    So far so good

I had to order this through steelseries because next but didn't have it in stock for a while. But headsets are very comfortable sounds is clear I use them on COD and can hear footsteps clearly. I also love that you can use the C cable to charge it and fast charge, I also like that it last about 30hrs. So far i havent charged it for 3 days i am trying to see how long it last before i charge it. I do recommend on comfort alone and overall sound.

    Comfortable, somewhat budget friendly headset

For the sake of the discount price (Black Friday deal for $43 after tax) I purchased this headset at I’m going to give it a 5 star rating.

    To begin with the Pros:

It is extremely comfortable, the headband makes it feel weightless, the ear cushion material is very breathable and light on the ears but still maintains a solid amount of noise cancellation.

The sound is very clear compared to other headsets around the same non-discounted price point.

Compatible with Series S/X, PC, and PS4/5

I personally like the design of it as well.

Lacks bass, would expect a little bit more for the price.

Plastic construction but still seems to be durable.

Mic quality isn’t the greatest (although I’ve seen other headsets from this brand for more $$ and mic quality was still lacking)

Ultimately, for the original price point, the headset does lack in some aspects but at the same time makes up for it with others. If purchased at original price I would’ve given it a 4 star.

    Good over all

Head set likes to disconnect and reconnect regardless of battery life. Which serious flabbergasts me cause it has a predominant 2.4 ghz dongle which should be better than blue tooth. I also had to buy new ear muff pads off amazon cause the stock ones arent thick enough, the hard plastic part of the head set rests on your ears.

The mouse is great, works excellent for all games when not in power saving mode. The power saving mode should not make the mouse take much much longer to reconnect after being put to sleep from inactivity, it also reduces the range the mouse can reach.

The keyboard is a non mechanical soft touch actually feels really fluid and smooth.

All in all would recommend the set for 200 any more and no.

    Works with hearing aids

I spent considerable time researching reasonably-priced headphones with a boom mike that would provide a bit of sound isolation and wouldn't require me to remove my behind-the-ear hearing aids. As a hearing aid wearer, my approach was to let the aids take care of compensating for my high-frequency hearing loss, which meant that they had to stay in. Otherwise, I'd have to get an equalizer and create a similar frequency amplification profile, which seemed needlessly complicated.

I first tried SteelSeries Arctis 1's, which were a disaster. Too much bass and too little space between the speakers and the hearing aids, which sang like canaries. The HyperX Cloud Alpha was much better - flat frequency response and enough room around the hearing aids that they didn't break into oscillation. I occasionally find it necessary to reduce the hearing aid volume one stop, but never more than that and I still hear the treble range very well. I can't comment on distortion because I'm sure that the hearing aids contribute far more than any headphones would. If you wear hearing aids and don't mind looking a bit like an air traffic controller, I recommend the HyperX Cloud Alpha headphones.

    Great headsetf for gamers!

I bought this Hyper-X wired gaming headset because it has a replaceable charging wire. The problem with these wires is they tangle very easily and eventually break. This is a great headset and when the wire does tangle a new replacement wire can be purchased very inexpensively. That is so much better than replacing the great headset at least twice per year.

    Hyper X headset

I personally really enjoy this headset, & I don’t regret buying them. It fits perfectly on my ears and are super comfortable! The only downside is that from time to time, the mic would cut out & others can’t hear me, I’m not exactly sure if I plugged them in wrong or not, but overall, then headset is amazing!

Awesome headset for Xbox Series X!

I researched ALOT of different brands of headsets for my new Xbox Series X, and this one seemed to be extremely well rated, with expert review sites indicating it was the best sounding headset for the when this was on sale, it was a no brainer to try this one out.

Fit and Feel - First thing i have to say, is that the materials and construction feel really great. The detachable mic and detachable audio cables are thick, braided and feel sturdy . The earcups are EXTREMELY comfortable. I have a slightly bigger (wider) head, and these did not produce "pressure" om my head. They felt great right away, and after 4 hours of wearing them, i couldn't even feel they were on my head...that is comfort! The padding is great and the headband construction is aluminum with additional cushioning and it feels great.

Sound - IMPORTANT! IMPORTANT! IMPORTANT! Some people indicated that the sound on these is very low, almost at a whisper level when you plug it into the xbox controller and were disappointed, even when they turned up the in-game volume in COD all the way up. The Xbox Series X has a SEPARATE headphone volume control menu that needs to be turned UP! (See my pictures in this review) This is DIFFERENT from the General Audio settings in the regular Settings Menu. When you are in a game or even on the xbox home screen, if you press the round Xbox Home button (that pops up the xbox home quick screen), at the very bottom right of the menu is a sound icon...if you go to that, the audio menu pops up for headphones. Xbox has this at 50% by default, and if you turn it up, BOOM! These headphones are LOUD, and then you can use the inline audio wheel to lower it or adjust to your desire, or use in-game sound menu controls after that. It is something that can EASILY be missed, and apparently has been, by all of the reviews i read about these being really quiet on Xbox and people returned them....when I first plugged these in, the sound was low and i was disheartened because i through the reviews were correct about these being quiet on the xbox, but then i found the separate headphone menu and WOW. I feel sorry for people that didn't realize the Xbox has a separate headphone sound menu because they missed out on fantastic headphones! The microphone sounds great also, because my buddies all said they could hear me loud and clear the entire time. Again, use the headphones menu to turn up the volume for the microphone as well if it seems low, and then use specific in-game menus for tweaks and you are all set!

The sound coming through these is fantastic on the Xbox Series X. I used these for COD Black Ops and you can hear bullets whizzing past your head, and footsteps of other players getting louder or fainter as they run near you, and you can hear the direction they are coming from! I enabled the Windows Sonic on the Xbox Series X for the headphones and it produces a really good surround sound. I will test this setting for about a month before i switch to the Dolby Atmos setting, since I want to make sure I let my ears and senses get used to the surround sound, and then i'll be able to compare if Atmos is that much better on these headphones or if Windows Sonic will suffice, since it's free and you have to pay for a one-time license for Dolby Atmos to activate it on Xbox.

I am EXTREMELY happy with these headphones, granted i've only used them for one day so far. But the sound, clarity and comfort are all top notch on these and they didn't break the bank. If you can get these on sale, you can't find a better bang for the buck!

A major problem for them to 100% work

First off, these headphones are really great. The sound is beyond excellent. However. I bought these for my Switch as it is advertised for it. When you plug them in directly, sound and mic work fine. But, if you use the extension that comes with it, the mic will not work. The reason is the extension only has 2 rings on it and 3 rings are needed for the mic to work. I will gladly change this to 5 stars if Best Buy or Hyperx will refund me 10 bucks for my Amazon bill and hassle. Ball is in your court. I would highly reccomend these if they could fix this problem.

3-4 stars. Not quite as good as the original

First off I owned the original cloud 2 for my PS4 and it was phenomenal with the sound card to amp it up and really push the drivers. Do to multiple dogs the cord was a huge inconvenience and was a major hinder so I upgraded to the cloud flight. Holy cow was that ever the right decision because it was like getting almost the sound quality of the cloud 2 but wireless and best all around for all audio. I always said if they ever made the cloud 2 wireless I wouldn't hesitate to grab them. Now that they're here and I have them they aren't the same. Sound quality is really good but somewhere they just aren't as loud which is a bummer which leaves them just lacking from the original. The bass gets a little muddy when watching movies and they just need a few more decibels for gaming. That would definitely make these the best competitive gaming headset for the money. The improvements on "7.1 surround sound" was most impressive and definitely a huge upgrade but the flight is definitely the better option for less money. Unfortunately I will probably return these unless I can find some software update I'm missing and heading back to the flight or flight S. The price should be lower on these as well, feels like the wired should be $80 and the wireless $100-$120 tops. To simple, no swivel, not loud enough and no replacement ear cushions for $150 is kinda over priced seeings how the market is so competitive at this price range with better bang for the buck. The wired version comes with a travel bag, sound card and replacement ear cushions for $80. Hyperx you need to take note and rethink riding the coat tails of the OG cloud 2. In closing a solid headset but look for them to go on sale

Best wireless gaming headset I've owned

I bought this headset after a failed Steelseries 9 purchase, and I don't regret it.

    - Works great and sounds great.

    - Doesn't need setup out of the box.

    - The surround feature is noticeable.

    - The battery life is great.

    - Feels sturdy and high quality.

    - Comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

    - Mic must be removed from the headset to get it out of the way. I can see this being a problem in the future if it is removed and re-inserted constantly.

    - No Bluetooth for extra connections to other devices.

    - Can't configure time length of auto turn of feature.

The things I have against this headset are basically extra features I would have liked, but the simplicity of this device speaks for itself.

    I would recommend it.

Surround Works - Great Mid tones

These are No.1 on many charts and I was skeptical. I didn't want some gimmicky gaming headset but these are pretty fabulous. They support 7.1 channel or Stereo. The surround sound works and the balance of audio levels is fantastic. Some surround headphones are buggy to but these work really excellent and the audio quality is fabulous. High quality 48k 16bit with excellent sound production 7.1 support for gaming and Stereo for music. I'm extremely happy with these after having several different pairs of headphones. They look good as well!

after a month of use, the comfort is unmatched. the audio quality and noise canceling are solid, battery life is good. Visual indicator on Mic Boom of when you are muted (via the headset, big deal for work from home scenario). connects via USB receiver, can use the HyperX app for more granular controls and firmware updates, but not required. overall very pleased with this after having the wired version for a few years.

The cord to power the device is very short (about 2 ft). So I purchased an extension. Sometimes there are glitches and it does not "take". For the most part I have not had any issues and am free to walk around while listening to the audio. The headset is very comfortable. Sound is clear.

    Surprisingly (!!!) outstanding multi-role headset

I can't say as I've ever been a big Razer fanboy when it came to their headsets. I have tried and passed on various wired/wireless iterations of the Kraken, Nari, and Blackshark for a variety of comfort, sound, and sometimes even software support issues. BUT, the Barracuda X came out of nowhere to totally blow my expectations out of the water and turn in some remarkably fine gaming AND multimedia performance for both the PC and Switch, all while overcoming some of the comfort issues that dogged a few of their previous outings. And all of this was on tap without needing Razer's sometimes bloated and resource-heavy Synapse client! Frankly, I was skeptical that the Barracuda X would be a keeper after a recent disappointment with the Blackshark V2 X, but Razer appears to have put its best foot forward with this headset and the results were simply outstanding. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED if you're hunting in the crowded $100 headset market for something comfortable, versatile, and sporting a powerful, engaging, but definitely not bloated, sound signature.

Starting with style, build quality and comfort, Razer has eschewed their normal, over-the-top gamer aesthetic and loud RGB bling for something that looks more like a middle-of-the-road consumer headset with styling cues very similar to the Sony WH-1000XM4. In fact, if it weren't for the subtle Razer logos etched in the earcups, you'd be hard-pressed to identify the Barracuda X as a Razer gaming headset at all--definitely a plus if you want these to fit into a workplace or other subdued public setting. The mostly plastic construction keeps the weight down (just 250 grams), yet the construction feels solid with nary a creak to be heard. The underside of the headband is generously padded with a very long strip of faux leather that runs virtually the entire length of the headband assembly. Thankfully, the headband itself features a fairly natural curvature that dramatically reduces topside hotspots (at least for someone with a reasonably adult-sized head) by spreading the points of contact along a much wider section of your skull. The internal headband support is metal but still slightly flexible--this allows the headband to retain its primary shape yet still respond to gentle pressure so you can personalize fit and curvature even further--there's even a quick passage in the manual about making these slight adjustments to the headband to improve longevity.

The earpads feature pillow-soft memory foam under a breathable mesh covering. While this does decrease passive noise isolation a bit, it makes them VERY comfortable against the skin, and keeps your ears from overheating during longer gaming sessions. Although billed as over-the-ear cans, the earpad openings on the Barracuda X are actually pretty small, falling somewhere between the wider stadium-shaped openings of the Arctis 7/Wireless Pro and the narrower ovals of the Audeze Mobius. In practice, this meant that a good deal of the earpads were pressing in on the lobes/outer anatomy of my ear. However, the soft earpad material, coupled with the design/construction of the headband, meant that on-ear contact and inward clamping forces were actually VERY comfortable. Unlike the unyielding construction and high clamping force of the Blackshark V2 X (which resulted in so much discomfort I had to remove the headset every 20-30 minutes), I was EASILY wearing the Barracuda X for 2-3 hour gaming sessions at a single go without ever needing to touch or readjust the headset even once.

