    Awesome ergonomic wide screen!

I love this computer screen because it's so wide. I can do multiple things side by side and keep most of my apps open. Unlike the tiny tv screen I was using before. I'm very grateful to finally have a computer screen because it makes such a difference on my eyes. The brightness isn't as intense. This monitor offers plenty of presets for visual customization. Each setting is tailored to what we are using the computer for. It's very thoughtful of them to put custom visual for almost every type of game. (fps, moba, etc). As well as something for office work as well.

This shows it's meant for games and paperwork. More of a screen lets me see more than the average player can. Having this small advantage is nice. The fact this monitor can extend very high so I have to look up, helps keep my posture in check. I hurt my back a few months ago because I overextended myself. This helps keeps me where I should be. Back to chair, neck in line with shoulders.

When this monitor arrived, would you believe the box was wet and badly damaged? (nightmare!) The delivery man hid it by facing it the bad part away from me when he left it. (lol) Despite that, the monitor was okay and ran fine. (luckily!)

As you can see I'm happy with how this purchase turned out. I hope it lasts a long time, it's doing good so far. No one wants to buy more problems lol. Thank you BestBuy & ViewSonic for this good experience!

Good monitor a bit on the pricey side

    Great monitor quality wise.

Although I wish I bought a 4k monitor for the price or two wide monitors, but that's just because I need a lot of real estate for my job function.

I have no complaints about the quality.

The monitor was detected by my Windows 10 laptop with no issues.

Has decent speaker and mic built in which I never use, comes in handy in a bind but not very good quality.

    Exceptional clarity, resolution, and light

Ideal for text, spreadsheet, and other work projects, but the video is solid as well. Takes up a lot of real estate on the desk because the base is quite large, but a good trade-off.

  • Viotek - GNV30CBXA Advanced 30-Inch Curved 200Hz Gaming Monitor (HDMI, DisplayPort) - Black
    Description

The ultrawide 1080p (2560x1080p) resolution and cinematic 21:9 aspect ratio lets you see more of the game and take advantage of the much larger FOV (compared to standard 16:9 FHD monitors). The GNV30CBXA delivers faithful, true-life color reproduction, thanks to the upgraded VA panel with its 112% sRGB gamut, 300-nit brightness and 3000:1 contrast ratio. Turn on DCR and watch as colors pop with vibrancy—perfect for playing darker, shadow-heavy games. Though the GNV30CBXA’s colors are beautiful out the box, images can be adjusted on the fly using display presets (standard, photo, movie, game, FPS, RTS). Or fine-tune the image RGBs to find your perfect color balance. Take advantage of the GNV30CBXA game-winning features and take the lead. AdaptiveSync with low frame-rate compensation (LFC) smooths out fast-paced games, significantly reducing image glitches, tears, ghosting and other distracting visual artifacts. (AdaptiveSync is compatible with FreeSync and G-Sync. Hardware restrictions may still apply.) Get the drop on the bad guys before they get the drop on you by turning on FPS/RTS optimization in the OSD. This brings out the extra detail in darker games, letting you see snipers hiding in the shadow. And with GAMEPLUS crosshairs, you’re all but guaranteed a bullseye with every shot. And with the adjustable blue light filter, you can minimize eye fatigue and eyestrain during those marathon sessions. The blue light filter targets just the harmful “blue” light frequencies while maintaining the color quality and image detail.

    5 Features
  • Lightning-Fast 200Hz Monitor: Seamless, glitch-free gaming with full support for the latest game consoles. AdaptiveSync with LFC, compatible with GSYNC and FreeSync. Activate overdrive for 45% increase in responsiveness.
  • Phenomenal Images: 2560x1080p resolution delivers 25% more screen space than a standard FHD monitor. Enhanced 112% sRGB gamut and 3000:1 contrast produces amazing color with deep blacks and brilliant whites.
  • Important Resolution Info: Max. resolution/refresh for HDMI 2.0: 2560x1080p @ 165Hz. HDMI 1.4: [email protected] 75Hz. DisplayPort max. is 2560x1080p @ 200Hz. For best results, use the included DP cable. (Xbox is limited to 1080p @ 120Hz.)
  • Pro-Gaming Features: Enjoy all the tools to play and win, including AdaptiveSync for liquid-smooth gameplay; GAMEPLUS crosshairs for improved accuracy; and RTS/FPS optimization for enhanced detail in darker, shadow-heavy games.
  • Fully Immersive: Ergonomic 1800R curvature pulls you into the action while the ultrawide 21:9 puts more content on your screen. Height- and swivel-adjustable stand with built-in cable management. LED rear light and user-adjustable blue-light filter.

    Overall, Good

Overall, I would say this is an excellent monitor. The only issue I have is that in order for it to work with the latest Mac products, you have to have the Mac's charger plugged in at all times, or else it won't work.

I have been working from home like a lot of people. The wide screen with a 30' view is awesome. I immediately had better video chatting and productivity than ever before. I also use the wide screen to view streaming and it is great. Highly recommend this item.

Good Ultrawide with 90W USB-C, But With Caveats

    < INTRO >

The Samsung A650 Ultrawide monitor aims to provide users with a wide array of features that could appeal to both productivity focused tasks as well as gaming. It sports a 34” 21:9 aspect ratio VA display with high contrast ratio, “HDR10” support, 100Hz refresh rate with FreeSync, and a USB-C connection that supports DisplayPort, USB Data transfer, Ethernet & 90W Power Delivery.

It aims to combine two separate purchases—a Monitor & USB-C dock into one product. But does the A650 deliver on this promised experience?

    < UNBOXING & INITIAL SETUP >

The unboxing experience of the A650 was pleasantly simple. Inside the box, you’ll be presented with the components for the 2-piece stand as well as the display, itself. I grabbed a Phillips-head screwdriver and assembled the base to the pole-like stand, and then without any additional tools, I attached the display to the stand using the integrated latching mechanism. It was very easy to assemble, which is always great to see, as I’ve dealt with many monitors that require too many screws or are fidgety to assemble.

    < PHYSICAL ADJUSTMENTS >

Once it was assembled, I placed it on my desk and used the stand’s built-in height adjustment to bring the monitor to eye-level. Samsung gives users 120mm (4.7”) of height adjustment which might seem small, but can really make a big difference. On my recording studio desk, I sometimes stand up to play guitar while viewing the monitor, so it’s nice to have that extra height so I can have a more appropriate viewing angle.

You also have a -2 degree (aiming down) to 25 degree (aiming up) tilt which is plenty for users to dial in good posture for viewing the display. Additionally, the display can be rotated left or right 30 degrees each way—this might be useful for showing content to someone standing next to you, so you don’t have to rotate the entire stand.

The stand doesn’t have a swivel which might be desirable for some workflows like coding, but since this display has such a strong curvature, it wouldn’t be such a great experience.

    < BUILD >

In terms of the build quality, I have no complaints. The base might be thin, but it is a solid hunk of metal and feels very sturdy. I don’t have issues with screen wobble on my unit, and it doesn’t have any issue maintaining all of aforementioned physical adjustments. The A650 appears well-built, and I like the classy aesthetic. It’s not too business oriented, and it’s also not gamer-oriented. While it’s largely a plastic build, everything feels solid without also being super heavy.

    < ON-SCREEN CONTROLS / OPTIONS >

The on-screen controls are usable, but certainly not my favorite. Under the bottom center of the display is effectively a rubber D-pad with a center “action” button (which can also be used to power-on the display). While it’s easy to feel the buttons (as they have small dot bumps that you can feel), they’re rather mushy and require extra force to press in. I’d rather they have provided plastic tactile buttons.

That being said, the user interface for the on-screen controls is fairly intuitive, although if you’re used to dedicated back buttons, you’ll need to instead press the action button to escape modals and the left arrow button to exit sub-menus. As a UI/UX developer, I found this to be not my favorite user experience, but this is honestly just a nit-pick and isn’t something worth dwelling over.

However, one thing that really confused me was the number of settings that directly affect brightness. The on-screen descriptions of these settings don’t explain when the options are available; instead, forcing you to consult the manual for guidance. Many of the settings won’t allow you to engage them if other settings are toggled. Let’s walk through some of the extra settings that affect brightness.

    • Eco Sensor Mode: Optimizes brightness in real time, based on your lighting environment.

    • Eco Saving Plus: The Eco Saving Plus function reduces power consumption by controlling the electric current used by the monitor panel.

    • Dynamic Brightness: Automatically adjust the Brightness to provide the best possible screen contrast under the current conditions.

    • Adaptive Picture: Optimizes brightness and provides the best picture quality in real time, based on the lighting condition and the content you're viewing.

    • Min Backlight: Minimizes screen backlight when running Adaptive Picture.

If you’re thinking that’s a lot, well that’s because it is. And you’ll need to consult the manual to see which ones you should (and can) engage based on your needs—whether professional or personal.

There are a lot of helpful settings for things such as auto-switching to a newly plugged in device when there’s no signal, as well as some extra power savings features based on your habits and needs.

    < USB-C CONNECTIVITY >

The A650 supports DisplayPort over USB-C along with 90W Power Delivery. In the monitor’s system settings, setting the USB-C Preference to High Resolution will enable [email protected], but will limit the 3 USB ports to USB 2.0 speeds and also limit the speed of the ethernet port. Whereas setting it to High-Speed Data will limit the display to [email protected], but the 3 USB ports can operate as USB 3.0.

Since this isn’t a Thunderbolt or USB4-enabled monitor, you’re unfortunately forced to pick between these options. On one hand, if you only need to use the USB ports for mouse and keyboard, using the High Resolution mode will be great. But if you planned to use the ethernet jack and/or external SSDs, you’ll have to compromise on the frame rate by selecting High-Speed Data mode instead. Hopefully with USB4 becoming more prominent, we’ll see more ultrawide monitors with high refresh rates as well as high speed USB ports at lower costs. But in the meantime, this is really only available in Thunderbolt 3-enabled ultrawide monitors.

My USB-C usage was limited to my 16” Intel-based MacBook Pro. My intention was to have a one-cable solution that would allow me to forego a Thunderbolt 3 dock. And while it did work just fine during actual usage, it also had some worrisome issues with Power Delivery during sleep mode. I found that during sleep mode, the monitor would seemingly cause the power chime noise to go off every couple minutes until it eventually woke up my MacBook and subsequently woke up the monitor. The MacBook itself would become hot while this was happening. The “fix” to this is to power the MacBook via the wall adapter. This will allow it to sleep normally and without overheating. This means it’s unfortunately not a one-cable solution for MacBook users unless you plan to unplug the MacBook from the monitor after each session. There are other monitors that exhibit this same issue with MacBooks, so it may very well be something more related to the MacBook ecosystem.

But if you don’t have any intention of using this monitor with USB-C, then you may want to consider other options because you could easily spend a couple hundred dollars less and get a great display without USB-C but with faster response times and also higher refresh rates.

    < DISPLAY >

My assessment of the display will be largely subjective since I do not have the tools to perform measurements. Firstly, I think this is a great display for productivity purposes. I didn’t think I’d like the 1000R curvature over the milder 1500R curvatures I’m used to, but I forgot about it very quickly after using it for a while. Viewing angles are definitely focused on the sweet spot and will definitely shift more due to the curvature exacerbating the “actual” angle from which you’re viewing the display.

It gets plenty bright when configured correctly and has excellent contrast so that blacks are rich while lighter colors still pop through. The colors present themselves vividly compared to some other displays that end up more washed out. However, HDR is best experienced on displays that can achieve much higher peak brightness. When I tried using HDR in macOS with the A650, darker scenes in HDR content became noticeably noisy at times. Having more local dimming zones is necessary for HDR content, and this A650 just doesn’t really hold up well compared to a proper HDR display certified by VESA

The 100Hz refresh rate lends to a fluid visual experience and is decent for gaming, but there are certainly better monitors for gaming, especially for the price. That being said, there is a Game Mode which Samsung recommends enabling if you intend to use the A650 for gaming. Additionally, there is a setting for enabling faster response times, which is good to see for a monitor that doesn’t market itself heavily towards gamers. If your primary purpose is for gaming, I’d still advise looking at other options.

    < CONCLUSION >

Overall, the Samsung A650 ultrawide monitor is a good contender for those looking for a display that is decent for both gaming and productivity over USB-C. If you’re the kind of person who has two computers—a desktop for gaming and a USB-C enabled thin and light laptop for work, the A650 might be a good option to simplify your connectivity. While I don’t think it’s the best option for single-cable use for MacBook owners due to the sleep-related issues I encountered, your mileage may vary for other USB-C enabled notebooks.

It’s well-designed and otherwise a joy to use. The display is good, but not the best I’ve used. And while it claims to support HDR10, it’s not bright enough and also not VESA-certified.

There are not many ultrawide monitors that support [email protected] along with 90W Power Delivery over USB-C. In that regard, Samsung is delivering something that is pretty rare to find—especially at this price point. You’ll have to spend a lot more for Thunderbolt 3-enabled displays. So while the A650 isn’t perfect for everyone’s use-cases, it provides a compelling feature set for the price when compared to the competition.

    Impressive in size and beautiful

Samsung knocks it out of the park with this curved WQHD FreeSync Monitor with HDR. I have been using it mainly for working from home purposes and I love it. This has spoiled me with it's large size for multiple window placement, power management, and relief from eye strain.

