Listen to your favorite tunes with this Sharp portable Bluetooth boombox speaker. It delivers powerful high-performance audio at 100W RMS, and it uses bass boost technology to amp up the beats. This Sharp portable Bluetooth boombox speaker includes a guitar jack and mic terminal, and its USB input lets you connect a variety of mobile devices.
I bought this to use on my rooftop patio. The base is loud and overall it has enough power even outdoors to hear the music well. I was using multi room wireless speakers prior and they just did not offer enough headroom to get the music loud on the patio. The does well. It also looks cool.
Jun 30, 2020 22:58Awesome boombox! The item that I received is what I really expected. It is in good perfect condition and so far, it’s working fine. Best Buy’s order tracking is very helpful, convenient and efficient.
Jun 18, 2020 13:20After a ton of research, I decided on this unit for use around our pool. Couldn’t be happier!!
Dec 04, 2020 15:37I recommend this boom box to everyone it the best I’ve ever had!
Jul 31, 2021 22:39Good boomboxes vs. Others for the same money. Got it on sale so it makes up for the little things I don't like. When radio is playing can't tell the difference between xbass on or off. If you like the highs this is not for you. Heavy but end speakers are well protected I gave it 5 stars because I got it on sale otherwise 4 stars.
Jul 24, 2020 17:07I was really impressed with this boombox...goes really loud and lots of bass!!! You can taylor the sound even more with your phone thru bluetooth. I use it exercising and also for playing guitar.....I like it alot:-D
Jun 19, 2020 20:22I love this boom box because the sounds is great , bass is really good to hear , my flour and wall trembling when I play soft or loud music !!!
Jun 19, 2020 21:45Good garage radio. Blue tooth works great and all my radio stations come in. Plenty of power. Sounds good at full volume.
Jul 03, 2020 16:10Keep your music blaring with this Studebaker Master Blaster Bluetooth boom box. Jan 26, 2021 12:23The sound is not bad at all for this size of Boombox, and have all the convenience features, I love it.
Aug 12, 2019 10:13I've read the past reviews, and took the risk purchasing through Deal of the Day. I will tell you I have people offering the full price if I would sell it to them. Needless to say, I've kept it and continue to enjoy this flashback boombox. Although not the quality of sound like the new generation of systems like Bose, Sony, and other brands of the like, the sound quality is pretty good. Obviously, the quality of digital music nowadays is a lot higher, so it is a step up from the analog music played through the original boomboxes.
Overall quality is fairly good. The knobs are cheap plastic, and not the quality as found on the original boomboxes, but if you can look past it, you will enjoy. The only thing I would've appreciated would be having the VU meters rather than the light show, like the ones installed on the JVC and Panasonic boomboxes of yesteryear that I owned as a teenager.
Overall, I am enjoying the boombox, and further enjoy the reaction people have when they hear it playing "old school" rock and R&B.
May 10, 2019 16:16The Bestbuy on site specs read: Cassette Player yes. This was a gift for an OG with a large cassette collection. This does not have a built in cassette player. You could hook one to it, but no. It looked cool and fun with the disco lights but I had to return it.
Jul 20, 2019 15:21It was nice to find a modern version of a "retro" boombox like in the 1980's, that plays CD'S and
is up to date to play MP3's with a USB Flashdrive
input and bluetooth too from an external music
player, as I can from my smartphone.
The digital aspects, in red, are useful for showing
the mode chosen, etc. The Peak Sound displays
and blue backlights on the speakers are colorful.
However, the Peak Sound levels are quite sensitive
to the recorded levels, and they reach peak easily.
The Bass and Treble tone controls are helpful.
The AM and FM reception are moderate in their sensitivity, failing to pick up and separate weaker
AM stations, and FM Stereo reception requires a
fairly strong signal. It would be nice to have these
Frequencies in a digital readout, which have been
available for over 30 years.
There are not any recording capabilities such as to
CD's not Flashdrives, which would be nice, but
probably at a greater cost.
So far the internal rechargeable battery seems to
power the unit well.
Jun 14, 2019 16:45Your technician Brian Herring was a vey polite and knowledgeable man. He hooked up my home theatre system right down to the very last wire. He talked about what he was doing it , just to clear up any question od doubt I may have had. If I ever should need a Technician for anything again, I'll request Brian . Good man!
Apr 26, 2021 09:21It has a built in rechargeable battery, very loud speakers, Bluetooth, CD and an AM/FM radio. Great for the beach, or the outdoors.
Aug 09, 2019 16:53I like it mostly for the CD player. I have to have it close to a window to pick up clear stations, even with the antennae fully extended.
Sep 05, 2020 12:07With a Bluetooth 2.1 interface and NFC (near-field communication) technology, this Sony ZSRS60BT boombox allows you to stream music from your compatible audio device. A top-loading CD player enables you to play back disc media.
I use this Sony CD Boombox with my noise canceling headphones in the evenings. (I have never tried it for local radio stations.). I love the mega bass option. The CDs are easy to load in the top. It works so well for my purposes that I bought a second one.
Jun 15, 2019 19:58Plays CDs and radio
I have it above my desk.
I liked it so much I bought another one for my girlfriend.
May 22, 2020 20:59This is the one !
You can Bluetooth and stream.. Also preset radio stationsas well as play CDs it's portable and has an easy handle to tote around..
Aug 20, 2016 21:23Perfect for the kitchen!!!! I also play my CD to practice the piano... It has perfect bass tone and I can preset my favourite stations
Feb 12, 2016 17:45My Sony Boom Box is a good brand of radio. Sony brand is lasting . Most of my electronics are made from Sony. Very reliable and lasting.
Sep 06, 2016 16:49It's ok for using in a dome. I used to have a super woofer surround sound system. This one sounds like a regular radio. I can't hear all the instruments sound. It may be good for apartment living as you don't want your neighbors complain noise. I am to check out an upgrade at Best buy.
Aug 27, 2021 20:47Bluetooth don't have reception from another device and poor volume.
Oct 17, 2015 07:11Decent sound quality, easy to use, cost is reasonable
Nov 28, 2018 18:13Stay informed during emergencies with this Sony portable pocket radio. It uses two AA batteries to provide up to 100 hours of listening, and it has a built-in AM/FM tuner for entertainment as you travel. An integrated hand strap and headphone socket on this Sony portable pocket radio let you use it anywhere.
This radio is just fantastic!
It's a throwback to yesteryear!
I had a transistor radio hanging from the handlebars of my bicycle years ago ... This is excatly that! Durable, sufficient, reliable, fun ❤️
Jun 18, 2021 17:12Bought it when hurricane Irma was coming. Great after power & phone service outage during the hurricane. kept me informed all night. Literally a life saver
Sep 30, 2017 07:26Small but packs a punch. Don't have to run my phone down .
May 16, 2020 09:59Perfect portable radio for at home or on the go! Just 2 AA batteries gives you 100 hours of play time. Definitely would recommend this product to o everyone.
Jun 11, 2021 17:28The radio stations are clear. The music sounds always clear most of the time. When not clear I change to classical music. I usually listen to jazz on this radio. I can only get jazz and keep it if I get it in the morning if not it sounds cloudy.
Sep 25, 2021 11:49Great radio , I almost use it everyday and carry it everywhere because light weight and 3 weeks only 2AA battery need ,love it soooo much .
May 01, 2020 21:16Alright, I already know most of those under the age of 50 asking why do I need a portable AM\FM radio, since I have my phone always with me. But for those of you who know the advantages and enjoy a separate means of listening to the radio, you'll find this Sony brand radio a perfect match. It will surpass your needs and you can even answer your phone and walk away from the radio at the same time... Enjoy it - battery life has surprised me by using it daily for over a year and it is still going strong. Let's see a new cell phone match those capabilities...