Moving on to function and controls, the Barracuda X puts all the controls and ports on the left earcup. Although the control possibilities themselves are minimal, this also means you're never really fumbling around from one earcup to the other trying to find volume, mute, or the power button. The volume wheel is nestled between the power and mic mute buttons...all are spaced far enough apart to allow easy access and manipulation without undue risk of adjusting one control while reaching for another. Although they are the same shape, the mic mute button features a longer push-button action than the power/multi-function button; however, there are no accompanying tones or LED status lights to indicate when the mic is muted. Nevertheless, the mic-on position (raised) feels different enough from the mute position (flush against the earcup) that I doubt anyone would mistake one position for the other--note that there is no mixing control dial for mic & playback volume levels. The main power button produces a set of rising & falling tones when the headset powers up or down--there are no spoken voice status indicators here. Beyond that, a single, double or triple press of the power button provides functions for play/pause & call accept/end, skip track and previous track--these functions worked perfectly from the headset when I was streaming Amazon music from my PC.

The Barracuda X works wirelessly with a small, paddle-shaped USB-C dongle; Windows reported output formal support up to 16-bit/48khz. The male USB-C connector on the dongle was long enough that it still seated securely in my daughter's Nintendo Switch, even through a full-body bumper case; the dongle does not appear to be large enough to intrude during handheld use. The Switch recognized the dongle immediately and playback began instantly without any setup or menu adjustments--very nice! You are also provided a USB-A to female USB-C cable that gives you a connection point in case you don't have an open USB-C port. Wireless range was about 25-30 ft around a corner before I noticed the first bit of signal degradation; range was even better (~50 ft) while I maintained direct line of sight to my PC. The headset can also operate in passive/analog mode using the provided 3.5mm combination (stereo and microphone) cable. Note that Razer did not include an audio/mic breakout cable, so you'll need to provide one of your own if your PC, laptop, or other device has separate analog jacks for audio output and mic input. The headset will not function as an external sound card without the dongle--the additional USB-A to USB-C cable is for charging only. The removable microphone (thank you!) features a foam windscreen and an idiot-proof, one-way insertion design into the earcup. The boom is long enough to position the mic well inside the outer edge of your mouth, and it nicely stays in place once bent into position (that has not always been my experience with other boom-style mics!). It would have been nice if Razer had included a small bag or case with the headset (though the earcups do swivel flat for low-profile stowage), and the analog cable is only about 53" tip-to-tip so you can't game in wired mode very comfortably if your PC is situated quite far from your seat. But aside from those observations, the Barracuda X comes very nicely appointed.

Finally, let's talk about performance. I didn't find mic recording quality or levels to be problematic at all; my teammates online had no trouble hearing me in the heat of battle, and my voice was devoid of any extreme distortion or tinny/metallic tones that I've experienced with lesser quality mics (YMMV depending on your setup/software support). As indicated up front, this headset does NOT require Synapse, but Razer's simulated 7.1 audio application is a separate (though mercifully small) client/download. Once you register your headset, you'll get a code to activate the program; but frankly, it doesn't seem all that necessary, at least on a Windows machine. The Razer 7.1 virtual surround solution isn't integrated with the OS like Windows Sonic or Dolby/DTS--you have to select a virtual 7.1 device (from the 'Sounds' settings page, or from the system tray) and then turn on 7.1 surround processing using the separate Razer 7.1 app (and then leave it running). The effect does add some depth/reverb, but it sounds pretty close (if not slightly inferior) to Windows Sonic IMO--Dolby & DTS are far more immersive and provide much greater realism in terms of a wide soundstage and convincing sound-source panning/localization. Once installed, you may upgrade to THX's Spatial Audio app (and are given a 50%-off code as incentive), but the number of supported games is currently somewhat limited so I eventually uninstalled Razer's 7.1 client in favor of the Dolby and DTS virtual surround processing solutions.

Yeah, great...but how did the Barracuda X actually SOUND? In a word--fantastic (especially at this price point)! Overall, I found these cans to be very pleasant and non-fatiguing with just a bit of "gamer-appropriate" bloom in the low end. Transient response felt very accurate--instruments & notes on busier tracks didn't seem to be distorting or smearing into each other. Highs and mids seemed quite articulate with female vocals & acoustic instruments sounding clear and clean without getting harsh or sibilant at very high frequencies. Compared to the Acrtis Pro Wireless and Audeze Mobius headsets, the Barracuda X did feel just a hair less "airy" or "breathy"--it was only a subtle difference in detail retrieval, but still noticeable, especially during some quick A/B comparisons on a repeating loop. However, those headsets also cost 3x-4x more, so the fact that the Barracuda X turned in such a strong performance in comparison is more than admirable. In the low end, however, the Barracuda X definitely kicked things up a notch--mid-bass and deep bass (like bass guitars or kick drums) had some extra oomph and almost palpable heft over both of those higher-end gaming headsets. Fortunately, however, all that extra warmth and low-end body never sounded muddy or overblown, nor did it wear me down over time. If you favor a warmer/bass-tilting sound signature, I'm very happy to report that the Barracuda X felt like it delivered without overpowering everything else in the mix. Well done, Razer--this one is a keeper!

Lightweight with wide range of compatibilty

I have had the pleasure of owning and using a large variety of gaming headsets – the Razer Barracuda X makes my 9th I believe. However, these are only my second pair of wireless headsets. My first wireless headphones are my Plantronics Rig 800HD, which I have been using as my daily drivers for 3 years now. I have come to appreciate the mobility of wireless headphones in the last year and a half while being WFH and virtual learning for my two younger kids. Something about being able to maintain a chat on my basement computer while making sandwiches upstairs for my kids is really convenient. Usually this extra freedom comes with some tradeoffs – added weight, reduced features compared to wired sets of similar price, and compatibility. I’ve have found this isn't necessarily the case for the Barracuda’s.

    Build Quality/Design

The Barracuda X has a pretty standard closed back design with a detachable mic boom and a few on-body controls. The headset uses a traditional headband with leatherette wrapped foam padding (about 3/8-1/2” thick). The earcups are wrapped in a breathable nylon mesh. Each earcup is able to rotate – they rotate inwards slightly to better fit different head shapes and can lay flat when rotating outwards (keeps the mic from hitting the other earcup when rotating like this). The headset itself is fairly lightweight (250g) – maybe a touch lighter than my Rigs. The plastic doesn’t feel cheap and the fit and finish is good – no sharp points, or unfinished edges. One thing I always look out for is if the headphones creak when you put them on, but the Barracuda’s don’t show any hint of that. The earcups are mated to the headband with a metal strap that adjusts for different head sizes – pretty standard.

The left earcup holds all of the controls/ports – power, mute, volume wheel, mic port, USB C charging port, and 3.5mm port. The mic port is also a 3.5mm but it has a different opening – circle with a flat on one side that acts as a guide for the mic. Included in the box are all of the connection cables. The charge cable (USB A to USB C), 5ft long 3.5mm (male-male) audio cable, extension cable (USB A male to USB C female), and the USB C wireless adapter. Each of the cords comes with an attached rubber cable wrap to bundle the cord up. Each cord appears to be well made, but are just jacketed in a textured rubber – no braid or anything like that. The 3.5mm cable utilizes TRRS connectors on both ends – the headphone side is a straight connector, and the device side is a 90° connector. If this cable ever gets damaged or lost you could replace it with an off the shelf cable without any problem. The box also includes a pretty nice setup/user guide which is somewhat rare these days.

The volume control is a scroll wheel with stops (it doesn’t spin infinitely in either direction). This control only affects the headset and doesn’t adjust the sound output of the device. I’m used to wireless headphones/earbuds controlling the overall system volume, not just the headphones volume. The power button has multiple functions. If connected to a phone or PC you can use the power button to play/pause a song (single press), answer an incoming call or hang up (single press), skip track (double press), previous track (triple press). These button presses are very responsive and easy to execute which is nice for a change. Turning on the headset requires pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds, and once on a tone plays through the speakers. Powering off is the same method, but a different tone plays. The headset auto shuts off after some period of time if nothing is playing or using the headset (maybe 20 min).

The design of the Barracuda X lends itself to long term comfort. The lightweight design and soft padded earcups keep them comfortable for long sessions. The earcups breathability kept my ears from feeling hot/sweaty. The headband is wide enough to spread out the load and keeps it from producing a pressure band across the top of my head. Overall the Barracuda’s could comfortably be worn for hours at a time without feeling any fatigue or discomfort.

One of the big selling points of the Barracuda is its broad compatibility. Using the USB C dongle its compatible with Android phones, the Switch, PS4/5 (with included USB extension adapter cable), and PC (extension cable might be needed unless a USB C port is available). Using the 3.5mm cable the headphones expand their compatibility to Xbox and any other devices that carry a 3.5mm jack. The only area the Barracuda X doesn’t cover is Bluetooth connectivity.

The Barracuda X’s come with a single, preloaded EQ. There is no adjustability on this front outside of controlling the EQ’s on the source device.

Moving on from that the headphones employ Razer’s 40mm Triforce drivers. 40mm is a fairly standard driver size in most of today’s headphones and usually translates to small, but punchy bass, good mids, and highs. Playing music or games that employ a lot of low/rumbly bass the drivers are a little lacking, which I have found is the norm unless you go to 50mm drivers. This is more or less what I found while using the Barracuda’s for music and games. Playing FNF the headphones kept up well with the music/beat and remained crisp. I played a lot of Halo and Wreckfest on PC, and those games sounded great. Footsteps were as sharp and easy to hear as the gunfire and grenade bangs. Even though the earcups aren’t perfect at noise isolation due to their material, they still blocked enough of the outside world to allow the finer details to come through (footsteps and movement sounds). Wreckfest played well with the abilities of the headset – engine noise, crashes, squealing tires were all replicated well.

For music reproduction the Barracuda’s worked great. Again, they are a limited by how deep/rumbly they can get but that only plays into some genre’s of music that I listen to. For the most part the music sounds great. Rock/pop both play well, and are on par with most of my headphones.

The edge the Barracuda’s have is they are light and comfortable enough to handle listening to music or playing games for long periods without needing to take a break.

The mic the Barracuda uses is on a detachable flexible boom with a somewhat large foam windscreen. The mic itself is setup to filter out as much background noise as possible while keeping your voice clear. I have a tower fan blowing right by me that the mic filtered out, and it even filtered out the sound of my semi-clacky keyboard. However, all of this filtering seems to come at the cost of me sounding quieter. On PC I can adjust my mic volume to boost my voice, but on my phone I don’t have that luxury. It’s not that I sound muted or anything, but when comparing to my other headsets I come across the quietest with the Barracuda’s.

The one thing that bums me out is the lack of side tone/mic monitoring. This is just a crucial feature to me nowadays. I have become accustom to it on my other headsets, and the ones that don’t have it don’t isolate my ears as well as the Barracuda’s. It’s almost like if you are going to do a good job of providing noise isolation, then you need to have a provision for sidetone. This should be absolutely doable with a wireless headset.

    Other Thoughts

I wish the Barracuda’s came with a bag or case. There are so many cords, the dongle, and the mic that I can see something important getting easily lost. Thankfully I had a spare headset pouch I wasn’t using that these can now reside in.

I want to have a better battery indicator. With my Rig’s I can bump the power button really quick and it will tell me (via audio through the speakers) if my battery is high/med/low. With the Barracuda’s you only get informed when you are at <30% by the little status light on the back of the left earcup turning red. You are again alerted at <10% when the light starts to blink red. Both of these indications require you to remove the headset to check the little light. Just seems this could be handled better.

The volume wheel is precariously placed. I find myself accidentally scrolling it with my thumb just by taking the headset off or putting it back on. Either the wheel needs to be a little more resistive to accidental scrolls, or it needs to be relocated.

Overall, the Barracuda X’s provide a great value proposition for anyone looking for a solid headset platform with more compatibility than you normally get in a wireless setup. The headset is lightweight and comfortable, and they provide fairly good sound reproduction as well. The mic does a great job of filtering out background noise, so even in a noisy environment your voice will still be heard. I wish it had a couple of features (carry pouch, side tone), but none of them are dealbreakers.

LOVE the Headset - HATE the Dongle

While suspiciously similar to the (older and cheaper) Steelseries Arctic 1, Razer’s Barracuda X is a great headset - so long as you are not bothered by the dongle (which is required for the wireless functionality).

The headset is affordable, lightweight, produces balanced sound, is comfortable to wear (even with glasses), very simple to control, has great battery life, a stellar microphone, and is compatible with nearly every device (except for iPhones) - But, I absolutely hate being tied to the dongle. Apparently the Hyperspeed Wireless technology has virtually no latency - which makes it technically better for gaming compared to Bluetooth. Bluetooth, however, is universally compatible with nearly every product that produces audio and it doesn’t require a dongle.

