Thing rocks!! Connects my second monitor to my iMac 27 home studio. Best Buy Newington,NH has the best associates.Apr 16, 2021 16:26
I got this adapter to use with my laptop and cell phone then collage to a smart board. It was great and easy to use. I didn't have a document camera at the time so this adapter allowed me to use my Note20 with stylus.Nov 20, 2021 07:05
A friend of mine was connecting his iPhone to the TV and I was shocked. Then he told me about this device that would simply connect the two. I had to get an HDMI cord and this adapter. It worked like a dream. And it was super easy for someone like myself that doesn’t have a tech background. Highly recommend.Oct 20, 2021 06:06
As a teacher, I really wanted to be able to use my iPad to display things and be able to use my Apple Pencil to write and circle things. This connects perfectly and I've never had any issues with it.Nov 05, 2021 16:30
I bought this adapter for my laptop and it works fine with my big screen. Now I enjoy watching movies and internet searches in a big screenNov 20, 2021 09:47
My laptop lacks the ports I need to connect to my older digital projector. By using this interface I am able to easily show my power points on the projector without a hitch.Oct 29, 2021 19:10
I bought this item but have never used it. But if I did use it I'm sure it would work. Or maybe it wouldn't and I just wasted money.Nov 12, 2021 06:51
Needed to connect a smartphone to a smart tv. Works flawlessly. Will need a separate cable as well.Nov 19, 2021 16:18
Connect a MacBook, Chromebook or laptop with a USB-C port to a TV, monitor, projector or other display with the Platinum USB-C-to-HDMI Cable. The cable is easy to connect, supports resolutions up to 4K and is 6ft long. The anodized aluminum housing ensures durability while providing a sophisticated appearance.
I purchased this for a Mac mini that only has one hdmi port. The Mac mini has two usb c/thunderbolt ports. I purchased a hub that used one of the usb c ports. The hub was basically being used for an additional hdmi port that could extend the display and an additional USB port. The hub took up unnecessary space and was awkward dangling form the back. So I bought this cable in order to get rid of that hub. It was important that the cable was capable of extending the display to a second monitor. It worked perfectly.
The quality of the cable can be readily felt. Holding it in your hands, it feels hefty and slightly stiff; not flimsy at all. I got this on sale, but I would buy it at regular price. It looks like it will last a good long while. (The second monitor I am using is a 29" LG Ultrawide with 1080i so I cannot evaluate the quality of the 4K, bu the clarity and colors are as good as they were before with an HDMI to HDMI cable.)Oct 13, 2021 21:56
I ordered this hoping it would be compatible with my 2018 model iPad Pro with USB-C. The packaging does not specifically mention compatibility with iPads, but I'm happy to report that it works perfectly! On top of that, it's actually a very sturdy and high-quality cable.
- Works with new iPad Pro models.
- Works with my MacBook Air and Windows laptop with USB-C.
- Outputs 4K resolution and audio perfectly to my 4K UHD TV.
- Long, 6-foot cable allows you to control your device at a distance from your projector/monitor.
- The cable itself seems very durable and should last quite a while.
- The HDMI side of the cable is on the bulky side, and some users might have difficulty fitting the connector into tight spaces on monitors or TVs. The HDMI connector is also quite wide and might block adjacent ports.
The cable works perfectly for my use cases. Just be aware of the slightly bulky HDMI connector -- though I suspect you are going to find this on pretty much every USB to HDMI adapter. Recommended!Oct 01, 2019 16:17
Purchased for use with my Samsung note 9. Works perfectly.May 08, 2020 00:45
This cable works great for my Pixelbook. Love the laptop but it's small screen isn't geared for work related tasks. With this cable, I can easily hook up any monitor now. Also works great for streaming Netflix too. The cable seems pretty sturdy and well made. The HDMI connection is metal and fits into the HDMI slot pretty well. Overall, seems like a great cable and works great too.Sep 30, 2019 18:59
This cord is exceptionally made, built of aluminum and rubber materials that would rival many options in the space. It has a thick cord that is sometimes too stiff but that could change with more use after "break-in". It follows the design language of the major competitors with white and aluminum as their color palette. The anodized aluminum housing gives the cable sophisticated appearance and the construction is not in doubt. In short, you just plug this in to your device (if OS and device supports it), and plug the other side into a display and it works. This should get many looks as it performs on par with other cords I have and use daily just with a cheaper price point. This is a BUY.Oct 01, 2019 06:26
I needed a cable for work to connect various devices to my projector. Most of those devices now have USB-C ports so my old VGA cables/adapters weren’t really cutting it anymore. Tested this out, on my laptop, iPad, and phone; worked without a hitch.
