    Completely Satisfied!

Winegard gets it! I was a bit hesitant to purchase this antenna as I haven't had much luck with previous antennas from other brands. This antenna was easy to put together and once I was ready to mount it, the channel finder app saved me loads of time trying to point it! The app told me exactly where to point the antenna to get the most channels and also helped me to pin point specific channels I wanted to get. Amazing product and definitely worth the investment. I'm now enjoying crystal clear local channels in HD for free! I highly recommend this antenna!

    Local channels and then some.

I researched this antenna for hours on YouTube prior to purchasing it. All good reviews. The antenna is lightweight and assembles easily. I live 45 miles from the Springfield, Mo. broadcast towers and the Winegard picked-up 60 channels with ease. Beautiful HD picture! Great way to cut the cord! Highly recommend.

    Frustrating, but good

So here is a real review. While this thing takes only minutes to piece together, finding the proper setting to get stations was insanely hard. I downloaded the app, and it tells you the direction to point them, however, there is height and pitch to consider, and that’s all a guessing game. It took over two hours of random and frustrating adjustments in order to get it to work. But when it finally did. It made all the difference in the world.

Great Antenna, but buy it without the pre-amp.

I actually returned this antenna because I mistakenly bought the wrong one online. I bought the same antenna without the pre-amp this package comes with. I needed a better higher gain and quality antenna mounted pre-amp for the area I am in.

    Extremely happy couch potato

I’m in Brooklyn, on a lower floor surrounded by buildings and all sorts of interference. This antenna pulls in 79 stations (including the 3 major networks and some music stations). Every once in a while, some channels will change their frequencies. Just rescan from the beginning to get them back.

    Forty+ Channels with Remarkable Clarity

I bought this antenna to put an end to an ever-increasing cable bill. I have had bad luck with past antennas, but I decided to try this form factor after reading the positive reviews and getting friend's recommendations, BestBuy sells two versions: the antenna alone or this version that includes the coax cable, splitter, and signal amplifier. At $50 more than just the basic antenna, the whole package was still less than one month of cable. It took a little time to assemble, but the pictures and instructions are easy to follow. I assembled it and set it outside for a test run. At first I was terribly disappointed - almost angry, but Antennas Direct Inc. includes a full page of tips and troubleshooting advice including a phone app to help you point the antenna. The app showed me exactly where to point the antenna (I was way off) and I was able to pick up 41 of the 43 available stations within a 75 mile radius, all super-sharp, in high definition and no drops or pixelation. The antenna performed so well, I even mounted it *inside* my garage! And being indoors, the antenna is protected from the weather, which by the way, a thunderstorm did roll through and we never lost picture. The antenna is well built, with solid materials and a beefy coax cable. Connectors are well-machined and the exterior connector has a weather boot. The mounting arm is light-weight and easy to adjust in all directions. The splitter allows for three connections, although I only use two. The signal amp is the only shortcoming, with thin cable compared to the rest, although it works very well. It would be nice to have an LED to indicate that the signal amp is receiving power. I am thrilled with this antenna, and my wife is happy with the number of channels and the clarity of picture. I couldn't ask for more. Yes, I highly recommend it.

    Thin but sturdy

This was thin and stylish, and the cord was long enough to put anywhere. Sadly, it didn't pick up the signal I wanted it to, despite my living in the city. Then again, I live in a newly renovated apartment with well insulated walls, so I am not going to put the blame completely on this antenna.

Excellent purchase at a rock bottom price

So I was with Directv and after overpaying once the years discount was over I cut the cord. This was way better than the leaf style antennas for double the price.

Easy install. I just connected it to the opposite side of the directv dish bar and downloaded the RCA Signal finder app. Swapped a Coax connection to the dish and connected my Two TVs with a splitter / amplifier and the signal is amazing. All the channels in Los Angeles are picked up.

    Affordable OTA antenna

Hey, this antenna just works! Pulls in everything I expect after consulting the TVFOOL website for available broadcast stations. Before you spend big $ on a fancy antenna, try a homemade version to get an idea of what's possible in your area. I stripped back the insulation on a spare piece of coaxial cable and attached the wires to a metal fruit basket. The center core is one wire, and then you have to twist the interior sheathing of the coaxial to create the second wire. Bread basket antenna worked good enough for me to try a store-bought antenna. This Pro Brand DIRECTV 2-Bay UHF Antenna works just fine, and it's affordable.

    Best $15 antenna so far

Got by with Insignia rabbit ears hung outdoors under the carport on 30 feet of coax the last 3 years. Reviews and price point prompted this purchase. After some home engineering, the antenna is mounted at 14 feet and receives 30 channels from the initial scan. Nine even speak English. Lucky enough to live within 10 miles of broadcast towers so no amplification was needed. Provides a great picture via 39 feet of coaxial cable on a 40" three year old Hinsense. Have not used a splitter or ran a grounding wire yet but will update if that diminishes reception or picture quality.

    47 channels

We get 47 chanels with it just sitting on the bookcase beside the tv. We're not even using the big metal bracket thing. My only complaint is that it doesn't come with the cable to hook into the tv. We just so happened to have one laying around so it worked out. Picture is clear. I can't believe this was only $15.

    Terrific Antenna

I've tried 2 other antennas, 1 flat square and 1 amplified flat square. I did get results with the amplified one, but would have fade out and couldn't always count on being able to get the channels I wanted. I set up this antenna hanging from my office window and got the full spectrum of available (I believe 27 to 29). I did not add an amplifier either. This antenna picked up the channels from the transmitter which was approx. 60 miles away. Probably out shines those which cost a lot more.

Want crystal clear local channels for free? This is the way to go. Pulls in 35 hd channels including ABC. Saving me $35 a month. I’m around 50 miles away from the nearest station. Have this outside near my roof. Connected to all 6 TVs in the house. Only glitched a little in a storm near the stations. Pouring rain in my area didn’t cause any interruptions. No one can tell I don’t have cable services.

I researched a few antennas and ended up with this one. I needed something for long range. I ended up receiving more channels than I expected in an area filled with hills. I mounted outside on the chimney and using the app that the mfg suggested, I pointed it in the right direction. Good investment and no more cable bill.

We live in a valley and had bad reception with our old antenna. Now that TV is digital I gave this antenna a try. I temporarily set up the antenna on the driveway and received 32 channels. I'll be setting it up permanently then cancel cable saving about $179 per month.

I am so pleased I purchased this long range antenna. I had gotten so fed up paying a small fortune for the so-called privilege of having 157 channels with nothing on. So I started planning how we were going to free ourselves from cable.

My first step was to choose a HD streamer. We decided after reading endless reviews to place Roku devices into 3 different rooms with TV’s. After I quickly installed them all we decided to pull the plug on our cable company. I am pleased to report that the Roku HD stream was exceptional and easy to operate with a small intuitive remote.

However, we had now given up all of local news channels.

Where I felt our selection for viewing was vast and more controllable (we now subscribe to Netflix, Hulu and Disney Plus along with our Amazon Prime) one problem still remained.... streaming news is limited and just kind of wonky.

So that takes me to the point of this review. The ANTENNAS DIRECT - CLEARSTREAM 4MAX HD ANTENNA.

I researched everywhere I could to find one that appeared to provide a nice clean signal. Since I live about 80 miles from Mount Wilson (Los Angeles) where our So Cal broadcasts come from I needed a long range antenna. This model not only captures all of the local channels, I now also pick more channels then I ever knew existed out here in the inland empire. And the HD picture quality is amazing! The installation was pretty simple. I purchased 25 feet of coaxial cable, attached it to a fresh new 3 way splitter then took the existing coaxial cables that lead into the rooms where out TV’s are and WHAM! Instant Local TV in all of my rooms.

So If your considering cutting the cord and reducing your home entertainment costs I highly recommend the ANTENNAS DIRECT - CLEARSTREAM 4MAX HD ANTENNA.

    Clear Stream 4 MAX antenna

This was an awesome purchase. We’ve had indoor antennas for years but got tired of having to readjust to get certain channels. With the Clear Stream Antenna 4 MAX mounted outside, we went from 19 channels to 40+ including 4 major networks with no interference from a vehicle driving by or having to readjust. I did download an Antenna pointing App to help locate antennas to make sure I had the best reception. I didn’t need to drill holes on roof bc I removed a satellite dish left from previous TV channel provider and used the existing stand from the dish to mount the antenna and the existing coaxial wire from satellite. There is a small nut you need to loosen to have access to coaxial wire on satellite. Now we have clear reception for all our TV rooms and no additional payments.

    Doubled my channels!

I bought this to replace my regular rabbit ears antenna. It looks 100x better and I’m not getting stabbed by rabbit ears while walking by. I was also able to put it closer to the window and now I can pick up about 50 over the air channels where I was only getting 23 before. It’s super light and I was able to affix it with painter’s tape. I like the black/white concept but the white cord kind of messes up the effect on darker walls. I used black electrical tape on the cord to make it blend better. Overall, I’m happy with it.

My Indoor Antenna Search is Finally Over

I've tried several different indoor antennas, I would get 5 to 6 channels after scanning, and don't let it rain, this became very frustrating for my wife and I. Picked up this antenna for BB, install/config, and voila, I picked up ~50 channels, I was astonished, so much so, that I ran the auto scan again to be certain. This antenna is the bomb.dot.com, and I highly recommend it as an indoor antenna option. I went directly to antennasdirect website this specific model is out of stock if that is any indication. Hope this helps to eliminate frustrations expereinced by others.

    It’s okay

Not my favorite antenna. There are two chords (a black chord to plug into the outlet and a white chord to plug into the tv). My previous antenna only had one chord to directly connect to the tv and worked well (for 5 years). The new antenna had less connections to channels and was missing one of the main channels (ABC). I auto searched 4 times and placed the antenna somewhere different each time, but i wasn’t getting the results i wanted. The antenna is ultra thin. I thought it would be a sleek thin stiff plastic board, but it is a flimsy plastic sheet kinda like a plastic binder? The sheet stands upright, but i don’t know how long that will last in it’s lifetime. And the last thing is that I wish the antenna came in completely black as an option because the white chord shows on dark furniture. I’m sure i can find a way to disguise the white chord, but there’s also just too much juggling of criss crossing chords. Unfortunately I want to like the antenna, but will be returning the item. This review is in hopes that somehow Insignia may develop an upgraded sleek and clean version of this antenna sometime in the near future.

A fantastic replacement for expensive providers

I bought this HDTV antenna to "cut the cord" from DirecTV, DISH, and Comcast. Installation is a breeze, 5 minutes + 10 minutes for channel programming. I am fairly surprised and quite happy with my decision and with this antenna unit. Thus far, I only set it up right by and on the same level as the TV and receive a horde of channels that I normally watched when subscribing to the aforementioned 3 providers. In addition to the network channels (abc, cbs, fox, nbc, pbs) and the long-time local channels (2, 20), I also get CourtTV, Comet TV, Charge TV, Grit TV, Mystery, COZI TV, True Crime Network, Light TV, this TV, Get TV, H&I (Heroes & Icons), Antenna TV, Movies!, Decades, Stadium (the sports-oriented channel), ion, and best of all, even MeTV (one of my favorites although it's kinda on and off with the signal). Basically, I only watched old-time shows/movies from the 60s, 70s, and 80s and forensic-oriented shows, and these channels provided exactly the types of TV shows what I wanted. Don't care for today's TV shows (too PC/boring for me.) I've been wondering why I did not switch earlier/sooner. I even think that if I put up the antenna higher, I may even get more channels or more consistent signals as some of the listed channels don't always show up, but this easily beat paying $150/month for cable/satellite TV that I've been paying for the past 20 years! I purchased 2 of them, one in my office, and one in the kitchen for my wife. Note: these channels are NOT true 1080 HD, and may be 720 at best, if that. Still, I highly recommend this antenna for those thinking of aborting the expensive cable/satellite providers. For those living in the Greater Denver area, go to ontvtonight.com for Denver TV Guide listing for the TV shows that are available on these channels that I listed above.

I live in an apartment building I have 3 windows widows are 2 are blocked by 2 building and a house I finally made the decision to purchase this product after reading the reviews. I received it this morning, and after I repositioned and rescanned the t.v it didn’t work but after many tried I put Mohu 40 mile range in the window, rescanned the t.v and I now have 56 channels, more than expected. After buying so many antennas and returning them I can say this antenna has really made my day. What a life saver. I would recommend this antenna if you live an apartment building.

    This antenna is great!

I purchased this Mohu 35 antenna to get local stations but wow I got more than I hoped. After setup and scan I was amazed to have 116 channels. Setup is easy having to only connect one coaxial cable and plug in the electrical cord and great picture quality. The price is great. Pair this antenna with an amazon recast and you have a great team that can be viewed on phone, tablet etc. No disappointment with this antenna!!

DITCH THE CABLE - GET THE DIGITAL ANTENNA!

OH! MY! GOSH! I have dragged my feet on getting a digital antenna. But after being jerked around by my cable company with whom I've been a customer for 20+ years, I took my brother's advice and purchased this awesome digital antenna!

I never knew that my television could produce such high resolution pictures, and this antenna has shown me the way. The picture is incredibly crystal clear, and the channels that I am able to get are outrageously good!

At this point, I would tell ANYONE to ditch the cable and purchase a digital antenna - this one in particular. The sleek design is not cumbersome, and it is very stylish and light weight. Simply insert the coaxial cable into the television and scan. No electricity needed whatsoever!

I can't believe that I did not do this sooner! I am in love with my television like I've never been before. Amazing product!

    Not BAD for the price

I’ve had this antenna for almost 2 months. I’ve tried it on my tv downstairs and upstairs and the signal is the same. There is no buffering at all. It doesn’t freeze on the lower channels but sometimes freeze on higher channels. Overall it’s not bad at all. I get over 80 local channels.

