    Nice!

This printer IS an all in one. I can print from anywhere, scan to my computer, and copy.

So what's different than any other all in one you ask. 1) touch screen navigation 2) true color representation 3) does it pretty fast.

I'm in school, online and have to print off a ton of reading material (yea I'm ole school - see it, touch it, feel it), it's great that I don't have to wait forever until its finished. Loading paper is very easy, the arm on the paper tray can be retracted when not needed.

I haven't tried pictures or card stock yet, but I'm fairly sure that this Pro will come through .

Fast, easy to use and great quality prints!

Great SOHO all in one printer. Its fast and does everything you want, prints, copies, scans, faxes documents in black or color.

It was extremely easy to setup, just turn on, open the inner door, and then install each one of the included inks (3 for color and one black), afterwards it will ask you to print an alignment page which you then have it scan so it can tune up the printer heads. Afterwards, you can finish the setup either on a PC by downloading the HP smart app from the windows app store or you can do it also on your phone downloading the same app from your phone’s app store. I chose to do it with my PC, it will detect the printer and then ask you to enter your Wi-Fi credentials, so the printer connects to your network. Then you can create a HP account (or if you already have one login) and then it will automatically give you an extra year of warranty and 12 months of free ink replacement!! (it does it in the form of 6 months free and then gives you $30 credit, which is worth another 6 months), you do have to enter a credit card info (does not charge you, however it’s needed for when the 12 month free period ends, then it will auto ship you ink, and you can choose your plan, and the great thing is it does it based on printed pages.

The printer is amazingly fast, and I love the dual sided print feature, that makes me save so much on paper! Blacks are inky black, and colors are vibrant and defined (paper quality also matters here, so get a quality ink printer paper).

I love that the scanner/copy feature has two ways to do it, either with the traditional scanner flat bed, or it also has an auto feeder tray, so you do not have to do one paper at the time, it automatically feeds the scanner/copier. It also has fax port; however, I have not tried it yet, I have not had the need to fax something, but I am sure it is like any other fax machine.

Just an FYI, on my initial setup, the printer downloaded a firmware update and upon restart the HP smart app on my PC would not recognize the printer anymore, and then the printer on screen display would keep saying I had to finish setup, which I had done already, it would not let me print anything due this. I battled it out a hole night, doing a factory reset, re setting up the printer and nothing. I gave up. However, then next morning I decided to try it out again (I had unplugged it for the night) and I plugged it back again and everything was back to normal. So, I think unplugging it and plugging it back again made ok after the update, so If you have this same issue, remember to restart it like that after you see a firmware update (make sure it finishes it completely, do not interrupt it!).

    Printing from everywhere!

HP Office-jet Pro 8035 All-in One Printer is a smart and easy printer to use. I have had many printers over the years and this printer is without a doubt the easiest one I’ve ever set up.

Out of the box all I had to was follow a link in the instructions on my IPhone or computer and download the HP printer app. Once downloaded the App walks you through the setup process. The printer can be setup through a standard printer cable directly to your computer, Network cable or wirelessly for multiple users to use.

This is a full service printer with printing, scanning, copying and is even Alexa enabled. It has a clear fairly large LED touch screen to work the scanner, copy functions, view ink levels and other setup tools. As a bonus it includes free 8 months of Insta Ink which is great.

The print quality is excellent and very quick and is the best HP home office printer I have ever had.

Workhorse HP B&W Laser Printer At A Mini Price

HP LaserJet M209dwe is a wireless black-and-white laser printer that includes six months of toner through subscription with HP, and is priced at $150 from Best Buy. Features include a small footprint, up to 30 ppm, 600 dpi output, dual-band Wi-Fi, built-in duplexer, a monthly duty cycle of up to 20,000 pages and up to 150-sheet input tray.

    **WHAT’S IN THE BOX**

    • Printer, power cord, starter toner cartridge for up to about 700 pages

    • Quick start guide, warranty

    **THE SETUP**

Like all modern name-brand printers, setup is simple and seamless across computers and mobile devices.

NOTE – This model does not include an ADF (Automatic Document Feeder). If needed, opt for the higher-level HP Printer with a 40-page ADF and the same 20,000 monthly duty cycle, LaserJet M234sdwe, $200.

Setup is through a smartphone (with downloaded HP Smart app). Printer sharing across the network and high-quality scanning is though the HP Smart app. Share to email, Google Drive, Dropbox or the cloud from anywhere where your device has signal.

Absent are a display and a glass platen on which to place documents for scanning and the ability to act as a copier. This is a PRINTER, not a copier, scanner or fax. More on this later.

Following the quick start, I added it to my Wi-Fi. Software found the printer, asked if I wanted to add it in my existing HP app and so on. To those new to HP, it will be just as simple.

All devices are now set up to access this new printer, allowing its placement in the most convenient location. Adding users is easy.

Amazon Alexa compatibility is also built in by launching the Alexa mobile app and linking the mobile HP app account.

For those without an existing HP account, the final step is to create one, including a credit card with billing information. Without it, the printer will not operate through the HP app nor will the owner be able to set up HP+ ink program.

Six months of free toner is available with activation of HP+. This requires a credit card and can be cancelled at any time. When the printer’s supplies monitor senses toner running low to about 20%, the user is automatically sent a free replacement cartridge based on printing up to 1500 pages per month. After the trial period, users are eligible to purchase genuine HP toner cartridges at up to 50% off retail cost, or cancel and find replacement toner without this program. Activation also includes a 2-year extended warranty.

    **PUT TO THE TEST**

Once set up, and as expected, using this printer with its small footprint was a pleasure for everyone. From the time the print command was executed, the first sheet was produced in about 7 seconds from a cold start in sleep mode. Impressive. And it continued to crank out a series of double-sided 215-page tech manuals time after time. Now, THAT is impressive to watch.

I continued to print in an effort to deplete the starter toner cartridge, triggering automatic replacement. After almost nonstop printing a total of 878 pages, of which 437 were duplex sheets (found in the Web-based printer page), the printer triggered a replacement cartridge to be sent, for which we were notified by email.

Even without setting up the app, I was able to print from all our computers by adding this printer as any other would be added in settings. There was nothing to consciously download as both MacOS and Windows 10 had what was needed. The same was true when printing directly from mobile phones and iPad. From the pages I wanted to print, I did as always, sending selected pages to the printer and choosing one-sided or duplex.

I printed documents from Windows and Mac computers, Android and Apple iPhones, using the standard protocols as well as through the Alexa app on mobile devices.

For Android phones, this printer is also compatible with the Mopria protocols and app. Look up “Mopria Print Service” for more information.

Need to copy, then print documents? Use the HP mobile app or built-in scanning options on your phone, then print to the HP. As a workaround, it works! If you need to do a lot of scanning, get a dedicated document scanner, many of which do a better, faster job than any consumer or small business targeted all-in-one printer.

The HP Smart app is beautifully designed. From the main page, click Copy to use your smartphone camera to smart scan documents, auto-figuring borders, and then print. The Print Documents button pulls from the cloud or the phone, then prints. After setup, Mobile Fax provides in-app e-faxing right from your phone IF you have a phone line from which the document can show as the sender’s fax as I do. Camera Scan uses the smart phone camera to scan documents, or electronically scan existing files. And SO MUCH MORE.

We have placed it next to our larger HP All-In-One color inkjet printer where it is now the default household printer. The cost to print each black and white page compared with the cost of color printing on our other HP is relatively small.

    **CONCLUSION**

Incredibly reasonably priced, HP LaserJet M209dwe is as easy to set up and use as any I have encountered and its speedy, crisp 600 dpi black and white output is as good as any I have seen at even twice the price. While it lacks some features as detailed above, most notably a display and ADF, these omissions are forgiven due to the low cost. Besides, the missing display is not needed because everything required for printing is in the app. From desktop computers, printing is by the same method as any other printer. Send the document to the printer and print. This little workhorse is small enough to fit where others will not. If you want a little printer that will exceed your expectations at its price, buy this HP.

    **WARRANTY**

    HP two-year warranty.

    Simple yet Amazing Laser Printer!

