I replaced an old pair of IC’s with these Helos to match my Motion 40’s. Originally, I wanted to get some satellites, but learned the tweeter on these could be directionally adjusted. I decided to use this pair as my left and right surround channels. I immediately noticed how natural and 360 the sound was! I was highly impressed and it blew away most of the doubts I had about using IC’s as part of my 5.2 set up. The last pair of IC’s were in the same ball park number (as far as price and quality), but these blew them away instantly. I have to say Martin Logan keeps delivering!

These speakers are dope I paired them with my sonos amp to complete a surround sound setup with the sonos playbar , I didn’t want the sonos one to be plugged in and in the way so I went with these flush mount ceiling speakers instead they sound good paired with the sound bar

Purchase two pairs of these for my left and right fronts and rears for home entertainment.

My husband is in retail sales and we know how a bad or poor rating will effect employees and companies therefore we won’t give a 1 star. We are so disappointed and today is 8 days later after installation. I absolutely hate giving this a poor rating but I do not know what else to do to get a straight answer. We had our equipment installed August 6th. The Geek squad who installed the equipment were great, professional and friendly but we did not get all the equipment and 2 of the other outside speakers will not play. I spoke with Michael Howarth he said Scott Evers was on vacation and he would try and email him as to when the original guy Another Michael Koen would get our part. Have not heard back from anyone. I called 2 other times. My husband called the number 3x’s and have not heard back from anyone. The picture on Our living room television just goes off all the time but the sound still plays. We are 100% frustrated and disappointed because of the lack of communication. My husband paid way too much for this set up to have these problems and not have all the equipment installed or working all the time! All the in person interaction has been great but the follow up has us regretting this investment! Maybe now we WILL get resolution!

Purchased these to replace to large floor standing Energy speakers. These have great sound for any home theater experience. Perfect compliment to an Atmos system. A subwoofer is definitely recommended to get the deep lows but great clarity and volume for the size. Wanted something with excellent quality that provides large speaker sound without the large speaker footprint. Speakers no longer need to be your decorating focus in a high end theater.

This is a must buy for your Sonos setup. Yes it’s expensive but worth it for what you’re getting. Adding the sub made a massive difference to my home theater system. Originally purchased the Sonos Arc, then added the ones as surrounds and lastly the sub. The sub opens up and completes the system. The sub not only takes over the lows but will also improve the sound of the arc by it taking over the mids/highs. The bass is tight and accurate and will undoubtedly shake your room. Adds a dramatic effect to your movie watching experience. If you’re planning on/already purchased the Arc, do yourself a favor and add the sub you won’t be disappointed.

Sonos Arc is so amazing. Add the sub and some rears and it adds even more magic. Felt expensive, but I'd do it again. If you are on a budget, I'd do Sonos Arc, add the set of rears next and then the sub last.

You cannot get a Sonos Sound Bar without this woofer... well, you can, but you will be missing amazing lows that take the sound to a whole other level. I have been tempted to get a second one, and it may still happen. Set it up right behind the couch we watch TV from. Absolutely love it!

Great Sonos product. The sound is excellent, the set-up, and integration with other Sonos items (sound bar & surround sound speakers) was easy. The only issue is the price point which is high compared to other products.

If you want to have a complete sound experience with sonos Soundbar you gutta go with this, it will give you the sound you are looking for. Now is a tricky to set it for the house, not like on the app but you will like to try it on different places and different ways to get the proper sound you want. I definitely recommend it, if you want a premium sound you have to pay for it.

I bought 4 of these speakers to use as in-ceiling Atmos speakers in a 5.1.4 setup. These speakers sound great as Atmos speakers, but sound even better when playing music. During parties I set my Denon AVR-x6700h to all channel stereo and these little speakers play loud and clear. They are expensive, but worth every dollar!

Sounds great. Have them installed in ceiling. Easy to set up directional tweeter is easy to manipulate.

These speakers sound great! I am using two of them as my Dolby Atmos speakers in my home theater room, and I am very pleased with the sound quality.

I have much more expensive B&W speakers that are connected to a two channel stereo system in my home and have found them to be very accurate, clear, and able to create a wide soundstage. While these speakers are much less expense (although they are not inexpensive), they sound a lot like the the other B&W speakers I own. There is a quality to all B&W speakers that seems run through the whole product line. I thought I might need the larger 8" speakers, but that is not the case. These 6" speakers have a wide frequency range when paired with a good subwoofer in a surround sound system. In addition, they have a really cool design that makes installation quick and easy. I installed them myself and I had no problems. Basically, you cut the holes in the ceiling using the provided template, draw out the speaker wire, connect the positive and negative ends to the color coded connections on a frame that you then push up into the hole and lock in place. You then simply push the speakers up into the frames using the alignment arrows as a guide and punch the locking nuts into place with a screwdriver. Put on the magnetic covers and you are done....very secure and clean installation. They reproduce a movie soundtrack in amazing detail. I also listened to the B&W 6" speakers below these in the product line and these are clearly superior. I also listened to the speakers above these in the product line and couldn't tell enough difference to justify the higher price, so these seem to be the best value in the line-up.

I upgraded my basic Klipsh in ceiling speakers that came as part of my package when we built in 2014.

I wanted more dynamic range and directional tweeters. The B&W with Kevlar and adjustable tweeters really made the difference!

The sound is tight but robust. Firm and soft at the same time is another way of describing it. The vocals from their famous tweeters are incredible and the mid and bass is as good as you can expect from a 6” cone.

Paired up with 700 watt Martin Logan 10” sub.

Can’t go wrong with B&W

After reading countless online reviews of online reviews, I was stuck between the less expensive Speaker Craft which fit my budget and the Bowers and Wilkins CCM664 which stretched my budget. I visited 3 different Best Buy stores before I found someone helpful and knowledgeable enough to spend the time with me and answer questions. Listened to the Speaker Craft first, which weren't bad, but a bit tinny. Once I listened to the B&W CCM664, I was impressed. and had decided Then against my better judgement, I decided to give the CCM 663s a listen which were $75 more each and would stretch my budget even more. I was blown away! Suddenly my budget was out the window and I walked out with a pair of CCM663s. Installation was a snap and took about 1 hour. The housing is installed and wired in the ceiling first then the speaker easily snaps in. The tweeters are aimable, so creating a large sweetspot is easy. And the grills are magnetically attached. Couldn't be happier!

I used these speakers on my ceiling for my Dolby Atmos setup 7.2.2. I'm very satisfied of the performance. Bowers-Wilkins are high quality product.

Amazing speakers make our living room sound like we’re at the movies!

Spending almost $377 bones on one speaker made me cringe. Especially since my left, right, and rears (Yamaha's), and 4 in-ceiling's (sonance) were $75 each. However the best buy theater guru informed me that the center channel speaker would not be a speaker to skimp on. After some back and forth I bit the bullet and ordered this thing. I recently finished my 5.1.4 setup and dang does it sound amazing. The clarity of voices from this sonance center channel is amazing. I'm very happy with my purchase and now want to replace all my Yamaha's with all sonance's Lol xD

I was concerned about purchasing this speaker because i needed it to fit between the studs. the stud had to be cut out by the installation crew, but it fit and looks great. it sounds wonderful and i have it hooked up to a large home theatre system.

These speakers are easy to install and have better than expected sound for an in-wall. I'm using them for a 5.1.2 setup and am happy with the purchase.

Received speakers quickly for home theater to be installed later in the year.

Got these for half off ($300). They don’t sound anything like a $3000 speaker so get that out of your mind right now. The bass is present and the treble is very good. I got them cause it was a great deal and will use them for my Sirius in house setup. For that they are fine. They do sound fine the louder you play them. The bass comes on very goo and it just sounds much more than a tiny bookshelf speaker should. Get em half off and enjoy them in a lot of situations.

Purchased these as front speakers for our surround sound. They are clear and sound great playing music as well as tv audio. No they don’t sound like thousand dollar speakers but they are excellent sounding speakers for their price point.

If I had bought these at the regular price, I would have been almost satisfied, maybe a little disappointed. But at the sale price of 300, they are an amazing value. Crystal clear, well built, and a great pairing with a mid-range receiver.

Paired with a Denon 600ne amp these are amazing. Tremendous soundstage for a small speaker. Bass response is very good in a small room a sub is not needed. I wondered about the Uni Q set up but it delivers great bass and the clarity is excellent. A steal at $299. Buy them before they go back up!!

Very accurate. Some of the best small bookshelf speakers I've heard. They are not great at lower bass. But if you couple these with a good sub . . . .well. . . . . you're gonna spend a lot of money to get better overall sound than what these will give.

Love these. Simply clear and crisp. I onw LS50Ws from the same vendor and these would be great as L/R or rear channels.

To begin with, my speakers were delivered by a freight company. The temperature outside at delivery was about 68 degrees F. I unpacked each speaker from the shipping box that the B&W 603 S2 Series Anniversary Edition arrived in and let it sit overnight before even opening the factory box so that the speakers could acclimate to the temperature in my house. By the way, the factory boxes that B&W use are seriously the best quality boxes I've ever seen. Nice thick and sturdy cardboard and inside the speakers were cradled very close cell styrofoam, with the speakers wrapped in a foam type blanket. The speakers we so well protected, that you could ship them around the world and there would not be any damage done to the speaker inside.

After I let the speakers acclimate to my home for 24 hours, I opened up the boxes and proceeded to attach the stand to each speaker. The stand attaches to the speaker with 4 screws provided by B&W. The stands measure 14 1/2 D x 12 1/2 W x 1 H. The stands are made of a very high quality of MDF, and I assume the speakers are made of the same high quality MDF. Each speaker come with 4 spikes that you can use if you place your speakers on carpet. Also provided are 4 rubber feet that can be used instead of the spikes if you were to place the speakers on anything other that carpet. The spikes/rubber feet are screwed into the bottom of the base and each spike/rubber feet can be adjusted in case your flooring is not level. The grills are held in place with magnets, so you can have them off, or on depending on your preference. They are very easy to remove, or put on. The magnets are hidden under the "skin" of the speaker so there are not any unsightly holes, or hooks to see if you listen to your speakers with the grills off.

I read that some people have asked what the difference is between the previous model B&W 603 and this new B&W 603 S2 Anniversary Edition. According to B&W's website, the new 603 S2 uses a "refined and upgraded version of their proven Decoupled Double Dome tweeter". Also, according to B&W's website, the 603 S2 Anniversary Edition "benefits from a new optimized crossover design featuring carefully selected components".

I have not heard the previous B&W 603 speaker, so I can't compare it to the new 603 S2 Anniversary Edition. All I can say is that for the money that this speaker costs, it sounds way more expensive than it is. I listen to a wide variety of music ranging from big band, Frank Sinatra, jazz, classic rock, and quite a few European bands like Within Temptation, Nightwish and Xandria to name a few. The European bands I mentioned, their sounds are called Symphonic Metal. In my honest opinion, it's not really metal, but rock. So basically it's rock (metal) with a full symphony. And mixing the two sounds together are terrific in my opinion..

I initially hooked up the B&W 603 S2 Anniversary Edition speakers to my 5.1.4 home theater system with Marantz SR8012 receiver, Paradigm Reference Studio 100's for the fronts, Paradigm Reference CC-590 center and Paradigm ADP 390 for surrounds, SVS Prime Elevations for Atmos, and SVS PB12-Plus for my sub. I've also added an Emotiva XPA Gen 3 amp for the 3 front speakers, with the Marantz powering everything else.

After removing the the front main Paradigms, I hooked up the B&W 603 S2 Anniversary Edition speakers, re-ran my calibration in the Marantz. I decided that I'd sample some various DVD Audio discs and SACD's first of all to get an idea on how the B&W's would sound with music using just the B&W's and then with the B&W's / subwoofer combo. I ran the discs through my Oppo 203 player. Listening to some Doobie Brothers, Styx, Alan Parsons Project and Fleetwood Mac.

Now remember, these speakers are brand new, and not broken in yet. B&W recommends a minimum of 15 hours for their speakers to break in so that "the mechanical parts are able to attain their intended design"characteristics, according to the owners booklet. With my first listening of just the 603's by themselves without the sub, the speakers sounded very nice, but not great. Since the midrange driver is 6 inches and the two bass drivers are 6 1/2 inches each, don't expect lot's of bass from the 603's. The B&W 603's have a small 2 inch port at the bottom rear of the speaker to help aid in the bass department. And while this helps add some additional bass, I think the speakers sound much better with a sub. But I do like a bit more bass than the average person I guess. B&W also includes a foam plug if you wish to plug the rear port. I chose not to do that.

I decide to fully let the speakers "break in" before doing anymore listening to music or movies. Very easy to do, just leave the radio going all day when you're at work. I did this for five days, so I put on 40+ hours of break in before seriously listening to the 603's again.

This time, listening to the same music I listened to on my first initial evaluation and just listening to the speakers without the sub, they sounded like they had a tad more bass which was great and the bass was much tighter as well. But more, the tweeters along with the midrange really came alive. A cd that really lets the B&W 603 S2 Anniversary Edition speaker come alive where you can REALLY HEAR all the very subtle instruments and sounds is The Definitive Collection by The Alan Parsons Project. In the six weeks or so since I've had the B&W 603 S2 Anniversary Edition speakers, I've listed to that particular cd three times. It just sounds excellent on the 603's.

Now onto how the B&W 603 S2 Anniversary Edition sound with movies in my 5.1.4 home theater. I auditioned many movies but some to mention are all of the Star Wars movies, Jumanji (with the Rock), all of the Avengers movies, Jurassic Park, and the Terminator series. Honestly. the B&W 603 did a very good job, but not as well as my Paradigm Reference Studio 100's. The Paradigms have larger speakers (3 bass, 1 midrangs) and a larger 3 1/2 port. The 603's were lacking in the lower and mid range department compared to the Paradigms. The tweeter was about equal with the Paradigms. If I did not know my sound system and I was adding the B&W 603's without ever hearing my front Paradigms, then I'd say it was a good match.

If you could set up your home theater sound system with the B&W 603 S2 Anniversary Edition speakers for all your speakers, I truly think you'd have a terrific set up where all the speakers are matched. The floor standing 603 S2 Anniversary Edition, like what I have for the fronts, with the B&W HTM6 S2 Anniversary Edition for the center and the smaller 607 S2 Anniversary Edition for the surrounds. Then just add your sub.This would make an excellent sound system for BOTH music and movies.

Overall, I highly recommend the B&W 603 S2 Anniversary Edition floorstanding speakers for their clarity, especially in music department. The fit and finish of the speaker itself is outstanding. Something you would find a speaker costing 2-3 times more than what the B&W 603 S2 Anniversary Edition speakers cost. And while they are truly not too expensive for the average person, what you'll hear from them sounds like a speaker costing 2-3 times what this speaker costs.

The thing I am most impressed about with these speakers is their ability to provide complete sound at relatively low volume levels. I love watching my movies with very loud sound, but during those times when loud audio isn’t appropriate, the speakers do an excellent job bringing out all the sounds of the movie in lower volumes. Essentially, the sound reproduction coming from these speakers is excellent when cranked up, and equally excellent when played at lower listening levels. They manage to have a fullness that includes excellent mid-range, clear highs, and dynamic and tight bass. Speakers with similar capabilities cost two to three times as much. And you do not need a high-end amp to get excellent sound from these speakers. If you continue reading below, you will see that they produce great sound when powered by a modest home theater receiver. Overall, this pair of speakers perform well above other speakers at this price range.

Additional details about my home theater setup include a matching Bowers & Wilkins HTM6 Anniversary Edition center channel speaker, an entry level 7.2 receiver (Onkyo TX-NR696), a MartinLogan Dynamo 600X 10-inch subwoofer, and two rear Sony surround satellite speakers, all connected by 14-gauge speaker wire. This is definitely not a high-end setup. However, the speakers do a excellent job delivering a faithful reproduction of the audio signal. The main reason is because they are pretty efficient at 88.5 db. Meaning, they do an above average job of converting power (sent to it by the amp) into sound. The speakers themselves are rated between 30 and 200 watts at 8 ohms. My receiver/amp is pushing roughly 45 watts per channel, which is on the low end of what these speakers can handle. I can only imagine what they would sound like with a more powerful amp. And since I live in a small house with a living room roughly 12 by 18 feet, the supplied power of my current amp is more than enough.

In summary, here are some pros and cons I found while using these speakers.

Pros:

-Excellent mid-range

-Dynamic and tight bass

-Clarity of highs

-Large soundstage, meaning the speakers allow you to hear sounds coming from different areas (e.g. location of instruments in music, sound effects in movies, etc.)

Cons:

-The highs can be a little strong or bright. These speakers have a premium tweeter mounted on top. They produce highs with great accuracy. To adjust this, it’s very easy to lower the highs by decreasing the treble or by adjusting the equivalent frequencies within the amp’s equalizer.

-These speakers produce great bass by themselves, but it doesn’t hurt to add a subwoofer to your system if you’re looking for the really low-end frequencies only a separate subwoofer can provide.

For those interested on how I estimated the watts per channel of my receiver. I used the general rule of taking the total watts of the receiver’s power supply, dividing it by 2, then dividing that number by the total number of channels the amp supports. So, in my case, my receiver’s power supply is rated at 635 watts. I divide that number by two to account for the watts needed to power other functions of the unit. That leaves 317.5 watts remaining to power the 7 channels. By dividing the 317.5 by 7, I get roughly 45 watts per channel.

And one final note, the speakers come with a stand (plinth) that is optional. They’re meant to help stabilize them. I was leaning towards not attaching them because I could have saved a little space, plus I prefer the look with them off. However, since I have an active little one, I decided to attach them. I am so glad I did because while I was setting them up, I accidently bump into them pretty hard while backing out from behind my TV. The stands saved them from toppling over. That would have not been the case otherwise. Lesson to self. I’m more likely to cause damage to them versus my kid.

The Bowers & Wilkens 603 S2 Anniversary Edition floor standing speakers are outstanding from every perspective. Both visually stunning as well as an immersive and fully engaging audio experience.