The curvature of the monitor is unique and took a moment to get used to, but then I realized how much easier it was to naturally turn my head left and right and still be comfortably looking at the screen. The large 34" size has been amazing to have Outlook, Zoom, Excel, Chrome, and etc. all open at once in multiple windows. I much more prefer this singular monitor over a 2 monitor home office setup.

The power management ability of this monitor is very nice and it almost acts much like a docking station. USB-C ability allows me to have a cable running from the monitor to my laptop and that allows me to power my laptop and use that as my display as well. Simplified wires to maximize the work space. I can also operate it with HDMI from my laptop for simple visual and audio only. TUV certified Intelligent Eye Care is an impressive feature to have on this as I work long hours and want to care for my eyes without damaging them. This monitor is gentle on they eyes, and doesn't get overly bright. This might be an issue for someone in a bright room setting, but works well for me in my home office during day and night. This has a fast refresh rate of 100hz and I haven't noticed any lag or blurring. I like to edit my YouTube videos on here and consume a lot of streaming content as well, and am pleased with the video quality. So far the HDR10 content I have watched on Disney+ and also on Amazon Prime has looked really nice. My eyes appreciate the color accuracy and the crisp details.

It's a beautiful monitor to see in action and just looks plain nice when sitting on my desk space. I've really liked the adjustable neck of the stand as well to shift it up or down and left to right easily. Samsung really hit the nail on the head with this one.

    Excellent for Work and Games!

The Samsung S6 34 (A650) monitor is one of Samsung's newest lineup of monitors. Designed for everyday work at home, or office use with the user in mind. The new lineup offers special features to reduce eye strain, and make the viewing experience as comfortable and beneficial as possible. The monitor is nice and streamlined, with a tiny bezel, nice curve, and lightweight feel. The curve of the monitor is actually based off of the same curvature of a person's eye. Typically flat wide screens can fatigue the user's eye by forcing them to constantly move around to see the full screen, but the S6's curve is designed to meet your eye in those fatigue spots, and lessen the movements needed for a similar flat screen. The stand is easy to connect, with only 1 screw at the bottom, the base is slim but heavy enough to stay in place. The monitor can be turned in virtually every direction and height to best fit your requirements, it can even be tilted up or down at decent angles. The viewing angle of the monitor is 178 degrees, but I have noticed that some of the color depth is lost moving out of 100 degrees from center. Everything is still very detailed, and easy to see, just not as in depth as 0 degrees.

The monitor is TUV certified, with intelligent eye care. The brightness and color temperature is automatically adjusted based on your environment . The S6 also protects eyes against excessive blue light with the eye saver mode and a flicker free setting. All of these features can be found in the monitor's settings, and can be switched on or off, based on your preferences. Personally, I have used these settings and found them to be very beneficial. There has been a lot of new information about blue light and eye health, so do your eyes a favor and try it out. I have definitely noticed less eye fatigue, dry-eye, and headaches. So, thank you Samsung.

Samsung really put a lot of thought into this monitor. It comes with a USB 3.0 hub, a headset/speaker 3.5mm port, USB-C port, an HDMI 2.0 port, and a 1.2 version Display port. It even has an ethernet port, the ethernet port serves no direct feature to the monitor, it has no built in web browser, and you can not update the software from here either. So you are probably wondering what it is for, and that is for sharing the ethernet connection to supported devices via the USB-C cable. It is a plug and play feature for any available device, there is nothing more that needs to be done aside from plugging everything in. The available USB ports can also provide connections to additional devices to be used with the connected USB-C device.

I was able to directly connect my Samsung Note 20+ to the monitor via the USB-C cable. It automatically activated the Samsung DEX feature on my phone, and displayed my desktop on the monitor. There is no need to use a DEX hub with this monitor. A pop-up on your phone should allow you to use your phone as a touchpad to navigate the DEX desktop. If the pop-up does not appear, you can activate it by pressing an icon on the bottom left of your phone screen. The cool thing is that you can connect a keyboard and mouse directly to the USB ports on the back of the monitor and use those instead. I tried it, and everything worked great.

The USB-C cable also works as a charging cable to limit some of your desktop cables, it provides up to 90watts of power and can charge almost any device that has a USB-C connection.

The monitor can be set to auto detect and switch to available inputs.

It will also tell you what the max resolution possible is for the connected device, if it is not already chosen. Even though the monitor has no internal speakers, the audio will carry from whatever input you are using to the 3.5mm headphone jack on the back of the monitor. You can even adjust the volume to the speakers directly on the monitor, with the navigation buttons on the underside of the monitor. The speaker volume actually works great for consoles that don't have any volume controls of their own, ie; some video game systems.

The S6 34 boasts 100hz refresh rate and a 5ms response time, which should give you a pretty clean screen during most scenes with a lot of action.

The higher the refresh rate the smoother the action is. Low refresh rates can cause stutter, blurr or pixilation, making a very messy looking screen, plus it makes it harder to follow the action or very fast moving objects, if everything is blurred together. To further add to the smoothness of this monitor it offers FreeSync. AMD FreeSync promises a tear free, low latency experience. FreeSync works with Radeon, and some Nvidia graphics cards, so check for any available downloads if it's not already installed on your machine.

The monitor provides an excellent work experience. The ultra wide display makes it possible to easily have 3 or 4 windows open at a time. Everything just looks so neat and clean with the size of the monitor, and easy physical screen positioning. The USB hub even reduces desk clutter, keeping all your wires behind the screen and unseen . I love that I can just run 1 cable to the monitor, and connect everything else directly to the back of it. No more crawling under my desk to reach the desktop. I used to have 2 wide monitors and all their power and connection cables all over my desk, now I can do just as much if not more with this one monitor. Plus it has built in blue-light and anti-eye fatiguing features, that my other monitors did not have. I used to wear blue light blocker glasses all the time, but not anymore.

I realize that the resolution is not quite the same as 4K, but it's definitely very sufficient at 3440x1440. If I was watching nature movies all day, then maybe I'd go for a 4k screen, but this ultra wide display is where it's at for work and play. I hooked up my gaming laptop to this, and set the resolution to 3440x1440, then bumped up the refresh rate to 100hz, and everything is super smooth, and the field of view is incredible, it reminds me of almost wearing a VR headset. The games looked great with no lag, and amazing response times. The colors were just as good as any 4k display with HDR10. The monitor can display over a billion colors in HDR10 mode. Everything was very impressive, and my laptop seemed to handle the video load a lot better than a 4K monitor, in fact a lot of games started dropping frame rates using the 4k settings. I have not seen that yet on this monitor.

You can even hook up your consoles to the monitor for similar experiences. The Xbox consoles are closer matched to the PC experience, and even offer supporting resolutions of 1440 on the Xbox one and series X/S machines. The Xbox consoles even offer FreeSync and HDR.

The Sony PS4 and PS5 do not offer 1440 resolutions or FreeSync. You can still connect your Sony console to the monitor, but it will have a stretched look to everything. The effective resolution on the PS4 and PS5 will be 1080P at 60Hz with HDR*( on PS5s and some PS4s).

Any capable laptop or desktop will be able to reach the full potential of the monitor at 3440x1440 and 100Hzs.A lot of devices will connect at 3440x1440 and 60Hzs, so you might have to go into your advanced display properties on Windows,or straight through your graphics cards software to change the refresh rate.

Overall, I am very pleased with this monitor as it meets all my work and gaming needs.

    Great monitor, love it

This quickly became my favorite and primary monitor. I must say that I like everything about it except sound which I will address later.

    Size:

34” wide screen with slim design is definitely a great size and well above standard screen size which in my personal opinion makes this a premium monitor. Monitor sits on adjustable, tiltable and rotatable stand, which it’s also 100mm (quick press and release) VESA mountable. Stand base also has simple rubber made cable management clip to keep the cords in place. Curved screen definitely offers great visibility and new exciting viewing experience from any angle. I use this monitor as primary screen for both my computer and my home surveillance system (4K NVR) simply by switching input sources or using PIP mode. It is pretty heavy (21lb) so be very careful if you decide to mount monitor on arm or wall mount.

    Picture:

Very clean and bright picture with great resolution up to 3440 x 1440 @100Hz and aspect ratio of 21:9. With sharp and clean picture you will enjoy this monitor regardless are you playing games, watching videos or doing office work. Monitor offers 5 pictures modes: Custom, Standard, Cinema, Dynamic contrast and Game mode. It also provides speed settings for response time (standard, faster and fastest).

    Sounds:

This monitor does not have a speakers but it does have 3,5mm headphone output jack. I must say that I do not like sound quality delivered to headsets since it’s in my personal opinion good only for gaming, bringing lots of background sounds to front. I have external speakers so this was not a big deal for me.

    Features:

Picture in Picture (PIP) mode which allows you to use two sources at the same time (split screen or full screen with picture of 2nd source on one of the corners.

“Eye care”, mode which those who use computer for several hours a day will appreciate. It offers Adaptive picture, minimal backlight and low and high "eye saver mode" which you are guessing is dimming the screen and adjusting the brightness.

USB-C output with 90w charging power to charge your phone is another of cool features on this monitor.

    Ports:

This monitor offers 1 HDMI port, 1 DisplayPort, USB-C (which can charge your phone), RJ45 network port, 3 USB’s and 1 3,5mm jack.

    Energy use:

This is Energy Star certified LED panel

Useful for productivity but takes getting used to.

A good number of years ago, curved TV’s were the hottest thing at CES, and while that trend did not last, this trend of a curved monitor for high-end desktops is here to stay.

There are several reasons why you’d want to go to a single widescreen monitor vs a dual-screen setup, but there are also several reasons you may not want to either. This review hopefully will help you make that decision for you.

My current desktop setup consists of two 24” 1080P (1920x1080) IPS screens; for a lot of my everyday work, a single widescreen 34” in a 21:9 format would be a more suitable replacement. Considering the max spec resolution of [email protected] (1440p) and its size, it is equivalent to my dual-screen setup.

    Unboxing

The large 34” widescreen monitor is packaged well; removing the screen from the box was quite a bit easier than I thought it would be. Just be aware, the box is big enough and just about heavy sufficiently that you may need to use a second person to lift it, and the backseat or fold-down rear seats if you plan to take it home with you in your car, after all, it is a big monitor.

    Setup & Usability

The monitor setup is straightforward; everything that comes out of the box is very organised. Requires only a screwdriver to attach pole to base. The monitor itself feels well-made and sturdy. It comes with a built-in cable management attachment near the bottom to help keep the two (power & HDMI/DP) necessary cords neat. The laptop also has a 90W Power Delivery USB-C interface that allows you to use a single cord display and power connector for your laptop and provides extra USB connections.

The initial setup via HDMI was easy, though one needed to reset the resolution to match the screen. Using Display Port also was no hassle in comparison. USB-C video connectivity was a bit unpolished of an experience; even so, my laptop requires more power and far outstrips the 90W PD via USB-C, which meant it needed to be plugged directly into the wall with its charger to use the USB-C video out.

I liked the central control on the bottom of the monitor, as it is easy to find and adjust settings. The monitor provides ample ergonomic adjustments from colour temperature adjustment to display height (about 5” rise) and tilt angle up to 25*. This monitor can be set to be placed in a very ergonomic position for any office setup.

    Workflow:

This monitor was tested both on a PC and a Mac to evaluate the possibility of getting more of these monitors. A late 2013 Mac Pro is used for editing 4K footage and is usually hooked to dual 4K screens. The setup experience of this monitor with the mac was not any different from the PC. We loved that as an editing solution, it was easy to fit in all the necessary windows needed to create and edit. The timeline and source windows all fit in nicely, and because they are on one screen, it eliminates some of the headaches of dragging and dropping clips across screens. However, in this case, the 1440P resolution meant this monitor is more set up for my everyday use than hardcore 4K video editing. If you do not need the ability to preview 4K for video editing, this screen will work well, but in my case, that was not an option.

So what would be this monitor good for? Gaming? Frankly yes... I enjoyed playing Counter-Strike on a curved screen. It made for an immersive experience, but caution must be used as when running it at 1440P, depending on your gaming rig video card setup, your frame rates may drop. I preferred a windowed 1080P layout but nothing beats the immersive 1440P. That said, games like Rocket League and GTA-V provide quite an enhanced gaming experience.

When it comes to writing documents, graphics design and coding, the monitor has my dual 24” setup beat. While I tend to have reference documents (or a movie) on the second monitor, the ease of having it all on one monitor and not having to turn my head to look up a reference made things so easy. If anything, the ergonomic solution made me more productive once you got used to the deep curve. The curve is intense, which takes some getting used to moving from a single or dual monitor setup. The distortion of the image from the curve is quite noticeable at first.

That said, the downside to this monitor is that you now have one 34” wide, vs two monitors that act independently and can be independently controlled. I still think there is a place for a 34” Ultra Widescreen over dual monitors. The overall productivity increase from having one monitor is unquestionable. The clarity, colour quality and overall fatigue levels from not having to turn your head constantly helps. The decision on should you go for dual monitors or a single monitor will come to your use case criteria. In my case, I have replaced one of my daily desktop setups with this 34” ultrawide, while I source a 4K version of a curved ultrawide to replace the dual 24” IPS screens.