    Lots of channels

I struggled to attach the stand to the antenna and was about to return it when my guy friend figured out how to snap it in. It's not easy, but you really have to get the top part of the stand to fit and snap into the two notches before snapping in the bottom part. Once you get it to snap in, then you can move the antenna around freely. Without proper attachment, it will be annoying to move the antenna around and to get it stand and balance. My friend also pointed out that you can mount the antenna to the wall and it would blend in against a white wall. Modern design. It's kind of big, so probably mounting it on the wall would keep it out of the way. I live near the airport, so when planes fly overhead, it knocks out reception temporarily. Lots of channels. I get more channels with this than with another well-rated rabbit ears antenna. For some reason, I cannot get the ION Television station with any antenna where I live despite the box saying you should be able to get it.

    Money in my pocket

I paid about $30 for this antenna. I plugged it in and followed the easy instructions. I received all the channels that I was looking for to watch football on the networks plus so much more! The picture is crystal clear and sometimes I have to move the antenna to one side or another depending on how clear or not clear it’s coming through. But overall I bought a 50 mile range. I am super happy with this purchase. And counting all the money that I am saving not having cable.

This indoor antenna is better than my working rabbit ears. It is rated for a 50 mile radius and that is what is making the difference. I get good reception from an additional 10 channels than my previous rabbit ears do not pull in my area. I like the table top stand as well. Do not have to mount on a wall.

    Won't stick to any surface

It works just the same as a cheap antenna. The glued pads don't last a day if you want to stick it to the wall. you will find it on the floor. It comes with a stand but it forces you to put it low. Bunch of channels won't work, you have to put it high so you can get the most channels.

    Works as expected

No need for a glowing review here. This just does exactly what it is supposed to do-- receive digital TV signals. As part of the cord-cutting, we dumped cable and went with IP based TV. But we missed KTCA so I simply bought this on the Deal of the Day and attached it to a fence post at the back corner of my house. I disconnect the cable from the street and connected the Rocketfish cable to the inbound cable in the gray box outside. Inside I added the amplifier and boom! Free TV on all four flat screens in the house. And the quality is excellent.

Great reception - over 80 channels with HD quality

I am about 35 miles northwest from the transmitters on Phoenix South Mountain. My first channel scan brought in over 80 channels. Excellent picture quality. It was very easy to install and set up. I attached the antenna to an exterior wall under the eave about 10' off the ground. I painted it to match the exterior wall color. The picture quality is much better than what I previously received from Cox. Now saving over 40 dollars an month after cancelling the Cox standard TV service. Installed the amplifier inside next to the TV. I used a splitter to add a DVR to record. The TV and DVR receive excellent picture quality. This was really a Best Buy for me.

    Pretty good so far

I mounted this off the edge of the roof right beside where the Directv dish was mounted (directly over the eve). I removed the dish and connected the coax cable from the dish to this antenna. I ran a shorter piece of coax from the wall behind our main TV to the amplifier (which came with this antenna) that is connected to the tv.

The local fox and nbc stations are notorious for their reception difficulty but they come in very nicely. I did see some choppiness on ABC one day but it was windy so not sure if that was a factor. My other tv has an indoor antenna mounted on the wall above it and ABC is usually good.

Overall seems very good and I also bought this on sale for 49.99.

When an indoor antenna just won't do.

Although indoor antennas are okay, they still suffer from obstructions like walls, and station angle. A well-built adjustable outdoor antenna can really give you a stronger signal. I've had mine for 6 months now and I'm pleased overall. I might lose a few stations when I rotate the antenna to pick up others but that's ok.

    Great antenna

I have poor reception in the apartment I live in. I have tried various flat and power TV antennas with no luck. The signal cut in and out, or dropped completely. The Rocketfish outdoor antenna fixed that problem. Overall, I would recommend this product, but caution buyers that a separate pole will need to be purchased if you cannot mount the antenna to your building.

    great flexible product

After reviewing the good feedback from other purchasers, I decided to take a risk to buy this product. At first I wonder why there are so many metallic hardware in the box other than the plastic antenna itself. After reading the instructions, i decide to give a trial to just install the antenna indoor without using the hardware, I was amazed that it gives me such good receptions and so many channels than my old one. I love it. Some day I may decide to install it outdoor once I find a good spot in the roof area. For the time being, just use it as an indoor by hanging it on the wall.

Great picture and I receive enough channels to make the wife happy. I suppose I do not understand what "multi-directional" means since turning the antenna gets you stations from other cities. Works well

I tried several brands/models including Mohu. This one worked best for me. I have this hooked up to a HDHomerun and it picks up all the local channels I care about. All the others had trouble getting one of my desired channels. However, I think the rangefinder app thing is just a gimmick. You can simply look up where the broadcast towers are in your area via online search. The optional app does not actually talk to this antenna. Just point this antenna in the direction toward the stations you care about.

    Great antenna, Mohu!

DISCLAIMER: For my application, I already had a 4-way 10dB gain powered splitter in my attic which is connected to a simple 4'x4' double wire T-antenna with 2 gator clips on the connection end which was attached to a coax converter module. It was mounted in my attic. This is the same type "T-wire" antenna that came with older TVs a few years ago. I installed this Mohu Sail antenna on the same port of this splitter but also added the included power amplifier. The old antenna (which you'll see partially in my uploaded picture) was disconnected.

Mohu's new "Sail" amplified antenna is a great addition to their already great antenna lineup. The package comes with the antenna, 30' of RG-59 coax cable, mounting hardware, pre-amp module (power injector), and user instructions.

    PROS:

    -----------

    * Previously, using my T-wire antenna setup, I was able to pick up 33 channels here in Hoover, AL (south of Birmingham). I replaced that antenna with the Mohu antenna and added the additional 15dB gain to the system, and now I re-scanned and receive 41 channels. I was able to get 8 more channels than I had previously. The antenna is mounted in my attic and faces due north towards downtown Birmingham, AL.

    * The antenna is aesthetically appealing and made of lightweight material; light enough that if you really wanted to mount with some string or duct tape, or velcro strips, you definitely could.

    * Simple installation (mostly, more on that later)

    * Signal amplification is a must for most people, which this unit has.

    * Great picture on my TV as expected.

    CONS:

    -----------

    * HARDWARE included in the box NEEDS TO BE CHANGED/UPDATED.

    1. --- Because I was installing in my attic, I could only install on a horizontal 2x4. This worked fine however I could only use 2 mounting screws (see pic). This was more than enough to hold the antenna in place INDOORS, but a smaller mount could be included so all 4 could be used if needed. All 4 screws would be needed outside due to wind.

    2. --- The mounting screws have phillips heads on them. Putting that thick of a screw into a 2x4 is a quite difficult using a phillips head screwdriver or drill bit. I had to drill a "through" pilot hole in the 2x4 so the top of the screw would not strip (as much). It still stripped some anyway even with the pilot hole. Please change the head to a hex head type bolt or one that uses an allen wrench.

    3. --- Perhaps there could be a metal, fiberglass, or thick plastic insert to go into the hollow bottom of the mounting arm that's attached to the mounting bracket. When tightening the 2 hex bolts, if you're not careful, the tube may start to bend since it's hollow. This would be most beneficial if mounted outside where the connections need to be very tight and secure.

    * The 30' coax cable that was included was RG-59 low-grade coax. If you're going to have any kind of long cable run, make sure you use RG-6. It has heavier gage wire, thicker insulation, and better shielding. It is slightly more expensive. In addition, if you're able to use COMPRESSION fittings (see pic of my compression fitting attached to the pre-amp module) on the ends of your cable, use those. Avoid "crimped-on" fittings if possible. It will help provide a better overall signal regardless of source (cable/satellite/antenna). This is what we use for AT&T U-Verse/DTV coax installations.

    OTHER OBSERVATIONS:

    -----------

    * The amplifier/power cable is white but the USB AC power adapter is black. Try and make it all one color (all black?). It looks funny being 2 colors even though it's likely to be hidden.

    * About the only way to install this antenna is to use the included hardware. Space could be a problem in a shorter attic... it would be an great addition to create a couple of holes (1 embedded in each top corner) or 2 attached loops on the top/back corners where it could be hung by velcro strips/rope/string via owner-supplied hooks or by looping string or thin rope around rafters. A simple plastic mold upgrade such as that would allow for a different installation type if needed, as the supplied mount may not work for everyone (in an attic at least).

    CONCLUSION:

    =====================

Great overall antenna. I like the look and the functionality. It did what it was supposed to do. I can't verify a 75-mile range but it did pick up 8 more channels than I had before due to adding that extra power injector module to my setup. The picture on my TVs were about the same as before... there was no improvement there because I was already getting a good signal previously. The biggest issue I had with the unit was the installation mounting hardware (phillips bolt heads the biggest issue) and lack of other installation options. Better hardware would give this antenna a 5-star rating. The functionality of the antenna reception itself is great though.

Mohu Sail Indoor Attic/Outdoor – Superior Outdoors

I live in a rural area not served by cable. Satellite, - OTA (over-the-air), and Internet TV are the only other options. Satellite TV offers approximately 150 channels, of which, I am really only interested in watching and actually paying for about 12. However, they 'package' their so-called offerings to include numerous, worthless infomercial, jewelry, shopping, foreign language, and 'nobody watches' channels, coupled with ever annoying 'rain-fade' and dense cloud reception interference. I have to subscribe to their package line-ups or else, no cafeteria-plan selections. Internet TV is super-expensive, and severely limited to no more then 150 GB/mo, which is approximately an hour a day of viewing for me, before I max out of my data allowance. YUK!

So, the most viable alternative for me is OTA digital TV reception. A few years ago there were only a half dozen local stations broadcasting OTA in my area. However, with the ever increasing number of cord-cutters across the nation, advertisers have taken note, and local broadcast, digital TV stations have had a remarkable resurgence, and by all forecasts will continue to do so. There are now approximately 30 plus TV stations available in my area. WooHoo! After looking into the offerings of these TV stations I would be content with about 18 to 20 of them if I could receive them. I presently, get 10 TV stations with an inexpensive. amplified indoor TV antenna mounted near my TV facing North West.

So, I was anxious to try out this complimentary Mohu Sail Amplified, Multi-Directional HDTV Indoor / Outdoor TV Antenna. At first I temporarily mounted this Mohu Sail in my attic. I was immediately disappointed, because I only picked up one additional TV station, but I did receive far better reception (1080i) then my present indoor TV antenna provided. I then realized I needed much more information about TV antennas in general, and specifically their optimal location. I went to the Mohu Support Center website and poured over the FAQs. I discovered that roof mounted antennas are at least, generally 50% more efficient, then indoor placement. I read that moving a roof mounted antenna just a few feet can make a world of difference in the number of channels received and quality of reception. So, I mounted my Mohu Sail on a 10' x 1 1/4” diameter, metal pole, and connected 100' of RG6 cable to my TV and 'roaming' antenna. I climbed up on my roof and experimented by moving my Mohu Sail antenna to various locations and areas on my roof, and, at different heights. I discovered that at approximately 25 feet off the ground, facing due West, at my chimney, I received 26 TV stations out of the 30 available. An additional 16 TV stations for under 3 hours of work is more then I received before installing the Mohu Sail antenna outside. YooHoo!

However, folks this is not a quick and easy process, but has a heck of a 'payback'. My wife and I spent a total of 2 and ½ hours optimizing our antenna location and its direction. I had my wife in front of our TV running the scans each time I moved the antenna around. She let me know the results by communicating to me through our cell phones. We also video confer- fenced on some of the scans. How cool is that? Be aware that each time you move your antenna you must run an “Antenna-Scan' on your TV to realize how many stations you can actually receive at that particular location. Also, the direction of the antenna face is an extremely important component, but pretty easy to configure before you start locating your Mohu Sail antenna on the roof.

Mohu suggests a website, tvfool.com, which will not only provide you with the number of TV stations you can expect to receive, but their directional bearings, or azimuth (360 degrees of compass direction). This sounds difficult, but every Smart Phone has a compass, which will indicate your directional degrees from North. Take my word for it, once you find the general direction of the majority of the TV stations you would like to receive from tvfool, just point the Mohu Sail antenna in that general direction – your Smart Phone compass will help you. For example, the 26 TV stations I now receive are from approximately from,180 degrees South to 333 degrees North. So, I faced the front of my Mohu Sail antenna at approximately 270 degrees, due West, which is in the middle of the area for optimal TV signal reception. I think that the Mohu Engineers purposefully designed the curve in the Mohu Sail to to pick-up the signals, from either side of optimal center, which gives this antenna so much more efficient, TV reception.

The other four stations out of the 30 that I could not receive while pointing the Mohu Sail in the general direction of the other 26 are 'catewampus' to the 270 degree setting, at 45 degrees, due North East. Even though those signals are 40 plus miles away, I could actually receive them by pointing the Mohu Sail at 45 degrees, due North East. However, at 45 degrees, due North East, it is pretty much at the expense of the other 26 channels. Be aware that there are limits to what is labeled 'omnidirectional'. Terrain, trees, buildings, barriers, even your own home's building construction affects your TV reception. It is worth the time it takes to narrow down your optimal Mohu Sail antenna location – you won't be disappointed.

I definitely recommend this Mohu Sail antenna for outdoor use. But, to be fair, it is probably a great attic antenna in suburban areas, which have many strong signal, local TV broadcasters, short distances to the towers, and optimal, omnidirectional reception. I love this antenna for its outstanding TV reception without having to pay cable or satellite subscriptions costs. I now receive 26 channels, 16 more then I ever had been able too. WooHoo!

    Small antenna, great reception!

We are surrounded by water, trees and other obstacles, and 44 miles away from the closest antenna. We recently cut the cord with a satellite tv supplier that continuously raised their prices. I was not expecting much when I tested the antenna inside my attic initially, but was quite surprised by the clear reception for all 3 of our tv's. Once I determined that this small antenna would satisfy our needs I proceeded to the roof for a permanent mount. Prior to testing the antenna I went to https://www.fcc.gov/media/engineering/dtvmaps to determine the location of the nearest towers. I then utilized the compass on my iPhone to determine the direction of 105° from the location of the antenna's front face. If you use your phone's compass make sure that the compass "True North" setting is turned off.

Tools: I took a pair of pliers, 5 in 1 screwdriver, 1/2” wrench and 1/2” socket wrench to the roof.

    1. First remove the arm that extends in front of the satellite dish using the 1/2” wrench.

    2. Next, unscrew the coax cable inside the arm. When unscrewing the cable in the arm, save the small rubber piece that is on the end of the cable to reuse.