A small warning while unpacking / setting up. These speakers are no joke and weigh in at around 75lbs per speaker. You may need to bring a friend to help you unbox and setup.

The rest of the setup experience is a dream. These speakers come with a very nice base that you need to mount to the bottom of the speakers. They come equipped with either rubber feet for hard flooring (like mine) and spikes for carpeted flooring. Once installed, the speakers looks like they "float" above the stands and look fantastic. The weight of the speakers ensure no vibration is caused by any loose box. The stand is also extremely firm and connects tightly to the speaker with 4 screws.

If you choose to leave the magnetic speaker covers off, you will be mesmerized from the top down. Starting at the top you will see the signature Decoupled Double Dome tweeter which has the "600 Series Anniversary Edition" text written around them. These tweeters offer sharp and clean highs which reproduce very accurate and immersive sound, whether it be music or a movie. Anything requiring a high fidelity, high octave range is reproduced with ease from this bad boy. Bowers & Wilkens has an overall warmer sound vs super sonic sharp, which I find very pleasurable. These do not make your ear "bleed" but still provides an accurate and precise sound.

Moving down the speaker you're next presented with the shiny silver Continuum cone. This is one of the best distinguishing features of this speaker both visually and sonically. This speaker is used to produce the mid-range sounds from and is the most used part of the speaker. This is arguable the most important aspect of any reproduction of sound when it comes to speakers and often overlooked by lesser quality options. Here B&W produced an astonishing mid-range with a wealth of detail that will have you turning your head to question weather that sound came form the speaker, or something else in the room.

Below that are two low-frequency cones that produce that low, wonderful bass response we all love to hear. These 600 series speakers product an excellent bass without the necessary need for a sub, however, a sub should be added to complete the experience. The bass produced by these floor speakers however are necessary in completing the entire sound stage package. Bass is booming yet clean. If you are able to provide these speakers the necessary wattage to get them up to their peake 200W 8ohm performance, you will notice the bass does not drop out or crackle under the pressure. Whether it be a movie, TV show, hip-hop, jazz, or rock, these speakers are up to the task of reproducing the sound the content creator had in mind.

I was highly impressed with the amount of volume these speakers product when watching Disney's "The Mandelorian". When a light saber scene came up, and the saber was moving from bottom to top of the screen, you could hear the volume ad tiny detail in pitch giving the audio "height", which only a 3-way speaker can produce. It was truly a game changing moment hearing this effect for the first time after previously hearing the same scenes from different speakers.

B&W also includes foam plugs that can be inserted into the rear driver hole. This is incase you cannot position the speakers far enough from the wall and get hear too much bass reverb from the rear. I did not have this issue so I left the foam insert removed. It is nice B&W include such a fine detail in their products. These speakers are truly intended for the audiophile individual who wants to tweak every last detail to maximize their experience.

If you are in the market for a good set of speakers, and the price on these does not scare you away, I cannot recommend these enough. Though you can buy cheaper speakers for sure, the cost of these are an otherwise bargain given the performance and quality delivered. It is easy to hear why Bowers & Wilkens have been a household name in high end audio for so long. They've knocked it out of the park with these anniversary edition speakers.

Bowers and Wilikins is one of the oldest UK speaker companies out there (since 1966, now owned by Sound United) so they do have a lot of experience. Their speakers are known for a their true unbiased sound, excellent characteristics and minimalistic design.

600 Series Anniversary Edition towers are not an exception! Built in a compact 40x13.5x7.5 enclosure they do pack a serios punch! 3 channel design (1" aluminium twitter, 6" Continuum cone mid range and two 6" paper bass drivers) with an upgraded crossover - they do sound bigger then they look!

High frequency is extremely clear and true to the record, mid range is loud and crisp, bass is remarkably powerful!

I did my tests using 2 setups - music room, as a pure 2 channel setup + 12" 500W subwoofer and my home theater room - a complete 7.2.2 Atmos setup. B&W 600 S2 shined in both, especially in a high and mid range - sound clarity was just outstanding.

You will need a subwoofer if you are using these in a home theater setup. Speaker connections - there are 4 terminals on the back of the towers (for bi-amping) that allow for either spade connectors or banana plugs (just remove the plastic cap before inserting banana connector). Measurements using Room EQ Wizard did confirm speaker performance in 28Hz-22kHz range (web site claim up to 33kHz but I can't measure nor possibly hear this :)).

Speakers do come with optional pedestals to improve stability, all necessarily hardware to attach to the pedestals as well as carpet spikes and hardwood floor rubber legs, plus an optional foam plug for a port on the back. Recommended amplifier power - up to 200W at 8 Ohms.

Overall - it's a solid performing tower in it's range, outstanding clarity of highs and sufficient bass makes it a great choice for a 2 channel music or home theater application.

I have been using the B&W 603 S2 Anniversary Edition speakers for the last two weeks and every day sounds better than the one before! I have the speakers bi-wired from my Pioneer Elite receiver and paired with the matching B&W 603 S2 Anniversary Edition center channel without a subwoofer. These speakers have been able to handle absolutely everything I have been able to throw at them! Movies have exceptional clarity and incredible dynamic range, allowing you to hear every detail and providing deep bass, crisp mids, and clear highs. Music was an even more incredible experience, bringing an incredibly immersive listening experience and an incredible sound stage. The speakers are able to provide more than ample bass for all kinds of music, even the most bass heavy varieties. The build quality is excellent, assembly was easy and intuitive, and the magnetic grills allow for a clean appearance with or without the speaker grills. These speakers look and perform as though they should cost at least twice as much!

I would highly recommend these speakers for anyone looking for an incredible sounding tower speaker for their everyday home theater and music listening that brings an incredible audiophile level of sound at an incredible value!

Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) has released their 600 Anniversary series speakers and what an impressive set of speakers they are. Contents of this package is the 603 S2 speaker (1 per box), base mounting hardware, base, magnetic mesh screen, 2-size foam plug for bass port, and installation/build instructions. They come with a 5-year warranty on parts & labor.

Disclaimer: I have 2 of these 603 S2 floor speakers and the B&W HTM6 center channel for this anniversary series hooked up with a Klipsch subwoofer, rear Infinity surround speakers, and a Yamaha RX-V685 7.2 channel receiver. I am replacing a 20-yr old set of great-sounding and vintage BOSE 701 floor speakers and BOSE VCS-10 center channel.

PROS:

* Great look, well built, solid chassis, construction materials used are of high quality.

* I set up my speaker sound using the given Yamaha receiver YPAO microphone. This should be done whenever speaker sets are changed out. After going through that sequence of events, I ended up increasing the center channel volume along with rear speaker volume in order to hear the surround items better and especially the talking in movies better. Once adjusted, these floor speakers really brought out the sound of some blockbuster hits including Wonder Woman 84 on Christmas Day, Gladiator, and Soul (Pixar movie). I played a few other hits on HBOmax and the sound was phenomenal.

* Sound was very crisp on left/right scenes as surround sound dictated. You can tell that the crossovers are doing their job because specific sounds are coming out loud and clear on each individual woofer. The highs from the tweeters really couldn't be better.

* I listened to some digital music including piano, R&B, classic rock, special effects, and country. With each genre, I felt like I was in the middle of a concert. This was done without the use of the surround sound speakers. It was that good.

* The magnetic speaker grills are easily removable and look good on OR off. Be careful though, because these grills are extremely thin and made of plastic and could possibly break easily.

* Attaching the base was quick and easy. Hook-up was easy as it's only 2 wires in most applications.

* These speakers do allow for 2 separate amplifier connections (2 red posts and 2 black posts) if needed.

CONS:

* This is a first - I cannot think of a single "con" for this product. They are THAT good and THAT impressive.

OTHER OBSERVATIONS:

* Make sure you allow for about a week for the sound of your speakers to fall into place with the "breaking-in" period. The speakers need to operate at softer/normal levels before sending them a great deal of power. This includes getting the speakers acclimated to the temperature of your home.

* The speakers themselves will be more dependent on which receiver you use rather than the speaker itself for incredible/great sound. If you use a subpar receiver/amplifier, your sound will be that as well, regardless of speaker quality. If you want these speakers to cry out to you in a good way, invest in a good receiver with ample power. Even though these speakers provide a great balance of sound, including bass, it is still, in my opinion, better to have a separate bass subwoofer (or two for some rooms) to aid with sound quality in the extreme low-band frequencies.

* These speakers come with both carpet spikes (to hold in place) or rubber feet if used on hardwoods/tile. Personally, I like the rubber feet even on carpet. They are so heavy (each is ~60 lbs), that they are not moving anywhere. If they need to be moved or adjusted with rubber feet used, it can be done easily without having to pick up (if using the spikes).

* These speakers are installed onto a wooden base. This base is static and does NOT swivel.

* I did not have a need for using the foam bass woofer plug provided.

CONCLUSION:

Unlike other products like TVs, receivers, computers, cars, and appliances, SPEAKERS are a very simple thing to actually "use". You literally hook them up with 2 wires, and the way they sound is really more dependent on the receiver you have driving them. They might sound good or bad depending on your receiver and sound setup characteristics. Please use a quality receiver to make these things sing! If you don't, then you are losing a ton of specific sounds these speakers can provide at high quality. After 20 years of my vintage BOSE 701's, this upgrade was well worth it and I highly recommend these incredible-sounding speakers.

I have owned a few B &W speakers over the last 10+ years, and I have always been impressed with the beautiful midrange and the crystal clear, detailed treble. My first pair of B & W’s was the 683s, with the sharp looking yellow Kevlar midrange and grey woofers. Having gone through a varied assortment of big box store speakers and never finding something that satisfied, the original 683s were a revelation. I heard nuances and intricacies in my music that I had never heard before.

After a period of time I moved to the CM series of speakers and held on to those for several years until a move forced me to sell most of my equipment off. Recently, I decided to get back into the world of budget, high-end audio, and purchased a pair of the 603 S1’s (from 2018). Just like the B & W’s I have had in past years, the 603 S1’s sounded fantastic. The midrange, instead of the colorful Kevlar of the past, was now B & W’s silver Continuum driver, an upgraded driver that does its best to remove unwanted distortions from the midrange and provide the listener with a more realistic experience. Paired to a Denon receiver, the 603 S1’s provided wonderful sound but did have their shortcomings. At times the bass was slightly bloated, and as a result the mid bass suffered. The midrange at times came off as a bit congested, and depending on the source material the treble could be sizzling hot. Still, they were my favorite speaker. At least, until the 603 S2 Anniversary Editions came along.

When the opportunity arose to receive a pair of these speakers via the Best Buy Tech Insider Network, a program that provides products free of charge from vendors to members in exchange for their unbiased review, I leaped on it. Unboxing the S2’s and comparing them to the S1’s, there isn’t much different from them from a cosmetic viewpoint. They are both the same height, width, and depth; they use the same cabinet and plinth; and they have the same amount of drivers. The Bowers and Wilkins logo on the S2’s has been moved up slightly on the front of the speaker; instead of being at the bottom above the plinth, it now sits just below the bottom bass driver. Another cosmetic difference is the tweeter housing, which now has the words “600 Series Anniversary Edition” etched on the ring. It looks very cool... The grills have remained the same, and are attached magnetically. Other than that, you wouldn’t be able to tell the Series 1 and Series 2 a part.

Internally, Bowers and Wilkins has swapped out the crossover for an improved version in order to improve speaker clarity. The crossover has been upgraded with higher-quality parts, and in my opinion, has made a world of difference in the 603’s sound. A crossover makes sure that the different frequencies of sound are sent to the right driver, splitting the audio signal that comes in via the speaker cables and sending it to the appropriate woofer/tweeter. A low-quality crossover can lead to smudging of sound, or a muddying of the content as it gets sent to drivers that are not intended to produce the signal they are being asked to produce. If I’ve bored you already and you don’t want to read anymore, you can stop right here with my personal opinion: The upgraded crossover network in the 603 S2 Anniversary Edition makes this the speaker to beat in the $5,000 or less category for value and sound. Yes, that’s my opinion, and I’m sticking to it! I’ve listened to the 700 series side by side with the 603 S2 Anniversary Editions, and I feel the 603 S2’s hold their own quite well. I would not have said that about the 603 S1’s.

Let’s get down to listening! After I received and unboxed the new 603 S2’s, I connected them to my Denon AVR-X4700h receiver and played Spotify on a loop for 72 hours to break them in. After an additional day or two of light listening, it was time to get down to business. All music testing was done without a subwoofer and bypassing room correction. The Denon was left in Pure Direct mode. Movies were listened to with Audyssey room correction on and the 603 S2’s joined with a HTM6 S2 Anniversary Edition center channel speaker, a pair of Polk T15’s for surrounds, a Martin Logan sub, and four Sony Atmos modules. Cables to the 603 S2’s were Audioquest Rocket 11’s, and music was provided by SACDs and DVD Audios played via a Sony UBP-X800 or streamed via the HEOS app and a network-connected hard drive. I experimented with speaker positioning and found that the best results in my room were 6” off of the front wall, 9’ apart, 9’ away from the listening position, and only slightly toed in. Surprisingly, even being that close to the wall, the 603 S2 bass never got boomy. It remained defined no matter what material I threw at them.

First up was Loreena McKennitt, a Celtic/New World artist with a gorgeous voice and a love of throwing as many unique instruments as possible into a mix. One of her songs, Marco Polo (from Book of Secrets), is a real challenge for speakers. There are something like 46 instruments being played at any given time, and on the wrong set of speakers, Loreena’s voice can be piercing and all those instruments get blurred together. The 603 S2’s handled this track with ease. I never once felt fatigued, and the song sounded as good as I had ever heard it. I reached near 95dB and the S2’s never lost their composure. Next up was Loreena’s Gates of Instanbul, a track with deep, impacting bass that generally requires a subwoofer to be heard. When the bass hits began, and I heard how deep and accurate they were, I had to get up and check to make sure I hadn’t somehow turned on the subwoofer. It was off. The 603 S2 Anniversary Edition speakers can get low and they sound great doing it. I’ve never heard this level of low frequency ability in a speaker, not since I owned a pair of Definitive Technology super towers.

I cycled through my faves, songs I was intimately familiar with. Pink Floyd’s Meddle may not be their most popular album, but the track Fearless is an acoustical masterpiece. As I listened, I turned to my son (who was like, I want to hear these too!) and said, “I don’t think that drummer is using sticks. He must be using brushes!” I’ve heard this song a thousand times and never picked out that nuance. My son looked it up on Google, and said, “You’re right, he’s using brushes for this song.” The definition and clarity provided by the 603 S2 Anniversary Edition speakers is astonishing. Pink Floyd’s The Final Cut has a track called Paranoid Eyes that mixes tons of background public noise such as laughing, talking, and walking in with Roger Waters’ vocals, a piano, and bass. The 603 S2’s placed each sound within the mix expertly, and I could even hear Roger Waters’ lips smack as he opened them to sing. And when the last few measures of the piano occurred near the end of the song, you could feel the bass coming out of the grand piano that was used.

No matter what I listened to, the experience with the 603 S2’s and music was sublime. Fleetwood Mac’s Never Going Back Again revealed the sound of the picks on the guitar strings. Tusk, off of the Tusk album, and performed with a marching band, gave great weight to the toms in the mix, you could feel and hear the impact of the stick on the drums. A very cool experience. Elton John’s Curtains, off of Captain Fantastic and the Dirt Brown Cowboy showcases the 603 S2’s ability to demonstrate how awesome a good drum kit can sound. And finally, my ultimate torture test for any set of speakers is Tool’s 46 and 2, a song that can practically melt your ears on a set of speakers that isn’t up to the task. Compared to the 603 S1’s, the S2 Anniversary Edition speakers rocked this song. About midway through the track, when Danny Carey’s double kick starts jamming, and he is rolling from one side to the other on his toms/snare, you can hear every hit, every impact, and a subwoofer was not needed.

I should mention the soundstage here too. The 603 S2 soundstage was wide, so wide I would swear that I had my surround speakers on. I felt like in each song I could place exactly where the instruments were at, and singers’ voices were dead center. The 603 S2’s had the ability to sound like a surround sound system with just two speakers. They filled my 15’ by 25’ room with ease.

I couldn’t tell as much of a difference between the Series 1 and Series 2 speakers when it came to movie watching. We watched the opening sequence of the Fellowship of the Ring and also the opening sequence of James Bond’s Casino Royale. Both, in my opinion, are reference soundtracks to use to judge systems by. The 603 S2’s had no issues belting out the sounds and music provided by these movies, and I could find no fault in them.

In case you can’t tell, I loved my experience with the 603 S2 Anniversary Edition towers. These speakers are insightful, impactful, detailed, and are an amazing value. Some might ask if it is worth the extra money, if you have a pair of the 603 Series 1’s, to upgrade to the Series 2. For me, the answer is yes. The new crossovers create a speaker that competes with the 700 series. Bass is more defined, the congestion in the midrange from the earlier model is gone, and the treble is sweet and clear. I exceeded 85 dB for the majority of my listening, and as I mentioned before, I hit 95 dB more than a few times. Through it all, the 603 S2’s held their composure and provided one of the best listening experiences I have had with a speaker thus far. I highly recommend them for music listening, and they have the added benefit of working great for movies too.

TLDR These are amazing speakers and if they fit your budget, just go for them.

I have been a fan of B&W for many years now. I first experienced them in college when my downstairs neighbor got a pair. I was blown away by their sound quality and just how cool the looked. Years later, I was able to purchase a pair of BW 683 S2 speakers for myself. These were great speakers that I was very happy to own for many year.

Fast forward to 2020, I couldn't pass an opportunity to upgrade to the 603 S2 Anniversary Edition. I have read some reviews indicating what an improvement the switch to the continuum driver and the upgraded crossovers are. However, I didn't expect to notice such a big improvement from my old speakers.

I have owned the speakers for about a week now and the amount of detail that comes out of these speakers are amazing. When listening to acoustic guitar, you really can hear the vibrations of each string. Drums really come to life and you can hear the hi-hat open and close. These speakers also produce an amazing amount of bass. While I currently am using these in conjunction with a separate subwoofer, you can easily get away without having one.