I own an HP InkJet printer and have always heard great things about laser printers. Not only do you get more prints out of them, but laser printers also print faster, produce sharper text, and you will not have to worry about ink drying out. As someone who usually only prints documents with text, this printer has been so far an excellent addition to my office.

In the box, you get the printer, the cover tray, reference guide, and warranty information. The printer is surprisingly small and light which is excellent to move around for areas with limited space. Set-up can be done by downloading the HP Smart app on your phone or computer. Then all you would need to do is follow the on-screen instructions to complete your set-up. I had everything set-up in less than 15 minutes! Both phone and PC applications had an easy-to-follow UI and seemed to integrate well with the printer.

Note that this printer only prints black and white. As someone who only prints documents with text, this printer was perfect for me. Laser printers tend to print sharper text, and I can first hand say this is true. All the documents I printed out had sharp and clear text which made them stand out much more. The printer also prints vastly quicker compared to my InkJet which is perfect when printing multiple documents. This printer prints up to 29 pages per minute!

This printer is also eligible for HP+. HP+ provides many benefits if you are printing daily. You get to enjoy an extra one year of extra warranty and 6 months of free toner. You can also save up to 50% off Instant Ink. Instant Ink delivers ink or toner to your door if your printer’s ink or toner is running low. You also get access to premium features in the HP smart app.

In conclusion, this printer has been an exceptional addition to my office. I print mostly text documents and my documents have never looked better. The printer doesn’t take up much space which is great for smaller areas! The only thing I would’ve liked included on this printer is a digital screen but at this price point, I don’t mind the buttons. If you are looking for a new black and white printer that prints at amazing speeds and prints clearer text, this HP printer may be for you.

Great small business Duplexing b/w printer w/app

The HP Smart app was something you can get from the Microsoft Store, and install that way, so no need for a CD drive to install.

The instructions are pretty minimal, and shows some pictures of what to do, rather than a lengthy paragraph. Initial setup was slightly glitchy for me, and I had to unplug the printer and restart the process a couple times (including my computer), before both the computer & printer were able to recognize each other. This was in an office building, where we share the same wifi, which should not matter, but for whatever reason, the app and the printer were not recognizing the new printer. So if the app says it cannot find another printer, and you click the refresh button in the app when searching, restart your computer and printer. To get it to pair, you have to hold the wifi button and the X button until the lights illuminate, then it is in a pairing mode. If you click X or something else, the lights turn off, and you cannot get it to re-search for a network, as you must now unplug it and start over. It has dual-band WiFi with Self-Reset, so it is fast, once connected and will reconnect if issues arise with your router/wifi.

NOTE: Disconnect from any VPN that you may be on. It will not recognize the local wireless network if you are on a VPN. This was not my issue, but it does say this as a requirement.

The dimensions are 8” tall and 14” wide, and 16 ¾” deep (including the input paper tray.

This monochromatic (i.e. black/grey) printer is pretty quick, clear (600x600 resolution), and holds up to 150 pages to print on, but only holds 100 printed pages. Not sure why they did that, but 100 pages is still a lot of pages. I cant remember the last time I printed more than 100 pages without going to take them out of the printer. The 1st page takes 7 seconds to print (single sided). It is a really fast duplexing printer as well. My other canon printer takes longer to print than this one.

The toner says it will last for about 1500 pages per month. I have not hit that yet, but I believe they rate it on typical printing of word documents, and not large images. Once you are getting to 20% of black toner remaining, HP will automatically send you more ink/toner. That is actually pretty nice. You get the ink delivered for up to 50% less than retail price. So if you dread the “I have to spend a ton of money to buy more ink,” this will help on your budget and peace of mind. You have to add a credit card to enroll in the HP Instant Ink. This model is supposed to be using 20% less energy than the previous model, and more than prior models before that.

HP+ printer comes with a 6-month subscription of free toner with HP Instant ink, as well as a 2-yr extended HP warranty, after you activate an HP+ account. The account is required to be set up, before you can start printing anything. I wanted to do 4.5 stars because of the requirement for setting up an account, but I see the benefits of having the account, when it comes to the included additional features. I just wish it would not be required to register your information, if you don't want to, but if you ARE required to, in order to use the printer for what you bought it for. You cannot print a page until you register and set up an account. Yes, you get a free 6-mo ink subscription, but that should be an add-on feature, not a requirement. You also get 24 months of advanced HP Smart app features, as well as an additional 1-year of HP warranty. That 24 months includes the ability to send mobile faxing, which is kind nice if you are a newer business and don’t have a fax machine. No need to buy a fax machine if you have the HP App.

Printing from your phone is another option, using the HP Smart App. I have Google drive and Microsoft OneDrive, so I can open and print from my phone. What is a great freebie is the scan functionality in the HP Phone App. Google has a similar scan feature, but the HP Smart App has the ability to scan and send directly to the printer. It allows you to crop and skew the image, if you don’t take a picture directly flat/parallel to the item you are scanning. I can save it as a PDF or image, and it will auto/manually crop to the edge of the document. So scanning a signed document is quick and easy. The app allows you to email/save to cloud/etc once you scan it (take a photo of a document).

The HP LaserJet M209dwe uses an HP 134A Black Toner Cartridge. 1 is provided for you, in the box.

    Beautiful Laser Printer w/ 6mo HP+

    Overall

Amazing printer/copy machine—an excellent basic small (home) office product. Like all other wireless capable smart featured HP printers, the HP Smart app is a requirement. Not only for connecting the printer the first time but also for its mobile features, especially with a printer like this that doesn’t offer a scanner. But once set up it seems to pop up as an active network printer on all my Windows computers. That said, the HP Smart app adds several camera scanning options such as mobile fax and camera scan.

Not much on the actual unit in terms of user interface. There’s 4 buttons, power, X (cancel), Feed (downward arrow), and ! (Information) On the back you have your typical Ethernet jack and USB Type B interface. The paper jam removal points are a bit oddly placed. On the bottom just before the feed rollers there's a small notch, press and release the tray. The second is along the back, shift a slider and drop the door. But after sending a print to the scanner with the door open I noticed the paper path is not along this door. The internal cover, which is not removable, conceals that path. Pressing the ! button reveals that the printer is connected to internet while it throws a message at the very top saying it isn’t.

    Pros:

Relatively easy setup. Pairing to a mobile phone/tablet Android or iOS is extremely straightforward and just works as long as you’re on the same network.

WiFi direct makes things far simpler as long as you are within the printers range. Just connect to its SSID using the pin it prints when you press the “!” button.

    Solid construction.

High quality speedy prints for every type of file. Document, web page, and pictures.

    Cons:

The paper tray comes with an odd 2 piece design. The top piece clips in and covers the top and sides while the back is left completely open. I thought enclosed trays were meant to keep dust out.

    An Absolutely Fine Laser Printer

HP - LaserJet M209dwe Wireless Black-and-White Laser Printer

I received this printer not sure whether I would like it or not. Well, if all needed to print was black and white documents I would give it ten stars. I do have a Multi Purpose Laser Printer that copies, scans and prints in color so the M209dwe is second string.

I have been using Laser Printers since the HP 2P or for approximately 20 years. The M209dwe is really a great printer and an exceptional value.

    Positives

Very light weight - easy to move if needed

Very small footprint - doesn't need a lot space

Wireless - connects easily to the network

Fast Printer even when duplex printing

    Negatives

    Not really anything

    A side note

HP offers this printer with 6 months of printer toner. In doing so you have to have a HP account and HP seems to track pages printed. At the end of 6 months, HP begins its subscription service for toner which you select a plan when you install the printer. You can opt out of the prescription service before the 6 months, but once you do that the toner cartridge will discontinue working and you would have to purchase your own toner cartridge. Kind of quirky but depending on how much printing you do might dictate whether you would want to continue with the subscription. For myself, I doubt if my printing volume would be enough to justify the prescription. This subscription package should not stop anyone from buying this printer.

