Works well! Be aware though, if you have an SUV, you will probably need to purchase an extension cord to get the back camera connected, as the cord that comes with it is not long enough to reach the back window. I had an exiting 6' male to female 3.5 mm audio extension cord that worked.

This is a great dash cam mount. Just be sure you choose the right model for your dash cam, though. The compatibility requires a bit of research.

I wanted a non-permanent dashcam mounting solution and this was the one specific for my model. It works fine. I'm a little concerned about durability, but it was so cheap that if I need to buy another one in the future, it won't be financially painful.

Worked great. As advertised. Bought a cheaper look alike that indicated as good as the original. Wasted money. Don’t waste your time on cheap knock off and but the real thing.

Seems to work at advertised. It was installed by the Best Buy installers and works just fine.

This HU was installed using the wiring harness and Steering Wheel Controls (SWC) along with the mounting and trim hardware from SpiralAudio.com to retain OEM functionality and appearance.

Also installed a Pioneer ND-BC8 backup camera which I tucked up under the trim piece above the rear license plate. Routing the cable safely inside the trunk lid and through the existing flexible wiring holder, around the convertible top mechanism, under the passenger door sill trim, behind the glove box, and into the HU cavity was the most time-consuming task. The Pioneer ND-BC8 has both an RCA Video plug and the ground and 12V fused feed at the dashboard end of the cable.

Standard the 2007 Saab Aero comes with two amplifiers, one for the FL, FR, RL, and RR speakers, the other for the 12-inch woofer behind the back seat for a total of 300 Watts. The Pioneer HU was unleashed latent sound quality and amplitude that just was not there with the OEM HU!! IT’S LOUD!!

Overall, the head unit is exceptionally good and has great functionality like HD Radio, iPod integration, Android Auto, 2 camera inputs, and so on.

My only criticism that cost the review one star is that the screen just isn’t bright enough, especially in a convertible.

I bought this HU mainly on availability, most HUs are out of stock/on backorder due to the pandemic-induced supply chain issues, and I wasn’t going to spend $800 on a $199 list price HU!!

Apart from the lack of screen brightness, this is a great HU and camera duo.

I LOVE this radio! My car is over 10 years old and i feel like I have a new car with this new gadget. I bought it mainly for safety. I no longer have to look down at my phone to change a song or illegally read a text. Siri does it all for me. Great investment.

Great headunit, With HD radio, the main reason i choose this model from another model that was cheaper. Carplay is a game changer. My kid loves the ablility to watch movies from the usb port.

I installed this into a 2007 Honda Element. It fit perfectly, the features all work very well. CarPlay is flawless. The interface is good. It’s easy to navigate. I’m really happy with having bought this one.

Great head unit that added the style and sound I was looking for in my 2013 Wrangler. For the price, you can’t go wrong! Graphic EQ is user friendly and allows easy ability to get just the right sound. Love how responsive the touchscreen is. Would highly recommend!

Fantastic unit, great screen and picture. Apple Carplay works flawlessly. The 13-band EQ is nice and the overall use is easy as the interface is very intuitive. The touchscreen is smooth and responsive. Sound quality is good, but I do have all speakers on amps so I only use the RCA pre-outs. This is night and day better than my old Sony AVX-1000AX.

FINALLY installed this on my truck. Sounds great and looks great!

A couple of things to note:

1. This radio says "XM Ready" which means you MUST buy an XM receiver in order for this to have XM capabilities. Once you get the receiver installed, it works great...just realize that this does not come with the receiver.

2. Also, if you are new to these, go research the parking brake hookup as well and do what you need to do.

3. If you want your steering wheel controls to work, you need to buy a thing for it as well. It was a pain to put in, but I got my working just great!

Overall it sounds great, and it has tons of cool features. Very happy!!!

I love the way it looks on the back of my 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited Altitude. Having an additional brake light and back up light is great too. Combined with the Alpine X209-WRA-OR the guide lines are very helpful. There is not much else to say. It does what it is designed to do. The install at Best Buy was 100% professional.

Need Alpine adapter harness and programing module ( I used a OBD Genie module to make it work with factory radio), once all done it works well, clean and integrated, plan on another $220 for the additional items

I have a 2005 Toyota Matrix and I love my car but did not like being without Bluetooth for my phone and my Apple Music play. I also purchased a backup camera and I feel like I’m driving a brand new car. It works flawlessly and sounds great with my original 6 speakers.

Had installed in my 16 year old daughter’s 2011 F150 and works great. Really updated the truck with Apple car play for easy streaming of favorite music, maps and SIRI. Especially like the added backup camera since truck did not have one from factory.

Bought this as an upgrade from my stock stereo on my Nissan Sentra. The Apple car play itself is worth the upgrade, system works smoothly and have had no issues

The deck pairs seamlessly with my iPhone. It’s so cleanly designed and it’s completely non distracting while driving. So nice to always have navigation at the ready and CarPlay cleverly allows instant access to your three most used most recent apps. So switching between podcasts, music and maps is a breeze.

Pretty good receiver to replace original unit in an old Lexus

Amazing unit for people that don’t have room for a double din stereo, or simply don’t want to destroy the dash to put one in. Love my 2006 BMW 325i, it just needed to be current with technology, and this stereo completed my wish! Some people might complain about the screen, but we have a couple of 2015 cars that have the same type of screen. If you want an “IPad touch feel” than this is not for you as those are twice the price! If you just want a screen that can go in when you want or out, then get this radio! Apple car play and Bluetooth work amazing! I don’t mind plugging in the wired connection as anything is better than what I had before. I am so excited to have Sirius XM as before I had the portable XM radio with all types of wires all over my car and now with the module connection to the back of this radio I have no wires on my dash! I often find myself excuses just to drive around now, I love it!!

This radio had everything I was looking for: Bluetooth, USB port for charging and Apple Car Play function. Everything else is just a bonus. It has hands free calling, reads your text message, you can verbally reply to the text message and say"Send" and it'll send it. Yes, I know it has a DVD player/CD player but I wasn't interested in those features since this was a gift and the person using this radio doesn't listen to CD's and I was uncomfortable splicing into the parking brake to have the DVD feature to work when the car is parked. If you don't want to modify your dash, or a double DIN radio just doesn't fit but you want modern features, this is the solution. The car that I installed it in looks like it always belonged in there.

Bought this radio because a double din would not work in my application but still wanted a bigger screen. So far I am very happy with my purchase. Bluetooth is easy to connect and just as easy to switch between when multiple devices are connected. Android Auto works flawlessly with my galaxy s10. Most importantly the sound quality is excellent and adjusting the eq is simple with a wide range of frequencies. The only reason for the 4 star rating is because of the price compared to a comparable double din.

when I first got there I was told my purchase was missing parts and I had to contact the manufacturer to get them. Turns out the parts came to $60 dollars with shipping..at that point I wasn't happy.

But the installer and the manager Made me happy by covering the costs of the parts AND the shipping.

This worked great on our Q800 Pro installation. Had no problems with it. Wires are decent quality, though I am not a fan of the barrel style fuse holders as they add bulk to the harness. Regardless, I was able to fairly easily route the harness from the rear view mirror of our 2015 BMW X5 to the necessary fuses to tap. Simple product that does its job. Better if you can get it on sale like we did.

The installation was easy even with very generalized instructions. The instructions don’t say where to attach each wire. At first I didn’t see any labeling on the red and yellow wires, but on the fuse holder for the red wire it says constant 12v. So I attached the red wire to a constant power source and the yellow to an ignition on power source. The park mode on the dash cam wouldn’t work with this hook up. Then I reinspected my wiring and saw a small black band on the red and yellow wires with a microscopic font saying the red was for ignition and the yellow for constant power. After switching the wires, the dash cam worked perfectly

If you hate cables running up your dash and in you line of view like me you must have this with your install. If you are not mechanically inclined I would not recommend you doing this on your own because you have to tap in to fuses on your vehicle and test for power. Also you need to know what type of fuses your car uses and purchase two add a fuse taps because they do not come with it. This dashcam is worth every penny. The image quality is extremely clear. License plates are easily readable. A few days after getting my dash cam installed, I narrowly avoided an accident after someone rolled through a stop sign and cut me off. Although nothing happened, it is reassuring to know I would have captured the entire incident if something did. Highly recommend this cam.

The reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because the app is a little hard to connect to the dashcam. After many tries and a few choice words I believe I got it. You have to unconnect and reconnect and make sure your mobile data is off. Have to connect it each time you want to review your footage. I am not saying this happens to everyone but for me it does. Plus side... The picture quality is amazing! I love how it shows your speed on the videos. In case someone says your speeding etc its already there so you have your proof! The installation was a breeze even with a very hyper 6 year old (helping lol). I did try calling their number for help on the connect issue but they says because of covid yiu have to email which was 0 help. All in all iv happy with the purchase.

This is a great investment for any vehicle to protect yourself from dishonest people. The video quality is great, and installation only took about an hour. Just make sure you have a good field of vision (nothing blocking the camera's view) before mounting it because once it's stuck, it's stuck! The tool to hide the wires under the vehicle trim was very simple to use and helpful. Setup was a little "clunky" because without reading the quick start guide, I was kinda lost. But once I got everything figured out, and got the Rexing Connect app up and running I'm good to go now. We are considering getting another one for our other vehicle and definitely recommend this one.

I purchased this dash cam for my daily commute vehicle and I loved it so much that I purchased two more for my wife and son’s vehicles. My phone easily connects to its built-in Wi-Fi. However, Best Buy’s hardwire installation performance was not up to par.

This dash cam is nice. It record I’m 4K for front and 1080 for rear and quality is pretty good even for night mode. This also have mic record but you can disable it. If you plan to buy this you will need to also buy the memory card and might want to buy the suction dash mount.

I bought this for added protection for my vehicle. The picture quality is excellent even the night vision. However, night vision on the screen itself is hard to see. When transfered you can appreciate the quality. I was disappointed that they removed the " garage monitoring" capabilities. One has to add the firmware to the msd card.

This is the tpp of the line car cam with rexing which has a accident instant freeze and 1080 p on rear camera and 4l camer on frpnt camera. Also parking monitor.

I purchased the Rexing V5 4K Dash Cam with the hope to upgrade my older 1K Pony dash cam. My only requirement was something that gives me crisp quality images. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The image quality far exceeded my expectations and I can make out license plates with ease. The wide 170 degree angle gives me a great view of the road and. The voice control is a new feature and works extremely well.

I do have some suggestions:

• Rexing should update the Quick Start Guide. It is sorely lacking of needed information on how to operate many of the features of the camera.

• The list of voice commands are provided on a separate card and could easily be tossed if not careful. I recommend Rexing post the voice command list on their website next to the digital version of the Quick Start Guide and include it on future versions of the Quick Start Guide.

• Navigating around the menus is confusing. I had to watch a third party YouTube video to teach me how to get around the menus. For example, long pressing some of the buttons is not spelled out in the guide and in general. I think long pressing is not intuitive so suggest added more buttons to simplify the camera operations as I am sure over time I will forget how to navigate the menus.

• The Phone App for playback is extremely slow so I will not be using it for anything. If I need to access the video files on the road, a Micro SD Card Reader to USB Adapter USB-C plugged into a smart phone is my preferred approach.

• The V5 can take still photos but only while plugged in. All prior Dash Cams I owned had a built in battery so you can use them as standalone cameras. The V5 uses a built-in Supercapacitor so there is no way to use the camera standalone. As soon as the power is off, the camera stops running. A portable phone power stick would be a good way to achieve that goal.

• Finally, I emailed Rexing a question and I was pleasantly surprised that I got an answer in 24 hours.

Overall, I would recommend this camera for anyone needed an excellent 4K Dash Cam and not wanting to invest too much money.

Got this to have prove I wasn't responsible if I got in an accident that wasn't my fault.

Two days after it was installed it recorded an incident. The other parties insurance paid for my damages. Mission accomplished.

Easy to install, routing wires for the rear camera and hard wire kit was the tough part. All told it took about three hours to get everything done.

Image quality is good enough for wireless connection to the phone is a good option without taking out the memory.

The only problem is the power connection to the 12V jack. It is not secured very well and sometimes it lost power. I have to push it one more time to make it works.

I don't know whether it is my car problem for the jack size or dashcam power adapter.

This camera was an upgrade to my 10 year old one the picture quality and video quality is amazing this is a perfect way to keep your story straight in a wreck my only complaint is it takes a little time to get used to getting video through the cameras Wi-Fi to your device but all in all I’m happy

Although I enjoy the camera, i always have trouble connecting and viewing my videos. I have to manually remove the SD card and see view them on my computer.

This is also ONE PIECE.. Thats the part that i don't understand. Its bulky and once you place it on your windshield you cannot remove it without purchasing more stick on pads.

The camera cannot record with all 3 cameras at the same time. Sometimes it does not turn on automatically, it has a long delay time when turning on automatically or when it has the shock detection system

Super clear image, easy to install and I’m really glad I bought it.

I am disabled and in my 60's and it is difficult for me to understand electronics. Although I mentioned this during the installation process, I was told they only install, they don't do step-by-step instructions for comprehension. I'm thinking about returning it and trying another store that will explain how it works and how to operate the Cam. I bought the cam 3 weeks in advance and had to wait until it was shipped to the store, plus I had to book the installation 3 weeks out. After all of that, you'd think they would have helped me.

Just installed a few days ago, pretty straight forward installation and operation, instructions were clear on how to set up. Picture quality seems good, haven’t had any issues so far. I would say it does meet my expectation. I will definitely recommend this to my friends if they need one.

I think this could have been a great stereo, but the choices Pioneer made makes it pretty good for what it is.

Pros:

- Good sound quality. Definite improvement (with stock speakers) over my low-end factory stereo, and the equalizer is very effective.

- Good user interface. Simple physical buttons on the stereo face, simple layout of the app on the phone screen.

- Ability to increase the gain on the Bluetooth source, so it's roughly equalized with the radio.

- Very good phone cradle: sturdy, secure, easy to rotate from landscape to portrait and vice-versa. I particularly like being able to use Google Maps in portrait mode.

- I like the overall physical setup, with a single-DIN stereo that gives me an extra storage spot, and a built-in phone cradle (esthetically more pleasing than one that's connected to the dash or windshield of blocking an air vent).