The dongle plugs into a USB-C port, but it is so wide that it blocks the other inputs on a laptop (see attached picture). To solve this issue, Razer has included a USB-A to USB-C extension cable. The added cable does ensure that the dongle doesn’t block other ports, but makes the dongle bulky. I would honestly rather have a Bluetooth connection as it would GREATLY improve the convenience of the Barracuda X.

...Bluetooth headsets are able to connect to multiple devices - which means that while you are gaming, you can also connect to your phone and listen to music, or accept phone calls. With the Barracuda X, you only have a single audio connection - which is really too bad. The headset design is low profile enough that it can actually pass as a pair of stereo headphones - instead of being the average bulky gaming headset that makes the wearer look like an air traffic controller. If the dongle was not required for wireless use, the Barracuda X could be the only headphones I need for home and for travel.

For a headset that is only used primarily in one location, or with one device - I do absolutely recommend the Barracuda X. But, if you want a single headset for multi-use that will travel with you - I believe that a Bluetooth headset is a better option.

    - CONS:

    - Requires a dongle for wireless functionality

    - No Active Noise Cancelation

    - Ear cups are rather small

    - Ear cups are shallow so ears press against the inside fabric

    - No cooling gel used in the padding

    - Ear cup padding is not replaceable

    - No official iPhone support

    - No built in audio controls other than Play/Pause

    - No Bluetooth functionality

    - Cannot connect to multiple devices at once

    - No battery meter / indicator

    - 3.5 mm cord has no microphone or controls built in

    Super versatile gaming fun!

Razer Barracuda X I found in my time of use very solid PC headphones I would easily recommend but there is so much more that makes the price way more compelling. With these headphones, there is a USB-C Dongle that you can use with a variety of consoles as well. This making headphones with the Nintendo Switch / Android / and a Playstation 5 as easy as plugging it in. I like what they have done with these new Barracuda X: the ease of use and its design to be as versatile as your gaming limits.

They come with a wireless USB-C Dongle for PC, Switch, and Android. For Playstation (and PCs without a USB-C) Don't worry, because you can still use these headphones with the provided USB-C to USB-A cord. There is an AUX cord for older devices with a headphone jack so your hardware is never left behind. Razer has taken care of every angle when it comes to your gaming needs for private listening. You have a detachable mic that is very clear with voice chatting, people were able to hear me clearly in matches of Overwatch.

For PS5 users, it's a great option to have for 3rd party headphones, They seem to be on par with the PULSE 3D Wireless Headset from Sony. The sound and Bass aren't strong but it's clear with a wide range of sound to hear footsteps and gunshots in the game you are playing. but I found these headphones way more comfortable than PULSE 3D, Barracuda X is lightweight and feels so good on the head. Cushions are nice and padded with the earcup feeling plush. Big thumbs up in that department to razer; even with the on-headset controls all of the buttons feel naturally placed in position from the volume rocker to the placement of the mute button. I can't tell you the countless times game manufacturers get this wrong. USB-C charges the headphones pretty rapidly.

For Switch Users, This is probably one of the best headphones to get. The USB-C dongle doesn't protrude out that far from the bottom part of the switch. As far as sound well it is as good as the Switch allows it to be. These are just a nice wireless option to have.

I mainly used these headphones on a Switch and a PC (Asus ROG M16) with Dolby Atmos activated and it was an amazing experience. I just think they are really great headphones in this price range. They sound good and they don't break the bank at all. They also look great and aren't too flashy with RGB or a wild light show. Design-wise they don't stand out much but they look nice with Razer branding on the headband glossy black.

After coming off using the Barracuda X, it's a headset that is or could be the only ideal multi-purpose headphones you'll need. They sound good, look fantastic, are lightweight, wireless, and work with many gaming devices. The bass is a little lacking but the headphones are overall just great if you are a gamer especially if you are using a Nintendo Switch. Razer made a good product and if you want great headphones that are affordable, these are a good model to start with.

    Decent sounds, very comfortable

I am always in need for gaming headsets due to the variety of platforms I can use it on. Living in a world of virtual meetings and online classes, it’s essential to have good sounds, microphone, and a sense of comfort for these long meetings. The Razer Barracuda is a nice entry for all of my needs, as I need cross platform: gaming, zoom, and entertainment.

I really enjoy the simplicity of these headsets. It is literally a “plug-in-play” device. Included is the usb-c receiver that you plug into your device. The headset will automatically pair up. This is so someone. Yes, you do lose a usb-c port and that is a struggle for devices that only have 1 or 2 ports. I used this for my Surface Pro 7 and Pixel Slate that has limited ports. My gaming computer does offer more connection so that is not a problem.

The sounds are decent. Bass is full and deep while the mids are clear. The over the ear cushion is a nice feel for my ears along with the cushioned headband. Microphone can be detached, which is nice for those moments you need to transport it in a bag. Included are a couple of usb cords for charging and plug-in for computers without a usb-c port, as well as a 3.5mm audio jack which is good for my XBox controller.

Overall, a nice sounding headset with great sounds and comfortable feel to it.

Solid headset for gamers on multiple platforms

I received this product in exchange for my fair and unbiased review.

The Razer Barracuda X wireless gaming headset is a solid choice for those who game on multiple platforms. While it lacks Bluetooth connectivity, the USB-C wireless dongle makes connection to modern platforms like Android phones, the Nintendo Switch, the iPad Pro, and computers with USB connectivity. An included USB-A to USB-C adapter cable makes connecting to a console or an older computer without USB-C easy. Charging the headset itself is also easy thanks to its USB-C connector. There's also an analog feature with included cable with this headset, which is handy if you have older devices or you want to use these with an iPhone (make sure you have a Lightning to headphone adapter).

Audio quality is pretty great overall - I didn't notice a difference between lossless streaming on Apple Music with these using a wired or wireless connection on my Mac. The microphone is clear and doesn't pick up on too much background noise. Bass is clear, highs are clear, and voices don't get muddy as you turn up the volume.

They're also surprisingly comfortable for longer gaming sessions. I kept at it with my Switch for a few hours and while I did realize I had them on, they stayed cool and comfortable.

Even the price for these are good. I was expecting the "Razer Tax", and these don't have that.

The biggest and only drawback I have with these is the lack of Bluetooth; I'd like to connect them to my iPhone without the cable, even with audio quality loss. If there's any other drawback for anyone, it's the lack of RGB lighting on them. While this doesn't bother me at all (I find RGB distracting), I realize some people want RGB.

All in all, Razer did well with the Barracuda X headset.

    All-in-one gaming headset but...

The best part about this headset is its universal use. I can use it on my switch, ps4, and 3ds. The only downside is the build. The headset is very plasticky and im scared every time i use it that if i make one bad move, itll eventually break. Luckily, im a careful person. To be specific with the part that im scared will break, its the ear muffs. It rotates inside 90 degrees and the thing that keeps it together and connects it to the headphones are plastic. The only durable product along this set are the rest of the stuff that comes with it. The wire has a really good quality to it. Ig most of the $100 were spent making those durable.

The TURTLE BEACH - RECON 200 has many great features, and is a good value at this price point. It is a gaming headset first, but does a good job at just audio as well. Since I play on PC, PS, and XBOX, I think it is great that it works well for all 3, with a physical switch to select between them (use PS for PC). I wear glasses, so it is sometimes hard to find a headset that is comfortable with glasses.

The TURTLE BEACH - RECON 200 has just enough pressure to keep the headset on, without smashing your glasses into your ears.

I especially appreciate that there is a separate microphone monitor volume, so I can hear myself when I talk and I don’t have to remix it through the console. I also like the flip up MIC to turn off the mic.

The controls are easy to find without being too close together as is the case with some headsets. It is a wired headset, but if you want to use some of the features like mic feedback and bass boost, then you will want to charge it before your next gaming session. I did find that if I had it charging and playing at the same time, I had a slight buzzing sound (probably a ground issue on my PC). This is easily solved, by not charging it while playing.

The fit is comfortable for my large head, though it does not use the newer “floating” style headband found on heavier sets. Overall, that is OK, as the TURTLE BEACH - RECON 200 is not very heavy at only about 275 grams. It was still very comfortable. The padding on the ear cups is perfect, not too hard or too soft.

Note that if you use it on a PC that has separated MIC and HEADSET jacks you will need a splitter/combiner that is not included with the headset.

Audio is really subjective and hard to review, you have to test things out for yourself to find your own sweet spot Here are my subjective ratings. (10 = Best)

For my taste the sound was good, but average, nothing wrong, but nothing special. It was surprising to me that the bass was not stronger given the “always on” bass boost.

The microphone is very clear (better than most in this range), but because there is no active noise canceling, you could also hear every keypress on my mechanical keyboard, while I was gaming on my PC. The mic almost seems omnidirectional due to all the background noises it was picking up.

    - Lightweight

    - Glasses Friendly

    - Hardwired, so you know it works with everything

    - Powered for bass boost

    - Selectable between PC/PS/Xbox

    - Quality Build Overall (but I don’t like the cheap cord vs braided cords)

    - Great sounding Microphone

    - Microphone Monitor W/ Separate Volume

    - USB-C Charging Cable (instead of Micro USB)

The TURTLE BEACH - RECON 200 is a great value headset. It is not an ultra high-end headset that costs 10X either. It is a very attractive and overall good all-around performer that works on all platforms without breaking the bank. I have other gaming headsets in this range, that might sound a touch better, but without as many features like flip up mic or microphone monitor. As I said, the sound part is really subjective and changes even from headsets of the same make and model due to slight variations in the mfg process.

Even though the sound is not perfect, I still give the TURTLE BEACH - RECON 200 full marks due to its overall build quality, comfort, and features. In other words, I don’t expect studio quality sound in this range.

    Great Budget Gamer Headset

I haven’t used a Turtle Beach headphones in a long time and I decided to try these and I wasn’t disappointed by the Recon 200 Gen 2. The headphones came in a simple no-fuss box with just the headphones (wired), a USB C charging cable, and the usual paperwork.

The headphones have a simple design and seem to be constructed of mainly plastic with a steel piece running through the headband. I must point out that the headphones are very light and this might work out very well with wearing them for very long sessions (after a while I barely felt it, and I have a big head). The earcups of the headphones are very comfortable, they have somewhat of a mesh design and they are very breathable, they didn’t heat up much while wearing them for a couple hours. You can also stretch them out very far with no fear of them breaking, I tried this a few times and they felt fine and returned to their original default shape with no issues. The earcups can also rotate so that they can lay flat on a table.

Next, we have the controls, which are all located on the lower third of the left earcup, and easy to use. You have a volume dial, a microphone volume dial, a switch that goes between the Playstation setting (shift it up), off setting (center) and the Xbox setting (shift down), USB-C port, then the 3.5mm cord( not detachable). On the outside of the left headphone, you also have a nonflexible mic (you cant extend it or bend it into your preferred position) that flips up for mute.

When it comes to sound, I don’t have much to complain about here. I must first point out that to use the headphones they don’t need to be charged, but to get the console-specific sound profiles which include a boost to the bass, the headphones will need to be charged. According to Turtle Beach they should last about 12 hours, and I have used them on and off for the last two days for about 13 hours and they are still working, so I can confirm they beat the time suggested by Turtle beach. Eventually, when the batteries run out of juice the sound does change and sound less impactful but it doesn’t stop. The most noticeable change you will notice is that the Playstation setting, is clearly much louder than the off setting, but it is also louder than the Xbox setting.

I’ve used this on a Playstation, a Switch, and on a PC, and across all of them, the sound was ok. I can say the gaming experience was definitely enhanced by using these headphones, not anything out of this world but definitely noticeable and it was appreciated. Also, the mic is pretty decent and I had no complaints from anyone who heard my voice through the Recon.

My only serious gripe with the Recons is that the sound bleeds pretty badly. Even at low volumes, anyone nearby to you even in a not so quiet environment will be able to make out what you are listening to.

Overall, the Turtle Beach Recons Gen 2’s, are a decent pair of budget headphones that are comfortable, durable, and would be greatly suited to gamers and anyone who doesn’t care too much about sound leakage.

    Really Comfortable Gaming Headphones.

These Turtle Beach RECON 200 (Gen 2) headphones are incredibly comfortable! They are replacing a 7+ year old pair of genuine Sony Silver Wired headphones that I've been using most weekends.

Our normal gaming sessions last for about 5 hours on a Friday or Saturday night, and these new Turtle Beach headphones are so incredibly comfortable to wear. The memory foam ear cushions are covered in athletic fabric, and the foam itself is very soft and breathable. I would usually end up with hot ears and have to move my original headphones around to remain comfortable. I was able game for 5 hours without even thinking about the headphones. They memory foam also helps accommodate people who wear glasses, the pressure from the cups on the head is minimized, leaving them a lot more comfortable for glasses wearers. The padded grey headband also just rests on top of your head, and doesn't feel heavy or dig in at all.