Jan 01, 2021 16:17Love this small and light radio. Since I cannot get the Twins games over the internet and cable tv is too expensive for me I have gone back to listening to games on the radio as I did in the 60s. My wife doesn't understand why I bought this when I can listen on Sirius Radio. With this SONY radio I get the live event four seconds earlier than Sirius or cable tv so I am informed before all my buddies.
Apr 10, 2021 10:55Share your tunes no matter where you roam with this Toshiba portable boom box. The top-loading CD player lets your play your entire collection, and an AM/FM tuner means you can stay on top of the news or the latest hits. This Toshiba portable boom box offers memory storage for up to 30 of your favorite stations.
Hard to find CD players nowadays, they have the way of the cassette deck. Nice to be able to play some old collectibles with this little player.
Feb 12, 2021 09:41Worked as expected. instructions were clear so inserting batteries and playing CDs or radio was easy.
Jan 30, 2021 09:16I listen to mostly audio books. This is a nice little item that meets all of my needs. Great value!
Aug 12, 2019 11:04The Toshiba boom box is just what I wanted for my bedroom. At night when I read it fills the room with my music as I relax.
Jan 18, 2019 17:29I love it, it's getting very hard to find these. I have so many CD's
and my old player was wearing out, so now I have a new one !
Aug 17, 2019 06:20Never expected this radio to be sooooo small, very disappointed!...
Mar 05, 2021 21:41The fine print and proximity to each other make it difficult to operate. It was purchased for use in a group home with developmental challenged individuals and is unlike that it can be used independently and some staff mentioned difficulty in operated, even those with advanse degrees
Jun 26, 2020 16:49My son wanted to replace his old desk top stereo system and found this one. It has all the functions he was looking for and takes up very little space.
Jul 28, 2020 18:14Revel in immersive audio with this retro-style Ion Boombox Deluxe portable stereo. Dual full-range speakers deliver impressive sound reproduction, while Bluetooth technology, USB playback, an AM FM radio and a built-in cassette player offer vast entertainment options. This Ion Boombox Deluxe portable stereo comes with a long-lasting rechargeable battery for convenience.
With a trained ear as a musician for most of my life, I appreciate good clarity. My opinions are based on that fact.
Growing up in the 80’s, I’ve had my share of Boomboxes. I have no idea what happened to any of them at this point, but I have been wanting something like that again for years, so I was excited to see a company actually take a shot at re-creating the much adored old skool Boombox. I do applaud ION for the retro look of this (I had one very similar way back), but that’s about where the cool ends for me. Personally, the most important part of a Boombox is the sound and this just fails. While it is not trying to compete with audiophile quality, it could still be loads better. You get a two band (Bass & Treble) EQ, plus Bass Boost and that isn’t enough for me to coax a pleasing sound. The speakers are small and thin sounding causing distortion a little past 50% volume. Bass boost is useless and only makes speakers distort worse. I have tried cassettes, Micro SD music, radio, as well as Bluetooth, and while all of these options work well (it’s nice to actually have a Cassette deck again), the sound quality ultimately ruins the vibe.
This is marketed as a modern version of a classic, which includes Bluetooth and an SD card slot. Bluetooth pairing with my Android phone was simple and flawless. Every time I flip the toggle to Bluetooth, it connects to my phone right away. The SD card slot is a welcome addition, but I have a couple of thoughts there as well. First off, why not include the more standard full size SD slot instead of a micro SD? I doubt there is a space issue, so that is odd. Secondly, there should definitely be a “shuffle” button included on the side controls for SD and/or USB device playback. Who really wants to listen to 8, 16, or 32 gigabytes of music all in a row?
The tuner seems solid and gets great reception in my area.
It includes an internal rechargeable battery. Very cool feature, but no sure how much time it will provide yet. There is also an option to load it up with six D cell batteries, but again I want to ask why? Why not use that space for a bigger internal rechargeable battery instead? Maybe even make it a battery that can be ejected and replaced over time.
Conclusion… Nicely built, solid sounding, aesthetically pleasing Boomboxes were all the rage in my youth. I can only hope that other companies climb on board the retro wagon and start reproducing some of the classic Boomboxes of Generation X. Let’s also hope that if they do, they focus on sound quality a little more than this offering.
PROS:
Retro styling
Internal rechargeable battery
Cassette deck and Radio work well
Built in mics so you can record straight to Cassettes/SD cards
CONS:
Speakers are thin causing distortion a little past 50% volume
Bass boost is useless and only makes speakers distort worse
Some of the printed text on mine is smeared, giving it a more cheap look
Should use the D cell battery compartment for more internal battery
SD slot should be full size
No “shuffle” button for SD cards
Oct 12, 2019 01:00The Ion Boombox Deluxe does a great job at bringing old technology and integrating it with modern day tech. For those of you that grew up in the 80s and 90s this is a sure fire way to bring you back those long summer days with friends by the pool or beach. Lets dive in to this little piece of nostalgia and see what you can expect to receive from this set up.
First off out of the box your going to receive the main boombox, power cord and instructions. First off i want to say this unit looks just like a old school boombox with a built in cassette player that i grew up listening to. It seems that Ion really wanted to focus on making this unit a real life replica of what we all grew up with. Let me explain what i mean by this. It has a functioning AM/FM digital receiver that works with a side mount turn dial knob. The cassette player isn't just for looks but actually plays cassettes and lets you record on to them. Here's the really cool part about the cassette player being able to record. You can record directly off the radio station or you can record on to a cassette off of your own custom playlist rather it be through bluetooth or the side mounted usb or micro SD ports. It has working left and right VU level gauges along with a functioning scale. The top of the stereo features three turn style knobs for volume, bass and treble. On the other side you have three throw switches for am/fm, mono/stereo/bass boost, and tape/aux/radio/usb. They even went as far as to throw in a functioning battery tray which allows for 6 D batteries. Yes this unit is rechargeable and runs off a built in rechargeable battery but what i found funny and kinda of nostalgic was the fact that in the instruction booklet they even say that if you want to feel more like the past they provided a battery tray so that you can install batteries which will power it just like when you were a kid. Gotta love the attention to detail! This unit will connect to your phone through bluetooth so that during bbq's or parties you can play all your favorite jams off of Spotify or Google Play Music. Now lets chat for a moment about sound quality. If sound quality is a big deal to you then i advise you stay away from this unit. Sound quality coming off of this boombox isn't horrible but isn't the best by any means. My first reaction when listening to music off of my Spotify playlist was " WOW this sounds just like the boombox i owned when i was i kid." Now don't get me wrong its not exactly that bad. The sound quality is clear and not all distorted like it was in the past its just that the quality sounds very plain. The bass boost function does little to no help in getting that extra bass out there. In fact when i switched the bass boost on, all it seemed to do was make the music louder. Obviously the drivers aren't the top of the line but that's ok. I would hope one would not buy this thinking they are going to get orchestra like quality but rather would buy this for its functionality and looks. This unit definitely grabs attention and so far everywhere i have taken it, it has definitely gotten good reaction from others. I've had some people wanting to buy it off of me just for the simple fact that it looks perfectly like the ones we group up with. This boombox even allows for you to answer calls and talk through the radio via the built in mic.