    Pro’s

    Solidly built, good looking monitor

HDR image quality, capable of 100hz refresh (though I don’t think it made a difference to me)

Large clear ergonomically compliant monitor that is easy to set up and use every day

    Con’s

No speakers built-in, only a headphone out (via the HDMI / or USB-C), but audio quality sucks.

Take a bit of getting used to the perfect spot where you are comfortable to see the entire screen. The sweet spot is quite immersive as it's quite a deep curve.

The Samsung A650 is Ahead of the Curve

The Samsung A650 34” ultra wide curved monitor has been beautifully crafted and engineered to give you more screen without adding to the desktop clutter. With the A650, I eliminated a docking station and a pair of aging 23” monitors from my desktop.

First of all, this monitor has excellent build quality. It is a heavy monitor, requiring an all metal base and metal stem to support it. I love that there are three degrees of freedom to make physical adjustments to the monitor. The monitor slides smoothly along its stem to allow vertical height adjustment. This means I no longer have to resort to stacking old textbooks to adjust the height of the monitor. It also tilts up and down and can also swivel left and right.

The monitor has plenty of choices for input connections: HDMI, Display Port, and USB Type C. It also has a standard headphone jack, 3 USB Type-A ports, and a LAN interface. With this many connections, it basically turns the monitor into a docking station. I’m using a Dell XPS which lacks ports of any kind except the usb-c thunderbolt connector. Now I only have a single cable running to the monitor. No need to have a separate power charger to the laptop when I have it docked and charged to the monitor. The monitor provides up to 90 watts of power. I have access to all my portable external hard drives which are connected to the usb ports on the monitor. What a clean setup! It made my desktop literally clutter free. Another welcome sight is that the power cord for the monitor is simply a regular cord. There is no bulky power brick attached to the cord like you would find on many monitors in the market today.

The 34”curved screen is nothing short of amazing. It has very thin bezels. It is bright with excellent contrast, sharpness, and vivid colors. The screen is anti-glare and non-glossy. You can set it up anywhere in your room without worrying about having too much reflection. It also has wide viewing angles. The screen has a 21:9 aspect ratio. Using Windows Snap features, I am able to mimic a dual monitor setup and use half the screen for my e-mail browser while the other half is reserved for working on documents and spreadsheets. Beside the standard screen adjustments to color, brightness, contrast, etc., the Samsung A650 has a feature to change the warmth of the display to make it easier on your eyes and reduce fatigue. The monitor also features Picture In Picture (PIP) and Picture By Picture (PBP). Both PIP and PBP allow you to view contents on the monitor simultaneously from two different input sources. PIP basically places the second display as an inset to the larger display. I find PBP to be the more useful of the two since it splits the display in half with the left side from one input device and the right side from another device.

Another bonus with this monitor is that it has VESA mounts. The mount spacing is 100mm x 100mm.

I can’t find anything negative to say about the Samsung A650. I use it solely for office productivity and watching videos, and I am very happy with it. In fact I am even contemplating purchasing another one for a super ultra wide dual curved monitor setup, but that would defeat the purpose of having a clutter free desktop. So much for clearing up my desktop, I’m in...I’m getting another A650 monitor!

    A good multi-purpose monitor

I’m always excited to try out new monitors. They are an essential element of any workstation - even if you primarily use a laptop - and depending on what your line of work is, a monitor can make or break your project. I’m a photographer by trade and so I’m always looking for the best monitor for color accuracy and uniform brightness across the screen. While you can certainly go through the paces of calibrating monitors for your needs, if you start out with one that is color accurate, you are that far ahead of the game when you start. With these needs in mind, I decided to take a look at the A650 Series monitor from Samsung.

To start, this monitor is not a 4K monitor. With a resolution of 3440x1440, it is considered 2K since 4K resolution starts at 3840x2160. Even though it’s not 4K, this screen size still works beautifully with games that support it. The monitor is labeled as “WQHD”, which stands for Wide Quad HD. The QHD part of it means that the monitor has four times as many pixels as 720p resolution (standard HD). The Wide part refers to the wide resolution, but that’s apparently a bit redundant since all HD resolutions are meant to be widescreen. The monitor has a refresh rate of 100Hz, which is impressive when paired with the screen resolution. In my opinion, it’s sort of the middle of the road for refresh rate for gaming, but when you think about all the other activities the monitor might be used for, 100Hz is a good option - especially if you are upgrading from a lower refresh rate like 60Hz. With a contrast ratio of 4000:1, the monitor has a nice range of brightness vs. dark levels. It also has a brightness rating of 300 candela per square meter, which puts it into the ‘high-level brightness’ category for monitors/TVs. With these specs in mind, I would consider this a decent monitor for photography, but it’s probably best suited for general productivity, gaming, and other entertainment purposes.

Setting up the monitor is quite easy. It comes in three pieces - the monitor, the stand, and the base. The stand screws into the base and the monitor snaps into place on the stand. The monitor can then be adjusted for height, tilt, or left-to-right orientation. The monitor comes with an HDMI cable, power cable, and USB-C cable. One of the coolest features of this monitor that might be overlooked by some people is the absence of a power brick. The monitor only has a single AC power cable that plugs directly into the back of the monitor and then into an outlet. This was a joy for me to see because I hate having to deal with power bricks.

The USB-C cable is included because the monitor features a USB Type C port with 90W charging power. I tested this against a 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro that requires a 96W power adapter. After a few seconds, the MBP recognized that it was plugged into an external power source and started charging. The system profiler still was still showing that the battery was not charging and that the laptop was not plugged into AC power, but the menu bar icon showed that it was receiving a charge. The battery percentage even started increasing. I was actually thrilled that the UBS-C port not only provided a charging option for a connected device but also allows for the visual connection as well. There are four source ports - 1 x HDMI, 1 x display port, 1 x USB-C, and 1 x headphones. There is also a LAN port provided for additional connectivity.

The image quality of the Samsung monitor is really impressive. I have used it in conjunction with my 16-inch MacBook Pro for standard productivity use as well as photo/video editing and design work. In addition to that, I’ve also connected an Xbox One X and gaming PC for gaming tests and had an Apple TV connected for video streaming purposes. The monitor has performed admirably under every circumstance and I have truly been impressed with the picture quality across the board. To verify the picture quality of the monitor, I ran the Eizo monitor test. This is an online test that checks 13 different measurements including a test pattern, defective pixels, uniformity, color distances, gradients, sharpness, viewing angle, gamma, and response time. The Samsung monitor passed each of the tests, without any issues. Another test I ran was the MotionMark test. It’s a graphics benchmarking software that tests the graphics performance of your monitors. The Samsung received a score of 859.69, which was much higher than my current monitor's score of 654.14.

The retail price of the monitor is very reasonable and I believe this monitor is worth it. It’s an amazing piece of equipment that provides premium visuals and an easy set-up. It really excelled at showing off high-quality graphics in movies as well as being awesome for detailed work like photo editing. This is a wonderful investment for anyone looking to upgrade their monitor.

    Real Estate for Days!

This is the best Ultrawide I have ever used! Fantastic for spreadsheets, immersive for gaming, and great for watching movies! The 1440 resolution is fantastic on the UW format, and it even has a decent refresh rate. I can work and play on this monitor at the same time! It feels like 2 monitors in one!

    Works fine

The monitor is simple to set up. I'm overall happy with it.

My only complaint is that under "Specifications" and in the "Included" section the Best Buy website indicated that a DisplayPort cable was included in the box. NOPE. Only the power cord and HDMI were included. I had to return to Best Buy and purchase a $20 cable. This wasn't the end of the world; but I'm just saying if the product description says something comes with the purchase, INCLUDE IT or remove it from the description.

    loving it!

Really enjoying this monitor, I use a USB C and have tried HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort but prefer USB C. The only downside to this monitor is that the power delivery (PD) will not charge my MacBook Pro so I do have to have my MBP plugged into both the monitor and a power source to keep it charged. Other than that I enjoy the quality of the screen, great for 4k movies, and its easily adjustable with one hand both in height and angles. If you are on the edge about getting the 35 inch curved display this is a great alternative.

    great deal

This thing is great, My first ultrawide ... I got it so I could exp. my new 3060 GPU at its fullest. I know there are much much much better setups but as some one who has been a console gamer their whole life this is a world of difference, it feels like i discovered a whole new world.

Anyways I also got an amazing deal, was able to score an open box that had legit nothing wrong with it, still had the protective film on it. Open box + sale combined I scored this bad boy for about 280 after tax.

If your looking for 1080 p at its best this has got you covered.

    Productivity Necessity

If you use your laptop a lot for work, you’re likely wanting a large screen to view two or three screens a lot.

    This works.

This brightness matches a Macbook Air M1 with 400 nits. LG makes a model $50 cheaper, but the brightness is noticeable (250 nits).

    Awesome Monitor!

I've finally upgraded my two tiny monitors in my office. After buying this monitor, I don't think I can go back to dual monitor set up anymore. This is just fluid. So much real estate I can work with.

Controls are at the bottom of the monitor, very convenient and user friendly. The colors are super crispy. The color red is really red and black is super black! I used night mode a lot so this is just amazing. I'm a typical user. I don't test whether there's bleeding or ghosting. All I can say is I was blown away with this monitor. Two BIG pluses that came with this monitor. 1. There's an HDMI cable included. SWEET!!! 2. I has a build in speakers. I wasn't expecting that. And to seal the deal, it was on sale so that solidify my decision to purchase it.

    Love this monitor.

I purchased this monitor to upgrade my smaller two monitor setup I had connected to my Desktop PC. 2 - 27 inch monitors on a dual monitor stand.

One of the reason's I purchased this was due to the fact I could have multiple devices that can connect to it. So when I work from home I no longer have to look at the small screen on my work laptop, I can plug in the HDMI cable to my laptop while using the Display Port to connect to my desktop.

I can use them as individual screens or combine them to make one ultra wide screen for gaming.... I just replaced the dual monitor stand with two single monitor stands and I was ready to go. Setup is easy and switching between inputs is a snap.

34 inch LG in the center and 27" monitors on either side.

Look No Further! Amazing IPS LED Monitor

I previously had purchased the 29" model for this line of LG IPS monitor and I loved it no questions. However, when i found out there was a 34" inch, i waited for it to be on special and purchased it. I bought a open box-excellent quality. Mine did come with a tiny scratch in the corner of the actual screen (compare to 2 or 3 dead pixel size) I purchased the 4 warranty, so I just going to keep it as it was USED-Open box and I do have warranty :)

Now lets get to the point. This is a true IPS lcd, it is view able at a parallel angle: that is truly impressive, I can be in the kitchen and still see the image very clearly and colorful, colors do not lose their saturation or vibrancy. This monitor is very colorful and vibrant, when it comes to the colors. Image is crisp, I know this is only 75 hertz and only 1080p, but the sharpness of image and text is way above average and completely satisfying. I cant say much for the speakers as I use my home theater. The joy stick controls the LCD menus. Brilliant idea, makes navigating so user friendly. If you are debating between an ultra wide monitor or a curve LCD, this is worth the best bang for your buck. Look no further, get the 29" or the 34" if like you prefer the bigger screen and don't mind a little pixelation (if its 720p, 1080p looks superb can hardly tell, 4k is an over kill IMO, 2k if you have the money then go for it) Will never go back to traditional 16:9 monitors, for ever 21:9 IPS LED LCDS :)

Extra Work Space & Improved PC Gaming Immersion

Selecting a monitor is tricky these days when there are so many budget options available. In this case, I think LG has created a good balance of quality, features, and price. I moved from a 32 inch monitor to this 34 inch ultra-wide (**See a visual comparison in the attached pictures**)

This monitor is best equipped for work, or for PC gaming that provides the option to use the ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio. Be aware that neither XBOX One or Playstation 4 are compatible with the ultra-wide mode (as they don’t want to give certain players an advantage over those who can’t see the additional visuals on the far edges of the screen). The monitor does not have speakers, but does have a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The included software disk does provide options to divide up the screen real estate into various options, but the average user will probably just appreciate having extra horizontal space for placing program windows side by side.

When you fill the screen, it is incredibly immersive! Racing games are probably the most impressive as you are almost wrapped in the visuals of the car and the road around you. It is also a very good option for viewing security screens as multiple cameras can all be displayed seamlessly on one screen.

There following are the reasons that I rated the screen at 4 stars instead of 5:

    - The stand is stationary and cannot be adjusted up or down.

    - The stand is not particularly stable, which means the monitor is fairly wobbly. If you bounce your leg, have a sit stand desk that you are moving frequently, or if something bumps your desk; you will very much notice the monitor shake.

    - The physical bezel is incredibly small, but the image does not display right to the edge of what appears to be the screen. There is about a quarter inch of “screen” that does not display any image.

    - The matte screen does a pretty good job of reducing reflections, but it also makes the image feel slightly flat and not bright and glossy like a HDTV image typically is.