    3. Then, loosen the 1/2” satellite dish mounting bolts where it attaches to the mount pole.

    4. After the bolts are loosened, lift the entire satellite dish off of the mount pole that is attached to the roof.

    5. I would recommend attaching the mounting plate to the rear of the Mohu antenna prior to getting on the roof, but it was easier for me to carry everything to the roof in the box not put together because I was by myself. If you haven’t attached the mounting bracket to the back of the antenna do that now with a Phillips head screwdriver.

    6. Attach the other half of the mounting bracket to the back of the antenna with the butterfly nuts turned once.

    7. Slide the mounting bracket over the mounting pole that the satellite dish was mounted to.

    8. Make sure the antenna face is pointed in the direction of the antennas that you would like to receive from. Although this antenna is listed as multi-directional, I did not find that to be the case.

    9. Secure the butterfly nuts tightly to ensure that the antenna will not move. There are options for a rotating antenna, but we did not find it necessary.

I used the same coaxial cable that was used for our satellite dish, along with the same splitters. I did remove one splitter because we eliminated a tv. I also used the Mohu supplied amplifier provided with this antenna. Make sure you follow the directions and install the amplifier before the splitter if you use a splitter. In less than 30 minutes I had the Mohu antenna mounted in place of the satellite dish, and all 3 tv's scanned and programmed. For the price and ease of installation, this antenna is a great buy. Our local tv stations are much clearer with this antenna than they ever were with the satelittle tv!

    good value great reception

Bought this antenna and mounted it outside on the roof. Setup was pretty straightforward and it was up and running in no time at all. Had the leaf version and thought it worked well for a indoor antenna. After scanning received all locals with 100% signal. Total channels reception is 61 at this point, Some from Batavia, buffalo and Syracuse all come in with solid good clear picture. Only cons were the mount is flimsy and does not support the massive antenna in the wind well. Highly recommend a 6' mast with heavy duty wall mount to secure it along with grounding wire. I spent an additional 30+ dollars for the hard ware at home depot and could not be happier..

    Decent Outdoor Antenna

The Mohu Sail is a nice outdoor antenna for cable cutters or those looking to receive local broadcast TV. I bought one of Mohu’s indoor antennas but I had trouble with the TV stations dropping out constantly. Fortunately the Sail performs better, but not sure how much is result of the new antenna or rather placement. Design wise, aesthetically the antenna is nice though the 'sail design' may not be great in windy conditions. Mohu provides mounting hardware, 30’ coax cable, and an amplifier. It is advertised as multi-directional however I found that I had to aim it in the direction of the local stations I wanted to receive. I had hopes of mounting this in the attic but had issues with pixelation on one of the VHF channels my local station broadcasts. With the antenna outside and pointed in the correct direction, I was able to pickup 18 channels of the 35 Mohu estimated would be available in my area. I am still having some pixelation issues but it is far less frequent since installing the Sail outdoors. If you have tried indoor antennas but are having signal issues and channel dropouts the Mohu Sail is a decent upgrade.

    Ok but not great

Mohu - Sail Outdoor Multi-Directional Antenna – Black.

The package I received was somewhat damaged outside. Nothing out of the ordinary for a shelf box being shipped, but it was not packaged in a more protective box. Once I opened it up I noticed it was not very well wrapped or packed, almost like it was a return.

When I assembled the antenna mount I noticed the hardware package was not sealed. Upon closer inspection I found 1 nut was missing. I was able to locate the correct M6 size washer, lock washer, and nut, to assemble the bracket. Worth noting at this point is a previous reviewer saying the antenna mount is too large to mount on a 2X4. The instructions clearly show the mount being screwed to something. They fail to tell you that a normal roof rafter will not be adequate for the size of the bracket. I was able to install a 2X6 board and install the bracket on that. Pictures are attached for the missing nut and the 2X6 board installation.

I installed the electrical portion of the antenna and pointed the antenna in the direction of the most transmission towers. Let me just state, I live in a town that has practically no over the air TV reception. The NBC station in our cable system (I got rid of cable and replaced it with internet television) comes from a city 120 miles away. That was the closest one at the time. Once installed I checked all of the stations. A few were slightly better, a few were missing. I did the rescan on the TV and now there were a few stations I had removed previously, stations I would not ever watch, but the missing ones were still missing. I had my wife set at the TV with it on signal meter and slowly turned the antenna to get peak reception. The missing stations did come back but were very pixilated.

I did a comparison of my old antenna to the new one. My TV has a signal meter and a signal to noise meter (SNR). To get a watchable picture you need to have at least 38 on the signal meter and 45 on the SNR. If either number falls below those numbers the TV will state No or Weak Signal.

On the best station it went from 55 signal to 83 signal, and 65 SNR to 68 SNR. As you can see the SNR did not really go up much. It just boosted the carrier signal. Still makes it a better picture with less pixilation on the edges.

On the worst station, not really watchable with either antenna, the signal went from 35 to 56. However the SNR went from 10 to 0. So the new antenna is filtering out so much noise it completely killed the station. I want to make clear that the worst station was, and is now, only watchable in the early morning or late evening, in clear weather.

The fact that the antenna states that it is “Multi-Directional”, and shows a 360 degree symbol, should mean you don’t need to aim it, this is not correct. It is directional, you do need to aim it for the best reception. Multi-Directional is not the same as Omni-Directional.

I am attaching a picture of my old antenna. I made it myself when TV went digital. It has served me very well and I will hold onto it. No telling when the amplifier will give out on the new antenna.

The improvement I see is extremely minor. It took time, energy, wood, additional hardware that was missing, and now electricity to make this new antenna work.

    Does it work? Yes.

Was it worth all the work to get it installed? No.

This should be a last ditch effort on your part if you have no other options.

    Tough Install/ Crisp OTA Channels

Woo! Be ready for a bit of a sweat to get this guy installed.

It is such a light package it could be deceiving and there aren’t many steps to setting it up but make sure you have a heavy duty drill for the bar that goes into your wall/ceiling.

So compiling all the parts was easy but getting the bracket onto the 2x4 of my attic was a lot of work and try to do it when it isn’t hot up there.

Last downfall for me was figuring out how to run the coaxial cable through my walls for a nice aesthetic.

Great news, I have had a MoHu antenna so I knew the work was worth it and I’m glad I did it. The channels on my 4K tv are amazingly crisp and as a cord cutter it works best for me because I get all my local channels and download apps for other content like movies! I’m super surprised with the channels I was able to pull in!

I like the product overall I just wish there was a way to cut out the coax or a adapter to beam data from the antenna.

Have been dreaming of cutting the cord on cable for a while. Started with one of our extra tvs. Set up of the antenna took 5 minutes. Programming the tv took some time but when finished, I was AMAZED to see a clear picture!!! I am able to receive all of the major networks, except ABC (still trying to figure that out). For 8.99, I am thrilled to have free tv!! Four stars instead of five because: open box arrived with no instructions and price tag on box was $7.99. I paid $8.99 when ordered.

    Does the job

We had high hopes for the Mohu AirWave because our kitchen TV location does not permit the use of a cable from the wall jack without stringing it across the living and dining rooms, but it never performed and I had to return it. My Best Buy store recommended this Mohu Leaf 50 as a replacement, and we are very pleased with it. We were able to place it where we wanted to with good reception, and for most of its run I could disguise the cable that must be used to connect the antenna to the TV by running it above the crown molding. I painted the antenna itself to make it less conspicuous. We are able to receive around 30 broadcast channels, including all major ones, and for the most part the picture and audio are very clear. Overall, we are very happy with this product.

Great antenna for weak signal areas

We bought this antenna for use in our basement, which is solid cement block and we've had a lot of trouble with getting a signal in the past.

It works surprisingly well in the basement when compared with our non-amplified model in our upstairs area, however we still have issues with the signal cutting in/out at times and we have to shift it slightly once in a while.

The lightweight flexibility and all white color are perfect since we can hang it very far up on the wall just by using a push pin, and it blends in so well that I forget it is there.

    Does what it's supposed to.

We live in a rural area about 37 miles from the next biggest city and wanted to bring in the local stations that we couldn't get otherwise. It works well but our windows aren't in the right place in conjunction with our trees so in the summer we still can't get local channels. The antenna works great in the winter when the trees are bare!

    Poor reception

I purchased this product to use with my TiVo OTA and it did not perform as advertised. It was supposed to be an Multi-Directional antenna, but I found I could only get it to work if it was directed right at the transmission tower. Being off path slightly caused the signal to deteriorate and not be usuable. Therefore, when having TV stations on different towers, it was impossible to get all channels. I am within 25 miles of the TV towers in the Minneapolis/St. Paul market and have no issue with the "old fashion bow-tie type UHF antenna. I just thought this would be a good one because it is flat and Multi-Directional (it's not). So, I wouldn't recommend it.

Easy to setup / 26 local channels for free - WOW!

Finally decided to cut the cord and installed this OTA antenna to get all the local channels in combination with an AirTV and Sling TV to fully cut the cord with cable and works perfectly!

Took about 15-20 minutes to try it in 4-5 different positions and 2 different walls to see where I got the best signal. You just need to rescan for channels each time you move it which just takes about 2 mins.

I actually ended up getting the best reception with it flat against the ceiling inside a book case on an exterior wall (see pic) and works like a champ. Can't even see it unless you put your head in the book case.

No idea I would pickup so many channels with a slim lightweight antenna - 26 local channels for free!

Will pay for itself in basically a month... sweet!

    Great Antenna for Cord Cutting

The Mohu Arc Pro is an amplified indoor TV antenna with a 60 mile effective range. This does not have the flexible paper thin construction that is found in most of Mohu’s offerings. I plugged my street address into Mohu’s website, and it told me I could get between 41 and 58 channels (had to guess which antenna was the most similarly spec’d to the Arc Pro). At the time the Arc Pro was not listed but it gave I have my Arc connected to my Xbox One via the Hauppage OTA tuner made for the Xbox. The Arc fully supports 1080p and is 4K ready. This is my first OTA antenna, so I don’t have any background to compare performance in my home. However, I can share my experience, and how it may relate to others.

    Design

The Arc Pro has a stylish and modern design that doesn’t look out of place around an entertainment center. The antenna itself comes with an attached 16ft coaxial cord. The Arc Pro also comes with the new FirstStage amplifier, which claims to provide a clearer picture through improved signal processing and noise reduction. The amplifier is powered via the integrated USB cable. If your TV has a powered USB port you can plug it in there, or you will have to supply your own USB charger. I have several lying around, so this wasn’t a big deal for me. The antenna comes with a stand that props it up on a table or has keyhole slots for wall mounting. Hardware for wall mounting is not included. I opted for wall mounting mine since I didn’t have an available surface to set it on. The front of the Arc has a vertical row of 4 green LED’s at the bottom. This is the signal strength indicator – 4 lit up lights means you have the best reception.

I do have a couple of gripes about the design. It would have been nice to have a coax jack on the antenna instead of having a hardwired cable. I currently use a coax coupler because the cable was 1 foot short of what I needed. Same goes for the USB cable in the amplifier. Give me a port to plug in my own cable for whatever length I need. The USB cable was 6 feet away from my laundry room PDU strip – which meant I need to buy a USB extension cable or use a plain old AC extension cord like I am currently using.

    Testing

I live in a western suburb of St. Louis. The general thinking for me then was that most towers would be found to my east (confirmed this on otadtv.com for the tower locations). Without hooking the Mohu up to my TV, I simply powered it up with just the amplifier attached. I went to various rooms in my house testing which rooms provided the best signal. I was not surprised when the eastern side of my house (kitchen actually) proved to obtain the best signal (3-4 lights illuminated on the signal meter). Unfortunately, I had no way to get the cord from that room into my living room in any way that resembled a proper installation. I did test it though with the cord just running through the middle of my floor. I tested it on both the Xbox tuner as well as my TV tuner. With 3-4 signal lights I got 35 channels on my TV and 38 on my Xbox – not sure why I had a discrepancy. Neither of these get up to the 41 channels let alone 58 that I should potentially receive. I ended up moving my Arc to my laundry room where the distribution splitter for my old cable TV was located. This location is not as good as my best spot (lower level in a split-level house, but at a window) as it only gets 2 signal lights. However, I can send the signal all over my house from this location vs. being locked down to one screen. I tested again in this location (the amplified cable splitter made no difference on performance I found), and my Xbox pulled 33 channels. I lost 5 channels overall, but they were ones I honestly didn’t care about. I still receive ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, PBS, and a couple of others that I will watch occasionally.

I did find that I could fool the signal lights into thinking it had a better signal. I laid the antenna down on my wire shelving in my laundry room. I was getting 4 lights, so I scanned for channels. It only brought up 27, so the signal lights are not the end all indicator for your full reception.

I found it best to scan several times in several places to see where my signal was most consistent. Especially if you are considering wall mounting. If you can wait, try testing it during good and bad weather before settling on a final location. Cloud cover will affect what you receive – I didn’t lose channels, but a few did become choppy/pixelated during a storm.

    Picture Quality

I have watched mostly HD channels since setting the Arc up. The picture looks great across all the HD channels I have. I was actually fairly surprised at how good the picture was, and was expecting some graininess or choppiness to accompany the image. Outside of a bad thunderstorm last week, the picture was clear and sharp.

    Overall

I wasn’t sure what to expect since this was my first OTA TV antenna. I am certainly happy with the picture quality. I know, since I cut the cord and switched to just Netflix and Hulu 4 years ago I pretty much lost all contact with any primetime stuff. My only complaints revolve around the cabling setup in the design. Otherwise the antenna works great. I know my channel count is low for what I should be getting, but that could be down to several factors. First, without the antenna up on Mohu’s site I have to guess how many channels I should get (41 or 58). I do have quite a few large trees around my house that could be impacting the signal. Regardless, I get the channels I care about so I am happy with it.

    Make this investment for quality

I’ve had over the air (OTA) antennas before and they were simply adequate. Signals would get distorted based on location or weather many times.