Compact, powerful, high quality and secured

This is a compact, beautiful, high print quality, fast, wireless, duplex home and office laser printer. Supports 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz wifi. HP+ is very convenient because toner will be shipped to you on demand automatically and the cost depends on your printing volume. HP+ is not mandatory but with HP+, you get 2 years warranty and 6 months free printing up to 1500 pages per month during the 6 months. Every device printing to this printer must have HP Smart app installed, signed in and online. The app maybe occasionally slow however printing has no delay. It has the Require Private Pickup option where files will only be printed when the user confirms their proximity to the printer, very secured.

HP M-209dw A truly wonderful Laser Printer

    Hewlett-Packard M-209e

I have been using Laser printers since the HP 2P, so I am guessing that's around 20 years. This printer is not my only Laser Printer. I also have a multi-function color laser that prints, copies and scans.

The M-209dw basically performs one function very well - it prints black and white documents.

    PROS

Light - Small Footprint -Surprisingly Fast - Duplexes -

    Has an Ethernet Port

    CONS

    The documentation is almost non-existent.

I have not found a USB port.

My final statement is about the 6 months free printing that HP states comes with this printer. It comes with an apparently special toner cartridge only works if you sign up for a toner plan. If you use this printer to print many pagers on a regular basis, it may pay off. When you register the printer, HP guides you to select a laser toner renewal subscription. You can opt out but the cartridge that comes with the printer stops working.

For me, this is new and I wouldn't let this stop me from buying the printer. If it was my only printer, I would be extremely satisfied with it and would have to evaluate the toner subscription plan,. Seeing that is a secondary printer, to belong to a toner subscription plan would not pay off for me. In either case, to use the printer you have to have an account with HP.

    Perfect size

The size of the printer is a winner. Small enough to store and use in tiny offices. Set up is really simple. Mostly plug and play

Wifi connection. App usage is strongly suggested. Black and white printers are great for simple prints and the printing is quick. The paper try hold a large amount of blank paper, so refills are far & few between. The ink cartridge is the only large thing about the printer but easy to remove & replace. Over all great compact printer with good printer quality.

    Surprisingly good Multifunction Printer.

    Surprised with Brother again.

So I currently own their Laser Printer HL-L2360DW and have owned this for over 5 years now. Have gone through 2 toners and no problems yet. My old laser product has been discontinued BTW so that tells you how long I have had it.

So this MFC-J4335DW has initial likes with me. Set up was simple. I had an initial confusion with Wifi setup. But then again the instructions were not 100% clear here but I got past that. After that setup with mobile was a snap. Also note to Brother the product is not listed in the check box when registering the product probably because this is a brand new product and website my not be updated with their data base yet. So I picked a product number that fell between this one and it accepted it.

I really really like being able to scan to a cloud based site. I set up a junk user for all my family to scan their school and work stuff to and gave them access to it and it works great.... Scanning was nice. Easy mobile use.

I could not test the fax function. Not many folks use faxes anymore except for medical folks or medical related work.

Front panel button use was easy. Screen was easy to read and instructions were easy to follow as well.

Printing was pretty fast. The huge ink cartridges are a plus. Look at it. It's the size of my palm. Holy cow.

So going back to the my older laser printer. If Brother product stayed the same with the quality, I would think that this printer would stand the test of time as well.

Nicely done Brother. I would recommend this product for home work school use.

    Fast and crisp printing quality

I am very picky when it comes to printers in my home office, especially ink jet printers. This Brother MFCJ4335DW INKvestment Tank Inkjet printer is part of the long line of Brother printers with the new hybrid between standard ink cartridge system and a cartridge/onboard tank. This means that Brother INKvestment Tank printers have expanded ink capacity, therefore offering you more time printing before needing a refill.

I was impressed that although this is a good sized inkjet printer, it was light and not too heavy to move around on my home office. Set up was very simple with plug in, turn on, and follow the simple instructions. Installing the ink cartridges requires you to shake each one up first before installing them into their assigned slot. After ink installation was complete, you are instructed to printing up test pages, scanning the test page, and setting up the WiFi system. The MFCJ4335DW offers fax, scan, copy and web printing capability. The display and control center dominate the printing side of the printer. Here, you see the small LCD display (which also gives you an ink status!), device options, control pad and number keys. It is pretty straight forward, although I have not utilized the fax machine component yet. The right side of the control panel has a nice printing option feature of Stop/Exit, Black or Color.

Connecting this to my WiFi was very simple with the addition of the number pad. I also was able to connect my iPhone to the built in WiFi so that I could print directly onto here. The bottom of the printer has the printer tray as well as the print job tray. I was stunned at the quality of the prints, both color and bw. Equally impressing was when I was using this for single page and double-sided print jobs. It printed multiple pages of both single-sided and double-sided pages in remarkable times. As an inkjet printer, I didn’t see any streaks or noticeable smears. I do use 24lb bright printing paper for additional quality print jobs.

So far, I have found no issues or any area of concerns. This is a very capable and remarkable printer and I highly recommend it for anyone with home office needs or school needs due to distance learning.

    Basic printer with document feeder

    What is in the box.

    4. LC406 Cyan ink cartridge

    5. LC406 Magenta ink cartridge

    2. Loaded 150 sheets of paper

    3. Shake the ink cartridge and install, take 4 minutes to fill tank.

    4. Set date and time on display

    5. Check Print Quality

    6. Check Print alignment

    Device setup, download from setup.Brother.Com

You can setup either by WiFi or USB wired.

    What can the printer do.

    Borderless printing

    Automatic Duplexing

    FAX

Ink cartridges print pages 3,000 Black 1,500 Color Standard Capacity

6,000 Black 5,000 Color Extra Capacity

The print quality is excellent, print speed is good, make sure you have the page holder extended or else it will end up on the floor. The basic setup went off without a problem, just a little time consuming.

Making copies from the unit. Automatic duplexing is not available from the sheet feeder. You must insert the page on the glass then turn it over and re-insert it.

I did not test the fax part. No land line available at my location.

I rated this unit 4 stars because I could not find on the box or in the packaging information as to duty cycle, pages printed per minute, and the fact that it does not do automatic duplexing from the sheet feeder.

I would not recommend this unit to a small business. It is however well suited for a home/dorm printer.

    Great For The Home Office

I'm really pleased with thisprinter's speed and design. It's like the ones at the work office, but great for my hoome office. easy to setup on my pc, once the wifi is connected, of course. Unfortunately, I'm still having issues connecting it to my phone and chromebooks. Everything is in a place where it's pretty accessible from my pcanyway. So that's really not much of a problem. The toner cartriges are easy to install and it is said that they should last about a year , but that's rwith moderate use. Scanning is quick and easy as well. With easy to read desplay and very accessible button layout there isn't a problem getting things done. From printing to scanning and even faxing , you can get it done with this $149.99 USD home office printer. If it were just a little easier to connect my other devices(phone/chromebook) I would give this a 5 star rating. But you can't go wrong with this affordable machine thatalso makes it a snap to get ink delivered on time, simply by signing up for the program. I do recommend this printer for you home offive use.

    Super quick set up

I have had a printer that for some reason, my laptop refused to connect to. I was also always buying ink of one color or another.

This was super fast to set up and I was printing from my laptop right away. It connected to my wifi right quickly in a few simple steps

The colors are good, I can select black and white if needed to save on color ink.

They say the ink will last a year. We will see if that is true! I don't print daily or even weekly but it will be nice to know the ink is ready to go.

    Expected quality

All in all the experience i have had from this printers is on par with what i was expecting. The this printers does everything that i was expecting it to do, but in a much more compact design. Usually, all in ones seem to be bulky and almost too big to easily move around. This printer is everything but, quiet, compact and speedy. Set up was a breeze too and with its efficient ink management its bound to be a money saver in the long run. If you are looking for a middle of the road, all in one this printers is a must have for the price point due to its ease of set up, compactness and its ink efficiency.

