Antennas Direct - ClearStream 4MAX Complete Amplified Indoor/Outdoor HDTV Antenna with Mast, Coaxial Cable, Amplifier, and 3-Way Splitter - Black
Description

Make your installation a breeze and split signals to three TVs with this ClearStream 4MAX Complete Amplified antenna. Receive signals 70+ miles away with long-range, multi-directional UHF and VHF reception. Boost signal strength with the included Jolt 15dB USB in-line antenna amplifier to provide boost TV signals for efficient turning. The result is a clean, clear picture and sound to your TV. The amplifier includes a USB cable to connect directly into the USB port on your TV and the amplifier will only draw power when the TV is turned on, eliminating power consumption. If you don’t have a USB port on your TV, use the included USB power adapter with any standard wall outlet. The 20-inch mast includes a pivoting base to install the antenna on horizontal and vertical surfaces, such as a roof, fascia, eave, deck rail, or the side of a house. Includes durable, all-weather adjustable mounting hardware and sealing pads. The ClearStream 4MAX Complete is whole-home ready. If your residence ever had satellite or cable TV service, the coaxial cable needed to distribute the antenna's signal throughout the home is already installed. The 30-foot high-performance coaxial cable is made using copper-coated steel with a high-capacity center conductor and a larger insulating dielectric that allows you to extend the mounting options for your antenna while providing you with the highest-quality picture available. With the 3-way splitter, split over-the-air signals to three TVs with 1-input and 3-outputs. Note: the range of this antenna will vary greatly depending on the height, power, and frequency coming from the TV tower, as well as the height of the antenna installation, the terrain and obstacles between your home and the broadcast towers.

5 Features
  • Compatible with all HDTVs: Receives HD TV channels with clear, crisp signals from networks like, ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, and many more without the need for a cable package.
  • Receives Hi-VHF and UHF signals (174 MHz-700 MHz): Dedicated UHF and Hi-VHF multi-directional elements deliver range and reception in less than ideal locations; no aiming necessary.
  • Quick setup and easy installation: The innovative design allows for quick antenna setup.
  • 70-mile long-range reception: Durable, lightweight, premium materials for maximum performance.
  • The ClearStream 4MAX Complete attic/outdoor antenna is whole-home ready and will provide signals to many TVs: If your residence ever had satellite or cable TV service, the coaxial cable needed to distribute the antenna's signal throughout the home is already installed.

    WORTH IT!!!

This antenna is simply amazing! I can’t believe I was trying to get live tv without it! I used to have a few local broadcast channels drop in and out which made watching sports aggravating. I live in the DFW area. Now I no longer have that problem! I get way more channels too compared to my flat antenna which is now going in the donation pile. Great device, I would definitely recommend. I have it placed looking out my front living room window but plan on installing it in my attic later.

    Frustrating, but good

So here is a real review. While this thing takes only minutes to piece together, finding the proper setting to get stations was insanely hard. I downloaded the app, and it tells you the direction to point them, however, there is height and pitch to consider, and that’s all a guessing game. It took over two hours of random and frustrating adjustments in order to get it to work. But when it finally did. It made all the difference in the world.

    More channels and great signal.

I was using one of the flat antennas on my main TV when I cut my cable subscription. Had questionable reception. I purchased this to help my parents while the waited for internet and cable to be connected. Mounted inside their house but broadcasters were too far away. I brought it home recently and hooked it up in my attic. Now I am getting 34 local channels and much less pixelating of the digital signal. Very happy!

Great Antenna, but buy it without the pre-amp.

I actually returned this antenna because I mistakenly bought the wrong one online. I bought the same antenna without the pre-amp this package comes with. I needed a better higher gain and quality antenna mounted pre-amp for the area I am in.

    Extremely happy couch potato

I’m in Brooklyn, on a lower floor surrounded by buildings and all sorts of interference. This antenna pulls in 79 stations (including the 3 major networks and some music stations). Every once in a while, some channels will change their frequencies. Just rescan from the beginning to get them back.

Bought this one to install outside and connected 3 tv’s to it. Have been pleased with this brand of antenna so far. All 3 tv’s get lots of channels. A little bit of work to get it installed and connected, but well worth it!

    Thin but sturdy

This was thin and stylish, and the cord was long enough to put anywhere. Sadly, it didn't pick up the signal I wanted it to, despite my living in the city. Then again, I live in a newly renovated apartment with well insulated walls, so I am not going to put the blame completely on this antenna.