Overall guys this unit did a very good job at replicating something we all group with. Sound quality isn't superb so then why the 5 stars? Here's the reason why. Anytime i buy a replica of something from the past i expect it to be exactly like the item i remember owning with a touch of modern day technology. Everything on this unit functions and nothing is placed there just for aesthetics but rather brings it all together to make it feel like a genuine 80's boombox. Even though the sound quality isn't great that's ok because the sound quality was never good off of a boombox to begin with however its still way better sound quality than an actual original style boombox. The simple fact that you have an actual functioning cassette player and AM/FM tuner was a big plus. With the addition of a battery tray which holds 6 D batteries just like back in the days was a nice touch that made me laugh but in a good way. Over all this is a good unit and a good buy. If your looking for something to impress your friends with or a good piece to add to your blast from the past collection then i feel you will be greatly pleased. However if your sole concern is sound quality then stay away from this unit. Me however, i found this unit to fit me perfectly. If i want superb sound quality then i'll grab my Bose however when it comes to having friends over and BBQ, this is my go to unit.
Oct 17, 2019 14:33TLDR Review: Is this the best Bluetooth stereo out there? No, not by a long shot. Is this the most RAD Bluetooth stereo to rock out your 80's playlist while sportin' your Member's Only jacket and breakdancing (or in my case, probably breaking my hip or my neck)? Yes, yes it is.
I love music and I collect music players of all sorts and I have really loved the advent of either retrofitting old devices with new tech or styling the devices like their older counterparts. I have originals like a 1919 standing Victrola that works beautifully and I have a bluetooth radio build into an old early '60s Zenith clock radio, among a lot of others. When I saw the ION Audio Boombox Deluxe I knew I had to add it to the collection since I had a boombox pretty close to this in the 80's. There were many evenings at the youth center practicing my non-existent breakdancing moves on cardboard in the common room. The music was awesome but my talent was about what you would expect from a nerdy 10 year old white kid with all the rhythm of Steve Martin from 'The Jerk'. (WOW, did I just feel old right then).
While this is not the best bluetooth radio, it has the benefit of being a cool reproduction, getting EXTREMELY loud - almost booming if you will, and it can can play music from the radio, bluetooth, tape, micro-sd card, and USB sticks. The Boombox Deluxe pretty much has you covered. On top of that you can also record to tape from those other sources or to the SD-card or USB if you want! Here comes the mix-tape/SD-card combo pack!
The battery life is pretty good. At first I was a bit disappointed that I did not get the rated 10 hours that ION claims but it turns out that I did not properly top off the charge when I got it. I did plug it in when I received it but the charging light did not come on. Looking in the users guide, it said that the light is off when fully charged so I assumed it was already at 100% and I unplugged it right away. I ended up getting 7 hours and 45 minutes out of it before it died. I went to plug it in to recharge it and the light still didn't come on. Couldn't find anything in the users guide about charging other than 'plug it in', so I went online and found that not only do you have to plug it in, you must also flip the switch on the back of the Boombox to activate AC use. This needs to be done if you are listening to it while plugged in AND also to get it to charge the built in battery! Would have been nice to know. The only thing it says about that power switch is on pg. 7 and that it is there to turn the device on or off. I'm still not sure what all that switch is for since the 'MODE' switch on the top turns it on regardless of which that way that On/Off switch is set. I think it must be more for directing current from the AC cord or if you want to power it from D-Cell batteries (which you can also do).
My only other grumble about the Boombox Deluxe is the fact that the level meters (both the analog needles and the lights) don't really work unless you have it on radio or tape and have the volume up to ear-splitting levels. Would have been nice if they were a bit more sensitive to actually work at reasonable volume levels. For that and the whole power issue, I would knock of 1/2 a star if I could but since I can't, and I'm so geeked by the nostalgia factor, I'll give it the full 5-stars. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go grab my Members Only jacket (yes, I do, in fact have one - they are still made believe it or not) and a few my old tapes the I dug out of storage (REM 'Green' and Madonna 'Like a Prayer', which BTW STILL smells like pachouli) and go blast this thing to bug all the old people!
Oct 10, 2019 10:44This is the perfect boombox for a small gathering at the beach or pool. I will be honest, if you are looking for some thump, then this will be a hard pass; my UE Roll does a better job. But, if you are looking for something fun and portable, this will get the job done.
Dec 29, 2019 19:26Great quality sound great playing my old cassette with & its great you could connect it to your phone must have for cassette player...
May 14, 2021 16:54Needed another boombox in the house!!! So pretty kool to hav!!!
Jan 26, 2021 12:45I traveled overseas with this and everyone I met on the plane loved it.
Jan 08, 2021 20:43It’s old school. I love the quality and build. Closest thing to the original. Couldn’t tell the difference w/o looking or knowing the name. Has Bluetooth and chargeable built in batteries.
Jul 10, 2020 21:04Listen to favorite music with this Studebaker radio. Its retro styling adds vintage charm to any home while evoking memories of a simpler time, and it receives both AM and FM stations. Thanks to the foldable rotary telescopic antenna and carrying handle, it's easy to bring this Studebaker radio to a party or get-together.
It's adorable. It's retro. It's exactly what I wanted!
Feb 08, 2021 13:13This is a gift for my 91-year-old mother. She is enjoying it very much especially since she is legally blind and has no problems maneuvering the buttons and knobs.
Nov 12, 2021 15:52I love this little radio. The look brings back memories of years gone by. The sound is on par for an over the air radio. Nothing spectacular but I'm okay with that. I bought a nostalgic radio to play over the air radio for a nostalgic sound. I'm happy
Nov 29, 2021 00:54I purchased this adorable portable radio for my mom, who lives in a nursing home. During the pandemic, she was confined to her room, all of the clients were. She does have a television however, she loves her music, so I wanted to give her a choice in her daily entertainment. She loves it.
Sep 17, 2021 16:08I found this to be a good solution in my husbands' hobby room. He now can have music while he works. It small, compact and very easy to use. He is very happy with the quality of the Studebaker Radio.
Jul 23, 2021 15:38I purchased this for my grandma who is in a care facility. She loves to listen to the radio but doesn’t have a lot of space. This radio was fun because it had a retro look and very straightforward and easy to use. Great quality and value!
Jan 10, 2020 20:57Small and efficient - we bought this to have for storms.
Sep 23, 2021 13:14My Mom loved the old style, color and sound of true AM radio music!
Aug 20, 2021 16:15Enjoy your favorite music through multiple media with this Toshiba portable audio system. Stream playlists from your phone or tablet via Bluetooth, or use the 30 presets to select FM radio stations. The flashing seven-color disco lights on this Toshiba portable audio system add to the entertainment at parties or gatherings.
Got this from one of the San Francisco California stores. It gets an A for variety of input sources -- you can play USB, SD card, BT, Aux, FM, and CDs. But considering its size (19 inches long), it should put out more bass. It has 2 speakers on the front and a passive radiator on each side. They all work, but bassheads will be disappointed. Plus the pictures make it seem like the front speakers are nice shiny metal discs, but actually they don't look like that at all. They're just dull silver-painted nylon or polyurethane cones. There are LED lights mounted in front of them, and you can pick one of 7 different colors. Unfortunately those lights just flash a fixed pattern, they don't beat to the music. So what's the point? Anyway, it sounds fairly good when playing generic pop music, and it gets loud, but if you're a basshead, it will disappoint. The bass doesn't make itself known until you crank it up too loud for comfort. For that reason I think it's best-suited for a big garage or shop where loud volume is more important than bass, rather than a bedroom where the opposite is true. If you want deep, room-filling bass at low volumes, get an old JVC Kaboom from the 90s.
Jan 11, 2018 17:41I'm an "older" person who originally wanted "just" a CD player. I'm so happy with this one! CD player and radio (which actually picks up the stations I like!). It also has the capability for blue tooth, which I've taken advantage of, and other capabilities that I've not used. The sound quality is great for a small player, and it's easy to use.