    Great multi-function printer

This printer is excellent, especially when you get tired of doing spontaneous frequent ink cartridge replacement. I have printed many pages so far, and there is still plenty of ink in the ink containers. After removing all shipping items from the printer, I plugged the printer and followed the simple instructions. I placed the ink containers in the printer and proceeded with downloading and installing the appropriate driver for this specific printer on the Brother website. The entire setup did not take more than 20 minutes, and I could also print from my mobile phone. I like the Brother Mobile Connect App that allows the users to print from anywhere with a mobile device. You can also use your phone to scan, copy and photograph prints. The print quality is very sharp, excellent color prints, and deep rich dark blacks. My wife uses the printer for last-minute print photos for her book collage projects; she loves how colorful the photo prints come out. Scanning is easy and quick with the front panel button. I do not have a landline at my office, so I can't comment on the fax feature. I am pleased with this printer's multi-functionality, print quality, sharp and clear prints, and impressive printing speed.

    The printers a 5, the installs a 3

I own 3 other Brother printers, so I thought getting this one up and running would be easy. I thought wrong. I open the box and found the Brother MFCJ4335DW INKvestment Tank Inkjet Printer, 4 starter ink cartridges (black, cyan, yellow, and magenta) and a power cord. I made room for the printer and got to installing. I installed my Android phone first via Wi-Fi. No big deal. I downloaded the app from the Play Store and installed the drivers. It saw the printer and connected. I loaded a PDF and printed it. I thought It was one page, but it said 1/1 and was 56 pages. I hit the stop/cancel button on the printer, and it quit printing and ejected the partially printed page. So that works, now for the PC. I figure it would be a breeze since the phone worked so quickly. I should have known better.

I used the provided link to download the full package software suite from the Brother website and installed it. Well, unzipped it and it started the installer. I got to where it asks if I want to install it via Wi-Fi or USB. I chose Wi-Fi and it couldn’t find the printer. I tried several times, then I tried a bunch more times with the USB cable attached when the software asked me to do so. Doing that allowed me to enter my Wi-Fi network information and then go right back to, can’t find the printer. After about an hour of this, I gave up. I came back in the morning with a fresh set of eyes and decided to search for the printer on the Brother website. I found it and downloaded the recommended full package as well as a tool called Wireless Setup Helper. I ran the helper and it didn’t see my Wi-Fi network. I tried it about 3 times and then it did. I left that open and ran the full package installer. Hey, what do you know, there’s my new printer without needing the USB cord attached? Just hit next it says. I do and then it finished. That took all of a few minutes and I was up and running. I fired up a PDF and sent it to the printer where it printed a color cover great.

What I like about the printer. It prints great. I like the LCD screen but know that it’s not touch. You need to use the direction keys next to the display. Installing the ink was a no-brainer and Brother didn’t attach a large plastic throw-away piece like many other manufacturers that I’ve used do, kudos Brother! The paper tray holds 150 sheets which works well for me, YMMV. I also like that it works with Windows and Mac, listing the latest versions, 7–10; server 2008-2019 and 11 respectively.

What I don’t like is the lack of a touchscreen. Using a keypad right next to the LCD is cumbersome. Where touchscreen allows you to read and go, using it as a guide allows for error and or trying to locate the button that corresponds with what the tiny screen is trying to instruct the user to do. Basically, it causes a loss of time and user frustration. Also, this unit doesn’t have a LAN port. It connects via USB 2.0 and Wi-Fi very well (once you get Wi-Fi installed), but no wired network connection.

So, this all in one does scan, copy, print, and fax (do people still fax???). It prints fast and very well. Color looked great on plain generic white inkjet paper. Brother offers the automatic ink service through what they call refresh@ Brotherrefreshink.com I do like the fact that unlike some of its competitors, Brother’s program is a pay-as-you-go service. Signing up is free. The box states up to 1 year of ink in-box, but I’ve yet to figure out if that means free ink for a year and if so, how do I enable that? As of this review, I’m unable to register the printer with my other Brother products as it’s too new and hasn’t been added to the drop-down menu. I’ve emailed a representative, but I haven’t received a reply as to when it will be available.

So, my opinion is: as usual I really like Brother printers. My history with them is that their ink is reasonable, and I don’t have to use 3rd party ink unless I choose to. I’d recommend this printer but know that you may run into some setup issues on a Windows PC, at least I did. But other than that, it works great. Oh, I forgot to mention, so here it is. The printer works with Google Drive, Evernote, Dropbox, Box, OneDrive, OneNote, and Brother Cloud apps. It also scans to Office.

    Excellent Printer

Excellent printer. I mean, that really does sum it up. Not only does it do a great job printing, but it saves sssooooo much money in ink cartridges. According to Business Insider, printer ink in cartridge format costs considerably more than human blood. How crazy is that?

Each ink bottle is the equivalent of 90 ink cartridges. I don't know about you, but I always lamented running low on ink and the thought or dropping $35 to $55 for three or four replacement cartridges. In some cases, it almost made more sense to buy a new printer and just toss the old one. Multiply that by 90 and yeah, that is a LOT of $$. On Epson's website, you can buy all 4 replacement cartridges for less than $60 and I'm sure if you shopped wisely, you will find it for less. I'll let you do the math, but yes, that is HUGE savings.

While it's hard to tell specific cost savings because everyone uses the printers differently, I do have some experience with the Epson EcoTank platform (picture attached) because I have had the Epson EcoTank 3760. I have had it since July 2020. I ran a diag on it today... since then, I have printed 365 pages of which 99 were in color. As you can see from the picture (ET-3760), the black has barely used 1/4 tank and the 3 color tanks have barely moved. Again, think of the savings.

The Epson EcoTank offers a clean app for printing from phone and is simple to set up as a network printer. As mentioned, we have two EcoTank printers on our network and setup and choosing which printer to use is super-easy.

Set up was simple, but not particularly quick and I am perfectly OK with that. Each tank took between 2 to 2.5 minutes to fill. Well worth it considering the savings. Connecting to network was a breeze. Tuning the ink jets was also a little time consuming but completely worth it given the savings.

We also have a couple printers that offer "subscription" cartridge services and I absolutely attest that this EcoTank environment is much preferred both for convenience and for money savings.

End of the day, I RARELY give 5 stars, but for the Epson EcoTank 3830, I am honestly having a hard tome finding faults. Excellent choice.

I would (and HAVE) recommend to friends without any hesitation. I end where I started... Excellent printer.

**PLEASE NOTE** This product was provided to me at reduced or no charge in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. This review is exactly that, honest and unbiased.

Small Form Factor And Ink Efficient

The Epson ET-3830 is a multi-function inject printer with a small form factor. A change from the norm is that this printer doesn’t use ink cartridges. It has tanks inside the printer that you refill. The refills are bottles of ink. Each bottle contains far more ink than the traditional ink cartridge. Filling the internal tanks using the bottles is simple to do. Also, while filling the tanks I didn’t have any mess or leaks from the bottles. This is a nice design by Epson. I should be saving quite a lot compared to traditional ink cartridges. The set of starter bottles of ink that come with the printer are full bottles. When you initially setup the printer, it will fill tubes with some of the ink. After it filled the tubes, I was left with a little over 75% of ink in the tanks. Using the remaining ink from each bottle, the tanks ended up with 100% cyan, magenta, and yellow. The black tank was back up to about 85%. It’s not wasting the ink, it’s just that a portion of it is in the tubes that connect to the print head.

The 3830 has a flatbed scanner, but no document feeder. You have the option for duplex printing and this can carry over to duplex printing for documents that you copy. Perform a copy of one side of a page, the printer prints it, pulls the printed page back into the printer, then you flip the original copied page over, it scans it, then prints it out on the back of the printed page. I didn’t have any problems with this, but for those who need to copy many pages at a time, you may be better off with a different model from Epson. If you mostly copy a few pages, then you may be ok with this model.

Duplex printing in a multi-function printer of this size is a great feature that others of similar form factor may not have. General printing of text is fast. The text on plain paper is very clear and the characters are well defined resulting in a clear printed page. It can also print edge to edge. I was able to print a photo on plain paper edge to edge. I won’t be using this printer for photos, but it’s nice to know I can add in photo paper and print a photo if I need to.

The printer setup took me about 10 minutes. That’s getting through network configuration, print head alignment, and updating the firmware. Epson has a mobile app that also works with the printer. I used the iOS version without issues to get the printer setup on my network. The color LCD screen on the printer isn’t a touch screen, but next to it Epson added a set of buttons that enable you to navigate the menu system. I didn’t have a problem using the buttons and they were responsive for me.