The cable looks pretty durable, I’ve only had it a couple of weeks so far so kinda early to tell, but I expect it should last me for a while.
Over all very happy with this. Only thing I wish is that maybe it would have come with a carrying bag/pouch. Maybe I just need to invest in a good cables storage.Oct 07, 2019 16:07
Great cable to have on hand if you're like me and use an ultrabook that lacks an HDMI port. Cable is 6' long and handled whatever output I threw at it. I Hooked it up to both a 4k TV and a 2k monitor without issue. Construction is solid and nothing feels cheap. Supports video and audio... 'nuff said! Great cable!Oct 17, 2019 23:45
4K/UHD Video Transmission, Premium High Quality Build, Attractive Aluminum Finish, Limited Lifetime Warranty
---DESIGN AND USE---
This cable is designed to transmit audio and video signals from USB-C devices to displays with HDMI inputs. It will work with any USB-C device that can output video over USB-C.
It is rated to carry video signals up to 4K UHD.
These cables are very sturdy, and it is readily apparent that they were manufactured with quality in mind. I am expecting many many years of trouble free use. It carries a limited lifetime warranty, but considering how tough theses cables appear, I can't see them breaking under normal use. I think it would take quite a bit of abuse for them to break.
The HDMI side of the cable has a wide footprint that may not fit all inputs. This is something to be aware of, but It should not be an issue except in all but the narrowest of input locations.
USB-C is transitioning into the new universal standard interface. With many compact laptops no longer having a HDMI output, this cable is a must have if you need to connect your device to an HDMI display.Oct 02, 2019 17:49
Connect this Microsoft USB-C to HDMI adapter to your Microsoft Surface Book 2 (not included), and stream video or share photos on your HDTV or external computer monitor. This adapter supports Nvidia and AMD Eyefinity devices, and it connects effortlessly to your HDMI 2.0-compatible electronic components. Featuring a short, flexible cord, this Microsoft USB-C to HDMI adapter lets you situate external devices close to your Microsoft Surface Book 2.
Works perfectly. The only real thing to consider is that you don’t really need the dongle if you just get the cord. Great product though.Sep 04, 2021 14:10
Works perfectly fine with my Surface Book 3. So glad I spent the extra money but wasted more trying to go the cheaper route. Worked seamlessly.Aug 29, 2021 19:50
Works perfect with my Surface Book 3! Since both products are from Microsoft, the driver was recognized instantly and connection is fast! A little pricey for what it does, but I rest easy knowing that connection speed, data transmission, and picture quality is optimized for Microsoft products.May 10, 2021 22:50
Genuine Microsoft quality product at a good price.Oct 16, 2021 07:09
This is a great accessory for my computer.
I would highly recommend this to anyone.Aug 13, 2021 21:26
100% plug amd play, does exactly what it says it will do.Aug 02, 2021 20:42
No problems, works perfectly. Snug fit and flexible cord.May 28, 2021 16:13
Tried to get the less expensive brand but doesn't work with the Surface. This one works great and have no issues with it. Sometimes it just works better to pay a little more for an adapter that will just keep working.Sep 26, 2020 10:59
Connect your MacBook®, tablet, PC and laptops with a USB-C™ port to an external monitor, HDTV, projector or other display device using an HDMI™ input. The 6-foot length cable makes it easy to extend your display to an additional monitor, TV, or projector.
If possible find a cable that has the ability to take the weight off the USB-C PORT on the laptop. ,. something rest on the table , or velcro the laptop.