My current home theater setup includes a pair of the BW 603s, a BW HTM6 S2 center speaker, Rythmik Audio LV12R sub, and Denon X4300H receiver. If you are using these speaker in a home theater setup, I highly recommend also getting the accompanying HTM6 S2. It really blends perfectly with these speakers.

I’ve had my MartinLogan Motion 60XTi towers for one month, and I enjoy them more each time I listen to them. They play well with my Marantz SR6012 AV receiver (dual amped). Their mirror-perfect gloss black finish hints at the quality inside and makes them a beautiful addition to my listening space. While I’ve not yet fully calibrated my system, I’m impressed with the accuracy and clarity of the high and mid frequencies and, on the other end, the depth and tightness of the lows. This is true both for music and surround-sound movies. Perceived speaker quality is, of course, the product of many variables, not least of which are personal taste and the acoustics of the listening space in which the speakers are used. I found the many written reviews and online video tutorials on the ML line very helpful regarding those factors. If you are considering these speakers, I recommend you include at least one subwoofer in your system (I have two, one of which is a ML model). Note also that the speakers are nominally rated at 4 Ohms. For most users, this won’t likely matter, but check your AV receiver or amplifier user manual to be sure.

This is a very nice upgrade from my old Definitive Tech BP7001SC main speakers. The BP7001SC were a top-of-the line DefTech speaker. Each BP7001SC has a built-in 10 inch powered sub.

But, the MartinLogan 60XTi are definitely an upgrade. The MLs have tighter more controlled bass. The ML high end is very smooth and articulate. And the most obvious difference is the much better stereo imaging produced by the MLs.

I am driving the MLs with a Krell KAV250a amp. The KAV250a has no problem with the 4 ohm load of the MLs. Krell is known for its awesome bass. And, with the DefTechs, I was losing some of the Krell's bass production due to the powered sub of the DefTechs.

Considering that the MLs are actually a little cheaper than the original price of the BP7001SC, the MLs are a real bargain for someone looking to upgrade.

Great floor standing speakers . At first glance might seem expensive as I was looking at the klipse speakers but when I demoed them in the magnolia room I was sold . Took them home abs sounded even better

I love the Martin Logan set that I bought that includes 60XTs for the front, 50 XT Center, 800X subwoofer, and ER series for surround and back surround.

However, one of the 60XTs had a non functioning tweeter and mid range driver and its taken more that 5 weeks for the geek squad to repair it. I have not yet gotten it back, but want to caution customers that you should have the speakers tested in store before you take them home.

I've scored quality as a 3 because of this.

This my second Martin Logan product and I got this for a different area. Sound is amazing and it makes a statement in the room.

These speakers are simply amazing and a night and day difference to previous speakers.

These speakers sound fantastic. I auditioned these and some B&W’s and to my ear these sounded warmer and overall better. I have them connected to a Rotel amp and they perform flawlessly. Beautiful cabinets as well. Replaced my Klipsch speakers with these and couldn’t be happier.

Fantastic speakers. Definitely not as clear as the 702s with their separate driver but still really good. I’d say don’t skimp on the amp. I have a Yamaha 780 and it does well but it definitely doesn’t have enough power to fully drive them. I’d say pair no less than a 1 grand receiver with these to get the most out of them. Definitely need a subwoofer with these if anyone is wondering. They are a little over top with bass sometimes but I like it as it’s tight.

We got a set of these for our front speakers in our home theater set up. Truly wonderful sound. They were an easy choice when we compared speakers. Better sound than most, but not a break the bank price. Buy quality and you only have to do it once.

This is tough to say, as I love my CM's, but the 700 series do sound better than the CM line. Anyone with the CM S2's will appreciate the the 700's once you hear them. Bowers and Wilkins have outdone themselves again.

Be warned, once you hear them, it'll be hard to resist upgradeitus. You will not be disappointed with the new 700 series.

Great speakers! The sound and bass during a movie or listening to music is incredible. I have a LG Oled and wanted speakers that matches the quality of the tv and these did the trick.

The product is amazing. How much clarity that comes from these speakers, paired sonicaly with my in ceiling Bowers & Wilkins - 6" 2-Way In-Ceiling Speaker Model:CCM663. placement in my room according how Jay suggested is an absolute must as well.

If you want to hear a band playing in your living room these are the speakers for you. All the subtle sounds come to life. You will not be disappointed. We opted for the wired speakers as opposed to wireless for even better sound.

About month ago I upgraded my sound system and had initially purchased Martin Logan Motion 2i speakers as my surround left/right and absolutely loved them. However, my wife did not like how bulky they look on the wall (although they are actually very small). So I exchanged them for these B&W in-wall speakers. I was worried that I wasn't going to get the same sound quality of the ML Motion 2i, but I was pleasantly surprised. These in-wall speakers sound amazing. And you can barely notice them on the wall, which is a big plus since I got my wife's approval.

Pros: great highs and mids for both music and movies; they almost disappear on the wall; easy to install; very well made/good quality; comparable (if not better) to most bookshelf speakers of the same size/price.

Cons: I can't think of any really. The only thing that comes to mind is that the lows may not be as good as some bookshelf speakers. But with the proper EQ adjustment, they sound amazing and have had absolutely no problem playing great sound with anything i have thrown at it so far.

Overall, I couldn't be happier and would totally buy these again. Another thing I can mentioned is that the sound coming out of the speakers fills the room pretty well, making it hard for the listener to pin point the exact location of the speaker from the listener positions in my room, which is a big plus for surround sound.

These speakers are easy to install and have better than expected sound. I'm using them for Atmos in a 5.1.2 setup and they seem to play well with the the Sonace VP62 in-wall speakers. I think these would make nice speakers for a whole home audio system as well.

My new Sonance ceiling speakers are a great match to my in wall speakers. They blend into the ceiling. They provide the background sound in surround sound mode.

I’m extremely happy with these in ceiling speakers. They were very easy to install. I’ve never installed in ceiling speakers before and it took me <15 per speaker. Cutting your ceiling can seem intimidating but these have some tolerance should you over-cut the hole a bit. They sounded great on my old receiver but really came alive when I hooked them to my new receiver.

Exceptional sound for music in main living area (den,living room). Two pair, powered with a Sonos amp. I expected the need for a subwoofer, but the two pair can produce just enough to satisfy; the caveat being that I have the ability to use the Sonos EQ for bass.

The cost value comes with the $149 sales tag, versus MSRP.

I was skeptical based on the current sale price but figured they are a common size so noting to lose if the sound quality isn’t on par with my Definitive towers and powered center. Installer put them in today and I’m blown away by the sound quality. If I didn’t already have new high end speakers I would bury 7 of these in the ceiling and get a powered sub. These are the perfect surround speaker at a bargain basement price.

These are very capable in-ceiling speakers for the money. Considering the solid build, aesthetics, thoughtful design and noteworthy performance, these speakers cant be beat. I'm replacing a pair of 6.5" Pyle in-ceilings I've had for a year and although they sounded ok I was never happy with them so I started shopping for replacements. Looked at Yamaha, Klipsch and Polk but have always overlooked Sonance due to the MSRP. Also dont think they're worth $600 but definitely a steal for $150 sale price. Glad I waited for it to go back on sale. The Pyles dont even compare to these Sonance speakers. I'm using them for surround sound and they integrate well with my set up. My system is consist of Def Tech BP9040 towers with A90 Atmos toppers, CS9060 center channel speaker and a single SVS SB-2000 subwoofer. All powered by Denon AVR S740H and I'm delighted to say the Sonance MAG6R speakers are able to keep up with my set up with grace especially in movies where tonal timber was very noticeable with the Pyles when sound moves from front to rear.

Stand alone they sound decent with more emphasis on the highs in both music and movies. Mid range is satisfyingly crisp and clear. I'm hoping it would sound even better after the break in period but happy with them as is

The speakers are made of high quality materials and the packaging is excellent! Install was a cinch. Had to make the original opening bigger to accommodate the size of the Sonance and it took me about 2 hrs including prep work without wiring. They cleanly sit flush in my ceiling as shown in the pictures I uploaded. Check them out.

If you're moderately handy, have the proper tools and can follow instructions go for it! You'll be glad you did.

Side note: you're probably considering in-ceiling speakers because your space is at a premium or just dont prefer seeing a room full of black boxes (both my case) but desire theater sound. With that in mind dont compare these to full size or even book shelf speakers. Keep it real and they wont disappoint.

I bought 2 sets of these. Put one set in the wall with the tv, and one set in the ceiling over the couch. I also put a center speaker in the wall above the tv and have a Polk subwoofer, all hooked up to an old Onkyo receiver/amp with a digital audio connection from the tv. It sounds pretty amazing!! Great speakers for the price. Note that these are too deep for a normal wall, but I have an extra deep wall. I also painted the grilles. The grilles can only be sprayed, as brushing won’t work with the tiny holes. I used my dark green wall paint, thinned it a lot and used an HVLP sprayer. They came out great. I did not paint the ones in the ceiling, since it’s white. Installation is very simple. They come with a good, stiff template.

First off, these are fantastic sounding speakers. My only caveat is for those DIYers that are relatively inexperienced with running speaker wires (like me); and that is, do your homework on what you need and are trying to achieve.

IN THE BOX

Pretty straightforward, you get the two eight inch speakers (which are pretty big) and a cardboard cutout for ceiling installation. NOTE: while I'm sure it's technically possibly, these are not meant for wall installation. You don't get any speaker wire.

SETTING UP and INSTALLATION

The first step is to figure out how you want to use these speakers. They obviously go in the ceiling, but are you wanting to use these to play music in a kitchen or living area? Or are you wanting to add surround speakers to your home theater? From my research, these can be used as surround speakers but they are better suited for a Dolby Atmos setup vs. being the rear speakers in a standard 5.1 speaker setup.

Just as a quick explanation for those that don't know,. Dolby Atmos is the new gold standard for surround sound. Dolby recommends a center channel, left and right front speaker, two rear speakers, and a subwoofer (which is the normal 5.1 surround) PLUS additional speakers to the left and right of where you sit AND two speakers directly above your sitting area. (I ended up foregoing the speakers to the left and right of the viewing area and used these to project surround sound from above).

The other primary use is for listening to music. I contemplated putting these in my kitchen to play music (and get rid of the standalone speaker on the counter) but for ME, I decided it would prove more complicated because I didn't have a receiver in the area and it was easier to utilize the receiver in my basement to get the Dolby Atmos sound.

The same installation principles apply to whichever way you use them, but again, you'll want to do your research on how you want to use them and what's feasible to do in your house. If you have a house that's already wired for ceiling speakers, then you're well ahead of the curve, I did not, and while it presented a challenge, it's nothing some ingenuity couldn't get around.

Once you figure out how you're going to use these speakers, then you're ready to get the necessary equipment for the installation (which is the challenging part, but is something you'll have to do whether you're installing ANY brand of in-ceiling speakers.

You will need plenty of in wall speaker wire (will be a thicker cable housing with two wires running inside for positive and negative). I would err on the side of getting A LOT. You'll have to run two speakers from wherever your receiver is located.

The complicated part is obviously the design of the room. What I did, was run the speaker wire behind the baseboards (be careful prying them off the wall!) and then when I got to the back wall, I drilled a hole at the bottom and top and fished the lines using metal fishing wire to get it to the ceiling. From there, I cut a hole where the speaker would go and apply the same principles to fish the line to where my ceiling and wall met to pull the speaker wire through.

Obviously I'm summarizing and what I did may not work for you. But that's where the homework part comes in. Sure you can hire a professional, but if you're looking at this review I'm assuming you, at a minimum, have an interest in installing these yourself. And I'm here to tell you that you can do it, you just need to plan it out.

PUTTING THE SPEAKER IN THE CEILING

This was the easy part. Whether your house has cables preinstalled or you did it yourself, all you do is use the template that's included in the box with the speakers, draw a circle, cut the hole (I used a drywall hand saw), attach the speakers, and then using a Phillips screwdriver loosening the screws then some sort of latch (for lack of a better word) comes out of the sides of the speaker, so after you put the speaker in the ceiling it "catches" onto the ceiling material to prevent it from falling. Just make sure not to tighten.

SOUND QUALITY

I have to mention the sound quality. Sonance is a great brand so you know you're getting quality speakers. For my setup, I didn't test it for music (I'm not sure they play through my receiver as things are set up, but when watching movies, it's awesome. A helicopter flying by literally felt like it was flying over my head. It is truly immersive and it's movie theater type stuff. It really is something you can only appreciate in person. Bottom line is that the sound quality is fantastic and you won't be disappointed.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

I neglected to mention because it's probably known to most people reading this, but you need to connect your speakers to an amplifier or receiver to work. And for my setup where I was using these speakers as Dolby Atmos surround speakers, you need to make sure your equipment supports Dolby Atmos. Older receivers won't.

Also, I neglected to mention that the tweeters in these speakers are angled and DON'T point straight down. So when installing, and before you put the grill on, you need to make sure that the speakers are pointed towards where you'll be sitting.

CONCLUSION

As I said in the beginning, these speakers sound great. I didn't test them as stereo speakers to play music, but based on the sound input in my home theater setup I have no doubts they would excel either way. The only downside, which exists when running any speaker wire, is that the installation can be time consuming, although I guarantee you not impossible.

Sonance's speaker line offers stunning performance, with visuals to boot. The MAG8R series is no exception to that.

With my current 7.2 setups, I opted for overhead speakers for my home theater. After testing out overheads, I wanted speakers that offer a full-range of sound, including bass and crystal-clear sound. In comes, the MAG8R 2-way speakers, offered by Sonance.

Installation:

The speakers include a template for you to draw the hole (a little over 10") to cut and fit the speakers in the ceiling. I would recommend using a stud finder and heading into your attic to measure out attic beams. Also, check to make sure you do not have a conduit, or another electrical wiring in your ceiling before tracing your template, and cutting. Although this was my preference, I opted to use a hole saw to make a perfect cut in my ceiling (you could use a hand saw suited for drywall or plaster, too). When installing the speakers, the MAG8R's include wing nuts that will open and bind to the ceiling as you are tightening them in, which is a nice feature. I would also suggest having someone help you run the speaker wire from the attic to the wall that you are fishing the line to. One positive experience I had installing this speaker series was the option to pivot the tweeter and woofer towards the couch/listening area. Other speakers I looked at did not offer this feature. More so, the MAG8R speakers have a built-in magnet that allows you to attach the grille plate with ease. Make sure to install the speakers flush to the ceiling so that the grille plate can sit flush on the ceiling. Although not necessary for me, the grille plate is designed for you to paint it (to match the ceiling color if needed).

After I ran the cabling and plugged it into my receiver, this is where the fun begins.

Setup/Sound/Performance:

Note, once you plug the speaker wires into your surround, refer to your receiver manual/setup menu for enabling extra speaker channels. At first, I did not hear anything out of these. However, when I enabled the overhead channels on my Marantz receiver, the speakers "came to life." For my setup, I turned the decibel levels up, on each MAG8R, to level four. I popped in my 4K version of Apocolypse now, and oh my god, the sound. I have two subwoofers already. Yet, when the "helicopter sequence" came on, the sound traveled, literally, over my head, and it was loud and clear. The bass from the film was in front of me and over my head as well. More than likely, adjusting the speaker in the ceiling towards our couch/listening area allowed us to immerse ourselves more in the films we watched. Again, the sound was crystal-clear from where we were sitting (the speakers are about six feet above our heads). Surprisingly, since the speakers contain a built-in woofer, there were no issues with the ceiling, or speakers rattling. After testing multiple 4K films with 7.1 channels, the speakers continuously performed at an exceptional level.

Overall, the MAG8R speakers offer a loud performance but appear invisible. The installation after measuring, stud finding, and fishing cable were easy (but time-consuming). The speakers themselves have an elegant appearance while offering pivoting woofers and tweeters so that you can focus sound on any place in the room. Overall, the MAG8R speakers are a solid choice for anyone looking for ceiling speakers for their home theater.

I have been looking to replace my existing in-wall speakers with high-quality speakers. I am very particular with sound quality and brand. I got Sonance - Magnolia 8" Passive 2-Way In-Ceiling Speakers (Pair).

The packing was perfect. It came with two MAG8R speakers with pointable grilles and mounting cut-out template. Setup was pretty easy for MAG8R 8” 2-Way speakers. I have installed the speakers around 7 feet apart with the main listening position. It looks beautiful on the wall with the provided micro-film grille. The grille attached to speakers very nicely due to magnets. If the installation is perfect, the grille trim should make contact with the wall all the way around the speaker.

MAG8NR specifications are Frequency Response as 40H – 20kHz +-3dB,

Impedance is 8 ohms nominal; 6 ohms minimum and Power Handling 5 watts minimum, 150 watts maximum. I have done auto re-calibration in my pioneer due to new speakers installed. After the calibration, I have played a few songs and movie clips. The sound quality is excellent and way better than my previous in-wall speakers. I am planning to change all my surround in-wall speakers with MAG8R on my 9.2 speaker setup.

MAG8R came with a 2-year warranty for speakers and a 5-year warranty for the grille. I watched a few movies after installing these speakers and I felt like theater experience for sound. I highly recommend these speakers for a home theater setup.

After listening to the 6.5 inch speakers by Sonance, I am glad I went with the 8 inch size. They fill my family room with a rich quality sound, look high end and saves space. Easy install. Great purchase, price and product.

Sonance has a wide range of in-ceiling, in-wall and invisible speakers. However, these 8 inch in-ceiling speakers from Best Buy Magnolia, on sale, are much easier on the pocket.