Jul 12, 2018 17:09I really wanted to love this little unit. It is adorned with numerous ways to accommodate your music... USB, CD, Radio, Bluetooth, line in and it all works... easily. (The disco lights are a bit much but you can stop them from cycling). All in all a cool looking music box too.
However, the sound is a bit tinny and there is little bass. I guess Toshiba didn't get the message. (It's a BOOM box). Luckily there is some EQ. Set it on Jazz or rock and leave it.
I like this thing and it does get a bit loud for like... in the kitchen during a party. Still it is a cool little unit as stated and worth the price I paid for it... I just wish they would have left some more Boom in the box. (More bass).
Jun 07, 2019 16:39This is a middle of the range boom box to listen to CD's with. But it can do much more with bluetooth, SSD, with wireless remote. The sound quality is middle of the road more treble than bass. Less than $100 made this a great purchase.
Sep 25, 2020 15:50This Boom Box is exactly what I was looking for. Love the remote and it is able to do many functions. Disc plays and operates great. FM is nice ( good thing it is digital ) Never turned the volume up to max but I'm happy with it for good volume. I had it outside and there was plenty volume there too. NIce Party Machine!
Jun 12, 2020 17:19The USB function on this unit is truly great.
It lets you play up to 999 songs on RANDOM from a loaded up flash drive of music!
if you have ever listened to the radio at work you know what I'm talking about. it's like a treat at work.
Jan 13, 2018 21:55This sounds so much better than 25W! I have it hooked up to my HP Pavilion with a Bang & Olufsen amplifier, and it does not disappoint in adding the necessary midrange and bass! One drawback is that it requires 8 D batteries, but I purchased rechargable batteries, and it's ok with me!
May 21, 2021 15:59I was looking for a boombox that had good volume and this fits the bill. Many boomboxes are so lightweight, but this one has a substantial feel and does not feel cheap and lightweight. The operation is easy . The CD has bluetooth and USB capabilities which I haven't used, but I plan to use in the future. It is a good value for the money.
Apr 20, 2018 09:47Catch the latest news and music while taking a morning walk with this Insignia armband radio. It lets you preset up to 10 AM and 10 FM stations, and it comes with on-ear headphones and two AAA batteries to get you started. The removable belt clip and armband of this Insignia armband radio provide flexible wearing options.
When I’ve purchased this model the design and features of the radio are very good but the durability of the brand is suspect for it has failed to hold up even when the use is not that demanding. On my first purchase the headphone Jack broke off and was not repairable. On my second purchase the internal parts failed leaving the clock as the only functional part the radio would not operate. It’s best to buy the insurance if you buy this insignia model .
Jul 16, 2021 20:19Inexpensive little battery radio. Wrist clip is handy. Great radio for local stations. At first I thought it didn't work, but there are TWO on/ off switches. One locks everything (for jogging etc) so that has to be OFF for tuning, vol, etc to work.
Oct 29, 2021 19:21Insignia portable digital AM/FM radio is a fantastic bargain, It has it's own over the head headphones, attaches to your arm for walking, and is good for sporting events.
Oct 27, 2021 00:49great basic radio for mobile use. Great while doing outside activities without worrying about getting signal
Nov 08, 2021 09:41I use radio when I am doing yard work and walking my dog. Most of the stations come through on am\fm. For the price the radio is good.
Oct 23, 2021 17:03It does what it needs to do, sound isn't super great but thats ok. It fufills the need it was made for.
Oct 02, 2021 01:12Belt is a great idea for this product and I enjoy it very much and would love to see more progress on products like this ...............................................................................................
Sep 17, 2021 20:07Bought this for my dad who is much older and loves listening to radio stations and these head phones. He loved it.
Nov 03, 2021 11:41Play CDs, CD-Rs and CD-RWs on this Memorex portable CD player. The 60-second anti-skip protection ensures interruption-free audio, while programmable tracks let you easily recall your favorite tunes. This Memorex portable CD player features an LCD for simple frequency navigation, and the included stereo earbuds offer crisp and clear sound.
A blast from the past! I haven’t used a portable disc player since junior high (early 00’s), so its been awhile. I am fortunate to have a large collection of music on CD’s – thanks Dad, so I figured I’d give this player a spin. The setup comes with the disc player, earbuds with support fins, batteries, and the manual.
I’ll be honest, the player itself is not asthetically pleasing. It looks and feels on the cheap side, which it is. Not really a knock against it, but don’t expect a svelte looking/feeling piece of equipment. This is priced on the budget side, and the looks are in line with that. The budget build affects the buttons on the device – they are not soft/easy actuating buttons. It takes a concerted effort to push them, and they make a loud click upon actuation. There are pros/cons to this. The pros are you know the button has been pushed, and you won’t accidentally click buttons when you don’t mean to. The downside is single hand operation is tough with rigid buttons – you can do it, but its just a bit harder than it needs to be. All the buttons are on top, so you don't have to go searching for anything. The headphone/outlet jack are located along the side (AC outlet pack not included). I think it just uses a stand 5V AC wall wart, but I’m fine with just batteries anyways.
As far as features goes, it has just about everything you would expect. It has no issues playing burned discs. I didn’t have any .mp3 discs to try out , so I can’t comment on that. It has the anti-skip button – a needed feature for anyone reliving the old portable CD player days. I was able to hold the player upside-down and/or sideways without it skipping. I tossed it onto the couch and dropped it on the floor from a foot or so up while listening and it didn't skip. So that works well. The player has all the normal options of repeat song, repeat all, shuffle. It all has a song preview mode where you get the first 10 seconds of the song before jumping to the next. Then there’s the program feature that lets you select which songs to skip on the disc – kind of nice if there’s that one song you absolutely hate on the disc. The selection isn’t saved after a power cycle, so you have to reset it each time you turn the player on.
The sound is nothing special. A lot of it comes down to the quality of the earbuds/headphones you use. It sounded really good with my more expensive headphones, and pretty flat with cheapo earbuds. It has 3 equalizer options (rock, pop, surround). Rock makes the bass prominent, pop makes the vocals prominent, surround didn’t seem to do much until I used my larger over-ear headphones. It simulates a broader soundstage. For me the either the Rock or Pop setting were used depending on the genre I was playing.
The player comes with packaged earbuds. I was excited to try them out because I prefer earbuds that either have the support fins (like these) or ear hooks. Compared to some $2 cheapo earbuds I had, these sounded quite a bit better. You could discern the difference in sound in the Surround ESP with these buds, whereas the other buds didn’t bring that out. Unfortunately the earbuds fell apart after the 3rd use. Pretty disappointed there since I thought they were comfortable and didn’t sound too bad. So my advice, don’t rely on these earbuds because they seem to be prone to failure (actually my second pair in this case to fail).
Overall, this is a good player that brings back some memories. My SO and her kids are in love with this player, so its kind of cool to see the next generation enjoying something that was revolutionary in my childhood. Be prepared to swap out for different earbuds – I had several pairs laying around so this wasn’t an issue for me.
Apr 29, 2020 01:50Throwback? Maybe NOT! This portable CD player provides a versatile way to listen to some of your most favorite CDs. It comes with a super-basic set of ear plugs. But, it is NOT limited when it comes to more enhanced listening pleasure. I have used a more expensive set of over-the-ear, noise-canceling headphones and am overjoyed at the reproduced quality of music by this player.
My newer vehicle does NOT have a CD player. My guess is that the Techie-Gurus have determined CDs are NO longer a viable, mainstream participant in this Digital, Streaming World of Music. Things change. Or, do they just evolve into more popular venues? I am a Vinyl-Fan and have an extensive collection of over 800 records. My wife has an accumulation of over 500 CDs and she loves listening to them daily on our high-end amp-receiver. But now, this Memorex Portable CD Player allows her to enjoy her CDs anywhere she ventures around our home. WooHoo!