The box and packaging were more than sufficient to protect the printer. Within the box you’ll find the printer, power cable, full black/cyan/yellow/magenta ink bottles, a CD, and a quick start guide.

Overall, I’m impressed with the new design that does away with ink cartridges. I’ll be saving money in the long run with this new design. It has all the features I need such as duplex printing, scanning, copying, and wireless networking. I would like to see Epson add a touch screen in the future, but that is the only negative I can mention about the ET-3830. I would recommend this printer to anyone needing an all-in-one printer, but doesn’t need a document feeder.

    Good Little Printer!

The Epson - EcoTank ET-3830 All-in-One Cartridge-Free Supertank Printer is a well-designed printer with an easy-to-use color display and a well-executed set of functions that are easy to understand and figure out. Not only that I love the idea of a printer with tanks that you just fill up with ink bottles. What the heck took so long for printer manufacturers to come up with this idea? While I would much rather see printers have standard document feeders that can scan 15 pages at a time. Other than that I am very impressed with this Epson Eco=Tank printer. The small color on-screen settings functions were the easiest to navigate that I have seen and were simple to understand. I really appreciated the effort that was put in there. It did not take much time to get the printer up and running and the smartphone app and wireless capabilities are greatly appreciated. Another thing that I have never seen and really appreciate is a full slide-out paper tray for printed-out material. It is very well designed and thought out which seems to be an ongoing theme with this printer. This is my first Epson printer but I like what I am seeing. I would definitely recommend one to a friend or family member and has also caught my interest when looking for a new printer in the future!

Great Printer for home or home office

The Epson EcoTank ET3830 is perfect for home user or home office user. It prints clear and quickly. It’s packed extremely well. My box was a little dented on one corner, but the printer was unscathed. Included in the box – Quick setup guide, 5 bottles of ink (Black, yellow, cyan, magenta, and blue) and installation CD. The ink included should last up to 2 years according to the Epson EcoTank ET-3830 specifications.

Setup was easy. The Epson EcoTank CD can be used for installation or you can download the installation file from the internet if you don’t have a CD/DVD reader. I downloaded the .exe file and installation instructions were easy to follow. During Setup you can decide whether you want to connect through WiFi or USB. I chose WiFi as my printer is in a different room from my laptop. Network wireless connection setup was quick and easy as the Epson EcoTank recognized my router’s IP address in less than a minute. Better and a lot quicker than my previous printers.

The Epson EcoTank printer has a 2.4” LCD screen for all the various functions. Unfortunately, it’s not a touch screen so you have to use arrows to navigate through the different functions. The print is also very small and can sometimes be difficult to read. There is plenty of room on the front of the printer for a larger LCD screen.

Filling the printer with the included ink is even quicker than changing cartridges. The ink automatically stops when the respective color tank is full. Navigation through the display icons allows you to copy, print, scan, and perform any maintenance functions.

The Epson EcoTank ET-3830 does not have a fax. Its functions are only copy/print/scan which is perfect for most users. I don’t have a landline so it’s fine for me.

The Epson EcoTank ET-3830 can also be operated through a cell phone app. The Epson Smart Panel app can be downloaded from Google Play or Apple App Store. With the Epson Smart Panel app, you can access all the functions of the printer from print to trouble shooting and everything in between. Printer settings are also available on the Smart Panel app. Connecting the app to the printer is as easy as search and connect. It took me less than a minute to connect the Smart Panel app to my Android Smartphone. The Epson Smart Panel app also allows guests to access the printer by simply scanning a bar code from your phone to the guest’s phone. No password is needed which makes the connection secure.

    PROS summary –

    - Exclusive EcoFit ink bottles make filling tanks easy and without any mess

    - Can print up to 7500 b/w and 6,000 color pages without refilling the tanks. This is approximately equal to 90 single ink cartridges.

    - Ink can last up to 2 years before having to refill the tanks.

    - Save money from having to buy separate ink cartridges.

    - Paper tray can hold up to 250 sheets at one time.

    - Printer can accept several different sizes, including photo paper and envelopes.

    - Epson Smart Panel app can access the printer in every way; print, copy, scan, maintenance, etc.

    CONS summary –

    - Epson Photo + - windows app can only accept up to 260 characters in the address bar for importing photos. This makes it impossible to import photos in subfolders that result in more than 260 characters.

    - Epson Photo + windows app also can only open a .etdx extension file, which is a template within the app. It does have several templates to arrange photos but is limited to the number of characters in the address bar. Hopefully Epson will change this in the future with an update to the Epson Photo + app.

    - The LCD on the Epson EcoTank ET-3830 printer is very small, only 2.4”. There is enough space on the front panel that it could be made bigger for easier viewing.

The Epson EcoTank ET-3830 is a very good printer/copier/scanner for the home and/or home office for the fact that it uses ink tanks instead of ink cartridges. Thus, saving you a lot of money on separate cartridges. I do recommend this printer for the savings as well as the clarity of printed matter and photos.

As for the Epson Photo + photo app, if you’re more than just a “take a picture and print” type of photographer, I suggest using a different photo app for importing and editing photos. The Epson Photo + app could be an excellent photo app, but Epson needs to allow the opening of ALL picture types (.jpg, .jpeg, etc.). Epson should also tweak the app to allow an unlimited amount of characters in the address bar instead of just 260 characters.

Ink for months! Fast and Reliable Wireless Printer

This Epson EcoTank 3830 was really quick and easy to set up. The printer comes with all the ink bottles you’ll need to fill the tanks. Epson claims you’ll get over 6,000 black/white and color pages out of these tanks. I can’t speak for those claims yet because I’ve only been using it for about a week but I believe it. My friend has a similar printer and hasn’t had to refill it yet and its been almost a year. You can download an app that will guide you through the set up, and you can also use the same app to print photos and documents as well as scan. It will also update the firmware for the printer for you. The printer prints really quick. It printed a full color page for me in less than 5 seconds. It honestly surprised me! The printer has a pull out tray that holds at least 100 pages. I was also able load 4x6 photo paper into that tray and print photos with it. The 4x6 photo print wasn’t the best quality, but it looks good to my eyes. I honestly think the app compresses the photo you are going to print when you transfer it wirelessly. Perhaps EPSON can update the app to allow higher quality photo prints on 4x6 paper.

As far as filling the tanks with ink, It was very easy to do and did not cause any mess. I was worried I might spill some ink when filling it. The bottles have rubber stoppers that open and close when you put them on the printer refill slots. I’m very pleased with this printer and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a fast, high quality printer for their home or small business. It prints very fast, and I have not had any connection errors. The wireless printing has been very stable and reliable. Printing from your phone, tablet or computer is super easy with this printer.

Pros: Fast, Reliable, Wireless capabilities, Long lasting affordable ink

    Cons: No complaints from me

Clear printing, wastes paper and ink

So we were excited using this Epson ET-3830 as it comes with 1 year free ink. We soon realized that we would need a refill sooner than expected.

    Pros:

This printer is a little more compact than other printers we have had. It leaves a smaller area foot print and is lighter than others. The paper feed tray is directly underneath and you don’t need to feed it from a back tray, thus preventing jams. I like also that the feeder tray for a completed print is the size of a normal 8.5x11 paper and can be adjusted forward.

Connecting it to my home wifi was such a breeze, probably the easiest of any printer as I can input my information via the app on my smart phone and not have to use the small display on the printer. The print quality is really clear and smooth, especially for a ink-jet printer. Setting it up and connecting it using the Epson app was an enjoyable experience because it sets up like a text message feed.

And that’s where things got frustrating…

    Cons:

Set up again was a breeze…but it took over 10 minutes because there was so many steps to do. This was the first time I’ve used an Epson printer that required me to fill the ink cartridges once I open it from the box. Each of the four color cartridges comes with a bottle of ink that you physically have to fill (which takes approx 75 seconds to fill). The ink fill was not the worst or it.

Printing out the adjustment pages was what was very annoying. I printed up 5 pages of comparisons that you need to judge in order to adjust and calibrate, almost like going to the Optometrist (1 or 2, 3 or 4, etc). All of this calibration could’ve been concentrated on less pages.