I recently moved and my entertainment room is a bit smaller than my old place. I still wanted to have full range speakers but even with slim bookshelf speakers would be intruding on my projection screens space. These speakers require a fair bit of ceiling space though, with a bit over 5 inches (5.26”) of depth and slightly more than 10 inches (10.125”) round. However, once installed the slim grill is the only piece visible and hardly at that. These are super easy to install, the most difficult part is getting the wiring to your selected location. I certainly recommend following the directions and using something like a coat hanger to test the space before you cut such a large hole in your ceiling. My first choice was too close to a beam and the small hole and coat hanger method made me realize this. Once the hole is made, wires ran, it is just spring loaded connector posts for attaching the wires and 4 screws with self tightening brackets to keep it in place. The grill is magnetically attached and has a slight inset to keep it as flush as possible. Of course, you could always go with professional installation in your area.

As for sound, I was surprised at the range of these speakers. I’m sure the installation location has a lot to do with it but my space seemed to act like a subwoofer enclosure. I had to verify my sub was off while just testing these out. The woofer and tweeter can both be angled so that you can get your sound more directional. In my case they are acting as front speakers, so they are angled to provide sound directionality toward the seating area. After some tuning with my receiver I now feel I need to get some more of these to replace my older speakers as my bookshelf speakers sound tiny in comparison.

These are fine speakers. Install is designed to be easy, but because I was replacing older in ceiling speakers, I had to do some replastering.

My family noticed the sound improvement immediately and the speaker cover is flatter and less obtrusive visually.

They handle high volume without distortion. Base is very good. The ability to move the tweeter and woofer independently is nice...and effective.

Designed for easy installation in the ceiling, they provide superb sound.

SInce they can handle 150 watts, at 8-ohms, I included them as my ATMOS DOLBY ceiling speakers. While I would love to add these to my living room, but bedrooms above dictated not. But, they family room was the perfect choice.

Plan carefully, as you need to run wires into the ceiling space between joists. The included template helps cut the correct diameter hole. The four (4) CLAMPS engage as you tighten the screws, much like new work electrical boxes.

When used with the proper amplifier, like my SONY 7.2 channel, 200-amp per channel receiver, clear sound is heard without noticeable distortion.

I plan build a set of open port, bass reflect speakers I made back in the late '70s. The sound was phenomenal, and with these speakers they will be even better.

Speakers can be costly, but provide one of the most import parts of your home theater experience. Just remember life before DOLBY Stereo.....

Dolby Atmos changes the way music and movies sound. Worth the buy for that alone. I paired with the Sonos Sub and two ONE SLs. Once you use their trueplay software it basically balances out your room and it will literally blow your mind as you listen to music and movies that are built for atmos.

A couple of notes:

-To get the most of this bar you will need an Apple TV. Apple TV is one of the only devices that offers lossless playback and Dolby Atmos for music. Not every song is rebuilt for Atmos yet, but there is a good selection. You’ll obviously also need the Apple Music subscription for this. They have playlists that walk you through what it sounds like once Atmos is on.

- If you have an older TV without EARC, you won’t be able to get true Atmos. If you are planning on buying this soundbar I would say the best feature it has is the Atmos. I have an older model so this was an issue for me. I purchased the HD FIRE ARCANA and it has fixed my EARC issue. I am now receiving full Atmos over my normal Arc and it displays this in the Sonos app.

- Disney, Netflix, PRIME and some HBO movies have Atmos. You’ll see it displayed before you play the movie. The only way to truly tell if you’re getting it is if it is displaying it in the Sonos app. You’ll definitely be able to hear it though.

I have been a long time Sonos junkie since my first purchaseof a Beam. At first the Beam worked well in my space but after some remodelingand the removal of a wall I needed something with more power. I held off on thePlaybar simply because of the rumors of an update and pre-ordered this SonosArc as soon as it was available.

First the appearance:This thing is beautiful. With a very modern styling, drilled grill wrapped around the internals this thing is the only piece in my room that gives my LG C9 a run for it's money in appearance. This styling fits in line with all the newest Sonos products on the market today. The Arc is also very wide which is why it is recommended for TVs over 50" (pictured with my 65" LG C9)

Weighing in at almost 14 pounds, this soundbar and all its components exude quality. Inside are three tweeters (for higher end sound) and eight woofers for mid-range and bass. What is great and new about this product is that 4 of these drivers aim directly at you while 2 aim out the sides and 2 fire sound upward. This enables Arc to give you sound in all directions, including above you. This addition of upfiring speakers enables the Arc to sound effects for any movies/content coded with Dolby Atmos.

Setup is easy just like other Sonos products (opened the app, add product and the Arc was instantly recognized). After setting it in place I tuned thru TruePlay (a must do in my opinion) to get the room setup and tuned with my Sonos Sub and Play:1 Surround speakers. Even during the tuning I noticed how well the Arc bounced those sounds off the walls to create the left and right front speaker sounds I felt were lacking with the Beam. First movie I fired up was The Rise of Skywalker and sure enough in the opening scene three Tie Fighters buzzed directly over our heads and made my fiance jump.

For this this next portion please make sure to note the difference when talking about the Sonos Arc (not all capitalized) and the HDMI eARC and ARC ports (fully capitalized). This can cause confusion. In order to get lossless Atmos you must make sure you have an Atmos enabled TV with eARC HDMI ports. If your TV only has ARC HDMI you can still get Atmos but it will not be in its full lossless format, it will be compressed Atmos. All this of course is under the assumption that your content is Atmos. You will know it is working if you pull up your Sonos app and click on the room your Arc is in and will see the "Dolby Atmos" symbol listed under the TV. For my setup I have an Apple TV 4K connected to my LG C9, and the Sonos Arc is connected via the eARC HDMI port.

Listening to sound for music, the Arc is a significant upgrade over the Beam but that should be a given based on the size, power, and quantity of speaker differences between the two. While the sound is great I do not know if I would stop using my Play:5 in the same room for just music, only for parties/gatherings in which the surround and bass speakers would help fill the room more.

For my purposes I use Google Assistant and the far field mics caught my voice easily even while sound was playing from the speaker and a medium volume.

While a big jump from the Beam pricing and $100 more than it's predecessor, the Arc delivers. While you can get soundbars for under $150, this one is the cream of the crop and is worth the price tag if you can afford. Sonos's ease of use and seamless streaming technology already shine above a lot of it's competitors but the addition of this new Arc soundbar puts them ahead of everyone else in soundbar tech and makes it the soundbar to beat. The Arc is an outstanding speaker and should be the first choice when wanting to convert just a TV into a a surround system in a medium to large sized room.

Best Soundbar on the Market ! And it’s not even close. I”ve tried all the soundbars on the market and the Arc destroys them all. Once you add a sub and the Sonos Ones or SL”s it’s Game Over. Sure you can buy a cheaper all in one Soundbar, But in a year’s time it’s obselete and replaced by a newer model and yours is half off and worthless. Save yourself the time now and just buy it. It sounds incredible. The Sub is world class ! The great thing about Sonos is you can upgrade at your own pace. Whenever you get the money just add whichever speaker you need to complete your home theater setup.

I first purchased the Samsung Q950 to go with my Samsung TV and was deeply disappointed. This Sonos Arc exceeded all of my expectations.

My TV room is not cavernous, so I figured a soundbar would work well and I was tired of the complexity and bulk of my aging A/V receiver. All of the reviews I saw and read recommended either the Samsung or Sonos. The Samsung sounded terrible for the price. I can't understand how it received so many positive reviews.

The Sonos Arc, on the other hand, exceeded all of my expectations.

The sound separation and stage are both great. It's amazing that they can effectively achieve surround sound without rear speakers. Bullets appear to whizz past your ear and background music appears to emanate from behind you. The sound is incredibly lively.

And the bass from this thing is terrific. The low and mid-bass are very balanced. The rumble is there when you want it and not there when you don't. It's full and punchy - so much so that I don't think I will buy the subwoofer. If your room is larger, you may need/want it but for my layout and taste, it's more than enough (and I like me some bass).

There are also a couple of handy features on the app. It has a nighttime mode, which will keep the volume more even and avoid loud peaks like explosions from waking up the house. There's also a speech enhancement mode that will make it easier to hear conversations. I've tried both modes and they work quite well.

Setup was quite easy and uses a smartphone app to calibrate the bar to the room acoustics. It walks you through everything quite clearly and I had no issues.

I'm loving this soundbar and highly recommend it!

Great product. Its true Dolby Atmos, user friendly and easy to set up. Perfect for large 2 story rooms. I ended up buying 3 of these. The only thing comparable is Bose Soundbar 9 series.

Everything worked out better than I expected. The Sonos ARK is amazing. I was worried about spending so much on a sound bar and I’m happy to say it was money well spent.

There simply is no down side to these speakers, allowing that no premium product of any sort can be purchased for a low dollar amount. But even at about $250.00 each, these speakers are worth the price in spades. There is hardly anywhere these speakers cannot be placed, fixed or hung, even on top of your head, if you like, by mounting them on a bike helmet or other head gear. Aside from that, their compact size and style allows you to locate them as inconspicuously as possible, to least detract from your interior décor. Last but very pointedly not least is their sound quality. Their wide frequency range and clarity, and their capacity of making speech intelligible at low volume levels is a thing of wonder.

I purchased these to fill my living room space. We have a movie room, so I didn't want a full blown surround sound system with towering speakers and such. These b&with seamed to fit the bill. All I can say is WOW! Not quite the fullness as my 685s and 686s, but they sound great. I also have a 10" sub which helps make up for the size deficiency of these speakers.

These small speakers more than exceed their size and sound great. I'm using for front surround for my Sony TV and stereo with a Yamaha receiver.

** My only complaint is I purchased two as open box/ satisfactory condition. So I was prepared for minor nicks or marks on them. One of the two came in original box and was actually near perfect condition. The other was in unmarked carton. This 2nd speaker has been used to the point that the swivel function left-right or up-down is warn out. So this one only only points down.

** So I would recommend for purchase. Just beware of open box product.

I included four of the Bowers & Wilkins 4" satellite speakers in a 5.1 setup together with a Bowers & Wilkins 700 series Center Channel speaker. Before my purchase, I did extensive research on the speakers. I also requested a demo at my local Best Buy Magnolia store. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. While they are small in size compared to floor standing speakers, they worked perfectly in a 15' x 15' room. Their size also allow them to not be an eye sore, as I did not want to have huge speakers in a small room. If you have a similar size room, I definitely recommend these speakers. They provide more than enough sound to fill the room. On a side note, there have been several instances where my family and I have been fooled by the surround sound, thinking someone else was either knocking on the door or thinking someone else was in the room talking. If you're on the fence, go to a Best Buy Magnolia store to hear for yourself how good they really are.

I purchased the B&W speaker to use as a center channel after discussing my options with the Magnolia specialist. I was originally thinking of a dedicated center channel speaker but I was limited with the amount of room I had beneath my TV. The specialist recommended this speaker even though it is used as a bookshelf speaker. I could not be happier with this product.

Excellent little surround speakers. Super quality and great sound. They totally match the sound of my three B&W front speakers (CDM7) and complete my 5.1 surround set up. I have tried other surround speakers (Bose and two different Klipsch) and they did not match the sound of my B&W front speakers. Something was just missing. These speakers solved the issue. Highly recommended.

I purchased 3 of these speakers as Open box items. Fortunately, I planned to mount them in my theater and did not need the missing bookshelf stands. They work perfectly in my 7.2 surround sound system as front and center speakers.

The colors couldn't have matched my walls better. Aesthetics are perfect. When you crank up the volume the sound is way above my expectations.

Do yourself a favor. Spend the money and by the BW complete set. Anything less is just, well... Less.

OK, The installation of this speaker was so easy, the sound is great and the look&feel is just amazing, I installed it on an accent wall with stone tiles and the white cover was just perfect for that wall... everyone ask me all the time about the speakers.

These speakers are easy to install and have better than expected sound for an in-wall. I'm using them for a 5.1.2 setup and am happy with the purchase. I painted the grills by thinning down the wall paint and spraying 3 thin coats.

Great for surround speaker use. I would not recommend for a left, right, or center channels. I use it as surround left and right and it does a great job! I also has matching in ceiling sonance speakers as well. All perform well as surrounds.

We are in the middle of a remodel. Still have a bit to go but decided to get the system installed now. The Sonos in ceiling speakers disappear into the ceiling. No sound distortion and excellent sound, soft listening and even at high volume. Very happy with this purchase and the installation. So far so good!

Easy solution for hidden speakers in the Sonos ecosystem. We use these in the kitchen and probably overkill for the room, but tunes and podcasts sound clear and consistent.

These things really are amazing. These are the only ceiling speakers that will allow you to utilize SONOS trueplay technology. I installed four of these in my living room and there's no need for a center channel at all.

I am using these as garage speakers, with a Yamaha 202 receiver. Play with the placement and toe in before permanently mounting and you will be very happy with these speakers.

If you do not need ear bleed loud music, these will work well, very clear good sounding speakers with most kinds of music.

The Yamaha is 100watt and great match, it can push these 50 watt speakers harder than they should be pushed but has good sound.

Overall very happy with these speakers.

Purchased these speakers based on previous Klipsch purchases. (I have a complete surround sound system in my home. Knowing the companies reputation, I got a pair of outdoor speakers. The KIO-650 outdoor speakers are less than my favorite speaker from Klipsch. Be prepared to dish out some power to run these and get full range sound from them. .still, they fail short in the mid to high range. I love Klipsch products, but these are not my favorite speakers!

These speakers are great with a crystal clear sound, so I bought another set of them just for good measure!!!

All the reviews are real on how these speakers perform, very load and crisp sound. My neighbors will definitely be joining the party or telling me to turn down the music. Either way buy these if u want great priced speakers and great sound. Don't over think it like I did, buy them.

Great speaker, a little pricey for what I am using it for but that's ok.

The function is great, but the all-weather finish didn't hold up. Purchased these in August 2016 to install by our pool and the white speaker part rusted within a year. They are still up and functioning, but certainly don't appear luxurious anymore. Decided to post this review now that I'm looking for something more aesthetically pleasing.

These speaker sound amazing and do a great job of filling my backyard. Solidly built and easy to mount.

The Sonance concealed TV audio system offers a convenient and easy all-in-solution to installing in-wall speakers. Plus, the 2 in-wall Mag 6 LCR speakers are some of the best sounding speakers that I’ve ever heard. The speakers are powered by the new Sonos amp, which provides 125w per speaker, in addition it also streams from every music streaming service in the world.

Instillation

The highlight to this audio system, is that it comes with everything you need to install and power the system (minus the tools and cables), right out of the box. This includes, the metal in-wall box that stores the amp, power, speaker wires, plus it can fit some extra devices like a Roku or an Apple TV. This is all concealed right behind your TV. The kit also includes a low voltage power kit, which lets you add an outlet without the need to install any electrical outlets. Lastly, the kit also comes with a small power adapter. The instructions offer a very easy to follow video for help with instillation, through a QR code link. Installation is pretty simple, just as long as you plan out beforehand. By planning out, I mean finding studs, measuring, and leveling. Both speakers come with cardboard cutout templates, which helps make this process a lot easier. Once everything is measured and aligned, it’s just a matter of cutting out the holes and placing all the pieces into the wall.

Sound Quality

The pair of the Sonance 6.5” Mag 6 LCR speakers, are by far some of the best in-wall speakers I’ve ever heard. With 2 - 6.5” woofers and a 1” tweeter, the sound quality is crystal clear, offering a perfect balance of both bass and clarity. When watching movies, voices can be heard very clear, and sound effects are deep and heavy. I am really impressed with the frequency range of these speakers, the range between highs and lows are incredible and they really bring the sound to life. Bass doesn’t sound muffled and distorted, but rather very strong and smooth. And the highs are very crisp and clear. In short, the speakers give off an amazing tolerance. The same thing can be said while listening to music. With the deep bass and clear treble, music sounds amazing. You can actually hear all the different instruments and sound effects being played; everything sounds very bright.

Sonos Amp

Having amazing speakers alone, doesn’t mean anything unless you have the means of powering them. With these 2 powerful speakers, you’re going to need something that can run the pair of 6 ohms speakers with enough power to handle them. That’s where the Sonos Amp comes into play. The amp provides the perfect amount of power with 2 channels at 125w per channel. The amp really does an amazing job at distributing power to the 2 speakers evenly. Aside from the power, the Sonos amp also has the ability to stream any music service in the world, all by using the Sonos app. Through the app is where you can control your system’s sound and music content. You can also group rooms and other Sonos speakers to play at the same time. The one problem that I have with the Sonos amp, is that it only has 1 output, an HDMI out. This is fine, if all you want to use your speakers for are streaming through your smart TV apps and listening to Sonos music. But if you have other components like a PS4, Xbox, Blu-Ray, then you’re going to need a separate adapter, an optical to HDMI adapter that Sonos sells separately. I would like to mention, that the amp does have the ability to use Airplay 2. With Airplay 2, you can watch anything on your Apple TV (4th gen or higher) with your speakers, wirelessly. I will say, the Airplay function does work very well. It connects almost instantly and has no lag.

Overall, the Sonance concealed audio system is a great package. The 2 Sonance Mag 6 speakers are truly high-end speakers that offer amazing sound. The in-wall box offers a convenient solution to not only powering, but also concealing all the cables and components in the wall right behind the TV. The Sonos amp is able to generate plenty of amps to power the speakers, plus its able to stream a plethora of music services. The Airplay 2 function is a great solution to streaming sound wirelessly from your Apple TV to your speakers. I only with the amp had an optical output, or at least come with the adapter so you can use the speakers with other components. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for premium sounding speakers.

The Sonance MAG Concealed TV Audio System is an excellent all-in-one kit for people who want top notch audio with a minimalist stealth look to blend in with their wall-mounted TV.

Word of warning, installing this requires a decent amount of DIY resourcefulness and potentially power tools. If you are not comfortable doing either, or measuring dimensions etc., make sure to use a contractor or contact Best Buy Magnolia to assist.

I’m pretty handy so I figured I could tackle this but I still ran into some issues. My Family Room has wood paneling which is basically wood grain on thick cardboard, so I couldn’t use a jab saw. Instead I used an oscillating tool and my jigsaw. I also ran into an issue where the left speaker had wood blocking at the height I wanted to install so my jigsaw instantly slowed down as I cut through it. I had to use the oscillating tool to get the rest of the blocking and finally ripped it out. On the right side, that is actually an external wall below the soffit, so I had insulation in there. I had to really push that insulation down to fit the speaker in the wall. To the left there was a 3-4 stud post that I couldn’t mount the speaker to, so that was really the only spot.