I have the fear of damaging the port/Jul 19, 2019 15:47
Zooming on a 13" can get tiresome, so I had a 22" monitor in my garage. I set it up..boom! Except, I needed a type c to HDMI connection. Ordered it and it arrived in less than a week!May 15, 2020 16:27
Upon upgrading my home office setup, my Dell thunderbolt t16 crapped out. This cord worked perfectly to support the second external monitor and was significantly cheaper than buying another bulky and unnecessary dock.Aug 21, 2020 08:11
So, for christmas my dad bought me this cable and it didn't work at all. I went back and exchanged it for a new one no problem. It's a quality cable and brings up Samsung dex and scrren mirroring on the Note 9 perfectly everytime now. It's really worth the money because it has great 4k quality and it's a pretty good length.Jan 06, 2019 09:06
That "other" store sells similar products even this same one a little bit cheaper. In any case, this cable works as promised. It basically "mirrors" what is on your phone's screen. Once a movie is playing it switches it to match the TV size. But phone screen mirroring, then it keeps the screen in portrait with black bars on either side. I am assuming that this is how they do video screen captures on some of those YouTube videos. There is no way to turn off my phone's screen while it is mirroring on a TV monitor (so I had to turn my screen side down), If watching a movie, the phone screen stays on and therefore will make your phone (and cord) hot. So be careful on long movies. Cord does not charge your phone when screen mirroring. And in order to get really good HD quality for broadcasts on your TV monitor, your phone's image quality needs to be amped up to its highest HD setting (mine is WQHD+) then it will come across as 1080p. Otherwise, it'll be more like 720p even 480p. Overall this cord is awesome.Jan 18, 2019 17:45
I was told by multiple sources I needed to but the official Samsung cord to stream from my phone to my tv.
After speaking with a best buy employee he assured me this cord would work for streaming with no issues. He was correct and I have had no issues with streaming using the j5create cable.
I live in the country and can not get wifi so this cable is great for me to watch things on my tv.Aug 24, 2019 10:49
My previous company laptop has one HDMI and one mini-display port. Then, I could use the dual monitors when I work at home. Later I received a new company laptop, but this one has only one HDMI and one type C. In the office, the company provided the dedicated docking station through type C to use the dual display, but I could not bring this docking station home every day.
I checked any possible way to use the dual display at home, and found some type C adapter to provide dual display port, but mostly they have one HDMI + one VGA.
I asked the company IT guy about the compatibility of this third-party type C adapter, but he could not verify it.
Later, I found this product and tried it out; it works perfectly as I expected. Now I can use the dual monitors, one with HDMI and the other one with this cable. And cheaper than any type C adapter.
If you are looking for the connection to the dual display, you have to consider this.Nov 09, 2019 19:43
I went in looking for an HDMI adapter and a separate cable but the BBG (Best Buy guy) showed me this instead. I'm really happy with this dedicated j5 cable. It's much better than separates. And the 6" length is perfect. No issue with lost transmission at that length. It's has worked perfectly so far. I'm checking out other j5 products now since I'm pretty impressed with the quality. I had never heard of them before. How excited can you get about cables!? Must be the coffee! ; )Aug 30, 2021 11:53

When they sell products that are already open, check that they are in good condition to sell them again, since the hdmi cable came out in bad condition.Oct 29, 2021 16:59
Not much to be said here. Purchased these along with a Surface Dock 2 for my Microsoft Surface Pro 6. These work exactly as expected and I couldn't ask for more!
I tested one of these cables on my Dell Inspiron 7306 2n1 as well as my Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and confirmed that both also function as HDMI over USB-C.Jun 16, 2021 16:06
I plugged one end into my computer and the other end into my monitor. That then brought the image from my computer to the monitor as intended.Apr 17, 2021 16:35
I bought this for whenever I travel and my hotel doesn't have a smart TV. I'll just connect the USB-C to my MacBook and the HDMI to the TV in my room and watch whatever I want! It is so convenient and I highly recommend getting one of these as more and more tech products shift to USB-C.Jun 03, 2021 14:42
Being of short distance, there were no problems. As with all connectors, just need to watch how youre usong it. Leave some slack, nothing heavy pulling on the cable, ajd secure it if possible to prevent accidental damage.Nov 20, 2021 17:47
Excellent cable for hooking up cell phone with USB-C to a larger monitor when needed. A lot of times when I need a bigger screen when using my cell phone a lot this cable comes in handy, I use this cable to hook up to a TV or computer monitor. Comes in handy when needed.Oct 25, 2021 22:18
Nice quality cable. I use it for charging my oneXplayer and oculus.some of these longer cables are stiff and kinda twist awkwardly when rolled up. This one not so much. I carry it in a small case and it’s great.Nov 08, 2021 00:52
We needed this to connect a Microsoft Surface Pro to a projector for a presentation. The video over the USB to USB connection was jittery. This cable allowed us to get the video to play smoothly.Nov 12, 2021 16:04
Connect a MacBook, laptop or PC to any external display device equipped with an HDMI input with this USB Type-C 4K HDMI display adapter. The cable is easy to connect and requires no software. This USB Type-C 4K HDMI display adapter requires a graphics card or other video source that supports DisplayPort v1.2 technology.