Another frustrating point, was I did not use that much ink on this calibration set up, and already the ink levels dropped 20%! I had left over ink in the bottles and ended up using all of them and it still did not fill the cartridges all the way! I’m afraid to see how much is used on a daily/weekly basis with printing. I see now that the 1-year free would come in handy.

Overall, I was very disappointed with this Epson ET-3830 for the reasons of wasting paper in initial set up and the ink usage for just a small amount of printing.

Great printer, wish the LCD was touch

Just opened the Epson ET-3830. The box contains the printer, a large bottle of black ink and 3 regular sized color inks, yellow, cyan and magenta, and a 110v power cord. I got the printer unboxed and out of the plastic, set it up on the desk and grabbed a handful of paper. Then I opened the setup guide because I always seem to struggle setting up printers. I see that there are two options, either by PC or with a smart phone. I chose to try my Android phone and scan the QR code in the quick set up guide. It takes me to Epson’s Smart Panel app in the play store and installs it. Does it work you ask? Yup, it sure does.

I start up the app and just follow the prompts. It is set up like a text message from a friend. You just go step by step and by the end the printer is ready to print and is connected to your Wi-Fi. Adding ink to the EcoTank is a breeze. The bottles have two tabs that fit into slots/ports on the printer so there isn’t any mess. They take a minute or so to fill up and auto stop when the tank is full regardless of whether the bottle still has ink in it. That leads to less waste since the bottles print so many more sheets than a print cartridge. There are 5 tests to make sure it is aligned. I did them all, but really didn’t need to. Every choice I was given stayed with the default, but YMMV.

And that’s it. It just works. I can connect wirelessly to my other PC’s, my phone and tablets and my Mac Mini. There is also a USB and Ethernet port in the back should you want to connect it that way. It has auto 2-sided printing and enough ink to print 7500 black ink pages and 6000 color pages. It may seem trivial but having front loading paper is important especially once you’ve used a printer that loads in the top or back. It holds half a ream (250 sheets) allowing for less loading and more productivity. My only disappointment is that the LCD is still not touchscreen. With the icon’s lit up, I forget and try pressing them all the time. Most if not all my other printers have touchscreen controls and I love them. Here, it’s another step or two depending on if I try and press the LCD screen first. If it were the only printer I used, I’m sure it wouldn’t be and issue. Muscle memory would take over after a few uses, but with multiple printers, I never seem comfortable with the directional and ‘ok’ buttons. That said, it’s a tiny inconvenience on an otherwise great printer.

Some details off the box: Scan resolution is 1200x2400 dpi/ppp and print resolution is up to 4800x1200 dpi/ppp. ISO print speed is 15/8.0 ISOppm and two-sided ISO print speed is 6.5/4.5 ISOppm. I haven’t tested it, but the box states it works with Apple AirPrint.

Great Printer, qaulity, cost and function

Not normally an Epson guy but after setting up and using this for a couple of weeks I'm sold. Set up is accomplished via the app, which is super simple. The app walks you through step by step, almost too helpful..

Once set up print a test page, make a few adjustments if needed, it walks you through that too, and viola. One thing I will caution you on, when filling the ink, don't be in a hurry and don't assume it won't drip. They have designed a great product but you will get a small drip after removing the ink bottler from the printer, just be aware.

Printing quality is great for an inkjet type printer. I haven't had time to calculate the cost but the convenience of refilling the unit instead of buying print cartridges certainly appeals to me. I have gone through quite a bit of ink, which included the initial calibration pages.

The scanner and soft wear works flawlessly. I would like the option for a feeder but there is only a flatbed scanner.

Overall, I like the printer, features but am cautiously optimistic about operational costs.

Overall I would recommend this printer, I would upgrade to the model with a feeder if you are planning on scanning many documents.

    Great prints, compact design

This printer needs a smartphone or pc to use all the features, as there is no LCD display, just a few buttons. The basic operations that can be performed without a pc or smartphone just include making either a color or black and white copy. A scan can be activated by pressing both the copy buttons, but only if the scan feature has already been set up with a pc or smartphone.

The lack of an ADF( Automatic Document Feeder) and lcd screen make this machine a little more compact. The printer has a very basic design and look to it and is actually kind of light. The paper tray and inkjet bay are easily accessible from the front of the machine. The scanner lid does have one of those extending hinges, so that books and thicker objects can still fit under the scanner lid.

No LCD makes it seem a little more difficult to set up, but if you follow the directions it will all work out pretty quick. I think it took 3 minutes to set up the printer.

Make sure you check for software updates sometime after you connect to the web, so that you will get the latest features for your product.

The MFC-J1205W creates great photo quality prints, with a max print resolution of 6000 x 1200 dpi.

Scans are good, but seem to lack some contrast and saturation, but that can easily be fixed in the Brother phone app after the scan. The pc app has a few extra scan options that the smartphone app does not have, and these options can be set before the scan takes place. You can still edit the photo after the scan, but with microsoft paint, or one of the other picture edit apps on your pc.

For Scanning, the native dpi is 300, however the machine can produce interpolated resolutions of up to 19200 x 19200 dpi.Interpolation as we are referring to it here, is basically like taking an 8" x 10" photo, and trying to stretch it to fit a 10" x13" frame.Although, it's not as difficult as it sounds. The machine scans an object at its highest native dpi, then it takes that scan and starts to seperate parts of the picture at the pixel level. The machine then takes all the separated parts and social distances them all, so that they are a set number of pixels apart. At the new distance we can fill a 10 x 13" frame, but now there are gaps everywhere. Well here comes the tough part, the machine has to fill all those empty spots with something, so it does it's best job (based on it's software), to guess, or interpolate the colors and lines between the actual image pixels, and then creates filler pixels. These filler pixels are usually pretty close, in fact they are so close that most people will not even know that parts of their picture are made up. Not everyone uses a 19200 x 19200 resolution anyway, so in most cases 300dpi will do just fine, it will have plenty of clarity and details. The much higher resolutions are typically used by professionals. They need these larger file sizes to print large posters, and other large scale projects.

One of the big selling points of this printer is the advertised 1 year of ink included, based on a typical use of 100 pages per month( at 60% black and 40% color).

The new Brother app works great, and gives the user ink levels based on estimated page usage or the ISO-based standards. This way, one could prepare a little better on knowing when to stock up on more ink when their next print job is 50 pages long. ISO is the international standard for organizations, which is based on a 5% overall page coverage area, wherein 5% of the page is imprinted with ink. For example, a short email is roughly 5% page coverage, so if your toner cartridge offers a yield of 1,000 pages, your cartridge can print approximately 1,000 short emails. One full Brother cartridge offers 750+ pages using the ISO method. Obviously Brother does not recommend using 3rd party inks for quality purposes and machine longevity, plus 3rd party inks typically do not include the same yields.

Real cartridge yields can differ based on the purpose, type of the printer and how much ink is in the actual cartridges. A lot of low yield cartridges will produce around 200 prints. The heavy duty office machines and professional photo machines, will typically use cartridges with high yields. The high yield cartridges could produce any amount over 500 pages, some brands promise anywhere from 1000 to 7000 prints. Again this all depends on the mfgr and the amount of ink included in their cartridges. Of course these numbers are only guidelines, there is no way to get an exact number of prints. Actual ink yields can vary depending on the media being printed and the media being printed on. Some papers soak up more ink than others, and some pictures or graphic texts will require more ink for colors, boldness, or designs.

Make sure that when you are printing a picture from your phone or computer that your screen is not set to "vivid" or any other type of enhanced display, otherwise your prints might not be the color you were hoping for. I keep my phone screen on "natural" for the display, which gives me the closest color matches between my phone and the printed results.

This printers advertised print speeds are slightly faster than some of the other competing standard models, but not as fast as the more expensive office or workhorse printers.

The MFC-J1205W advertises 16ppm black, and 9 ppm for color.

I printed 10 pages with a combination of text and small pictures, it took the machine 1 minute and 42 seconds to print 10 pages at standard/normal quality.

I printed the same document at "fine" quality, and it took 16 minutes and 30 seconds. There was a noticeable difference between the "fine" and "normal" prints, but not enough to make me want to waste the extra time and ink.