The updated LCD screen allows her to maneuver the various options featured by this Memorex CD Player. An intuitive and simple display shows all the various options provided. Even without the high resolution codecs this CD player does a terrific job when paired with a high-end-over-the-ear headphone. I am impressed by the quality of sound reproduction. I highly recommend the use of more quality listening ear headphones.
We have used this Memorex Portable CD Player in various positions. In my pocket in the upright position and at various levels of horizontal. It is sensitive to bumps and jogs, so we use it in the most passive positions possible. The sixty second anti-skip protection ensures interruption-free audio. For its Price-Point, this is a terrific bargain.
I highly recommend the purchase of this Memorex Portable CD Player. It does an outstanding job of delivering crisp CD quality music. . . .
Apr 27, 2020 21:26The product worked, but they gave me a used/previously opened product - I paid for new. Not everything was included in the box. I am usually happy with everything I buy from Best Buy, but this was disappointing.
Jul 09, 2021 17:47Excellent price and sound is nice and clear. Perfect for my walks
Nov 10, 2020 18:08Decent quality for a very reasonable price. Sounds pretty good for the price
Sep 28, 2021 21:04Not the most ergonomic CD player but I enjoy the anti-skip because I do remember walking funny from class to class with a CD player in my pocket (huge) just so it wont skip my favorite parts. You've got to really appreciate the small things. Also, there's something about the sound a CD has that's different than a digital file. All in all I would recommend simply because it was built right. I like that it has the ability to play MP3's as well. It's a very simple piece of tech and it has very basic functions. This is the perfect vehicle for a trip down memory lane.
May 01, 2020 15:52The Memorex products aren't exactly known for being examples of cutting edge product design, and I'm not even 100% sure that the Memorex company is producing these products, or if its just a licensee of the brand creating cheap electronics, but that being said, if you're still looking for a way to take your favorite newfangled "Compact Discs" on the road with you.
The playback capabilities were solid, and the audio jack was fine when used with higher-end headphones, like my Beats Studio 2's and their AUX cable...
There's a very specific reason I mention that -The included headphones are awful and even crackle when plugged into the port - To the point that I thought the audio port itself was defective upon use. Turns out the included headphones just aren't worth it. Rubbish!
The unit functions well enough - The anti-skip works well as long as you don't knock the device around too much, and the controls are a bit mushy but this isn't a high-priced product. This isn't a Sony Discman competitor, but Sony stopped making those a few decades ago.
If you have a need for a new portable CD player in 2020, this is your only option, so I'd recommend. With your own headphones its a passable and functional replacement for the players of yore.
May 10, 2020 22:40It's definitely high quality. It plays great and with the choice of earbud size I found one that fits and it sounds great. But the controls are hard to get at once I put the player in my pocket, With my old one I could turn the volume up or down with a touch & with this ,I have to take it out
Oct 15, 2021 15:49Listen to your favorite playlist with this Sony Walkman MP3 player. The high-resolution audio has 45 hours of battery life for continuous entertainment on a single charge, and the 16GB of built-in memory offers ample space for storing media. This Sony Walkman MP3 player features ClearAudio + technology that ensures incredibly clear sound.
Great music players but the only negative thing about this player is the charge/data port. Its not your typical USB port. So if you lose the cable that comes with the player, you're gonna be in trouble.
Jul 02, 2021 06:58Really love the FM Radio on this version despite having to use my wired beats headphones. When I go for walks love the ability of this model to use my wireless headsets. Also love the many fine tuning I can perform regarding to the sound down to the equalizer feature, ability to set the sound to sound like a vinyl record. Enjoy the expandable memory right now using the 256g Sd card. Love how the album covers come up on the display while the music is playing . In addition the touch screen makes for easy and smooth navigation with the touch screen.
Oct 17, 2021 03:25I absolutely love this MP3 player I had one before and I lost it because it was so smalle and it was the NWA45 series. It went on sale last year around Christmas time for $50 less and I didn't take advantage of it so I lost out. But this year it went on sale for $50 less and it was the newer model which is the NWA50don't really see any difference except that newer technology I guess it works totally OK a the sound quality is amazing it has a lot of memory and I've already added a couple of playlists in their. It would be nice if it came with some type of carrying case or Clip on my shirt or a carrying case on a lanyard but other than that I absolutely love this thing It has Sony as its name and Sony has always been high quality stuff. This is the 4th Sony walkman that I have owned, 2 of them were CD players and now with technology the way it is 2 of them were MP3 players. I definitely recommend to a friend. The only thing is I don't know why the headphone is on the bottom that kinda is funny to me but it doesn't matter this thing is extremely high quality stuff
Jan 03, 2021 01:46A tremendous improvement over prior digital music players I've had in the past. I wish I knew about the Sony Digital Walkman before I bought my last unit. I took the SD card from my previous player and put it in the Sony and WOW! Night and day. Bass response, separation, you name it, it improved. Two minor critiques: the touch screen is very sensitive so the locking feature is a must. Also, do not understand why the database needs to refresh every time the unit is turned on, but it refreshes quickly.
Jun 05, 2021 00:24I purchased this, but decided to return it. The build and weight was nice, just thought it was a little too small. Also, I was having issues with album art since I use iTunes. You'll also need to buy a separate memory card.
Nov 14, 2021 10:46I only use this for audiobooks. Presently it has about 20 unabridged titles stored. This is my second Sony 16gig mp3 player.
Although this updated version has many more options, Bluetooth, etc. I preferred the previous Walkman because it had a rotary dial as opposed to the touch screen. The screen is quite sensitive and often shifts to different books, chapters, etc. while I am turning it off, on, adjusting the volume, etc.
The previous 16gig was no longer available when I purchased this one.
Oct 22, 2021 15:54It is very pleasant to have it in hand. But because I have problem with small print it was a little too difficult for me to use. I've used different Sony mp3s for many years and always loved them because they were easy, but this one was difficult.
I returned it.
Oct 23, 2020 18:18Did not want to continue carrying an I phone to listen to tunes while walking . This lighter weight player is a good option. A good product.
Oct 03, 2020 20:26Upgrade audio entertainment with this Insignia multifunction stereo boombox. Bluetooth technology, an AM/FM radio, and cassette and CD compatibility provide multiple playback options, while two stereo speakers ensure immersive sound reproduction. This Insignia multifunction stereo boombox powers up through an AC adapter or six D batteries for versatility and features soft-touch buttons and a backlit display for easy operation.
I bought this to have as a backup CD player for my car. CD player, radio, cassette all works fine, but the bluetooth has yet to connect. I've had it now for several months, so I've given it ample time to connect to several devices. I didn't return it, because it works for what I need, but test the bluetooth on these and keep your receipt.
Oct 14, 2020 09:31Just when I thought I found a suitable replacement for my Sony CDF-S36 CD Radio Cassette-Corder, was I woefully disappointed.
First of all, I was taken aback by the quality of the ‘push’ buttons on the control panel. Some buttons were uneven and others, cock-eyed. Nevertheless, they still seemed to work when I pressed them to startup the ‘Boom’ box. Then I observed an excessive rectangular cut-out for the optical reader, a less than optimal design solution which will probably shorten the life of the CD player as dust and other airborne particles begin to easily accumulate inside the unit. But the most glaring concern, hands down, is the quality of sound or lack thereof!
When I turned on the unit for the first time, it seemed as though it was still packed inside the box. The ‘muffled’ resonance is awful. It’s neither crisp nor clear and it also fails to produce the nominal highs and lows that are essential for any music appreciation. My previous boom box had cost $70.00 (in 2001) and had a ‘mega’ bass and ‘mega’ expand sound setting but who would have thought there would have been much of a difference for a unit that is now $10.00 less after 20 years of improved technology?