This Mohu Arc Pro Indoor Dipole antenna is perfect for my home. I dropped cable TV and monthly fees a few years ago and haven’t looked back. I refuse to let the cable companies bleed me dry of money for a ridiculous amount of channels. Even the entry level cable packages are overpriced and when you do the math on it you’re spending a fortune on this entertainment factor. For me, I want to be able to watch clear live TV on the major networks.

This Moho antenna was a breeze to set up and get up and running. Plugged into the coax plug on tv and used the USB port on the TV to give it some power. I was able to get a total of 23 channels where I live in Upstate, NY. Over the air signal was solid and nothing seemed to get distorted when I had the antenna in a nice location near my window. The antenna looks nice with its arc shape and I have it set in plain view on my fireplace.

So happy that this works well and the picture looks crisp and clear. I think this is a great investment for anyone who is budget savvy and can be at peace without the cable channels and fees.

    Pros:

    Great signal

    Looks nice

    Easy setup

    Adequate cord length

    No monthly cable fees

    Cons:

    None

    Mixed results...

I live in Phoenix, lots of OTA HD. But I live behind a mountain that blocks southern OTA HD reception. I have a 20' mast with a 120" Antenna on my roof (cost several hundred dollars), it can pull in 60+ stations. So I'm not comparing apples to apples with the MOHU Pro at less than $100.

I first mounted it in my upstairs office, pointing east; I scanned for DT channels, I "acquired" 10 but only 4 were watchable. I then changed to the adjecent wall pointing south; scanned and "acquired" 17 stations 9 were watchable (3 of these were Spanish). It's interesting to note none of the channels overlapped (they were all different). For me most of the channels acquired were SD broadcasts, only 1 (on my first scan) was true HD.

But that being said the content that I acquired proves the Antenna works, and can pull in signals. I know I'm not the perfect test case, due to my "Mountain". I can say that the antenna is highly directional which depending what direction your stations come from may be a good or a bad thing. But they offer no way to mount it that it can easily be moved. If the mount had some sort of sliding device that would allow adjustment it would be a MUCH better product.

I was a little surprised to get any stations at all. When DTV was just getting started I tried 2 different indoor antennas - got nothing That's how I ended up with the big roof antenna. I did try the antenna on a downstairs TV and got no digital channels. So depending on your location this antenna may work out for you, but you might have to move it to get different channels.

But with BB, you can always try to see if it works for you!

Good reception for a small antenna

    Pros

    Good reception for its size

    Amplified

    Amplification improves station picture quality/stability

    Freestanding or wall mountable

    Easy to read signal meter

Simple design doesn’t detract if left in the open

    Cons

Doesn’t include USB power adapter for the price

Doesn’t reach any more channels than non-amplified

    Confusing mistake in instructions

    Doesn’t include USB Power adapter

Very sensitive to orientation and objects near it

Cable is built in and not replaceable

Mohu is nearly synonymous with off air TV. There are multiple options, but when searching through forums and reviews the name Mohu is mentioned often. Most of their designs are very sleek can be installed without creating an eyesore like the bunny ears on older TVs. The latest is the Mohu Arc Pro, which is based off the Mohu Arc but adds an amplifier, a signal strength meter, and 20 miles of additional range.

    Design

The design is just as the name implies. It is a simple, flat panel antenna that has been curved back into an arc shape. The coax cable is non-removable and is built into the unit. A stand/wall mount is included and snaps into slots on the back. Also included is an optional signal amplifier to boost the signal strength. Power is provided via a USB connection on the cable, but a USB power adapter is not included. If your TV either doesn’t have USB or the USB doesn’t provide power, then you will need to plan on purchasing a USB power adapter if you don’t already have a spare.

    Setup

You can set the Arc Pro either on a flat surface, standing up, or hang it on a wall using the screw slots on the back of the stand. The stand is very light so if you opt for placing standing up make sure it is a safe place as it can easily fall over when bumped or shaken. The included signal amplifier is installed between the antenna cable and the TV. In some cases, it might be unnecessary but without it the signal strength meter doesn’t work. The signal strength meter has no way to know what signal you are picking up so one can only assume it just indicates how strong the overall signal is. When adjusting, the signal meter can be very sensitive to people or electrical devices nearby. So, when testing, it is best to step back and wait for a couple of seconds to determine the actual signal strength.

    Performance

The box says 60-mile range but installing any antenna indoors presents challenges to performance. Mohu’s outdoor omnidirectional version has the same listed range and is installed in the same area can pick up 78 stations with 26 stable. The Arc Pro picks up a maximum of 19 stations with 14 stable. A more direct comparison would be with an indoor non-amplified leaf style antenna. While this style picks up 14 stations with an average signal strength of 2 out of 5, the Arc Pro improves this average a signal of 4 to 5 and noticeably fewer artifacts or dropouts. The five additional stations the Arc Pro allows are intermittent with heavy artifacts and so they don’t add to the total channel count.

    Final Thoughts

It must be said that if your priority is maximum signal strength, then you should look at Mohu’s external omnidirectional antennas. It is hard to compare anything indoors to the advantages of an antenna outdoors with no obstructions. However; if your priority is sleek design in a small package indoors, then the Arc Pro can serve you well. Just be sure to keep your expectations in check. This won’t necessarily bring you more channels than a standard antenna, but it will help you find optimum placement faster and help you get solid reception for those stations when compared to its non-amplified counterpart. If you are looking for solid reception indoors in a small package, the Mohu Arc Pro warrants consideration.

    A really good looking antenna

The Mohu ARC looks great. I have a Mohu Leaf 50 and although it's flat and minimalist, it does look a bit older or cheaper than the ARC. Mohu made an antenna that looks stylish, and that is great if your best place for it is a bookshelf, a wall shelf, on top of a stand, or anywhere else it will be visible. In the end, however, the biggest feature for an antenna is really what the range is it supports, and what the actual range is it achieves.

My MOHU Leaf is a 50 mile amplified antenna, and it has struggled to pull in all the channels I expect. According to antenna mapping sites like TVFool.com and the FCC.gov reception map, I should be able to pick up between 10-12 stations, considered "moderate" range, within 40 miles. I have been able to pull in only 3, however, with my MOHU Leaf. Part of it could be topography and trees, and part could be the antenna. The 60 mile range of the ARC got me excited for a better solution, though, that might actually pull everything in that I was expecting, and for someone who has cut ties with cable companies this is important. When testing, though, my results were mostly the same as I had with the Leaf, though there was one bedroom where the Leaf performed a little better than the ARC.

The problem with an antenna like this is you are more susceptible to interference from trees, weather, and other exterior forces, or simply the fact that you live at the bottom of a hill, or surrounded by trees. Given that my Leaf has practically the same performance as the ARC, I can't judge and say that, performance wise, the ARC is better. Even though the specs on the paper would point to the ARC as the better option.

Back to the design, however, the ARC excels over the Leaf, not only looking cooler, but also sporting upgraded features. The ARC features a signal indicator integrated into the front of it to make it easier for finding the best location with the strongest signal. It works well, and is simplistic, to not draw too much attention to it. Additionally, the ARC has an improved amplifier on it which is supposed to clear up the signal to avoid some distortion and clean up the image. I didn't notice any major changes in image quality between my Leaf and the ARC, so I will take their word for it. Overall, the design of the antenna looks and feels good, but there isn't really much to it, though that's a good thing.

In the end, I can't fault the Mohu ARC for my lack of channels right now since it falls in line with past antenna experiences. I do think that I should detect more with the ARC than the Leaf based on information I've read and the listed range of it. However, I am happy with the Mohu ARC as a package and will continue relocating and comparing with the Leaf until I am satisfied with the results.

Because much of the performance is trial-and-error adjustments, I can't really negate my experience, as I know what to expect when trying to get a digital antenna to work. I do recommend this antenna as one to try provided you set your expectations properly, especially if it is going to be visible. Be prepared to mess with the placement of it until you get a good signal and result, and then worry about it being visible, or not. I also highly recommend using an Antenna reception/mapping tool to determine if this will be a good choice for you.

    VERY Picky Reception

I am not a huge fan of this antenna because the reception can be VERY picky. My area normally has about 10 regular (non-HD) over-the-air channels. Living in a shared environment where my bedroom IS pretty much my apartment, space is limited. Although this antenna is mountable, for convenience, I placed it vertically with the built-in easel stand on top of my home theatre system but below my television. I've heard placing it near a window could help with reception. However, I don't feel I really have that option because my bedroom window isn't very close to my television.

    Did not work for me

My expectations were too high when i decided to go locally looking for few local channels. I have downloaded the RCA app on my iPhone, unfortunately it showed me 5 nearby station, but I said it is ok lets search and see. All what I got is 15 channels. Some are HD when others are no clear and picture comes and goes. I pointed my antenna towards the station and moved it around trying to get better picture. From my “own” experience, this antenna just added few channels that I don't watch often and pictures is not as good as my top box’s. It can be case by case, location to location.

Strong signal and easy to find towers with app

Great antenna for anyone that wants to tune in local channels and "cutting the cord". The RCA app makes it very easy to locate your local towers, that way you can position the antenna facing them to get the most channels with a strong signal.

I was able to use it to pick up most of my local channels and the included amplifier/filter definitely helps with boosting the signal, it also states will filter out interference from phone signals.

Installing the antenna was as easy as plugging it first to the amplifier, from there to the tv (they include a lengthy cord) and then plugging the amplifier to a power outlet.

Highly recommend it to anyone wanting to tune to local channels in HD!

Only Works In Living Room – Fantastic Reception

Only Works In Living Room – But Fantastic Reception

Cut the 'cord' five years ago, and have dealt with the Over-The-Air-TV issues ever since. I live in a rural North Florida and the surrounding areas are heavily wooded. On good reception days I can get as many as 21 TV channels. However, good reception is dependent on so many variables like atmospheric and weather conditions, leaves on trees, line of sight to the towers, distance from the towers, building interference, and a host of other kinds of things. I was presented with an opportunity to review an RCA Amplified Indoor Flat HDTV Multi-Directional Antenna in exchange for the product. I had nothing to lose, so I was anxious to try this antenna out to see if it could improve my TV reception and make it more stable, less pixelated and uninterrupted.

Since I had four Smart TVs with poor reception, I first, installed this antenna in my Family Room. After scanning I picked up the same amount of channels, but greatly improved the reception on six of them. I kept the antenna in the family room for several more days to see if anything would further improve – it didn't happen. So, I moved this antenna to each of the bedrooms to check out the quality of reception. Both bedrooms were pretty much the same scenario of the Family Room. My Living Room is on the opposite end of the house from my Family Room and bedrooms. After setting up the antenna in the Living Room I went to the RCA Signal Finder app and positioned the antenna the same direction the app indicated for my other three rooms. I was immediately amazed at how good the TV reception was on all 21 channels. The colors were more vibrant, deeper, brighter, and, I felt I was finally receiving 1080i reception. WooHoo!

The RCA Amplified Antenna obviously will work great when the variables of good TV reception are in place. A lesson I learned - Replace your old cable, replace your old splitter, couplings, and wall plates and flyleads. Your TV reception is only as good as its weakest point. After installing the RCA Amplified Antenna in my Living Room I discovered the antenna I was using was not multi-directional, the cable was nicked in several places and over 30 years old, and the coupling was oxidized. Replaced all of it. YIKES! This RCA antenna has been in my Living Room for over a week now and the reception has been exceptionally good, no interference, no choppy sound, or pixelation, whatsoever. YooHoo!

I highly recommend this RCA Amplified Indoor Flat HDTV Multi-Directional Antenna at locations in your home where it will be able to take advantage of good TV reception variables. One thing I have learned is that antennas will work well in some places of your home, but maybe not in others. They need to be placed as high up as possible and nearest windows. Don't be afraid to move them around and try different locations

Living between Chicago and Milwaukee, I'm at the fringe of the antenna's range, 35 and 55 miles, north and south.

At ground level, the antenna does receive a signal fairly well, but on cloudy days, no such luck. (Line of sight at the horizon is 30-miles. )

I have a RCA outdoor antenna on a mast that is similar, square and omnidirectional, and it receives a more reliable signal. But, it is 20-feet in the air.

Instructions say to place near a window, as building structures weaken any radio signal. For it's price, functionality and looks, this antenna is a fair purchase.

With more high rises being built in downtown Chicago, who knows what's happening to the OTA broadcast signals.

APP: the app is useful in regards to seeing the direction and distance from the transmission towers. Other than that, don't expect anything super special. Just helps me know the distance and direction.

Good antenna but had installation issue.

Decent indoor amplified antenna with installation issue. Read further.

    Installation

So right up front I had issues. The screws that it came with 1 of the heads had a slight defect and could not fit the mounting hole. In addition the slop or lack of slop with the given screws is not enough. I other words I could not use the supplied screws to mount.

Other than that plug in power and plug coax into TV and you are all set.

    Appearance

Looks nice. It actually looks like a sound bar. You can either display it or hid it behind your TV. Either way it worked.

    Performance

It picked up almost full bars in my garage which has stuff all over the place and has stucco. Picture quality was good. I was able to pickup all the local digital channels with no problems.

    Overall good product.

Even with the installation issue I would recommend it. Just use different screws if you buy this.

    Decent reception

With the rapid increase in cord-cutting (ending cable subscription) finding a good premium OTA antenna to pull in current HD 1080i (ASTC 2.0) or near future 4K (ASTC 3.0 Next Gen) broadcast content is vital since plenty of TV shows, local news and sports can be viewed for free. Major broadcasting station offer channels for free via over-the-air that is accessed with an antenna but getting these channels in can be a pain since there are so many factors that affect reception quality. The Core Innovations - Indoor TV Antenna pick ups station signals very well in my area and should also work well with others under ideal circumstances.

Design wise I’m impressed with the small form factor and slick modern look that fits in well with décor of other devices. In my case, the lady of the house hated having the previous antenna hanging on the wall and prefers this one. It looks like a cool tech device rather than others that’s obviously an antenna. As another option you can just place the antenna out of sight behind TV.

Instructions were easy to follow and after connecting to TV and plugging in, the antenna pulled in 96 channels on TV scan. All my desired channels come in and are stable with an additional bonus of one that did not come in with prior antennas, that station is PBS and I’m extremely happy. :) Other features such as signal indicator makes things so much easier for you when it comes to placement and 3G/4G/5G LTE (cellular signals tends to interfere with TV signal) filtering is another one.