    Great Value

I picked up 47 digital channels with this antenna held up as high as I could reach. Only picked up 22 about 3 ft off the floor at level of TV’s feet.

Channels are crystal clear in 78414.

Excellent purchase at a rock bottom price

So I was with Directv and after overpaying once the years discount was over I cut the cord. This was way better than the leaf style antennas for double the price.

Easy install. I just connected it to the opposite side of the directv dish bar and downloaded the RCA Signal finder app. Swapped a Coax connection to the dish and connected my Two TVs with a splitter / amplifier and the signal is amazing. All the channels in Los Angeles are picked up.

    Affordable OTA antenna

Hey, this antenna just works! Pulls in everything I expect after consulting the TVFOOL website for available broadcast stations. Before you spend big $ on a fancy antenna, try a homemade version to get an idea of what's possible in your area. I stripped back the insulation on a spare piece of coaxial cable and attached the wires to a metal fruit basket. The center core is one wire, and then you have to twist the interior sheathing of the coaxial to create the second wire. Bread basket antenna worked good enough for me to try a store-bought antenna. This Pro Brand DIRECTV 2-Bay UHF Antenna works just fine, and it's affordable.

    Best $15 antenna so far

Got by with Insignia rabbit ears hung outdoors under the carport on 30 feet of coax the last 3 years. Reviews and price point prompted this purchase. After some home engineering, the antenna is mounted at 14 feet and receives 30 channels from the initial scan. Nine even speak English. Lucky enough to live within 10 miles of broadcast towers so no amplification was needed. Provides a great picture via 39 feet of coaxial cable on a 40" three year old Hinsense. Have not used a splitter or ran a grounding wire yet but will update if that diminishes reception or picture quality.

    47 channels

We get 47 chanels with it just sitting on the bookcase beside the tv. We're not even using the big metal bracket thing. My only complaint is that it doesn't come with the cable to hook into the tv. We just so happened to have one laying around so it worked out. Picture is clear. I can't believe this was only $15.

    Terrific Antenna

I've tried 2 other antennas, 1 flat square and 1 amplified flat square. I did get results with the amplified one, but would have fade out and couldn't always count on being able to get the channels I wanted. I set up this antenna hanging from my office window and got the full spectrum of available (I believe 27 to 29). I did not add an amplifier either. This antenna picked up the channels from the transmitter which was approx. 60 miles away. Probably out shines those which cost a lot more.

Out of all the antenna's I have tried. This is about the best. I use it as a inside antennae. Looks strange in the bedroom. But heck it works. Every once in awhile it pixels the screen. But I cannot put up an outside one. So this is the best so far.

    FM Amplified Antenna

I would have given this a 5 except that the amplifier/tuner's coax cable plug is not setup for screwing the plug in, so had to take the wire that came with antenna and just plug it into the coax plug. If there was an adapter to go from screw-on coax cap to non-screw-on cap, I'd love it. But the antenna works beautifully... the tuner reception is exceptional.

    Money in my pocket

I paid about $30 for this antenna. I plugged it in and followed the easy instructions. I received all the channels that I was looking for to watch football on the networks plus so much more! The picture is crystal clear and sometimes I have to move the antenna to one side or another depending on how clear or not clear it’s coming through. But overall I bought a 50 mile range. I am super happy with this purchase. And counting all the money that I am saving not having cable.

This indoor antenna is better than my working rabbit ears. It is rated for a 50 mile radius and that is what is making the difference. Won't stick to any surface

It works just the same as a cheap antenna. The glued pads don't last a day if you want to stick it to the wall. you will find it on the floor. It comes with a stand but it forces you to put it low. Bunch of channels won't work, you have to put it high so you can get the most channels.

Great for the price but not as great reception

Works pretty good, it was easy to set up on my Sony Bravia OLED And now gives me access to a lot of local channels. Other antennas will give you more range, this one is at best 25 miles and also because the antenna is so compact I had to figure out how to get the best reception by hanging it a good bit above my tv on the wall. It didn’t work hung right behind it to hide it completely

Good DTV antenna for nearby broadcast towers

This $35 amplified antenna MIGHT be what cord-cutters need to bring in FREE OTR (Over the Air) TV signals, or it might not.

Let me explain. How far away and what are the natural barriers between the user and the broadcast towers? Under the right conditions, this 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” digital antenna will do a fine job. The higher it can be located indoors and the fewer barriers between the antenna and direct line-of-sight, the better.