As a discerning audiophile, had I taken the time to listen to the ‘Boom’ box in the store instead of buying it online, it might have stayed there. But if you're still skeptical and find this review overly critical, then, by all means, buy it. However, do yourself a favor. Find a pair of decent computer speakers and plug them into the rear jack for the earphones. Fortunately, I had a pair of older Creative I-Trigue 2300, 18-watt 2.0 computer speakers (which cost me $40.00 in 2007) that I hooked up to the unit and now it sounds almost as good as my old Sony!
So, for now, I’ll keep the ‘Boom’ box but if it craps out at any time during my Best Buy two-year protection plan, I’ll gladly return it for an upgrade . . .
Mar 28, 2021 14:51It was open box but when I opened it there was no remote as shown on the picture. Also inside is strangely open. I think I need a different one.
Mar 03, 2020 13:01Its very sleek and stylish, the sound quality is superb and lots of bass for those hip hop fans. Also the cd player plays perfectly and even loads semi scratched cds without a problem. The radio works excellent and its worth every penny. You won't be disappointed at all with purchasing this item. The price is unbeatable and it's very well made and sturdy. Perfect for any outdoor event or setting and the battery life is awesome and will last for days depending on your use of it.
Jan 03, 2020 20:37I'm out in my workshop a good part of the day and all I hear is the noise of my tools. Gotta have some music! Went to Best Buy and got a good deal on this Insignia Portable Radio and CD player. Now it's much more pleasant to have music playin in the background.
Jul 21, 2021 12:10Very nice product with many features. Cassette deck and bluetooth/aux in are all as loud as radio when playing. Radio antenna picks up stations well. Sound is clear at higher (not highest) volume number. Good enough to carry over a hot tub blower running. 2 drawbacks...everything is push button for every function. I see future issues with that. Also the back hole where the AC cord plugs into is frail. It broke off back into the boombox and is quite a pain to use now. It has 6 months left on warranty
Nov 01, 2021 14:52Pros:
-Great sound quality.
-Mostly very sturdy construction.
Cons:
-The front buttons (the main ones you'll be pressing when you're not listening to a cassette) are very small and thus hard to read if your eyes aren't good, and they take more effort to press than you'd expect.
-Bluetooth stopped wanting to connect to my phone after a few months.
-CD player lid feels relatively delicate and will open with just the slightest accidental press.
Oct 24, 2020 16:06It does work well! You can play your cassettes also! It's a nice feeling to go get your old tapes coming back to life :)
The only thing I'm kinda disappointed is that it doesn't have an equalizer or adjust the bass or treble.
Jul 11, 2020 14:07Play your classic music collection with this silver Crosley cassette player. The built-in Bluetooth receiver supports seamless digital audio streaming, while the AM/FM tuner lets you catch news, sports and emergency broadcasts. This Crosley cassette player features a microphone so you can add a personal touch to your mixtapes and recordings.
I had a radio/cassette player for many years. The cassette player stopped working. I went on line to Best Bey to see what I could find. I was shocked to find one so similar to what had. I very quickly ordered it. When I received it I was very shocked to find it also has a USB port. I love, love this. I get a radio, cassette, and a USB port.
Thank you, thank you.

Aug 21, 2021 20:40I live way out in the country and have a hard time picking up radio stations, I needed the metal antenna, the wire antennas don't work out here, and my cats tore the wire up. :)
My 24 year old daughter asked were I got something from the 80s!
Feb 20, 2021 08:06it was very nice to be able to purchse the radio with a cassette player which i had been looking for a while
Sep 03, 2021 22:34Works ok, very cheaply built. High price for what you are getting. I bought a small old used player at goodwill for $6.00 and it works better and better quality than this.
It serves the purchase for what I needed but don't expect good sound quality.
Mar 05, 2021 17:52We order this player on line and I picked it up at our local store. It is a great value and we are enjoying it.
Dec 11, 2020 16:28This looked like a great product. It arrived quickly. I tried the radio and it worked great. Then I tried to play a cassette. This did not go well. The cassette started to play and then made a funny noise. When I checked it turned out that the spool to the left that should be taking up the tape was doing nothing and it was eating up my cassette. I tried two other cassettes with the same results.
Dec 09, 2020 06:33I was looking for something that I could use when the lights are not working for entertainment
Sep 18, 2020 22:58Works greats and I get a lot of compliments about it.
Apr 21, 2021 07:06Enjoy rich sound with this iLIVE Bluetooth CD radio portable boombox. The compact design lets you carry this boombox with you, and the Bluetooth capability lets you connect a wide array of devices. This iLIVE Bluetooth boombox features a 6-hour battery life, so you can listen to music on long trips or at events without having to recharge.
Bought this radio to be used for my office area at work. Wanted the flexibility of having a Radio, CD player, bluetooth was a bonus. It has fairly basic controls and a built-in antenna, setup was easy...and so far it's been working great. Only negatives I would say is I am having some problems getting good reception from my office area (it's mainly due to the office building itself)...but I wonder if an antenna bar would give me better reception options...right now you have to move/turn the whole radio itself or play with the cord to get better signal. Also, added AM channel options would have nice. So far very happy with it though.
Dec 17, 2016 11:41This has a ton of features, CD player, Bluetooth, Aux input and FM/AM Radio...
My only complaint is when you do listen to the FM/AM radio option sound level 1 IS LOUD!!!!!!! It actually matches the level 7 on the Bluetooth, level 8 on CD according to my gauge but it is still a good buy
Jul 10, 2020 16:12bought the ilive mostly for the bluetooth. it paired up with my cell phone instantly. no problems. plays music through my phone perfectly. not many boomboxes available with bluetooth at this price. sound quality is average at best. no equalizer or ability to boost sound levels at all. volume level reached decent level without distortion but not particularly loud. a remote control is not included but would have been a nice feature. the power cord is built into the bottom of the unit which is nice. overall a decent player for my needs.
Oct 31, 2013 20:47I wanted a portable CD/radio that had the option of plugging into the wall (didn't want to run through batteries) and this has delivered. I was surprised the first time we turned on the radio that it got a good signal without even having the antenna up and extended.
May 30, 2015 07:03The sound is not as full as I hoped it would be, but for it’s price point its not so bad.
Oct 08, 2021 15:06This works great for my grand daughter. Easy to use.
Jul 11, 2021 10:04This boom box does it all and for the office, it's perfect! Great size, fantastic quality! Other co-workers have asked me where I purchased it from. Liked by all.
Jan 05, 2016 15:41We bought this radio for the pool and boat and it works great for that. Not a real deep sound but for the money it is definitely a good radio. Bluetooth works good and reception on the radio is pretty good.
Aug 11, 2017 21:35Spin classic hits and new favorites with this Studebaker 80's Retro Street CD player. The stereo speakers deliver powerful audio to match vintage boom boxes, and the Bluetooth connectivity ensures convenient streaming options via a smartphone or tablet. This Studebaker 80's Retro Street CD player has a carry handle to maximize portability.
The Studebaker boombox has decent sound but nothing out of the ordinary. It is not particularly well designed which results in it being awkward to insert a cd. This is because one has to insert the cd vertically while trying to make sure one does not get fingerprints on the cd or scratch the cd. It would be better if the boombox had a tray that flipped out into a horizontal position so it would be much easier to load a cd. In addition, the radio did not work on my new Studebaker boombox. I returned it to Best Buy and received a credit on my debit card.
Jul 17, 2020 21:10Purchased this radio from my work shop. It is everything that they advertise and the sound is extremely good. I would highly recommend this product.