As for the actual sound, the MAG6 LCR speakers sound amazing. Even though its 2.0, voices are extremely clear and both movies and TV sound great since the speakers are so responsive. No sluggish response, no distortion, just extremely clear audio. The only minor complaint is that this is a 2.1 amp but no Sub is included, you can add your own with a coax connector which I will do to bring back the subwoofer boom in movies and music.

The amp is actually the Sonos Amp, they have partnered with Sonance and while they sound similar they are not affiliated other than this partnership, which works extremely well given they are both geared toward audiophiles with a minimalist footprint. Setup is simple through the Sonos app, and the unit has binding posts or takes banana plugs on the backside. As mentioned it has an output for Subwoofer. The downside is it does not have an HDMI pass through, it only takes HDMI ARC input, so you will effectively lose an HDMI input on your TV.

I did not actually use the behind-TV mounting kit since I already had a concealed setup with my HDMI cables and power fed through the wall studs and my video game consoles and TV box inside my media console. I actually want the Sonos Amp in the console as well so I can control it or reset it if I want without removing the TV.

Overall I think this is an excellent kit that sounds amazing, you can even use the speakers with an Atmos or multi channel amp down the road if you like. However, I don’t think the pricing is right on this kit. It’s currently on sale at BestBuy so the price is more in-line, but the amp is $650 and the MAG6 speakers are somewhere between the VP62 and VP66 at $300-600 each. The rest of the kit like the mounting system and cable conceal kit couldn’t possibly cost more than a few hundred dollars. I know the cable conceal kit I got were roughly $60.

If you want a kit that includes everything you need (except speaker wire) this is a great kit, otherwise I would consider only getting the parts you really need individually.

INSTALLATION

Let me start off by admitting that I am in no way a professional installer. Not even close. I do consider myself an avid DIY’er and not afraid to tackle most home theater installations, wiring changes, light remodel items, etc. That being said, if you don’t consider yourself a moderate to advanced DIY’er or are not comfortable with basic electrical or wiring, this kit is best off left installed by a professional.

When presented with this kit, I found the concept to be very appealing. One complete kit that organized your stuff behind your wall mounted flat panel TV. It includes an awesome Sonos amp, 2 very nice Sonance Mag 6 LCR speakers, and everything you need to get power into the box. Unfortunately, this kit is no exception.

Sonance did their homework when designing the dimensions of the metal box. The box is approximately 13 inches wide, by 14 inches tall and about 3 inches deep. It is designed to fit in an ordinary 2 x 4 studded wall cavity where the studs are 16 inches on center. A wall utilizing 2 x 4 studs, 16 inches on center is pretty much the standard for building codes across the U.S. Understand, that if you choose to mount this box on an exterior wall, you will need to remove most all insulation from behind the metal box and from behind the speakers to get them to fit. Choose your mounting location wisely.

MOUNTING SYSTEM

Like I stated earlier, the metal in-wall mounting system was of great interest to me. I have always wanted a tidier way to mount items behind my flat panel TV’s. I’ve always prided myself in my abilities to mount my TV’s and hide any and all wiring, making for a complete and custom looking installation. But, in the end, there is only just so much room behind a wall mounted TV and while I am always able to get power, cable, and ethernet to my TV’s without running any unsightly cabling up the walls, there are always compromises behind the TV for mounting things like cable boxes, etc. I couldn’t wait to try this out. Cutting open the shipping box honestly left me quite disappointed. My hopes of a fancy mounting solution with custom brackets, modular components, and specifically engineered accessories were immediately shattered. Quite honestly, the only unique product to this system is the single, flat bracket that mounts to the back of the Sonos amp to mount it in the box. Everything else seems like an afterthought. Reinforcing that opinion was the fact that everything besides the speakers, mounting box, and amp were just thrown in bottom of the product’s box. I had to dig through the box to get all the loose screws, grommets, spacers, etc. They didn’t fall out of a plastic bag or anything, they were literally just loose items, thrown in the bottom of the kit. Not a good start.

Like I stated, everything else aside from the mounting box and back plate of the amp are just plain off the shelf parts. Not that it is necessarily a negative. Quite honestly, maybe I had my expectations set too high. I had assumed at the price point, this was some fancy well engineered kit, but again, fully admit that was just my expectations, so that is on me. For example, while the small power strip fit perfectly in the bottom of the box, the solution sent to get power into the concealment from your existing power in your house is unnecessarily complicated and quiet honestly a waste of time. I didn’t use any of it. I found it difficult and cumbersome trying to get all those pieces routed and connected, so much so, that I went to “Big Orange” and bought a 15amp outlet, cover plate, and old work box (you know the ones that have the little ears that swing out when you tighten them in a whole in your drywall). Simpler, easier, more professional looking. Done.

AUDIO PERFORMANCE

Luckily the audio performance saved this system from a 2-star rating. This is not only my first Sonos product, it is my first set of Sonance speakers. I’ve seen Sonance around for years, but have never given them much of a shot. I nearly always choose a Sonance competitor when I set up a new theater for myself or friends. My go-to speakers used to be a boutique brand, sold only at custom A/V installers, before they branched out to Magnolias and other authorized retailers. While I wouldn’t say I’m an audiophile, per se, I definitely consider myself an audio snob. I would rather not listen to any music than to listen to music through a cheap set of speakers with metallic tweeters so harsh, they make your head hurt. No thanks!

The Sonance speakers sound quite good. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised! Are they perfect? No. But they do sound very good. Each Sonance speaker houses two 6.5-inch glass fiber cones and a 1-inch silk dome tweeter. Sonance claims frequency response is 45Hz to 20kHz with a 90dB sensitivity. That is pretty much par for the course for this type of speaker and similar to Sonance’s competitors. Reviewing speakers is difficult. Everyone’s opinions are subjective and what I like, isn’t necessarily what the next person will like. To me, I like the performance a well-designed electrostatic tweeter, followed by an aluminum (or better yet, titanium) dome tweeter. Again, it has to be well designed. If not, those hard-domed tweeters suck and ruin your music. Done correctly, a hard-domed tweeter has a much brighter, more detailed, and clearer top end than any soft dome (again, this is my opinion). The Sonance is no exception. However, for a soft domed tweeter, these speakers sound great up top. They are more laid back and subtle than what I own from their competitor, but what they give up in brightness, they make up for in clarity. The only real flaw I could find in the Sonance speaker is an odd shallowness I hear right around the crossover frequency of the tweeter and woofers. Vocals get shallower in that part of the frequency spectrum. However, once the frequency rises above or below that odd crossover-ish area, things get back to normal. This is one of the few in-walls I have had (I’ve had a lot from many different manufacturers) that have decent extension in the lower octaves. I’ve seen a lot of speakers fall off sharply below around 200Hz and their bass just seams to fizzle before a sub jumps in and saves the day, but these Sonance speakers do a great job of maintaining the full-bodied sound down in the lower octaves, making for a very natural and smooth transition to the sub (not included). Job well done!

FINAL THOUGHTS

If I were judging the product simply on the mounting box and accessories, I’d probably give this product a 2. The only really custom piece in the whole kit is the one lone bracket that holds the amp to the mounting box. Everything else seems like an afterthought. Additionally, once the Sonos amp is mounted in the box, there isn’t room for much of anything else. Not a DirectTV receiver, nothing. I was able to squeeze in a 5-port gigabit switch, but that was about it.

Thankfully, the amp and Sonance speakers steal the show, and so they should. The Sonos amp works great and provides plenty of power for the Sonance speakers. You can push these speakers to fairly loud volumes without the amp sounding thin and strained. The speakers’ sensitivity and power rating pair nicely to the specs of the amp. Like I stated earlier, these speakers aren’t perfect, none are. Speaker opinions are like belly buttons, everybody has one and some have more than one opinion. At the end of the day, I think any one who buys the system will enjoy the flexibility it offers. The Sonos infrastructure is excellent and works flawlessly. Music, even lossy music, sounds great on the Sonance / Sonos system. Add to that, the Amp has an HDMI input for hooking up to your ARC port on your TV, just makes the system that much better. If that wasn’t enough, the Sonos infrastructure allows you to add a full surround sound set up using this configuration as a starting point, is just icing on the cake. If all you have used is your TV’s speakers for audio, you will never go back after getting this system. It will spoil you instantly.

This is a great setup for any one that wants big sound and doesn't have/want to take up a lot of space with tower speakers and a receiver. The install is very clean. Hiding the amp behind the tv, no one will ever know its there. And it even had some extra room for my apple TV and direct TV box. So no need for a entertainment center or stand.

I am very pleased with the crisp clean sound even at high levels these speakers produce. From movie night to jamming out when cleaning, these sound great. I have this unit installed in my bedroom but it is more than suitable for the main living room.

If you are handy with tools the install is fairly easy. Find your studs, cut 3 holes in the drywall, and depending on the size of your tv you may need an 18" installer drill bit to hit the stud in between your holes. I already had power behind my tv so that made it a little easier for me.

After the install just download the Sonos app if you don't have it. And it will walk you though the set up process that is fast and easy. The app is easy to navigate through and use. And it also works with google assistant and amazon alexa.

I am a Sonos fanatic!!! We have speakers in nearly every room of the house. From regular speakers, to smart speakers, to sound bars, to the subwoofer for our surround sound. This package intrigued me. We currently have the outdoor version of Sonace which included Magnolia speakers and a Sonos Amp. The setup was easy, and use has been just as easy!

The reason I bring this up is that it played into my reason for going with this package. Initially looking at the packaging and the fact that there was drywall cutting and fishing of wires, could be a deterrent for some. I’ll tell you right now. If you are capable of some remedial home repair activities and can follow instructions, this system is a breeze and it looks slick!!! The toughest part will be getting the speaker wires past wall studs if you go out far enough to encounter them. If getting to studs is an issue for you, although it be a minor blemish in appearance, you could always feed the speaker wires on the outside of the wall and use a single wire adhesive channel for running the wires externally.

Packaging was what is to be expected with a Sonace system. Solid and compartmentalized for each step. One package of parts was taped to the main box and had opened up. I was able to find all of the hardware pieces, but it should be noted that this bag may rip and send parts throughout the box. Other than that, the boxing makes it simple to follow through with each of the steps in installation.

You will need some tools depending on your setup and placement of the system. I would definitely plan out and measure this system a day or two beforehand. Then, come back and make sure you will be happy with your ideas. This isn’t something you can just “move a few screw” to adjust.

There are certain components in the box which I will describe. The first is the Sonos AMP. I had one before I purchased this package, but this is the newer model. It only has limited inputs (one HDMI in, one RCA input and an ethernet passthrough for internet if Wi-Fi is not an option. Output is by speaker cable (+/-). A fairly smart option is that it gives you the ability to connect via threaded wires or banana clip. While this isn’t important for this setup, if you were to use a different set of speakers with the amp, it is a feature that would prove quite useful. Now although the inputs are limited, the fact that it is a Sonos product makes the inputs limitless once it is connected to your system. For example, if my Sonos home system had a turntable in say the dining room connected to it, I could pipe the music out to this system that I have, for example, in my living room and vice versa. There too many configurations to list, hence why I love Sonos! Another output for the subwoofer is also on the back. Instead of using a third-party sub for this, I would recommend the Sonos subwoofer. It seamlessly connects to this system wirelessly and the quality of sound is superb!

Speaking of sound, these speakers impress! Even the feel of these speakers exudes a solid and well-constructed device! Although the system is a 2.1 sound system, it tops the chart of those limits put in place by only being a two-speaker system. Sound is solid and crisp on all ranges. For TV watching, voices are clear and stand out from the background sounds. In terms of construction, I know it’s a small thing but the wire mesh screen protectors on the front of the speakers are cool. Instead of being the typical plastic tension clips that hold them on that tend to easily snap, Sonace has decided to go with a magnetized system to keep them in place! It’s a small feature, but attention is in the detail and Sonace did a fine job on the details.

Lastly, are the TV box and in-wall wire harnesses. The TV box itself is a simple stamped metal box that you screw in. Not much to it. It’s slightly flimsy but once it’s in the wall and supported, the rigidity sets in. The in-wall wire harness and power supply is pretty cool. I like the way it ports power up to the TV using a proprietary “extension cord.” The only thing I wish it had was a channel for the wires rather than just running them bare behind the wall. If you are installing this in an insulated wall, beware that it may make fishing wires more difficult. I would recommend cutting the hole for the TV box, leaving the TV box out, and running all the wires first. That way you have a big access hole to help make running the wiring easier. Same with the speaker holes.

Then of course the main reason I am a HUGE fan of Sonos products is that it is one of the only systems that will integrate over the three main smart systems (Google Assistant, Siri, and Amazon Alexa). Paired with a smartphone or smart speaker, this system can be controlled over the user’s choice of the three. The system works with Plex, Pandora, SiriusXM, and many other streaming services directly in the app.

I would dare someone to find me a sub-par product from Sonos. And when paired with the Magnolia sound system of speakers, you can go wrong! I would HIGHLY recommend this and any other Sonos system you may think of purchasing!

If you have ever been annoyed by multiple wires, connection boxes, your own indecisiveness as to where to locate your external speakers to best amplify the sound and reduce clutter, etc. when setting up your TV viewing area, then this product was designed for you. Sonance has designed and manufactured a complete TV audio system that mounts into the wall and is designed to hide all wiring and electronics. It enables you to locate and mount your TV on the wall without the need for additional furniture. The system comes with a power bridge or in-wall power kit where all your electrical needs can be managed. It includes two (2) in wall speakers and an amplifier. The end result is a sleek, clean TV viewing area with exceptional audio that is flush with the wall and that can be painted the wall color to blend in and visually disappear.

The Sonance Concealed TV Audio System is based around a bracket box that fits between two - 2 x 4 studs. Drywall the size of the box has to be removed so that the face of the box is flush with the wall and the balance of the box recessed into the wall. This metal box can hold the in-wall power kit, the Sonos AMP, and other streaming devices such as Apple TV, Roku, or Amazon’s Fire Cube. The TV then mounts over this recessed mounting box and hides all of the wires and devices. The in-wall power kit and surge protector fit neatly and hidden in the box and make it possible to hide the wiring and manage it without even calling an electrician.

Chances are you can install all of this professionally yourself if you are willing to take it slow, determine exact locations, use a measuring rule, a level, a straight edge, drywall saw, screw driver, pencil and decide the location of all of the components prior to making any cuts in the drywall, etc. There are templates included in the box, and if you measure and use these templates, the process will go a lot smoother and the finished product will be a professional, neat, and clean installation.

The LCR speakers and Sonas Amp that come with the unit deliver an exceptional quality of sound. Helping to deliver this clear, concise sound are the 6 ½” glass fiber cone woofers in the LCR in-wall speakers, and the capability of each speaker to handle from 5 to 125 watts of power. Individually, the speakers weigh in at 8 pounds and each measure 16.125 high, 8.75 wide and 3.5625 deep. Determining whether to place the speakers horizontally or vertically is strictly up to you and what looks best in your space. The speakers are boxed in a nice white finish, but the speaker’s grill finish is also paintable should you wish to paint them the color of your walls.

When installed, all wires, etc. are neatly concealed. The speakers are mounted within the wall, so they are concealed as well, and the only electronic piece of equipment left lying around is your TV remote. With the Sonance Concealed TV Audio System mounting and designing a clean and sleek TV viewing area becomes automatic and so does the audio because the sound from the speakers is exceptional. I definitely recommend that you take a look at this product for your own use.

The manufacturer warrants both parts and labor for one year.

The Sonance MAG system is a superior home audio platform that packs a huge punch! While the installation may frighten some, it is actually super easy (about as difficult as mounting a flat screen TV to the wall and running the wires behind the wall). On to the sound quality: Amazing! Superior Highs and Mids, the bass is subtle but you will hear it. Every style of music has exquisite clarity throughout the volume range, if you're using the system for Gaming, TV or Movie night, you will not be disappointed by any means. You can easily add other Sonos products to create a massive sound experience in your home, one that could rival some concerts. The App works great, it allows you to play with the built in EQ, swap between Airplay and A/V input cables. I am very happy with this system.

Big sound from a small package

I have to say, this system really impressed me. From the installation to the performance, this is definitely a quality system which performs amazingly. From the beginning I knew that the installation would be a breeze as I’ve previously installed an in-wall power kit. There is an in-wall kit included with this system which makes hiding wires do easy. The slightly tricky part came in with the installation of the back box. Since I already have my tv mounted, I ran into a stud along the spot where I initially wanted to mount the box. Luckily, I was able to get it installed slightly to the side of where I initially planned for the box.

The speaker install was even easier, as I had equally open and available space along both sides of the TV. I used the template and made sure everything was level, and boom.....wall speakers are in! Personally I wanted to keep the speaker covers off because I love the look and appearance of the speakers, the design is sleek to me. But, I decided to use the covers for the time being.

And now for the sound......wow, simply wow! The clarity I hear in these speakers is amazing, even at higher volume these speakers perform flawlessly. The clarity in voices whether on tv or movies, it’s phenomenal...crisp, precise, and without any distortion. I even streamed music through the app. And yet again, I’m pleased. With the types of music I listened to, there were areas of very high frequencies, which the tweeters handled with ease. No hissing, no distortion again, just pure sharp sound. However, I definitely have 2 gripes with this system. First and foremost, no subwoofer! Ok, I get it, the emphasis is on the amp and speakers. But I’m the type that likes to be fully immersed in what I’m listening to, and that’s just impossible without a proper subwoofer. Of course You have the ability to add one to the system, but I think having a subwoofer already included would be the cherry on top! The 6.5” mids have very good bass response. With action & sci-fi movies I noticed no bottoming out or distortion during moments of deeper bass frequencies, nor during punchy bass tones. Second, there’s only 1 hdmi port! Maybe I’m losing it, but I could have sworn this system was described as to being able to add this system to an already existing sound bar. Unless there’s a sound bar within this “family” which has a special connection or just allows the addition via optical cable, I just don’t see how this would be possible.

