Top Best 15 LG Over-the-Range Microwave Options in December 2021

The microwave itself is awesome. Working great! However, (I'm not sure who's fault it is? LG transfer, Best Buy Warehouse, or delivery guys. The box it arrives in has no damage, so probably not the delivery guys). I received the 1st microwave with the Face mashed in (not smashed, just mashed). I returned it and reordered. The 2nd one arrive. The Back of that one was bent and mashed also. And it had a fairly large dent an upper side in the crease from the top to the side. Having no microwave for another 7 - 10 days was not an option, so... I was able to hide the dent (mostly) and able to reinforce the rear so it would hang on the mounting bracket without fear of it to come crashing down.

Fitted in space perfectly, love the fan speed options, programming menu temperatures

Perfect fit and gave the kitchen a nice upgraded look.

Measure the depth & height of your cabinets first. Only downside for us was it’s so deep that the fan can’t come all the way down because of the proximity to the elevated controls on the back of the stove

I hate giving a low rating but we have only had this microwave for about 3 weeks and the display is already not working. We have always bought Whirlpool appliances and we have never had any issues but we wanted to give LG a try because they had a stove the we wanted. The other down side is we have to wait to have this microwave repair and we had it less then 30 days. Best Buy won’t help they told be to call LG.

I like the sensor cooking/reheat option which I have used and it makes my food hot. The fans is great; however, I don't know if i'll ever use the high setting. It really blows a lot of air. Lights good, energy saver option to turn off the clock is great as I already have a clock on the oven below the microwave so I don't need 2. Easy clean interior is great too. I personally don't care about the dark door not being able to see in. I've always opened the door to stir or whatever anyway. I probably won't use the rack but it's nice to have just in case. The installers had to do some light carpentry to get it installed, but that's my cabinets being the issue not the microwave

In terms of performance, very good. The ``cheat sheet'' for settings on the frame are helpful and useful. I miss the express settings -- hitting `1' or `2' for instance for a 1- or 2-minute heating cycle -- on our old GE.

One MAJOR concern already, just two weeks into use, is that the numbers on the touchpad are already rubbing off and disappearing. (See photos: the ``2'' is half gone and it's supposed to say ``4 Speed'' under the word Vent.)

Microwave works great and the extendable exhaust in the front works awesome. Prior LG Microwave exhaust didn't capture a lot of the steam coming off the stove and this unit works really well.

The most idiotic redesign ever. The window in the revised version of this model, LMH2235ST, has been blacked out in the lower half of the door. It is impossible to see the food you're cooking! What the heck were they thinking??

Recently had the opportunity to replace my 20 year old microwave, has it been THAT long already, and wanted to stay wit the LG brand as we've had great performance from other household appliances. This model does not disappoint. Installation was a breeze, though it is a tad heaver than previous appliance.

Once installed, the difference is immediate. Food is heated in a much shorter time period, the unit itself is very quiet and loaded with features, including the slide out exhaust fan, nice when all burners are going on the range top.

All in all, 10/10 on this unit

Last up is a replacement gas range, and the upgrades will be complete with a complete LG kitchen and laundry throughout the home.

This microwave is so Sleek in design along with the push out vent that extends it over the range more then normal vent and sucks everything up.

Had to replace an older version of this and we love it. Definitely not a completely quiet vent fan but still quieter thank others out there

We replaced a Kenmore elite model that was about 5 years old, it still ran but sounded like a train going through the house. We wanted something quite with comparable features. The LG was not the highest rated on Consumer Reports, but it more than exceeded our expectations. It is very quite and easy to operate. We installed our selves, but I would recommend having Best Buy install as it is very heavy and takes two or more to install and get right.

Excellent microwave. It was fairly easy to install but I'm also a mechanic so this type of stuff is pretty easy for me. You definitely will need an extra hand when you are ready to get it hung.

I like the ease of use, the power, the functions and the light. I do not care for the interior of the microwave. It is not practical to clean if you have children or anyone who doesn't properly cover items being cooked. It has tiny little holes on the top and sides of the interior for splatters to get inside. I have no idea how you would clean it if stuff ever got inside all those holes without disassembling your unit. My teenager is not allowed to use it without me seeing that what's cooking is properly covered. I would have never purchased this unit had I seen the interior but I bought it online instead of going to store. Great product if you can properly cover food to cook.

it was very difficult to put this microwave over the stove, big headache! but once we figured it out, we were happy. it works great. heats up nice.

We purchased the LG otr Microwave as a part of a 4 appliance upgrade for our lakehouse. We went from all white appliances to stainless steel and the kitchen looks brand new. The microwave performs well and seems very accurate in its readings. It performs as good as we hoped!