Sound was loud, clear and crisp, although, I did have a slight amount of really low level feedback in the background, and with the variable mic monitoring feature that these headphones have, I could hear my voice within my own ear cups when talking, which took some getting used to. But once leveled out with the independent game volume and voice volume controls incorporated into the ear cup, they were great.

The sound was truly immersive, clear definition of sounds, explosions, footsteps, and according to my buddies, my voice was clean and crisp and they had no issues hearing me at all. This is absolutely key, as when you are strategizing, you don't want to have to keep repeating yourself, or interrupting. Everything was clear and crisp, both talking to my buddies and also hearing every word they said. You can also flip the mic up to mute, if you need to snack/drink/cough!

These headphones also feature 'always on' Bass Boost, provided by the 12 hour battery life included in a single charge (that can also be charged while playing). I wouldn't say it was 'earthquaking rumble', but it was definitely present and sounded good.

Overall, very happy with these lightweight, durable, and 'color co-ordinated with my PlayStation 5' (i.e. white) headphones! They are very comfortable, with clear sound, decent bass, good microphone pick up, easy of use controls on the ear cup to dial in your volumes (and even switch between XBox and PlayStation settings).

Great When Powered, Decent Without It

    --- SETUP ---

This wired headset needs no charging for use. Plug the headset into any 3.5mm jack and you’ll be listening to your audio in no time.

    --- FEATURES ---

40 mm speakers with rechargeable battery-powered bass boost, lightweight, ear-covering cushions, flip-to-mute mic, glasses-friendly, mic monitoring.

    --- PERFORMANCE ---

As soon as I put on the headphones, my glasses-wearing self immediately appreciated the comfort. It is noticeable compared to headphones that don’t feature glasses-friendly comfort. I first tested this gaming headset with my PC on single-player games like the atmospheric Death’s Door (on Steam), and 12 Minutes (on Xbox GamePass). I listened to my games for about an hour without turning on the power and I was enjoying the games just ok. After my ears normalized the audio, I flipped the power switch. The switch features flipping up for PS or down for Xbox. As per the instruction manuals, when connected to a PC, it’s recommended you flip up for PS. The audio suddenly felt more full and louder. I had to lower the volume so that it wouldn’t be so loud. Definitely the best was to play, but if they run out of juice, you can still continue enjoying the audio sans the boost.

I then plugged in my headphones to the Xbox Series X to enjoy co-op matches of Back 4 Blood with a friend. We joined a party and my friend didn’t notice any difference in hearing me, which was great. My normal headphones for the Xbox Series X are a wireless surround sound headset priced way higher than the Turtle Beach Recon 200. Before I played with him, I made sure to set the Xbox settings for optimal sound. The instruction manual tells you what to change in the sound menus (pictured in this review for easy reference). I enjoyed hearing every undead squeal as my friend and I mowed them down.

    --- EXPECTATIONS ---

After 2 8ish hour sessions of multiplayer and a few 3 hour sessions of single player games, the headset felt comfortable on the head and while wearing glasses. The mic is more than capable of keeping up with my other higher end headsets and I like that even if I run out of battery for the bass boost, the sound is decent enough to enjoy. I love the control of the volume on the headset itself as well as the control of mic monitoring.

    --- APPROVAL ---

If your significant other needs a new headset or you have a new gamer in the family, this is a great starting place that I would easily recommend to anyone.

    Form Fitting Sound

First thing I asked was, what's with the charging cable for a wired headset? Apparently this is actually pretty cool. The drivers are battery powered to amp up the sound quality for a more immersive gaming experience. I don't know why they feel the Playstation setting is louder than the Xbox setting. Reason being, it doesn't matter what system you play on, even for pc, just leaving it on Playstation mode and you'll get that extra kick. The revocable driver muffs are cloth and very comfortable. I've gamed with the for 5 hours straight before taking a break, even then, I didn't feel any ease fatigue. I just needed take a break, intermission, so to speak. I wear glasses, so it's important to have comfortable headphones. Job will done, on that front. The white goes great with my pc and would look great with a Playstation 5 or Switch OLED as well. All about that color coordination y'all. The 3.5mm jack allows you to use this for any of our consoles, PCs or smartphone with an aux port. Of course there's the boom mic and easy to use controls on the ear muff. Turtle Beach has made these very durable for the price tag. I really can't say anything bad about them. Only thing I can say is, if you can splurge, get yourself some wireless headphones, just for the ability to move more freely, but that's really it. These are some excellent headphones. And this is a great price for them. I believe they come in black or white, so you get to pick your flavor. Happy gaming. Yes. I recommend these.

    Powerful sound, comfy.

Great headset, I like that I can use it with multiple devices. So far I have used it on my PS4 and my Nintendo Switch (I would guess you can use it with a PC too, however your pc may need one of those mic and headphones in one minijack, if not, you can buy an Y adapter).

These are battery powered, however don't get confused, it doesn't mean they're wireless, as they still need a physical connection to your console of choice via the minijack cable (it connects to your PS4 controller audio minijack output, or the switches out minijack). It has a battery because, and this is my guess, it has some sort of DAC or power booster (it definitely has, as the sound is much more powerful than any passive headphones). So you have to make sure they are charged with the included USB type C cable (finally, type C usb is becoming the norm).

The mic flips up or down (effectively muting or unmuting the mic), very convenient. Also, they memory foam is really good, when I'm not wearing my contacts and wearing glasses these were extremely comfy, so peeps with glasses, don't be afraid.

Highly recommend them, these are a no frills very powerful gaming headphones!!

Good Headset and a Good Price

I have used many headsets on my various Xbox models over the years. This is the 3rd from Turtle Beach. They continue to put out good gaming audio products.

    - My favorite feature is the mic monitor. None of my prior headsets had one and this was handy to be able to check if others can hear me ok or if my breathing could be heard. You never want to be the annoying person with a noisy mic in the party.

    - Sound was crisp and clear. Terrific audio quality for the price

    - This headset is compatible not just with Xbox models, but also the PS4, PS5, and can be used on PCs as well.

    - The headset is rechargeable, allowing for up to 10 hours of gaming at a time.

    - The feature to mute yourself simply by lifting the mic up and back is creative

    - My concerns all have to do with the USB-C charging cable and port. While the headset is rechargeable, the charging cable isn't long enough to conveniently play and charge at the same time. It's barely 2 feet long so expect to charge in between gaming sessions rather than during unless you have a USB port very close by. Another concern is that the USB-C connector doesn't fit neatly into the port on the headset. I have to use a little bit of force to get it plugged in. This doesn't impact functionality, but does seem like a minor design flaw.

Overall, I'd encourage others to give this headset a look. It's affordable and performs as advertised. I'm a Turtle Beach fan.

    Great game playing headphones.

    Great headphones.

Easy to use. Easy to setup.

I charged them up plugged it in and I was all set.

Used on my switch. Volume and mic controls are easy to use.

Can run without power assistance. Volume is just low. Turn on for volume booster. Mic mute is neat. Just raise the boom and it mutes.

Comfortable to use. This uses a different material. It feels more breathable but it does not seal out all ambient noise because it is porous. So make sure you know that before you buy it. Was very easy to wear.

Battery use is pretty good. Played 5 straight hours and no problem.

Tested using Dolby Atmos sound and it was pretty decent with surround sound capabilities.

Cord came attached which is good and bad. Good you will never loose it. Bad that it might get in the way sometimes.

Regardless. Based on my experience I would recommend this product.

    SteelSeries great for gaming w/(audiojacks)

The headphones are very comfortable and adjustable. The elastic headband at the top stops any pressure/sweat issues. the boom microphone is Good quality for the price and only has minimal pop or distortion noticeable. It has standard 3.5mm audiojacks but, does not have USB connector so that is something you need to be aware of, in addition the cord is single input plug but the extension cable is microphone and audio split. The 4 foot primary cable should be enough since you have to plug directly into the controllers for console machines. For laptop users you are restricted to 4 feet based on plug, extension wont work as you would lose microphone capability. Luckily my PC has front Audio connectors or the added length of the extension wouldnt have helped much as some PCs only have back audio 3.5mm connection points.

    Comfortable and surprising

I was tired of using headsets that made my ears ache or my head sore… I decided to buy something comfortable. These are indeed lightweight, and the ear-cups are soft and breathable. I noticed the way the head band is set up stops any pressure on the top of my head, so no sore spots. It has a retractable mic, which I have not tried (I don’t use it). The audio quality is not bad, it’s above average for the price range this headset is in. If you need a headset you can wear for a long movie or game session that won’t empty your pockets, this headset fits the bill.

    Quality and Sizing

Quality is great, gives wire options for both pc or console, only compliant is the headsets comfortability. It’s a bit too big on the ears making it easy to fall off my head. While the head band itself is adjustable, the ear cushions have an out ward angle to them making them easy to slip by the turn of your head. I do suggest just making sure the measurements will fit your head comfortably before purchasing.

    Best in its price range!

I would like to start this review off by saying that I purchased this about 2 months ago and decided to wait on the review to make sure I could rate it accurately. As stated in the title of my review, this is definitely the best headset in its price range for some very good reasons. The first reason is this sounds amazing for an $80 headset, especially with the included EQ software by Razer. Second reason is the headset is very comfortable to wear for long sessions because of the size and shape of the ear cushions gel in them. I can accurately speak for the comfort of these as I wear them for the majority of a day at a time. The final pro of this headset has to be the built-in retractable microphone, as it is a decent quality mic for the price of the headset and having that extra function of retraction when you don't want it is very useful. This headset does not have any outstanding flaws of function or design, although there are a couple areas for slight improvement. The two areas being the mic and headband. I know I previously stated the mic is decent for the price, and it is, however I am sure it can be improved upon a little. On the headband, I believe there is room to improve it to be more on par with the design of the ear cushions. All in all, I rate the headset 5 stars.

Cord became exposed within first month of use. I only use these to game and only game a couple nights a week so I was very disappointed. They do still work, but I have to be carful with it since the cored integrity is compromised. Mic also doesn't always pick up my voice, but this is a problem I have consistently with headphones and I'm more soft spoken personally.

    Very good headset!

Overall good audio quality, mic is decent, havent gotten any complains from friends not being able to hear me etc. Ear cuffs are pretty comfy, even for someone with glasses. Great for long gaming sessions. Only thing I didn't like was the awkwardly long 3.5 audio cable. Its not detachable and its a lot longer than other wired headsets I've had, often feels like a pile of cable in my lap. Some might like longer cables, I just don't.

    Great headphones

I spent a lot of time researching a good set and this is the winner. They truly sound amazing! I picked them due to the dual drivers for treble/bass and also having a larger driver. The cord is long enough so I don't even notice that I'm connected. The cups and band have a great feeling. If I had any complaints, being minor to me, it's that the cups do get warm/hot but you only notice that once they come off. I also don't like that there isn't any physical adjustment for the mic but it doesn't get in my way. If you pair this with the audio controller + then you will have all the features needed, except for wireless.

Headphones with a very "gamer aesthetic"

The Turtle Beach Recon 70 is a stylish set of gaming headphones.

They’re made completely out of plastic, and the build quality is fairly solid (for plastic). My set is primarily black with red accents along the upper pad, extendable frame, and cable. It coordinates very well with my black and red gaming laptop. The cable is firmly attached to the headphones and can’t be removed as these headphones don’t have any wireless capabilities, and it can’t be replaced should it get damaged. The cable is also fairly short, so don’t expect to use these while gaming on the TV (unless you’re sitting two feet away from your television). This is unfortunate as a removable aux cable that could be swapped out for a longer cable when working with the Switch in docked mode would have been appreciated. That being said, there are cable extenders on the market that can fill this gap as well.

The headphones are fairly comfortable to wear, but it did take several days for me to break them in. When I first got them, they pinched my head uncomfortably; and I was all set to toss in the towel and declare that I hated them. They seemed to loosen up with repeated use though, and they now fit my head quite comfortably for extended gaming sessions.

The headphones plug in via a standard aux cable connection. This means that they can function as headphones for any device with a standard headphone port (i.e. laptops, desktops, [some] phones, handheld consoles . . . etc.). In order to use the integrated microphone, you have to have either a microphone / headphone combo port (standard on the Nintendo Switch but inconsistently available on other devices – alas, my gaming laptop doesn’t have a combo port; but my desktop does for some reason) or a special splitter cable to connect to both the microphone and headphone port to a single input.

