We used to have a Whirlpool Sidekick. It was a complete nightmare! So far this Maytag is working great but it's still new. Hopeful we can say the same in a year from now. The temp is holding pretty steady, between -4 and 4 degrees. When you have the door open for anything longer than to just open/close it does tend to go up a bit but does always go back down.

Bought this freezer to have extra storage for frozen foods..it's fantastic..just have it on medium temperature and it freezes so we'll.keeps items frozen well below minus 10 or more..it has 5 shelves that are big enough to store so much..I store tons of veggies and fruit and pizzas.and still haven't used all the shelves..I love the way it has a built in light and it's frost free.plus it's a upright .and you can organize all your frozens and be able to see what you have and use .and not having to dig in like those chest freezer..overall.this freezer is a winner..oh and it also has a light in bottom to let u know if u left the freezer open..it will beep ..how cool is that..it's not too bulky either..just the right size to store tons of things.

Never would have thought I'd get excited about buying a deep freeze. But I bought this to replace a 5 cu.ft chest freezer. (Which I hated digging through.) And without actually seeing it, I bought it online. I also wanted to make sure I got a frost-free unit and the sale price was better than the competition. Purchasing and delivery went very well, I might add.

And after receiving I found it exceeded my expectations. The bins in the door are actually practical and hold a good amount of stuff. Love having shelves. It has a light and very well lit. No more digging. And it has an alarm on it if the door has been left open, for too long. Thought that was real nice.

The only thing I had to do was reverse the door hinge to the opposite side. But it wasn't too difficult, as the door is relatively light.

I think the freezer is very cold, I try and keep it below zero.

I wish the shelves were a little deeper or at least have lip, so I bought brackets to put in the space to hold stuff as it won't fall out when opening the door.

The door shelves are deep enough to put a whole pound of butter and two singles in front and fits 7 pounds across.

The bin on the bottom is big enough to put two 13 pounds turkeys and some smaller items.

I wish I had an option on what side the door opens. I would need to call and schedule to come and change it.

Otherwise, I am happy with the freezer.

Large freezer with lots of shelves. I really like that it has a light and a door alarm so it will alert you if the door does not get closed. Upright design helps things to not get buried out of sight as easy.

Was hesitant to purchase a upright freezer vs. The traditional deep freezer but didn't want to take up too much space in the garage. Primary use was for breastmilk and it was perfect. Keep the gold frozen and safe. Had a few power outages and everything stayed solid with no issues. Would definitely recommend.

I love it, it freezes the produce quick. However, the suction is so tight, you must pull the door with strength and that makes the freezer move. I can live with it.

I really like this well priced Freezer. I think it is a good value thus far. We buy a lot of food from Costco and there is plenty of space to stock up on products. It's the perfect size for our space.

I also appreciate the frost free component as my teens/college aged kids during the summer will be opening it quite frequently as they stare at the food waiting for something to jump out and make itself for their lunch (do other people's kids do this too?). Now I don't have to stress about all the frost they are creating.

Overall I have been very happy. Of note, you have to give the door a good pull to open this and it will sometimes slide the unit around. I'd rather that so that I can guarantee a good seal on the door than an easy opening door that you can't trust. I also like that our grandbaby won't be able to open it. But I did see that some people complain about this. Just be aware gong in.

When I heard Best Buy was making its own lines of appliances under the insignia brand I laughed. But this freezer has so many little features and such an amazing build quality I don’t know why every other fridge and freezer don’t copy them. The build quality is amazing and you can see all the details of that when you use it. You get a welcome ding when you open it that for whatever reason is kind of nice. The light is slightly blue and nicer to look at than dim halogen or bright white led. It has WiFi features to let you know if it isn’t closed all the way or something requires your attention. But you’ll always close it all the way because of the thick rubber seals and strong magnets in the door. Best freezer I’ve ever owned hands down.

The ~14 cubic foot size is a great middle ground between the 6 cf that are not frost-free and the 20 cf that are too big. I'm not going to use the wi-fi feature - connecting your appliances to the internet just screams "hack my house, please!" (I have 2 degrees in comp sci I know what I am talking about). And WHY would you need to control your freezer from your phone ?!? Duh....

It is convertible to "refrigerator mode" which could come in handy some day....it's attractive, the glass shelves and interior light make it very easy to see everything. It is also lockable. I set the temp for zero degrees on the digital display and checked it with a stand-alone thermometer placed on the middle shelf of the unit. Zero exactly.

