfect condition. Hoverboard need charge 4 hours to make it fully charged according to the instructions , so just do what the book said, it is not so good to make the battery overcharged , With the sound and light effects this hoverboard is more fun to ride.My littles really enjoyed when ride it. We have a very thick carpet , this hoverboard works on it totally fine. I am happy with it.

    So Much Fun!

We saw our friends’ 2 year old playing with this hoverboard so well and decided to get one for our kids. We are happy with this purchase. The battery lasts a long time and we love the Bluetooth function so we can play some music. The self balancing feature is great. It’s very sturdy and you can see it’s well made. My 5 year old picked it up by the second day! Now he is the best in the family. Lol

    Great gift

I made a 10-year-old gift for my child. I bought it very well. He chose this color by himself. This one also has lights. It's very good to play outside at night. At first, he was not very proficient. After playing for more than ten minutes, he was very proficient, which was smoother than what we adults played. The children watched him play and had a great time.

    Fun ride

My son was so excited to get a hoverboard for his birthday this year. He has been riding it on a daily basis for a few weeks now. He loves it. This hoverboard self-balancing feature works great for when getting on and off of the board. The navigation was very steady and easy. My son was able to maneuver inside the house even in some tight corner. It’s a lightweight product comparing with other brand and older model. The battery life last close around 8 miles as what the spec. stated. There is a built in speak and the bass is very decent. The LED flashing pattern looks so cool around the board and also sound responsive on the ground LED. The Swagtron App is very user friendly and connected with Bluetooth easily. The overall riding experience is very smooth and it’s easy to maneuver the hoverboard. It is a well built product. We are very pleased with this purchase.

The hover board bag fits my son’s hover board perfectly. Pretty nice to have, instead of carrying a hover board in your hands. This bag really comes in handy.

    Great sound quality

athe sound quality is great! the only downside is that it gets out of calibration almost every time we use it and we have to re calibrate it often!

    Custom fit but thin

It's a little on the thin side so durability is of high concern, but only time will tell.

    Papa

Fits a little snug so my grandson has to struggle a little with it. It also gets the job done for storing their hoverboards wherever they go and when not in use.

    Hoverboard cases.

Purchased 3 for 3 hoverboards. Some reviews made it sound like they barely fit. One slightly bigger board was a snug fit. Other 3 boards fit fine.

Does a great job of protecting our hoverboard

Some reviews I read said this case would barely fit their hoverboard however I purchased a Hover1 Superfly and it had plenty of room. Seems pretty sturdy but we havent done a lot of carrying. I would definitely recommend

Seems like a good product with a bad chargerdesign

My only disappointment with this purchase is how badly thought out the charger is. The cord is barely as long as the hoverboard and strain relief on the end that plugs into the hoverboard is non-existent. It looks adequate until put into practical use. We broke our supplied charger on the second charge just being plugged into the hoverboard and the wall. We have resorted to charging the hoverboard on the kitchen counter away from any foot traffic after getting the charger replaced.

By comparison the charger on my older sons Razor brander hoverboard has a much longer cord and a more robust end that plugs in to the hoverboard it self.

As the summary says, it seems like a solid hoverboard with a crappy charger. I would look into getting a spare charger is if you buy this.

    Smooth but néeds more power

Got this for my daughter and she likes it. The hoverboard is quiet and very smooth. It runs nice indoors. But when trying it outside it had a hard time to move on the street with a slight incline. It needs more power for the outdoors.

Batteries were sulfated bad! Otherwise great.

These run off two lead acid 12V 2.8AHr batteries in series for 24V.

After a full charge they only held up for about 10 minutes. I disassembled the scooter and charged them with a pro reconditioned. Even then they only ran 20 minutes. Basically, VRLA lead acid batteries have a shelf life. If left on the shelf without a maintenance charge for more than 6 months they begin to sulfate and lose their charge capability.

These boards aren’t a new product. They’ve certainly been on the shelves at least that long.

So if your board doesn’t last long, then take it back pronto and try again. Rinse wash repeat.

I replaced our Batteries with two new Powersonic PS-1227 batteries. They fit barely. And now the board lasts for most of the day.

While I was at it I removed that awful beeping sound by desoldering the resistor to the speaker.

All of this voids the warranty. But this is a toy and a warranty is kind of a joke. So I fixed it myself.

That aside it’s perfect for my 7 year old. Not too fast but still real sporty and stable. It’s his favorite toy ever. I’m glad I spent the extra $50 for new batteries. And my son thinks engineers are awesome and Santa should hire me. Lol. Priceless.

11 year old son loves it!

This is a fun toy for kids. Make sure they wear a helmet. The only down side is the battery only lasts around 45minutes - 1 hour when fully charged. I am hoping the battery recharge will last for at least 2 years. We have an electric scooter that only lasted a year and there's no way to replace the battery. If that happens to the hoverboard then it would be useless as you cannot self propel it like you can with a scooter.

    Great

Had to wait to review as it was a Christmas gift for my 8 yr old Grandson. He loves it. In fact he is on it constantly. He is standing on it and going back and forth on it even as he plays fortnite. His 6 yr old sister also loves it. I tried it myself and about killed myself. Guess my 60 yr old self cannot do it. I have noticed that he has to recharge it ALOT. Maybe uses it for an hour then it goes back on the charger. Other than that it rolls very smoothly and goes over blankets and that sort that are on the floor. Very happy with my purchase.

    Meeeh.....

Bought this for our youngest son as we were looking to save a bit of money since we already have the Pro T1 version for our older son. This T882 version is a major step down. Speed is nowhere near the noted 6.8 mph and the plastic housing is definitely a lower quality as well. Not as responsive either. Overall we were disappointed. Will just return and get another Pro T1. Probably a good choice for very young (under 7) kids so I’m sure there’s a market for it but for the extra money, the Pro T1 is a much better and longer term unit imo.

Not sure its worth the price...

Its heavy for the average person and kind of awkward to carry. My son really like it at first because of the bluetooth them we noticed that it did not hold a charge any longer than the cheaper balancing board. The large wheels are better for rough terrain but we are not as satisfied with the price vs ease of use and battery life we thought we would get. Folding doesn't really make it easier to transport as it is heavy.