Cons:

- The voice assistant in the Pioneer app is useless: when I tell it to call someone it either doesn't hear me at all or it doesn't understand me, over and over again. When it finally understood me, it spelled "Allan" as "Allen" and couldn't find the contact in my phone book. Google Assistant works fine through the microphone, so it's not a mic issue.

- Messages through the Pioneer app are useless for me: the only options I have for messaging apps are Facebook and Viber; where the hell is Messages, the built-in Android messaging app?

Overall, I like it, I'm keeping it, but I'm playing with using it in conjunction with Android Auto on my phone to get the most out of it.

I already had kicker speakers installed in my Toyota Corolla. Andrew installed this radio today and I thought I would have a lot of highs and would need a amp to get some bass. Boy was I wrong! This radio sounds amazing. I like my music loud and I honestly don’t think I need a amp. Still getting use to the controls. I really don’t care for the microphone. You have to yell at it but I really don’t care about that to much about that after I heard my radio. Display is pretty basic. Nothing too fancy. I like the apple car play. Plugged my phone in and BOOM it was there. I wish you could hear my car! Those kicker speakers sound Amazing compared to the stock radio. The installation was quick and looks great. You really can’t tell I have a aftermarket radio in the dash. This radio even hooked up to my factory back up camera and the steering wheel controls still work great. Very happy with my purchase and the customer service I received at Bismarck Best Buy. Thank you Andrew!

Nice Upgrade on 2007 Ford F150. Makes older vehicles look modern. I needed to upgrade speakers as well OEM speakers didn't have the clear sound I needed. Android Auto works perfect had my daughter do Apple Play as well they both work fine. Bluetooth works perfect although a few times pressing Pandora on Radio displayed not connected. Quick fix was to link phone up through Android Auto USB then everything synced back together.

This Pioneer consistently amazes me. It is so feature packed, that it took me a while to learn all it can do. This is not to say that it's hard to learn, just that I usually do not lean a feature, until I need to use it. The Apple Car Play, Rear Backup Camera, DVD/CD, Reception, and Sound is phenomenal. The interface with my steering wheel controls works seamlessly, and the SirrusXM had fantastic reception. With everything this unit offers, it is one of the best deals period. Add on top of all of that, Free Instillation, it's hard, if not impossible to beat!!

Bought a JVC 6.8” unit that died on me after just a few months. Best Buy swapped it out with this unit and it works 100% better than the JVC. Screen is a little smaller but I actually like the side panel with physical buttons. A+ Head unit!

I love it, Pioneer always been my choice for car stereos, this Deck does it all, The only issue i have with it is when you watch Youtube videos on it it buffers alot and can be glitchy.

This system has nice, sleek design but I wish the volume buttons were a little bigger. Nice size screen and sinks well with phone for hands free talking.

My old 2005 minivan is now almost as good as having a new car's media center. Apple Car Play is great. I can also listen to my favorite podcast. Good value for the price. I would have done it long time ago if I know there is such good value product.

I had bought a $20 camera on amazon to put in my tailgate handle and it was worthless because the horizontal field of view was so limited. I replaced with this in the exact same position and it was a night and day difference in regards to field of view and being useful for backing up. Highly recommend spending the extra money to get a decent camera like this. I've attached two pictures taken from the exact same position (vehicle didn't move) to illustrate the superior field of view compared with the bargain camera from "TopTierPro TTP-C12B" which claimed to have a 170º viewing angle. The Pioneer camera is supposed to have a horizontal 129º and a vertical 105º however you can see in the pictures it is clearly wider and taller than the cheap 170º camera.

Easy to install nice clear picture day and night good price

So I got this Camera to install on my 2009 Suburban. My Suburban did not come with a backup camera, I wanted it to look Factory, so I bought a GM bezel to attach to the rear applique. This Camera fit inside with a little help (swapped the Allen Key screws for Philips head flat heads from an old computer hard drive...) anyway, supplied cable had 6 inches to spare, running it up the tailgate through the hing boot and then along the passenger side floor boards(in the factory cable track) and up to the head unit. Powered it from the passenger kick panel on a "switched" existing 12 volt supply. (fuse #43) The picture is fine, grainy at night with the OEM backup lamps, but not a fail. Upgraded to LED reverse lamps and the graininess has lessened. Perfect during the daylight. totally recommend this for others to use in their big SUV. Happy Fishing- (Wires that is).

Works perfectly. No problems with it. I love being able to see behind my vehicle. I use it all the time and it comes in handy. The video quality is good too. It doesn't have the guide lines like the newer cars but it gets the job done for me.

I got tired of fighting with Amazon cameras and this one worked easily with me Pioneer head unit without any more effort than running wires. Wiring it is a pain in the butt but doing it once, doing it right and never looking back is worth it. I also had to fabricate a bracket, so It is annoying that this cost as much as it did, but it was worked without a flaw for over a year!

Excellent backup camera great quality nice and clear i like that the can move up and down guidelines or to the sides to adjust. Let see how it does on winter storm or rainy days

It was plug and play with my Kenwood radio but it seems a bit bury. Not the end of the world but I do wish there was a slight bit better definition of what I'm about to back into. Plus I would be able to see how much damage I did without having to get out of the vehicle. jk

My only complain is that it doesn’t have the license plate bracket so what I did it adhere it to my license plate (it does come with an adhesive backing). I do like the camera quality! Maybe the horizontal angle could be better? It’s okay, I can see my bumper, it gets the job done but I liked my previous camera before it popped out on me. Again, camera quality is pretty good!

I can't believe how detailed the picture was when I first used this. Blown away and glad I spent the extra cash for this. Able to use less cable through the car was a huge win as well.

Was not expecting to need this camera interface. Volkswagen makes connecting difficult.

This hardware kit is pricy, but it was worth it. With this I don’t need to see all the wires leading to the dash cam. I used a multi meter and found a fuse that had power when the key was in the ignition and now it turns on automatically when my key is inserted.

This item was getting hard to find and was selling for a ridiculous amounts on Amazon and eBay. So glad Best Buy had it is stock for an appropriate price and they had it ready within an hour of ordering in their app. Pick up process was nice and smooth. Very pleased with the purchase.

Good quality haven’t had any problems with this yet and I don’t think I will. But if I do I know Best Buy geek quad is there to handle the problem.

I bought this to install my 322GW DashCam. Was able to hide wires easily and attach to DashCam base. Connection to under dash fuse box was a little challenging due to location of fuse box. I had to buy a new fuse to plug into the fuse splice connector because the one in my car had legs that were too short to fit in fuse splice. Other than that, everything else was pretty straight forward.

Must have for your nextbase dashcam, never worry about something happening when your not in your car.

Used this to install dash cam, was nice that they included more than one fuse plug; last time I had to go to Auto Zone to get fuses to fit the car.

Great interface for my 2012 Caravan. Now I’m able to unlock the options for backup camera ( used an aftermarket camera), It can also unlock the navigation and add additional cameras. Interface has many other customizable options not mentioned in its description. Amazing deal for the sale price. Shipping was fast also.

I've used 3 dash cams and so far this is the best one. I see a lot of people have issues entering the menu but you have to make sure recording is off. As for the wifi functionality, I have not had any issues at all connecting and can view all my videos pretty easily. The last thing I can suggest is to get a dash cam with an indoor camera just like this one, it SAVED me on my accident and proving I was not at fault.

I installed this dash cam with the hard wiring kit (purchased separately) over the course of one day. Plan your work in advance and learn how to remove trim pieces for a clean and professional install. The camera itself is very easy to set up and the height-adjustable lens is a nice touch for easy leveling. It connected right up and I was able to set my recording options and then get out onto the road.

The daytime recording is high quality and clear. Don't expect miracles with reading license plates although it does a pretty good job of that. I like that I have the option to add the radar unit and rear camera separately if I choose in the future.

I am still playing with the night mode settings as lighted street signs get washed out, but cars show up clearly. I used it in the rain and also had a nice, clear picture. There are cheaper cameras out there, but this one is feature-filled, high quality, and easy to use. It does not disappoint.

The camera itself is great, the software is simple and works. But know before buying how you are going to power it, what you want out of it, and plan ahead. If you are keeping it simple with just the cam and the cig outlet power your good to go, but if you want to take advantage of the other features be prepared to pony up a lot more and deal with some pain's and hidden costs. If you have a larger, longer vehicle or a hatch back and want rear camera you will need to buy another cable, if you want parking monitor you will need to buy the wire kit and battery.

Access to Spotify alone makes this purchase worth it. It's as much fun as getting a TV for the first time. I can choose what bands want to listed to -- things I'd never hear on terrestrial radio like: Dispatch, Lucky Boys Confusion, The Czars, Australian Country Music Artists, almost anything you can imagine!

The user interface can be tricky though. You cannot easily input a new GPS destination EVEN WHEN STOPPED because the car is worried you're driving. I usually have to pull the jack out or speak loudly towards the microphone --several times in a row-- to get voice activation to work.

Still, this is so much more enjoyable than my factory head unit. I can't wait to take even a grocery store trip so I can listen to Spotify.

I bought this item on 9/16/2020, I was able to get it installed 2 weeks after 9/16. I waited 2 weeks for a harness and interface to fit a 2012 Malibu. Literally a week after installation, CarPlay quit working. I got a message and took a picture of it. I called Bestbuy, and unfortunately I don’t have their extended warranty, so they didn’t help me. I called Pioneer Electronics and that was a total disaster. They have no idea what this product even existed and I thought that was strange. I am dealing with it now, and for those that do not care about Apple CarPlay or the USB connection, take your shot but you’ll probably have a better experience with this product than I did. But, if I can go back, I would have got a different brand. Pioneer electronics are not very helpful.

I installed this in my 2009 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited to replace the factory radio. I also installed the iDatalink Maestro module to retain all of the factory original features and was required in order to control front to rear fade as I kept the factory Infinity amplifier. The Maestro also gives me an engine gauge screen on the new Pioneer, tire pressure, door status, battery voltage, and engine error code display/reset via the ODB connector. I also replaced all of the factory speakers. JBL Harman components in the front, JBL coaxials in sound bar, and a Pioneer low profile sub in the rear. Finally I also installed a backup camera which is displayed on the Pioneer screen. So far I love the Pioneer head unit. Amazing sound quality, great features. I have a Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Android Auto is really cool. Allows me to run Waze navigation and other apps like Pandora when my phone is plugged into the Pioneer USB port. My only complaints, thus the 4 stars: (1) Wish there were two USB ports, keep switching between USB thumb drive loaded with music files and my phone for navigation. (2) Control buttons on left side are rather small. Overall a great radio and great price! Was $450 but got it on sale for $299. TIP: The Metra dash install/trim kit I used has very soft/cheap plastic, cracks easily. I've read that Scosche makes a better quality one and will pursue that brand for future installs.

So far- so good. Really nice unit with capability to do so much. I plan on adding on the Maestro feature this spring, along with cameras. That’s what I like about it....if you can’t afford to do everything at once, you can add features 1 by 1. I’ve never been a pioneer fan, I usually like Kenwood. But, after seeing a review on the Money Pit feature on Donut media’s Facebook page- pitting pioneer against the exact Kenwood model I was contemplating, it won me over. Granted....the unit they reviewed was a 1500 NEX- if I went with a more expensive model it should be just as good, if not better. The call quality on both ends are great. After seeing mine - I have friends and family looking to upgrade.

The camera is relative east to install but does require tools and some skill. The camera works. It’s slow to come up when you put your car in reverse. The picture is OK day and night until the car starts moving. Once moving, pixelation is at an unexceptionable level. In my opinion it isn’t worth the high cost. On the other hand, it will assist in parking. I haven’t talked with the correct person at Garmin to see if the pixelation can be reduced.

I already had a Garmon gps and found out about this back up camera. I had been wanting one for safety when backing up around children. This was perfect for my needs. Installation was extememly easy, espiecially on my Wrangler, and it worked perfect the first time. Watching their installation videos made it a breeze to install. I've had it for about a month now and I have no complaints at all. It kicks on as soon as I place my jeep in reverse, and off when I put it in drive. I love it so much that I'm about to order a second one to place in from of my jeep for off road trail use.

I installed this on one of my cars first, and loved it so much I installed another on my other car. If your Garmin GPS has built-in HD traffic alerts (i.e., the model number includes LMTHD), you will retain the HD traffic alerts even with this backup camera.

However, if you get your HD traffic through an external antenna/power cable such as the GTM 60 power cable, your Garmin GPS will only have regular traffic alerts but not the digital HD traffic alerts.

How do I know this? I have the Garmin 2599LMTHD with built in HD traffic, and a Garmin 2589LMT that I get HD traffic via the GTM 60 power/antenna cord I purchased separately. The backup camera requires the use of a replacement power/antenna cord. With the replacement cord, HD traffic was retained in the 2599LMTHD, but was lost in the 2589LMT.

I cannot get this information anywhere, even Garmin customer reps aren't sure, so I am sharing the info here.

I wanted to use this with my Garmin GPS which as an antenae built into the power cord to recieve traffic alerts. Unfortunately this device also needs to use the power cord to receive the video image wirelessly....and they aren't the same thing so if you use the backup camera you loose the traffic alerts feature which you paid extra to get on my model of Garmin. It did seem to work fine though...image was satisfactory although not as high res as some hard wired units. I think I may just get a hard wired unit. Recommended only if you don't need traffic alerts.

GPS and backup camera were installed in our older truck: Tech went above and beyond. Both were installed professionally and fast and work perfectly. We are very happy with quality.

Be sure to read the instructions on this one. I had it professionally installed and they could not get it to work. It must use the included cable. After I figured that out I love it.

We have been looking everywhere for a backup camera that has night vision. We finally found this backup camera and it has not disappointed us. We highly recommend this product!

The biggest problem with this is the type of wheels I have.

I had to tilt the camera a little to get it between the spokes of my wheel. This makes everything wonky on the display. Wish there was a way to adjust the picture or camera.

Camera is great. It’s for my grandson . New driver. A Jeep and needed to be able to back up easily.

I installed this in my honda fit. I like it alot. Only issue is the Glare in the daytime.