Jan 16, 2020 08:24Was very dissatisfied with this Radio!! Sound was not very good... I feel this is overpriced...looks good on the outside but not of good quality on inside...
May 09, 2020 12:50Its cool radio. Holds a charge for a long time. I wish cd would sound louder. Overall I do like it.
May 08, 2020 15:45Very happy with the upgrade and problem solving for my desktop computer. The original problem has been solved plus the speed is that it works now is so much better. I'm very happy with the outcome from Geek Squad!!!
Oct 10, 2020 16:38Throwback to my youth. My kid loves it. Thinks it is 1987 with Bluetooth tech.
Mar 26, 2021 19:22I am sorry to say that this boombox is terrible. The main reason is the stations are full of static. Whether you are inside or outside. When you walk past the boombox it is even worse. The battery life with a full charge does not last entire day of use. If I had the box I would have have returned the boombox. I am very dissatisfied.
May 01, 2020 16:13The description says AM FM. No AM on this radio. You have to watch out for Best Buys online descriptions. Most of them are wrong.
Apr 03, 2020 22:58Bring the boom box back with this Studebaker 80's Retro Street CD player. The Bluetooth receiver supports wireless streaming, while the built-in microphone lets you record a mixtape to reminisce about the good old days. This Crosley cassette player features AC and DC power options for flexibility, and the FM tuner keeps you updated on live broadcasts.
This cassette player has amazing sound quality! It makes my very old cassettes sound brand new! Great Purchase!!
Feb 06, 2021 09:39This ate my tapes up. Very dissatisfied with this. I was really looking forward to listening to my cassettes. Would really like to return it as I hope it’s just a one off problem but I’m past the 15 days by less than a week.
Mar 03, 2021 20:26I was looking for a radio tht play cassettes. Excellent choice. Fast delivery.
May 23, 2020 07:50Listen to your favorite albums and audiobooks on the go with this Memorex portable CD player. The 40-second anti-skip protection function for CDs ensures smooth, uninterrupted listening, while the dynamic bass boost system delivers rich sound. This Bluetooth Memorex portable CD player features an LCD screen and digital control buttons for conveniently choosing tracks and adjusting volume.
So when I got this product, I thought it was going to be a relive of my 90s days --- well it was more of a 90s reboot! Firstly, the anti-skip protection is way better than the old days. I don't think perfect skip protection can exist with actual CDs, but I do feel this is as good as it's gonna get. You also get the CD experience completely wireless this time around if you so choose.
Yes, this one is BLUETOOTH so I can play my old CDs on my bluetooth speakers, headphones, even in my car. Had some re-pairing issues, but I even have that problem with recent standard products too, like some other earbuds I have.
It also has the Bass Boost feature from before and this was a REALLY welcome throwback!
The cons? Just one for me --- just like the old days, it is battery powered (double As) and does not come with an AC adapter --- I would have to buy that separately. Nonetheless, the memories and the upgrade to the old style are worth the price for this fun throwback.
Apr 22, 2020 08:27Gas prices are under $2.00 and I'm reviewing a CD player. What year is it!?!? But, to be fair, this isn't quite like the CD players of the 90's. This CD Player has Bluetooth and far better electronic skip protection than my old CD players did back in the day. It isn't a flawless experience, but if you're looking to add a CD player to your car or want to connect without wires to your Bluetooth speakers and headphones, then dust off your CD wallet and prepare for a blast from the past.
Bluetooth: So, the big selling feature of this CD player is the included Bluetooth connectivity. With Bluetooth, you can connect this player to your portable speakers and wireless headphones. Connection isn't without problems, though. To get Bluetooth to work, you have to turn on the feature each time you start the CD player. It isn't enabled by default. Second quirk is I found myself constantly having to re-pair devices after I had either shut down the CD player or the Bluetooth device. It wasn't a consistent problem; some headphones stayed connected while some speakers did not. But it was a bit more difficult than turning on the devices and having a solid connection each time.
Features: Everything works well. Volume control is digital. The electronic skip protection worked well for my walks and car rides. The buttons on the top of the player are easy enough to use.
The player comes with 2 AA batteries, but no power cable. You can hook up a 4.5v AC adapter, but you will need to buy that separately. With the added feature of Bluetooth connectivity, it would have also been nice to have had a micro or mini USB power port, too. But, I guess that would have been asking too much.
As I said above, anti-skip works well. If you want, you could easily hook this player up to a car's auxiliary audio port. Many vehicles today are foregoing CD players in lieu of huge tablet like displays. If you are looking for an automotive solution, this worked well for me. I didn't experience skips, and the controls on the top of the drive were easy enough to access without taking my eyes off the road.
So, in conclusion, while Bluetooth works, it is a bit more quirky than I would like. As a portable CD player, the drive works well and Bluetooth does work if you are okay with constantly re-enabling and syncing devices.
Apr 17, 2020 13:26I’m what you’d call an “Elder Millenial” just old enough to have a vast CD collection that I started buying when I got my first job in High School. I hadn’t used them in a while, but it still is satisfying to grab a disc, load it into the CD player and press play. This Memorex CD player feels kinda like the ones I used to own and use in high school and in my
Early 20s. It feels sturdy yet flimsy. I don’t think it would survive a fall from waist height. So I don’t plan on jogging with this anywhere. I strictly use it while sitting at home playing video games or doing work on my laptop. It’s a great way to listen to an album distraction free. No notifications or phone calls and texts from my phone to interrupt my music. This is honestly the best part about having a dedicated music / cd player. The uninterrupted music experience alone is worth the purchase. I wanted to give it a 4 star rating because even though it has blue tooth, I could not get any of my Bluetooth headphones to pair with it. My headphones aren’t smart enough on their own to just connect to the CD player. However, I believe this would be great for someone who owns a car that has Bluetooth capability but no CD player. The CD player pairs easily with a cars Bluetooth system. This is a great and affordable way to have a CD player in your car. The CD player comes with a pair of headphones, they’re fine, and they work, but I always recommend using a pair of over the ear headphones for an immersive music listening experience. Battery life is fantastic. I’m going on about 5 hours of music listening with the same two AA batteries installed. There’s no mention of battery life. But this certainly runs longer than the CD players I owned back in high school. Build quality is as expected. Not the most heavy duty but not too cheap either. Don’t drop it though. The electronic skip protection works good enough to walk around with it in hand and I’m sure it’ll work great in the car too. I’m happy with it, I think you will be also.
Apr 18, 2020 15:47It was a pleasure to have time to listen to my CD collection on this very cool throwback CD player.
Call me old fashioned but I like to have devices that do what they were designed to do. A CD player or radio for music, a GPS for directions, etc. With streaming if I walk away, it stops playing music. But with this, the music continues to play. I really like that. And it plays mP3 files too, so that can give you much longer playtime than a regular CD.
Comes with nice earbuds that stay in!
Apr 17, 2020 10:44Great CD player, I know, in this day and age, CD's may not be what they were before, however some, like me still have a collection of CD's that you may still want to listen to. This portable player is very lightweight (I like the color too) and it has Bluetooth, a feature for these modern days! They include a nice pair of wired earbuds, but with Bluetooth, you can pair your favorite ones (or you can pair it to a set of speakers/home theater, if it has Btooth). I like the press on buttons on top for volume (no more spinning wheel on the side). They also include a pair of batteries. Keep some handy, because although it has port for a DC/car adapter, its not included (but you can buy it separately). Sound quality is great, and it has a boombost feature, but my guess is battery life would be less if you use it.
I highly recommend it for anyone that still wants to listen to their CD collection, albeit with a nice pair of bluetooth modern earbuds/speakers!