At its best, users will enjoy beautiful HDTV today with an antenna. That picture usually looks far better than broadcast TV channels over cable or satellite. OTA signals and images are pure and uncompressed. Cable and satellite providers do not provide these raw signals.

In the newest iteration of TV technology that has been approved by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission), there are provisions for 4K, HDR and better sound, but don’t expect to see it anytime soon in all new TVs. The ATSC 3.0 technology is in a few high-end TVs now, with more set to roll out with newly-capable tuners later this year and into 2022.

To learn if this antenna might work for you, there is a free and handy RCA app for iOS and Android phones that points the way from YOUR location to the broadcast towers serving your address. Download and launch the FREE “RCA Signal Finder” app from the app store. It points the way to success, showing the distance from and direction pointing to the towers.

Now, let’s take a look at what amplification is all about. Ideally, the use of amplification is to be avoided. Why? Because amplifying a weak signal also introduces signal “noise” or artifacts that can degrade the picture. At best, it is a double-edged sword. At worst, amplification makes the image worse.

When digital TV began and analog TV went away, everything changed. If you are old enough to remember using “rabbit ears”, those collapsible rods ideally in a “V” shape, you will also remember that rotating the V to reorient the antenna towards better picture was effective. Poor signal, poor aim resulted in pictures with what was referred to as snow. The picture quality could range from snowy to acceptable to wonderful. Often, slight reorientation of the rabbit ears was all that was needed.

Now, all of that has changed in the era of digital TV. Like all things digital, the signal consists of one and zeros as interpreted by the TV tuner. Snow is gone. A lesser amount of signal artifacts and a finer aim will make all the difference between picture and no picture.

The rabbit ears on this antenna are a throwback to a design when TV transmission was analog. Analog is mostly a thing of the past and gone from all major TV markets. The rabbit ears on this antenna are ineffectual and of no use except for the few markets with what is called LPTV (Low Powered TV) broadcast. These are generally NOT the broadcast stations most users want, but can still be found in some rural areas and still in some urban areas. As soon as these remaining stations have upgraded their equipment, the new channels will be available only as conventional DTV (Digital TV) stations and that will be that.

A final note about OTA stations vs. cable TV stations. Antennas can only bring in network and other locally-available stations. They are not capable of bringing in stations available only via cable and satellite. Common examples include, CNN, MSNBC, HBO, Showtime, A&E, History Channel and more than can be conveniently listed here. Search on “cable vs broadcast stations” for more information. OTA broadcast stations are FREE with an antenna, if it works where you are. The rest are not available without a digital means to acquire them, including cable and satellite providers and the growing list of streaming providers.

Manual aim of this kind of antenna’s flat plane is the only method of signal gathering, along with amplification.

The size of a flat antenna as well as its technology will determine its ability to bring in OTA TV signal and deliver a usable picture to your eyes. This is a small device. Therefore its ability to collect signals from greater distances is limited.

There are larger amplified and unpowered indoor/outdoor digital antennas on the market. Some feature a metal grid that helps gather and direct the signal to the flat area of the antenna. In addition, some antennas can be attached to a roof-mounted mast along with a motorized rotator operated by a mobile app or self-contained remote control. Rotation is a handy method of dialing in the precise aim needed to capture signals regardless of their direction. In some cases, moving a degree or two in one direction or the other can bring in stations that the more broadly aimed antenna will not easily acquire.

With the above understanding of the technology, it was time to give it a try.

As with any antenna connected to a TV that has its own digital tuner, there is a setting whereby the digital channels range is scanned and any that are received are held in memory for later recall. Most TVs allow customization of the channel names and most receivers also show the station flag, such as ABC, NBC, Independent, PBS in addition to such indications as 2.1, 2.2, and more. The first number generally followed by a decimal and “1” usually in an indicator of the station’s main programming. The sub-numbers, .2, .3, etc. indicate alternate programming from that main station, often including old-time TV shows, shopping, and other alternate programming.

First, the app. I learned that broadcast towers are about 50 miles away. Unfortunately, there are mountainous areas in the path. The diminutive size of this RCA antenna suggests its best use is in areas where the broadcasts come from up to about 35 miles, so I knew it was going to be a stretch for this antenna.

Using the RCA app as guidance, I connected the supplied coaxial cable, one end to the antenna and the other to the coaxial, or cable antenna connector on the TV. I plugged in the power adapter to the wall and the other end of the wire to the power port on the back of the antenna. In TV settings, I selected the TV’s antenna input, aimed this device in the direction of the signal source, which is through a window, not a wall, and clicked to scan the signal range to see what could be found. I first tried it with amplification in the bypass position. In this mode, the tell-tale blue light is off. Nothing was found. Once again with the amplification ON. Still nothing.