What initially excited me about having an ultra-wide monitor was the ability to watch movies in cinematic widescreen without having the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. BUT, this not as easy as I was hoping. Let me explain:

It turns out that the aspect ratio of 21:9 (which is equal to 2.2:1) is actually a marketing term for the Ultra Widescreen aspect ratio of 64:27 or 2.370:1. Ultra WIdescreen is basically designed to display films that were recorded in CinemaScope or equivalent Anamorphic formats. Unfortunately, 21:9 is not included on Blu-Ray discs. The black bars at the top and bottom of the screen do not appear simply because your screen is not as wide as a theater’s screen. The black bars are actually a part of the 16:9 source image put onto the disc. Only high end Blu-Ray players are able to extract the middle rectangle that equates to the 21:9 image that we need to accurately fill this ultra-wide screen.

It also turns out that movies are typically NOT filmed in ultra-wide screen. The average movie is filmed with an aspect ratio of 1.85:1. This is MUCH closer to 16:9 which equals 1.77:1. So, in order to determine if your source image will be a correct fit for this ultra-wide screen, you would first need to know what aspect ratio the video was filmed with:

:::HOW TO DETERMINE THE ASPECT RATIO THAT A MOVIE WAS FILMED IN:::

Look up the movie on IMDB.com

    Select the option for MORE.

Under “DETAILS” you will select “Technical Specs”

Then in the chart you will see the Aspect Ratio listed

So, finding video that was filmed in true 21:9 or 2.3:1 can seem like a bit of a nightmare. Couple this with the fact that the average Blu-Ray & 4K Ultra High Def Blu-Ray players don’t have the option to output in 21:9. Instead they only allow the option of 16:9 and stretching to fit the ultra-wide screen. But, in the age of digital streaming, there is hope.

Amazon’s Prime VIdeo service, YouTube, and Netflix (within a web browser) all provide the option to display in the ultra-wide 21:9 format. Otherwise, you will probably be viewing a 16:9 image that is stretched to fit this ultra-side screen (which is a stretch that is quite noticeable).

    ***Helpful Note***

21:9 can also represent ratios of 12:5, 43:18, and 64:27

Overall, If your goal is to increase the immersion of PC games, or have the maximum amount of horizontal real estate while doing computer work - then I do recommend this monitor.

If you do not care about having the most horizontal space, you can save a good amount of money by sticking with a regular monitor. Take a look at the attached picture of a standard ratio 32 inch monitor compared with this 34 inch ultra wide monitor. Be aware that the 32 inch screen costs literally half as much.

The choice is yours. Choose what is best for your needs & enjoy!

    Great UltraWide Monitor

The monitor is excellent for anything you want to do. The price is a good deal too. I was using a 28" 4K 16:9 monitor and tried this one. They are the same height wise, but the Ultra-wide extra inches on the side make a big difference. At the default setting of 2560x1080 it looks like there should be more real estate available. Using a Nvidia 2070RTX one of the default settings is 2560x1440. You only get 60Hz vs 75Hz at this setting but the extra space is worth it. You may have to adjust some windows settings for it look correct at the 1440 setting, but once adjusted it looks great. This isn’t software DSR, but an option from the monitor.

For regular desktop use, you have plenty of room to put programs side by side or in windows, 3/4 screen, etc. The included disk has a program that lets you divide up the screen as you see fit. See attached picture for modes. These are only for the programs on the computer screen, not other inputs. At 2560x1440 the 2070RTX has been breezing through games. Everything on high, and a much expanded field of view. You'll have to adjust many games to take advantage of the extra space.

The screen has presets and you can do custom settings. The presets are okay and change the picture to adjust to what you are doing. From gaming, to work, to movie watching. But, going custom provides the best options. The presets can lock you out of certain settings or being able to adjust them. Custom lets you alter any setting as you see fit. There is an HDR emulation setting too. The presets are good, but you may want to change them depending on what you are doing.

I hooked up a HD Blu-ray player and it looked as good as any TV. But, no HDR to test. Switching back and forth between HDMI ports is easy through center button/control stick on the bottom of the screen. This gives you access to all the monitor settings. It’s easy to navigate and adjust the options.

The only downside to the monitor is displaying it. The included stand is not adjustable. I use a 100x100 VESA mount and it has worked for three other monitors with no issues. This monitor had a problem. The mounts are recessed and the head of my mount would not fit. Spacers worked out fine. You could have issues. They have an adapter, but if it's a standard VESA 100 mount you shouldn't need one. I’m going to stay with this monitor for now. At 2560x1440p the 2070RTX hasn’t struggled and the games look great. I’d say 4.5 stars if possible due to mounting issues, but there is nothing wrong with the display, it’s big and really expands your desktop. It is basically the same as having two monitors on your desk without the bezel between them.

    Great Monitor . . . At First

I bought this monitor for $300 in October of 2019. It worked wonderfully for about a year, offering a clear, bright picture and an ultrawide screen that made parts of the games I play into works of art. For the first year of this product's active life, I would have happily given this monitor a five star review.

Unfortunately, in January of 2021, the monitor started going black every three minutes with an accompanying flicker. I tried every solution on the internet including checking the refresh rate, ensuring that my PC's drivers were updated, using the other HDMI port, using another HDMI cable, and switching out what was connected to the monitor from a Windows 10 PC to a Windows 7 laptop to my Sega Genesis Mini. I moved all wifi devices well away from the monitor as that was listed as a solution elsewhere. Nothing worked.

After exhausting all options, I called LG's support and did a little more troubleshooting. The problem remained unsolved, and since my monitor is just a few months out of warranty, I was told that I'd have to pay $400 to get it fixed. I declined and am currently shopping for another monitor.

It's disappointing in the extreme because my previous monitor was a smaller LG that still works and will be what I'm using in the interim. It's not as if the unit was ever abused or dropped; I take great care of my possessions. Every other monitor I have ever had, LG or not, has lasted for years, and I've never actually had a monitor go bad before. I recall being at Best Buy picking out this monitor and choosing between this one and another LG because my previous monitor was so good that I wanted another LG. However, between the lack of longevity of this unit and the idea of having to pay more to get the monitor fixed than what I originally paid for it, I don't have any brand loyalty left for LG.

Maybe I just got a bad monitor and your experience may vary, but I'm disappointed, angry, and frustrated and can only give this monitor two stars. The attached picture is what I see when the monitor is "on."

    Great product

Amazing Monitor. Big enough to split screen into thirds but still clear enough to work on each efficiently. Saves a lot of space with not needing 2-3 extra monitors.

    Great office wide screen!

100% satisfied. I use a laptop and had two monitors set up to use with it, but that meant a hub and three monitors was putting miles of wasted mouse moving. This one monitor replaced my two others and got rid of tons of wires and is much more efficient. My Remote Desktop doesn’t like the split screen functionality but I just run that on the laptop and all my other programs on this. Side by side excel documents are soooo much easier to use with this. Love it!

    Perfect for the right person.

If you’re looking for a gaming monitor, there are better options. If you’re looking to be able to have several apps open at the same time (streamer, musician, podcaster, stock trader, student) this is an excellent monitor. It is pretty good for gaming too but the refresh rate maxes out at 75hz.

All that being said it was the perfect choice for my needs.

    Does the Job

Taking in count the other options in the same range of the price, it's one of the best. The only bad thing for me it's that it doesn't have the option to adjust the height. I had to buy a monitor support, other than that I think is a good monitor.

    Excellent Monitor!

This monitor is massive!!! It is very worth the price, and is very efficient at doing schoolwork, gaming, or just generally browsing the internet. It fits way more on the screen: which might cause a problem getting the right resolution for some games: but nonetheless a great addition to your personal space, or work area.

-Just make sure you have good eyesight because the factory scaling is quite small.

Great buy for a large monitor

Love this monitor. it is same height as standard HD monitor, but about 2x as wide. Seems to be fairly scalable to any application or applications. I did have a duvet use with my Dell laptop, but not on my Lenovo. Bonus feature - it has 2 HDMI inputs and sound output (1/8" analog Jack) - so put a smart TV stick in it, and done external speakers and it doubles as a TV. One drawback is that there height is not adjustable, but it is tiltable. The height is tolerable, but would have liked to be able to raise it up another 2-3 inches. Overall, a good but for the price, and my productivity has gone up - esp for large spreadsheets, CAD, etc.

    Pretty solid ultrawide monitor

The picture was crisp and clear, and the setup was pretty simple.

It really gives you a lot of real estate to work with for desktop space. LG even has a program you can download for ultrawide monitors (called OnScreen Control) that helps with splitting the screen however you'd like.

One thing I'd say is that it won't give you that exact two-screen feel because it's 29". If you're looking for something that's essentially two screens in one, go for the 34". You might also want to spring for the curved monitors at that size because I found my head turning side to side a LOT for simple things like clicking the Windows button in the corner or closing apps/browsers.

    Best 34” Ultrawide

This is the best Ultrawide I’ve had to date. Ive tried the Gigabyte 34 and the Asus Tuf 34 and this is by far worth the extra $$. I paired this with a 27GP950 and it’s the perfect combo for whatever you need. 180 FPS and G-Sync Ultimate is the perfect for First Person Shooters on Ultrawide. Great option for anyone who works from home and also games. If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative go for the 34GP83A-B at $800 rather than $500 for some of the lower end alternatives, you wont regret buying an LG.

    A Disappointing Mess

I received this monitor with very bad backlight bleed and one green and one red (stuck) pixels. I tried all of the methods known to attempt to remedy these pixels, but none of those methods worked. After looking through Reddit, this is a very common complaint about the 34" UltraGear series of monitors.

For a monitor that's $1,300+, this is unacceptable and I'll be returning it for a different brand.

Faster and Brighter than the LG 38GL950G-B

This monitor is amazing! It's faster and brighter than its big brother the LG 38GL950G-B (albeit with a slightly lower resolution and pixel density) the colors really do pop in gaming and the HDR is noticeably better due to its GSync Ultimate certification. It overclocks to 180 hz but you have to lower the color depth to 8 bit to accomplish this. Personally, I can't see a difference between 8 bit or 10 bit. If you don't want to lower the color depth you can still run it at 144 hz at 10 bit color. Additionally, it has exceptional low input lag for an IPS panel, it's Vesa DislplayHDR 600 certified, and it has 56 edge lit dimming zones. This further explains the reason its brighter than previous LG ultrawide displays. Even though it lacks full array local dimming, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at it's performance given it's price point. If you are looking for an amazing gaming monitor then this might be the one for you.

    Absolute perfection.

I purchased this monitor to mainly use for gaming. I have an HP Omen 15 gaming laptop with an Nvidia 2070 with super max q. It’s not a super high end gaming rig, but it can push Warzone to about 80-100 FPS with the right settings. This monitor can handle all of that and then some. The additional screen real estate and higher frames has helped my K/D improve from about a 1.15 to a 1.6 - 1.8 average. I also use the monitor for work and it almost entirely eliminates the need for dual monitors.

My only gripe is that the bias lighting isn’t as good as I hoped it’d be. In a completely dark room, it’s great. But in a dimly lit room it’s simply not bright enough to notice it.

If you have the desire, and the funds, don’t hesitate. Buy it. You won’t regret it.

    Does all the things

After several days of research, I decided that this monitor was on the very short list of upgrades for me. It ticks all the boxes for what I want: IPS, Adaptive Refresh, 160hz, 3440x1440, VESA compatible, and a subtle curve. Tim from Hardware Unboxed was my best resource regarding reviews.

My only complaint would be the glow in each corner when dark images are shown. It's really only noticeable during a screensaver though. I bought this model open-box, so I think it's possible that another customer was more unhappy about than I am.

industry-leading UltraWide that delivers the goods

Beautiful display. The colors are perfect, the brightness is just right and the gameplay is silky smooth.

How they integrated 1 joystick to control all the options is genius. Having it located on the lower bezel instead of the industry standard right side bezel is a very welcome touch.

The only con I have is the price. At ~$750 this would be an excellent deal but at full price (which I paid) $1000 its still worth it.

    Highly recommend this monitor.

    Buy This Now

This is the best purchase I’ve made alongside my new PC build. This monitor is perfect with its crisp display, beautiful colors, and the overclocked refresh rate of 160Hz. At first, I was skeptical of the hype for ultrawide monitors but honestly I don’t think I can go back to 16:9 after this. It does come with a hefty price tag but I believe it’s definitely worth it.

One thing to note is the panel lottery and backlight bleed. I swapped a jackpot 27GL850 with zero backlight bleed for this and I do notice a good amount of it in the lower right corner, but it’s definitely not a reason for me to return the monitor.

    All in all, highly recommend!

    Fantastic ultrawide gaming monitor!

    Coming from a Alienware 3418DW.

    Pros:

    - extremely low input lag/response time

    - HDR is nice

    - Gsync compatible (no screen tearing)

    - great refresh rate

    Cons:

    - doesn’t swivel

    - HDR 400 can sometimes blow out certain dim images if near a bright image (think of a mountain in front of a sunset)

This is a neat perfect monitor. The only thing I can think that could’ve done differently that wouldn’t affect the price is the inclusion of a swivel base. Didn’t think I would want it, but it’s driving me crazy that the stand isn’t straight on my desk (nitpicking at best). A higher HDR certification and adding FALD zones or micro LEDS (for better HDR) would make the price higher, so I can’t knock it for that.

In short; if you’re looking for a great ultrawide gaming monitor, I can highly recommend this one.