Just installed this for an old coworker who has an older Corolla. I bought the matching iBEAM backup camera, looks like iBEAM is a Metra brand which I like. I've installed these types of backup cameras before back before our cars came with them, so installation was a breeze for me. I like that this just plugs into the cigarette lighter outlet for power.

No issues so far, works exactly as it should. I used to pay a lot less for these rear view mirror screen clip ons, but the price is still reasonable. It's the perfect solution for an older car that you don't want to spend a ton of money for.

Be aware that there is considerable glare during the day - it's a mirror after all. You learn to adjust how you look at it and set your expectations accordingly. Night time is no problem. If your windows are tinted, that also helps. Picture quality is on par with the similar products I've purchased in years past. This mirror clips onto your old one so it transmits/amplifies vibration as your car idles, so just be aware of that. It's one of the sacrifices of this type of backup camera setup but I'd take this over none at all, that's for sure!

I was a bit skeptical about an after market back up camera. I bought one from another store (won't say who) and it was a solar one and it did not work great at all. It stopped charging after a 3rd charge. So I bought this one and so far so good. Its not as great as one straight from the cars manufacture but works great. I just want to be able to see whats behind my SUV

I didn't get this installed because wireing with it required taking down part of my headliner and I have a sunroof and wasn't happy with that idea.

I don't know how well the camera actually functions. I'm rating a 3 to be fair.

The local best buy installer recommended and it took further trips out of the city each time for installations .. still no parking monitor far as I can tell.. I'd like to use Tech support to install a digital rearview Mirror too, & make use of the plan but this leaves me concerned if I can trust the team responsible..

I had the Best Buy geek squad car install tech use this hardwire kit instead of stringing a power cord from the top of my windshield across my dashboard down to the power outlet which I think looks really sloppy. Once installed, you can’t even see it. It plugs right into your fuse box and is activated when you turn your car on with your key. And it shuts off automatically when you shut off your engine. I had the dash cam and the hardwire installed for free because I’m a member of the total tech support plan. TTS Plan is a great value! Plus by using the hardware kit in your car, you still have the option of using the standard accessory plug in power cord with your dash cam if you choose to take the dash cam and use it in another vehicle for a while. You just unplug the dash cam from a hardwire and then Use the standard wire power plug for the dash cam in another vehicle if you want.

You have to have this in order to avoid using your cigarette lighter charger. Buy it if you want I hide the cord

It’s working pretty good for my dash cam extension.

This won't work on some cars. For example, we have a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox, and the fuses in the fuse block are much smaller than the connectors that come with this kit. I'm sure it works as long as you don't have the mini fuses. We are having to return this.

My car (Honda CRV 2002) has only one power oulet. If I run dashcam via cigarette lighter, then I cannot use my GPS. I use the hard wire kit instead. After connect the kit into my fuse box, any time I start the car, the dashcam is on, so I can free the cigarette ligher for my GPS.

This will be my 6th pioneer NEX unit.. the 8500 has taken the cake, i have installed these units in all my personal and business vehicles. Couldn't be happier

I installed this in my 2011 Cadillac Escalade to replace to stock Navigation unit that was outdated. I used the Maestro module and harness to retain all factory functions. This maintained steering wheel controls, and this harness allows you to customize the steering wheel controls to do what you want, retained seperate video function for both rear tvs and even wires in to the OBD2 port to read check engine lights and other live data from the vehicles computer(tire pressure, intake temp, RPMs, and a ton of other live data).

Had best buy install it in my vehicle. Nice when it works. Only used it less than a month. Fits bade in the vehicle.

Doesn't always work in reverse (back up camera). Wireless android auto drops out 1 foot away (it says to move closer?)

Mode switch on steering column doesn't work with stereo, eventhough I bought extra accessories to make that happen I was told.

Now it's locked up with my dvd stuck in it. I have to put it in reverse to see the home screen. At all other times it's a blank screen. Now with the virus thing I have to wait for best buy to get up and running to take it out. Not a good experience.

Overall it's a good investment so far. Too of the custom options don't work. Won't allow you to remove warning signs for construction or props for gas stations. Otherwise works fine.

This Puoneer Avic is a Grady full capability unit that looks and works great but was tricky to install in a Mercedes due to fiber optic cabling best to have a professional do it!

This is a near perfect fit for the opening on a third gen Tacoma. Offering wireless Carplay/AA, this unit outshines most competitors with it's performance, display quality, ease of use, and ability to retain steering wheel/information cluster communication. While this unit is indeed expensive, the pros out-way the cons in my opinion

** You will need to buy additional accessories to have this unit communicate with your vehicle successfully. Do research before you buy.

Pros:

- Wireless Carplay/AA is amazing, using Waze (with it actually being accurate) is awesome.

The UI that Pioneer created is streamlined, unlike the complex mess the Joying was.

- I have OEM speakers, and they sound REALLY good now compared to the older Entune unit.

- The provided Mic seems to also work well, I've called a few people and the consensus has been positive so far.

- The display is gorgeous, large, and really fits in well with the truck. The screen glare is also not as bad as some other units I've seen.

Cons:

- I really hate not having a volume knob anymore, and that's something I'll just need to get used to the more I use this.

- This is a very expensive upgrade, I feel like the price should have been a few hundred dollars less.

- Getting the firmware update to work was annoying at first.

- The CarAVAssist app isn't designed well, and I'd expect a more intuitive and informative app for the premium price point Pioneer offers. Apps are always subject to changes, so I'll keep my fingers crossed that they have something lined up to improve their app.

Wanting a bigger screen, wireless Apple Car play, and retain all my functions from my factory radio, I researched a lot of forums and FB pages. There are a few other alternatives out there, but you end up spending about the double the price. This Pioneer performs stellar, has all my factory radio options (temperature, gauges, etc.) and much more.

Very inconsistent. Sometimes it works properly but mostly it does not. The CarPlay is always malfunctioning so Navigation and music is not available. It’s an expensive radio or Bluetooth receiver at most. The functionality is also horrible and not user friendly at all. Coming from a highly savvy technology user.

Most cost effective option that I’ve seen when it comes to head units with Apple car play and Android auto. Highly satisfied.

Love the head unit !! Looks and sounds awesome in my Tacoma

Its a very nice radio. I had mine professionally installed and i cant a bad word about it. It makes a car ride so much nicer, especially the long trips. When you have to professionally installed all your apps that you have on the phone are compatible with the modes in the car.

Love this radio. Connects with my iphone and makes it easy to listen to my music and reads my text messages for me as I'm driving.

I love my new dashcam; the resolution is fantastic, great views from front and rear and the installation was easy. But I wish the software was better. More on that in a moment, though.

I've had two cams before this, but they were front view only and I never really "installed" them so much as just plugged them in and left the wire dangling. Given that this had a separate rear camera unit, I knew I wasn't going to get away with that and while waiting for the camera to ship I dreaded the installation and routing wires.

But I didn't need to worry; the unit came with a really useful tool and plenty of cable. Rexing really stepped up by providing this tool with the cam and it worked wonders. I was able to hide every bit of my cable behind the trim and liner without having to unscrew or remove anything and the results look almost professionally done!

The unit itself is pretty straightforward in its operation and the keys/menus are logically designed. Although it took a few drives with the manual in the car to get used to everything, the learning curve was pretty shallow and there are lots of nice features and a good allowance for customization. The way I mounted mine, next to the rearview, the main camera is still within reach to control or save a clip but completely out of my peripheral vision so as not to be a distraction.

Same for the rear; it's small and unobtrusive and there's a thoughtfully small LED indicator that let's you know the camera is up but doesn't distract when you're looking out the rear view mirror. A lot of thought went into the design of the hardware and Rexing is certainly deserving of praise for this.

I wish that BB would allow me to upload a video because the quality of both cams is fantastic! Day, night, direct sun, overcast and cloudy... it just shines and is better than any other dashcam I have owned previously.

So why four stars instead of five? Well, it's the software. Firstly, there's confusion over which software to use - the manual mentions one, their website another. The problem is that neither one of them would connect with my phones!

It's important to note that the Wifi AP when activated connected with my phone just fine - according to the Wifi screen on my phones. But neither piece of software seems to recognize that the OS says it's connected. I tried an Nexus 6p, which is about as plain vanilla an Android phone as you can get as well as an older Samsung S7 but while both instantly connected to the WiFi on the cam in the Wifi screens, the Rexing software and the TimaCam software never completed the connection.

I was finally able to connect with an old Lenovo A10 tablet and at that point was able to view and download videos. But I don't take the tablet in the car with me so the only time I can use it is when I am home.

This renders one of their best features - Wifi access - almost useless for me. That's a bit of an issue because if I want to show a clip to the police, my choices are limited to either handing over SD card (and who knows what else might be on there!) or having to go home and bring the tablet to the station. It's also an issue because the software is also your only way to update the firmware.

Hopefully they will get these connection issues fixed soon. But otherwise, this is an exemplary dashcam with all the features and coverage you could ask for. And the imagery is incredible. Also loved the GPS feature; there is a special player you can download to view clips on your PC and it plays back with the GPS mapping in real time. Just wish I didn't have to jump through so many hoops to download the clips in the first place!

I'd still recommend it highly, but with the warning that there may be issues with particular phones connecting properly.

Finally a dashcam that satisfied me. Excellent video quality. Great performance and very reliable. I had to return other 2 dashcams and got this one on my third try. Finally a must have dashcam :)

Finally got one and it works great... everything I expected and more... yes it doesn’t come with memory card but so what there I had planty of them at home!!

I hate to start a review on a bad note, but please read beyond the first paragraph, so let me give a few nice points about the Rexing V1P Pro first.

It has a front and rear camera that records individual time stamped HD (1080p) video with audio and includes GPS data in the file. WIth the very generic JMS DVR GPS Player on the PC, downloaded from their site, you can actually see the video beside a map of either Google Map, Baidu map or openstreetmap. As the video plays, it tracks it on the map with speed, Lat/Lon, date/time and a speed curve. Since this data is stored in the MP4 file, it can easily be shared with anyone that may want all of that information. The wide angle lense is decent enough to catch everything in front of it, claims it is 170 degrees. However, it seems to be a bit less than that as I feel it is more than 10 degrees to see full left/right of it’s view. It also has WiFi built in, but more on that for the rest of the review.

For most products, I can pick them up and run with them without giving much thought to the user manual. However, when I opened this one and noticed the 3M sticky pads, I figured I better learn this product before I screw it up and can’t move it. With a few grammatical errors and typos in the manual, it made me check the origin and as expected, made in China. No problem, as so many items are made there, just makes a little more sense for the errors. Anyways, I follow the directions for installing the cameras, which are very basic and has all of 2 lines about the rear camera. The rear camera has no real instructions, but rotates on its mount 180 degrees, one would assume that it can install in any direction at that point. The issue is that my truck has a sliding glass window and to install it I need the USB cable to run away from the window, see picture. What I then find out is it does not flip. What I managed to miss was the one line under Display Control “On the rear camera, you can toggle the built-in switch to horizontally flip the rear camera image.” Which talks about the LCD Display, not under the “Mount the rear camera” section. This is a mirror flip, lef/t right, not any other direction. So, now all of my rear videos are upside down and it doesn’t come with any replacement pads. So, take this as a heads up, if you get this, install the rear camera with the logo right side up.

The power cable is a standard 12v cigarette lighter adapter with a 12ft cord and a 20ft USB cable for the rear camera. More than enough cable to reach around most vehicles. They also include some wire clips, but the majority of it will require tucking in the headboard or somewhere if you want a clean looking install.

With install out of the way, inserting the SD card and formatting is fairly simple. However, the menu system is super clunky. The Rec/Mic buttons have left right arrows, but for the menu it is up down. For some menus, the screen shows “OK” on the right side, above the M button, but the OK button is on the left side. Another thing is that you can set the date/time, but that means nothing to it as it will take a GPS time, not from your time zone by default, unless you go further into the menu and set your timezone. Why not put that right next to or above date/time because I have lots of video that is now way out of time before I realized that. The OK really got me when i hooked it via USB to a PC and you have to hit OK, on the other side, to make it a Mass Storage device, or else it will boot up into the regular recording mode in a few seconds.

Mentioned a couple times in the manual and on the box is the Rexing Connect app. With WiFi enabled on the dash cam, you can directly connect to it from your device. I was able to get mine to connect and I could start/stop recording and watch live video. However, the main reason I wanted the app is to access the videos from the device from anywhere and that is the one function that would not work for me. I contacted support through their site with no reply over a week, I contacted them again and the reply I received was literally the line from the manual on how to connect to WiFI, which isn’t the problem. I replied to that email and still no reply. Reviews on the app show that I’m not the only one with an issue.

As for quality, it claims that with the main camera it can record up to 2160p (2880x2160) when the rear camera is not connected. However, I didn’t notice much a difference between that and the 1080p (1920x1080) settings, even on a 4K monitor. Both resolution settings were grainy and a bit blurry, however, the file size was more than double for the same loop length. It’s not bad for just needing to see a scene, but your not going to catch plate numbers if moving. Being that the cameras are attached to a fixed mounting bracket, some windshields may be at a bad angle for catching reflections. The camera is adjustable in the main device, but since the housing angle is fixed, much of my daytime video was even more muddled by the reflection of my dashboard in the windshield.

Now, I want to say this will capture those moments that you most need it, that even with the bad user interface and expected higher quality that it could save those moments. However, today I discovered that it wasn’t recording during part of my trip, no idea why. Also, the user manual says the locked videos will be in \CARDV\MOVIE\RO, but my manually locked videos weren’t, but amongst the many other files, which will be found by date once the non-locked files are overwritten.

Pros: Front and Rear HD cameras; Easy to use; Easy to setup - Literally:

1) Put in a memory card (Note - not included)

2) Plug into 12 volt outlet in car

3) Mount front and back cameras via sticky tape mounts and you are in business.

Depending on how clean of an installation you'd like to have you can use the included plastic trim tool that lets you quickly and easily tuck the cables from the cameras under the edge of your car's dash/window/floor trim. There's also an available optional (separate purchase) hard wire kit to wire the cameras directly into your fuse box to keep your cars 12volt plug free.