When searching for an indoor antenna, you must do some research first, for example I’m around 25 miles away from broadcast towers, so considered an ideal candidate for an amplified indoor antenna according to https://www.antennasdirect.com. At a minimal it is key that you find out how many miles you’re away from the towers, for example, folks in a rural area with mountains far away from towers and would need an outdoor antenna but there is still no guarantee that you will pull in stations Your results will vary on any antenna depending on the situation so don’t expect any miracles.

Now for the bad stuff: a USB for the power source would have been better in my opinion. Power cord is also too short.

Good Reception and Small Form Factor

The Core TV antenna bar is lightweight and has a surprisingly small footprint. In the box you get the antenna with built-in amplifier, power cable, built-in coax cable, and mounting screws with anchors. The antenna can be setup to stand on a table/tv stand or you can set it on top of your TV. Setup is as simple as it can be since you only need to connect the power cable and coax cable. It has a signal meter that lights up on the front of the antenna so you can get an idea of optimal position. You can rotate the antenna on it’s base 180 degrees which helps to orient it in an optimal position. I was able to pick up 15 channels initially, but they were cutting in and out. Rotating the antenna 90 degrees helped and all but 4 of the channels were picked up with good signals. Rotating the antenna back to the normal position allowed me to get the other 4 channels without them cutting out. In my area, the 15 channels are what I expect to pick up, so it did receive all available channels near me. There are some additional TV stations 70 miles from me, but the antenna didn’t pick up any of those. This may have been due to terrain since that is near the maximum 80 mile range that Core indicates this antenna has. The highest resolution of the 15 was 720 and the lowest resolution was 480. According to Core, the antenna is capable of receiving up to a 4K signal which is a good feature for when stations begin to broadcast in 4K. I live in a hurricane and tropical storm prone area, so having the antenna will help when I have no land line power and I’m running my TV and this antenna off of a portable lithium battery. It’s small footprint and it being lightweight helped since it ended up being better for me to setup the antenna on top of my TV instead of leaving it on my TV stand. It works as expected and will be helpful when my area has bad weather. I would recommend the Core indoor TV antenna bar to anyone wanting to receive over the air TV broadcasts with an indoor antenna.

    Great reception

I quit Cable TV about 5 years ago and have used an indoor antenna ever since. Cable did give us more channels, but there were only 2 or 3 of the many available that we watched so it wasn’t worth the cost.

The indoor antenna bar that I’ve been using for 5 years has a 50 mile range. I’m able to get 17 channels with it, but I was having trouble with the sound and reception - even though the broadcast towers are less than 15 miles away. The sound wouldn’t start until the TV had been on for about 15 seconds. The sound also cut out periodically and the picture would go haywire if anyone walked in front of the antenna bar. The antenna had to be adjusted whenever the station was changed.

The Core Innovations indoor antenna bar has a 80 mile range. I was hoping for more stations, and by repositioning the antenna and re-scanning, I was eventually able to pick up 23. But the reception for the additional 9 stations was so poor I had to delete them and stay with the original 17. But the reception for those 17 channels is greatly improved over my old antenna. We haven’t had any problems in the 5 days since I installed it. There is no picture distortion when walking past it. The sound comes on instantly when the TV is turned on and it doesn’t cut out.

When installing it, it was nice to have the signal strength bar on the front of the antenna to help position it in the optimal direction.

My old antenna had the option of plugging into the TV HDMI port or a wall outlet. The only power source option for the Core Innovations antenna is an electrical outlet. When I attached the coaxial cable to the TV and placed the antenna bar on top of the display case (where I get the best reception), the electrical cord on the antenna was about 8 inches too short. I rigged up an extension cord, but because of the configuration of the cabinet the TV sits on and all the things that are plugged into the surge protector, it’s a stretch. I don’t have much room to maneuver the antenna bar without pulling the plug. But so far the reception has been stable where I’ve positioned it.

I would highly recommend this indoor antenna bar and I would highly recommend using an antenna bar instead of cable. Installation is simple - power cord to the electrical outlet and coaxial cable to the TV antenna input port. My only suggestion would be to provide a longer power cord.

    Significantly outperforms in my location

The Core Innovation Indoor Antenna Bar is a simple design, with a lightweight bar shape, and two included lengths of cable. One cable is a 75 ohm connection that needs to plug into most modern digital TVs. The other provides power for the built-in (and hidden) antenna and needs a standard outlet for the small power brick. Setup takes mere moments (unless your TV antenna input is hidden and awkwardly oriented as mine always seem to be).

I’m not going to attempt to explain why I had the best signal performance in my troubling location, but I have the evidence. Every year or so, I tempt frustration and futility by acquiring another OTA digital antenna. I’m not far from the broadcast antennas which co-locate on a well known high spot in my region. But, I happen to live on the wrong side of a hill which, along with too many taller nearby homes, confounds my reception. This time, however, I found and was able to watch a larger group of stations. With minimal fussing, they all presented stable signals that were easily tuned with some simple re-orientation of the antenna.

I’m sold. This really is an innovative solution, even if I don’t know why.

    Some design limitations

I have tried several antennas since cutting cable over a year ago. I do like that this has lights to show you the strength of the signal. I don't find I get any more channels than the other antennas I have tried.

Some design issues- They have the power cord and cord to the TV separate. I have used antennas that have the power connected near the TV and then you can move just the antenna around to find a signal. This model requires you to find a location near a plug. The cord to the TV is also shorter than other's I have used.

I also don't like that they don't give you a template for installing the screws to mount the unit. I measured but was off slightly and had to drill new holes. Frustrating! It's simple to include a small piece of paper with the template.

I found a good location in m room by putting it on a picture frame while I tested the signal. When I found the location I liked I mounted it just above the picture frame (about 1-foot difference) and I lost 10 channels including the ones I was particularly interested in! Both locations had 3 bars. I have put it back hanging on the picture frame for now and have two holes where the screws were.

    Great reception!

Great indoor antenna. My TV is able to find around 89 digital channels (didn't know they were so many). Install on my case was easy. Its kind of a weird antenna, compared to other ones. It almost looks like a small sound bar. You can either place it flat on your tv stand, or you can wall mount it (they include wall studs and screws). The coaxial and power cable are long enough that I don't think anyone wall mounting it would have any problems. Once the power is plugged in, there are 3 LED bars on the front that will tell you the signal strength (only con is I didn't see a way to dim or turn off those leds, they stay on even if your TV is off, unless you unplug the antenna's power brick), that way you can mount it on a good spot (its always good to look online, to where are you stations antennas placed in your city, that way you can face the antenna to them, for better reception).

In my case, all the channels it found had clear image and reception, lots on them on HD and with dolby audio. It says on its specs it filters any celular 4G and 5G signals out that may case interference, can't test that, but at least, me having my cell phone and my internet router in the same room, doesn't seem to affect the great signal at all. Highly recommend it! Cut the cord!

    POWERFUL INDOOR SMART HDTV ANTENNA

The Winegard PureTV Pro 60 - Indoor Smart Amplified HDTV Antenna With Bluetooth Technology Signal Meter will certainly appeal to “cord-cutters” who desire to reduce or eliminate their cable TV or streaming subscription TV expenses by watching HD broadcast television, including the major networks, without charge. However, an HDTV antenna also has potential for people with unreliable cable or satellite TV services and for people who do not have cable TV available to them.

Prior to 2009, broadcast television was analog. Obtaining an acceptable television signal was accomplished by repositioning the antenna while watching the TV reception until the optimum viewing image was obtained. A weak signal degraded TV image quality, resulting in “snow” or “ghosting”, however it might still be adequate for viewing.

On June12, 2009 the FCC mandated the transition from analog to digital television broadcasting. Digital television allowed for greater spectrum efficiency, and the FCC was able to recover a significant amount of Radio Frequency (RF) spectrum, the majority of which was auctioned to cellular providers, with a small portion of spectrum reserved for public safety.

The consequences of digital television frequently include lower range for TV signals, as well as reduced in-building penetration. Wherein a weak analog television signal degraded picture quality, but might still be viewable, a weak digital television signal results in no useable picture at all.

Outdoor antennas elevated on masts or roof mounts will almost always outperform indoor antennas, but installing one is not always practical. Watching digital broadcast television with an indoor antenna can be challenging. The number of viewable television stations will be limited to those with sufficient signal strength to reach the building, and to penetrate the walls and roof of the structure.

With conventional digital television antennas, time and effort is needed to repeatedly reposition the antenna and perform the slow process of rescanning the channels on the television in an effort to find the best antenna position.

The Winegard PureTV Pro 60 Antenna accelerates, refines and improves this optimization process and rapidly and efficiently facilitates mounting the antenna in the best location and orientation to receive the greatest number of television channels. The Winegard PureTV Pro 60 accomplishes this by including an inline receiver, which acts as an RF signal strength meter, to scan the television frequencies and transmit the acquired channel and signal strength data via Bluetooth to your smartphone. The Winegard PureTV Pro 60 also includes an integral signal amplifier, which improves the signal strength from the antenna elements to the television.

The Winegard PureTV Pro 60 is comprised of a thin 12”x13” flexible vinyl panel, within which antenna elements for reception of both VHF and UHF frequencies are embedded. The vinyl is white on one side and black on the other.

A 1 dB gain signal amplifier is attached to the antenna panel and a 15’coaxial cable is permanently connected to the amplifier and then routes to the RF receiver unit, which requires USB power. A 120 volt A/C power supply is included, with a 35” long USB –A to micro USB cable. The receiver can also be powered from a USB port on the television.

The mini RG59 coaxial cable exiting the receiver unit is 41” in length, and is terminated with an “F” connector for connecting to the RF port on the television. The overall length of the coaxial cable between the antenna and the television is 18.5’. Inasmuch as the cable distance between the TV and the inline receiver unit is 41”, and the USB power cable is 35” in length, it may be challenging to access a 120 VAC power outlet within 35” of the receiver. I found it necessary to power the receiver from a USB port on the television. The coaxial cable connections to the antenna panel and the receiver unit are all captive, permanent attachments.

The Winegard Connected app (Android and iOS versions– I used Android) is employed to optimize the antenna installation location and orientation.

In order to use the Winegard Connected app, it is required that a Winegard website account be created. The login credentials (email and password) are the same for the website and app. I do not believe that an online account with a manufacturer should be a prerequisite to using their smartphone app and television antenna. As part of the setup process, the Winegard Connected app requires scanning the QR code on the antenna’s receiver unit and pairing via Bluetooth. I received repeated error messages in the app that the receiver could not be accessed or successfully paired. Those error messages were erroneous. In fact, the receiver had successfully paired with the smart phone, and ignoring the error messages and proceeding with scanning for channels worked fine. The app uses the phone’s GPS location, or a manually entered address in order to ascertain the broadcast tower location and channel data. Following the instructions for experimentally positioning and repositioning the antenna and determining the best mounting location was easily facilitated by the antenna’s receiver unit. The channel scanning process is rapid, therefore repositioning the antenna until the app reports the maximum number of channels is quick and easy. Final mounting of the antenna is accomplished with the two included 3M Command strips.

The Winegard antenna is directional, as are most TV antennas. Winegard instructs to allow 6 – 12 seconds between each antenna repositioning and channel rescan, to allow the electronics and the app to update the data. However, I observed that the channel quantity, particularly of moderate and weak channels reported by the app, fluctuated while the antenna panel remained in a fixed, stationary position. I do not know if the fluctuations are attributable to hardware or software. Nevertheless, the app was consistent in reporting the best channel scan results when the antenna was positioned in the same, optimal location.

I installed the Winegard Connected app on two Android phones with different versions of Android. The issues with pairing (erroneous error messages) and channel data fluctuations were consistent. An additional issue was that the app failed to close upon exit. Resultantly, it was necessary to force close the app.

Since all RF including television signals are attenuated by physical barriers, including walls, roofs, trees and other buildings in the RF signal path, and signal strength is further attenuated by the density of those obstructions, it may be necessary to relocate the antenna several times in order to find the best mounting location. In general, a window may provide better received signal strength, while a concrete wall or metal house siding may attenuate the RF signal significantly.

The Summary View in the app presents each channel scan result in the form of Total Available Channels, as well as quantifying the Strong, Moderate and Weak Channels. The List View depicts the channels being received, including Channel Number, Network and Signal Strength. The List View facilitates ensuring that the most desired, “must see” channels are available with sufficient signal strength. The Map View graphically depicts the television broadcast towers in the area, and the relative signal strength from each.

The installation process is completed by scanning channels on the connected television after mounting the antenna.

Once I had accomplished the antenna optimization process, I elected to compare the effectiveness of the Winegard PureTV Pro 60 antenna, which includes a signal amplifier and boasts a 60 mile range, to an inexpensive, non-amplified HDTV antenna, which costs about $15.00 and claims a 30 mile range.

Additional online resources which provide channel availability and RF signal sufficiency information for a particular geographic location are antennaweb.org and tvfool.com. By entering an address at these sites the user may determine which stations have the best relative signal strength and thus the best potential for viewing, even with an indoor antenna.

The websites advised that 21 - 23 high-power TV channels were within approximately 40 miles.

The Winegard PureTV Pro 60 antenna found a total ranging from 42 - 65 channels, 20 - 23 of which were classified as having a “strong” signal. The television received 33 watchable channels.

The inexpensive, non-amplified antenna, received only 19 channels.

Winegard manufactures numerous HDTV antennas. Among the indoor models is the Flatwave Amped Pro – Model TH3000. I have confirmed that the Winegard PureTV Pro 60 – Model BBXP60R and the Winegard Flatwave Amped Pro – Model TH3000, are the same, identical antennas. In fact, the bag containing the USB cable and power block is labeled “TH3000”. The only difference between those models is the list price, with the TH3000 being 10% more expensive.

Overall, the Winegard PureTV Pro 60 exceeded expectations. It received 14 more channels than a standard indoor antenna. Thanks to the built-in receiver paired to a smartphone app, the channel scanning process and identification of the optimal mounting location was accomplished in just minutes. The Winegard app clearly needs improvement, but it still served its primary function and made the process of finding the best antenna mounting location very quick and easy. The Winegard Pure TV Pro 60 is an excellent indoor HDTV antenna.