Sound quality is good. It’s not the best I’ve ever head, and hardcore audiophiles will probably want something better, but it’s perfectly adequate for gaming or casual media consumption. The headphones do a good job of blocking out ambient noise by simple dint of completely covering your ears with large amounts of padding. With the headphones on, but no sound playing, I was able to make out only a dull murmur from the people sitting next to me at the coffee shop.

One feature that I really liked about these headphones is the physical volume dial on the left ear cup. The dial feels good for making fine adjustments to the volume. It’s much preferable to touchscreen volume controls or a volume rocker.

In summary, The Recon 70 headphones are solid headphones with a good “gamer aesthetic” and some bonus perks in the form of an integrated microphone and physical volume dial. I would recommend these to a friend.

Great Entry Level Turtle Beach Headset

I picked up this headset for the Nintendo Switch™ for my 8 year old son. I wanted something that wasn't crazy expensive but allowed the rest of the family not to be drowned out by him playing on his Nintendo Switch. Cue the TURTLE BEACH® RECON 70 Gaming Headset for Nintendo Switch™.

I tested them out initially, firing up the Nintendo Switch and launching Splatoon 2. The load screen has squids scrolling up the screen with audio coming through the left and right as they do.

The sound was crisp and clear, and definitely defined in the left and right channels, giving almost a surround sound feel.

Diving into an online session, you really were given a sense of spatial awareness from the headphones as you moved around the gameplay area. You clearly heard players behind you and to the side of you. Very neat considering these aren't true 'surround sound' headphones.

The bass is there, but not obtrusive, which for a young gamer is perfect. The highs are crisp and clear and perfectly adequate for an immersive experience with the Nintendo Switch.

As for the build quality, these headphones are predominantly plastic, which does make them lightweight, with a good color compliment to the Nintendo Switch (Black/Red). The ear pads are comfortable and don't leave you with sweaty ears after a while of continued wearing.

The volume control is a little awkwardly placed, my 8 year old didn't intuitively find it, he wanted it to be closer to the front of the headset.

The mic pops down easily with a satisfying 'notched click' reinforcing that you have engaged the mic. Lift it back up and it mutes the chat, so you aren't broadcasting your lunchtime eating habits to the world! The audio quality is clear during voice chats, and with a good solid connection, there are no whines, pops or squeals from the headset.

The cord is bright red, with a 3.5mm jack on the end, but it could do with being about another 1ft longer. It was fine for my son, but when I used them, I did end up getting a little tangled up in them. The cord isn't detachable, it's fixed on the headset end, so you won't be able to switch it out if it gets damaged at all.

The headset is versatile, and while labeled on the packaging as for 'Nintendo Switch', they are also Xbox and PS4 compatible. My son also uses them with his iPad, so happily doing double duty.

Overall, these Turtle Beach Recon 70 headphones are a great entry level headset for a young gamer, lightweight, robust and attractive with a good sound and comfortable wearing dynamc.

    Impressed with sound quality

I'm a gamer. I play PC, Console and handheld (Switch)

I did this review on the turtle beach recon 70s by having my two other headsets next to me and seeing how the sound quality weight and comfort and price compared.

Price: The Recon 70 wins this hands down. Both my other two cost me alot more. One of them (we will call it green headset) cost over $100, the other (Black) $80 and we all know that the Recon retails at $39. Clear #1 on price for Recon 70.

Sound Quality: out of the three the Recon 70 was almost tied for first here if not #1. My Green headset had a louder sound which I like but it seemed the Recon was much richer in sound. My black headset is not good at sound and was by far the worst.

Weight: my black headset feels the lightest, Recon 70 is next and my Green is heaviest. Recon is much more comfortable so far then both.

Overall I am very surprised at how nice and comfortable such a lower priced headset is! Was not expecting to use it as much as my Green but frankly It is my top option due to how comfortable and lighter it is. My green headset isnt bad but somehow I cant use it for long periods of time due to the feel (tight and heavy)

    Well done Turtle Beach!

    Just Ok

I gave these headphones to my stepson for Christmas to use with both his Xbox and PS4. I tried them out as well and they are exactly as my title states: just ok. Nothing really stands out for them as amazing or bad. They are comfortable to wear. The sound quality is acceptable. My only complaint is how quickly the aux port broke.

This is decent entry level gaming headset

The Turtle Beach Recon 70 is an entry level gaming headset and has versions for xbox, PS4, Switch/PC platforms. This review will focus on the Switch/PC version.

First, the Recon 70 comes in a variety of colors wherein the Switch version has a black and red version and a midnight red version which maroon like. (The xbox version has green and presumably the PS4 version has the blue color.

Overall, the headset is made of plastic which is expected for this model. Yet build quality is very decent and unlike the rickety plastic feeling of other headsets in class. The faux leather cushions are nicely made and the headset is quite comfortable to wear even for extended periods of time.

The headset jack is the single jack type which is commonly found in phones which makes it compatible for laptops and of course the Nintendo Switch. The downside here this the length of the cable is only roughly one meter long.

And now for the audio quality. It seems it’s kind of a mixed bag for me. When I tested the headset on the Switch running Fortnite, spatial sound was decent but somehow there was some noticeable distortion in the audio output. At first I thought it was the headset not really being good. But since it had the single jack, I decided to try it on an Eluktronics gaming laptop and clarity was greater and there was no distortion whatsoever when I tried Fortnite. But of course that’s a laptop setup for gaming. I then tried the headset on a 10.1” Insignia tablet and audio from Youtube was pretty much ok. Tweaking audio settings on both computers also helped. And still no distortion. So I suspect it may be the Switch is causing the distortion. And I am not aware of any equalizer setting for the Switch.

The foldable mic is cool which is similar to other models and is better than the ones found in other models. It also has a volume control too.

Overall, this is a good headset for a gamer who wants a no frills headset. And lastly, in the looks department it looks any other stereo over-the-ear headset which is fine by me since I prefer that compared futuristic designed headsets for dedicated gamers. That said this gaming headset is still a recommended buy. Not the best but definitely still far worse.

    Great Headset for Nintendo Switch!

This headset is very comfortable and light even during extended gaming. They block out or muffle most external sound. You can customize a lot of settings such as the equalizer, dynamic range compression, and mic sidetone using the free Steelseries Engine software on a computer. It will connect directly into the USB-c port where you put the Nintendo Switch charging cable. And it has the wire to plug into the USB port on the Switch dock as well.

The mic needs to be close to the mouth to pick up your voice loud enough for the sidetone, which allows you to hear yourself through the headset since it is noise cancelling. The mic will then pick up the sound of breathing out of your nose as well. The ear cups also make it feel as if your ears aren't "breathing," and ears tend to get very warm.

Overall I really like them, especially cause they have great sound quality and settings, and they pair perfectly with the Nintendo Switch!

    Amazing Wireless headphones

If you have a Nintendo switch, this is pretty much the only officially supported option but they are fantastic. Comfortable and I appreciate they didn't choose the ski head band for adjustment and went with the traditional adjustment. Extremely flexible and no way that I see to break these.

They also work with the STeelSeries Software for adjustments but they are USB Type c connection. Just plug into the USB Type C connection on your tablet, android phone, windows PC etc and it just works and sounds great.

The ONLY COMPLIANT I have is WHY SteelSeries did you make these charge on MICRO USB and not on USB TYPE C? The Switch is USB type C, the dongle is USB type C?

Please do an updated version that makes sense

Besides that these are great options and for $100 with the sound and build quality you cant beat them.

Go get one you will be happy you did

    Best-in-class headset

Best headphones out there for switch at this price point and they are supremely comfortable. Love the physical mute switch that lets you wear them and cough without worry. Beware that if you are thinking of leaving the dongle plugged into the switch and intend on playing without the headphones, you will have no sound on the TV. So, you'll have to unplug the dongle for the TV to play the sound from the game.

    Nice no bull#### wireless headphones.

Pretty good and universal headphones. Nice design allows them to be worn publicly and not looking like a total gamer.

Sound quality? Nice bass, mid and high frequencies are.. fine for a gaming headset, anyway if you are an audiophile, you'd get smth for your preamp, not some wireless gaming set.

Very comfortable fit. Hold nicely on the head and not really tight.

Mic quality is OK. Not the best, but people will hear you roar.

Also work if I plug the wireless adapter to my phone (Galaxy Note 20 Ultra).

I'd recommend there over Corsair or Razor for similar price.

Cons? No rgb, but hey who needs that crap anyway.

Ok if you get them for 50 ish. Go with pulse

It's an okay headset. People i played with actually liked the muc better on the 3d pulse. Thats where i get mixed up. The 3d pulse are actually better overall with the newest ps5 update. It lets you equalize the headset. I just didnt like the "leather" hear muffs. Made my ear sweat. Back to the arctis. Is better on the hear muffs. Almost equal on sound. Mic is pretty bad. People said i sounded tiny. As in like no bass to my voice. Over all i wouldnt buy them or recommend them. I would rather go with the 3d pulse or astro a50.

Great Head Set, Missing one Key Feature: Auto-OFF

First off this is a great headset. Gives you that amplified stereo sound that puts you into the game. The mic works well, if not too well. So when it comes to the Mic your party will be able to hear everything, as there is not a lot of noise cancellation. But this isn't a $200 headset, so I expect there to be shortcomings. The only feature I wish they did included is an auto turn off future when you don't use it for a long time. Sometimes I forget and they stay on and kill the battery. But they can work when connected to a battery pack, so I just do that when I forget to turn it off.

I there is one thing that I am high maintenance about, it is sound quality and headphone quality/comfort. And I like my things to look nice. These look pretty cheap.

I am a music producer of many years now, from guitar to piano to ukulele and now I produce EDM. In other words, I am a DJ. As many know, DJs need headphones! I have been through many, many headphones in my time... Even before now. And because of that extensive knowledge that I have gained over the year about music and sound quality, I am an absolute HEADPHONE FANATIC!

For me, a headphone consists of three important things:

    - Sound Quality

    - Comfort

    - Pressure

I have to be honest, I have a large head with really sensitive ears. If you have a similar case or you are looking for these for a young child with a big head and/or sensitive ears, then I can speak from experience, these are pretty intense headphones.

The sound quality is AMAZING!!! But the bass response is really obviously enhanced. This is great for First Person Shooters or suspenseful games, then these are WONDERFUL. If you want a more well-rounded and versatile sound experience, these probably aren’t for you.

In terms of comfort, my big head does not like these. They are not very comfortable for long-term use, BUT I have gotten used to them. I also like that they are semi-swivable meaning to say that they can move side to side a bit. This adds slight versatility but they still feel uncomfortable. You do get used to them though and that’s a price I’m willing to pay for the sound quality and price of these headphones.

Finally, these do produce quite a bit of pressure on my head. Despite not being noise cancelling (which typically are the reason for as much pressure as these headphones produce), they still produce a lot of pressure on my head. It feels as if these headphones are so tight that they suction all the noise in and make my brain want to burst, especially as a result of all of the bass.

All in all, these headphones really failed me. I think these are decent entry level gaming headphones that will be extremely impressive to children and young adults who play first person shooters. But as an adult with a large head, it is really just average. And a word to the wise, be careful giving children powerful bass responding headphones like these. They can really ruin hearing for the youth.

And finally... these are really overpriced headphones.

    Great quality for decent price

I bought two of this item, one black and one white, for my kids. They love it and use it everyday. Quality is good and so is the price!

    Great Headset :)

No static white noise when powered and sounds amazing for a wireless headset. Tried this and the g pro and I can say that these sound better, but the logitech g pro wireless is a little more precise for fps games like Rainbow 6. Overall this headset is worth the money if you are looking for wireless. I can't say much for the mic, wireless headsets tend to have very compressed sounding mics.

Great headsets, rich sound and quality

I came from a very dissapoint experience with the Hyper X Cloud Alpha S 7.1 and these headphones DO DELIVER.

At a discounter price tag (160 USD) I think you get what you pay for. The sound is very rich, these headphones are AWESOME for music as well as for gaming (a thing most gaming headset suck at), and the versatility of the EQ mixer is a key asset as it allows to get the best sound experience out of these headsets

I felt the stock sound wasn't AS good as it could get, so after googlin a bit I came into a reddit post that suggest the EQ mixer i'm attaching, and I must say the sound is WAY better than the flat default line (obviously this is subjective to every person). But as I mentioned, to be able to have the flexibility is a key aspect of this product.

Wireless signal has been strong with no hiccups and battery life is also pretty good.

I dont know why the specific THX competitive profiles for specific games sound like trash, but the "auto feature" in general works pretty good

Well done Razer and keep it up!

Great sounding + PS5 compatible wireless headset

Would give these a solid 5 if it weren’t for one simple thing, adjustment. I’ve seen this as a complaint for these but it’s definitely not a deal breaker once you have them on and in use. Using these with my PS5, which by the way you can use wirelessly with the provided dongle.