I bought the same brand and product number years ago in white and the microwave was still working after 12 years. When I upgraded to stainless I stayed with what I knew worked!

Let’s start at the beginning. (September) As with some of the other reviews I found this installation to be extremely difficult as the paper template was extremely poor. Drill holes were off, and making sure to focus my attention on the right lines and arrows as I prepared to attach the paper to the under side of my cabinet was a struggle.

Then (November), we used the microwave for two months and it stopped working. Just dead, no display, not lights, nothing. My power was fine, no tripped breakers and the outlet still provided power. I told myself that manufacturer defects happen and to just work through the warranty process. Well the warranty process was ridiculous as LG required the repair company to obtain parts from some international location that took weeks to get here.

Here we are beginning of May and the unit has again died in the same fashion. No display, no lights, NOTHING. I’ve placed a warranty ticket but I just want my money back. LG has a good thing with TVs but their kitchen appliances are for the birds!!

I am very satisfied with my new microwave it works perfect hopefully I will not be needing another in a very long time.

We were seeking an economical replacement for our 10-year-old, top-of-the-line GE Profile microwave that suddenly died: turn-table stopped rotating & it would no longer heat contents. Given that we didn't use all of the many functions in our previous microwave, we opted for a lower-end model without all the bells & whistles -- small mistake. We have since discovered how useful it is to have a "sensor" to determine when an item is heated, and the difference that truly "one-touch" power buttons make. Note: this model does NOT have a sensor that automatically stops heating when foods reach their desired temperature. (Reheating items is based on the item (dinner plate, muffin, etc.), which requires that YOU, the operator, have to estimate how long an item should heat. E.g., to reheat a dinner plate, you have to select "1-dinner plate," then push start -- not the same is simply selecting "reheat" regardless of what you're reheating. And, in our limited experience with it, the oven seems to over-heat items than would happen if it had a sensor.

This LG model seemed to meet our needs based on descriptions & reviews, and appeared to meet our anticipated usage requirements. Installation was not as simple as promised and, of course, installation holes didn't match those of our previous oven. Nevertheless, self-installation was manageable, if more time-consuming that expected.

Since we haven't had it very long, and were on vacation much of the time since acquiring it, I can't speak much to how well it functions or its long-term reliability. We do miss some features that were on our former GE Profile model (auto-night light, one-touch power settings, a couple of other "auto" buttons, and, of course, the sensor) and it seems to be noisier in operation. We've also noticed that the tinge of the the stainless steel is a tad "more orange" than our other appliances (except it does match our LG refrigerator). Otherwise, we expect it to do the job as intended - mainly reheat leftovers & warm-up beverages, while we wait to see if it is as reliable as our former one.

Paper template included had under cabinet template and wall mount template were on the same piece of paper. Should be two separate paper templates. One drill hole was off by 3/4 inch. because of poor documentation this install took four hours instead of usual one hour. Flimsy quality, very loud fan, the light is dull and not adjustable.

Roomy interior and heating food up. The only thing I dislike and it might be a pro for others is that when the cooking is completed, it will beep loudly every minute or so until you take it out. My old microwave only gave one reminder beep and then stays quiet.

The person who installed the microwave was very nice. He asked me if he could drill holes in the tile if that became necessary, and I said yes. He said he had a diamond drill bit.

Everything went well. He explained the operation, cleaning & filters to me. Great job!! I love it!

This microwave is virtually the same one as the one that decided to quit, a couple numbers newer. I really liked the one I had, plus it was built in and I wanted the same one to replace it. This one was exactly right, slid in perfectly.

I had an LG OTR microwave like this one in black that died after 10 years. In the interest of being able to use the same mount plate I bought this one.

The fan on this one is much quieter, but my big beef with this iteration is that the got ride of the timer setting, otherwise it’s quite nice.

The reheat sensor is a little too powerful or I haven’t gotten used to it, I usually stop it once it show seconds counting down. At that point the food is piping hot. Other than that it looks fantastic above the stove and the light isn’t too soft like others complain. You can always replace the range light with a brighter led one.

The fan works great so does the undermounted light. It popped the best bag of popcorn I have ever had and very easy to wipe clean. Replaced an old under the cabinet microwave that had really needed to go. The handle was falling off and the turntable would no longer function. Beyond that, it simply looked old and outdated. I read quite a few reviews before buying. There were concerns about this microwave being loud, but my old one was louder, so I don't have an issue at all there.

I installed this one, with 1 family member, and it looks great.

I am room venting rather than externally venting, and didn't have much of an issue with the installation. The holes in the top are not symmetrical. I accidentally flipped the template they provided, and ended up having to cut a couple extra holes in the cabinet, but nobody else is going to know/see that.