Video quality is great and quick and easy to lock and save a video. Comes preset to loop recording video - Now if someone cuts you off - just tap the "OK" button and the last recording is locked for later viewing and won't be overwritten by the loop. Files are easy to remove and view via PC.

There's a bunch of additional features like gps location reporting of the video; changing resolution, loop recording, accessing the camera via wifi on your smartphone, etc. But 99% of the time your use it to record your front and back - which is what you want.

Only cons were 1)I have a Toyota 4Runner and the window goes completely down and the tailgate/hatch completely lifts up, so not ideal to mount the rear on the window. 2) No Micro SD memory card included.

All in all - excellent dash camera setup.

This unit comes with a front camera to install on the front windshield, a rear camera to install on the rear windshield, wiring to the power outlet, wiring to the rear camera, and a tool and adhesives.

Setting up this camera takes a little bit of work to make it look clean and proper. Once installation is complete, it's a nice little system to have to document your daily drives. The system takes a little bit of time to learn and get used to the buttons and interface. Once installed, it records on a loop so that it can keep documentation of things you may want to have on file. I'm hoping that I can capture something on video if I need to if something was to ever happen.

The wires are probably the hardest part of this install for a novice like me. Fortunately Rexing provides a tool that can help you wedge the wires into spaces in your cars moldings. I was able to do this easily and make it look like a clean install without hanging wires everywhere. The camera takes a nice clear picture and it can record in 1080p and higher formats.

I purchased a separate 64 gb micro SD card to go with this in order to utilize the cameras recording ability so I can play this back on to my computer in case I need to record something for upload to YouTube or such. There is an app for Rexing that you can download as well. I tried it for ios on my iPhone XR, but the app was pretty useless and didn't function properly at all.

Overall this is my first ever vehicle camera and I'm happy with it. It's given me some peace of mind for having a big brother eye on my car while I do my best to drive safe on the roads. I wanted a camera like this to document the crazy and unsafe drivers all around me on my daily commute and car pools. Hopefully having this will benefit me in an insurance issue if something arises in the future.

This is my first ever Dash Cam. This V1P Pro offers a lot of nice features, such as front and back camera’s with nice HD 170° ultra-wide-angle lenses. It offers loop recording, Wi-Fi interface for viewing on you smart phone, built in GPS logger and even collision detection.

Reviews:

INSTALL - Install went pretty smoothly. I have a 2017 Honda Accord. I simply used the furnished plastic tool to help me snake the cables behind the rubber seal that goes around all the interior panels. I mounted on the top left corner of the windshield to keep it out of my center view.

(This is a fairly large unit even in the top left, but I am getting used to it over time.)

Cable are plenty long.

Before sticking the mounts to the windshield I powered up the unit to make sure my orientation and line of sight was all correct. (I highly recommend this as it would be difficult to remove the adhesive once it is in place). The Back cam has a nice up and down swivel adjustment and the front camera lens is on a ball and socket type of swivel to get the best angle. I was a little worried about getting a good picture since my windshield curves in where I mounted it, but the lens moved enough to get a good angle. I only used 2 of the windshield clips on the cords where they exit the roof liner, otherwise I found by disconnecting cables to remove the unit I would pull the cables back out of the roof liner. I did install a 64 MB mini SD card for storage (not included). 64MB will get you 7-10 hours of recording depending on the camera resolution – 128MB - 14-20 hours

Overall a pretty smooth install. I would say maybe 30 Minutes.

OPERATION – I’m the kind of guy that does not want to pull out a Manual, but I did find and needed to for this unit. The menus and button control have a small learning curve. I would say that the user interface could use a cleanup, or add a couple more hardware buttons. I found myself leaving the manual in the car in case I needed it for reference.

Once you have this system installed, all you do is forget about it. You start your car and it starts recording automatically.

You can select from a couple of different resolution setting for the front and back camera, and you also have the choice of turning the microphone off so it will record no audio. Another option you have is turning the screen saver on. I set mine to turn the screen off after 1 minute. I did not have this ON at first and it got awfully annoying at night to have a bright screen lit up in your field of view.

Speaking of field of view…There is a red light that flashes behind the center two buttons while powered ON (indicates RECORD mode). I do wish you could disable this as this bright red LED behind these button shows up in the gap between these buttons and shine in your eye, (mostly noticeable at night). Not a huge deal, but I do find annoying.

I did have a little trouble connecting to the Wi-Fi of my phone, my phone’s said I was not connected, but when I looked at the head unit it stated I actually was though and connection was made.

PLAYBACK – You can view videos on your smart phone using the Wi-Fi connection and the ‘Rexing Connect’ APP, or you can view on your PC.

To playback your video’s on your PC you can remove your SD card to transfer the files, or plug your front camera unit into your computer via the USB cord. Either way, playback will be faster and more stable if you transfer your videos to your hard drive before viewing.

Now you simply download the GPS Logger Software from Rexings website and install. (Side note – When I first started the software, all the menus were in Chinese, but once I closed and reopened the software it then changed to English). Once you install the software, you simply open the video file(s) you would like to view. The playback shows, the video (front OR back Cam) along with speed, date, time, longitude and latitude and even a speed curve. There are also areas for G- Sensor data and Acceleration. (These were blank on my viewing, perhaps this is only populated after a crash).

I would like the ability to view the video from the front and back cameras at the same time. I could only find a way to view one camera at a time.

OVERVIEW / FINAL THOUGHTS –

PROS:

Once set up, easy to use (Fairly easy set up in my case)

Overall, I am pretty happy with this unit. The cons stated above do not affect the basic function of what this unit is meant to do..Capture video.

If you are in the market for a dash cam, I would not hesitate to recommend this one.

I personally don’t NEED one, but it sure give you a sense of security knowing if something happens, you have record of the facts

PROs:

- Sharp (though admittedly tiny) LCD display provides real-time picture-in-picture view of front and rear cams with the ability to switch between views on the fly

- Rexing Connect app and built-in WiFi allows a smartphone to be used as a live monitor, control device settings, and even serve as a simple viewer/editor for videos and pictures without having to remove the SD card from the unit

- Onboard GPS sensor (no external puck needed!) provides time, location/speed data for tagging videos and images; you can further customize the display overlay to include your license plate if you wish

- JMS video player (download from Rexing's website) allows simplistic video playback/snipping along with display of sync'd GPS time, map, and speed sensor data for each clip or image

- Very clear/clean video regardless of operational mode--dual 1080p/30fps recording with rear camera in operation and up to 2160p/24fps with front cam alone; audio pickup was sensitive enough to make out conversations in back seat over the radio

- Included manual claims max microSD card capacity is 128GB though the website and my experience indicate that a 256GB microSD will also work just fine

- Box includes a VERY secure mounting system for the main unit (slide-click tabs), a pry tool for headliner/body panels, and a connecting cable long enough to reach most installation locations for the rear camera

- The loop recording mode is greatly appreciated as I don't have to manually sift through useless video files--the camera will record over the oldest unlocked video file if my SD card runs out of room--and the adjustable gravity/impact setting will lock a video against being overwritten if a collision is detected

CONs:

- There are no two ways around it--the front camera unit is BIG. Yeah, it's got the camera, screen, controls, and GPS hardware built-in, but you have to mount it near the headliner in order to use the downward sloping/facing screen and still have convenient access to the controls...it doesn’t take up a huge amount of real estate in my field of view relatively speaking, but it’s definitely noticeable. What’s more, it’s deep enough that it may impact how far forward you can angle your sun visor

- You've got to be 100% certain you're all in for a dash-cam--a neat/secure installation will require 3M adhesive patches on the windshield and some deft cable routing underneath the headliner (or around the floorboards, or both) to get the dual cameras powered without long wires dangling in your field of view. At the very least, you can't set this camera up on a suction mount near your dash to see if you like it first given the orientation of the controls/screen...it has to be installed HIGH on the windshield

- Unless you opt for the $10 hard wire kit, you will eat a cigarette lighter/12V socket with the power adapter for this unit--there is no onboard battery (Rexing claims it's for the supercapacitor to provide stable power in extreme temps) or pass-through 12V power adapter. If you normally run a GPS or other 12V item in your vehicle (USB charger, perhaps?), you'll need to figure out another way to power one unit or the other (or get a splitter)

- The rear camera swivels almost fully around forward to back so there shouldn't be many situations where it can't be mounted on a rear windshield. But do be aware that the switch on the back unit only changes horizontal orientation; it doesn't flip it vertically as some have complained (note that the manual never claimed the switch was for vertical picture flip in the first place--see page 28). Bottom line—you need to audition the setup on the dash-cam's display BEFORE pulling the plastic off the cam's adhesive backing and sticking it to your rear window because you won’t be able to correct a flipped image in software/via settings

- You can get used to it relatively quickly, but the user interface could use a little TLC. The two center buttons (Rec and Mic) have horizontal arrows on them to make it easy to scroll left to right through recorded videos/images. However, LCD screen navigation uses those buttons as up/down arrows, but also mixes the hard button icons with the navigation directionals on the screen in such close proximity that you eventually have all the arrows sitting right on top of each other—but all menu navigation on screen are vertically oriented. It's a little thing, but why not make the menu navigation match the printing that's already on the illuminated buttons so you don't have to put any prompts on the screen at all?

-- What's worse is that a large 'OK' image on the screen is placed right above the physical Menu button, and what looks like a menu icon is located to the far left over the physical 'OK' button. Here's the rub--if you press the physical button under the screen image of the OK function, you actually exit out of the menu entirely rather than just selecting the highlighted option on the screen (the “OK”), but if you press the button that the LCD display indicates is the Menu//back button, you actually change your selection on the menu rather than go back one level or exit the menu system entirely

- Sigh…another app that requires an account creation/log-in to reach full functionality. Fortunately, this seems to only effect you can still browse videos/images and adjust unit settings without having to create an account if you wish…that, at least, is a welcome relief from so many other apps that require you to surrender all your personal details before you can even start activating "standard" features that are supposed to be available right out of the box

Summary review:

This is a full-featured dual-cam setup that provides excellent quality video and enough hardware in the box to get you going in both forward and rear-facing setups. Yeah, video quality takes a bit of a hit up front if you run in dual-cam mode, but I'm not sure who really needs 4K video in a dash-cam setup anyway (maybe I'm not really the target demographic for this device). Installation takes a bit of time and [probably] know-how, or even a professional, if you want it to look good/neat...this isn't a dash-cam that actually sits on your dash so you need to be patient and deliberate about camera placement on the windshield and routing the power and connecting cables above and below your line of sight.

I'm not sure how hard a pass-thru 12V power adapter would be but it would have been nice not to sacrifice my only 12V plug to keep this unit running--I went low-rent with a splitter but I've seen the hard wire kit here on Best Buy that I'll probably pick up at some point down the road. Maybe it's just me, but I've seen WiFI radios fit into smaller enclosures than the one used for the rear camera so the thick mini USB to mini USB coupler cable that runs from the front camera to the back feels a little clunky and was certainly a bit of trouble to snake around to the back of the vehicle. What about a hard wire running power from the rear camera to a running/tail light, then just stream the rear image to the front regardless of how far back it is--especially as the onboard WiFi already allows me to stream from the main unit to a cell phone or tablet. Installation notes/observations aside, be aware that this unit comes with no onboard storage of any kind, so unless you plan to stream to your cell phone exclusively, you need to plan on a separate micro SD card purchase at a minimum (Rexing actually has very specific recommendations about which cards are suitable for dash cam use so do a little research ahead of time if you plan to maximize your experience).

Other than the usability niggles noted in the interface, the size of this unit is a bit of a turn-off (for me)...maybe it's not THAT much bigger than competing models, but it definitely doesn't hide away behind the rear-view mirror, and in fact really needs to be right up front at the top of your windshield so you can use the controls and navigate the menus. Normally, that might not be a problem, but I'm a tall driver in a fairly small car; for me, the V1P Pro does intrude a bit on my field of view even though it's not all that big in the hand. But otherwise, there's not much to complain about. If you've got the itch to get a dash cam mounted in your vehicle, this one provides a lot of capability, crash/accident-sensitive features that preserve your recordings, the ability to monitor and playback recordings via WiFi without having to touch the card inside, and it offers high quality video to boot--definitely a safe bet if you're in the market!

Camera works very well. I like that it's centered. Most aftermarket options tend to be off center. The message on screen to be aware of your surroundings is annoying and it's an obstruction which contradicts the purpose of the message.

I'd repurchase this product again! I've enjoyed using it, and share with my friends and family.

The construction is holding up pretty well so far. The camera itself has a decent picture during the day. At night its a little lacking but you can make out basic items like curbs, trees, trailer hitches (if you sneak up on it).

This dash cam is great. Be aware that if you want to have the camera on when the car is off and you are away from the car, you need to install it in a particular setting. At first I was afraid it would drain my battery. So far it hasn't. Great camera.

I feel protected now and covered a dash cam is a must have nowadays drive out here especially in California I don’t have to worry abt anything god forbid I get in an accident I’m covered show the police and my insurance coverage the video and that’s it get my payout for my vehicle no long delays and legal disputes avoids a headache and stress you have to protect yourself and this is it. All the features are great especially once it senses an impact the dash cam automatically locks in your video from the g sensor from an accident and if something light and want to record something simply hit the ok button you are shielded from the front and back and somewhat of the side I feel really safe now having this honestly and best investment for driving I purchased from Bestbuy on the $200 or more $0 apr for 6mos and that also uncluded their $50 professional installation quick and easy hard wired so it’s always on and running and even when ur not at your vehicle any impact to vehicle will start to take pictures ha I love it! Can’t go wrong I highly recommend go for it!

Poor video. You can’t see the display while on the windshield. Just today, I noticed something was wrong with the rear camera. Upon inspection, it was partially melted! I need to return this dashcam.

Rexing Dash Cam is awesome, the setup and installation were seamless and very easily and nicely tucked into the car upholstery making hiding the installation cables from visibility.

The dashcam is clear both during the day and night, I could see the registration number of the other cars clearly from the recording.

The video recording is stable and the voice recording is also very clear, can't wait to install the rear camera.

I have only used a few of the features, the few I have tested worked perfectly.

Now I’m feeling protected in the road by recording front & rear of my vehicle.