-Love the sound, pretty crisp, punchy when it needs to be, not too bass heavy and distorted. And at least when using them on my ps5, and the volume setting on the system set to the max, I can get good volume out of them.

-comfortable, the cushions are soft, even they don’t have the pleather exterior I actually get good noise canceling out of these, I can tell by how my wife is waving her arms in the air yelling for my attention.

-physically nice, they are on the light side, they may not seem like it but are sturdy and never worry about breaking or snapping something. Volume control knob is nice and controls are easy to find/memorize on the left ear cup.

-adjustment, they don’t have set notches by any means, so they have a free and maybe a bit too loose of an adjustment for my personal taste, but I don’t find it enough a problem to where it would make them unusable.

I was happy to finally see a decently priced Astro gaming headset! Right out of the box I was impressed, these look, feel and sound great. Simple plug and play into my Xbox One controller, no need to worry about recharging. Compared to the last gaming headset I bought, a Turtle Beach Xbox 360 set that needed to be plugged into the controller and system to work. Im very happy with this purchase. A+

    Great for Gaming

These headphones are pretty amazing! They get the job done and make it so I can hear gameplay well and also speak with other players. I also use the headphones when on Discord and they pick up my sound great. No complaints from anyone. I even like the muting feature with raising the microphone. The only gripe I have is after an hour or so, the earmuffs begin to hurt my head. However, I do wear glasses as well which could be contributing.

    I’d highly recommend the buy.

Fantastic product for the price BUT. . .

When I received my product, I immediately used it playing COD Warzone. It worked fantastic; great sound, great microphone pickup. It worked for two games, after the second game, the game and chat audio now only come from the right ear. I have done all the troubleshooting steps to fix this problem and it's just defective. Have been in contact with the manufacturer, and I think due to the covid-19 pandemic happening they are taking forever to reply.

Over all, really satisfied besides getting a defective product. . but that's not best buys fault.

    Good for playing video games

These headphones have been pretty great for me while I play games. The audio sounds clear and it feels comfortable on the ears. Sometimes I have to take them off for a bit since it can hurt the top of my head if I wear them too long (several hours), but it's a good reminder to stretch and not play for too long :) The only thing I can't comment on is the microphone, since I use a stand microphone for my PC. But I've used the headset to record audio on my phone before, and it sounded clear.

    Material is terrible

I'm not really a review person but I feel you all should know about my experience with the Razen Headset. Let start with the pros,

    Pros: Great sound

    Easy mute

    Extendable attachment cord

Cons: Material (the plastic has to be 3D printed, one small tap and they crack until the hed set is in parts)

I know that there is only one con but it is a major one. I had to but ducktape to hold t together. I can't adjust the headset for my head and it is just very uncomfortable now.

Cracking after 2 Months, Warranty Denied

These headphones have fine sound and mic pickup. I like the longer cord and that they included a splitter since I have a PC with separate headphone and mic jacks.

However, after barely 2 months of ownership, the inner headband that connects to the ear is cracking on both sides. One side is cracked badly enough that I have to push that side completely down so that it doesn't get any worse.

I contacted Razer about this since I'm past the return policy for Best Buy and Razer denied the claim saying it's due to customer use and it wouldn't be fair to replace them because I didn't buy their RazerCare plan. Apparently I should have added that on because then they would cover these headphones.

I'll just keep using them until they fully break but at the rate it's going, that might be within a month, but never again with Razer.

    Almost perfect.

Overall this headset is pretty good however the chat sound could be better

I previously used the Sony Gold headset since it was a wireless headset. It had good sound and chat quality was pretty good. I recently upgraded to the Astro A40’s which are wired but a vastly superior headset. These Turtlebeach’s are on the lower end of headsets I’ve used.

The headset is really lightweight which is nice. It’s probably the lightest ones I’ve used and even after a 5 hour Destiny 2 grind, they felt really comfortable. For those with big heads like me, this headset felt a bit tight at the top. I wear a 7 3/8 fitted hat so anyone with a big head, this is something you’ll need to be aware of. While labeled a PS4 headset, these are plug-and-play on PC as well. Setup was super quick on PC so there is that. This headset charges via USB-C so they’re quick to charge and could be wired to your PS4/PC if you wanted to. All the controls are on the left side of the headset along with the boom mic. Pretty easy to get used to them as there is only a sound volume, chat volume dials, Mode/Preset selector and power button.

The sound quality was pretty nice and robust. Crank up the volume and explosions and gun fire sound pretty beefy and has just enough bass in them. On full blast, the sound isn’t too loud however it provides just enough immersion in the game for a good experience. The chat quality was very good. Chatting with my teammates, they stated my voice came through loud and clear which was great. The main issue I had with the chat is the feedback you hear through your headset. There was a bit of hissing coming through the headset. The louder you raise the chat volume, the more hissing you get. With other headsets, you can hear your own voice crystal clear without any lag or anything. With this headset, your voice sounds like it’s coming from a tin can. It’s somewhat distracting since all the other sounds come through clear. Your own voice sounds like the mic is on the other side of the room. It’s sounds very distant and faint but still kind of distracting. Aside from this, the headset is really nice. Sound is pretty clear and the fit is mostly good for this headset.

Battery wise, this headset has a pretty good charge time. I played 4-5 hours for 4 days and didn’t need to recharge. Having a USB-C connection, this charges up pretty quickly as well.

Overall, this is a pretty good headset. The chat feedback/hissing is an issue for me. Had this not been an issue, this would be a really great headset for the price. The lightweight headset and easy connection make it a really nice travel or backup headset. If you’re a casual player, this should be a nice headset for you. For serious gamers, I think you’d prefer one of the higher end headsets over this one. This would be a great pickup if you can get it on sale or on Black Friday or something.

    Classy Looks and Good Performance

Given the name it makes sense that the Stealth 600 doesn’t look like a typical gamer headset. Its looks are understated. There’s no RGB or aggressive styling demanding your attention. Just a lot of matte white surfaces and a few gunmetal accents. But don’t let that fool you. Turtle Beach has clearly put a lot of thought into trying to make this your go-to headset on the PS4 (and the upcoming PS5.)

I’ve found a lot to like about the gear in the time I’ve spent with it so far beyond the design. While it’s pretty much all plastic the fit and finish is good enough to make it feel like a more premium device. The hinges around the ear cups are tight, the size adjustment is just stiff enough to hold its place without requiring you to force it, and it offers excellent noise isolation even when wearing it with glasses. They even thought to use a USB-C charging plug rather than the aging micro-USB most manufacturers seem to still be clinging to, so I don’t need to bother keeping a spare charger by the couch just for my headset anymore. I’d rate the sound quality as very good. An audiophile probably isn’t going to be impressed, but it’s as good as it needs to be for games and voice chat. Frequency response is good at both ends of the spectrum, and unlike a lot of cheaper headsets it won’t try to drown you in bass. You’ve got five built in options for tuning it as well – four equalizer settings and a “superhuman” setting which will try to enhance environmental audio cues like footsteps to give you a leg up. On the transmit side, I’d rate the mic as above average for gaming headsets, which is basically a polite way of saying it’s good enough. I wouldn’t want to run a stream with it as my only audio, but the people on the other side will have no difficulty understanding what you’re saying. And as a bonus, I can confirm that if you plug the dongle into your PC or phone it works there too, albeit support for features like software volume controls seems hit or miss. I certainly wouldn’t recommend buying it if you don’t have a PlayStation, but it’s still nice to know that if you (like me) game on multiple devices you don’t necessarily need to worry about having to buy a separate headset for each one. One additional note for anyone thinking about using it on Discord: when I tried it out during my weekly quarantine gaming night the Windows client was dropping audio constantly until I set a manual activation threshold and turned off echo cancellation.

There are a few things that keep me from giving it a full five stars, however. First up is the control layout. There are two volume wheels located near the top of the left ear cup. One controls the headset volume, the other acts as a monitor for your own mic. They have the same texturing on the wheels, and are close enough together that even if you don’t mix up which one is which with your thumb it’s easy to accidentally nudge the wrong one while making adjustments. I found myself having to pay a lot more attention to what I was doing when adjusting my volume than I do with other headsets, which isn’t an ideal outcome for a product geared towards multiplayer gaming. Along similar lines to this is the fact that switching between the different audio modes only offers a series of beep codes as feedback rather than the verbal descriptions you get from a lot of wireless headsets these days, requiring you to memorize a chart to know what you’ve just done. Finally, though I’m guessing most have already guessed this after I mentioned the noise isolation, it has to be said that the ear cups are an absolute heat trap. It only took a few minutes after putting it on before my ears became noticeably warm. If you run hot or are just particularly temperature sensitive, I’m not sure how comfortable you’d be wearing this thing for a prolonged gaming session.

High End Headset at a Low End Price

I own a lot of headsets for every console and PC. I own so many that it's become a point of contention with my wife, so when I give this Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 for PS4/PS5/Switch/PC five stars I truly believe it deserves it. I also happen to own a first generation Stealth 600 and Turtle Beach has outdone themselves with this redesign. Let's get to it.

I'll be reviewing the headset as used on a PS4 Pro, so first thing's first, the USB dongle is tiny! This is much improved over other headsets on the market and the only drawback is that it might be easily lost. Once you plug in the dongle the headset will automatically pair up and you're good to go. There isn't any set up involved with this headset, unless you include connecting to it to a PC and checking for updates with the Turtle Beach app. As of this review there were no new firmware versions for this Gen 2 headset, but I find it pretty inconvenient to have to plug in a console headset to a PC in order to get a firmware update.

The Stealth 600 is super comfortable and is way more comfortable than the previous iteration of this headset. The ear pads have been redesigned to fit better over your ears, the headset is super light and it just feels much better built than the original Stealth 600's that I own. Ear pads are foam covered in a soft fabric that didn't get sweaty even after hours of use. Battery life for this headset is rated at about 20 hours and I played for about 22 before my first charge, so I think that is pretty accurate.

The sound is pretty great for a headset in this price range. Vocals come in clearly, mid and lows are nice and highs are fine until you turn it up too loud or turn on TB's "Super Human Hearing" which is used to amplify all sounds for competitive gaming or to induce headaches. My only complaint would be that other headphones do tend to sound a little richer, but they are also price well above this price.

The microphone is superb on these. I've had no issues yelling at my friends to get out of the way while playing Fall Guys. They hear me just fine and I hear their cursing coming in clear as day. I have no issues with the microphone and enjoy that it folds into the unit unlike the generation 1 microphone boom that just kinda stuck out there awkwardly. Flip up to mute is a fantastic and natural option, all headsets should have this feature.

Build quality and construction has been upgraded since the original version. The headband feels sturdier, the connection points more robust and the plastic casing doesn't creak like in my gen 1 headset. Overall I'd say that this headset is one of the better built one's I've used, even with the exception of a metal headband (you'll have to upgrade to the Stealth 700 for that). I see these lasting a good long while if you take care of them like the responsible person I know you are.

So here's my quick pros and cons list for those that don't like to read.

    Clear mic

    Small dongle

    Good build quality

    20 hour battery life

    Good sound quality

    Audio quality could be richer

    No metal reinforced headband

All things considering, even with the cons listed below, considering the price point of the Stealth 600 Gen 2, I have to give this headset 5 stars. It's a fantastic value for a true wireless headset with multiple system compatibility, good sound and a comfortable fit (even for big headed people like myself). If this unit were $50 more then it would fall in line with some stiff competition and my rating might change, but as of now this headset is my mid-range wireless pick for console and PC gamers alike

Great headset for PS4, Switch, and future PS5 use

Turtle Beach is beginning to deliver a wave of headsets that are geared for the upcoming release of next-gen consoles, while maintaining backwards compatibility with current generations. This is the case with the PS4 version of the Stealth headset; which is not only compatible with Mac/PC, the Nintendo’s Switch console (more on that in a minute), but is also compatible with the upcoming Playstation 5.

In the box you’ll find a white headset in a plastic bag (thank you for not covering this in peel layers), a short USB C charging cable, the dongle, and a small folder with the manuals & warranty cards. The box even has a piece of fabric attached on the top, making opening of the box really easy. The quick start guide included in the documents folder make understanding the features easy! You’ll also see something about “Superhuman hearing” mentioned on the marketing materials, and a long charge claim of 15 hours.

Plugging this into the Playstation 4, the dongle was immediately recognized, and with the headset powered on, took only seconds to pair. The only annoying part of the dongle, is the small LED status light; which has a soft blink that can be a bit distracting in a dark room play scenario. Thankfully, I was able to move it to the back USB port, to avoid the distraction during longer gaming sessions without any loss in function or connectivity.