All in all, I would absolutely recommend this system to someone, in hopes that they enjoy the sound as much as I do. I’ll say this is a solid 4.0 out of 5.

I had bought A pair years ago for my old house. When I moved I just had to take them with me and replace with less expensive klipsh for the buyers. I tried them out for the few weeks before I moved and did not even come close to the quality of the b&w. I now installed these in my new home and bought another pair of the same so they all match and have equal sound distribution. I have 4 of these now hooked up to a Sonos amp and they sound amazing. FYI the Sonos amp is 250w total so these speakers are getting 62.5 watts each and are way louder then you would need. Unless you don’t like your neighbors. The speaker says 100 watts peak power . No way do you need that much power . I keep these speakers with the volume way lower then they can handle right now as it is. But they have plenty of room for more .

Purchased a pair a couple years ago. Mounted them in the backyard. They look and sound just as they did when new. Just purchased another pair for the patio!

I've installed several outdoor speakers from various brands and these B&W speakers are by far the best in terms of installation, sound, and design. These use a single swing arm style mounting mechanism with integrated wiring and terminals. The way they mount is very unique compared to other offerings. The overall fit and finish give a very clean install. Keep in mind that prior install preparation and technique will always yield a flawless installation regardless of the speaker choice.

The sound is incredible. If matched to a good amplifier with adequate power these will more than satisfy your sound needs. For their size, they provide a great amount of bass projection and clarity. In part due to the bass radiator design on the back of the speaker housing and the shape/construction of the housing.

While these are not inexpensive, you are getting a well-crafted speaker that meets and exceeds all requirements for an outdoor speaker compared to others in this category.

These outdoor speakers were so easy to install and the SOUND is crisp and there is no distortion when the volume goes up. Great sound and clarity through the back yard. The invisible wire mounts are great. I also purchased a received that my Magnolia Sales person recommended which is everything he said it was and more. I love my back yard sounds.

As for the sound quality, I am truly impressed with the ability to differentiate between sounds when I am listening to either a movie or music. It definitely was worth the money and above all, the time to research and read the multiple positive reviews.. Will definitely buy more B&W products..

I had a 5.1 surround system in place and I really wanted to get the Atmos configuration, for which I needed the addition of this product. Now I have a 5.1.2 system and I am happy with it, but maybe I get 2 additional ones plus another subwoofer to get a final 5.2.4 configuration, which I am sure it will be close the circle really good.

We listened to these in the sound studio and they are getting installed today! We cannot wait!

I've only owned this speaker for a few hours. I originally bought the Motion 30i to go with my left/right Motion 60XTi's. Then after a month of listening to them, I was sure the Motion 30i wasn't a good match for the other ones. So I returned it and bought the Motion 50XTi instead.

After only listening to it for a few hours, I can confidently say this speaker sounds great and integrates very well with my Motion 60XTi's and the Dynamo 1600X sub, Dialogs are much clearer now, and also much more distinguishable from the ambient sound in the movies.

Very happy with my purchase now.

I had a Polk Audio center speaker for a long time. When watching movies, I always had difficulty hear the conversations. I though that it must be my hearing problem. After I replace it with this Motion 50XTi center speaker, the difference in conversation clarity is dramatic. Now I know what I was missing.

Anyway, I went to Magnolia to replace my 25 year old Infinity speakers. Some speakers I listened to, just seem to fill the room with sound.

But, the Martin Logan speakers were spot on with crystal clear clarity and the most natural sounding. The bass is awesome as well. No distortion.

Originally purchased the 40i Motion towers, 15i Bookshelves and a 30i center. Returned the 30 center for the 50x for a better match for my new 40i towers. What a difference! I listen to both movies and music and again the clarity, natural sound and bass is incredible.

Also, my Denon 3000 series would always run hot and now does not get hot at all, even with action movies at a higher volume. Extremely Pleased.

I've watched a lot of movies since I purchased this a month ago and the sound is very good. It has a surprising amount of bass which in most surround setups you don't need as much from a center channel but it does sound nice compared to my previous center channel. It's pretty big and takes up a good amount of space on our entertainment table so be wary of that.

I bought the 5 and had to return it and get the 6. The clarity in having a bigger center speaker was well worth the $100 in cost. I am loving this speaker.

Martin Logan makes excellent speakers. They are worth the cost, but they definitely hurt the wallet. They should last for years so they are a buy once, hurt once situation.

Wow, What a difference!

Home theater requires the center speaker to be one of the most important parts of the surround experience. This Motion 50XTi Center blows me away with the clarity. punch and fullness! Dialog becomes unmistakable, even with poorly mixed audio sources. Crystal clear yet smooth and never harsh or thin sounding. Music is no exception either. Comes through w/ a feeling of being there.

Perfect match if you have the higher quality Motion series towers and/ or surrounds. I replaced an audiophile Definitive Technology Center, and I have to say I am very happy with the result. The def tech was great, but this one is fantastic. Perfect+ w/ my Motion 60XT towers. A keeper for certain.

OK, The installation of this speaker was so easy, the sound is great and the look&feel is just amazing, I installed it on an accent wall with stone tiles and the white cover was just perfect for that wall... everyone ask me all the time about the speakers.

These speakers are easy to install and have better than expected sound for an in-wall. I'm using them for a 5.1.2 setup and am happy with the purchase. I painted the grills by thinning down the wall paint and spraying 3 thin coats.

Great for surround speaker use. I would not recommend for a left, right, or center channels. I use it as surround left and right and it does a great job! I also has matching in ceiling sonance speakers as well. All perform well as surrounds.

Bought on an open box deal. Did not have mounting brackets but I placed them on speaker stands. They fit well on the stands. I have them connected to a marantz sr7013 and using for surrounds. Works and sounds awesome for surround. They can go low enough on hz that they provide bass for surrounds. Crystal clear sound hear every detail. Wish I could find two more so I can add a rear surround channel also.

Bought these to replace a pair of Definitive Tech BP2X surrounds. I recently purchased a pair of Martin Logan 60xti front channel speakers, and these surrounds complement the 60xti perfectly. The Best Buy web site has an incorrect description for these, so be sure to talk to a Best Buy salesperson.

These rear speakers work well, and are attractive on my wall.

I am already a Martin Logan fan since I already had several of their speakers in my house in various roles. So when it was time to replace the surround speakers in my family room, I naturally thought of ML. I already had ML Motion 30 as a center channel speaker, so these matched the sound quite well. These speakers were at a sweet point price-wise for me and would fit in the location. Being surround speakers, they do not carry the primary portion of the audio, but they do a very good job at this, noticeably much better than the previous speakers. I notice a significant difference in the overall movie and music experience with them. They literally fill the room with sound that was missing before. I think you will be very pleased with these speakers. The shape and dispersion work very well in the surround speaker role. So Yes, I would strongly recommend them. The only reason I did not give them a 5 star is that I think that is what I would have given the more expensive FX2. However, these are terrific speakers and would make a good addition to a system.

I ordered them through the Best Buy online service and picked them up at my local store hassle-free. They were ready and I was in and out (I opted to go inside instead of curbside pickup) in no time.

Love these speakers. Previous house owner had rectangular in-wall speakers placed in room ceilings. Some 35 years later they were completely shot. These B&W CWM362's fit the bill. they sound great and fit the openings filled by the "old" speakers.

The sound quality is a little hit or miss when i listen carefully... but i hooked them up under a soffit with HVAC - use caution to avoid echo effect.

I already had in-wall speakers installed in my family room, but they were contractor-grade. The sound was inferior and I desperately needed an upgrade. Based on the configuration of my room, bookshelf speakers would not work for me. On the recommendation of the Magnolia system designer, I purchased a pair of the Bowers & Wilkins CWM362's for my front L and R speakers. What an improvement! Installed in a proper enclosure, these are as good as bookshelf speakers and they definitely met my needs.

Bought these speakers as surround rear speakers in a 5.1 setup. Speakers are a good size. The overall construction is typical Bowers and Wilkins quality. Speakers sound great especially if paired with a properly sized receiver. Installation was also very easy since they provide a template as well as a dust cover.

I recently bought the Sonos Beam Gen 2 to boost the sound quality of my TV, movie, music, YouTube experience. At the store, I wasn't too impressed with the sound quality of any of the sound bars on display, but knowing other people with Sonos products (Play 1s, One SLs, etc.) I knew how good they could sound in an apartment, home, etc.

Set up was a breeze with the NFC on an iPhone 13 Pro. I was initially really impressed with the sound quality of the Beam connected to my 2015 Samsung TV (ARC HDMI port). It wasn't until I switched the audio format to DTS Neo 2.5 (Samsung DTS Digital format) that I was truly blown away. I can't get Atmos sound through my TV, but wow the clarity, power, and bass of the soundbar alone still heavily exceeded my expectations. I actually messaged my neighbor to let them know I'd gotten a new speaker and give them the freedom to message me if my music or movie watching ever got too loud! Movies and TV are especially fantastic via DTS 5.1 audio. The channel and range separation is done well and both provide a very immersive audio experience. My audio quality test for headphones is always "Long After You're Gone (High Quality) Audiophiles Music" on YouTube which was re-engineered by a audiofile engineering company based out of Germany. The beam did not disappoint and with the Speech Enhancement mode on, the Beam displayed its ability to pump out exceptional, high-quality sound. I was pleasantly surprised by its ability to render clear, deep bass responses.

I've now been bitten by the Sonos bug as I went out and got a Sonos One speaker for my bedroom and added the Gen 3 Sub to my Beam setup. I won't go in-depth on either, but the Sub is just stupid powerful. I shakes my entire living room area at a volume level of only 3 or 4 (goes all the way up to 15). The sub is pricy, but you pay for what you get here. Couldn't be happier with my first Sonos experience. FWIW, I decided to purchase a Beam Gen 2 for my parents for Christmas.

Verdict: Great, high-quality soundbar that is surprisingly powerful and offers a fantastic audio upgrade to my entertainment experience. For an even greater theater experience, get the Sub. You won't regret it. That said, the Beam does punch above its weight in many areas.

I bought the Sonos Arc for my bedroom and living room but wanted something smaller for my guest bedroom so I bought the original Beam. It was great but it was missing one feature…Dolby Atmos. The Beam 2 has added Dolby Atmos and improved the vocal audio so now it’s the perfect and best small soundbar. I’ve owned the top of the line soundbars by Samsung, Sony, and LG and they all sounded good for movies but sounded bad for music. None of those brands sells a subwoofer that can hit the low end bass like Sonos.

I do have to issue a disclaimer for the Beam 2 and every soundbar available. The Dolby Atmos effect works best with upfiring speakers in a room with low ceilings but it’s limited. If you want the full Dolby Atmos effect you need rear speakers so you create a sound bubble and then you have sound coming in all directions…only then can you tell sound is being placed left, right, high, or low. I purchased the Beam 2, subwoofer, and 2 Sonos Ones so I get the full surround sound experience and it’s great and worth the money. Not only do movies and music sound great but the Beam 2 is great for gaming. When it comes to negatives…I will say it does get expensive to build out the system and the Beam 2 works way better with a sub, rear speakers, or both.

Surreal sound quality. Very smooth and crisp on TV dialogues and music. On the pictures it’s setting next to 50 inch tv.

I’m very happy with my purchase, it’s far better than my Vizio surround sound system. I paired my beam 2 with two Sonos SL speakers. I’d recommend trying this set up before buying a sub, as it produces enough bass for my liking. Atmos content is limited and I cant really tell the difference between 5.1 and atmos.

Settings:

It took me a while to figure out proper settings. I use Apple TV 4K paired with Samsung 8k. You need to change Samsung audio processing to “pass-through” or you will experience severe lag while watching atmos content. Also, I had to force Apple TV audio to Dolby 5.1 (see picture) when watching 5.1 content or else the speakers would crack occasionally.

I returned my Bose Soundbar 700 for this. Hands down vastly superior to the Bose product that is twice the cost. Setup was super simple, the size is perfect for my 55" TV. It's mind blowing to me how much better the sound is than my Bose. This is my first Sonos product (I've always purchased Bose) and I'm a convert.

Good quality build, modern design. I’ve heard Sonos is good for music and Bose good for movies, but in my opinion this soundbar sounds GREAT for both! Sound is loud and immersive, sounds like you’re at the movies! Dolby Atmos sounds awesome, even though the beam 2 uses a virtual function for Atmos instead of actual upward speakers! It has good bass, and that’s without adjusting the equalizer in the Sonos app!

This soundbar has some cool features through the app that aren’t offered by Bose and other brands. Alexa function works good, and I’m able to control the TV using Alexa. The Wifi at home has not been affected by adding the Beam 2. The White beam 2 looks good, especially if you’re getting the white sub too!

Excellent sound quality for such a small package. There are cheaper options that offer Dolby Atmos and include a subwoofer and surround sound speakers. However, in my experience, the sound quality and ease of use do not compare. With the Beam, you have the option of adding a subwoofer and speakers if you choose. I personally am holding off until I am out of an apartment complex.

In terms of sound, I found that I needed to tweak the stings a bit to get the sound that I wanted, but that was personal preference. The soundbar worked with my C1 flawlessly when plugged into the eARC port.

My only criticism is that I sometimes find dialogue difficult to make out in movies, It is often drowned out a little bit by the score. However, reading other reviews, I think this can be solved by tweaking the settings a little bit more.

Overall, the Beam is a fantastic soundbar in a small package, ideal for smallish rooms with a lot of expandability options. It is not perfect, but for the price and size you cannot go wrong.

The Beam is the newest Soundbar from Sonos. It's smaller than the original Soundbar, simpler to connect and adds Alexa voice integration and Apple Airplay 2.

Like other Sonos speakers, sound is rich and clear. Through the controller app, there's a room specific calibration, eq, night mode and voice enhancement settings. It does, as expected, produce a much richer sound than the TV speakers. It has four woofers and one tweeter.

As a member of the Sonos system, the soundbar can optionally be paired with a Sonos subwoofer and a pair of Sonos speakers (Play:1 or Sonos One) as surround speakers. In this set up all the speakers work together in a group like a single system.

Airplay 2 allows to use the whole Sonos system in addition to grouping Apple TVs (4 or newer) to play music from any app on iOS or macOS.

Connecting it requires a power cable and HDMI 'ARC' from a TV: Most newer TVs have a single HDMI connector that's designated 'ARC' (Audio Return Channel), so whatever audio comes with the video on the TV is transmitted back through this port. Additionally the speaker can turn on or off the TV and the TV can control the volume via the CEC signal that’s transmitted via the same HDMI cable. The drawback is that this uses one of the few HDMI inputs on the TV.

The 2017 model TV we're using the Beam with has 4 HDMI ports, but only two of these are 4K, ad one of these two is the ARC port (HDMI 2 in our case). So there is only one HDMI 4K port left that's where we have an AppleTV.

Sonos Beam also has an alternative connection adapter that takes an optical audio input, found in most TVs (TOSLINK) and connects to the HDMI input on the speaker. The soundbar won't be able to turn the TV on or off (via Alexa) with this system.

The Beam also has an infrared receiver that learns the volume commands from the TV remote.

Because of this excellent integration, it doesn't have a separate remote control. It just works with either the TV's remote of the AppleTV remote in our case (The AppleTV uses the HDMI CEC connection to get the volume controls across).

Setting up the Beam requires a phone or tablet: Download the app, start it, and then press the pairing button on the Beam, and within seconds it connected, asked for WiFi connection and was set up. It didn't require the phone to pair with a temporary WiFi network like other speakers do. It's very simple to do. In my experience simpler than setting up the Echo or other speakers.

The soundbar doesn't have a Bluetooth connection like other speakers do, but the Sonos system is fantastic. It connects to every single music provider I could think of, including Apple Music (Not just Airplay 2 but native integration), Spotify, Pandora, Google Play, Internet radio, Plex, etc. Also, if using iOS, Airplay 2 is a better choice than Bluetooth.

Then there is Alexa integration. While it's not the same as an Echo device (It's an 'Alexa enabled device'), it does pretty much anything an Echo does but doesn't currently support communications, drop ins or announcements, also doesn't join Echo music groups, although I can tell an Echo speaker to play music on the Sonos. Also, and this is different than other Echo speakers: When it wakes up with the Alexa keyword and is listening to a command it plays a chime. This is to announce that it's listening, but Echo devices don't do this and I initially found it very distracting, although after a week got used to it.

Note that while voice with Alexa can control a Sonos playlist, if asking Alexa to play something it works like Echo devices, as it plays from the music sources configured in the Alexa App.

There are four touch-sensitive buttons (not physical buttons, they're part of the surface, touch sensitive): Volume up/down, play/pause and mic button. There is a small white light for the mic button and a small light for the play button that changes color/intensity depending on what it's doing. It's quite faint and not distracting.

The soundbar itself is quite compact, and while it's primarily designed to be sitting on a TV stand, it can also be wall-mounted, but the wall mount is extra. I'm disappointed that the wall mount didn't come with it because it doesn't use standard mounts. Sonos sells a custom wall mount for the Beam and a 3rd party mount to use as an under-cabinet speaker. The mount was quite expensive although I'm impressed how well it's made. It's a thick metal piece. The mounting holes fit like a glove, it has a felt backing so it doesn't mar the wall and is very simple to install either between beams or with anchors.

Where do I begin? I have had this speaker for 5 days now and I am amazed by the sound, design and functionality.

I am new to Sonos in the last few weeks; I have Play Ones throughout the house, so I was definitely interested in the Beam for my office TV. Like all Sonos speakers, the Beam is packaged nicely and easy to get up and running. Simply plug in for power and run the included HDMI cable to your tv's "ARC" HDMI connection. I'm no techie, but it seems as if ARC gives you some two-way options as opposed to just sending audio and video. It allows a simpler connection to the tv, no need to program a remote and it also can turn the TV on when directed to. I love that.