The front camera is excellent. The back camera is very grainy. I had mine installed by Geek Squad and it appears to have been done wrong because the rear camera images are flipped when you play the recording (ex. Objects on the right side of field of view as you look out the back of the car are shown on the left side). Rexing Customer Support is non responsive. There are probably better front/rear cameras you can buy for the money.

A co-worker recommended this brand and so that's how I ended up with one. I've had my Rexing for a few months now and I'm very happy with it. The picture quality is excellent. And I found the directions easy to understand. My only issue is the fact that I have long nails and it makes it a bit hard to remove the micro SD card.

Due to impatience on my part, I didn't update the firmware until the screen went white a week ago. Once I read the directions, it was easy to do. As well as setting up the date which I hadn't bothered to do either.

Overall, I am glad I made this purchase and hope to actually capture something one day beyond the random bunny rabbit running thru my yard when I get home from work.

I have the Rexing V1P right now. I can’t wait to install my V1P+. The quality on the Rexing cameras is honestly the best out of all of the dash camera I’ve owned. The rear caner’s resolution could be better but I’ll live.

It records and tells you when is on, still have to look back at my recording inside the car if any activity has happen

I just got to putting this in my car. I wish I had checked it immediately after receiving it, but it did NOT come with the GPS. Not pleased with my purchase and I was going to purchase another one for my other car. Ugh!

I wanted discreet compact dash cam for both front and back. This is compact has all the function i was looking for.

I wanted no screen. Fast video download via builtin wifi with a app.

Thin and long wires for rear camera which some brands you would need to pay extra for. I have three row SUV it made it to the rear window hiding long wires under panels. Working very good so far only con is sensitivity is little high on continuous recording when u hit a uneven surface it starts to record.

Awesome product. The replay is clear and its not too difficult to navigate. Only confusing part was connecting to the app. It only connects for me if the car is on. I did not know the only way to see videos was connect but it is not a deal breaker. You can save/download the videos to the app and replay as much as you want but this is after they are saved thus allowing you to view with or without a connection

Dash cam works great. Best buy price matched and it came earlier than expected. I had best buy install it and the technician did a great job. Overall I was extremely pleased

I’ve owned about 3 dash cam’s before this one, all which have been pretty good and done the job. One thing that the others never provided was rear camera support which is what caught my eye with this one. Some dash cam’s have a second, rear facing camera attached to the front camera, but it doesn’t really give you a good view behind your vehicle. This one provides all 3 cameras.

I bought my first Rexing product about 2 months ago, a phone holder for my vehicle. Its exceeded my expectations and out-performed other top-rated products. That really gave them a leg up with this new product when looking to upgrade, so I was eager to see what else they could offer.

Installation

Installation was pretty straight-forward. The instructions were limited, but at the same time you are just mounting and running cables really. I’d say I spent about 45 minutes total with the installation. I drive a medium size truck and the cables were plenty long enough to go from the front to the back of the vehicle. One thing that seemed cheap were the little sticky tabs that hold/clip the wire and you can stick to along the bottom of the windshield. The stickiness didn’t hold and the plastic tab that holds the wire is cheap and bends easy, but the 3M sticky pad for the camera mounts was solid.

Also, when mounting the camera, there is no option to move or angle the front or inside camera. You can only slide the camera on and off the mount. If you need to move it to catch another angle for something, its not possible without removing it from the mount. The same with the indoor camera, so make sure before applying the mount to the windshield, you have the perfect angle. The rear camera however does allow you to rotate the camera up and down, so not sure why there was no flexibility with the front cameras.

Operations

One of the nicer features of this camera is the voice command. It works well, simple to use, and commands are fairly easy to memorize. They give you a card which I’ve been keeping in my truck until I get the commands memorized. It picks up on the commands well and reacts pretty quick with an audible confirmation. I have to repeat myself sometimes, but overall I really like it.

Settings seem pretty limited. No custom video quality settings for each camera, no option for selecting loop size. Its pretty bare currently, this could change in future software updates.

Display

So far from my experience, the display is okay. You can pick between showing the front camera, the back camera, or all 3 cameras. The inside camera doesn’t show by itself, only when all 3 cameras are selected does it appear. Not sure if anyone would want that feature, but just in case they were.

The inside camera has a weird hue to it on mine, it looks to have a purple type of night vision as you can see in the picture which might affect it during the day, but the front and rear camera look fine on the display. I don’t recall seeing the “hue” when I first started using it. You can see it in my attached picture.

Also a slight annoyance but not a big deal, the arrows and symbols on the camera referencing the buttons on the bottom don’t quite line up or its maybe designed to be firmly placed to the left of the buttons its assigned to (see picture).

Playback/Preview

Ok this is the biggest issue I’ve had so far. I have been able to connect my iPhone 11 to the camera via Wifi but cannot play/preview any of the videos. Operations are slow and when I try to hit play, it attempts, then just doesn’t do anything. You can still connect the camera to a computer to download the files directly via memory card adapter or connecting the camera directly with USB which I haven’t tried. This is kind of a big deal and hoping its easily fixed with a software/firmware update. The previews do show GPS speed, coordinates, time, and date which is nice.

When I voice command the photo function, it takes a picture of all 3 cameras which is nice. I don’t want to have to complicate the voice commands with specific cameras. I was able to access the pictures without issues on my iPhone, but again the interior camera looks a bit messed up with the color.

There’s also a Movie Mode in the settings menu of the camera itself. There is no explanation of these: 4k 30FPS, 4K+Pull 1080P, 4k+Ins 1080P. Not sure if this was for all cameras or the main one.

Update: I tried accessing the camera from an Android phone, the app and video playback worked very well. So many of my problems were related to the iphone app.

Conclusion

Overall the camera seems to have a lot of potential, but its almost like the camera was rushed to hit the market. The app struggles and lags big time on my iPhone while videos don’t playback, and more thought could have been put into the installation and user experience. It does have some good qualities though such as voice command and have a thorough coverage of your surroundings. I gave this product 4 stars instead of 3 because of the Android success I had with it. I’m sure with time, it will become a better device with updates.

Dash cams are fantastic on keeping people honest. This does have 3 cameras but there is a caveat if you want 4k recordings.

I will break down my review in key categories.

Setup:

It comes with everything you need to get started including memory card. The instructions are horrible. It took me 2 hours to install all the cameras and to tuck all the wiring into the car’s trim pieces for a clean install. Do note that there isn’t a suction cup mount in the box. Only 3M foam tape. They do offer a suction cup mount but only as a separate purchase. The wiring for the rear camera is just long enough for my car. Running the rear camera in an SUV might be a challenge as I feel like it could use another 5ft or more in cable.

Camera and recordings:

Having 3 cameras is a fairly new concept as 2 camera setups have been around forever. The interior camera is great if you’re doing ride share or would like to document the interior cabin. The interior camera does have night vision but the failure to articulate the lens is the biggest disappointment. The recommended mounting location of the dashcam is to the right of the review mirror. The interior camera is directly in front of the front passenger seat and barely can see the driver. Bad design.

One of the specs is that this camera is able to record at 4k resolution. The only way the front camera can record in 4k is if you only have 1 other camera, interior or rear, record at 1080. If you want to record all 3 cameras simultaneously, all cameras will be 1080 resolution. Which isn’t too bad because 1080 does serve the needs for most. I actually have a hard time telling the difference between a 1080 vs 4k recording since the lens is mostly rubbish. Its an ultra wide angle so I still have a hard time reading license plates unless its within a few feet away. That’s with both 1080 and 4k. Perhaps having options to record in 60fps would help but this dashcam only records in 30fps. The device doesn’t have a built in battery so you can’t review footage while the car is off or inoperative.

App:

The App is ok. Just plain ok. You don’t need the app to run the dashcam but it does allow you to view the footage straight on your phone. Streaming the footage to your phone is actually pretty fast but the caveat is that you’re unable to download the footage onto your phone. Swing and a miss! In order to get footage off the camera, you will need to take out the micro SD card and plug that into your computer. Very inconvenient if you needed to share footage with authority.

Summary:

I expected more in this price range. The 90s menu graphics, Inability to record in 4k with all 3 cameras and can’t download vids straight to your phone is why I can’t give the Rexing dashcam 5 stars.

I was recently rear ended and thankfully the other driver took responsibility right away, but I realize this is not always the case and video evidence is cheap insurance compared to my deductible. This is a solid 3 camera system, which gives you that important back view and uses GPS to show location and speed (important info to have in an accident). After initial setup, it works well with little upkeep. My only issues are the mount design (fixable - see below) and the interior camera color (annoying, but ignorable).

Pros

- Includes 3 cameras allowing you to record your front, rear and interior

- Records audio, GPS position and speed on each video clip

- Voice control to activate key features - it worked well for me if you limit interior noise and speak clearly. Even repeating a command now and then beats clicking thru menus!

- Good day time image quality for from and rear cameras

- Starts recording as soon as the car is started and overwrites old recording based on memory space

- Built in screen is big enough to display all 3 camera views and it also has a speaker to allow you to watch recorded clips (in a pinch)

- Kit includes a 32GB micro SD card with adapter, small trim tool, wire clips and additional adhesive pads

- Cables for the cigarette lighter power adapter (12ft) and rear camera (20ft) are long and should work for most vehicles

- All cameras are adjustable to allow some mounting flexibility

- Videos can be viewed and download from a phone with the Rexing Connect app and the SD card is easy to remove to view them on a computer.

Things to Consider

- Best Buy indicated that my vehicle was compatible with the camera, but the included adhesive mount did not work for my Jeep due to the angle of the windshield. The mount is at a fixed angle and my windshield was too flat, meaning the screen and interior camera would be pointed at the ceiling. This would probably be an issue for some trucks, vans and commercial vehicles. This delayed my install a few days, but thankfully Rexing makes an affordable suction cup mount which allows you to adjust the angle and reposition as needed.

- My interior camera is sharp, but the colors are way off. Everything has a purple tint and this appears to be a pretty common issue. It still does the job, but it could be better.

- The Rexing Connect app requires a direct Wi-Fi connection to the camera to work – meaning there are a few extra step to get it to work each time you use it, but it worked great for me once I figured it out. Steps: Turn Camera Wi-Fi on (voice commands make this easy), disable cellular data, go to your phone’s Wi-Fi settings and select the camera’s hot spot, open the app and connect. The camera Wi-Fi turns off automatically the next power cycle (just remember to turn you cell data back on).

- The parking monitor feature requires a separate hardwire kit, which looks to be a good value. I will probably purchase this in the future to clean up the install a bit, but I wanted to make sure everything worked first.

- My Jeep proved to be a challenge when mounting the rear camera. The rear camera uses an adhesive pad to stick to your back glass, but that did not work for my soft top since the window is plastic and removable. I mounted it to the center roll bar for now using zip-ties and it works great. I might look at a permanent mount in the future.

Out of the box - Nicely packaged and great quality! Instructions were very good and easy to follow and set up.

The unit has all the things needed to set up the dash cam in the front and rear using 3M adhesives. Make sure to allow it to stick for 20 minutes prior to installing the dash cam. The adhesive is very strong to make sure you place the bracket in the correct spot or else it will take a lot of strength to remove it. The adhesive sticks and holds even in high temperatures.

While the adhesive was setting, I formatted the SD card and within seconds the card was formatted. After 20 minutes I connected the dash cam and plugged it in and started driving. See uploaded photos for clarity, my windows are tinted and you can still see out them without issues. I could only upload photos not videos but the video footage is as clear as the still photo. Inside and outside the cabin.

The video clarity is amazing and I love that it captures the time, date and speed during recording. The only thing that I am unable to upload is a photo of the three video feeds on the screen. While driving the dash cam display shows the 3 camera footage and when you download the card its separated as F (Front), R (Rear), T. The dash cam also has the option to take photos.

The dash cam has a good number of features to optimize the video feed. The reason why I gave it 4 stars is because the cables. There are so many cables and if you outlet is in the center console which was my case it has to be set up and in the middle of the gear shifter. The reason why is so that it turns on automatically when you start the car and immediately starts recording so you dont have to worry about turning it on.

I would like to see this unit have a rechargeable battery to get rid of all the cords especially when hooking up the rear cam.

Overall, the Rexing V5 has a lot of great features and the video quality is a excellent for a dash cam. I would recommend as a must buy if you dont mind the cords and looking for an easy to use and set up dash cam.

The REXING - V5 PLUS DASHCAM is an attractive and affordable bundle of gear, with 3 cameras, included memory card and more.

There is a lot to like about the REXING - V5 PLUS DASHCAM. For example, all the camera lenses are adjustable to allow for optimal aiming. Everything you need to get up and running is included. There is also a “starter” 32 GB SD memory card and cables, and mounting gear.

A few things you should know that are not obvious from the description. If you choose to operate all 3 cameras at the same time, then all your images are all downgraded from 4K to 1080p. If you want 4K then you can only record one 4K image and up to one other 1080P image (for example front 4K and rear 1080p). In my case, I really don’t need the cabin camera, so I’m fine with just using front and rear view.

The 4K vs 1080p issue probably does not matter as much as it might sound. The image sensor listed on the REXING - V5 PLUS website is rated for 5MP (megapixels). To get a true 4K image you need at least an 8MP sensor. So, if this information is correct, then the 4K image is being upscaled anyway (which is common on many cameras in this range and not necessarily a show stopping issue).

To use the rear camera, you need to snake a cable from the camera head unit to the rear window (it is not wireless).

You should also know that there is no suction cup installation, only the industrial sticky tape mounts are provided. Since I lease my car, (and it is due to be turned in shortly), I did not want to risk permanently mounting the dashcam. I assume there is a solvent that would remove the tape if needed. On the plus side this means the REXING - V5 PLUS DASHCAM is not likely to fall from your windshield and cause a distraction as I have experienced with other suction cup mounted dashcams. The camera can be removed from the window mount, the window mount is more or less permanently stuck to the window. (a little 2 inch square).

Picture Quality [PQ] on the REXING - V5 PLUS DASHCAM is good. The front facing camera has the best image quality of the 3 cameras. The rear camera is also very good. However, the interior camera is not that good at all. Everything in the cabin has a purple tint that is very easy to notice (see pics). My roof is black but shows as bright purple in the recordings. In a side-by-side test with a different 4K camera my wife and I both preferred the overall appearance of the REXING - V5 PLUS DASHCAM image, but it was artificially softened and thus missing enough detail to easily read license plate numbers on the car in front of you.