Can't find anything to gripe about so far....if longevity is good this is a 5-star product...

This freezer can be regulated to act as a refrigerator. The digital thermostat can be turned to a wide range of temperatures so that we can utilize it as a fridge for big parties n holidays, and a freezer for the rest of the year. It is quiet and comes in stainless to match the other appliances.

Updated review, we have had this deep freezer for 2 years and while if works fine. The door handle has broken and it is not covered by the warranty. But other than that the deep freezer works great.

This freezer has been great so far. The main reasons we chose this freezer was the front temp display, the door open alarm, and the usable interior space. When you look at other brands of deep freezers the bottom 1 or 2 shelves are 1/2 the depth of the other shelves to make room for the cooling components. When you look at this one the bottom shelf is 18", 2nd up 13" and all others 16". Because of the height, we are able to put stacked baskets inside that we can put our meats/poultry into. I took a chance and ordered this freezer because no one stocked it locally or within 300 miles of me. Delivery guys said they had only delivered 1 of these in the years they had been delivering. I think if people could see the difference in person this deep freeze would be way more popular.

Had to replace another freezer. Even though we have no kids at home, we need one that could hold a lot. I wanted storage in the door and drawers. I've had the freezer for about 2 months now. I'm very happy with it. I didn't pay that much attention to the height of it. It was taller than our previous freezer so the top shelf is difficult for this short gal to reach. So I'm using plastic tubs on that shelf as well as putting easy to grab stuff up there (ice cream tubs). I also have a hard time reaching into the top drawer. We're working around that. If I had to buy again, I'd buy one a little shorter but I think most people would be able to reach most areas easily. It makes a little bit of noise when running. Suction is really good. Delivery guys were great. Fast and efficient.

Very quiet, keeps everything frozen. And fits a lot. Upgraded from a cheesy freezer. It’s nicer now having things able to be sorted. Only draw back is the small door shelfs.

I replaced my chest freezer and this was the biggest freezer and at a good price. It went in sale days later and they refunded the difference right away. It isn’t loud like some of the reviews had said. I have it in my house. I love it wish they made a full refrigerator to go with it.

We bought the new freezer to replace a similar model that was about ten years old. The old one still worked but would freeze up more often that desired. The new one works very well and we like the outside control panel so we can verify the temp is what it needs to be. Plus, it has the alarm feature if the door is left open too long. So far so good!

Ordered this freezer after the other one quit working completely took two weeks to come in and had it delivered no issues extra freezer love it.

A week after use, one of the shelves was completely shattered. i had to call Bestbuy more than 10 times and finally they transferred me over to GE. this is a complete product failure

The handle is a very poor design and broke after 3 months of infrequent use. I have little doubt that a similar replacement handle will also break. The rest of the freezer is fine but you need the handle to get in and use it and therefore, 1 star.

Garage ready freezer with glass shelves. Replaced 23 yo Kenmore. Exterior temperature display always shows me it's maintaining the preset temperature and that the door is closed. Quiet running, bright interior light. More than enough storage space. I added a couple plastic bins for items in bags. Would highly recommend!

This freezer is the perfect size. It was at zero degrees within a few hours and is in our garage. I've had a GE previously and have been very happy. It was delivered within two weeks as promised and was set up by the delivery guys with no problems and the answers to all our questions.

Was disappointing that stores don't have this on display to see before ordering it and having it delivered to my home. I probably would not have purchased it if I new how skinny the door shelves are. I thought at least a half gallon size milk carton would fit on the shelves. I don't freeze milk, but like to freeze water in 1/2 gallon milk cartons to put in coolers. It works well, but the way it is organized is not my choice for a freezer and most of the shelves are not adjustable.

It runs so quietly and stays at just the right temperature. I like having the digital display outside so I can keep an eye on it. Also it reduces accidently adjusting it with food as I put it in. Since it is in our garage I like the piece of mind the alarm provides if something happens!

Bought because really efficient. Immediately reduced the temp in the room where it sits compared to the old (I mean old) one that was in there where we could have smoked meat. Is also smaller but fits our needs. Like the alarms and I don't know if its us or the fridge but the door didn't quite close twice and let us know before it was too late.