The headset if fairly lightweight, making this easy to wear during prolonged gaming use, and the battery, in fact, did last about 14 hours before I needed to charge it again. The foam used on the headset is really soft, the ear phones on each side are easily tilted to provide better comfort & fit. They also do give way easily to glasses, as I wear blue blocking glasses to prevent eye strain, and never once felt like they were being pressed against my head. While these aren’t noise cancelling, you’ll get a bit of a passive effect here, as you put them on. There is just enough external noise for you to hear someone calling to you, or speaking in your general area.

The included microphone quickly snaps back out of the way, and mutes the mic, or with mic monitoring turned up, allows you to monitor your voice during chat. It also makes for easy listening of the environment around your home or play area. This is honestly an unadvertised benefit of the mic monitoring feature; especially if you have kids and want to hear them call you across the house. I should point out that the mic monitoring volume doesn’t adjust the console’s chat volume, only your ability to hear yourself speak. The volume rocker, on the other hand, will adjust volume locally on your headset. Keep this in mind if you think it’s too low when turned all the way up. You can adjust the actual game audio within the volume settings on the console. I turned mine all the way up, and just used the volume on the headset with no noticeable loss in audio quality. You’ll also want to consider if you want audio output to a speaker system while playing, as the headphones will muffle out lower volumes. This is either a “Chat Only” or “All Game Audio” kind of headset, as this one lacks a TOSLINK/Optical connection to maintain separation of audio. If you set to “Chat only” that’s all the headset will provide, with game audio continuing on your external speakers. If set to all game audio, it will cut off any external audio over HDMI. I should note, the audio can be adjusted either in the game, or with the console settings if one is too loud for you.

Game chat was very effective during a round of Rainbow Six. My fellow gamers were able to hear me clearly, and the mic monitoring ensured that I was speaking clearly. However, the headset isn’t adjustable like others, it sits stationary when pulled down. This isn’t a con at all, as the microphone does a really great job picking up audio. Players might even hear some background noise in your house, so the adjustable (flexible) microphone won’t be needed. You’ll hear an audible clicking noise when the microphone is pulled down, or pushed up when muted. So you won’t need to guess if people can hear you.

The included USB C cable makes plugging in for charging with the console or an adapter easy, without a bunch of cable needing to be wound up after gaming. Nintendo Switch compatibility requires the dock with an available USB port for the dongle, and the switch in “dock mode”. It will work wirelessly, but will not work with Switch “Lite” models, since they lack the ability to dock or have any external USB devices connected. In my testing with an original Nintendo Switch, it didn’t require any additional setup, and was just plug and play.

I do want to call out the “Superhuman Hearing” feature included with the headset. It’s easy to toggle (simply tap once on the power button), and when enabled does a great job of amplifying the sounds in the game. While playing “Last of Us 2” this was extremely helpful in-game while sneaking around infected, and listening for movement. I also have a bit of hearing loss in one ear due to a military injury, so I usually have to turn volume all the way up to hear 360 sound. This eliminated that need for me, and the directional audio was excellent during gaming; allowing me to pinpoint movement in specific directions. Anytime I needed it, it was just a tap away and you’ll notice the sound amplification almost immediately! This is probably my favorite feature on the headset! It’s also not so overpowering that you’ll feel the need to turn it off, or change the volume.

The included EQ settings can be toggled using the “Mode” button on the headset. It provides a “signature” EQ setting, followed by Bass and Treble boosts, along with a “vocal” eq which works great for cinematic with a lot of ambient background noise. The bass boost is what I used frequently, and was pleasantly surprised with how great it sounded. It easily matched the audio of another much higher priced premium pair that includes a mixer. As with other features on the headset, you’ll hear a light tone for each setting you turn on. The EQ just adds extra tones for each EQ, until you go back to default; all of which work great!

Overall, Turtle Beach really delivered on the Stealth headset! The price point is lower than other premium sets, and the features made gaming much more engaging (superhuman hearing is excellent). I can’t recommend this enough for PS4 and future PS5 owners!

    Best Buy Tech Insider Network

My Primary use for these headphones is gaming on PS/4. Wireless connectivity is nice. Sound quality is perfectly good. (These are not $1000 audiophile headphones). Bass is good, speech is clear. The other person can hear me just fine even in loud environment. If you want a good all-around performer without breaking the bank this is a good option. I tested the TURTLE BEACH STEALTH 600 GEN 2 FOR PLAYSTATION on the Switch, PS4, and PC. I also like that they are “glasses friendly”. Controls are easy to use for both the Headphone Volume and Mic Volume (feedback). I really like the flip up mic that acts as mute.

    UNBOXING: (see picture)

They are well packaged and while they don’t scream luxury they also don’t scream cheap. I don’t expect them to fall apart anytime soon like less expensive headsets might.

It took some fussing on the PS4 to get them to work. I forgot to take screen shots, but although the instructions say just go to audio settings and make this these are default. You also have to scroll down to the bottom of the screen to select “send all sounds to headset”. The switch worked no fussing. The PC worked no fussing (plug and play).

This is not going to replace your best audio headphones that you use while listing to music. But they do a good job. I’m listening to “The Wall” while I write this. Everything is clear. They are a little bass forward, but for gaming that is perfectly fine. If my favorite audio only headphones are “9/10”, then these are “7.5/10”. Considering they are also wireless that is pretty darn good in my opinion. (My other headphones are wired).

For gaming, I can only compare them to my other XBOX headphones which happen to be from another vendor and cost about 50% more. These are lighter, these have better (easier) controls, and the other pair is wired instead of wireless, which makes these easier to use while gaming. The audio is a touch better on my XBOX headphones (maybe 8/10).

    Flip up Mic = Mute

Analog dials for volume and mic feedback adjustment

    Friendly to Eyeglass Wearers

I would recommend these to anyone looking for a good to very good wireless headphone experience for PS4/SWITCH/PC. If you are really picky about the best audio experience over wireless convenience, you might want to look for a higher end headset, but it will set up back 2x-3x more.

The TURTLE BEACH STEALTH 600 GEN 2 FOR PLAYSTATION strikes a good balance between performance, features, and value.

When my son opened the box, the headset inside was used and dirty. I was disappointed and frustrated that my 10 yr old had to open this on Christmas morning. How do you explain a used item from Santa. I’m so upset. This was bad customer service from either Best Buy or Turtle for not checking their stocked items to make sure the items are new and not tampered with.

I will be returning to store.

    Teenage Girl Testing Team Seal-of-Approval

Turtle Beach® Stealth™ 600 Gen 2 wireless gaming headset for the PS4 and upcoming PS5 (and Nintendo Switch)

I decided to enlist some young family members (15 y/o girls) to weigh in on how successful this new Turtle Beach headphone was at entertaining our gamers. Game play predominantly used “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” and “Mario Cart-8 Deluxe” on the Nintendo Switch and Gravity Rush 2, Minecraft, and a shark game for the PS4 (Pro). So, after a few hours of play here’s what we learned.

SETUP: According to the players, who set up everything on their own, these Turtle 600s have a nice sleek look to them out of the box, and that microphone was really neat. There was some concern about how rugged those ear “shells’” are. I’m betting they’ll tolerate some rough play, but could look scruffy over time.

The USB C charging cable is welcome (and easy to replace). Connecting to the PS4 is really fuss-free. Don’t lose that “dongle” which is necessary to connect to your PS4. Sound can be modified using the mode button.

They added, “The instructions could be clearer. (While) the instructions that came with headphones were specifically made for the PS4.. . . the box says that it is compatible with the Nintendo switch. Since it works with the Nintendo switch, there should be a more complete instructions explaining how to connect it to the Switch.” And, yet, game play was underway after some connection frustration and continued for hours.

HOW DO THEY PERFORM and FEEL? The verdict from my teenage assistants matched my own: “The over ear headphone cushions are soft and comfortable with nice feel, especially for players like me who will play for hours in one sitting, … (and wear glasses)."

“The audio is clear. I did like that (the snug ear pads) blocked out most of the noises that didn’t come from my games.”

“They are a little heavy on the head.”

“I had a strong connection to my console with the headphones on up to 30 feet. After 30 feet the connection was crummy.”

“The things that I did like the most of these head phones were the controls on the side that allow you to change the volume, the over the ear cushions and the top of the head cushion and that you are able to talk to other players through the built in microphone (which I was not able to test).” They can get loud.

Play time from a full charge is unusually lengthy, looking like it’ll go for days considering the way we play, easily between12-15 continuous use hours.

The array of controls on the left ear shell is really busy, including microphone volume control, overall volume, mode switch, and power all under where the hand falls, even when simply putting the headphones on. And, yet, it’s easy enough to figure out where everything is because Turtle Beach didn’t try to be subtle about switch control height or size. We’re here, we’re obvious, and you’ll figure it out. Yep. They’re right.

I was able to spend some time listening for myself and testing still other features with some undocumented use.

[ Surprise hidden feature: Nowhere in the descriptions or instructions is any mention made of a Mac computer compatibility. So, this isn’t a recommendation, just an observation from a guy who likes to experiment. Plugging that Turtle “dongle” into my USB accessory device of my MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019) and I was able to have my Mac recognize the Turtle Headphones. My “SOUND” settings show the Turtle dongle and I selected it for INPUT and OUTPUT. I now have Al Green crooning and Sade delivering some nice tunes. (Yes, I’m old.) I could cycle through the sound modes, but it was never apparent if I was changing anything. (But, remember, it’s not a supported device.) Really detailed; nice satisfying bass and a sound that is very appealing. The voice region stood out and was super clear. it’s easy to understand why this should meet the needs of gamers.

I even made a FaceTime call! I had a great conversation; the microphone was working exactly as designed . . . Go figure. My voice was exceptionally clear according to my wife at the other end of the call, and her voice was easy to hear for me. All volume controls worked perfectly as did the mute feature. I offer these observations as a test of the usefulness of the microphone as well as the clarity and quality of the headphones. Again, these are undocumented features. ]

RECOMMENDATION: My teenage girl testing team had a positive reaction to these nicely featured gaming headphones. These headphones make it comfortable and convenient. My time using the microphone for conversations and listening to non-gaming programming like music reveal that these are unusually high quality, nice sounding gaming headphones. Turtle Beach doesn’t short-change gamers in the listening quality department. Recommended.

    Arctis 3 Review.

TL;DR: The Arctis 3 is a very comfortable and clean-looking headset which sounds great.

It sounded amazing from games like Minecraft to Call of Duty. The footsteps were very clear in both games, and the gunshots and explosions were nice and boomy in Call of Duty.

The ski headband on this headset is different, but very comfortable if you can find the perfect adjustment on it. The earcups are nice and soft too. No complaints in the comfort part.

The mic sounds great from the feedback I've gotten from my friends, and from the sound tests I've done.

Overall, the Arctis 3 headset is amazing for the price, and would recommend to everyone.

Comfortable, but not designed for console gaming

I have rated the Razer Kraken as 3 stars because many of the advertised features only function when used for PC Gaming. Be aware that the USB Audio Controller is NOT used with the Xbox, Playstation, or Nintendo Switch. Instead of using the wired remote, the headset will simply plug into your controller using a standard 3.5 mm plug. If you are not purchasing this headset for use with PC Gaming, then I feel as though you are being overcharged as you are paying for features and a remote that you will not be able to utilize. In my opinion, the USB Audio Controller should be sold separately (so that those purchasing for console use aren’t charged for something they can’t use).

To be fair, gaming on a home console is still a good experience when using the Kraken – due primarily to comfort. The headset is light, has quality padding on the head band, and does not squeeze to tightly against your head. The microphone is retractable and does a great job of picking up your voice once you bend the mic to the correct position. (Note, the microphone also picks up on much of the ambient noise in your room as well.) The ear-cups are over sized and comfortable even for those who need to wear glasses while gaming. The ear cushions are made out of a cooling-gel that truly works. When you first put the headphones on, the cushions actually feel cool and while that cooling sensation fades after a while, the headset can be worn for many hours without becoming hot or sweaty. I also appreciate that the material that touches your ear is a soft & stretchy material that will not someday crack and flake like the fake leather used on most headsets.

The audio quality is just slightly above average. Bass & Treble are both quite good, but will definitely not blow you away. And again, if you are not connected to a PC, you will not be able to use any of the advance audio features. No customized audio settings, no bass boost, no special THX audio. Because the ear-cups are so large – a fair amount of audio leaks out and can be heard by those sitting hear you. They also do not do a great job of muffling out surrounding noise.