    Fantastic Screen

I have been a Samsung screen fan for the last few years, up until recently. I purchase an LG OLED 4k TV last year, and earlier this year I purchased the LG UltraWide model that was equivalent to this model. That screen was cranked in an accident so I purchased this one to replace it. I felt I had to, because once you go UltraWide, you can't go back to 16;9.

I do gaming in my free time, but I also did a lot of music production and video editing work. The UltraWide screens are amazing for these tasks. I have so much on my screen in my editing software, I hardly ever have to scroll or move Windows/Tool bars.

I didn't think this monitor was going to be too much better then last year's mode I had, but I was really surprised that it improves on it quite a bit. The HDR effort of this model is done really well for HDR gaming. I am getting 160fps on competitive games like Ridley League, and it's super smooth looking.

I have a RTX 2080ti gpu and the G-Sync works great with it. I wasn't happy with dishing out another $1000.00 for a monitor, but I discovered that it was gong to cost almost that amount to repair the last one where the screen was cracked.

I love LG's screens in their higher end devices. They are rather fragile, as any screen tends to be, but if there was a flaw with their panels, I'd say they are a little too fragile. Outside of that, I absolutely love this monitor.

Very Small and Narrow. Too expensive.

I didn’t keep this monitor because of its price. This would be a great monitor if it cost around $500-$600. I also didn’t like the bezels because they are thick, the monitor doest get too bright either, compare to my LG 32 UltraFine 4K. If you have a 32 inch monitor, this monitor will feel small for you. This is basically a 27 inch monitor slightly wider. You do lose a massive vertical real state. Its around 2 inches shorter. The 1ms is basically useless, since it introduces inverse ghosting and this is very distracting. This monitor lack of speakers.

The monitor is very fast at 144hz everything feels buttery smooth, the stand feels really premium and sturdy. The software has tons of features and customizability, the crosshair is very useful. I like how organize are the settings on the monitor, and that I can adjust everything even the hue and saturation of each color, select multiple gama profiles, color profiles, etc.

    Excellent Monitor For Productivity

I searched and reviewed monitors for quite some time before selecting this one, and its perfect for my use case. I typically use it for productivity tasks where I can view multiple files and websites at once. I don't use it for gaming. While reviewing I found there are just so many monitors available it can be overwhelming, so I've listed out the main reasons why this monitor stands out.

    1. IPS screen

Great viewing angles. I purchased a Samsung 34" but those are actually VA panels, so on a widescreen unless you sit far back, you will get a lot of distortion when looking left and right since the monitor is so wide. So IPS is really a must have for widescreen monitors and this one has it.

    2. Resolution

This is a complicated topic. While on Windows you can change the scale (different from the resolution), this is only supported for certain monitors on a Mac and appears as scale rather than resolution (they munge both together on Mac). That means with a 4k screen if scaling isn't supported for your monitor, everything is insanely tiny and unreadable on a Mac. While you can get some programs that hack to try and support scaling, it seems to be hit or miss and they might stop support in the future. So on a Mac the resolution of this monitor is HD and is actually perfect for me, not too big and not too small being HD resolution. I also got a QHD 34" before this and text also is quite tiny, and if you change the resolution to HD, it looks quite bad since it isn't the monitor's native resolution. This is HD natively, so everything looks good at that resolution. If I had Windows though I might consider going for a higher resolution monitor and use the scaling function, but then the price rises dramatically. Basically HD for this monitor is 2560x1080, QHD for the same size is 3440x1440. They don't seem to make 4k 34" but LG has a 34" 5k that would be 5120x2160. That one does support scaling on Mac however but it is very expensive.

    3. Adjustable stand w/Vesa

The monitor stand is adjustable so you can change the height. However I did find the platform sticks out in front of the monitor quite a bit so I'm purchasing an arm instead. It does support Vesa though so you can add your own which is a must.

    4. Brightness

This monitor does 300 cd/m² which is typically brighter than anyone would want to look at. There are a lot of monitors in this price range that only do 250, which may be too dim.

    5. Speakers

While not a must have, I was surprised to find the speakers to actually be quite decent and not as obtrusive as having left and right computer speakers.

    6. Form factor

The bezels are quite thin and the monitor overall has a sleek and minimalist look. I don't really like the stand but it is definitely sturdy and handles movement very smoothly.

Paired with my laptop and love it! I don’t need to scroll left to right on my excel spreadsheets because it is so ultra wide, saving tons of time.

    Works great.

Works great. Has great video quality. It’s wide enough to go through my excel sheets without issues. The only thing I wished it has was the adjustable stand that the video shows on the bestbuy website. Other then that it’s great.

I purchased 2 of these monitors for a dual setup in the end of May and all of a sudden, one of them just stopped showing my screen and instead, constantly flickers pixels. I'm not happy.

    SCAN LINES — NO GO!!

    SCAN LINES!

Just got the monitor today... all excited to have a long monitor for my design work. I didn't at first notice it, but there are now very noticeable scan lines that run across the monitor. It makes it extremely distracting—especially for any kind of design work, or video work. Very disappointed. Not only that, but it's very dark and there is no adjustment nobs, buttons or peripherals.

Save your money and get a better monitor. Unless you're okay with looking at wonky lines all day.

    The zero compromise monitor, but...

This monitor looks amazing! I love it. There it is not without it's issues though. First, there is an issue with flickering when G-Sync is enabled. This goes away if you disable G-sync. What seems to trigger it are medium gray colors. I believe this to be an issue with Nvidia's GPU drivers (I am using a 3090FE). Also, Nvidia has messed up Display Stream Compression in it's latest drivers so you cannot go to 240hz refresh with the current drivers, You have to use Nvidia's driver version 456.98 to enable 240hz mode. Lastly, there are now adjustable monitor arms that can support the weight of this monitor as it is curved, the one I bought even though I tightened the tilt bolt all the way would still sag. I ended up using a steel pin though the hinge to stop the sag. If you are planning on using the included stand or using a wall mount you will be fine.

    Incredible!

This is absolutely the best gaming monitor available! It checks all the boxes. This is exactly the same monitor, as the G9 Odyssey with the previous problems fixed. If you buy it, make sure you update to at least firmware 1007.1(latest as of 11/2020)

    Awesome piece of kit

Absolute beast of a monitor, picture is incredible and the curve takes a bit of getting used to but it doesn't take long.

Monitor does get warm (it's huge so no surprise) I grabbed a USB fan which I keep on and aimed at the unit to keep it cooler.

No big issue just something to be aware of.

It is super fast and crisp at all speeds and the g-sync compatability works well.

All in all this thing is incredible but make sure you have the desk space for it, pictures do not do it justice. It is Massive!

    This is NOT the G97T

I ordered this as the G97 is supposed to be the updated 'business' version of the G95 with most of the issues corrected. I am hoping that perhaps they have ironed out the quality control issues, and this G95 will not be troublesome, even though it did arrive with one dead pixel.

The chat support was utterly worthless on this issue.

It was love at first site, but it didn't last...

Samsung censored my last review on their site, so I'll leave this with BestBuy instead. Quality control is very obviously lacking on these displays. Against all public recommendations (Reddit, Google, etc.) gave this monitor a try only for it to let me down. Great looking piece of equipment and I would have loved for it to have worked, but my first interaction with it is a defective display and Samsung support does not recommend using the 1008 firmware (which fixes 240hz mode with 30 series Nvidia cards) even though this G97T monitor ships with G95T firmware. (Samsung doesn't update the G97T specific firmware for some reason). I would stay away from this display unless you want to go through several returns finding a decent one and are willing to troubleshoot the display driver and Nvidia compatibility on your own.

Viotek - GNV29CB Ultrawide Curved 29-Inch 120Hz Gaming Monitor - 3-Year Warranty (HDMI, Display Port)
    Description

VIOTEK returns with an all-in-one solution for gamers, creators and productivity enthusiasts. Beautiful image quality, game-winning features and top-notch color accuracy. That's the promise of the GNV29CB, an ultrawide 29-inch curved gaming monitor. The GNV29CB is a compact display that delivers an UWFHD 2560x1080p monitor resolution with a 21:9 monitor aspect ratio. Its 120hz monitor max refresh rate gives you video fluidity that's great for video conferencing, casual gaming and T.V. binging. The VA panel pushes 16.7 million colors with a 107% sRGB color gamut. So colors are truer to life and the 3000:1 contrast ratio (1M:1 DCR) means you get inky blacks; bright whites; and RGBs that are vivid and rich. Its super-tight 1200R curvature creates a more immersive experience. In games that natively support a 21:9 aspect ratio, this desktop monitor reveals more of the content without a lot of head/eye movement. AMD FreeSync with low-framerate compensation (LFC) minimizes image distortion on high-octane games, incl. ghosting and stuttering. Even if the refresh rate drops below 48Hz, you’re covered. (Also works with G-SYNC.) GAMEPLUS crosshairs helps make ever shot a bullseye. And the user-activated FPS/RTS display optimization brings out the extra detail in the shadows. Its 4ms (GTG) overdrive response time adds rapid-fire speed into the mix. Two HDMI ports (HDMI 1.4 & HDMI 2.0). One DisplayPort 1.2. One 3.5mm audio out. Plenty of options to connect to the devices you want. And with 75x75 VESA, you can mount the GNV29CB to a wall or attach it to a VESA monitor mount. The ultrawide 21:9 gives you more real estate, while the low-bezel frame takes up less desk space. Picture-in-picture (PIP) and picture-by-picture (PBP) gives you even more options for working smarter. You'll also get the best-in-market dead pixel policy and 3-year limited warranty, backed by an American company. Need assistance? Our expert customer service is available via chat, email or phone.

    5 Features
  • ULTRAWIDE 21:9 MONITOR: The full-hd monitor resolution (2560x1080p) delivers pixels packed with detail and brilliant colors with a 107% sRGB color gamut for high color accuracy. And the ultrawide screen real estate gives you more room to enhance productivity.
  • GAME-READY 120HZ MONITOR: The fast refresh rate means smoother video transitions with zero dropped frames. Perfect for movies and video conferencing. Easier on the eyes, the higher refresh rates help reduce eyestrain during extended use.

Great WFH Monitor, Price is fantastic.

I work from home. Recently, I have had to add a second laptop to my desk, eliminating my dual monitor setup. I bought this to replace the dual monitors. So far so good. Unboxing impressions.

    1) Very well packaged. The manufacturer went to great lengths to prevent damage.

    2) The setup was simple. The stand goes together with two screws. Easy peasy.

    3) Port access is tough. You have to remove a panel to get to it easily. The panel adds nothing because it is behind the monitor. Why have it at all?

    4) Picture quality is good with HDMI and display port. Display port is a bit sharper, but HDMI works well too.

All told it seems to do everything I need. If you are WFH and need more screen real estate, this is a great choice. For $250, it is a no-brainer.

    Good monitor, no audio output

I was mostly looking for a quality monitor, which this happens to be. I would say the only negative thing about this monitor is that it does not have an audio output on it. Therefore, you are going to be forced to use some sort of headphone jack to hear any sort of audio from it. Other than that, if you are fine with not being able to hear anything from the monitor itself it is a great purchase and it is a great size as well .

This is a must have for anyone

This monitor has greatly transformed my office space. I previously used 2 24” monitors with my MacBook Pro and it was a hassle splitting and extending the screens with usb-c hubs. Once I hooked up this monitor, mounted it to the desk, and downloaded the scree software, voila, it was magic. I can multitask pulling up trade charts, my trade software, and other screen items all on one monitor. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes to edit or trade.

    GREAT for productivity!

I purchased this for my home office. I don't game much anymore and haven't tried this monitor for this yet. Though, my teenage son is drooling over the opportunity! I've been using the monitor now for about a month and the experience has been wonderful

I work with a lot of large spreadsheets consisting of a lot of columns. Excel is AMAZING with a monitor this wide. I also do a lot of multitasking and keep a lot of applications open throughout the day. I am able to see a lot of things going on at once when I don't have the screen filled with a spreadsheet.

I would recommend getting a good monitor arm. First, you must have a pretty deep desk as the monitor legs will take up quite a bit of desk space. Because the monitor is large and 1080 resolution, your font is not small, which allows you to push the monitor back a good way and still be able to see it well. A monitor arm will give you much more space and allows the monitor to hoover over the desk.

I put a lot of research into finding an arm strong enough to hold up a monitor that weighs nearly 30 pounds without the stand. I was able to purchase the Loctek D7L Heavy-duty Monitor Arm. It is rated up to 33 pounds and does a good job of keeping this monitor supported. It was the cheapest monitor arm I could find that would support the weight.

I find the monitor to be a premium device. Some argue that a higher resolution would be better. However, I still prefer the 1080 resolution for work productivity so that I am not straining my eyes looking at small text all day. The text isn't huge either...it's just right in my opinion.

This monitor is simply impressive. It makes time spent at the computer very enjoyable....especially if you like to multitask.

Small - Thin - Wide screen monitor.

This is my first curved monitor. I used this with a HP pavilion laptop. It seems that the laptop can not go as wide in the settings to display it correctly. It will display in zoomed mode only. I tested this on a Nintendo switch and was surprised that it was able to fit the screen automatically. However it did have a foggy image to it. No to bad at all so it’s not going to be to much of a distraction. But if your looking for image Quality you will find it and be annoyed by it.