    Powerful, Bluetooth-Enabled HD Reception Aid!

The Winegard Pure TV smart amplified HDTV antenna is a very effective way to obtain free, high quality over-the-air HD signals to your digital television.

Winegard, a privately-owned firm, was incorporated in Burlington, Iowa in 1954. Its founder, John Winegard, developed the first antenna capable of receiving more than one television channel. The company expanded its product line to include AM/FM, cellular, WiFi, satellite internet and internet-of-things antenna, amplifier and related reception equipment.

Most consumers are unaware that you do not need to subscribe to a cable or satellite television providers to watch all of the major networks and many of the secondary television channels. Since June 2019 all over-the-air television broadcasting in the United States has been digital. This has greatly improved signal reception (compared to the old analog transmissions) and all televisions built in the past ten years include the ability to receive these digital signals. Access to a wide variety of free programming just requires the use of an appropriate HDTV antenna. The Winegard Pure TV indoor smart amplified HDTV antenna will provide excellent reception of these digital broadcasts even if you are distant from the transmitting antenna sources.

Besides access to free over-the-air television stations, this antenna can serve as an invaluable game-saver if your cable ever goes out during a major network event (such as the SuperBowl) which you planned to watch. And since the signal is not compressed (as nearly all cable signals are) the picture quality will actually exceed that of a cable provider.

    Here are its key features:

    • Winegard Pure TV Pro 60 Indoor Smart Amplified HDTV Antenna: Model BBXP60R

    • Integrated two stage amplifier boosts weak signals

    • Built-in signal strength meter (via app)

    • Includes Winegard Connected directional signal finding app

    • Ultrathin flat antenna, white on one side, black on other

    • Substantial surface area: 13” Wide x 11.8” Tall

    • 226” integrated coax connection cable (42” to inline amplifier, 181” to antenna)

    • 36” USB mini-B power cord for amplifier

    • 5 volt, 600mAmp power source adaptor

    • Two-sided mounting tape pads included

    • Full easy to follow illustrated instructions

    • One year limited warranty

Setup is easy. First, download the Winegard Connected app. This app connects to the antenna amplifier via Bluetooth and utilizes your phone’s GPS to locate broadcast antennas. The app gives three views to help you position the antenna. The first is a summary of total channels available in three categories (strong, moderate and weak signal strength). Next is a map view which shows the location of all broadcast antennas. Finally, there is a channel listing which allows you to fine tune the antenna position to maximize reception for a specific channel. In just a couple of minutes, you should have access to a wide variety of HD stations!

But a word of caution – follow the instructions and you will get much better results!

I live in a high rise on the lakefront in Downtown Chicago, near the buildings which house the broadcast antennas for all local channels. I have to confess that the first time I tried the antenna I did not bother to use the Connected app. I thought I could just attach the antenna to a window with some painter’s tape and that would be sufficient. I ran a channel scan and it showed 36 channels being received. I was impressed, but when I tried to watch the channels some were pixelated and some important local stations were not even on the list. I was frustrated, so I did what I should have done in the first place – I read the instructions and downloaded the Winegard Connected app to my phone.

I did that simple process and repositioned the Winegard Pure TV Pro 60 HDTV antenna in the indicated direction, then ran the channel scan again. Boom! 82 channels showed up this time, including every station that had been missing! I was very impressed.

The Winegard antenna is very well built. It is light in weight and very easy to position. I used some blue painter’s tape (which won’t harm surfaces) to hold the antenna in various locations until I was satisfied with the reception. To permanently mount it you can use the two-sided mounting pads included or just continue to use tape. The connecting cable is very generous – more than 18 feet long – so you have a lot of maneuvering room for locating the antenna.

The power cable to the inline amplifier is long enough to reach the outlet to which the TV is plugged, or you can attach the USB connection on the power cord to a USB outlet on the TV itself.

When you do determine the best location for the antenna be sure to place it as high in the room as possible. This will improve signal reception since the furniture, appliances and power cords (all of which may impair signal conductivity) in your home will all be located below four feet in height.

Overall, I have to say that Winegard has added another fine product to its outstanding collection of antennas. I am happy to give this great device a strong recommendation! Buy it and you will be very happy with its ease of installation and outstanding performance.

GOOD ANTENNA / NOT MAGIC – APP HELPFUL / IMPERFECT

I am an Antenna fan. I have used and deployed antennas of all sorts and usually we always use an antenna for TV unless there was a “free” bundle from the cable company. As soon as they increase the rates we cancel and go back to antenna for a few years.

I have used this style of amplified flat antenna before from other makers with mixed results. The problem is that HD Broadcast frequencies are directional. This is what was interesting about this antenna is that it has a built in signal meter monitored via Bluetooth app on your phone to help you find the perfect location.

Generally, what you need is an unobstructed view (window) facing the direction of your stations. If you have this, then this antenna (WINEGARD PURETV PRO 60) should work well for you. However, if as in my case the stations are “due south” and all your windows are East / West, then you are probably out of luck (in my case South is a brick wall followed by a neighbor’s house and mature trees).

For me the WINEGARD - PURETV PRO 60 antenna itself could not change the laws of physics and bring in stations it could not “see”.

The main advantage was I could use the meter to help get some clues where to at least bring in a few stations, just not enough stations. In my case, the only thing that will work is an outdoor antenna. I was hoping to avoid running more cable to get a signal in my home office room.

No points off for not being magic. It worked well for the few stations I could bring in. It is not the antenna's fault I have no south facing windows. I tried the antenna outdoors, pointing the correct direction and it instantly brought in a ton of stations. I’m not suggesting to use it outdoors, just because of my lack of south windows that was the only way to test it.

    BEST FEATURES

    - App for Optimizing placement

    - Long Cable

    - Included Charger

    - Sturdy Construction much more durable than others I’ve used

    SETUP / UNBOXING / ETC

Everything you need is included, and there is a nice long cable (about 15-20ft) to let you try all sorts of locations for optimal signal.

Unfortunately, the included manual (1 page) does nothing to help you learn the fundamentals of where / how to place an antenna or explain the app. Or even simple questions.

The APP is OK, but it could use some improvement. It took a few tries to get the phone paired to the antenna. Also, make sure you SCAN THE ANTENNA CODE ON THE AMPLIFIER, NOT THE MANUAL CODE. I’ve seen reviews where users were trying to scan the code on the instruction page, but you need to use the sticker on the amp unit.

At one point the app stopped communicating with the antenna, I kept getting a message about device failure and to reboot. In the end I had to delete the antenna from the app, reboot everything and start over. I had this happen a few times over the course of my testing.

Again, the App was helpful, but there are some little things that you should be aware of. First it seems to be detecting the more powerful ATSC 3.0 antennas that are not fully operational. When I look at a list of stations most of the ones that are green are in the format wxyz-NG. I assume NG stands for Next Generation (the generic name for 4K broadcast slowly rolling out in the USA), but there no help for what this means, whereas wxyz-DT1 (I assume Digital 1), is RED.

For example, on the summary screen it might show 14 Green Stations, all but a few are nnnn-NG. Thus, my first attempt to place the antenna was flawed due to this and only using the summary page. It would be nice if you could “filter out” ATSC 3.0 signals from the summary page and related counts.

Next, the summary screen is overstating the signal strength by about 20%. It will show 20 green stations and 30 yellow stations. Every green station is still pixelated and Yellows don’t come in at all. If you go to the detailed list and click on that one station for detailed fine tuning. You will find all the “green stations” are now yellow and all the yellow stations are now orange or red. I assume the intent here it to make it look better on the summary page to claim it pulls in more stations than it really does. This is still helpful, but just keep in mind just because you show 20 green stations you still not might have any that are usable.

    SUMMARY / RECOMMENDATION

The app is a nice gimmick. It is somewhat functional, and somewhat helpful. This is all much better than yelling to (or at) your spouse to hold it higher or move to the left or whatever. Even so, it is hard to stand on a couch, hold the antenna with one hand, look at the phone on the other hand, then try to glance at the TV once in a while. I ended up taping the antenna to the wall, stepping back taking readings then repeating until I got as much green as I could on the summary page.

I would only recommend this if you already know that you have a clear view to the stations you want to pull in. The WINEGARD - PURETV PRO 60 seems to be a little above others that I have tried and it does bring in a few more stations than I could get with other indoor antennas. Maybe when ATSC 3.0 rolls out, I’ll have better luck with it.

GAMECHANGER - Indoor Smart Amplified BT Antenna

Winegard has been designing OTA antennas since its founding in 1953 when John Winegard invented the first multi-channel, reception antenna. Winegard is acknowledged as the foremost industry and world leader in TV signal reception. So, when I had an opportunity to review this PureTV Pro 60 - Indoor Smart Amplified HDTV Antenna – With Bluetooth Technology Signal Meter in exchange for the product I was excited to experience this new antenna technology. WoW! As a 'cord-cutter' I was absolutely amazed at how accurately this indoor, amplified antenna actually worked. First, I went from 22 OTA channels, which were a combination of good and weak signals, to 25 Strong signals and 4 Moderate for HDTV reception in less then 30 minutes. I picked up seven new stations. WooHoo! Using the Winegard Connected App I was able to locate the placement of this Winegard antenna to receive my optimum TV signal reception, and, fine tune a hard-to-get station using this on-board, Bluetooth Signal Meter.

Indoor antenna placement has always been a mysterious and tedious 'trial-and-error' challenge for me. However, Winegard has hit a home run with this PureTV Pro 60 - Indoor Smart Amplified HDTV Antenna. Out of the box it only took me about ten minutes to set-up the included hardware. After downloading the FREE Winegard Connected App I just followed the simple on-screen instructions to successfully install my antenna. This FREE App is available for downloading from the Google Play Store and, or, at the Apple App Store. The App-integrated signal meter is a 'Gamechanger' for accurate, easy, indoor antenna installations.

Advantages of the Winegard PureTV Pro 60 - Indoor Smart Amplified HDTV Antenna – With Bluetooth Technology Signal Meter:

** UNCOMPLICATED INSTALLATION – The included 'Quick Start Guide' details the steps for setting up the antenna hardware and downloading the Winegard App. The Power Amplifier unit requires a 120V power source, or, it can be plugged into the TV through the included USB cable. It easily paired with my cell after I downloaded the Winegard Connected App and established a FREE Winegard account. I then scanned the QR Code on my Power Amplifier to activate the on screen instructions for antenna set up. There is a flashing Blue LED on the amplifier unit for BT pairing. You can use your GPS location by default to find all the broadcast antennas in your area. You can also enter your street address if you choose. I used my GPS location for greater accuracy. While moving my antenna around for the best signal strength location I used Masking and Painters' tape to temporarily hold the antenna in place (see pics). This flat, two-sided antenna only weighs 7 ounces so, any kind of light-duty tape will hold the antenna in place. I was able to move this antenna around temporarily and also check my cell for the signal strength. This is easily a 'one-man' operation, but two people would probably make the whole process go even faster. The Signal Meter uses both visual and audio indicators. The built-in App-enabled Signal Meter gives me three on-screen views of signal strength; Summary, Map View, and List View (see pics). I used the Summary View indicating signal strength to initially locate my antenna for optimum channel reception. However, I kept the Masking tape on the antenna in case I had to further tweak the antenna placement. I wanted to Fine-Tune a station, which has always been pixelated and hard to receive, but still one of my favorites.

** FINE TUNE HDTV SIGNALS – Once I had my antenna placement optimized for most of my TV stations using the 'Summary View' I began the Fine-Tuning process for one of my preferred, hard-to-receive, stations. This App uses four colors for signal strength; Green for Strong signal, Yellow for Moderate, Orange for Weak, and Red for No signal. I went to the on-screen 'List View', which displays the Network, Signal Strength, Channel, Call Sign, and most importantly, the Fine Tuning Icon (see pics). I located that particular channel in the list and 'clicked' on its Fine Tuning Icon. The information displayed on the next screen was the channel, band, call sign and distance (from the broadcast antenna (see pics). The built-in Signal Meter displayed the Signal-To-Noise-Ratio (SNR) signal value in 'Real Time', which is the actual received signal strength. At first I received a very low number,10 (Red) reception range. I then started to move the antenna around in each direction ever so slowly. After several minutes I found the optimal signal for my station by moving my antenna approximately 12 inches to the right of its original, temporary placement. The real-time SNR on my cell now read 21dBm (see pics) and the signal was in the 'Moderate' (Yellow) reception range. The higher the SNR number the better the reception. I then ran a channel scan on my Smart TV and was super-delighted with the results. The Winegard Fine-Tuning Signal Meter allowed me to finally receive this hard-to-get station, and, without pixelation. YooHoo!

** WINEGARD CONNECTED APP - The on-screen instructions are so helpful, and include suggestions if I need help. Fine-Tuning hard to receive channels in real-time is the most amazing feature of this Winegard App. The App-integrated signal meter is a 'Gamechanger' for accurate, easy, indoor antenna installations.

** INCLUDED IN THE BOX – Winegard Power Amplifier with a USB port for connection to TV for power and, or, a 120V power plug-in adapter. There is a separate USB cable and 18.5 foot mini coaxial cable from the power amplifier to the antenna. The 12 inch by 13 inch flat, multi-directional antenna is two sided. One side is colored white and the other is black to match the painted finishes. Two 3-M Command Adhesive strips are also included for final antenna placement.

** TIPS FOR ANTENNA PLACEMENT – High as possible. Temporarily mount antenna for optimum reception using cellophane tape, painter's tape, or any kind of masking tape. These tapes will NOT harm your wall finishes when removed. Place the antenna in or near a window if possible.

I highly recommend this Winegard PureTV Pro 60 - Indoor Smart Amplified HDTV Antenna – With Bluetooth Technology Signal Meter. It is so user-friendly to set up and gives outstanding results for indoor HDTV reception. This unit is in my Living Room, and I am purchasing another for my Master Bedroom. This Winegard OTA antenna technology will make 'cord-cutting' so easy and practical. Winegard' competition has a lot of catching up to do.