    Comfortable Gaming/Media Headset

These headphones are pretty decent. The build quality is good and it is very light weight. This works well with the comfort level as wearing these headphones for 2+ hours was a breeze with no strain on ears or surrounding areas on your head. The ear-cup cushions are very soft and I didn’t find much heat build up around ears at anytime when I used them. The sound quality on these are similar if not better to other gaming headsets I’ve tried such as, the Turtle Beach Recon and HyperX. I used this both on a PS4 and on PC and there were no issues using it on either. I give this headset two thumbs up on spatial audio, that impressed me more than I thought it would. I like that the mic is retractable and according to my friends my voice came through clearly from their end, so no complaints there.

The only issues I encountered were that the mic is so good that it easily picks up everything in my background that might be annoying to those that I am in chat with online and slider for controlling the volume levels is so easy to turn that sometimes it turns it up/down during use.

As an average gamer myself I definitely suggest this headset to other gamers, you’ll enjoy this.

    Good, but not tournament quality

    Affordable price versus feature set

    Solid build

Compatible with PCs, mobile, as well as consoles

    THX Spatial Audio support

MIC is neatly hidden until needed

    Lightweight aluminum frame

    Dialog is very clear

Thick headband cushion helps extended gameplay comfort

    Long cord

Headband isn’t as comfortable for larger heads

Dual volume controls can be confusing

Red light on for mute and no light for chat is confusing

THX is only available via PC

No adjustments are available when attached to consoles

Spatial audio isn’t as precise as some others

Dynamic range of speakers is limited and sounds weak

USB audio is sometimes choppy with no CPU load

    No storage case or pouch

Cord organizers don’t attach to anything and can be easily lost

Good audio can be what makes good gameplay great. Most gamers appreciate a sharp, fast responding screen, fast GPU, and responsive keyboard and mouse. Not all realize how much more immersive a game can be when the sound environment not only has good range to produce the sounds but can also place the sound in the game. Hearing a growling or footsteps behind you and knowing which direction it is coming from really adds realism to the game. The Razer Kraken Tournament Edition is of the latest gaming headsets from Razer that attempts to crack the code of good gaming audio.

The Kraken Tournament Edition is surprisingly understated for a Razer product. It has no bright colors, flashing lights, or green serpent logo. The headset is completely blacked out in flat black everywhere except the logo which is more of a gloss black. Construction feels sturdy with a build of aluminum, plastic, breathable fabric, and faux leather. Weight is appropriately heavy without being uncomfortable. The audio cable is wrapped in braided cloth to increase durability. The integrated mic can be retracted back into the headset when not in use for easy storage with no worry of misplacing it. The mic extends far enough to have good placement for clear chat. Although mic has a storage place, the USB adapter does not. Cord organizers are included but they don’t attach to the cables, so you are going to have to remember not to forget them. There is no included storage case or bag. The earpads are an over the ear design with thick, breathable pads to help reduce fatigue from extended use. The headband is similarly heavily padded with breathable cloth to keep the headset comfortable. The design places light pressure on the head to keep them in place firmly without pain. That said, if you have a larger head this design might become uncomfortable sooner as the headband can feel a bit hard after a while the pressure may become slightly uncomfortable. By the time this happens, you might be in a break as your whole body might be feeling the effects. Included in the package is a USB adapter with THX Spatial Audio. Although the mini stereo and USB adapters provide maximum compatibility with any PC, tablet, phone, or gaming console the advanced features only work with the USB connection via PC drivers. On any other device, they work as standard headphones.

Of course, for the price point you want to keep your expectations in line, but you would hope for decent audio range and good music quality. Unfortunately, music is a weak spot of the Kraken Tournament Edition. Connected via the stereo jack the audio quality is muddy as if being heard through a wall. Highs are audible but sound harsh, bass is present but weak, and mids are all but absent. It’s apparent that Razer wasn’t focusing this headset on people who also wanted to use them for casual music sessions. In gameplay things improve. The focus on sharp highs means that sounds such as footsteps, breaking branches, screeching tires, and gunfire have increased emphasis allowing quicker directional placement. Spatial placement of sounds is good but not as precise, possibly because of the muddy aspect, although some report better results with different games. When connected via USB with THX Spatial Audio on, the audio would be slightly choppy with low CPU and GPU load. When turned off, the audio was clear. Hopefully this is just a driver issue which Razer will improve in the future. Besides gaining THX Spatial Audio when connected via USB you also gain an equalizer and a control box inline to adjust volume, bass level, turn THX Spatial Audio on or off, and mute the mike. Strangely this design also means when the USB adapter is connected you will have two volume controls and two mic buttons inline. Although, it seems the one higher up on the cord is disabled when connected via USB. The control box indicates THX on with a green light and off with no light. Strangely the mic is on when it’s lite is off and is muted when the light is red. This seems a bit counter intuitive. It should turn on when it’s on or off when off or at least make it where green means on and red means muted. The Razer Synapse drivers for PC allow EQ adjustments, adjustments to sound normalization and voice clarity, and mic adjustments including ambient noise reduction. If you are looking for a lot of adjustments or THX Spatial Audio for consoles, you are out of luck. Most advanced features require more support than consoles provide. So far mic quality has been reported as good with good clarity and with adjustments to position are easy with the flexible shaft which moves easily and stays where you put it.

Razer can sometimes be a polarizing company in gaming but if you are fan of their products you will find the same design language you know already and enjoy. There are some quirks, like the choppy audio in Spatial Audio mode which hopefully can be fixed via updates, but overall the build quality feels solid. One might be led to criticize them harshly for not having stellar audio quality but for the price point, the audio quality is on par if not a standout. Razer products also periodically go on sale which makes the purchase more competitive. The Razer Kraken Tournament Edition headphones may not win any converts but will likely satisfy the fans, particularly ones who can’t spend a fortune.

Nice addition to my custom end table.

I love the light weight and flip up mute and of course the sound is awesome. I do wish it had a wireless charging system (cradle). I’m concerned the plug for charging will wear out and it is hard to hook up in dim light.

Razer - Kraken Tournament Wired headset

I have used several different headsets in the past. This one is very comfortable and the sound quality is excellent. It even comes with a separate bass adjustment tool so you can customize the sound to your specific needs. The mic on the headset is also very nice and the sound quality it very clear.

    Almost Perfect

SteelSeries really went for it at $100 to offer HiRes sound (according to them) at an affordable price point. In many ways, they did a good job, but it's not perfectly executed across the board. As a quick note - the Arctis Prime uses the same drivers as the Arctis Pro (a $170 wired headset). The Prime lacks RGB, the athletic mesh earcup fabric, and the USB DAC that has a chat/game mix. This was not sent to me for review, I purchased this (like many other headsets I test). So, with that being said…

SOUND QUALITY for Music - Starting with Music, it does an admirable job but has some faults. The bass output isn't really flat, with some notes hitting harder than others. I wish it had more sub bass (below 30 Hz) but overall the headset is still incredibly clear sounding. I think Rock exposes this headset’s weakness the most where there mid-range guitars don't quite "ring" as hard as a music-focused headset. It's certainly an enjoyable headset for music, but not class leading at this price (HyperX CloudX has better music performance.) I still enjoyed listening to music on these, as the sound stage is very open and wide.

SOUND QUALITY for Gaming - This is where SteelSeries focus shows. While having some issues in music performance, these things absolutely crush it with game performance. For competitive players, I haven't tested a headset that gives you more positional awareness at the $100 price point. It’s truly remarkable, even with a straight connection to a controller or PC without using something like Atmos. The game performance is phenomenal with just the right mix of bass, mids, and highs that don’t overpower each other. These have a very open sound stage, with lots of detail without being too sharp or harsh sounding (like the Arctis 7X).

MIC Quality – It has a higher mic sensitivity rating than the HyperX Cloud (by only 1dB), and higher sensitivity than new Recon 500, and BlackShark V2. Overall the mic quality is above average. It has good clarity and detail, and surprisingly strong background noise rejection considering it's a passive headset. The low bass is a little lacking but for chat it's fine (Recon 500 mic has more bass). The foam sock is a nice add, as it helps reduce wind and breathing noise into the mic.

Comfort - Clamp force is a little higher than average, like all Arctis headsets using the Ski-Goggle style headband. The leatherette ear pads are nice and create a good seal around the ear but don't breathe as well as some other options. The Recon 500 is more comfortable for long gaming sessions, as it has a much lighter clamp force and uses athletic mesh fabric ear pads which breathes really well. The HyperX CloudX uses a similar ear cup shape and material as the Prime, but has a lighter clamp force. Lastly, although the Arctis ear cups rotate flat to lay around your neck, the clamp force is too strong for this and puts a lot of pressure on your neck (like a weak strangle-hold on your neck).

Controls/Features - This is a big callout for me because I cannot stand in-line volume controls (cough, HyperX CloudX). The volume wheel on the left ear cup is amazing, with a smooth, high quality feel. No static sounds when adjusting volume. The mic mute is a push button right above the volume wheel that works well enough for its purpose. The Arctis Prime uses a rubber cable which is proprietary but detachable. A lot of people like braided cables but rubber is much quieter (no noise transferring into the ear cup as it brushes against you).

Overall, this is an amazing headset. The Turtle Beach Recon 500 has a much softer/smoother sound profile, so if you like a more laid back sound, consider those. The HyperX CloudX sounds incredibly close to the Arctis Prime and is $30 less expensive, so you could argue that it’s a better value headset. If having a real volume and mic control is important to you, and you like the SteelSeries design, then I would consider the Arctis Primes. I like having a real volume and mic control enough that I could easily justify the $30 price premium over the CloudX. Lastly, the Arctis Prime includes a 5’ Y-Adapter so you can connect this to a desktop or sound card that uses a separate headphone and mic jack, should your machine not have a combo port. Overall it’s a solid buy and easy to recommend for gamers looking for an edge on a budget!

Awesome sound but DIY on the audio settings

I had the SSAP Pro Wireless before, and the sound was the best I've ever had in a gaming heatset. It has one critical flaw that this headset shares -- the connection from the band to the earcup is very prone to cracking/breaking over time. If you take these off one handed a lot it will strain that spot and eventually get a crack that will get worse until it snaps off completely.

With that said I loved the sound so much that I got this pair because they have the same exact drivers, but this is standard audio not USB or wireless. I just attach them to my Logitech mic and then use the same equalizer settings. It's worth the value if you already have sound setup and don't need a USB DAC or otherwise.

Gets the job done for most users.

Gets the job done but doesn't meet my needs for professional grade. Then again, this was purchased to be a tool to use for distance-learning classes and it fills the need just fine.

Other than I'm not happy with the overall sound quality, do keep in mind I am an audio professional and am very picky about audio quality.

This does lack silly features like color/LED garbage. Straight forward, to the point, rather comfortbale and the collapsing mic makes put-away nicer. Detachable cable packs nice. 2-piece main cable gives loads of options.

Lost stars due to limited functionality, at least for me. Completely unsuitable for critical listening at least for me. Not suitable for mixing. Not suitable for live. I'm not gamer, so no comment on there but if being super accurate is your thing, these won't work. If being audible/intelligible is your thing, they'll suffice. For the distance learning stuff I am doing, I can only wear these cans for about 90 minutes before the quality gets to me and I gotta go take them off for a while. Then again, I really can't wear any cans for that long anyways as I don't like to regardless of brand or quality.

Feels durable but will it stand the test of time? The first point of failure I see is the cable connection at the headphones. By not opting to use a standard 3.5mm TRRS port, once this breaks, these are garbage. Never been a supporter of proprietary ports that add cost and don't add value.

    Great sound terrible mic

Gameplay sounds amazing. Mic is terrible for some reason. You basically have to have the mic in your mouth and be yelling for the xbox to register any input from you. Im using this on a xbox 1x. Returned it already the mic was definitely a deal breaker

Received them today and have been playing around for a few hours.

    1) sound is amazing. Well tuned with good bass response and surprising highs. I was amazed because it's sharper than QC35 & QC25.

    2) zero software configuration! So far I haven't installed any program/app. I'll install it on Windows only for the surround effect during gaming. Works on Linux; plug-n-play.

    3) connections!! I'm currently connected via Bluetooth to phone, wired USB to PC (to charge + play audio), and USB dongle (wireless) to the same PC. I can hear both sounds on my phone and PC at the same time. You can also use a 3.5mm audio cable.

    4) you can charge + listen ... take that QC35!

    5) noise canceling is good. Pretty close to QC25 & QC35 but they don't alter the sound! Bass response is higher with ANC as usual but the rest is unchanged.

    6) comfortable and replaceable ear pads. The ones it comes with are comfortable, nicely shaped, and have some noise isolation. But a better pair should block out even more sound so I'm going to replace them soon.

    7) mic works fine, no issues.

    8) a soothing voice announces current connections + battery level.