I cannot say enough good things about this little freezer. A dent in one of the top back corners is irrelevant. With it being just me having a 3.3 cu.ft. fridge, I needed the extra freezer space that this item provides. Not to mention even at above normal settings the food stored is frozen solid. It holds more than enough for me, and with it being bad weather at the moment holds plenty till outside gets better.

I love using this freezer because it holds my frozen foods. My apartment refrigerator has limited space so this was a great solution without taking up much space.

Our kitchen refrigerator's freezer was getting overcrowded (we were out of room!), so I began looking at a small, dedicated freezer for certain frozen foods. I wanted something relatively small that wouldn't consume a lot of space, and I liked the aesthetics of the Danby freezer. We ordered it, and had it in just a few days. It arrived on our doorstep, and we brought it in, unboxed it, and had it powered-on in short order. The hardest part of the process was unboxing the freezer. We gave it 24 hours to get to temperature (probably longer than it really needed), and it's been running strong for over a month now. If there were one thing that would make it even better, it would be some internal lighting.

So far I love this freezer; I’m so sorry I didn’t buy it sooner. It’s the perfect size for a one or two person household and It’s nearly silent in operation. I placed a thermometer inside and consistently get -5F temp. This upright model makes everything so easy to find and it’s got a generous 5 year warranty and coldness selection dial. Some things to be aware of: the cooling coils are built into the bottoms of the shelves. This really keeps the foods frozen but does not allow the shelves to be adjusted. It’s not frost free so you will need to defrost it once or twice a year depending on how much you open and close it. Manual defrost is actually better in my opinion because unlike frost free it has no blower motor and is so quiet; also because it doesn’t go thru automatic defrost cycles, ice crystals barely form on your foods. Perhaps the only minor annoyance is that there is no interior light. It’s a small freezer but the addition of a bright LED bulb inside would still have been a nice touch.

Details given me in the ordering process were false. The item was shipped several days early, without checking whether we were ready or wanted it early. It was placed on the sidewalk in front of the entrance after dark. I then learned no installation would occur although I had specifically been told (check your recordings) after I directly asked, was told everything would be "set up and running" when delivery was done. My wife and I, (both aged 90s) managed to wrangle the freezer into our entry to prevent it possibly being stolen during the night.

Purchased this Freezer through the Best Buy Website. It had all the particulars I needed to know about the Freezer and it included Free Shipping and the price was just right. I am totally happy and very satisfied with my purchase and being short in height the Upright Model is just right for me. No bending over to dig up what's in the bottom. My concern was falling into the freezer & since I live by myself, I'd be in trouble. I know this sounds funny but there's always the possibility with us short people. The freezer is working just fine; just the right size, works great, am totally satisfied it & am in love with my new Freezer. Thank you Best Buys for always having what I need.

I bought the whirlpool sidekicks all refrigerator and all-freezer pair in August of 2008. Since i'm on my third fridge which is now broken too. I will be buying my forth fridge since 2008. It just stops cooling after about two years (coolant leak which is not fixable). Same with all of them. The freezer has been great, however you have to keep getting the same fridge if you want it to match the freezer. Now I'm going to bite the bullet and switch brands and buy a new fridge and freezer. I will never buy whirlpool again.

Lots of organized shelves with adequate storage space for an upright freezer. Door had great shelves and this freezer fits well in the area we had.

I bought the side kick refrigerator and freezer in May of 2015 the first refrigerator broke and I bought a second one in may 2019 which is now broke and I am waiting for Whirlpool repairman to fix if it can be fixed. DO NOT BUY IT, THEY ARE TERRIBLE.

We didn't buy this for a garage, but for a Florida/3 season room. This is amazing! We had a regular fridge and a chest freezer in there and it wasn't properly utilized space at all. When the freezer in the fridge started going I said I wanted a fridge with out a freezer built in, and a stand up freezer since so many things get lost in the bottom of the chest freezer. Little did I know they are SO EXPENSIVE, for something that is in a room that isnt' even heated or ac? Then I found this and I was instantly in love. Took a while for it to be in stock but it was worth the wait. We bought the fridge and the freezer, and I love that when your hands are full just press the step and the door opens! If you get both units, you will fall in love with the inside door bottom metal bin in the fridge. A bit of advice, if you contact Whirlpool, you can order an extra one of those and it fits perfectly in the freezer. you can easily double the space of the lower door shelf that way!