This adapter was exactly what I needed to connect another monitor to my work at home baseNov 16, 2021 08:07
Pretty simple and easy to use, I wanted to run two different screens off of my laptop (three including my laptop) but it only has one HDMI port but had a USB-C port so I bought this, now I have three different screens and it makes multitasking much easier.May 29, 2020 16:06
Works well enough to extend either my MacBook Pro or my USB-C-only Asus Chromebook to an external monitor which, in my case, is a Sony Playstation 3D monitor...I just think it's a bit overpriced at 30 dollars though...one coulda just both a straight up USB-C/HDMI combo cable that starts at 15-20 bucks.Oct 11, 2020 09:42
I needed this adapter to be able to use my new monitor. Thank you to the person who helped me know what I needed and helped me find it. All I had to do was connect my new monitor to my computer using this adapter.Dec 27, 2020 23:22
I learned a little more about different HDMI and Display Port standards after I purchased this and subsequently returned it. I needed this to use the USB-C/Virtual Link port on my new video card. For the most part, standard 4K video worked. However, when I enabled Dolby Atmos audio and HDR it is not supportable. This is because it is only a Display Port 1.2 and those features are more for DP version 1.4. I attempted this with my Oculus Rift as well and continued to get flickering, which is not good for VR. If you are simply trying to output video and audio from USB-C device to a display up to 4K, this works fine. If you are looking for something to push current technical high end capabilities, this will not work.Dec 07, 2018 13:53
Just what I needed. I purchased a new display monitor and my new work computer did not have the right port to plug in the external monitor. This adaptor came to the rescue! Just what I needed to allow me to display my zoom calls on my larger external monitor. No noticable loss in color or resolution and not much delay before the image displays once I turn on my laptop.
The perfect buy for my needs, at the time. Not the cheapest adaptor, but sometimes you have to pay to play.
I would purchase this product again if needed in the future.Aug 22, 2021 08:21
Been searching around for a proper UHD HDMI dongle and found a few but they all were capped at 30Hz. If you can get it for $40 or less it’s a decent deal but I haven’t had any issues arise from it for over a month. If you’re looking for a USC C to HDMI adapter and need 4K at 60Hz, don’t assume it’ll run at 60Hz. If a product description doesn’t specifically say 4K 60Hz, it’s only 30Hz.Aug 30, 2019 16:43
This is an excellent product. Whenever I have a device that can't recognize a computer attached to it through the hdmi port on the computer, I can have a user connect through this converter and then the device can recognize the computer connected to it. It's weird, but sometimes the hdmi ports just act up. This device is a handy back up.Oct 06, 2021 09:59
Stream audio and video with this black Belkin USB-C to HDMI adapter and charger. The USB-C port connector delivers up to 60W for ultra-fast device charging, while the plug-and-play design offers hassle-free use. This Belkin USB-C to HDMI adapter and charger supports 4K resolution at 60Hz for transmitting clear, detailed visuals.
Overall, a convenient way to expand your mobile device with a bigger screen where wireless connectivity is not available (or not desired). You can expand your USB-C laptop with a 4k screen, and you can expand your phones to a 4k screen while also being able to charge them.
- Favorable: video quality as promised, at 4k resolution video looks outstanding (well depending also on the device graphics capabilities). Charging option for your phone a plus.
- Not-so-favorable: this is no inherently to the device, but your mobile device should be able to output HDMI through USB-C.
>> One setup/configuration ideal for this device
After trying different scenarios/configurations, I see that one that would use the full features of the Belkin USB-C to HDMI/Charge is when the user uses their phone as the primary mobile device (i.e. phone dependent person) and wants to see some of their favorite shows while doing something else. For example, my wife usually follows cooking shows on her cell phone in the kitchen while doing pastries and others, and sometimes wishes she had a bigger screen phone; then the Belkin USB-C to HDMI/Charger came to the rescue, now she can have a TV near the counter (or anywhere in the kitchen) and she can follow her shows on the bigger screen and also is able to respond to her messages on her phone without running out of battery (by connecting to a power source).