In my evaluation, it was revealed that THIS product was not going to work. What was revealed what that a more powerful, larger antenna would be required if there is any hope of bringing in OTA channels in my location. It might even be necessary to deploy a roof-mounted digital antenna, or even one with a motorized rotator for even more precise aim and signal gathering.

I know this and other similar antennas can work effectively. I have proven this time and again from other locations and with a few different antennas. At its $40 price point, this one is going to perform at its best for stations up to a maximum of about 35 miles away. Do a search on Best Buy for “HDTV ANTENNA” to see additional options.

While this was not a good solution in my location, it might work for you. Do not be afraid to use available tools, whether the above-mentioned app or other tools provided by the US Government by searching “DTV Reception Maps” for the link to the fcc.gov site where the info is available.

Is this RCA Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna worth a try? Do your homework and decide. Fortunately, Best Buy is consumer-oriented and will accept returns if it doesn’t work, so be mindful of maintaining packaging integrity and all the parts and pieces in the event of a return.

Great, effective and affordable TV antenna!

We have a few TV’s that are streaming only so exploring a digital TV antenna was on our list to try out. The RCA Amplified HDTV Antenna accomplishes exactly what we were hoping for, we live in a heavily wooded area with some elevation and using the RCA app we were able to determine the sight lines for certain programming which was extremely helpful. The app was easy to use and allowed me to point the antenna in the right direction to receive a handful of channels. Our programming is limited, but we knew that ahead of time.

Out of the box it was an easy setup and connect, less than 5 minutes. I did not realize this antenna included dipoles for better reception, that being said, you do need some room to angle the dipoles for better signal. The antenna stands on its own with no option for wall mounting if that is something you are looking for. For me this was not necessary so having the antenna sitting behind the TV on the stand works just fine.

Once I had this setup it was just a simple channel search on our Toshiba Fire TV and we were up and running. The picture quality for the stations were watch only broadcasts in HD 1080p which was again expected, these are local news stations etc. The picture quality is easily comparable to any cable provider and extremely clear with excellent sound output. The Toshiba Fire TV also allows me to pause what I am watching over the antenna which is a nice added feature I was unaware of. Overall, the RCA Amplified HDTV Antenna does exactly what I was hoping for at a reasonable price – I am all about keeping money in my pocket when possible and avoiding paying fees to the big bad cable company! Highly satisfied with this product and definitely recommended to anyone looking to get free local programming that is actually FREE!

    More Channels!!!!

We cut the cable a few years ago and have never looked back. We initially saved a ton of money cutting the cable but now all the streaming is nickel and diming us but I digress. The only complaint about cutting the chord was local news! I tried to hook up the old satellite tv mount with an OTA (over the air) passive antenna but the mount is low on the roof and as such doesn’t get all the channels in our area. The OTA antenna on the roof also degrades the signal as it is piped throughout the existing cable wires in our house which sucks. We had the existing cable with the OTA signal hooked into a DVR and could at least get a couple of channels of local news. I never considered an amplified indoor antenna before because I thought for sure the OTA roof one would be better. I was flat wrong! All that time wasted getting a big OTA antenna and climbing on my roof and coming up with clamps to attach it to my old satellite base… When all I needed was this compact and powerful RCA indoor antenna!!! The quality of the picture was also notably better!

So the RCA antenna has a “smartboost” technology that takes a weaker signal and boosts it. Not sure of the science but am 100 percent sure of the results. The first scan for channels added 5 channels to my old capacity and now I get 18 channels total. Then I turned off the “smartboost” off just to see how many I could get. It was dramatic. The strength and quality of the signal of ALL my channels increased (see pics). Keep in mind that moving the dipoles does effect which channels you might get so you have to play around to optimize the channels you get. They also have an app that will help you place the Antenna to get the best reception based on your location. I also really like the low profile of the design and that they include a coaxial cable out of the box. Another thing to consider is you will need to plug in the RCA for the “smartboost” which means you need an outlet near your tv that is not taken up with another device!

Highly recommend for chord cutters and streamers alike that want the best quality picture and to have local channels for news! Great product!

Easy to setup and strong signals

Very well built antenna to get OTA (over the air) free channels. Construction is sturdy and stays on its wide feet. It has two telescopic metal antennas, like the old days, I guess it helps with reception.