Apr 26, 2020 20:18It has been a while since I have not listened to my music CD collection -especially since I put them away in CD bookcases. So, looking at this Memorex Bluetooth CD Player was a very welcome experience.
The CD player is exactly what you would expect or remember. It has the stereotypical clamshell design and it is made of plastic. It seems decently well built. It is light and can be handled easily in one hand. I will say that, as it has always been the case, it would not be a good idea to drop it. It has a pleasant retro aesthetic with black and neon green trim. As far as portability, I would not say this is exactly the case, as it does not feature any belt clips or carrying case. It does include a 100-second anti-skip feature though, which is effective while moving it around. The player has a monochrome digital display that shows the usual information such as track, time, mode, etc. It has the usual tactile buttons such as play, pause, forward, back, stop, Bluetooth/mode, program, ESP (anti-skip) and +/- volume. They are responsive and feel very clicky. On the side of the player, there is the open slider, headphone jack, DBBS (bass boost), and a DC power input. I thought it was rather strange to have this DC input as the power pack was not included, and it may be a bit of a hassle to find one that fits. I think this should have been a micro USB input or something more modern as those can be found everywhere. It comes with two AA batteries.
Memorex included a pair of black headphone buds. While this is nice, in my opinion, they are terrible, and sort of detract the whole deal. They have ear fins and they fit fine. However, the sound was incredibly tinny and there is absolutely no bass. I thought that might improve with a different tip size. To my amazement, the whole head came apart simply by attempting to pull the tip off. This would have been infuriating, had I not reminded myself about the retail price of the unit (not an excuse).
So, the player works as expected. The lid opens easily by using the slider and stays open. It makes a nice click when closing it and feels secure. Discs fit well and do not wobble. I used high-grade headphones to test the sound and listened to different music genres. Being that these are actual CD’s, the sound reproduction should be of decent quality. The truth is that is was OK -at least to my ears. Personally, I would have liked more clarity, but it is what it is. Activating the DBBS extra bass boost adds much-needed excitement but also distortion at higher volumes. I found that playing music at about 15% or less was more than enough as these pump out very loud sound.
The player also features Bluetooth 5.0. Pairing is simple, although one must ensure to activate the pairing is being done at the same time on both devices. The sound quality is also alright. Unfortunately, the bass boost does not work in wireless mode, and so the sound depends on the headphones being used. The connection is decent since it did not drop or stutter at long distances -even thorough a wall and a couple of corners. I also tried it with my Bluetooth speaker and again, the experience was just alright.
Now, will admit that I have been spoiled by digital media, especially now that high-quality transmission is a thing, and the wireless experience is here to stay. However, the nostalgia was strong with this one; the same as when one is holding a book or magazine. The tactile feedback, handling (or dusting off) CD’s, and actually operating a machine, bring memories that many would think is certainly worth the asking price.
Apr 17, 2020 15:24Really Nice Low Profile Bluetooth CD Player.
It was really easy to pair with several audio systems, speakers and even a 2020 Toyota Camry which lacks a CD player as many new cars do.
In my test in the car the CD player provided a crisp clean sound through the speakers in the car that sounded perfect and the player played in any position and didn't jump, skip or flutter with a few vertical and horizontal shakes I did to simulate hitting a bump in the road. It is a little easier than putting the CD's on a flash drive and gives you the ability to grab other CD's at the last minute for a trip without putting them on your phone or a flash drive.
When my Dad rides with me, he likes to bring his own CD's to listen to and I really dont have any of that music (or want it LOL)
The headphones included are really mediocre in sound quality but probably par for the course in inexpensive earbuds.
My one wish for something it does not have would be the optional ability to use it powered from a power supply and not two AA batteries all the time
Apr 21, 2020 14:11I consider myself one of the first to always use and buy technology firsthand, but at the same time, I love, cherish, and miss to use old tech such as Sony Walkman, iPod Classic, etc. This Memorex Portable CD Player is literally made me happy, for the first impression when unboxed it, I felt so happy to use and listen to CDs tracks. I have many CDs and I still use them these days but on the shelf and power audio system. This CD player took me back to the '80s and '90s which is my favorites years. Build quality is acceptable, not high finish, 2 AA batteries-powered, 40 seconds anti-skip protection "ESP", the sound is good but not the best, quiet when the music being played, earbuds are useless and not comfortable but alternatively, I got the BT function to pair up my own Bluetooth-enabled headphones and boom! The music seemed amazing! compact and quiet with BT is all what I need. I loved it!!!
Apr 20, 2020 18:34Listen to your favorite music anywhere with this Studebaker CD player. The 60-second anti-skip protection prevents scratching for interruption-free performance, while the programmable memory lets you store your favorite tracks. A digital LCD screen is easy to read, and a mini USB port lets you power the device from various USB power sources. This Studebaker CD player is compact and lightweight for portable use.
Good sound when hooked to auto: Easy to handle, and fits into any space.
I primarily got the CD for the car, since auto makers in their infinite ignorance don't include CD players anymore
Nov 20, 2021 10:14I needed a new player since I have over 2 thousand CDs and not everything digitalized yet so this is perfect for when I like to listen to music when I’m falling asleep!!!
Jan 31, 2020 22:14Plays standard CDs but not mp3 burned cds, no blue tooth but headsets (not included ) deliver great sound. Standard batteries last a long time , but rechargeable last longer.
Dec 05, 2020 08:40ear plugs not easy to stick in ear
little pricy for what it delivers
looks nice
Feb 05, 2021 20:31This player is exactly what it claims to be. I am enjoying listening to my CD's while working from home.
Sep 21, 2020 11:06This is a cute cd player but you have to use earbuds to hear it. It doesnt have a choice of hearing it and then the sound is weak.
Aug 28, 2020 20:53The CD player worked well for 1 day. (the day after I received it). The next day I started to play a CD and the player stopped working. It went to "read" status each time I tried to play a CD. I tried several different CDs with the same results.
I am so disappointed! I wanted to listen to my CDs using headphones and thought that buying a name brand item would work out better than a no-name player.
May 21, 2021 17:58This player does not run well on battery power; will not even play through one CD. Since no power cord comes with the unit, you must find your own. I expected a much better product based on the reviews and consider this a total waste of money.
Oct 28, 2020 10:46Play your classic tapes with this GPX cassette player. The AM/FM radio lets you tune in to your favorite station, while the included stereo earbuds support private listening. This GPX cassette player has a built-in microphone, enabling clear sound capture when recording, and the analog volume control offers seamless operation.
I'm very satisfied with this product. I wanted an inexpensive tape cassette player and this also has a built-in AM-FM radio which was a bonus. It's not a high-tech item but it does the job I wanted it for and the radio was an added extra I wasn't looking for but glad to have it.
May 21, 2021 17:13Looks good but the sound is not good, the old one had better sound that this one.
Mar 12, 2021 15:54Basic cassette player, purchased it to play some of my 80s tunes. Good memories.
Oct 31, 2020 06:52I was disappointed with this radio - ONLY - because it does - NOT - have FM stereo - I am not talking about the 1 speaker on the front of the unit - I am talking plugging in a head set - THERE IS NO FM STEREO it is - MONO - I will end up keeping it around the house in case the power goes out - BUT STILL - 20.00 plus tax - NOT COOL -
Apr 18, 2020 12:38The day that I received this cassette player, I was so excited. The evening that I received this item, put in batteries, it did not play, I was sad, thought I would have to send it back. The next day before I boxed it up, I decided to try it one more time, it played and continues to play. Because it was cold, it needed time to warm up. I LOVE IT!
Feb 06, 2021 15:16Nice product- convenient size - ease of use - good price
Feb 12, 2021 16:28Cassette playets are hatd to come.by and best buy didnt dissapoint with ths am/fm combo.