    Amazing quality antenna!

First of all, I have been using a different name brand antenna for my over-the-air (OTA) TV watching for several years now and the difference is night and day!

The antenna is packaged in fully recyclable materials, kudos for that!

The exterior of the packaging claims installation is as easy as 1-2-3.

Well, let me tell you, it actually is.

I downloaded the app, connected the coaxial cable to my TV and even before I ran the channel scan, I started getting TV channels!

After connecting the antenna to the TV, I used the app to determine the best position (I used a piece of tape for temporary hold) and after running the channel scan, I found I could receive 200+ channels!

I love the signal meter! It makes it easy to determine optimal antenna placement.

Some channels that were more distant ( I assume) pixelated a bit at times, but the rest came in strong and clear.

Everything I needed was included in the box, even the coaxial cable, power adapter and 3M(TM) Command brand strips to fix it to the wall.

The antenna is 2-sided, one black, one white to match most decors.

It even receives 4K transmissions that look amazing in my 4K TV.

I couldn't be happier with the quality of the video.

I had thought it was impossible in my area and I have been paying satellite and cable companies forever since I wasn't satisfied with the quality of any of my prior attempts to get OTA TV.

    Highly recommended!

    Nice antennae, useful app

This smart antennae works quite well, but the app sometimes experiences trouble connecting to it. Overall, the antennae is simple to hook up, and the coax cable was more than long enough for me to test signal reception at various places around the room. As far as size goes, the antennae is a bit thicker than high quality printer paper, and it's footprint is about 50% larger than the same printer paper, so it's not overly noticeable. Installing the app was simple, but I have had some trouble connecting the app to the antennae. I originally tried to power the antennae using the USB port on my TV, but when I tired this, the connection process on the app always failed. Using the USB wall power adapter fixed this problem for the most part, but I still have to occasionally cut the power to the antennae and then reconnect it if I want to get the app to connect. Once connected, the app does a good job of showing signal strengths of the various stations it finds, as well as showing the mapped location of each station along with a listing of station info (network, call sign, and channel), so it's fairly easy to find a location for the antennae that will give you the best reception. One additional feature of the app that I found useful was the ability to fine tune a single station.

Overall, I think this antennae is a winner; it allows me to watch 23 stations, most of which are around 50 miles away, and I'm in a fairly rural mountainous area.

    Great antenna, horrible app

If I were only rating the antenna, it would easily be four, maybe even five stars. The antenna works amazingly, I've gone from getting about half a dozen channels to getting 48. The design is very unobtrusive and is easy to position without drawing attention to itself. And, it does deliver the promised HD quality.

Where this product falls short is the "easy to use app". It took several attempts to get the app to connect to the antenna and the app really did nothing to help after it was connected. No matter how I moved the antenna, it told me the exact same strength on all channels. When I tried doing it the "old fashioned way" of traying a position and running a channel scan on the TV, I was able to get another nearly 10 channels over what I got from the app. Yes, it took a lot longer, but the results speak for themselves.

Ultimately, I would recommend it to someone looking for a good quality antenna, but be ready to have to position the antenna the old fashioned way without the help of the app.

One feature to stand out above the rest...

It seems like every day, the cable or satellite companies lose channels due to financial disputes with the owners. More people are using services to stream shows now as a result. But not all of those offer local channels, or they charge extra for them, or maybe your Wifi isn’t the best and streaming is still a pain in buffering. In comes a TV antenna. There are literally tons of antennas for sale right now. You can still get the larger, bulkier, outdoor ones, but newer generations offer much smaller devices you can put inside your home on the wall or window and get a respectable amount of channels for free. The Winegard Pure TV Pro-60 antenna (made in the USA!) is one such device, with one feature that separates it from the others, which I’ll talk about in a moment.

When you take the Winegard out of the box, it looks exactly like many others – It’s a nearly paper thin, floppy square material that’s roughly 12 by 13 inches in size, that you stick on a wall or window using tape or the included 3m sticky stuff. It’s white on one side and black on the other to help match walls and décor. On the bottom of this “pad”, is a thin, white, coax cable that’s just over 18 feet in length; this also plugs into the back of your TV in the antenna port. A small white box is attached to this cable, and it’s a power booster (which helps boost the signal pick up to around 60 miles in some locations) and Bluetooth connect for that extra feature I mentioned. You use an included USB-to-mini USB cable (yes, I said mini-USB, as in, from like over a decade ago!) to connect to that power box, and you either plug the USB side into your TV if it has a powered USB port, or use the included A/C adapter to plug it into a wall outlet. Use some house tape at first to tape the pad to a wall or window temporarily, and you’re ready to start.

Next, you download the Winegard app from the Apple or Android store, create an account, and grant access to certain location services. You can a QR code on the antenna’s power box to register the device, and once finished and confirmed, it will have connected the app to your phone via Bluetooth (make sure it’s on!). It will then tell you the signal strength of where you placed your antenna, and how many channels you should get at that location with a strong, medium, or poor connection. It keeps renewing this scan every minute so you can move the antenna around to see how the numbers change. Even a few inches can make a difference. Initially, it said I had 48 “good” signal channels, but just moving it a few inches toward the door increased the number to 57 channels and an additional 34 in a moderate signal range. Keep in mind, I’m roughly 25 miles outside of Atlanta – the number of channels you will or will not be able to get will vary on where you live, the geography, miles to TV towers, etc.

From there, you go into your TV’s menu, let it do a channel scan for the antenna (varies per TV model) and you should be ready to go. I did indeed get around 57 good channels – most came in very good, even the lower resolution broadcast ones. A few came in very good at a sharp 1080p, and a handful actually came in at or near 4K quality. The moderate signal ones varied from ok to so-so. It’s possible for a few to actually look BETTER than they do on satellite or cable, because there is no middle man to compress them when sent to your home – you’re getting direct signals from the towers. Now, I get all of my local channels, and a few others of interest – old movie channels, free movie channels, etc. There’s a lot of religious channels and a few Latino channels as well. If you want to record these, there are over-the-air recording devices you can buy that will let you do this. Otherwise, you watch live.

So, the Winegard Pure TV Pro-60 antenna does cost a little more than other very similar antennas at around $90, but, you do get that extra Bluetooth app placement feature that to my knowledge, few if any have right now. I do think the app helps you find the best place to put this and saves you a TON of time not having to scan, re-scan, and re-scan channels again each time you move it around on your own. As always, look for it to go on sale, too. I’ve giving it 5 stars because it really does pull in some channels at 1080p to 4k that other antennas haven’t been able to do, due to this extra app/feature.

So, there’s a ton of decisions to make if you really want to “cut the cord” and ditch your satellite or cable company, and you have to make some smart decisions regarding which streaming devices you’ll use, how much data your home internet service gives you per month to do it, if your wifi is fast enough, etc. But at least with the Winegard, you can hopefully in your area, stream local stations and perhaps more, clearly, and without having to even worry about wifi or data use for those channels at least. Worth a try!

Excellent Signal-Boosting Power for Free HD TV!

The Voxx Terk amplified ultra-thin signal-finder HDTV antenna is an inexpensive and effective way to deliver free, over-the-air high quality HD signals to your television.

While most homes have access to cable or satellite television providers (for a monthly fee) it is still possible to watch all of the major networks for free using digital antennas. All over-the-air television broadcasting in the United States has been digital since 2009. This has greatly improved signal reception (compared to the old analog transmissions) and all televisions built in the past ten years include the ability to receive these digital signals. Access to a wide variety of free programming just requires the use of an appropriate HDTV antenna. The Voxx Terk model ThinTV3M is the best such antenna I have ever used.

Besides access to free over-the-air television stations, this antenna can serve as a game-saver if your cable ever goes out during a major network event (such as the SuperBowl) which you planned to watch.

    Here are its key features:

    • Voxx Terk Amplified Ultra-Thin Signal Finder HDTV Antenna: Model ThinTV3M

    • Integrated two stage amplifier boosts weak signals

    • Built-in LED signal strength meter

    • Includes Terk directional signal finding app

    • Ultrathin flat antenna, white on one side, black on other

    • Substantial surface area: 13” Wide x 12” Tall

    • 12 foot integrated coax connection cable

    • Two-sided mounting tape pads included

    • Full easy to follow illustrated instructions

    • Lifetime limited warranty

Setup is easy. First, download the Terk Signal Finder app and enter your address and check the stations you are most interested in viewing. Then use your phone to determine the optimal direction to align the flat HDTV antenna. Next, plug in the integrated amplifier and observe the LED signal meter as you position the antenna . Attach the coax connector to the television and scan for stations. In just a couple of minutes, you should have access to a wide variety of HD stations!

But a word of caution – follow the instructions and you will get much better results!

I live in a high rise on the lakefront in Downtown Chicago, near the buildings which house the broadcast antennas for all local channels. I have to confess that the first time I tried the antenna I did not bother to use the Signal Finder app. I thought I could just attach the antenna to a window (see photo) with some painter’s tape and that would be sufficient. I ran a channel scan and it showed 60 channels being received. I was impressed, but when I tried to watch the channels some were pixelated and some important local stations were not even on the list. I was frustrated, so I did what I should have done in the first place – I read the instructions and downloaded the Signal Finder app to my phone.

The Terk Signal Finder app is just a great piece of software – you simply enter your address or let the app use the phone’s location finder and then check off the stations you want to receive. I selected two local stations which had not appeared after my first scan. The app then shows you which direction to point the antenna. A red vector appears on a map and you rotate your phone until that red vector overlaps a green vector which shows the station you want. (See photo) Then just point your antenna in the same direction as your phone.

I did that simple process and repositioned the Terk flat HDTV antenna in the indicated direction, then ran the channel scan again. Boom! 80 channels showed up this time, including every station that had been missing! I was mucho impressed.

The Voxx Terk antenna is very well built. It is light in weight and very easy to position. I used some blue painter’s tape (which won’t harm surfaces) to hold the antenna in various locations until I was satisfied with the reception. To permanently mount it you can use thumbtacks in the two holes in the upper corners, the two-sided mounting pads included or just continue to use tape. The connecting cable is very generous – about 12 feet long – so you have a lot of maneuvering room for locating the antenna. There is an inline LED signal strength meter which can aid in positioning (see photo), but I would defer to the Signal Finder app’s direction-finding ability. The power cable to the inline amplifier (which is located in the same housing as the signal strength meter) is long enough to reach the outlet to which the TV is plugged.

I am delighted to give this great device my full and enthusiastic recommendation! Buy it and you will be very happy with its ease of installation and outstanding performance.

    Paper Thin, but non-removable amplifier

I have mixed feelings about the Terk Antenna.

Positives. It's paper thin and is able to be (mostly) discretely hidden. The free Terk app (iOS Terk Signal Finder) is a great way to work out 1) what channels are available in your area and 2) make sure you have the antenna positioned for optimal signal strength (see screenshot).

Negatives. I didn't realize until later that the antenna signal strength measurement/amplifier is non-removable and requires to be plugged into power. I have another similar style antenna (from another manufacturer) but the amplifier is removable and USB-powered. I wish Terk had offered a similar setup - at least with USB, you can usually power it from your TV.

Overall - yes, the Terk Antenna does what it should, I am able to watch HD antenna without cable! But I think this antenna is better if you're in a more remote area and need an always-on amplifier. If you don't need an always connected amplifier, then another antenna may better suit your needs. I'd definitely download the Terk App first (or use their excellent website) to make the right antenna choice.

HD Channels without the cable bill

The TERK HD antenna is a great way to bring all your local channels to your TV without having to pay a hefty cable bill. If your looking for a good receiver that won't let you down regardless of the weather then this may be the way you want to go. I'll try to keep this review short and simple and get to the point as to rather or not this is the right buy for you.

First off one of out of the box you get everything you need for set up. You get the main antenna, mounting stickers, free app that helps track signal stations, and a built in signal meter. Set up is very easy and there are two ways to accomplish this. First you can download the free app which will assist in proper placement of the antenna or second you can use the built in signal meter. Through the app you are able to mark off some of your favorite local TV stations that you really wish to see. From there it will ask for your address or you can either opt out and let the app use your current location. Once that info is entered it will pull up the local station towers that are near you. While holding your phone vertical the app will help as you adjust the placement of your phone, it will show you where your current signal is beaming out. What this does is help with placement of your antenna. For example lets say your holding your phone pointed North and there is a signal station off to the west. The app will give a radar like signal showing you which way your signal is heading out. Simply adjust your phone to the west until that radar like symbol engulfs the signal tower. While holding that position you now know which way your antenna has to face for the best signal. If all this seems a little confusing don't worry it really isn't. The antenna has a built in signal meter which helps to let you know that you are doing it right. There are four bars on the signal meter with Red being no signal and double green being the best. Simply adjust your antenna until both double green lights are lit for the best signal possible. Once that is done next simple go in to your TV's settings and start to scan for Air channels. The type of channels and how many you get will very depending on location and demographics. For my area i was able to pick up 70 channels including five Spanish networks. As far as channels go don't expect to get top tier cable channels such as Nick,MTV, etc. However you will receive all the basic channels for your sports need such as NBC, FOX, ABC, etc. and you can even expect to get some of the off brand more popular cable channels such as LAFF, HSN, and QVC just to name a few.

Now lets talk quality and reliability. Man oh man, i was blown away by how crisp and clean the picture quality was not mention how stable the signal was also. The picture quality was easily 1080p quality with no blurs, static and break in the picture. Over here where i live we have been having a lot of storms with lightning and not once did i experience any drop outs or break in my signal strength. The picture quality is what really had me in awe. I grew up in the 80's and i'm used to the old school rabbit ear antennas that give you junk quality where your have to constantly keep adjusting the antenna as picture quality is never consistent. The picture quality coming out from this antenna was just as good as my cable providers channels. This quality was so stable and clean that it seriously has me rethinking keeping my cable provider in lou of a digital antenna and streaming service such as Sling TV. I have set up several digital antennas for my grandparents seeing as how they can't afford cable, and one thing i can tell you is their signal and picture quality never looked this good.