I have yet to test this on my new pc so this image thing might be caused by the Nintendo switch itself. It’s unclear right now as my ox is not here yet. I like it but the only few things that really just tick me off about it is the cords there’s to many cords this comes with. I have them all plugged in to the monitor but there not in use. Only the power and the speaker port are being used right now. Anyway the cherry that makes me hate it is the was the ports were made. Unless you plug everything your going to plug into it straight out of the box your going to find yourself in frustration when you want to plug more stuff in later as the plugs are upside down under the screen. And the cord arrangement needs to be reopened to store your newly added cords. It comes with a small mounting plate but I wouldn’t mount this on the wall at all. At this price anyway. It would of been nice if it came with a installed camera but I like that it didn’t in the end. I added my own. I tried using a yeti mic on this screen nothing happen. My mix never detected it was plugged into anything and obs didn’t detect it as well. So for further testing I’m waiting on my ox to get here. It does have a few marks on the screen but are not very noticeable unless your really looking for these. It should have a light in the back but I can never see that while using it so I won’t be reviewing that at all here. The stand kinda takes most of the space under the screen. I think they need to design a newer stand for it but it is solid for now. As long as you don’t move it a lot I think it should be fine. Other than that I would say keep your box. If you move you’ll need a box that fits this.

    The ultimate monitor

I LOVE this monitor! I purchased two of these for our home office that hubby and I share. When I hook up my laptop to it I have the potential of using the equivalent of four monitors...what! My productivity has increased tremendously. And when I really want to focus on something (especially creative designs) I can scale my windows to be larger and still have two monitors.

I highly recommend these if you have the space. I was worried at first that it would be too large but that fear went away as soon as I sat in front of it to work. I know it is designed for gaming and I do not game but it definitely has upscale my home office.

    Fantastic Monitor. Very Immersive!

I love this monitor. I tried 3 27" msi's to game on and it got old. Too wide and the bezels between the screen was ok. I then went to a 32" 1440p monitor. It is and still is fantastic, but i wanted something more to emerge inside my games. This monitor is great! It is 1080p, but it doesn't take as much to put the fps. I have a 2080 super can i get around 130 fps. Not all games support it, but a lot do. Destiny 2, Hitman, Avengers, Far Cry 5. The settings are easy to navigate too with the little thumb stick on the bottom.

The monitor is awesome for both gaming and work. instead of using multiple monitors the CHG9 becomes my workhorse. the only issue is that you have to download the EasySettingBox to get the snap to window function. Unfortunately for me, it conflicts with some of my work software. All-in-all, simply a great monitor.

Great ultra wide screen monitor, have been using this for over a month and so far it has been working flawlessly. The ultra wide screen really helps with the office work by opening two application windows side by side without any black strip if two monitor frame.

Also the response time is good for office work, will not suggest this for competitive gaming but for office work and light YouTube and movie watching this is great!

Also the screen really shine while watching 21:9 aspect ratio movies. This gives a really immersive experience. HDR10 is an added feature but don’t expect brightness as current generation LED or OLED TVs as the peak brightness is not high for this monitor.

Two gripes I have about this monitor which can be deal breaker for some are the external power brick which takes space under the table and the input ports are not down facing rather then durecgly facing the back side which can be issue with space constraint setup.

Finally the curvature of this screen is not bad as it’s not a wild curve but good for normal viewing!

    Work at Home Monitor

We bought this for my wife who has been working from home for almost a year now. She had been working off of two DELL monitors she got from her employer. They were hurting her eyes and giving her a headache. We bought this after I did a bunch of research into different monitors. At first she didn't want to get it because of the cost but decided to try it out. She loves it. The different ways you can split the screen allows her to do everything the two monitors allowed and more. Now she says she doesn't know how she will be able to go back to work without this monitor. The only bad thing about this monitor is LG's online support. They did not seem to have a user friendly website and the info in it wasn't up to date.

Great for working from home. Gaming not so much.

Working from home is way easier with this extra wide curved screen. Love it! My kids didn’t like it for gaming which is actually a good thing for me but if you’re looking for a gaming monitor this one may not be for you. Something about the refresh rate.

    Incredible Gaming Monitor

Picked this up at my Best Buy store in VA Beach yesterday. Comes packed with multiple cables and other things including a booklet and wall mount screws. My Series X Xbox detected 4k UHD for the resolution setting which surprised me. Also detected the HDR and 10 bit color. Was blown away how sharp and crisp everything rendered on screen was. Looked as crisp as my 4k 16x9 monitor but even better with the ultrawide effect. Using the Racing setting for the picture as the colors are so vivid. The screen is super bright and clear. 200 hz and 1 ms response are the icing on the cake. Overall I am very happy with this beast monitor. $315 sale price made it even better. My brother, who lives in VA Beach, is picking his up today for his gaming room and Xbox Series X. If your on the fence about this monitor get it. You will not be disappointed. Nothing beats Ultrawide. Period.

    Good Curved UW Gaming Monitor!

I had purchased the Asus TUF VG35VQ Gaming Widescreen Monitor as a gift for my boyfriend. My boyfriend plays mostly MMO type games so having that extra screen real estate is beneficial plus I was able to price-match it for $439.00 compared to its retail price of $579.99! Post unboxing and set up, although the unit is made of plastic, the quality seems to be really good and the it's vibrant enough without blinding you. Luckily we don't have a defective panel (i.e. minimal backlight bleed - probably about 5% at most). Overall, I think this is a good upper lower to lower midrange curved UW gaming monitor especially if you're on a tight budget.

    Great ulta-wide monitor for gaming

When I was looking to replace my 60Hz monitor, I was looking for something a bit bigger, still curved & that offered a 144Hz refresh rate... and boy did this monitor deliver!

First off, it's huge. When I hoisted it onto my desk the first time, for a brief moment I thought it wasn't going to fit. That ticked the first box. As someone who doesn't enjoy the bezels on the tri-monitor setup, this is exactly what I wanted - a panel that fills my entire field of vision without arbitrary plastic lines in the way.

Moving up to 144Hz was worth it as well. I never put much stock in the refresh rate, but I now appreciate why gamers aim for this 144 magic number. Everything feels so much more responsive & games look fantastic. If you are moving from a 60Hz panel, just remember to update your graphics settings to 144Hz in the OS to ensure you get the benefit.

For general use this monitor makes multi-tasking a breeze. It's the size of 2 standard 27" monitors side-by-side & using the Windows shortcut Win+Left Arrow\Right Arrow, you can easily "dock" a window to fill 50% of either side of the screen. Again, without any pesky bezels in the way.

Two minor criticisms I have, one of which is not under Asus's control:

    1) 4ms response time - this causes you to see just the faintest of ghosting on text when you're scrolling super fast, but honestly, I had to go looking for it to notice. I've not been able to definitively pick this up while gaming, only on text on high-contrast backgrounds. Certainly not an issue for me, but if you're looking for the ultimate crispness, you might consider looking at 1ms panels from Samsung or Dell.

    2) Ultra-wide support in games - I've come across some oddities in some games where the ultra-wide support is somewhat lacking. From cutscenes rendered in the center with black borders (understandable, if the cutscene was pre-rendered at a certain resolution), to UI elements sitting way off in the corners. Consider checking support for your games on ultra-wide before diving in. Some games do have excellent support though - The Division 2 "centers" the HUD off from the sides, making it easier to see without having to turn your head.

In all I think it's an excellent monitor. Clocking in at a full $100 less than the comparable Samsung panel, it provides rich color fidelity, very good response times & loads of screen real estate to render stuff on. Would definitely recommend for gaming or for heavy workloads that require constant focus switching.

    Ergonomic Monitor

Great for multi tasking but could use another 10" in height to optimize productivity. Setup instructions are concise and work extremely well. Product comes with machine screw risers for a mount. Power jack receptacle may be mislabeled; it has a USB icon next to it. Picture in Picture (PNP) may need the screen size settings adjusted on computers each time you switch set-ups.

    great except the button....

This was my first ultra wide monitor, so be warned, it gets some taking used to. the two things I wish were better on this product are the refresh rate and what caused me to swear= the button. the single button is used for inputs, screen resolutions, profiles, etc. since you have to rock it side to side it was nearly impossible to seamlessly switch inputs. once i accidentally hit the "crosshairs" on and left it on as i didn't want to deal with toggling the button anymore. overll if you have space on your desk, it's well worth the money to get this monitor so you can see everything on one monitor.

    ASUS STILL ON TOP

Asus has always been one of my top three go-to companies for tech.

    [NO SPECIFIC ORDER]

    ASUS

    SAMSUNG

    LENOVO

Even though this monitor is only a 1080p, it allows me to run multiple screens and switch back and forth seamlessly. This comes in handy for editing, file transfers, and whatever other task requires multiple monitors rather than cascading windows. It was reasonably priced for what it is and the OLED versions were not practical for my needs. It does take up some real estate on my desk but I have everything organized so that my workflow doesn't suffer. I would recommend this monitor as an entry to mid-level upgrade for those who do not want to run multiple smaller monitors but want that overall functionality.

    Well Worth The Release Wait

Purchased this monitor 12-14-2019 and as of 12-18-2019 (date of writing this review) I've logged 21 hours of utilization.

That said I want to say that this monitor was slated to release before it did, several push backs on the date and from my findings on-line, it was to iron out some issues it suffered from after development.

I want to speak about the things I like:

    1. The overclock refresh rate feelings a lot more organic than some other monitors I've tested in past times. One I'd like to speak on is the Asus PG248Q, I'll use that as a reference because I own that 1080P set, the native refresh rate feels fine at 144Hz, when pushed to 180, though it feels more smooth, there is the random ghosting, even in the mouse cursor. With this particular panel, I don't see that as much. From a gaming perspective, I don't play anything FPS at a competitive level to feel the need for 175Hz, however in day to day computing it feels absolutely amazing.

    2. The pixel density here, it is amazing. I've been using Ultra-wide (gaming) monitors since the original run of the Acer Predator, that was 3440 X 1440 at 100Hz. Though it had some opportunities, it was the start of many variants that later came in a more perfect form from companies like Asus (much better option) and even Dell Alien-ware of the same model turned out to be really well. Still, with this particular monitor, the higher resolution in the Ultra-wide format feels like a much sweet spot for people that are looking for content creating and the next level for 4K gaming.

    3. This monitor does not produce a ridiculous amount of heat and or noise, and that is something that I was concerned about because noise was a major call out when this monitor was in it's Beta stage.

Some of the opportunities that I feel this monitor has:

    1. I am not a personal fan of the RED accents, I'm not even sure who came up with the idea that RED was the color that spoke to gamers, I've been into PC gaming since 2013 and even before the RGB era, RED has always been that color, what I would have liked to have seen are maybe some replacement plates for the base of the monitor, maybe a black one. I do understand that this is a "gaming" monitor, but this has so many perks that will speak to people beyond gaming, and the accents of RED could just throw off a person looking to buy. I feel that is something LG should consider going forward.

    2. You are unable to access the maximum refresh rates all while taking advantage of HDR. That is a limitation that should drop this monitor by $200 retail, in my honest opinion.

That ends my separation of likes and dislikes.

Speaking of HDR, I've seen the few reviews written on here speaking to the HDR not being real HDR or max. This monitor sits in a very different space. Anyone looking for max nits of brightness needs to target a monitor that has full array local dimming, that needs to be the Acer predator that does 4k at 144hz, this monitor being Ultra-wide, it's kind of in a different space. I don't know, some are picky, I never expected HDR1000 from this set but I can tell you that the HDR on this works, it's a nice kick for people that will use this for film/photo creating, anyone looking to inspect the content that they have shot in HDR format will be pleased, I'm no pro but I've done some edits and it's a welcomed tool In my opinion.

My build setup that I am currently using for this monitor (New build for it in progress)

Case: NZXT H500, I went black case with Red cable bar

    Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X

    MOBO: Asus TUF X570

GPU: MSI RTX 2080 Gaming Trio

My gaming experience for the single player games from Tomb Raider, Batman, Resident Evil, etc style games has been wonderful, most of these games sweet spot is 60FPS, the higher refresh rate certainly helps with making timed counters (Batman series) feel fluid.

This is not a monitor that I'd recommend for people playing video games that are of the fighting game genre, I used to play Street Fighter at a professional level, and I still play a variety of fighting games but this monitor isn't the optimal choice for fighting games, if you play fighting games as a main genre, do not invest in this monitor for that!

I give this monitor a 5 star, it hit all my expectations. Again, I've used Ultra-wide options before, what this has given me is larger screen, higher pixels, HDR, higher native and OC refresh rate VS what was new years ago from Acer, Asus and Dell in the Ultra-wide categories.

Lastly, get a Best Buy Geek Squad Protection plan on this, if you invest $1800 or got it open boxed for $1600 then be prepared to invest another $150 for a 4 year product replacement plan!

    Great gaming ultra wide

You need to know this first. This monitor needs at least a 2080ti. I had a i9/2080 and wasn't happy with the settings quality and frame rates. Had to go too low on quality to appreciate the screen. Would get tearing and other issues on the 2080. I upgraded and haven't regretting going 2080ti.