I printed up 14 pages of just black text, it took 1 minute and 15 seconds.

So we are getting results a little slower than advertised, but the print quality is very good.

Full page color photos on glossy photo paper took about ten minutes to print, and looked like real photos.

I am including a sample of some of my prints in the attached pictures. The paper with "1" in the top right corner is the normal quality print, and the paper with the "2" in the top right corner is the "fine" print. Papers "3" and "4" are from a Brother Laser printer. The "3" print is a laser print with ink saver and eco on. The "4" is normal quality.

I have also including a picture of the magnified print of all 4 print jobs.

I am posting some additional pictures:The Suicide Squad book cover - I scanned this using the default settings, and printed it as is. The scanned and raw print is the page on the left. The book is in the middle, and the enhanced scan is on the right. The scan was edited using the Brother Mobile Connect app, then reprinted on the same paper as the 1st print. Both printed on glossy photo paper.

A picture of a bridge and ducks off of my phone - the picture on the left was direct print, no editing. The picture on the right was edited to enhance the contrast and saturation. Both pictures were printed on glossy photo paper.

A picture of a bowl of ramen - the picture on the left was printed on regular inkjet paper. The picture on the right was printed on glossy photo paper. The picture on the basic paper looks just as good as the one on the photo paper, and it printed all the way to the edge on both types of paper.I am very impressed with the print quality on any type of media with this printer. Most other printers would not do borderless printing on regular paper, plus usually the colors or contrast typically gets washed out when you print a photo onto basic paper, but not here.

Overall I am pretty pleased with what this printer can do. I would have liked an LCD screen somewhere, but it's not like I am going to be using this printer without either my phone or pc, so I should be fine. I like to take and print lots of photos, so I am not naive enough to think that I will be free of buying ink cartridges for the next 12 months, but at least these inks should last longer than my last printer. The print quality is great, and the scanner is just as good at capturing details. As with a lot of scanner and printer models, sometimes you have to edit photos and documents for the best prints. You might find that all your phone photos need the white balance adjusted and the tone slightly fixed. You might see that web images print way too saturated, or that pictures saved on your computer from 10 years ago print perfect. In any case, if your pc and phone screen are set to the most natural colors and lighting available you will get a better look at what needs to be done to your photos before printing.

For the price level and compact purposes, this printer does a great job with image quality, but could use a little more pep in its processing times.

Great printer for home, fast, large ink tanks

I am quite pleased with the printer. Unboxing and initial setup was simple and straightforward. Paper tray pulls out easily, and loading paper a breeze. Installing ink tanks is a simple "open the door and slide in". The ink tanks are fairly large, and should last a long time, and that will save on ink cost.

The printer has no display, only basic operating buttons - but these seem sufficient for all functions. The cover for scanner is light and easily opened. There is a back cover that can be popped off for clearing jams.

To complete setup, it's off to Brother website to download the software. Once installed, it found printer, and finished the wireless setup on the computer.

Next, printed a test document - which surprised me as to how quickly it printed. At that point, I used the document I just printed to check scan/copy function and made a copy. It came out just a shade lighter than original, which is actually hard to detect.

I also printed a picture on regular paper, and found the quality to be fairly good for plain paper.

Then on to Playstore to get the Brother android app, which I installed on my phone. That also worked perfectly - I was able to print from phone, and scan to phone.

Another plus is Brother's free printable and customizable home and business templates. You can download, customize and make cards, calendars, invites, etc.

As of this review, this mulit-function printer has performed perfectly, and I would highly recommend it as an excellent, inexpensive home / home office printer.

    Great Cheap Printer

So far so good. One of the nice things I like about it is my new mac automatically recognized the printer on wifi and I was able to print AND scan using my Mac, with no installation of any software. For my windows computer is has been good as well. Setup process is a bit odd since you have to do everything through an app, but other then that, once setup, it seems like every device can find this printer!

I have had no issues with print quality, but I didn't buy this for pictures. Literally just printing and scanning stuff from emails and the like.

I wouldn't think this printer would print amazing colors, and will depend a lot on the paper you use. It seems to do a decent job on high quality paper. Low quality/cheap paper the colors look horrible, but to be expected for price of paper and printer.

Great 3in1 large ink capacity printer!

The Brother MFCJ1205W INKvestment printer seems like Brothers entry-level INKvestment printer seeing that it is just your basic 3in1 Print, Copy and Scan printer. However, it does come with wireless technology by the way of WIFI and has an app called Brother Mobile Connect that enables you to print any document or picture you desire from your phone. The app is very well laid out and easy to use. I would have liked to have seen more info on the different ways to set up the printer on the network with direct connect and using the IP address of the printer and cloud print in the set up instructions. The easiest way to get it online is to just add it to your network during set up on your computer when it gives you the choice. I tried setting it to local on the computer it was connected to and it still prompted me to let it be connected to the internet on a couple of the additional steps for diagnostics and ink management etc. I was going to connect it local and use direct connect to print from my phone and I could not get it to work that way like I have before with other printers. It may do it but with the Brother software suite installed on the computer they really want the printer online so they can tell you when to buy more Brother ink for it and for diagnostics as well as the online suite that is available. I just went ahead and installed all of the software including the extra document handling software that seemed to be quite useful and included pdf software. The MFCJ1205W holds a lot of paper in the slide out paper tray. I do not know if it is 250 sheets but it seemed like at least 150 maybe 200. More than twice as much as the old printer it replaced. It also has easy-to-access ink tanks on the right front of the printer. You just open up a door and there is a separate compartment for just the ink rather than having to open up half the printer to replace cartridges like other inkjet printers I have had. I really loved the ease of access and simplicity involved with changing ink tanks. Another feature I liked was the hideaway USB cord connection on the side under the scanner lid. Additionally, I noticed is that for a compact all-in-one printer the Brother MFCJ1205W has some weight to it and feels like it is very well built and sturdy. For anyone looking for a simple 3in1 printer without a document feeder or fax capability, this is actually the best one I have come across and the fact that you can get it for $99.00 and it is an INKvestment printer with large capacity ink tanks available makes it a great deal to me. I would not hesitate to recommend it!

    Quality printer-with cable management

I never really pay much attention to the cabling on printers. Usually every single brand does the same thing, put all the ports in the back of the machine and assume this works for everyone. 9 out of 10 times, I prefer to just push it against the wall and leave it there. As long as I can extend my arm to grab a sheet of paper or open the trey, it works for me. Adding all the ports on the back makes that an issue since pressing it against the wall would then add pressure to the connections. So you have to fiddle with it a bit to find the right spot where the cables would be fine without putting too much pressure on the ports or the boot of the cables. The Brother printer goes a different route and puts the power connector on the side and other ports under the scan tray lid. They’ve even added a small channel along the side to bring your cables out through the back of the printer. I really love that about this printer.

The ink cartridges has a nice twist to them as well. No, they didn’t make them self-refillable, or at least not meant to anyway. They make them in a clear housing that allows you to visually see the ink levels rather than just relying on the software telling you that you’ve run low on ink.

Setup was cake with the INKvestment printer just pair to the same network connection and with 3 taps of the screen, you are paired. The Brother Connect app has a simple, yet stylish interface. You got your Printer model at the very top, ink information on the side, IP of the printer below the model, the printers status below that (printing, sleep, etc), then your typical document/photo print buttons, scan, copy, and maintenance buttons. If anything, it’s missing the bells and whistles other printer manufacturers throw into their apps such as camera print, cloud print, and the likes. The higher, more premium models seem to have some of that functionality built into the smart displays. But, lets face it, you’re printing from your phone, just open your favorite cloud service to print any document directly.

In terms of print quality, the Brother INKvestment printer handles everything you throw at it. From pictures, to documents and anything else. Pictures would appear to do really well. I didn’t have any glossy photo paper, which is why I think I got a so-so result. I got very little grain from drone photography and milky way images

    Simple But Good

The HP - DeskJet 2755 Wireless All-In-One Instant Ink-Ready Inkjet printer in white is a very simple machine and affordable printer that has some very good features. Actually, when I saw it I immediately thought how easy it would be to transport this machine from room to room in one's home or take it on vacation if one was using an RV or take it on the road if one travelled to visit their customers and need to be able to print. This printer is very light in weight and has a small footprint when placed on a solid surface, measuring about 17" looking down from east to west, 12" from north to south, and 6" tall.