The new microwave fit in perfectly and works well so far. I've only had it installed for about a month, but all is good so far.

I didn't have any frills on the my old microwave, and I don't have any concerns with the functions of this one. I don't really do any 1 button cooking. I set the time and power level for nearly everything I put in the microwave.

The appearance is a drastic upgrade from my old black version with the venting on the top front of the unit. The venting for this one is on top and far enough out from the cabinets above that I don't anticipate any concerns there. I don't use the fan or light on the microwave very frequently, like some who have complained do, and I'm not worried about either.

I got the microwave when they were having pretty good holiday sales, and I've been very satisfied with the purchase so far.

About 8 months after we purchased this, we noticed little pieces of plastic falling off of the microwave, until the handle eventually fell off and then a big plastic piece at the top. Also, prior to all of this, there was on issue with microwave not starting. I would enter time the light would turn on and the clock would countdown, but the microwave itself didn't actually work. I would have to open and close the door several times before it would work. I don't use the microwave that often, so I am concerned that he would be falling apart this easily after suck little use. LG is having someone come out to repair and I am hoping that I just get a new microwave and we can chalk this one up to being some crazy fluke. <fingers crossed>

This microwave isn't anything spectacular. It does it's job, but I'm not "wowed" by any of the features or performance. The bottom control feature is great, but I'm left wondering why LG didn't take the opportunity to use the portion to the right of the door for anything more useful than a blank, useless area. To me, making the entire front of the microwave the door would have been more appealing because then, the thing would look magnificent - even if the cooking space inside were the same size as it is already. As it sits, there's this large blank space where the controls would normally be, for no reason other than saving cost - I suppose.

The microwave works as it should. It features handy preset buttons for items like "MAC & CHEESE", "HOT DOG", and "CHICKEN NUGGETS", but they don't get much use because they instill no real confidence as opposed to just selecting the amount of time you want the microwave to, well, microwave whatever you put in there. If anything, I'm less confident in those presets because, well, it's a mystery how LG thinks a hot dog should be cooked as compared to 45 seconds of 1,000W worth of microwaving.

Nonetheless, the machine works well. The popcorn button is the only button I use that puts the "sensor" to use, the rest is the traditional select how much time and hit "go" process as it's been for the past 20 years - not much to "write home" about.

Purchased this because of the key pad across the lower door and it provides more direct options. Options include turning off the rotating glass tray, helpful to allow an oversized dish. Sensor cooking is awesome. Easy clean interior is good, a little darker than a stainless interior, so lighting is not a good. Kinda hard to see the interior items. Easy to install and the recirculating fan is good. I don’t have a venting to exterior. The microwave is pretty quite and the has a fan sound when operating. Door positively latches. The clock is small and can be energy saver shut off when idle.

Evenly heated food for about 1 week and then heating became uneven; noising and rattles; the worse issue is the plastic clip that holds the inside metal shelf melted. Why would the unit be designed so that a critical piece on the inside melts?

I would have to open and close the door several times before it would work. I don't use the microwave that often, so I am concerned that he would be falling apart this easily after suck little use. LG is having someone come out to repair and I am hoping that I just get a new microwave and we can chalk this one up to being some crazy fluke. <fingers crossed>

This microwave isn't anything spectacular. It does it's job, but I'm not "wowed" by any of the features or performance. The bottom control feature is great, but I'm left wondering why LG didn't take the opportunity to use the portion to the right of the door for anything more useful than a blank, useless area. To me, making the entire front of the microwave the door would have been more appealing because then, the thing would look magnificent - even if the cooking space inside were the same size as it is already. As it sits, there's this large blank space where the controls would normally be, for no reason other than saving cost - I suppose.

The microwave works as it should. It features handy preset buttons for items like "MAC & CHEESE", "HOT DOG", and "CHICKEN NUGGETS", but they don't get much use because they instill no real confidence as opposed to just selecting the amount of time you want the microwave to, well, microwave whatever you put in there. If anything, I'm less confident in those presets because, well, it's a mystery how LG thinks a hot dog should be cooked as compared to 45 seconds of 1,000W worth of microwaving.

Nonetheless, the machine works well. The popcorn button is the only button I use that puts the "sensor" to use, the rest is the traditional select how much time and hit "go" process as it's been for the past 20 years - not much to "write home" about.

Purchased this because of the key pad across the lower door and it provides more direct options. Options include turning off the rotating glass tray, helpful to allow an oversized dish. Sensor cooking is awesome. Easy clean interior is good, a little darker than a stainless interior, so lighting is not a good. Kinda hard to see the interior items. Easy to install and the recirculating fan is good. I don’t have a venting to exterior. The microwave is pretty quite and the has a fan sound when operating. Door positively latches. The clock is small and can be energy saver shut off when idle.