I still have my acer 240hz and I miss the speed of that a little gaming but the picture quality makes up for that.

If you are worried about the brightness it is plenty bright. HDR looks good but not the best on the market, but the speed is what I appreciate. After buying this, I don't want to hit a 1000nits. ouch! That would be too bright to be enjoyable to me. The contrast can be annoying the way it is used to manage brightness. I don't miss HDR when I turn it off. Nice to have for movies

Don't personally care about the LEDs on back but they are cool and plenty bright. Easily turned off. Required to run a usb cord to pc for light screen sync function.

I wouldn't want a bigger size, this is perfect for my work requirements. Better than the 34 size for me.

In game changing stuff like volume makes screen blink like input is changing. Its annoying.

Biggest complaint is price. Wish it was cheaper, but that's the game.

No dead pixels no issues. Nice quality, Im happy.

....but worth it. What can I say, that hasn't been said already? Nothing. Great monitor. I can't think of anything bad to say.

Amazing ultrawide - but limited HDR experience

So before I jump right into the review, let me tell you about Best Buy (or LG) quality control..

I have been following this guy for a while, and finally got my hands on one online on Best Buy. Granted was an open box model I managed to pick up for $1,600. When the monitor arrived panel and stand were in good working order, basically brand new. However the power brick that is included with the monitor, was missing a 3-prong adapter.. and other included items like CD, manual, DP, HDMI, USB cables were just chucked into the accessory box.. Luckily Microcenter near me in Tustin had the power cord I was missing for $12 or so.. BUT for a monitor that will run you over $1,900 after taxes and all, that is unacceptable. I would expect to receive ALL original contents ESPECIALLY the power supply for this thing. Was not happy at all..

But now for the monitor itself:

Colors out of the box are amazing. Thing is huge. 35'' inches across. Now due to its pixel density at 3840x1600, you WILL BE LIMITED to some features.. for example you will not be able to use 10-bit, full dynamic color range above 120hz refresh. This is a limitation to Display Port 1.4 which is the best its gonna get for now. BUT THAT SAID. I am running a 2080Ti and stuggle to get above 80-100 FPS in most games, so my suggestion: 3840x1600 native resolution, 120Hz refresh, 10 bpc output color depth, and RGB FULL dynamic range, are the settings you'd want. Now unless you're running 2080Ti's in SLI in which case you can probable manage to hit those higher/peak refresh rates.

175Hz refresh rate DOES work after OC via monitor OSD. For those wondering if you can set multiple windows for desktop workloads, you can but you'll have to download some software from LG's support site. Very convenient as it will "split" your monitor into various windows and styles, based on your choosing, where you can drag and drop application windows to have multiple side by side all on this same behemoth of a screen.

Input lag is minimal. One of the biggest selling points for me was the 1ms response time. I haven't tested it too much but compared to my other monitors, response times are outstanding. Just make sure to set the Response Time to "FAST" and not "FASTER" via monitors OSD, faster setting based on other reviewers have stated that that setting will cause overshoot or visual artifacts which are not pretty.

G-SYNC worked right out of the box for anyone wondering.

Lastly the ColorSense (or w.e) which is the color spiral on the back of the display, is actually quite nice. There is a scroll wheel on the bottom of the display that you can press in to select from a few static colors, or RGB. And when you scroll it, controls the brightness of the effect. You can clearly see how bright this gets in the picture provided, which goes quite nice with my RGB setup.

FINAL THOUGHTS: I think this a great monitor. I did not mentioned HDR as I don't care much for HDR on monitors, YET. It's still not perfected with the technology we have today. So if you are after a "decent" HDR experience monitor, this really ain't the one. IF however you are looking for a display that looks good, ultrawide, can offer high refresh rates, and low input lag, not to mention lots and lots of real estate. This guy hits all those check marks. HOWEVER, it is not worth $1,900+ .. not for the specs you're getting, especially when you limit HDR. For my needs, 5/5 OVERALL. But for anyone seeking perfection, 4/5 overall but would definitely still recommend this monitor. Especially if you can snag an open box like I did and save yourself $200.

    Best Ultrawide Monitor

Perfect size for an UltraWide monitor. The 3840 x 1600 gives it a taller size compared to other UltraWides. HDR can be better but I turn it off and plays smooth no tearing and excellent colors.

Great gaming monitor for immersive experience!

This is a great IPS screen for great viewing angles and color accuracy. High refresh rate but would recommend keeping it at 160hz. Overall brightness on SDR is great.

HDR is not really good though. Main thing you will notice is that in dark area, the overall brightness drops to highlight the light area. Most of the time, I would recommend playing in standard SDR.

Yup this is the one for now!

    Warnings:

-Purchasing a 4k Monitor will change your perspective and you wont be able to go back to 1080p

-You need to be able to drive this panel with appropriate hardware to get the value for the money you are spending towards it.

-I can perfectly get 144hz w/ an 8bpc RGB Full Dynamic range with a 2080 Super via display port 1.4 (Soon to be 3080) I'm not sure this supports HDMI 2.1 though, unless a firmware update allows it to

-You will need to test and configure this monitor to your liking for quite a bit to get it stable for your gaming experience. Mostly through your GPU's control panel, but also do not forget to change settings on the monitors OSD as well.

    My thoughts:

I'm a [email protected] Engineer that is also a gamer and this monitor is probably the best hybrid monitor on the market for production and gaming. Not only do you get to benefit from the high refresh rate from gaming but everything is buttery smooth to move to look at.

Using the software from the vendor, I have split the screen into 6 different sections for productivity work and it works flawlessly. My current avg fps on the hardware i have is about 54 fps @ 4k ultimate setting which is fantastic for the time being. Once I move to the next gen GPU's its going to be god tier after tighter OC's.

People like to complain about ultrawide monitors because they mention that they don't want to have to turn their head while gaming. I haven't had any issue with needing to shift my eyes unreasonable far to any direction as this fits your field of vision perfectly. I spent about 6 months debating on the PG35VQ vs this monitor and finally went with this one because of finally being able to answer the "HDR" question, which I will present to you now. "Is HDR 1000 worth 3 inches of diagonal screen retail?"

This monitor does not have strong HDR in any sense nor did I purchase this monitor for that content. I don't think HDR content in gaming has a large enough presence in the community to have that much sway on my purchasing decision for a gaming monitor.

    Pros:

-The curvature is subtle and quite pleasing

-Clarity is beautiful, picture is fantastic.

-Plenty bright for me, I literally can't imagine HDR.... I don't want to wear sunglasses (or be super edgy and get those gunnar glasses) to game lol

-Was able to price match the monitor down to 1500 (DO THIS!)

    Cons:

-Sphere lighting appears to stay on even when the computer is off.... not sure if there's an automatic setting for it beside manually doing it.

-I have about a 3ft deep desk and this monitor will sit about 1ft in from the back. (I'm thinking about a monitor arm for this at this time) So it may be closer than you might like.

-Not everything supports a 21:9 ratio so some games may have black bars on the side..... but those that do is AWESOME.

    Definitely happy with this purchase!

    Outstanding monitor

I was really hesitant to actually purchase this monitor, but I am glad that I did. It was a little rough getting used to the way more accurate color range on the monitor and going from a 4K monitor at 160 ppi (pixel per inch) to a 2k monitor at 110 ppi. It took about 2 months for me to completely get used to the reduction in resolution. I was debating taking the monitor back before the return period was up, so I decided to hook up my old monitor and realized I could never go back to my old monitor. The old monitor looked completely washed out and the colors looked so sad. I have tried a 34” ultra wide monitor before that I returned because the height made it look funky, but this 38”s height is perfect and doesn’t make the screen look short. I would highly recommend this monitor.

    Monitor is near flawless

Havent had this display long and other than a little back light bleed in the lower left corner this monitor is perfect.

I can confirm it is the X34p version even though the picture is of the older model X34.

I have it running at 120 hz and have been throwing about every game I own at it and its performing flawlessly.

The extra field of view is amazing as this is my first ultra wide.

Great job on this refurb Acer.

    Don't let "refurbish" fool you

This product "can" be better than a new in box one. Sure the box and the provided cables are garbage and I suggest purchasing a newer display port along with this but the monitor itself is amazing and Here's why.

This is an "Acer" refurb, meaning that it has gone through additional quality checks. Most of these screens are returned because of a dead pixel or could not overclock to 120hz. So Acer fixes those issues. You're almost guaranteed a working, 120hz display with these refurbs.

Atleast the last 2 i've purchased have been that way.

Absolute, unmitigated trash. DO NOT BUY.

These refurbs are absolute garbage. Don't fall for it. Just buy a real monitor in good condition, you are NOT getting a deal.

My first unit started glitching out when overclocked, with black lines all across the screen and generally acting funky. I ordered a replacement, that one arrived with a cracked panel and was busted out of the box.

These are BAD refurbs. They come in a brown paper box with the cables sloppily rubber-banded together. The paperwork is printed badly on printer paper. I don't know who's doing them, but they're terrible. I'd hope it's not acer, that would be embarrassing. I'm stuck with a super busted monitor now since the replacement I ordered took over a week to arrive and pushed me past my replacement period on my original monitor, which has weird spotting in the backlight, tons of light bleed and again the aforementioned problem that it can't actually be overclocked to its full speed.

    Don't buy this.

Spend the extra couple hundred bucks and get something new from a better manufacturer. These refurbs are garbage. You've been warned.

    Great Monitor

This is an awesome monitor with incredible features. The resolution is great for multi-tasking with several windows. I love the USB hub and even charge my iPhone with one of the ports. The clarity of text is out standing. I am giving 4 stars because the refurbished packaging was very poor. Mediocre packaging and some cables looked like they had a sticker or glue stuck to it. I ended up returning the refurbished and paying a little more for a new one.

    Awesome!

I got the 35BN model which is spec for spec the same monitor. But the BN has a far better warranty. 3 years. Its very big. And pretty fantastic! Pretty much plug and play. I did not need to make any color adjustments. It comes with 1 usb C and 1 HDMI. I went out and bought a diplay port cable and am using that. These monitors are brand new 2020 models. So new they are not even on the LG website yet. I called LG to register it and they were really great. The stand is sturdy easy to put together and very nice. You can do quite a bit with the on screen display so thats another nice feature. But wow look at some 21x9 video on this baby! Awesome. Great for gaming editing blu ray and just surfin the web. Love it!

Monitor for Windows 10 and Mac Mini w/ M1 chip

I purchased this monitor for displaying a Windows 10 and a M1 chip-based Mac Mini. I think it deserves 4 out of 5 starts. Just a couple of complaints when it is used for the Mac Mini with M1 chip:

    1. It fails to re-acquire the Mini's input when the Mini is restarted. The monitor has to be restarted.

    2. The black color appears as greyish black.

Only major complaint is I already have a dead pixel in the first few months of owning it. Def not awesome, but nothing's perfect and it isn't distracting enough due to the massive size of this thing. Overall I would recommend.

No frills but does what it does amazingly

I took a shot in the dark buying this as I could not find any actual review online for it. In my opinion it is the best option for high refresh ultrawide IPS displays- in this price range. Any other display is orders of magnitude more expensive. It gets plenty bright 400nits is about where most displays are and IPS over VA definitely has its advantages.

One star off for connectivity options as there is no USB Hub which the Acer monitor (model XR341CK) I previously tried had- though it was much worse in many other ways.

G-Sync does work with my 3070 flawlessly, HDR in Windows 11 looks awesome. Motion is fantastic, the refresh rate is perfect, this monitor seriously blew me away.

You do not need to use the annoying OSD buttons on back of the monitor, you can download "HP Omen Gaming Hub" and control the monitor thru Windows which I love.

I imagine to keep the price point down things like RGB, swiveling stand, and USB hub were left out- and honestly I'm ok with that.

    Great budget IPS display.

As noted in the previous review, this is a very solid monitor. It was in great condition out of box, no crazy over the top styling which I appreciate and just one simple light to identify if the monitor is on/off. Stand isn't too big on the desk. Doesn't rotate but can raise & lower, and also tilt a bit. Very mild back light glow around one or two edges (this is common for all IPS monitors, I'd say this is one of the better ones for how little glow there is). Comes with power cable (power brick built into monitor so just a standard computer power cable which is fantastic) and a display port cable.

If you're like me and want an ultrawide and prefer IPS, this is worth checking out. You get basically everything the 800+ IPS ultrawides have for almost half the price, and the only thing you lose is the curve (this screen is completely flat). Bezels are pretty small too which I appreciate.

The omen gaming hub software (download from windows store) allows you to change some of the monitor pre-sets right from the computer without using the on screen menu & buttons.

    Faulty Monitor

I will start off by saying I'm a big fan of LG Ultra Wides, and am using the older version of this monitor right now, and have had no problems with it over the last 2 years. However, this particular monitor I am having problems with. I purchased this for my office, and it worked fine for about about 3 weeks, and then all the sudden the screen started messing up, things got fuzzy, and it appeared as if there was a very big crack across the screen... except their wasn't. I ran my fingers over the place that appears to be damaged, and it's not damaged at all, it's just a defective monitor. If you look at my picture, it looks like the glass is cracked, but it's not. Fortunately, I am still in the period where I can return or replace this... I'm likely going to replace it, because I've had such good luck with LG monitors over the years, but I am really disappointed in this one.