Really cool freezer (no pun intended!) and looks great in the garage! Perfect storage options. A pain to put together, so make sure you have a professional install (I borrowed our handyman to do it and he struggled a bit).

Foot-opening door gimmick is poorly implemented, causing the freezer to open spontaneously and allowing all your frozen food to spoil. I contacted Frigidaire about this, and the customer service person advised me to partially disassemble the foot actuator and leave it that way to prevent it opening by itself (meaning they already know this problem exists). I followed his instructions, and the foot pedal still causes the freezer to open by itself. JUNK. DO NOT BUY.

Worst design ever. door shelves aretooc narrow to hold any thing except may a pan cake thick package. Shelves are nor removable and not high enough to hold a art of ice cream worst purchase ever

It very stylish and slender and it works just fine. My only issue is it states not to put ice cream (and something else but I cannot recall right off) on the top shelf or the door shelves because those shelves are reserved for "soft freeze". Hummm

Another issue, which I take responsibility for is the shelves are shallow. So that slender style you pay for in lost shelf space.

Sleek, Small, slim to fit easily in kitchen (not garage), but Could have included a LED temp & clock display gage & light inside for convenience at night. Priced a $499 it could be a bit cheaper since a full size basic fridge or box freezers are priced about the same.

Although small it is a perfect size for my wife and I. We don’t have to worry about food sitting in the freezer for a year because all of the food is visible. However, don’t plan to store a lot of meat. The shelves are too close together and not adjustable. But it fits perfectly in the garage, is energy efficient and frost free. Plus, I have never had a problem with LG appliances.

We purchased this unit (Model DUFM085A4BSLDD 8.5 Upright Designer) through Best Buy and the unit arrived directly from Danby with a repair to the interior white panel near where the door seals (a dent with two small punctures that were covered with a putty material). The door is sealing but we are concerned about the longevity of the repair and sealing of the door. We have contacted Best Buy and they are attempting to replace the unit but it has been over 30 days and Best Buy is now looking to refunding our money. We like the unit but just concerned.

Save yourself the headache and avoid Maytag and Whirlpool at all costs. We bought this freezer and loved it at first. Once a year passed, it promptly broke. Maytag/Whirlpool was a nightmare to deal with. They do not value their customers. Just navigating their automated customer service number is like a trip to hell. The freezer was fixed. A year later, it broke again. My food is up and down the street with neighbors while Maytag tries to pretend I don't have a 10-year warranty (which is only on the compressor). Avoid Maytag and Whirlpool at all costs.

The size was perfect for our needs. Plugged it in, filled with with our food. Next morning everything was covered in ice. Gave it a few days and the ice grew so much we could have made a snowman. Extremely disappointed and dissatisfied. Took it back to the store for a refund. Poor design, lacks proper seals around the door. Don’t waste your time or money.

This is the quietest appliance of any fridge or freezer I have ever lived with. Very solidly built with very secure door but not too heavy!

Didn't even have it a month and it went out. Its under warranty so they were willing to send a technician out to fix it. Parts needed to be ordered so as of today, its still not fixed! They offered a 200 gift card as a supposedly courtesy when I had over 200 dollars worth of groceries in the freezer when it went out (even have the receipts to prove, along with photos)! If you buy make sure to only keep less than 200 worth of food in the freezer in the event it stops working! Hopefully once the parts are in and its fixed, it will work longer than a month. Probably will never fill it again because I spent over a 1000 for the freezer (extended warranty included) and lost hundreds in food (had just went to sams, grocery store and meat market) - so basically spent money to lose money... might I add during a pandemic!

This item broke within 6 months of purchase. Bad control board. Found an appliance repairman who fixed this under warranty.

The open box freezer that I purchased was perfect for our home. I like that it holds alot of food and I can keep it organized. It stays really cold without ice building up on the sides.

I bought the Frigidaire upright freezer 20.2 so not this exact one but the model before. I had the freezer go out twice! The first time it was 90% full of wild game! The other 10% would've been whole farm fresh chickens. The second time was store bought food but still a ton of money. I just found out yesterday BB is replacing the freezer due to not being economical to keep working on it.

Unit was delivered on schedule. Works great and has a lot of room. Only issue with it is that owning the door causes the unit to roll forward. Would be great if you could lower it down to sit on the floor or maybe lock the wheels

While this was the perfect size for the space we had, the freezer came dented in three separate places. Very disappointed in the handling and delivery of this item.