This does not come with a full blown owner's manual, to get more information one must go online to www.hp.com/go/DJ2755a . It does come with a "Get Started" half-page piece of paper, with pictures, that 1st, asks you to take off the blue tape holding parts in place for shipping and then plug it into the electric socket while turning it on, 2nd to download the HP Smart App which is essential for printer setup, and 3rd follow the app's instructions for set up. I already had the app for a previous set HP printer set up, but they do request that you have the most updated version of that app, by the way. By the way, set up was easy peasy and I do love that it resets its Wi-Fi when I moved it from one location to another, there is a dual bank Wi-Fi with reset and if that is not your condition this printer also has Wi-Fi direct where you can connect either your computer, your smartphone, or your tablet directly to the printer wirelessly.

So, I have now set this printer up with my Android Smartphone, my HP tablet/laptop, and my desktop, all using different operating systems from the android nougat to Windows 7 Professional to Windows 10. This is a print, scan, and copy printer and you can direct it to print and copy in either color or in black and white on the top of the machine or by the app.

I am a self-employed CPA and this is not the machine for an office setting where heavy use will occur and the need for speed in printing is vital. However, for so many people that literally live off their phones and get documents with no way to print them this is perfect. I will email clients things to read and/or sign and they have no way to print. Now with the cost of this machine and its ability to print and scan, there is no excurse anymore. While it is not a quick printing experience, it is dependable. Remember that HP has an ink buying program that you must set up within 7 days of setting up for operation starting at free for 15 pages with pricing escalating for more printing that is done. That is the only problem with printers these days, the cost of the ink gets to be more costly than the printer.

Overall, for the money, ease of set u

I needed a wire to setup wireless

Low budget price, but it has issues with basic features. Wireless being especially disheartening, considering also that straight out of the box, its your only option. You won't find any USB cables with this printer, just the printer itself, ink cartridges, a power cord and some very basic literature.

Initial setup was actually quite easy. I already had the HP Smart app on my MacBook as I own another HP printer, but this time I decided to give it a try with the Android app version instead.

I turned on WiFi and Bluetooth, selected to add a new printer and the app found the printer right away. After a quick press of the 'info' button on the printer to confirm it's the right one, it proceeded to ask for my network info and finished the setup process. It also detects if you have the HP Print Service Plugin to allow you to print from your phone and will let you install it in the middle of the process making it even easier. The whole thing took just a few minutes and I was ready to go....

....or so I thought. First it asked me if I wanted to share a link to add this printer to other devices, I skipped over that as I didn't think I needed it, a mistake on my part, but we'll come back around to this in a minute.

I then selected 'Print Photos' in the app, selected a pic on my phone to print, and then it started looking for the printer...and looking...and looking until an error popped up "Unable to communicate with the printer". Odd considering the phone was literally just communicating with the printer during setup. I hadn't even exited the app or turned anything off at this point.

I kept trying to connect but no dice. The Wifi showed to be connected on the printer itself, and I even checked my network and could see the printer as active with a good connection, yet the app on my phone couldn't find it. I tried powering the printer on and off, turning the wifi on and off, doing the same on my phone, and nothing worked.

I then decided to try and print something from my MacBook, which works fine with my other HP printer. I find something to print, and see the printer in the list of available printers to choose from, select it and error. At this point I figure maybe it needs to be setup on my MacBook as well and proceed to open up the HP Smart app, and even though my laptop can see the printer, the HP Smart app can't. I try to go through the 'Add a new printer' process. The app tries to find it but can't, and since this printer isn't of the touchscreen variety, it tells you to... ATTACH A USB CABLE TO CONTINUE SETUP! A cable that this "wireless" printer doesn't come with.

This is where I believe that link I mentioned earlier during setup would be useful. But I skipped over it, and after looking all throughout the app on my phone which did have this printer installed, I couldn't find that link. I guess I should have gotten the link and saved it somewhere when it popped up, but how was I to know?

Luckily I happen to have the proper cable, and with a cable attached, I could print without any issues. I didn't even need to go through the HP Smart app. I just plugged it into my laptop, found something to print, the laptop setup the printer really quick and voila, I had my document.

Once you get it to print, it does the job just fine. Print quality isn't the greatest, but it's a budget printer, and the quality is more than acceptable if all you're doing is printing basic documents.

With the cable attached, I tried to go through the setup process again but on my laptop this time. I had to re-enter my network info and it re-setup the printer, even though it was already connected on my network!? Finally I was able to print to it wirelessly, but only from my laptop, I still, after many hours worth of trying, can't print from my Android phone even though that's what did the initial setup.

This printer is an all-in-one though and can do more than just print. It also scans and copies. The copy function is ok, but text on the copied printout comes out darker than the original, and some lighter colors it has trouble picking up. I made a copy of the 'get started' sheet that comes with the printer and some of the lightly shaded parts of the images didn't come out at all or came out grainy. And while the blacks came out darker on the copied printout, the colors it did get came out lighter.

The buttons on the panel aren't very responsive either. The first time I pressed the copy button nothing happened. I had to press it a second time before it started, and even then you have to give it a little time, definitely not 'instant' as it says in the title.

There's also a tiny lcd screen that displays some basic info. But, it's not backlit, and when you look at it from an angle, you see more than what's actually there. For example, sitting in front of it, I can clearly see an 'E' in the top corner (which I assume stands for Error? I'm not sure), but if you view it from directly above, you clearly see its NOT there.

This printer is also very lightweight, so lightweight though that you have no doubt this is a budget build. It doesn't feel like it could hold up to very much abuse.

To sum it up, I rarely give out low ratings, and try to adjust my expectations accordingly, but I can't in good faith recommend this printer, even with its low cost. It has some serious issues with the wireless functionality and if I didn't happen to have the right usb cable to get it working, this would be a proverbial paperweight.

    Great Budget Printer

I needed a high quality but lower cost printer for quick things around the house. I still have another non-HP Laser that is a bit big by today’s standard but with both my wife and I working out of the house now, I especially wanted something I could print off some stuff for work. I also was interested in the Scan/copy functions that I also use frequently. This printer really hit the mark on all those areas and a few other features I will mention.

Unboxing and setup were super simple. I downloaded the HP Smart App on my iPad first. Plugged in the printer, put the 2 cartridges in (very simple with diagram to make it fool proof) and turned it on. There are two cartridges, one for Black and one for Color. The app found the printer, recognized my Wi-Fi and brought up the password screen and within about a minute, it was setup and ready to go. First, I printed a couple pics from the iPad with it. Quality was good, not great but again, this is budget printer and probably not one you would use for high quality pics. All the text docs that I printed looked amazing! I did not sign up for the instant ink yet. I am still looking at the cost effectiveness of it.

As for the HP Smart App, I like it! I literally put it on my iPad, my Android Phone and my windows PC. Each one found the printer now that it was already on my network and setup was seamless and less than a minute for each, really only about 20 seconds max! The app worked great on all three platforms. I really like being able to have a common interface across the platforms with consistent results. I like the flexibility of using the phone for Camera Scan and printer scan. Another neat feature is the Smart Tasks. This allows you to combine tasks, such as Camera Scan to Email or another good one if you travel, Scan receipts to multiple Destinations. This allows you to structure tasks into fewer steps.

Overall this printer is above average for the cost. Considering the price point of $69.99, it’s very reasonable considering the 4800x1200 Color resolution and 1200x1200 for Black and about a 15 second first page out printing, it’s hard to complain for $70 bucks.

Time will tell if it holds up but for now, I would recommend this. I have tried successfully all the features important to me from pc, iPad and android phone. I am happy.

Stock was very low except for some models but we were fortunate that our desired printer was in stock. Salespeople are knowledgeable and helpful. Easy checkout process. They price match and already have competitive prices so no real need to shop around. Also looked at appliances for an upcoming purchase.