The Voice Control Commands work well for example “Turn on the Screen”, “Turn on WiFi”.

PROS

- All Cameras can be angled or rotated once in place to fine tune where they are pointed

- Cables are plenty long enough and the rear cable is in two parts for easily hiding wires

Rexing support was excellent and we were able to work together to find a bug preventing the phone app to connect via WiFi to the dashcam. This updated app version will probably be released by the time this review is published. The app is primarily used to view or download videos to your phone. If you want to do real movie processing you will probably be better off removing the SD card from the dashcam and editing movies on a real computer. I do wish the app allowed you to change all the dashcam settings instead of only a few, but again, once you have it set the way you want, you probably wont need the settings anyway.

Physically, the installation of the REXING - V5 PLUS DASHCAM was easy and straight forward. The menu keys (not touch screen) were a little cumbersome, though you probably only have to use them for initial setup. There is no tilt or swivel of the screen itself, so wherever you stick the mounting bracket that is where it goes. Really, you don’t want the distraction anyway, so my suggestion is to put as far away from you as possible.

RECOMMENDATION

If you are after an affordable and complete all in one 3 stream camera system (maybe you drive a car for hire), then the REXING - V5 PLUS DASHCAM is a great choice for consideration. If you just want the best forward facing dashcam image you can get, you might want to shop for better optics in other models.

THE BREAKDOWN:

This REXING- V5 PLUS 3-Channel 4K DashCam 2.7 LCD with voice control, Wi-Fi and GPS is priced right and is very easy to install.

Everything you need to get this up and running is in the box. It even included a 32G SD memory card to get you started. Once installed the cameras are easy to move around and fine toon to your needs.

One thing to note about this camera system is that you enable all 3 cameras then the quality will drop from 4K to 1080p. You can however have your front camera on 4K and the rear camera will be at 1080p. For myself I really don’t have a use for the cabin or inside camera. If I was a lyft or Uber driver I could see the use.

The installation was pretty straight forward, and it even came with a little plastic tool to help hide the cable. This whole process took me around 20 min.

The images were best on the front camera. The rear camera was good but not excellent and the cabin camera was the worse of the three. Like I said that wasn’t an issue for me as I will not likely use the cabin camera.

For me the app was just ok. With the app you can view the footage straight on your phone. The streaming of the video to my phone really wasn’t that bad. It wasn’t instant but it was good. If you want to download your data you have to take the micro SD card out of the camera an plug it in your computer. Then download the media to save it or share it.

SUMMARY:

Overall, this product worked as intended, and I would recommend this to a friend if they are in the market for device like this that is portable and gets the job done.

The Rexing V5 Plus is a complete package needed for recording incidents in the car. It is a 3-piece system consisting of a front, cabin, and a rear camera. The front and cabin camera is housed together, while the rear camera is a separate unit that needs to be wired to the front unit.

From a design point of view, the Rexing dash cam (front unit) is pretty large, and I had a hard time finding a good spot on the windshield of my truck. Especially, since a large area near the rear-view mirror is occupied by the safety sensors. This, and the particular share makes it quite difficult to mount it discreetly. I have tried multiple places, but never found a place that hides the camera from outside view. Other dashcams (especially the wedge shaped ones) are easier to do so. Furthermore, the position of the cables (1 for power, and another for the rear cam) does not help at all.

As for the video quality: the front camera offers 4k resolution, but I kept it at 1080p, siding with a higher frame rate. The overall video and images from all 3 are adequate. The cabin cam has a purplish tint. The rear camera is ok. Overall with stock settings, the videos look ordinary - it gets the job done in terms of clarity, color etc., but nothing to be blown away withI didn’t fiddle much with the settings yet as I was trying to test it out with “out of the box” settings so I believe there is room for improvements.

Mounting and setting up went without a hitch from the camera point of view. The included mounting hardware is straightforward to use. However I wish the instructions were a little more elaborate.

The Rexing V5 offers WiFi connectivity via the Rexing Connect app. For a couple of days I couldn’t connect it to the camera at all. However, an app update seems to have solved this issue. The app is good for video viewing (including a live view), but not all the settings of the camera can be controlled by that - this is a major bummer for me as I wish I could change those without fumbling with the on-camera buttons (which is not easy while it’s mounted).

Overall, I’m happy with the Rexing V5, as it offers a good package in this 3-camera system. WiFi connectivity is a good added bonus though the app has limited functionality. The video quality is workable with default settings. Definitely something to consider if you’re in the market for a 4k dashcam.

The Rexing V5 Plus Dashboard Camera comes with three (3) cameras, front, rear and cabin, allowing you to have recorded video of your surroundings and inside your car whenever needed. It has voice commands that allow you to control the most common actions on the device while driving so that you don’t get distracted reaching out with your hand to, for example, stop/start recording. The device can be configured to record feeds from one, two or the three cameras, so it is very versatile. It starts operating as soon as you turn on your car and starts recording by default.

Although I am not a shared car driver, I believe this device would be very useful for them. As a private driver, it provides my family and me with peace of mind, as we have video recordings in case we need to have video proofs or even provides video evidence of events that happen outside while we are driving. In these modern and litigious/dangerous times, I strongly believe a dashcam is a must have.

I think this device is between 4 and a perfect 5 from what I have experienced in the last few days:

- Pros: voice commands, three-way cameras, high quality video.

- Cons: Concealing the cables is hard.

>> Installation/Setup

This device doesn’t come with a suction cup to attach it to your windshield and detach when desired. As a result, picking a good place where to attach it to the windshield needs some time.

The booklet Installation steps states to first place the 3M tape near the edge of the windshield and secure the T-interlock, but then you may encounter issues securing the actual device to T-interlock (not enough space to slide the camera in) or you may not be pleased where the camera resulted to end up located at. So, what I did first was to plug the camera and turn on the car and do the basic camera configurations; next I tried different positions close to edge of the windshield that would feel more convenient and easier to access the device. After finding the perfect spot, I placed the 3M tape and attached the T-interlock which allows me to unplug the camera and detach it from the windshield whenever needed.

That is the easy part, the most difficult part is concealing the cables, it was a nightmare for me to place the cables under the trim (I installed the camera on a RAV4). Luckily the device comes with some 3M attachments for cable management that can be attached at different locations for securing the cables, especially useful for installing the rear camera. This is a drawback for any device that needs to run cables around the car.

In summary, I’d first plug in the camera and determine where things look better before placing the 3M tape and mount.

>> Cameras and recording

As mentioned before, the device has three (3) cameras and you can setup to have only one, two or the three recording at the same time. In addition, you can physically remove the cabin cam if wanted; perhaps for private users inside recording might not be something desired, but definitely for a shared driver having recording inside the car is a must.

Each camera has its own file that is saved on the SD card and the video quality is very good. I’ve noticed that the videos recordings are 1-min long, and I haven’t tried changing that, I think for the most part that should be sufficient. The device rolls over old footage, so the 256GB SD car that came with the device seems good enough so far.

>> Voice commands

This is one feature that I like very much for controlling the device while driving, it does an excellent job at recognizing our voices/commands. There are commands to start/stop recording, for changing the view of the camera (rear, front or all).

There is a chart with the different commands supported by the camera that comes with the device. Perhaps having a “list commands” command would have come handy to hear what commands are available and not resort to the chart (while the different commands are memorized).

>> App and Wireless connection

This is the next most useful feature, basically controlling most of the settings through the phone App and being able to see the recordings on my phone rather than on the device or on a computer. The App allows you to see the videos, lock them secure if needed, and to delete them. It also gives you live feed of the cameras, so I am thinking on perhaps getting a Tablet and install the App there to get easier access to the rear camera when backing up, for example.

I’ve been unsuccessful to connect the device to a laptop or desktop or docking station. According to support it is due to how much energy the device needs.

Unfortunately, the Park Monitoring module needs to be purchased separately, I wish it was part of the default package.

Not a big fan of the touch screen buttons. But overall so far so good

I shopped around for a while looking for a new touch screen unit finally decided to go with the JVC - 6.8" KW-V6660

It has everything I was looking for

Apple play, Android Mirroring,

touch screen, Bluetooth, CD & DVD.

Great unit, Great sound, had it installed by Best buy.. they did a awesome job installing it! It looks factory you would never know it's aftermarket, they even hooked up my backup camera and stirring wheel controls. My only complaint is some glare from the sun.

But over all! Good unit!

I am very satisfied with this JVC stereo/carplay. It is user friendly, which I really needed that. The screen is bright & clear. I chose this carplay because it had all the features I wanted including a cd player. It easily connected up with my phone.

Awesome radio great screen with dvds eq is also easy to use and great sound

After much searching for an affordable reputable brand stereo, I settled on this one. I had a few important traits I was looking for. It needed the ability to play CDs, be Bluetooth enabled, and to be able to connect to my phone to display GPS on the screen. Android Auto was the promised solution for this. But from the get-go it was flaky. While it will do Bluetooth to my phone for playing music and audio apps you have to plug into the USB port for GPS. After connecting to Android Auto after a couple of minutes it would crash and you'd have to start all over again. By this time you're now driving down the road and have to try to get it going again while moving which was presenting an even worse scenario than just using my phone only for GPS from the beginning. I don't know why Android Auto keeps crashing? Another minor frustration is it takes about 10-15 seconds to boot up which seems like a long time when you want to set music or book app up before you start driving.

Radio replaced 2004 GMC YUKON original radio. It gave me Apple Car Play (with hardwire cable). I thought the original radio was bad, but it turned out to be the original amplifier. I “think” radio crashed on me one time after 30 minutes of play, but I need more screen time to be sure. Not sure if sound is as good as original radio ??? (But it’s close.)

Love the radio, easy to use except for the volume. It’s kind of a pain to turn the volume up or down while you’re driving since you have to push the button. Just seems to be awkward to me. Wish it was a knob instead or had the switch on my steering wheel. Other than that it’sa great radio.

The Rexing V3 Plus dashcam demonstrates good quality and performance. High quality dashcam video can be of extraordinary importance by documenting precisely what occurred in a traffic accident or incident, and the video quality of the Rexing V3 is excellent.

The Rexing V3 Plus comes with a 12’ power cord with cigarette lighter plug, two adhesive windshield mounting brackets, six adhesive cable clips for the power cord, a USB cable for downloading videos to a computer and a plastic trim prying tool to facilitate concealing the power cable. The V3 Plus does not contain a rechargeable battery. Instead, it has a super-capacitor which is touted as being less sensitive to extreme temperatures.

The Rexing V3 does not come with the required Micro SD card, nor does it come with a suction cup windshield mount or the hardwired installation kit which is required in order to use the Parked Vehicle functions of the dashcam. It would have been very nice for those essential components to be included with the dashcam in order for it to be immediately usable and capable of supporting all of the important functionality. The V3 requires a UHS1 Class 10 Micro SD card up to 256 GB capacity. Rexing warns not to use a San Disk ULTRA SD card.

The Rexing V3 has two cameras and is capable of two channel, dual camera recording at a maximum resolution of 1080p at 30 FPS. If only the front camera is recorded, higher resolutions are available including 2160p/24 FPS, 1440p/30 FPS or 1080p/ 60 FPS. Generally, a higher frame rate will produce smoother videos. The video recording format is H 264 (.mp4 files).

The front facing camera is adjustable for elevation with a knob on the left side of the housing, and the rear facing, cabin camera is also adjustable. The front camera sensor is a Sony Starvis and the cabin camera sensor is either a Sony IMX323 Exmor according to the Rexing website, or a Sony OV2053 according to the PDF Manual, or a second Starvis according to a Rexing marketing video. Both are f 1.8 aperture and have a 170° field of view, or the rear facing camera might have a 150° field of view according to Rexing web marketing material. The CPU is a Novatek 96660. The cabin camera has four IR emitters for night recording. The Rexing V3 also has a switchable cabin microphone .

The Rexing V3 is not a three channel recorder, and does not include or support a rear window camera. There is a rear-camera input jack on the dashcam, which the Manual states is “currently not supported”. Hopefully, Rexing intends to update the firmware and support connection of a rear window camera in the future. The Rexing V3 cabin camera is ideally suited to taxi and ride-share drivers who want to document for-hire transportation. For the rest of us, the cabin camera might be valuable in documenting that the driver was awake and alert and not distracted or using a cell phone, etc., at the time of a traffic mishap.

The Rexing V3 has an integral 2.7” LCD display with 16:9 aspect ratio. The display may be switched off (to prevent driver distraction), or it may be configured to display either camera full-screen, or one camera in full-screen with the other camera as a small, Picture In Picture display.

All setup and operational functions are controlled with an array of five, small push-buttons on the bottom of the dashcam housing, most of which serve multiple functions depending on dashcam mode and interval for which the button is depressed.

The left-most button is Power On/Off, which has the dual function of toggling the display screen. Next is the Menu button and the third and fourth buttons are the Scroll buttons for menu items, video playback functions, toggling audio on/off during recording mode (arrow down) and changing display views (arrow up). The right-most button is the “OK” button, for selecting menu items. Holding the OK button during recording locks the active video clip (1, 2 or 3 minute clip). Locked videos are preserved and protected from being overwritten (until manually deleted) during the continuous loop recording, with new videos overwriting the oldest files once the memory card capacity has been reached. Holding the Menu button switches between Recording and Playback Modes. Holding the Menu button for three seconds switches between Video and Photo (Still) Modes. There are numerous quality settings available for still photos.

The Wi-Fi Connect functionality of the Rexing V3 allows connecting with the dashcam via the Rexing Connect smartphone app (Android and iOS versions). The app provides another means of downloading video files from the dashcam. Wi-Fi defaults to “Off” whenever the dashcam is power cycled, and requires being manually turned on when needed. Video files are large, so direct file transfer from the micro SD card to the computer worked best for me. Unfortunately, when attempting to connect the dashcam to Windows 10 computers via USB for Mass Storage (file transfer) or PC Camera functions, the computers refused to recognize the dashcam.