I have had Amazon branded Alexa devices throughout my home and have added smart lighting, switches and TV controls to complement my Alexa setup. The only issue was sound quality which is what led me to Sonos. The "Ones" blew me away and I was excited to try the Beam and replace an Alexa device in my office. The Beam has the same Alexa controls on the top center of the speaker that are on the One. Setting up Alexa through the Sonos and Alexa app is simple but these do not play as friendly as say an Echo. You cannot rename devices or customize alerts, etc, in the Alexa app. I am confident that these are options that will be added in the future, but I am ok with losing those options if it means superior audio. I will say that having Sonos Alexa devices throughout the home is a little more confusing than the Amazon branded devices as they do not pick up on the closest speaker like Echo's do. At times, when saying Alexa, multiple speakers are ready to listen and sometimes the closest one is not the one listening.

I have the Beam in my office hooked up to a TV that runs off of an Amazon Fire TV. This is a nice combo as i can turn on the TV with my voice and have some control of content and TV volume. Again, I find that Echo devices play better with the Fire TV as well, but I'm sure that will be fixed. Any knocks on Alexa functionality is forgotten when you turn on your tv and hear the amazing sound coming from the Beam. I have Polk Omni sound bars in 2 other rooms and the Beam blows them away, but not on bass. Each sound is heard clearly and sounds beautiful, not just at high volumes. There are great options to hear voices better and a night mode so I do not disturb the neighbors late at night and still have great sound. There is plenty of bass for me in my office from the Beam, but if I had this in my larger living room, I would definitely want to add the Sonos subwoofer. In a smaller room, this is not needed, this speaker rocks!

One of my knocks of the Polk sound bars are that they do not sound great playing music. This is not the case with the Beam. It sounds as good as the Sonos One Stereo pair setup in my living room, if not better. To me, this is one of the features that separates the Beam from other sound bars, the music sounds incredible. Switching back and forth between TV and music is easy to do with the TV and the Sonos App.

I also tried a setup with 2 "ones" as rear speakers and it created an incredible surround sound experience. In this setup I would definitely recommend a sub, more bass was needed, but it still sounded fantastic.

Conveniently enough, Airplay 2 is now supported by Sonos and I find it more reliable than choosing music through the Sonos app, but maybe I just have to get used it. The app seems to get confused by audio playing from different sources and it is something I need to get adjusted to. It is much better than the Play-Fi app, but it needs some improvement. More Alexa customizations and creating groups that can be saved would be nice.

The speaker is elegant, blends in well and the sound is mind blowing, great job Sonos. The Beam is a bargain at $399 and I plan on adding another one in my bedroom.

For the record, I have 4 pairs of standalone tower speakers by different brands but I don't use them since you need to be hooked to the power plant directly to run them. Sonos does speaker optimization like no other. You can listen to this speaker at 45db (quiet library) average and enjoy all the nuances of the proper recording. Deezer offers you 5 band EQ just in case you are not happy with the Sonos one. So unless you are a bass chaser this does not require the Subwoofer as most other small speakers do. TV aspect I won't even review since it covers a wide gamut of bad broadcast quality. If you are not an "Audiophile" snob you'll agree this is the best bang for the buck.

First off the speaker sounds fantastic, providing impressive range and presence for its diminutive size (2.75” tall, 25.5” wide, & 4” deep). Setup was simple and straightforward. The Beam interfaces with your TV using ARC via an HDMI cable., making the setup fairly simply if your TV supports it. Otherwise, Sonos provides an adapter to convert it to optical audio (toslink). I opted to connect the Beam via ethernet, but it can be connected to your network wirelessly via a dated 802.11 b/g or to a speaker mesh (SonosNet).

Adding Alexa (Google Assistant wasn’t available at time of writing) required bouncing between services in order to allow access and add the device, which is straightforward for most. Alexa worked on the Beam as well as any other echo device I have used. Setting timers, asking questions, and playing music all performed as expected. I don’t use Alexa often so I appreciate that Sonos put the an LED on the same circuit as the physical microphone, providing a visual indicator of when it is on. The microphone must also be enabled or disabled by physically touching the controls on the Beam, another privacy detail Sonos considered. Airplay 2 worked well, playing music on the Beam from my iPhone or HomePod when requested.

I actually find the Beam sounds better then my single HomePod, providing a much richer sound that fills the room. Even out of the box I was surprised by bass response from 4 small woofers and clarity from a single tweeter. After optimizing the soundbar for my living room (17’x17’) using TruePlay in the Sonos app, the spatial audio improved further. Filling the space with immersive sound, the Beam is surprisingly effective considering it’s footprint.

The Beam can even be expanded into a full 5.1 system by adding two rears and a sub. As mentioned the bass is great, but not quite as good as a soundbar and dedicated sub combined. Unfortunately, the Sonos sub offered costs more then the Beam itself! I would like to see Sonos offer a slightly cheaper sub, but that isn’t an issue with the Beam. I’m also not a fan of the fabric grill on the Beam as opposed to the perforated hard surface on the Sonos One. If you are in the niche market shopping for a smart speaker and soundbar to use in the same room, Sonos has you covered. However, I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a discrete soundbar with great sound that can also integrate with practically any music service or platform.

Growing up in an audiophile home I was very quick to scoff at the Sonos products. But like most young men, I had a young lady start hanging around and my large Klipsch speakers with a “confusing” receiver had to leave the living room.

Little did I know that Sonos products were an easy, user friendly, and surprising high quality sounding solution. I bought this Beam first to help keep my setup clean and was so impressed I added two Play1s as my surrounds!

Setup was a breeze (no running speaker wires a breath of fresh air) and once I tuned the system I was very impressed with the sound.

I was a little reluctant on this system because I was used to the traditional "theater in a box" systems with 5 speakers. I am using this Beam Soundbar with a Sonos subwoofer and only two side speakers. The sound is far better than my old Samsung 5-speaker system.

As for the setup ... there are absolutely no instructions other than "download the app and follow the instructions." That is frustrating when the app doesn't find some of the products. It found the subwoofer and the bar but had trouble locating the side speakers. You have to do things in the correct order. I had to delete the app, download it again and start over. When I was finally successful I was pleased but it was frustrating.

I bought 2 pairs of these to use as Atmos overhead channels in my 7.2.4 setup. They are crisp, clean and have all the punch needed for a superb Atmos experience. My go-to demo with these has been the bluray of Midway. Lots of active Atmos scenes are present throughout the film, and it's a great movie as well. When I eventually upgrade to a 3rd pair of in-ceiling speakers for Auro 3D, I'll likely grab another pair of these.

I installed these in my bathroom recently and they sound great! Very low profile, they just disappear on the ceiling.

These speakers are pretty great. I was extremely surprised of the clarity and the bass. I will say though be careful with the clips as they are very sensitive and if you break them you are in for a bumpy ride. The speakers come with nice wire terminals and they are pretty strong. But I am most impressed with the sound. I have the SC-82 Pioneer Elite and that thing is powerful and they handled the power pretty well. I also have the 8 inch ones and those are great too. Give them a shot you wont be disappointed. I was happy that Best buy had them although I did get a second pair cheaper on Amazon. No offense Best Buy!

These Yamaha speakers have a clear, good sound! Installation in a drop ceiling was easy. Would recommend and purchase again!

These are great for a commercial space. Bought these for my sister's salon and the pair alone provide clear sound for 900 sf. Comes with a template to cut out circle from Ceiling Tile.

These have been even better than I had anticipated. The sound reaches out from our store easily across the entire parking lot. I even had a lady from a salon come in and ask where she could purchase similar equipment and have it installed because she was so impressed.

For the money, these speakers are good. I think they're older or lower end, so I may have gone with better ones, but they sound good and work well with our surround sound system.

Sonance - Outdoor Streaming Music System Powered By Sonos

Our days of schlepping our assortment of bluetooth speakers out to the back deck are over. In fact, after an afternoon listening to these as I prepare to mount them on my back deck, I wondered what took me so long to explore the Sonos systems. This Sonance/Sonos speaker is an environmentally impervious solution that sounds really good. It’s really really good. It visually disappears into our outdoor architecture. (Unless you take advantage of the ability to paint them, which I’m about to do …. brilliantly.) It’s easy to understand how the Sonos-based whole-house systems have gained so much popularity. Sonance’s speakers surprised me with their ability to fill an outdoor space with rich, broad range music and dialog. As you can see from my photos, I’ve decided to make my speakers portable, while still taking advantage of their outdoor features. I created my own stands, so I move my speakers from the TV area, to the BBQ area, to my spa area. The best of all worlds.

WHAT IS THIS? A simplified outdoor audio system including …

The SONANCE speakers (2 in this kit) requiring wires connected to the AMP. Put’em where you want’em. This is very low voltage wiring so moisture is not an issue. The speakers are NOT wireless, not Bluetooth, not Wi-Fi. The speakers are IP-66 waterproof rated and conform to Mil Spec 810 for humidity, salt spray, temperature and UV.

The Sonos amp only needs a power outlet and those wires to the speaker. The amp needs more care in its placement, tucked away from water, but it looks pretty rugged. I’ve got mine near my outdoor TV. The amp cannot send audio wirelessly to the speakers.

SETUP is centered around the SONOS AMP with its WiFi, etc connectivity. The specifications describe 125watts for each of 2 channels (requires speaker cable, not included). The primary source of music is a lengthy list of streaming providers (TIDAL Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora, etc) as well as any music I have on my Mac Music App, made available on the home Wi-Fi. The AMP’s 2 speaker connectors conceal the fact that you can double up wiring and easily power 2 pairs of speakers. [There is some commentary on the Sonos forums suggesting a 3rd pair right be added. Talk to Sonus support before you try this.] [About Sonos support: They are great. I needed them for an issue I had setting up the AMP. The CHAT queue was a 5 minute wait, and they took all the time needed to resolve my issue. Patient, knowledgeable, competent. ]

The Sonos Amp will connect to Wi-Fi, ethernet (in/out), HDMI ARC for TV, a subwoofer output for a speaker you might own (or buy), right and left speaker outputs which are ready for banana plugs. A traditional RCA audio input allows for a turntable or CD player input.

The stereo channels are an expected feature, but there is also a Mono mode, letting you over-ride the stereo signal coming into the amp in those situations where your speakers aren’t distributed in an ideal physical configuration. In my setup I wanted to distribute sound from the TV to a sitting area or maybe music to the spa area. Which brings us to ……

MONO Mode (and why you care): In a typical family room or even bedroom you will create a “stage” where you’ll center your TV and music media. The recording helps create the stage illusion using either stereo or fully surround tracks. But what happens on your patio or around your pool or spa? Sure, you might be able to recreate a stage, but I’d bet, just as often, you’d prioritize reaching areas with sound, often with a single speaker. The ability to merge stereo tracks into a MONO signal ensures that everyone hears the entire performance, and not just the performers on one side of the stage. So, in my situation, I can mount one speaker closer to the TV and another closer to the spa, and merge the stereo signals. I can see I’ll be adding another pair of speakers for each area, but I won’t need another amp.

HDMI ARC for TV: I have a patio TV for those times when I don’t want to miss a broadcast game while I’m getting some fresh air or time in the spa. Modern TV’s have only OK sound from they built-in speakers, and they definitely struggle in an open-air setting. I can’t imagine anyone daring to install home audio equipment outside. SONOS’s versatile Amp has this totally covered, providing a link to your TV audio output and managing to deliver that sound around your outside living space. The MONO mode is especially useful, again.

OPERATION and SOUND:

The SONOS App manages to be comprehensive, controlling a complex system of any Sonos or attached speakers you might have, while also managing your array of media sources and a broad collection of media. I spend most of time switching between Pandora’s various “stations” I personally set up for me, or my music library on my laptop computer and all my playlists, or my the TV that’s attached to the AMP by an HDMI cable. It’s all very easy. It all adds to a feeling that you’re in control of the technology and not trapped in it.

How it sounds

I love to be wowed by audio/video equipment, and the Sonance/Sonos system I’m reviewing certainly surprised me. Delivering a nice music experience or satisfying sound for outdoor living spaces is not easy. It’s not just about the weather. There are typically no walls or even ceilings to reflect back sound and the “floor” may also be very sound absorbing dirt or grass. The Sonance Speakers do a wonderful job working in the wide open area of my deck area and they easily distribute the TV sound across the entire living space. Sonance has built in a reasonable amount of bass reinforcement, which are the tones most likely to get lost in an open area. The resulting sound is very well balanced. But, it’s also rich and “big”, having no trouble filling a larger area.

SUMMARY:

Bringing audio outdoors is a feat few companies have mastered. Accomplishing this in a way that builds seamlessly off of your whole house, indoor-centered, system is an even bigger accomplishment. Sonance powered by SONOS has earned its place as a premier outdoor music solution. It sounds great. It is pretty flexible in how and where you mount it, but you need to be aware of where the wires are installed. You can add it to a pre-existing Sonos system with no effort at all, connecting it to all of your current media sources. Or, start with this outdoor system and you’ll see how easy it is to bring it all inside. It’s not inexpensive, but who else is doing all of this so nicely? Recommended.

I finally installed an outdoor speaker system in my backyard. Whenever I had a patio event or screen projection outdoor movies, it was some inconvenience using portable speakers and especially putting them away before the blood-sucking mosquitos come out. This system is a great idea for a permanent outdoor entertainment solution rather than many portable outdoor speakers. A dedicated setup will allow a better listening experience.

This Sonos Amp is a smart amplifier that powers passive speakers (indoor/outdoor), transmitting an impressive 125 watts of power per channel. The speakers are loud and deliver a pristine sound. The casing is made of hard solid glass fiber, and its mounting brackets are solid metal (probably aluminum), both of which have a good coat of matte white eggshell color. The texture feels a bit like a smooth eggshell, and I believe this is so one can paint over them (prime surface).

What makes this smart is the wireless streaming from a huge selection of music streaming services, such as Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Music, and lots more. Note that the Bluetooth capability is just for the Sonos app; you can’t stream directly from a streaming music service app. Basically, you allow the Sonos app access to your streaming service, and you only use the Sonos app for the Amp system. The exception to this is If you have an Apple device, you can stream straight to the Amp via Airplay. Overall, the steaming of music works perfectly.

Compared to traditional amplifiers, this system doesn’t take a lot of space and uses the least amount of wires. The front of the Amp has the basic touch buttons, play/pause, and volume control. This minimalistic look allows the placement of the amplifier in any room in the house. The back of the system is the main power cord connection, two speaker terminals (set includes banana plugs for simplified and neat connection), an RCA line (optional connection of a turntable, a CD player, or any other audio component), a line-out for a subwoofer (not included), and an HDMI ARC for TV. I use the HDMI connection to watch a movie when I have an outdoor movie projection. If you want to use a 3.5 mm stereo female AUX, use a 2-RCA male adapter and connect it to the RCA line in the Amp.

The connection cables allowed are up to 14-gauge (not included). The outdoor speaker connects using the wires to the Sonos Amp, which must be placed indoors. For best performance, I mounted my speakers at ear levels. With the impressive 125 watts of power per channel, I am sure you can connect two and maybe three speakers per channel.

Conclusion: Properly installed, the speakers and the Amp will give you many years of outdoor entertainment. One of the biggest benefits of having a separate amplifier and speaker system is the capability to upgrade any of them in the future. But, rest assured that the Sonance system will provide many years of entertainment pleasure. This system is truly a perfect outdoor entertainment; it is all-weather resistance, loud and delivers pristine sound all the time, and looks very nice.

First impression can be summed up in one word, Wow. The speakers are artfully designed, they look fantastic, and you can see immediately that there are serious engineering and production skills that speak to a company with experience. These speakers are the first time I have ever seen a Sonance product, and I am sold. As a tagline, I have always had top-shelve speakers in my home and can tell you this set is a winner. Excuse my many adjectives, but at times reviewing a new product is pure joy.

The weight of the amp and speakers is 14lbs which is fairly heavy for bookshelf size speakers, have found weightier amps and speakers typically produce the best sounds.

Now on to Setup – you need speaker wire; I used 16 gauge which works well and easy to install.

The All-Weather speakers have an environmental range of -13 to 140 degrees. Gone are the days of lugging my Bluetooth speaker to and from my garage in hot/cold weather. Love it!

The speakers are IP-66 waterproof rated, this spec I had to look up:

“A rating of IP66 means that the product is fully protected against

dust and solid objects. Moreover, the product is protected against powerful water jets projected by a nozzle (12.5mm) from any directions.”

Additionally, the speakers are Mil-Spec 810 which protects the system speakers from humidity, salt spray, and UV rays.

Mil-Spec 810:

“Part One of MIL-STD-810 describes management, engineering, and technical roles in the environmental design and test tailoring process. It focuses on the process of tailoring design and test criteria to the specific environmental conditions an equipment item is likely to encounter during its service life.”

Bottom-line, these speakers are made to take the weather in effectively any environment. The design and construction are seriously incredible, that Sonance developed speakers that work in wide-ranging climate ranges and deliver wonderfully rich music. Being a techy audio person, I am clearly astonished at Sonance’s technology and more to the point, the tunes.

Sounds great and easy to install. You’ll need to buy speaker cable to hook it up. No distortion and no rattling at all at all volume levels. Recommend.

I installed this sonos amp and snace mag speakers in my back yard. The music streaming services are endless, from Pandora to SiriusXM, YouTube music, music on your phone or tablet, amazon music, newly added sonos radio and on....

Installation is easy, I simply mounted my outdoor speakers to the lower half of my siding where I knew there was a 2x12 for a solid attachment, then drilled two 1/2" holes for my shielded speakers wire, along with 4 holes per speaker mount. Then I ran my speaker wire through my basement drop ceiling into my wall cavity to my entertainment center where my sonos amp is installed. Connect the amp to the speaker wire, then I plugged the amp into my other sonos amp with ethernet cable for internet connection. Next just plug in the power cord and connect to the sonos amp for setup.

The sound and volume is incredible, totally fills my backyard and them some with audiophile sound outdoors. These speakers have nice rounded sound with perfect highs and boomy bass. I like that you can tweak the EQ in the sonos ap settings, there's also a Loudness setting which I keep Off.