Setup was very easy, with the help of their RCA signal finder app. Just download it from the app store, input your address and using your phone's compass/gps it will help you find the location of your local transmitting stations, that way you can point the antenna to that direction and get the best possible signal. I did and my tv found almost 70 stations, some I didn't even know existed.

It comes with an ac adapter, that powers the antenna's amplifier and a blue led that indicates power (it does have an bypass switch on the back, in case you don't want to use the amplifier, thus not having to unplug it, just flip the switch).

In all, very sturdy and well built antenna, highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap way to get free HD channels!

I hoped 3rd time would be a charm

I cut cable back in December. This antenna is the third one I have tried to get local channels and I REALLY wanted it to work. Not only did I not get the Fox and CBS stations near me that I have been unable to get with ANY antenna, but I also couldn't get most of the channels I get with my Clearstream.

When I took it out of the box, the first thing I noticed is that it feels very cheap- It feels like it's hollow plastic. You don't see it in the pictures but it relies on old-fashioned rabbit ears that you must extend to receive stations.

I used their app to locate local antennas in my area (although I already knew through a general app that does the same thing). I used their app because I wanted to be true to the process.

They provide a short coaxial cable but I used the one I already had from another antenna since it gave me more options of locations to try.

This does not wall mount so you must have a surface to place it on. That limited my options right off the bat. The unit must also be plugged in which further limited my locations. Other antennae I have tried require a power source but that can be located near the TV with the unit itself not tethered to a plug.

I tried the two surfaces I have near plugs- One up high near the TV and the other on a table that is closer to the window (two suggestions they have to improve reception).

I was only able to get a max of 9 channels.

I was very disappointed because I really wanted this to get the channels I can currently get and hopefully add the elusive channels that I should be able to receive based on their proximity.

I reconnected my wall mount ClearStream and have included a picture showing the number of channels I am able to get with that antenna. It is about double the price of the RCA but worth it in my book.

might work if signals are present

Regarding the RCA ANT1268E amplified TV antenna. This is packaged in the colorful claim festooned box stating USA in large letters next to smaller fine print stating that it is “Designed and Engineered in the USA”.

The device package purports to allow viewing network TV from many popular networks now appearing on most cable and satellite TV services. What this antenna will allow anyone with good digital signals is to receive what are called “local” TV channels that transmit over the air and which need a “boost up” to improve the picture and sound quality on home televisions.

I ordered this to determine if our location has signals that could be improved by using an amplified antenna. We have previously tried a non-amplified antenna and were not successful in seeing any channels in our area; this was probably due to our being at the bottom of a hill and adjacent to a small creek indicating that we were at the lowest point in our hilly area.

Being amplified, this antenna is supplied with a tiny power adapter that plugs into the base of the unit to power the amplifier circuit; if it is switched on with the back panel switch the amplifier activates a blue status light on the front. It also comes with a length of coax cable that connects both to the amplified RCA antenna and to the coax connector on a TV.

Sadly for us, we found out that the antenna didn't want to pick up any channels no matter where or how it was placed or in which direction it was pointed. This didn't change even when it was placed near the window. We basically have no signal where we are due to the hills.

There is NO Alexa, Hey Google, or Siri Apple home smart home control on this device.

It is actually made in China.

Better than no antenna but not essential

I replaced a non-amplified antenna with this RCA Amplified HDTV Antenna.

For starters, there is a huge difference between no antenna and any HDTV antenna. However, I found no significant difference in my reception. It may be due to the fact that I live within 30 miles of the major broadcast antennas, or maybe because I do not have a window in which to place the antenna (as recommended by RCA).

The original non-amplified antenna found almost the same number of televisions stations during the scanning process. The quality of the image was similar with both amplified and non-amplified. If anything, the amplified antenna amplified some of the artefacts in the image.

The app correctly found the broadcast antennas but I was limited in my ability to direct the amplified antenna in the direction of those antennas because of my layout. I also wanted the antenna to be out of the way.

I think an amplified antenna is a good idea of you live far away from the large antennas which broadcast the signals. Otherwise, I do not think they are worth the extra money over a non-amplified antenna.

    Not bad

I purchased this antenna to replace an indoor one for a 19" TV used in our kitchen. It may be tuner on the TV on the TV but still not receiving all the channels in our local area. Once testing in the house, I spray painted it white to keep it from fading and mounted it to an exterior wall just outside of the area where the TV is located, All in all, no complaints.