Here's the bottom line guys. If your cable provider nickel and dimes you for every little receiver you borrow from them and your looking for a better alternative for your basic needs then this is definitely the way to go. There are three things that have me loving this set up, the amount of channels available, picture quality and the fact that it is literally paper thin. This is hands down one of the best receivers i have ever tested and what makes this unit so nice is how thin and clean the antenna looks. It doesn't look like the eye sore we all grew up with in fact in actually blended perfectly with my daughters wall. Look guys this a great unit that has yet to go down on me so far signal wise and i honestly feel this will please just about anyone out there.

    Pros:

    -Paper thin style

    -1080p picture quality

    -Built in signal meter

-Stability through all types of weather

    -Easy to mount

    Cons:

    -None as of yet

I've been wanting to get rid of the expensive monthly cable bill, as high as $260/month, so I began the search for an OTA antenna and settled on the Terk Amplified Ultra-Thin Signal Finder HDTV Antenna.

In the box is the antenna which measures 13" x 12" (and is paper-thin as described), 12' of coaxial cable (attached to the antenna), the power cord (attached to the coaxial cable) and two-sided mounting tape. I was a little concerned with the layout of the coaxial cable and the power cord, but turned out to not be an issue as there was a power outlet at the base of the window where the antenna ended up being mounted.

Installation couldn't be easier, connect the end of the coaxial cable to your antenna jack on the back of the TV, plug in the power, place the antenna and use the auto-scan feature on the TV to find the OTA broadcast channels that are available. During the auto-scan process, which took about 5 minutes, I downloaded the Terk app to my iPhone and searched for available towers broadcasting OTA signal. It's a really cool app and helped me fine tune where the antenna ended up being placed.

The hope was to pick up all the channels coming out of the Boston area, but we ended up being a bit too far away for reception, so changed the placement/angle of the antenna and ended up picking up 14 channels from towers in NH. Some are duplicates and some are Spanish speaking, but there were a handful of very clear channels. Definitely play around with the antenna before sticking it to the wall or window as the signal does improve with a bit of adjustment. I used the built-in Signal Meter on the cable to assist with finding the best placement/signal strength. It's essentially a colored meter that helps find the most powerful signal and is very useful.

    Pros:

    - Super easy installation and set up

    - TERK app for finding towers is super helpful for antenna placement

    - Built-In Signal Meter - assists with antenna placement

    Cons:

    - Felt that a bit more coaxial cable could be provided, it's 12' and ran out quickly when placing the antenna.

Overall I would recommend the Terk Amplified Ultra-Thin HDTV Antenna. It's affordable when compared to ongoing cable bills and super easy to install and set up. Unfortunately for me, we were too far away from Boston to pick up those channels as this model is made with approximately a 35 mile range. We are going to check out the TERK Omni-Directional, Amplified Digital Flat Outdoor HDTV Antenna so we can pick up more channels based on our location.

Great way to get over the air channels

Over the air channels come in clear and I’m happy with it overall. The setup is easy via the coaxial jack on your tv unit. Up and running fairly quickly when your tv searches for the new channels.

The recommended app for finding a signal can be useful to help you point and locate your antenna. In my area I’m getting about 24 channels which are good enough for me. I can’t afford to pay cable channel rates and have been happy with watching main network channels.

Overall I like the signal booster on the line to help show how strong my signal is. A nice antenna with a large footprint size that can be hung on a wall or window. Easy to use and install.

    Cut The Cord easily!!!!!

    SUMMARY

The Trek HDTV offers 65 miles range with signal boast and other vital features that make it very easy for someone to cut the cord from a a cable provider.

    THE GOOD:

    Thin

Phone app to find channels (antenna placement)

Signal meter indicator for channels (antenna placement)

Support for the future over the air 4K, 8K broadcasting ATSC 3.0

Smart Boast feature that blocks cell signals and other interference

    Lifetime warranty

    THE BAD:

    No USB port for power

    The antenna is big

Phone app for channels could be better

    PERFORMANCE:

It does the job when it comes to pulling in channels with 98 channels found after a scan, my older Mohu Leaf 50 antenna pulls in 83. The Trek signal finder app tells you where and how far away a TV station is which is good for placing the antenna at an optimal location for usual suspects like NBC,ABC,CW etc. but channels like MyTV or ION can’t be found with the app, so there is no way to search a certain channel from 98 that I have. Picture quality, signal strength is good for most of the channels.

    GRIPES

Really wish they used USB to power instead of a regular A/C plug.

    FINAL THOUGHTS:

Most first-time cord cutters will love this antenna since the guess work for placement is managed by the app and signal meter. The app will tell you in what direction to put the antenna and signal meter tells you if it’s weak or strong, this feature alone is worth 5 stars IMO.

    Free TV

First off this antenna is paper thin and light weight. The setup and install was very easy and fast. The amplifier needs to be plugged in to a 120v outlet and also connected to your TV. There is a Terk app to help you find what channels are available around you. I'm just out side of New Orleans and I found 18 channels and 3 of them are HD. The picture is crystal clear. This is a great way to watch the local news.

I was able to get a full strength signal mounting the antenna behind my TV. You can not see it at all when watching tv.

    Not a good choice

It will not do what it says it is capable of. And if you walk in front of it, it will blackout the station. I live in Leisure City and it's hard to pickup Channel 7 which is well within the range it claims to be capable of receiving.

I Hate Picking a Title for my Reviews

I could not get this to work at first, and finally called the manufacturer for some help. First the booster needed to be removed (that just sounded wrong!) and then the front of the antenna box should be facing toward the outside, which left the not so covered backside showing. I was told in the store it could set behind my TV, but that would only work IF your TV is in front of a window. Once I made all those changes and raised the antenna up as high as possible, it has been working great! I get at least 32 channels (including 5 or 6 spanish stations) and they are nice and clear. Some tend to pixelate a little for a second more than others, but I guess that could just be outside interference that I have no control over. This is my first antenna, so I have nothing to compare it with, but I am pleased.

    First Impression is Good

We now have two of these antennas. I have no past experience using this type of product, but I was pleased with how easy it was to set up. It’s working pretty well, and it’s saving us a lot of money. I did some internet searches about digital signals, and they are easier to lose than the older analog signals. Our picture can be interrupted by walking through the room. This inspired me to move the one in the living room as high as I could get it. Weather also can affect the signal. Still very satisfied.

    Great looks, average results

Fit into the shape of this round orb like design is really an amplified HDTV indoor antenna. The style is very nice and would fit into just about any decor without being unsightly. LED display ring on the front shows when you have a strong or weak connection to a signal, so it's helpful to visually see that in order to ensure you're getting a strong signal for maximum Over The Air channels. The amplified signal helps to boost signal reception. In the box you get the antenna, COAX cable and electrical plug. Amplifier is built in and this antenna states it has a 3G/4G/5G LTE Filter that potentially helps to keep your signal distortion free.

My results with this antenna were just so so. I live about 30 miles outside of a major metropolitan city and couldn't get a solid signal. Was able to pick up 1 FOX station, but the other major networks only would come in distorted or not at all. Tried various locations on my TV stand and nearby, but couldn't achieve a strong signal. Maybe if I could mount it higher or onto a window or wall it would get a stronger signal, but that's where the design was limiting me from being able to place it elsewhere. Unfortunately it wasn't the solution I was hoping for in order to obtain OTA signals as needed. Was hoping for a strong signal within 80 miles as the box states, but maybe I would achieve better results if I lived within 15 miles of a TV tower.

The design is nice and it looks like a smart speaker from various other brands, so it's a great design for most.

    Average Indoor Antenna

Unfortunately, like many indoor antenna’s , this one is not much better. The look is good, but it’s a bit awkward to put on a table or up high like on a mantle but it is doable.

Installation is straight forward, you screw in the coax cable from the antenna into your tv and use the power plug to provide power. Once powered on, there are 3 lights that can illuminate on the front based on the signal strength it is receiving. You then go into your tv settings and do a scan for channels.

The antenna boasts an 80 mile range which is quite large for an indoor antenna. I am only about 25 miles (air wise) from most all the major local providers antenna signals. I was still only able to get 1 out of 3 bars lighted on the unit. Despite that, I was still able to get 40 digital channels. Unfortunately, only NBC and Fox were available consistently, CBS and ABC would not stay and were pixilated. Part of my issue too is that I live in a lower area and not elevated enough to break through the dense tree lines in our area.

Overall, I would find this useful in those times where my internet is out and I don’t have access to streaming services and would need to rely on an antenna to get local channels. I cannot recommend it as a full replacement for getting a solid set of your locals unless your physical and location supported that.

    Nice little antenna

I decided to test this antenna to see if it would pull in more channels than the one I'm currently using. I'm in a rather mountainous area, so most of the indoor antennas I've tried have reliably picked up about 20 channels. Setup took about 5 minutes. The antenna is a round plastic base about 6" in diameter, with a cloth covering on the top; it looks more like a speaker than an antenna. It has a small footprint which is nice since it's on my office desk. There are three white LEDs in middle of the cloth covered area which show signal strength as the base is rotated. Once I had the antenna hooked to the TV and plugged it, it was just a matter of turning the base so the three signal strength indicators were solid white. The antenna worked great; it wound up pulling in 22 channels. It pulled in one additional channel compared to the other antenna, but it also allowed access to six channels that the other antenna had to be moved/turned to actually view, and sometimes even then they weren't watchable. All in all, I'm very pleased with this antenna. Setup is super easy, it doesn't take up much space, and it works.

Picks up the channels I was missing!

This is one good-looking antenna. The plastic white casing, together with the grey fabric makes it look like an indoor speaker. The signal indicator shows up nicely through the cloth without being overly bright. It simply looks classy in my opinion.

Hooking it up is rather easy -just plug the included power pack into an outlet and connect the coax RF connector to the TV’s input. Then, run the TV’s channel scanning. I am glad that the coax cable is almost 10ft, as I have a 75” TV. I do wish the power cord was a bit longer, though.

Now, I did have to mess around with distance, angling, and positioning, but I was able to get at least one strength indicator to stay solid. I already had a pretty good antenna before, so I was happy to see that the Core added 4 more channels when the scanning was finished. I especially had problems with the lower frequencies (horrible where I live), where I was not able to pick up the lowest channel (2), and had major breakup with the other lower channels (5-7). Even though I was never able to get all three indicators, I experienced minimal disruptions. One can always get an extension coaxial cable for best placement, but that goes for any other antenna I have tried.

In the end, I am satisfied with the Core Innovations antenna. It looks good, is easy to set up, works better than my last one, and does not break the bank.

    Game changing indoor antenna

I have tried so many antennas and I could never bring all of my local channels in. I tried various locations to gain a missing channel, just to lose another one. This changed everything. I can bring in all of my local channels, plus some that I didn’t even know were available. The reception and picture quality is very good.

I found that a local channel had changed its frequency, so remember to rescan for channels when you install this. I have so many channel choices now and will finally be able to cut the cable.

The device has a great lit up signal indicator, making it easy to determine the optimal location for the best signal strength. It takes the guesswork out of finding the right place to set it.

Finally, it looks nice in the room. No more extending antenna wands pointing in various directions. I have it set up on top of a speaker and it works great.

    Reliable TV Antenna

I’ve had this antenna hooked up to my bedroom TV for about a week now and it’s been reliable for picking up over the air channels on my TV. I don’t pay for cable so I rely on the local air channels for news and TV. This antenna is a great option for those who don’t want to pay for an expensive cable plan. The antenna is small and looks nice on any tv stand or furniture. It is small enough so it isn’t an eyesore and the built in light is a great way to know if you have a good signal. When all 3 lights are on you have an excellent signal. It also has its own power supply to boost antenna strength. Would I recommend this antenna? Yep! If all you want is your local channels and a few basic network channels to compliment your streaming plans. Channels come in clear and even support full HD on some networks.

Core Innovations indoor antenna gets the job done

The Core Innovations indoor tv antenna has performed as expected. The Fox affiliate in our has a poor signal and our prior antenna had stopped picking up the signal. Bought our new antenna and hooked it up to our tv. Installation was easy and after rescanning channels, the Fox affiliate came through clearly. Good thing is rather than having to hang on a window, the antenna sits comfortably on top of a bookcase near the window. All in all, a good buy.

    Reasonable antenna

I received this item at no cost through the best buy tech insider network to test and give my unbiased opinion. I elected to test this antenna not because I thought it would give me an advantage over other antenna, but because of the design. It is a ball a bit larger a softball that can sit In my window sill or on my dresser top without having to be hung up or lay flat awkwardly as my other flat antenna panels I have are. The signal on those are rated at 80 miles like this, but they were about half the cost of this, and that is why I have purchased those first, affordable and available. Additionally something like this I have not seen before, other than some soundbar like rectangle ones. This connects easy and sit nice and stable on my window sill. It has an indicator circle that is up to 3 white bars (forming a circle) telling me I have it at optimal placement. That being said at my primary residence this got none of the 3 PBS stations I can get on good nights, but neither did my old antenna. I live about 90 miles from other network towers in all directions, so the digital upgrade in 2008 made free air TV difficult for people in my area. At my secondary residence that is within about 50 miles of major network signals, I have gotten up to 49 channels with my old antenna on a clear winter day in late December last year.

So far this has only matched the signal of my old ones on the days I tested, which is no signal, no channels. That us why I do have cable in my main rooms, but in my bedrooms and guest rooms we do not In all of them. All in all, the extra cost i would say is justified if you like the design and ability to place this differently, but not necessarily as much as thus is different. I want to note that this does have a heck of a rattle in it, like a flat piece of metal flips around inside when it tilts, I'm not sure if that is normal and it effects performance. But i see other reviews that mention the same thing and they they returned it. I do have an email into the testing contacts so see if they can find out if effects performance, and they have contacted the company, but I have not heard back yet. From what I can see it does not compared to my old antenna, but not sure if it could do more. But again, no signals on either antenna these nights. The guidelines for my review were to try and post my review within 3 days of receiving the item, and I did test on all 3 nights, no gains, but no losses from my old units.I wish my testing time was longer so I could update you on the rattle and if that means this is broken. I give this a neutral 3 stars, would be 2.5 if I could, not good nor bad, just the same reception wise (possibly). Cost only partially justified because of design, it should be picked up at current sale price instead of msrp.