I now find myself wanting to find excuses to enjoy my backyard more now, since I have endless music that sounds great on tap. I highly recommend giving this sonos amp and sonace speakers try. You will not be disappointed.

- it’s ip66 weather proofing, so you shouldn’t have any problem or worried about it getting wet all year around.

- let’s talk about how it sounds coz these speaker are amazing, so for those thinking these are weak, you will be surprised.

- but of course these speakers will need to be powered with sonos amp that came with the speaker, that’s when these speaker is about to go to a whole new level of outdoor sounds.

- the amp is the real star of the show, it gives the speaker the access to be able to be used on literary anything you can connect to your phone.

I have enjoy listening to Sonace outdoor speaker for almost a week now, from the audio quality that this speaker and sonos brings is amazing, say good by to my small bluetooth speaker I used to listen to outside, now these outdoor speaker just competed what I needed for a great experience.

I had been looking for a permanent music solution for my new patio for some time when I came across the Sonance Outdoor Streaming System. Knowing how excellent Sonos equipment is, I jumped right on this system. Once unboxed, I set it up temporarily on my workbench in the garage to do the initial network connections and some basic testing (didn’t want to start drilling holes only to find out there was an issue after the fact).

After tracking down some speaker wire, which for some strange reason is not included in the box, I downloaded the new Sonos app (S2) as the original app is not compatible and began the amp setup. In the meantime, I wired each speaker to the amp. An interesting design note here—the wire feeds through a grommet in the rear of the speaker and the actual connections are made in the front and are covered by a dust cap.

At this point, the amp had finished connecting to my network and going through the obligatory update. I had absolutely no hiccups during the initial setup process and it was as simple as following the on-screen prompts. It took about 10 minutes start to finish. Now it was time to see what this thing could do, but the app is not super intuitive on how to actually start playing music. After digging around a bit, I figured out how to add my streaming music services of choice (there are a lot of choices here so your favorite or two should definitely be there) and authorize Sonos to access them. I went ahead and set up my Alexa account while I was at it so I could have voice control should that be necessary. I also found and tweaked the EQ (in settings select system, then look for your amp under products, then scroll down to sound to find the EQ) which obviously had to be tweaked again once I actually had music playing in the final location.

Back into the app to play some music. There is no intuitive way to play a specific song or station from a desired music service. At least not that I’ve been able to find. Since this is billed as a “streaming system” I would expect the app to be more streaming friendly. Fortunately, there are some easy work-arounds. First, there is a search function that will look for your selection across all of your enabled and linked accounts. Not ideal for me but its there. Second, and much simpler if you have an iOS device, is that the Sonos amp supports Airplay so you can go to your normal app and just cast directly to the system. That has been my go-to and it has worked well for me so far.

Once I got all of that figured out, I got to experience the awesome sound of this system. Although the bass won’t rattle the neighbor’s windows, the overall sound quality is phenomenal especially considering these are outdoor speakers. The highs are crisp and clean, the bass is punchy enough to know it’s there, and the mids stay right where they are supposed to. After fiddling around in awe listening to different genres I decided I had to get these things mounted.

I installed the included mounting brackets to the rear of my house near the eave and drilled holes through the wall into my attached garage making sure they were just slightly larger than the speaker wire my wife had gone to Best Buy to purchase while I was playing…I mean testing. I fished the wires through the holes from the inside, through the grommets in the speakers, and snapped the speakers in place. After making the connections (which again are in the front), I pulled the excess wire back into the garage and made the final connections to the amp inside. Although it should be obvious, it is worth noting the speakers are weather resistant but the amp certainly is not and should be installed in a protected space. Total install in the final location took less than 20 minutes for me but your mileage may vary. After some minor positioning and EQ tweaks, I was done and have been out on the patio listening to music at every possible moment since! Everyone who has come by has commented on how clean the install is and how great the sound pumping out of these speakers is. They are not small by any stretch but the color blends very well with my home’s trimwork so they don’t stick out like a sore thumb, much to my wife’s liking. You can paint the grills if you’d prefer them to be a different color and you can also remove the Sonance badge from the grills if you feel that necessary.

Overall, I cannot say enough about the Sonance Streaming System. Apart from my small beef with the app design as far as music playback, I have no complaints and no longer have to pull out multiple Bluetooth speakers and link them together to enjoy music all across my backyard and pool area. I just can’t wait to be able to have parties again to really let the neighbors hear what this thing can do!

I installed these in my 9.2. I used them as my rear height speakers. I am running Klipsch HD 500s for everything else. Sounds great. Would highly recommend.

I installed them about a 2 weeks ago for Dolby Atmos. Great speakers. If you are looking for speakers with ability to modify direction, then check out the other Klipsch speakers. They will be more expensive.

Bought 4 of these speakers to replace our ceiling mounted Bose “brick” surround sound system.

Mounted these speakers flush to the vaulted ceiling where our Bose were mounted.

In my opinion there was no loss on sound quality by replacing the old Bose speakers.

I installed 3 pairs, they look and work/sound great. Part of 11 channel system and they really move the sound image around the room for immersive movie watching. Easy to install, spend the money on a drill and hole saw attachment, they will pop in super easy.

Beautiful speaker with clear crisp sound! All around great speaker!

I chose these Klipsch speakers for two separate 5.1 channel surround systems in my home. In my previous home, i had used some high-end Speakercraft AIM8 ceiling speakers, but needing ten of them for this project, I was looking for something more economical. Based on the reviews, these Klipsch speakers seemed to fit my needs.

Installation was easy. First I made a trip to the attic to choose appropriate locations and run my speaker wire. From below, I used the included templates to mark and cut holes. For each one, I connected the wires, inserted the speaker into the ceiling, and ran down the screws to secure the clamps behind the sheetrock. The magnetic grilles have very thin bezels which make them look clean and professional.

The sound is great. I really have no complaints. Every program I have thrown at these sounds very good. Lacking the ability to aim these, they fire straight down, but my rooks have 10 foot ceilings and are not very large, so the listening angle is fairly good. Although these are rated down to 57 hertz, I suspect they are not very efficient having only a 6.5 inch woofer, so I have my AV receiver crossover set fairly high (100 hertz).

I really only have two minor complaints about these. First, the terminals use spring clips instead of lugs. Also, they are made in China. But honestly, that's the worst thing I can say about them.

Installed these bad boys in my ceiling along side the rest of klipch system and these made all the difference. Strong loud speakers! Sometimes my guests will turn around thinking someone or something is making sound behind them but it’s just these! Plus playing music around the house with these are amazing.

I was looking for an inexpensive pair of speakers can put outside on a vacation home and was very surprised with the sound that I get out of these speakers my neighbor likes them too

These speakers sound great for the price. I replaced a set of Dual outdoor speakers that lasted 9 years so I hope these Yamaha speakers last as long. For best results install the speakers under your deck so that the sound is not blasting into your ears. Much easier to hear your guests talking when the sound is underneath you and it helps to improve the bass. The picture I am attaching to this review shows where I installed my speakers under my deck. This also helps to protect the speakers from the weather.

Not the greatest sound, but you get what you pay for! I use it for background music on my patio. Sounds a lot better than the small, portable radio I used to listen to out there. Fits nicely under the overhang & easy to install. I have to be careful not to “crank it up” too much because my amplifier puts out more than the speakers can handle! But for my purposes - music you can play while still having a conversation - it word well. Anything “better” was over twice the cost.

I had a pair of smaller speakers that are under my deck and point out to my back yard. After about 5 years one of them failed and went looking for a better pair. I found these and they appeared well matched in power and impedance to my Onkyo amplifier. They crank and provide crystal clear sound to my whole back yard and underdeck living room and bar.

For the cost and being an outdoor speaker, remarkable sound. Lets see if the survive a couple midwestern winters with snow and winds off the lake.

I own 3 sets of these speakers now because I was satisfied with the first pair I bought. I have one pair in the front porch and two pairs in the back where I have the parties. I have them hooked up to a 5.1 receiver and the sound quality is awesome!! You don't get a lot of bass out of them but they still sound nice and also you can hear them several houses down when the volume is on hi.

Easy to install and they have awesome sound. Very Happy with them.

I did a lot of research on some outdoor speaker and based on the previous reviews i went with these and I love them. I have them hooked up to Zone 2 of my Yamaha receiver and i can be outside and change the song, input, and volume all from my iPhone. I had the speakers turned down and went to the end of my yard and you could still hear them which is great.

Went between these and the DefTech 6500's. These are used around our new pool so I went with the 5500. Man I LOVE them. Running through a Denon Amp and the sound is amazing. Would 100% buy again. I have a lot of DefTech and never have I been wrong getting them. Quality!

I mounted two of these above/behind the listener/viewer. (Indoors)

They have a very strong output, including bass. I often forget they are there until music or a movie call for them, but THEN they get my attention! Exactly the effect I was looking for when I designed my system. I've thought about adding a few for the backyard, but I'm afraid I'd blow the neighbors away. :-)

i bought them to replace broken speakers outside. these are great. has more power than i need and the sound quality is crisp and clear.

Polk a well known brand that last and do what they are suppose to do, Without breaking the bank, bought these to support Dolby Atom also running Polk L/C/R in front, the rear surround another brand but sound very good alone with a Velodyne VX sub for added sound effects & bass. My theater has all Polk.

Using these in my theater room for Dolby Atmos. They are fantastic for that reason. Great price (got them for 53.99) and great sound. My atmos Setup is insane now.

I love polks sound. They have a warm tone and when I saw they were timbre matched for TSi series speakers (I own TSi-200 speakers) I knew what to expect and these meet that expectation. I ended up buying these as Atmos speakers for a 5.1.2 setup in my finished basement. I liked that the tweeters are directional. I have the crossovers on my receiver set to 90hz on these because while rated much lower, the output is weak.

The install couldn't be easier, and the magnetic grills blend right in with a perfectly flush fit even with my textured ceiling. I did buy a large roll of R12 insulation meant for 2x4 walls to stuff in behind the speakers. I know without insulation they can have a tin sound and lack bass.

I bought two for my mini home cinema to use as top front atmos speakers. They are easy to install as they come with a template to cut in the ceiling. You just need a screw driver to install them.

They sound nice and clear. They go well with my Polk signature series speakers I have for the other channels. The speaker cover is magnetic and looks awesome in white as it blends well enough into the ceiling and looks flush and modern.

Using these on a 13' vaulted ceiling for Dolby Atmos speakers. Great sounding speakers for a good price. Using with a Yamaha TSR-700 receiver as a 5.1.2 system.

I have this speaker as a pair for my Atmos height. One word describes the quality of sound: awesome. I know that Polk makes good quality but I questioned how good they'd be. Never again will I do such a thing. Family is pleased as well. Everything sounds clear.

The sound quality of this Sonance speaker kit is truly amazing. My previous audio setup was a Visio sound bar, and the difference between that sound bar and these MAG Series Premium 6-1/2” speakers is night and day. The quality and audio depth is perfect for any basement home theater setup. The installation of the LCR and surround speakers are fairly easy and straightforward. Cutting Templates are provided which is a huge help. I’m using the subwoofer via the provided wireless connection kit. Getting that working proved to be slightly challenging because the instructions are lacking details.

Overall: 5 stars. Would recommend because buying this Sonance speaker kit because of the value and initial quality. Buying these Sonance speakers individually would be expensive so it’s great that they’re offered in this kit together at a savings. I love the speakers and have no regrets, despite the steep price tag. Initial speaker quality is great 1 week after install and I’m hoping and expecting they last a long time.

Awesome sound system for the family room! We wanted to go all out when we upgraded our entertainment center, especially with a new TV. We’ve been wanting to get a surround sound system for a while, and this was definitely a great choice. Plus it was at an amazing discounted price when we got it, so we couldn’t pass it up!

These speakers have taken my home theater to another level! Plus I got them at a great deal at Best Buy. I highly recommend this sound system.

Speakers start to destort when you push then to their limits. They sound fine fir day to day system, but if you want to get obnoxious and crank it all the time, then these are not for you

These sound good not great. I thought I was getting a great deal, but this kit seems to be on perpetual sale - like those mattress stores in strip malls. Also sales guy was adamant the sub was not wireless, but it actually is (or at least can be). Meh.

Decent speakers, thought there would be hardware for ceiling mounting though

I just moved into a new house that was pre-wired for surround sound, and the only place to put the rears was in the ceiling, so I did a little research and decided on the RC80i's to go with my rti 10 fronts and Denon receiver. I got a few ideas off of youtube for installation, and it was pretty simple and straightforward. They sound fantastic! I previously had monitor 30's for my rears, and these sound more seamless, and match up with the rest of my equipment very well. Maybe it's because of them being higher than the old speakers, but it's almost like they're not there, but the sound is great. I would definitely recommend these to anyone needing ceiling speakers.

We purchased these speakers for our patio. When they came they were to small for the hole that the builder cut. Best Buy found another speaker and solved the problem.

After reading multiple reviews on several different in ceiling speakers I ended up choosing the Polk RC80i solely because of the bass specs. I was looking for a speaker with deep bass, which the Polk was unable to deliver. While on the other hand the mids and highs did stand about average with cheaper speakers I heard in the past. As for the overall construction of the speaker, it was noticeable cheap and lacked that "solid" feeling.

All four speakers have sound issues. Sounds as if coming up out of a well. Could be issues other than the speakers. Haven't found them yet if so. Still looking for a reason other than the speakers. Really good product historically.

I purchased 6 of these for my small restaurant driven by AudioSource AMP 1200 in bridged mode (80 RMS watts @ 8-ohms). Music or TV audio plays through them 12 hours a day – 7 days a week (mind you I’m using these indoors not out). They are mounted 11ft high, angled down towards the customers; each speaker covers about 400 sq ft. of sound

Mounting them was super easy and the speaker swivel helps aim them. They only weigh about 10lbs and can be mounted vertical or horizontally. I used 50lbs rated - metal drywall anchors to mount these speakers on my ½” thick drywalls (I mounted it vertically so that I can aim up\down)

The sensitivity of these speakers are high (92db), which is a good thing in that they do not require a lot of power for them to get loud; therefor I only have them turned about 50% of the way up to produce 55-58db of background music. During sporting events, I’ll turn it up about 70% of the volume (producing about 82-85db) so that they can still be heard over the cheering crowd. Trust me these speaker can go very loud without much effort.

With the amp that I have powering these, the highs and mids sound crystal clear and no distortion at high volumes. The wall facing 5.5" x 10" low pass radiator speaker produces some bass (tight punch), but quickly fades away the further you get from the speaker. The bass is better than its outdoor competitor, but you’ll need a subwoofer if you want the lower frequencies, there’s just no way around that fact.

Designed for outdoors, I see no issues of these going bad anytime soon using indoors and the 5 year factory warranty is a huge plus.

I did test the speakers out with my Denon AVR Receiver (100 watts RMS) at home and sounded fantastic for music and movies. The bass is a bit more present in a smaller 4 closed walled room, but I’d still recommend a subwoofer if you are in search of a bit more bass.

I would highly recommend these speakers for a residential and commercial use.

Great sound, quality product. Product came nicely packaged with detailed installation instructions. I have been a long time Definitive enthusiast so I had high hopes for these speakers. These speakers do not disappoint!

I mounted them horizontally on the ceiling of our patio, which is just vinyl siding covering up the ceiling joists. We added "studs" between the joists so we could mount them onto solid wood. I put rubber washers between the bracket and the vinyl and there is no rattling or vibration of the siding. The design of the bracket makes for easy adjustment to ensure a straight and level installation. I mounted the bracket 7" from the wall. There is not much clearance between the speaker and the bracket so using banana plugs for the wires makes for a tight fit. Connected the speakers to Zone 2 of a Denon 2307, using an Apple Airport Express to play music from our iOS devices. The patio is 30x15 with another 50ft stretching out for the pool area - these speakers fill the whole space with crisp sound even when only using a moderate volume. We are extremely satisfied and would recommend these speakers to anyone who is sound quality conscious and looking to improve their outdoor space. You get what you pay for, and these are worth the money!

I spent a great deal of time searching for a good sounding outdoor speaker. I tried the Yamaha NS-AW390BL and they had no bass to speak of and the sound quality wasn't much better. I listened to the Klipsch AW 650 and they sounded good. I wasn't able to listen to the Def Tech's before purchasing so knowing my experience with Def Tech quality and reading tons of good reviews, I took a chance and ordered. This speaker has amazing sound quality and bass, even outdoors. I have these connected to a Sonos Connect amp. Since the speakers are 8 ohms they're only receiving 55 watts each. Even still these speakers are loud and are a audiophiles dream come true for outdoors. These speakers are a larger speaker, but still tucked neatly under my soffits. Sure these are a little more expensive than the others, but they are well worth the money. If you just want something to make some noise out side, don't waste the extra money on the Def Tech's. However, if you're an audiophile that enjoys a well balanced great sounding speaker, then AW6500's are what you want.

Amazing speakers! I have them situation pn a screened in porch near the screen portion (somewhat exposed to moisture and rain). I purchased these in 2020 and they still look brand new. I am very pleased with the quality of sound. They get loud and two is sufficient for my 550 sf porch as well as my entire backyard. These things jam!

I’m a huge fan of definitive technology stuff and I do like the mids and highs on these speakers but definitely need power to push them. The bass is ok but you have to remember they are outdoor speakers

I love these speakers. I bought these about a year ago for my large backyard for swimming parties. Cranked these up very loud and they rocked the parties.

I’m a long time Definitive fan so when it came time to replace the Paradigm Stylus 370 speakers in my backyard the Definitive AW6500 were the only choice for me. These produce great highs and mid-range but where they really shine is in the lower end. They produce bass that my my former outdoor speakers just couldn’t achieve especially when positioned under an awning where the passive radiator can reflect off a wall.

Very good speakers these are out side, very good sound separation is good as well as bass & treble. I listen to a lot of different music, cd, usb as well as turn table, xm radio pandora. Also use in walls for inside. The outsides speakers are 60 watts not a problem. Very highly recommend.