GPS functionality is integral to the Rexing V3 Plus. When active, it embeds GPS data with the video files. Videos with embedded GPS data include route graphics on the map display and vehicle speed throughout the drive. Viewing videos with embedded GPS data requires downloading and installing the “GPS Logger” software (Windows and Mac versions). There are multiple, product specific versions of GPS Logger. The correct file for this model is: JMS DVR GPS Player V3_2.20 Release.zip.

This allows the dashcam to differentiate between ignition On – Driving Mode, and ignition Off – Parking Mode. I believe that it would be very useful to have the ability to manually switch the unit between Driving Mode and Parking Mode via the switches on the dashcam body when using the cigarette lighter power cord.

Parking Mode is extremely valuable for protecting the parked vehicle against collision, hit and run or vandalism. The Smart Hardwire kit and Suction Cup Mount really should be included with the dashcam, and the ability to manually switch the unit to Parking Monitor Mode when using the cigarette lighter cord should be supported by the firmware, as well. Anyone intending to move the Rexing V3 Plus among multiple vehicles will find the Suction Cup Mount to be valuable.

Firmware updates require downloading a zip file to a computer, and copying the extracted .bin file to a Micro SD card which is then installed in the camera. Powering on the camera will install the update. The SD Card must be reformatted both before and after being used for a firmware update. Thus if using the SD Card that contains videos, they need to be transferred off the SD Card first, lest they be erased during the reformat. Rexing recommends updating firmware only if there are operational problems with the current version.

Physical installation of the Rexing V3 Plus dashcam was quick and easy when using the Suction Cup Mount that was purchased as an accessory. The Suction Cup Mount facilitates easily moving the dashcam among multiple vehicles, and also facilitates easily moving the camera’s position to choose the best mounting location on the windshield. Using the adhesive mountings would not readily facilitate repositioning the dashcam for the optimal mounting location.

Configuration of the Rexing V3 Plus dashcam is simple and straightforward. The menus are clear and logical, and afford great flexibility in the setup configuration.

Operation of the Rexing V3 Plus dashcam in the vehicle is generally simple, as well. The dashcam boots up when vehicle power is supplied, and using any of the buttons for shortcut operations is fine once you become familiar with those functions and so long as the dashcam is mounted within easy and safe reach of the driver.

The video quality produced by the Rexing V3 Plus is excellent. I experimented with various recording settings and compared the videos. When operating in dual-camera mode, the highest quality available is 1080p at 30 FPS, which I found to be very good. However, when operating in front (single) camera mode, the higher quality 1080p at 60 FPS video was smoother. Even better was the video at 2160p and 24 FPS. The legibility of license plates of vehicles in front of your vehicle is a helpful determinant.

Rexing Support is via email contact only during the current Covid-19 pandemic (phone support is suspended). I had occasion to contact support twice regarding unrelated matters. The first inquiry received a response with misinformation. The second inquiry never received any response or acknowledgement at all. These two disappointing experiences with Rexing Support were surprising and do not inspire confidence.

Overall, I find the Rexing V3 Plus to be an excellent dashcam, with a good set of features and solid performance. The most important attributes for any dashcam are good, clear, high-quality video coupled with reliable performance and ease of use. The Rexing V3 Plus certainly meets all expectations, and the critically important video quality was impressive. I’m certainly pleased to have the Rexing V3 Plus mounted on my windshield!

This is my first dash cam, so I really didn’t know what to expect going in to this product but I have to say that so far, I’m quite pleased. Out of the box, this is a relatively unassuming package. No fancy display, fonts, or packaging, just the equipment to get everything up and running.

I would say the first, and only real hurdle with the product is the actual installation process. Seeing as every car is different, and can have different headaches, it’s certainly not a bad idea to pony up a small amount to have this professionally installed. The included instructions do a pretty poor job of walking you through what you needed to know and I had to figure quite a bit out on my own. The process from start to finish probably took just about an hour and was frustrating since you don’t want to mess up.

Basically you plug in the camera to the cigarette adapter in your car for power. The power cord is very long so you loop it around the internal seal of your car, and use the provided tool to jam the wire into the seal so it largely becomes invisible to the naked eye. The other hassle is just ensuring you’re mounting the camera properly. My initial mount wasn’t positioned properly so having to remount was a bit of a headache. You can’t really test how this will actually all look until you mount the camera, test it, then go review the footage, which is understandable but frustrating.

As for the camera itself, which is really why we’re here, it’s really incredible. The setup was simple and the video quality was absurdly great.

The camera has both a forward facing camera, set up almost as a fish eye lens to catch what’s happening all around. It also has an inwards facing cam, which in my opinion is largely unimportant unless you were a taxi or Uber driver and wanted your passengers to be recorded.

The camera automatically turns on when the car is on and off when the power is off, so you’ll mostly set it and forget it. The camera is small so over time I’ve noticed it less and less. Once something we’re to happen, like an accident, you would remove the memory device from the camera and hook it to your computer, or just hook the camera to the computer, either with provided equipment. Once in your computer you can view and edit your saved videos. The amount and length of what is saved to the memory card is variable depending on how high you set the video quality. The camera can also capture interior sound, which isn’t largely important unless you’re running carpool karaoke.

Their is an accompanying app that is supposed to allow you to stream and save videos from your phone. Unfortunately through my experiences and those others in the App Store, the app seemingly doesn’t work at all.

Overall, while installation is a pain, alongside the poor app, this is truly a good camera based upon video quality alone. Not to mention ease of use, a small size, and the ability to record sound, this is a recommended buy.

The Rexing V3 Plus dashcam demonstrates good quality and performance. High quality dashcam video can be of extraordinary importance by documenting precisely what occurred in a traffic accident or incident, and the video quality of the Rexing V3 is excellent.

The Rexing V3 Plus comes with a 12’ power cord with cigarette lighter plug, two adhesive windshield mounting brackets, six adhesive cable clips for the power cord, a USB cable for downloading videos to a computer and a plastic trim prying tool to facilitate concealing the power cable. The V3 Plus does not contain a rechargeable battery. Instead, it has a super-capacitor which is touted as being less sensitive to extreme temperatures.

The Rexing V3 does not come with the required Micro SD card, nor does it come with a suction cup windshield mount or the hardwired installation kit which is required in order to use the Parked Vehicle functions of the dashcam. It would have been very nice for those essential components to be included with the dashcam in order for it to be immediately usable and capable of supporting all of the important functionality. The V3 requires a UHS1 Class 10 Micro SD card up to 256 GB capacity. Rexing warns not to use a San Disk ULTRA SD card.

The Rexing V3 has two cameras and is capable of two channel, dual camera recording at a maximum resolution of 1080p at 30 FPS. If only the front camera is recorded, higher resolutions are available including 2160p/24 FPS, 1440p/30 FPS or 1080p/ 60 FPS. Generally, a higher frame rate will produce smoother videos. The video recording format is H 264 (.mp4 files).

The front facing camera is adjustable for elevation with a knob on the left side of the housing, and the rear facing, cabin camera is also adjustable. The front camera sensor is a Sony Starvis and the cabin camera sensor is either a Sony IMX323 Exmor according to the Rexing website, or a Sony OV2053 according to the PDF Manual, or a second Starvis according to a Rexing marketing video. Both are f 1.8 aperture and have a 170° field of view, or the rear facing camera might have a 150° field of view according to Rexing web marketing material. The CPU is a Novatek 96660. The cabin camera has four IR emitters for night recording. The Rexing V3 also has a switchable cabin microphone .

The Rexing V3 is not a three channel recorder, and does not include or support a rear window camera. There is a rear-camera input jack on the dashcam, which the Manual states is “currently not supported”. Hopefully, Rexing intends to update the firmware and support connection of a rear window camera in the future. The Rexing V3 cabin camera is ideally suited to taxi and ride-share drivers who want to document for-hire transportation. For the rest of us, the cabin camera might be valuable in documenting that the driver was awake and alert and not distracted or using a cell phone, etc., at the time of a traffic mishap.

The Rexing V3 has an integral 2.7” LCD display with 16:9 aspect ratio. The display may be switched off (to prevent driver distraction), or it may be configured to display either camera full-screen, or one camera in full-screen with the other camera as a small, Picture In Picture display.

All setup and operational functions are controlled with an array of five, small push-buttons on the bottom of the dashcam housing, most of which serve multiple functions depending on dashcam mode and interval for which the button is depressed.

The left-most button is Power On/Off, which has the dual function of toggling the display screen. Next is the Menu button and the third and fourth buttons are the Scroll buttons for menu items, video playback functions, toggling audio on/off during recording mode (arrow down) and changing display views (arrow up). The right-most button is the “OK” button, for selecting menu items. Holding the OK button during recording locks the active video clip (1, 2 or 3 minute clip). Locked videos are preserved and protected from being overwritten (until manually deleted) during the continuous loop recording, with new videos overwriting the oldest files once the memory card capacity has been reached. Holding the Menu button switches between Recording and Playback Modes. Holding the Menu button for three seconds switches between Video and Photo (Still) Modes. There are numerous quality settings available for still photos.

The Wi-Fi Connect functionality of the Rexing V3 allows connecting with the dashcam via the Rexing Connect smartphone app (Android and iOS versions). The app provides another means of downloading video files from the dashcam. Wi-Fi defaults to “Off” whenever the dashcam is power cycled, and requires being manually turned on when needed. Video files are large, so direct file transfer from the micro SD card to the computer worked best for me. Unfortunately, when attempting to connect the dashcam to Windows 10 computers via USB for Mass Storage (file transfer) or PC Camera functions, the computers refused to recognize the dashcam.

GPS functionality is integral to the Rexing V3 Plus. When active, it embeds GPS data with the video files. Videos with embedded GPS data include route graphics on the map display and vehicle speed throughout the drive. Viewing videos with embedded GPS data requires downloading and installing the “GPS Logger” software (Windows and Mac versions). There are multiple, product specific versions of GPS Logger. The correct file for this model is: JMS DVR GPS Player V3_2.20 Release.zip.

This is my second time owning a dashcam and I must say they have come a long way since my first. Rexing put together a very nice camera with some great features. Although I don’t use all of the features, I did put them to the test. The packaging was great, very protective for the unit. The camera itself was very easy to install and get up and running. The one con I found and the reason I docked a star was due to the mount. It is a stick-on 3M adhesive angle mount that gives 0 flexibility to move around on your windshield once placed. I think it would have been near perfect had it been some sort of suction cup ball mount that gave you more flexibility as far as angles and such. Don’t get me wrong this can probably be done but to have to go and purchase one else where is less convenient. That really is my only dislike about this unit.

The unit takes excellent video. Although I don’t use the interior camera, I did test it out and I was very happy to see that on the camera card itself the front facing camera and cabin facing camera recorded video in 2 separate files. So, the cabin camera has a file and the road camera has its own file. The quality was strikingly superb on both. I opted to use the highest resolution 2160p 24fps the majority of the time, however I may end up using the 1440p resolution to get the 30fps. 60fps is only available in the 1080p mode. The cabin camera has a max resolution of 1080p 30fps which is perfect. The menu settings are very easy to maneuver even with the camera mounted. I found it very simple to go in and change the resolution and adjust the settings.

I also purchased the Rexing smart hardwire kit for the camera which was very easy to install and further expanded the functionality of the camera. Another con I noticed was to remove the memory card you have to remove the camera. At least this is the case where I mounted it. It would have made more sense to locate the memory card slot on the side or bottom of the unit to avoid having to remove it. I highly suggest the hardwire kit as it gives you the ability to record while parked and your engine is off. It’s also more convenient as it does not take up a lighter charge port in your car. I also noticed the built in GPS on the unit is very accurate!

I highly recommend this camera to anyone who is looking to purchase a dash cam. It has great video and sound quality and tons of useful features!

Well the first time I plugged it in and turned it on it froze on the intro screen. I thought I would have to return it. After a few minutes it came on, but it has continued to do this. Right now it is frozen on the intro screen. I have reset it many times and checked everything and it will not go past the white screen that says Rexing Dash Cam V3. I have only had it about a month. The app also doesn't work well. It will not share directly to Facebook. You have to share to their site and from there to Facebook and it's only a link that doesn't work 98% of the time. App keeps saying Network Timeout or failed to load. You have to go back and reconnect the wifi to the unit and start over. Switch back to wifi or data for internet and try again. This unit is too expensive to be going through this. I am bringing back to Geek Squad since it us still under warranty and I bought extended warranty as well. I wouldn't recommend at this point. Also the windshield mount is not adjustable. Unless your windshield is the perfect angle the unit will face the ceiling. You can adjust the cameras to work like this but the LCD screen will not face you. They should include the suction cup mount that is adjustable which I had to order extra from Amazon.

Verdict: The Rexing V3 Dash cam is a great device that was easy to install and works as advertised.

Initial impressions. The camera looks well-designed, with adjustable angles on both the front and rear cameras. The package includes the dash cam, a 32GB Micro SD card (thank you for that!), a very long power cord, a “cable management” tool (essentially a tool to wedge the power cord under the trim of the car), two mounts, two 3M stickers for the mounts, a transfer cable, some sticky clips, and a useful quick-start guide. There is an app available that helps manage the camera; when I downloaded it, it was rated terribly (1 star). I expected to have trouble setting up the camera, formatting the SD card, and using the app, based what I had read on the app reviews.

Setup. The quick-start guide does a good job guiding each step of the setup. I plugged-in the dash cam and it started up right away. I inserted the included SD card and it started working right away, not need to format… nice! Then, I assessed the best location to mount the camera, ensuring that the view of the front camera was unobstructed; doing this is much easier if the camera is on so that you can see what is on the screen. I peeled the 3M sticker and placed it on the mount, then stuck it to the windshield. So far, so good! I used the cable management tool to tuck the cable away under the trim all the way around the windshield, down the side of the door, under the glove box, and then to the power source. I thought this would be harder, but the trim of the car will easily accommodate a cable. Lastly, I downloaded the app, installed it, and connected it to the dash cam through wifi. My dash cam looks professionally installed, and it works great!

App. The app works perfectly! I am not sure why it is rated so low; perhaps it wasn’t good before and Rexing fixed it. My experience is that it works well, and it is actually pretty useful to quickly update settings, view your recordings, and download videos. I recommend downloading it.