Evenly heated food for about 1 week and then heating became uneven; noising and rattles; the worse issue is the plastic clip that holds the inside metal shelf melted. Why would the unit be designed so that a critical piece on the inside melts?

Installed easily, looks good and works great. The only thing that needs improvement is a brighter interior light.

Overall this microwave is great. I like the numbers and controls on the bottom, however, it leaves wasted space on the right side. It is large and fits square and round plates. The metal rack is useless.

Plastics break easily (shown in picture) and don't fit tight anymore. Control panel plastic latch does not hold panel in place, less that 1 year of use, just learned to leave with these

Some nice new features, I like being able to turn the display off. Also like the taller convection rack, works better. Micro is more powerful even though watts are the same. Chime is soothing, not annoying like older model. Also some nice one-touch preset modes (love the "soften" and "melt" options.) Intuitive to use, nice prompts on display. Wouldn't be without one in our RV.

What!! Microwave and convection oven!! What a great concept! Gone is the necessity for a double oven with this microwave/convection combo!! Works like a charm!

The microwave is larger then I thought and the turntable.that can be turn on or off depending on the size of your dish or cookware. Besides the quick settings you have three option when cooking or reheating, sensor, convection and standard microwave. I wanted a Microwave but go so much more!

I've had other brands of combination microwave / convection ovens before and have liked them much better. I primarily use it as a microwave. It doesn't do a lot of microwave things particularly well. Examples: (1) You cannot touch a number pad button (like "2") and get 2 minutes of microwave cooking. (2) The auto cook feature for commonly microwaved items doesn't have a guide (except in the instruction book). When you select that item, it only tells you to choose 1 - 6, but there's no indication what those selections are for (and no sticker in the unit with that information.) (3) There's no sensor re-heating for a beverage. (But there is a programmed item to melt marshmallows. Who needs that?) It is going to take A LOT of time with the user's manual to learn to use the appliance to reasonable proficiency. I expect to be able to do that without having to constantly look things up.

Kitchen remodel and research led me to LG Kitchen suite and I needed a microwave that could double as an oven, because in all the double oven stoves, the larger oven is always at the bottom and when you have problems bending and lifting, things like a turkey or such other heavy things out of an oven, it does not work well. I also needed it to be a hood fan. This met the criteria and while I haven't yet used the convection part, I think it will fit what my needs are.

Purchased this Convection Microwave so that I could use as an additional oven at home. Sadly, doesn't quite work as well as I would've hoped. Baking times when using convection oven if off and not consistent. Had I known and not already had it installed, I would've simply purchased the non Convection Oven version and wouldn't got it for significantly less. Oh well, lesson learned.

Great buy. Loved this microwave oven from the moment I saw it advertised. I received it a month ago and it shines great in my kitchen. I am afraid to convection cook for fear of getting it dirty. Ha!ha!

This microwave looks good, BB delivered and installed without big issues. Bought it because it matches my fridge. Microwave seems to work ok. They advertise it as 1650 watts. Not sure how this is measured because my 10yr old 1000w microwave performed on par. If you put a cup of water for 1 minute in this thing, water will get quite warm, but not too hot to drink. Convection mode is lacking. What happens when you put a sandwich at 425 degrees in an air frier for 5 minutes? You get a toasty sandwich. What happens when you put the same sandwich at the same temperature in this microwave on convection mode? Your cheese edges melt a bit, but the rest of the sandwich stays cold. Will I send the unit back because of this? No, the thing is installed and I need a microwave anyway primarily, which works ok so far, but disappointing on other levels. This thing is overpriced, lets hope built quality is good, although as you can see from a pic door/body is a bit out of alignment, but not terrible; it just fit in the spot between cabinets. The guys scratched cabinets a little bit when trying to fit this in, but it is barely noticeable.

I love the experience shopping with Best Buy however this microwave I give 4 stars there are too many steps to set the time on the clock my kenmore elite stopped working after 13 years and I brought this microwave because it had a stainless cavity and it was available immediately.

I have had this microwave for a couple of weeks now, without any issues. There is a learning curve on this microwave, other than basic microwaving of turning the dial and pressing start.

The instructions are clear, but I do find myself still referring to them for certain functions. This is because I do not use all the other functions this microwave is capable of on a daily bases.

There is one complaint; I wish there was a back lighting on the push pads. I fear the white lettering might wear off over time.

LOVE this new microwave although the learning curve was steep. I did not find the manual as helpful as a couple of YouTube tutorials. Then, I just played with the buttons and settings. I still need to master the convection settings, but have not needed those yet.