    Terrible design. Dos not work!

Horrible and not thought out product. It is not recognized by windows 10. Does not support drives to sync with windows. And does not come with any links to support. The LG site doesn’t even recognize the product.

Perfect extension to my MacBook Pro

I’m using this with a 2018 MacBook Pro 13 inch as an edit workstation and it’s awesome! The screen real estate is massive but not too much and I prefer the non curved form for graphics work. Resolution is good and easy on the eyes. Setup was easy. Pretty much plug and play with the Mac. The only criticism I have so far is that the build feels a bit flimsy so I definitely won’t be taking this on the road. But as long as it just sits on my desk it’s is perfect.

Just what I was looking for

Great monitor! This thing is massive, and I used it to replace two, very old, monitors I was using. It cleaned up my desk and cable situation nicely, but it's also just a great screen. Colors, contrast, and brightness were good right out of the box, so I haven't felt the need to mess much with the settings. I buy my own display port cable even though it came with a (kinda short) HDMI cable in the box. No issues with flickering or light bleed or dead pixels or anything like that. Just a really good screen at a good price.

    Minor cosmetic damage, missing screws

Works as expected ( needed updated firmware, backlight bleed in line with reviews, HDR is lame ), no dead pixels or screen damage. Basically as I expected.

Mine had a scratch on one of the edges and some adhesive residue on the back which came off easily.

Big problem was it only had 2 screws, also missing one of the cables it’s supposed to come with.

Screws are standard M4, but you need 4 to secure the stand. I had a bunch so I didn’t make a fuss but just do an inventory when you get it.

In general I’m very happy with this monitor at this price, just manage expectations and be ready to take your open box item back.

    Name issue

OK i got this monitor yesterday. There is a problem. But first the good news. Monitor looks great no pixel problems or star up issues. It was very responsive and clear.

    Bad news.

Apparently it didn't have a Display port where in the image i thought it had one. So that was a problem. Then when i turned it on it wanted me to click some buttons on screen. Um... Was this a touch screen monitor. Because it isn't. Then when i tried to play a game i noticed a little choppiness while trying to play. I had not set it to freeSync yet. So my bad. Went to set it to freesync. Um......This is not a freesync monitor. It doesn't have it. I think i was sent the wrong monitor. Or someone made a mistake when advertising it.So i need to send it back. Apparently the actual monitor must be pretty good if this one was so well done. I would like to see a 144Hz version some day.

    Works well, design falls short

I needed a large monitor fast to WFH and this refurbished model was able to ship ASAP. It was easy to assemble and connect and the picture is sharp. The drawbacks are that the controls are in back in a tiny joystick that's not easy to manipulate, and there are no speakers. You'll have to fork over another $19 for a cheap pair. This monitor is pretty pricey, considering those issues.

LARGE monitor for a new experience!

My second monitor went out and I teach online - I needed that to have grading papers on one side, and other information on the other, since I hate max and minimizing papers I am working on. So I got this HUGE one at a great price, the same I would have spent for another 24" one I was looking at. I love it! Because it is so wide, it is almost like having a third screen because I can split it into two, and have three columns of open work, one on my main monitor and two on this one. Worth every penny.

Great for Spreadsheets and Comparing Docs

The extra width is a great replacement for running duel monitors if you need to compare documents side by side or for viewing spreadsheets with multiple columns. Text is clear to read and the minimal stand doesn't take up too much room on my desk.

    Good Monitor But Huge Oversight

I really like the monitor... I can have two full sized applications on the screen side-by-side and it's like having to full size monitors which is great, but a HUGE oversight is the KVM switching. It works for switching between my Windows and Mac laptops, but you have to use the buttons on the back of the screen to navigate the built-in menu not only to change the keyboard/mouse output, but also the display input (cumbers AF)... why couldn't they have made a button on the front or a remote that switches both the display and controls? Would have been 5/5 if not for that.

HDR is broken plus other issues

Screen is bright and vibrant is SDR modes, but HDR support is clearly not working properly. I have an Asus PG27UQ 4K HDR next to it and I can drag HDR content between the two windows and the difference is night and day between this monitor and the one that actually displays HDR properly. The 1006.1 firmware released this week has done nothing to address the issue, and now I get a scrambled image sometimes when switching video modes trying to play SDR content. My $1,500 Asus blows this $2,500 product out of the water. If it's not resolved in the next few weeks this is going back to BestBuy.

    Great SDR, HDR is broken

This would be an amazing monitor if the HDR worked in gaming. SDR content looks great, fast response times in games. I run 144hz mode with a HDMI 2.1 cable then have a display port to HDMI connected the samsung Dolby atmos sound bar, due to this reason I can't run this at 240hz, however 144hz is more then enough for me. Now for the big negative, as mentioned before the HDR in gaming is all washed out, even in windows everything is washed out. Playing HDR video works, but that's it. Now if this monitor was $1000 or $1500 I might say it's worth it, but as of now, it's not. When the big selling point is HDR gaming and it doesn't even work that's a big red flag. I'm hoping this gets fixed in a software update, but not holding my breath. I may take this back and get the Asus PG35VQ, although I do love the 32:9 aspect ratio but the broken HDR is almost a deal breaker. 3 Stars because the SDR performance is excellent, if HDR in gaming worked 5 stars easy. For this reason at this high price point I can not recommend this product.

Cool monitor.. Not Perfect.. But Cool...

Was first in line on July 29th to preorder the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 monitor. It looks great in my office and it's fun to game on.

This monitor is being supported by the following equipment:

    FE GTX 3080Ti (472.12 driver)

    Intel i9-11900K / MSI z590

    64GB Memory

    Windows 11

    I'm also running a LG 39inch Ultrawide and a Samsung 29inch 4K UHD monitor (3 monitors total)

There are some issues that I think will be (hope?) will be resolved with firmware and or driver updates.

    Issues:

    1) Screen frequently goes blank and then back on when adjusting brightness in some games running HDR where Windows HDR is being used. Unsure if this is because of Windows HDR or the monitor itelf. The problem was extreme in firmware 1004 and made slightly better in 1006.

    2) When multiple monitors are attached, the screen does not activate during reboot. It does not matter which display port on the video card the G9 monitor is in. I have to manually unplug the G9 monitor from the video card, let the monitors resize and then plug the G9 monitor back in to get a picture.

    3) The Firmware process is a little cumbersome. If you are using the USB ports and trying to do a Firmware upgrade, the instructions are not clear about the fact that nothing else can be attached to the USB connections.

As for the HDR issues that everyone else is complaining about, it's possible I just don't know what HDR looks like. So I have no reference point. I haven't seen an issue. But I'm not an authority figure onit.

But, this monitor is beautiful in my opinion. The games are bright and crisp, 240Hz no issue. I've gotten to about 230 FPS in Call of Duty (had to do some extreme cooling on the card to get temps down).

I do wish to some extent this was a full 4K resolution, but that hasn't stopped me from enjoying it.

Great monitor, HDR Gaming is lacking

SDR content is magnificent on this monitor, for productivity use and non HDR gaming it's the best I've seen.

HDR Gaming has glaring issues, without heavy modification of the contrast, gamma and brightness values in Nvidia Control panel HDR is very washed out. I was able to get my unit to something somewhat acceptable and comparable to an LG C9. Dark scenes look great too as the Local dimming works great but only in HDR when forced to On.

Since this is advertised as an HDR 2000nit monitor but it's main selling point clearly needs some more quality control I would say hold off on purchasing this until Samsung fixes it.

Best Monitor You Can Buy, But Deeply Flawed

On paper, yes this monitor ticks all the boxes. Big, curved, HDR, and 240hz. But sadly it does not live up to the hype. First you have to hope you don't get any dead pixels on a unit. Secondly, you will get scan lines running it at 240hz. Samsung has not fixed this issue from the last G9 model. And the biggest issue of course is the HDR, which was improved with a recent firmware update. But it still does't look as great as other monitors. When in SDR and in 120hz, this monitor is amazing. But I did not pay $2,499 to not use the features I was promised. I would recommend anyone to just get a normal G9.

    NOT BEST BUY'S FAULT!

On the first monitor, a dead pixel appeared after a couple hours of use. I returned and exchanged it after a few days. On the second monitor, dark spot (like shadow) appeared on the top portion of the screen only after a few days of use, and now the monitor is not returnable. Never buying LG ever again.

Good display but stand is flimsy

Display is good (and the built in speakers are better than I expected) but if you're going to use the stand on the unit it's pretty flimsy. The stand barely can handle the monitor and likes to away a lot.

    Hardly "Refurbished"

I'm not sure who "certified" this but what I received was a scratched up, very used monitor, missing the manuals, and most of the cables. The cables that were included were just thrown in the box. Now it was a good deal, had it really been refurbished but this is just unacceptable. I'll think twice before I buy anything Geek Squad certified ever again.

    Stunning, pricey but worth it.

Display is gorgeous. Love the design, super clean, solid improvement over previous 49 inch models. Cables are routed into the stand, you won't see any cables. LED lighting is present but it is not too much, at night time it adds a subtle glow if near a wall. I ended up mounting this monitor to the wall since my previous desk arm (Ergotron HX) could not hold it properly.

During games I definitely saw a difference between this and my previous CHG90 144hz. HDR looks fantastic, I didn't see any flickering at 240hz but I can't comment too much on games since I use this monitor mostly for productivity. Make sure you have a powerful enough PC to take full advantage of this monitor.

One of my favorite things in life....

I love this monitor. It is worth every single penny, do not even hesitate, just buy it. It should last you until the year 2030, easily. It's a dream come true, it is impressive, it makes me smile. I don't even play games... I just use it to see all of my stocks and trade windows, and just love, love, love it. I'm not even using it at 240hz, I'm using it with an older Geforce 1080ti graphics card on a VR laptop. I have none of the reported issues with the first batch, knock on wood.

    Beautiful display, But!!

It was a beautiful display. But the display I got had a defected seal around the display and there was a 1 inch slit between the display and bezel that had light bleed. I returned the display and now there is no date on it would be resold in best buy. For the price of this display, it should be perfect.

    Screen leaking is TRUE!!

Very disappointed about this product for several reasons:

    * Nvidia G-Sync Compatible with NO drivers available at launch for the product, and still a month into the launch on the Nvidia site still says it’ll be compatible on the “Upcoming Driver”

    * Adaptive Sync Still Causes Several issues with flickering screen

    * Backlight Bleeding is very present leaking out of the edge of the monitor, the monitor is not adhering properly to the frame of the display. Monitor was manufactured in June 2020

Most advanced monitor on the market

Having the most advanced monitor on the market comes with some draw backs. It works great and looks great but I get some bugs, clicking here and there when I have HDR on, and weird flickering at certain refresh rates but only on certain hardware.

Overall it’s good and I would recommend it especially since Best Buy price matched Amazon’s cost but I do spend time waiting for driver updates because it currently cannot achieve 240hz with a 30 series nvidia card. It’s a known bug but that’s on nvidia, or so the release notes say. I also spend time reading on firmware and other user experiences and bugs because I am a little concerned this expensive monitor won’t last me the full 5+ years I’m planning on getting out of it.

Like I said it’s a chance you take when get something bleeding edge sometimes. It shouldn’t be like that but tis the times and Samsung had QC issues that have been supposedly resolved. I did buy in september and still got a may 2020 model. Supposedly the issues are resolved after august 2020 models and the new 7T “business” model that apparently doesn’t have the light in the back that no one will ever use or see.

Get it if you can afford it and hopefully u get a working model like I did on the 1st or 2nd attempt. Don’t get it if you saved for a really long time and need something 100% the first time.

Light bleed from bezel and dead pixels

My unit arrived with light bleed in the upper left, like others reported online. It isn't terrible or distracting since for me. There are a small cluster of dead pixels in the center top, these are not visible unless I have a bright white background, which is not often.

I experienced dizziness and some neck strain when I first started using this, but I think I just needed to adjust my physical habits and distance to the screen. It was fine after a week of only occasional use. Gaming (FPS) is fine, since my focus doesn't change from the center very often. GTA still makes me a bit dizzy when driving.

I bought this to "future proof" myself and to get into sync with upcoming GPU releases. My current 980ti is unable to drive beyond 120Hz.

    Great monitor with minor bugs

I purchased this monitor for work. I am a professional shout caster for a major videogame company and need to see more than just the game while performing. The real estate offered by this monitor is unmatched at a 144hz refresh rate. The colors are crisp it has all the bells and whistles you would expect from a monitor at this price.

My only issues are with the bugs. When the monitor returns from sleep mode the screen is very dark. I have to use CTRL ALT DEL to bring up the task manager in order to return to the proper light levels.

Other than that it's a fantastic monitor.

    Amazing

This monitor is changed my views, I previously had 2 32" curved monitors, and though I downgraded on size, the new aspect ratio gives my gaming view so much more potential. It's definitely game changing. I also love the Crosshair that the monitor can keep on the screen, so even if I'm playing a FPS I don't have to Iron Sight before knowing exactly where my bullets will be going.

All in all it's a fantastic monitor, I would say the only things I don't like is that you need to find a Heavy Duty mount to support the extra weight. Also, the price tag is a little hefty.