>> Devices tried
I tried the Belkin device with multiple portable USB-C devices:
- Surface Tablet: I tried video capabilities using a 4k monitor, video quality just outstanding.
- Huawei P20: I tried video and charging capabilities with a 4K TV. The Belkin ended up as the perfect peripheral for the Huawei P20, the picture quality delivered was great, audio outstanding, charging with no issues, and software support just perfect. I could use the control pad to control the screen, or I could be using other apps in the small phone screen while there would be video showing on the bigger screen (very neat).
- Lumia 950XL (yes a Windows Phone): I tried video and charging using a 4k monitor and 4k TV. Video looked as good as the source device would produce, so it wasn’t that great the end result on the 4k screens, but still a great improvement to have a bigger surface. though. Charging didn’t work as expected, I had to have the power connected and then restart the Lumia for it to start charging, otherwise it wouldn’t charge.
- Sony Experia XZ2: wouldn’t work at all, it wouldn’t charge nor would output any video. There was no way to change the settings, even updating to the latest Android version and updating the Sony software. Then I learnt that it cannot output HDMI from the USB-C, so the Belkin USB-C to HDMI/Charger was useless for the device (or vice-versa).
The device is said to be Thunderbolt 3 compatible. I haven’t tested that capability as I don’t own devices with such ports.Jul 15, 2020 16:48
Had very good previous experience with Belkin products and this adapter is as good as it gets.
The adapter supports HDMI up to 4K x 60 Hz and USB-C power delivery (60 Watts).
I'm using it on my work MacBook with Thunderbolt 3 connection, and I'm able to drive a 16:10 monitor with perfect image and sound while at the same time charging it (Using only one port on the computer).
I also used it with a 4K TV, also with seamless results. The computer is able to detect the TV capabilities (resolution, size), i.e. EDID information, so the adapter is able to perform 2-way communications.
Power delivery works with up to 60 Watts.
Also used it with a Dell PC that has an USB-C display port and worked jus fine with this adapter as well.
It should also work with iPad Pros that have an USB-C connector for display out while charging.
If I have to pick something on this is that it's shell is shiny plastic which attracts fingerprints. Not a real issue.
The adapter is well constructed, with a warranty from Belkin for 2 years.Jul 08, 2020 23:17
New devices are getting slimmer and more streamlined but sometimes that means that we are losing some of the ports that we might need. One of these ports that many of the ultra-books out on the market seem to be doing without is the HDMI or VGA ports. The VGA is something that is not super required now, but HDMI is still something that comes in handy when you are trying to make the most out of a home office supported by your laptop.
This adapter does a great job of giving me that added HDMI port from the USB-C port on my laptop. It allows me to connect to an external monitor at home, and my projector once we can return to our office setting. I like that it still allows you to plug in a USB-C charger if your device supports it. This comes in handy when your device has limited USB-C ports.
A simple, effective adapter that helps to extend my digital workspace. The only thing that I would add is that this adapter supports up to 60Hz refresh rate so if your device and monitor support higher, just keep this in mind. The refresh rate should not affect most folks just looking at doing some work in email, MS Office, or web browsers. An easy recommendation for anyone looking for a simple USB-C to HDMI adapter.Jul 12, 2020 15:41
I got this Belkin - USB Type C-to-HDMI/USB Type C Cable - Black so that I can connect my laptop to another monitor, while I work. I struggled, because I did not have an HDMI connection on my computer, so I had to find something to allow me to use another monitor while working from home. To the rescue, is the USB Type C adapter, where I can plug my large monitor into my new device. it supports 4K resolution, so no degradation here. It says it is compatible with either Mac or PC, but I only used it on my Windows device. Since it is occupying the USB Type C plug on the computer, I can plug something else into this device too, because it has an additional USB Type C female input as well. It is a 60 watt Pass through power connection.Jul 17, 2020 17:22
This dongle works as designed. I was able to connect it to the USB-C port on my Samsung Galaxy S10 phone, 10-inch Galaxy S4 tablet, and 15-inch Dell laptop (see pics). With the use of an HDMI cable (not included), I was able to display all three devices on my TV. And because the dongle has an additional USB-C port for charging, I was able to charge the device while presenting.
Charging is accomplished by using the charging adapter and USB-C cable that came with your device. So instead of plugging the cable directly into your device, you plug it into the dongle, then plug the dongle into your device. There are plenty of after market chargers out there that can be used to charge your devices, but keep in mind that the dongle allows up to 60-watts of power to pass through it. Meaning, it can easily keep your Andriod phone and iPhone charged, as well as an Andriod tablet and iPad, and many laptops that require 60 watts or fewer. The notable exceptions are the latest MacBook Pros laptops that come with an 87-watt charger, as well as power-hungry gaming PCs. While a 60-watt charger can charge a MacBook pro, it may not be enough to power it properly when in use. There is a chance that the device will continue to drain, albeit slower, if your running resource intensive programs. Still, it won’t stop you from using the dongle to output your display to an external monitor, TV, or projector.
This is a quality accessory with the added bonus of powering your device up to 60-watts. On top of that, it can also handle 4K video.
And just in case anyone is wondering, it cannot be used with a Nintendo Switch. It wasn’t designed for that. I tested it on my Switch just to double check, and the Switch wouldn’t recognize the dongle, therefor it didn’t send a video signal to my TV. The dongle was designed for laptop computers, tablets, and phones with a USB-C connection. Just make sure your device is designed to output video through it’s USB-C connection.Jul 11, 2020 21:22
Works awesome with HTMI cable and Mac book pro charging port.Sep 28, 2021 12:06
The HDMI adapter works well with my Samsung S20+5G phone. The only issue I had was the little trick about the charging cable. The adapter seems to work without it, and the phone detects the adapter right away. The phone went into Samsung Dex mode so I could use the TV screen and phone more like a PC and a mouse. However when I tried to view a video on Netflix or Amazon, it would only work for a a few seconds and then quit with some error. Turns out, once I plugged in the power cord to the Adapter, all the errors stopped and it works great. So that power input is not just to charge your phone. It makes the adapter work properly as well.Oct 08, 2021 15:49
This usb c to hdmi cable is excellent. I use it on a 2016 Macbook pro to share the display to an external monitor with wireless keyboard and mouse. It allows you to charge your computer and share HDMI feed through just one us-c port.Jan 03, 2021 19:55
Expand your laptop's connection port with this Insignia USB Type-C multi-port adapter. It has an HDMI port for transmitting 4K content to your external monitor and can also charge other devices with its 60W output. This Insignia USB Type-C multi-port adapter also has a Type-A output for syncing various devices.
Cheaper than the apple equivalent I was apprehensive about purchasing but after reading the reviews I decided to take a chance. I am a DJ and it is critical that my 2017 touchbar MacBook Pro work with no room for error! I am happy to report It works perfectly and I am super happy with my purchase.Dec 15, 2017 16:20

I bought a new apple laptop and unfortunately it does not have the USB ports like the older versions. That is why I had to buy this product.Apr 20, 2019 20:01
This is a nice way to allow me to connect my new laptop to other devices and to charge my phone and to attach a flash drive as needed. It's an inexpensive solution to the problem of not having ports on the laptop.Oct 26, 2018 18:25
TL; DR: If you are trying to decide on whether to buy this dongle or the pricy Apple-branded version, I have both. The quality difference is noticeable both in function and build. This product, while functional, exemplifies that axiom: "You get what you pay for"
I bought this as a "need it now" purchase, and when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Apple stores were closed, online was going to take 1-2 days, AP didn't have any in stock--you get the idea. Kudos to BBY for having this one in stock, it really came through in a pinch. A+
I already have the the Apple-branded equivalents (i.e., Multiport HDMI and VGA Multiports) for other setups in our home so I at least have a baseline to compare this Insignia model to having used it for about two months.
Having it in your hand, you can feel the difference in build quality immediately. The Apple version feels solid, firm, and well-made; this one feels cheap. The Insignia casing feels very hollow and does not feel like it will survive too long, especially if it's being shuttled between rooms, projectors, TVs, etc. I would only recommend this dongle if it was used only in a stationary location (e.g., Living Room TV) and not being routinely unplug/replugged. Candidly, the Apple-branded version of this dongle is nearly twice the price yet the build quality may be worth it.
The labelling is peculiar. All the ports are upside down (cf. product image) yet on the bottom, all the ports are labelled. Whoever designed this adapter should have had the ports turned rightside-up so this smells like a last-minute "oops" when they sent it to manufacturing. [The Apple variant does not share this peculiarity.]
Functionality, the Insignia model is OK/FAIR; it displays well on the 1080p HP screen I bought with it and there are no issues with video quality, color, etc.
USB 3.0 functionality is fine until you decide to unplug something, the dongle will often drop the HDMI connection entirely; most times it recovers, sometimes it does not. [Meanwhile, the Apple-branded version does not share this issue at all.]
If you plug in something that uses power/data (e.g., iPhone), it is a tad noisy (e.g., capacitors) so you'll hear the screeching of capacitors while it's humming along with data and power. If you are recording in a sound-sensitive environment, the noise may be a concern. [The Apple-branded versions are always dead-silent.]
Data goes through fine and power is applied without any problems. I haven't run a speed test or anything but functionality, thus far, appears to be OK.
The HDMI physical connection is far less forgiving than the Apple-branded equivalent. On the Apple dongle, the cable slides right in, and is otherwise uneventful; however, on this Insignia model, it has to be slid in perfectly straight otherwise the cable will not go in all the way. [I can't decide if this was a design compromise for the price or an outright flaw; the upside-down ports lead me to think it's the latter.]
Power "pass-through" is only ~60W but if you unplug or lose power, the dongle will drop all of your connections (e.g., HDD, Video, etc.). [As you guessed, the Apple-branded model does not have this issue.]
For what I need it for, a simple HDMI adapter with an occasional USB device attached, it's works OK so long as it's not being asked to do very much.
By comparison to the Apple-branded equivalent, the design and functional compromises may or may not be a concern for some. In hindsight, had the Apple-branded dongle been in stock, I would have skipped this one and bought that one instead. I would not use this dongle outside the house or with any external data storage devices that were mission critical (e.g., Time Machine, large data transfers, etc.) given how temperamental it is to power delivery.Sep 16, 2020 13:26
Great accessory for the MacBook. This little device has USB 2.0/3.0 port, 4K HDMI port and a USB C port for charging and accessories. It’s compact, lightweight and easy to use. Plug-and-play.Jun 22, 2018 22:05
Works with my MacBook Pro with Wacom & canon scanner (USB) it does not work on my Samsung monitor (HDMI) . For the price is it worth it.Sep 20, 2021 00:23
it works great and is extremely handy.
the only things I would change
Make it 1/8-1/4 wider. Sometimes the stuff I want to plug in are a little too big and they push against each other.
The other thing is if could pass a little more power to the ports. I've ran into things not working because there wasn't enough power getting to it.
And maybe reinforce the cable at either end. I can see the strain from use wearing connections out.Sep 17, 2021 20:06
Seamlessly connect your Apple® MacBook® or Chromebook to a TV, monitor or projector with this Insignia™ NS-PU369CH-WH 4" USB Type-C-to-HDMI adapter, which features a USB Type-C connector and supports up to 1080p and Ultra HD 4K x 2K resolution.
It gets a little warm and of course your battery drains fairly quick using it, but it works great.Jun 12, 2020 15:53

Works really great. The only issue is that it gets really hot at times. I eventually bought an USB-C to HDMI. I use this adapter sparingly now whenever I need a third monitor. No lag or anything.Nov 05, 2021 15:27
Allows the HDMI hook-up on a MacBook. The connector allows a high definition picture and is an easy connection to setup.Apr 17, 2020 15:56
This did exactly what I wanted it to do. Used it to stream my phone to my tv for video chats. Problem is, your phone wont charge as you use it. So I'd advise buying the same exact 1, but has an extra port to charge AS you use it. And its actually cheaper than buying this 1. This 1 is only good for using about a hour or so. Returned it, and bought the 1 that charges at the same time.Apr 27, 2020 14:08
But the store and the pandemic for my son to use his chrome book on the television. This helps exponentially to be able to see teachers work on blackboard and whiteboards. I highly suggest anyone who is homeschooling or has issues with seeing on small screens to pick one up.Jun 26, 2021 06:20