Usage. The dash cam works well. As soon as the ignition turns on, the dash cam lights up and starts recording. Nothing else to do! I have it set on 2 min loops (options are 1 min, 2 min, and 3 min). The camera stores several loops until the memory card is full, then it begins to overwrite the older files. It also has a g-force sensor that will lock a video file when an accident is detected. However, I am confused about the g-force setting… Does “low” mean low sensitivity (it takes a lot of force to trigger it), or does it mean low threshold (it will trigger with little force)? The camera also has a GPS tracker; the GPS status is displayed on the screen.

Things I like:

- It just works! No need to turn it on, and no need to think about it.

- The buttons are easy to use

- The cameras have adjustable angles

- Setup up was easier than expected, including hiding the power cord under the trim

- The app works well and it is useful to control the dash cam

- Dual camera, with a nice implementation when viewing recorded videos

Things I don’t like:

- The 3M sticker is grey… why? The mount and camera are black, so the grey sticker sticks out when looking from the outside of the car (see picture). A black sticker would have blended better with the package, and would not be as visible from outside the car

- A manual that explains the settings of the camera would be useful. The g-force setting is not clear, for example

- Including two mounts is a nice touch, but if the power cord is installed in the trim, then the dash cam can’t easily be used in another car. Perhaps the package should include a second power cord?

Overall, this dash cam is great. It was easy to setup. It comes with everything you need, including an SD card that is already formatted. And it has a useful app. I don’t know about the longevity of this camera… time will tell. However, based on my experience thus far, this dash cam appears to be a great option.

The Rexing V3+ Front and Cabin Dash Cam is a comprehensive camera that is fairly easy to use and works pretty much out of the box. Its features are many. To start with it has a field of view that is almost 180 degrees, a G-sensor which detects an accident and locks the current video automatically, and a built-in wi-fi that is app controlled for videoing or still photography. Weighing just under 1 lb., it is 3.4 inches in height, 5.5 inches wide, and 7.2 inches deep. The Dashcam has a 1-year warranty.

The operating system is compatible with Mac OS and windows and the app can be downloaded from either the Apple or Google app stores. The unit is easy to install and installs in minutes. Surprisingly, there are many small crevices in most cars that makes it easy to completely hide all of the cord. The kit comes with all that is needed to install and start using the camera. If the cord remains plugged into a power outlet or cigarette lighter, the camera will turn on when the automobile’s battery is engaged, and the vehicle is started. A supercapacitor battery is internal to the camera and this temperature resistant alternative to a lithium ion battery adds even more reliability to the product’s features. The camera can record to itself in a loop which the user can determine between the choices of 1, 3 or 5 minutes and it can record to an external disk if the disk is a Micro SD, Micro SDHC or Micro SDXC, class 10 or higher, with a capacity of up to 256GB.

And that is not all this little Dashcam can do! The camera has a recording resolution of 2880 x 2160 with a frame rate of 30 frames per second. It can capture Full HD 1920 x 1080 video at 30 fps with both lenses and allow Ultra HD Single-Channel Recording of 2880 x 2160. Two other great usable features that it has is the GPS Enabled logger which allows for adding time, date, location marks and speed information to all recordings without needing any separate accessory. and the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) which provides real time lane departure warnings. The camera also has infrared night vision which ensures low-light photography and clear, visible nighttime videos and photographs. With the wide Dynamic Range feature, the camera performs optimally in any lighting situation by adjusting the exposure to create balanced images and footage.

I was able to install the cord in my vehicle to be completely concealed and mount the camera in minutes. I tried too hard to format the card and connect the camera to the wi-fi from the camera settings. All of this becomes seamless when the camera was running, and the app connected. Prior to discovering this ‘easy connect’, I did turn the camera on and off several times, each time removing the card and trying to format it with no luck until, the app allowed for this to be easily done. When the app allowed for easy connection of the camera, everything else fell into place. The card formatted, the Wi-Fi allowed viewing of any photo and/or video and I was then able to take videos and photos with the camera using the app. The videos and photos can be transferred to a computer by either using the micro card or by using the provided USB and directly connecting your camera to the computer.

This is a very nice Dashcam and it offers extras with the GPS, Wi-Fi, and Lane Assist that makes it awesome. I was not versed on Dash Cameras enough to know these things could co-exist and work in conjunction with the Dashcam. These are very important and useful features and they certainly make this Dashcam a winner among its competitors. I really like the camera and am still finding different adjustments and applications so that I can make great videos – day and night.

Hello I’m writing to all buys to beware of this camera if you live in hot environments especially in the summer. The screen will peel off the camera and debris cause damage to the screen and night vision. Please look at the photos for details. I thought this was a defective product and had gotten it replaced under the warranty. Received new unit just to have the same thing happen. I think they don’t put quality adhesive on the screen which allows it to be detached from the screen when heat is applied to it from the sun. I’m saying like 85 degrees Fahrenheit. THIS IS NOT A ONE PRODUCT DEFECT! Oh and customer service is only through email and make it a pain to get replacements.

Will not work for a S type brand dash cam. It looks like it could be in the photos but it’s a different size.

This allows you to attach the dash cam to the car window via suction cup, vs. permanent adhesive which is included with the dash cam. Highly recommend. Works perfect.

This mount did not fit the dash cam. It would have been nice if the part that clipped onto the dash cam had measurements so customers could evaluate the fit before purchasing.

I am quite pleased with my purchase. Installed in 2012 Chevy Equinox. Wireless Android auto is great! The system overall it's pretty quick and snappy. The preamp in the unit makes the factory system sound non existent. Great unit great price!

The wifi and Bluetooth on this is beyond shotty. I’ll try to switch it to USB and it’ll take 10 minutes of unplugging, replugging and messing with setting before it recognizes there is a device connected. I spent ~$5000 for a stereo system and install on my Ferrari, and this thing is an absolutel JOKE!

The rest of my system is amazing. This unit does look nice, but it is severely lacking in functionality and actually very distracting while you’re driving.

I wish I listened to the negative reviews and purchased something else. Don’t make this mistake!

I bought this unit for the wireless carplay and sleek look, but the experience has been less than stellar. Saying that, when it works, it's brilliant. I haven't really bothered with any of the features outside of Carplay as the UI is extremely cumbersome and the hotspot setup is a pain. Carplay is where the trouble starts however, nine times out of ten it will not start automatically on boot-up, which leads to a trip through several clicks of the base system. I'd rather have saved my money and spent the time it takes getting to Carplay by just plugging into a non-wireless sytem. I also don't understand why these new NEX systems don't offer the ability to customize the splash screen, but that's not too much of a concern. Probably the biggest issue with this system are its touch buttons. In the event that you actually manage to hit the small touch window that activates any of the switches, there is substantial lag in any operation. Adjusting volume is an absolute nightmare and best left to the remote that comes bundled with the device (or steering wheel controls should you be so equipped). Otherwise the system is decent and gets the job done, the screen is bright and even in my convertible in direct sunlight is legible.

If you can do without wireless carplay, I'd save the money and get another unit. This simply isn't worth the premium for an otherwise lackluster device. Once they sort out the software bugs that may change though.

I picked this up as for a vehicle without CarPlay. I have the AVH-2550NEX wired CarPlay receiver in one of my other vehicles and picked this up in hopes of getting the wireless CarPlay experience.

Pros:

- Display is bright and easy enough to use. Compared to another brand and model I picked up to choose between the two, a Kenwood DMX907S, this screen appears brighter than the Kenwood and in terms of touch use, appears to be cleaner. For example, the Kenwood seems to get more "smudgy" than this one, so perhaps Pioneer is using a better screen coating to help with this. While I didn't have a way to measure it, visually, it appears the LCD screen of the Pioneer is closer to the glass than the Kenwood, which might explain its seemingly brighter appearance.

- Wireless CarPlay connects reliably so far and without issues. (v.1.30 firmware)

- HD Radio (love the clearer and fuller sound that comes with this)

- Wired CarPlay/Android Auto with a single port (Kenwood uses two separate USB lines for some reason, with each not playing nicely with the other standard).

- Fewer "buttons" or touch zones on the face (compared to the 2660NEX), making it less likely you'll press the wrong one while trying to keep your eyes on the road.

- Customizable home screen (within limits)

Cons:

- No mute/attenuate button, also my main gripe with an otherwise enjoyable 2550NEX. Really, Pioneer? Yes, you can press and hold a button for mute to take effect, but if you think about times in your vehicle with a traditional radio when you want silence, you want it to be as simple and reaching out and pushing or twisting the knob. You don't want to be holding a button for two seconds waiting for it to take effect. I know many newer vehicle will have such controls on the steering wheel, but mine doesn't and it's annoying to not have the immediate responsiveness of a volume knob or dedicated mute/attenuate button to remedy that.

- The new user interface on this model (and it's bigger siblings) is slow. The respective functions, for example, HD Radio, CarPlay, and settings, all tend to work well but the the home screen of the UI/OS takes longer than when it appears to be fully functional. For example, while boot time is about 8 seconds to get you to the warning and home screen, you're left with a bit of a Windows XP experience as you wait for the respective functions of the device to become fully functional. If you select HD Radio or try and adjust the volume up or down, you won't get a response for some time, perhaps as little as 5 seconds or as many as 10-15 seconds. I can appreciate Pioneer's efforts to create a fast boot time but if the system isn't actually functional when the home screen pops up, I would prefer a slightly longer boot time to yield a fully functional home screen.

-- Per the UI concerns, swiping to different screens feels and looks slow & is at times unresponsive. I'm not sure what the refresh rate is on the screen, but when swiping to another screen it seems as though you can see the sort of flickering you might expect of a slower refresh rate. Pioneer also tries to give that movement an effect, somewhat akin to a slow-close cabinet or dresser drawer. You can make a swift swiping motion, but the movement of the graphics on the screen slows that down with the noted "slow-close" effect. There are also times where multiple attempts to try and swipe to a different screen are needed to get it to do so.

-- UI Design elements: The home screen is okay and I like that you can move around and decide which "apps" or functions you want on it. For example, a workaround for not having a mute button is to have "Source Off" as a function on the "dock" of the home screen (though if you're in CarPlay or HD Radio and not on the home screen, you have to go thru a step to get there and make use of it). My main gripe with the 2550 and 2660NEX is that you're more limited in what you can change in the bottom and side docks in those UI's. That said, one aspect of the home screen that I want nothing to do with are the suggestions that come up in the main window for whatever is playing. For example, you'll get the album art or graphics for a given HD Radio station, but then it will show two small icons and information suggesting different stations or media based on what you're listening to. It clutters up the home screen and I don't see a use for it. e.g, You more than likely know which radio stations you'd like to listen to and have set as favorites for the radio. I have yet to look into it more closely, but I am left wondering, given the connected nature of the device, if it might also be collecting data to make suggestions for listening when streaming media. e.g., is the UI simply relaying what iTunes, Android, or Alexa are suggesting or is it doing a separate data collection in order to make suggestions? I ask because I imagine Pioneer has limits with what it can do with its own UI. For example, using widgets on the home screen of the receiver as an example, I've got my iPhone wirelessly connected to the vehicle, which pulls and streams all kinds of data to make CarPlay function, but I have to establish a separate hotspot connection to get the Pioneer weather widget to give me any information? Why not do this via the CarPlay connection or is this Pioneer's workaround for limits that perhaps Apple has put on the CarPlay interface? e.g., there is no weather app in CarPlay, likely to help keep your eyes on the road when you can just ask for the conditions via Siri, and, perhaps Apple keeps the iPhone's CarPlay data contained within its own apps. To boil it down, is Pioneer relaying recommendations from my Music app or is it collecting data from what I'm playing?

-- Last point on the UI: I wish there were a way to do away with the effects imposed on the UI. e.g., the "slow-close" swipe. Give us the option to turn off the eye candy, specifically when the eye candy seems to make the user experience a bit clunky. Just give me/us a smooth swipe that reflects the speed with which I'm trying to do so.

- The apps or widgets on the home screen have little utility, aside from the time and what is playing. It's nice to see the weather, but the receiver first needs to pair with your phone as a hotspot and this doesn't happen by default. I have to go into my settings on my phone, even though it is set up to be accessible as a hotspot, and into the hotspot feature in order for the device to become visible to the receiver and to make a connection, even after I have already set everything up with the password to do so supposedly automatically. I think it's an issue with iPhones, but still, if I have CarPlay (or Android Auto), I can just do a voice command to have Siri tell me the temperature or forecast. Additionally, having tried to simply remove the smaller widget for what is defaulted to sports, I'm not allowed to resize the clock widget to simply take up the space of both items. e.g., you're forced to have it blank or put a widget in the smaller space. Having a browser built into the UI doesn't make much sense either. I've got a smartphone with native browsers built in but I'm going to use a wifi hotspot and a likely slower response on my receiver for surfing? I'm not sure what Pioneer was thinking with these extra widgets, aside from thinking that if they threw some "chrome" on the UI, people would be attracted to something shiny and new. The one scenario where the data-driven widgets makes sense might be if your vehicle has a hotspot built in and would allow for such data to be pulled automatically.

- Volume buttons seem slow in response or unresponsive to multiple taps. e.g., If you wanted to tap the volume up or down a set number of times (something I do on the 2550NEX), there isn't a guarantee that you'll get that number of adjustments in the volume. If you have a relatively quick but steady number of taps, the first will typically register while others that follow are not guaranteed. Or to put it another way, the same types of pushes on a mechanical button on my 2550NEX, which register without fail, are not guaranteed when using this device's touch side bar. Ironically, if you tap one of the volume symbols on the side bar and then move your hand to use the volume adjustment tools that pop up on the screen, the adjustments appear to be much more responsive and reliable as compared to the side bar. Really, Pioneer, the on-screen volume adjustments are more reliable than the dedicated ones on the side bar? Touching back on my "pro" from above, it's only so helpful to have fewer touch zones to work with on the side bar, helping to avoid touching the wrong one, if the responsiveness of the side bar isn't what it needs to be. In terms of UI responsiveness, if you catch the system "thinking" when you press and hold a volume symbol on the side bar, it might take a second or two before it registers and begins to adjust. I did find that pressing and holding the volume symbols offered a consistent volume adjustment, but if there is a delay in response before you start hearing the adjustment beeps through the speakers, it might throw off how much of an adjustment you're looking for.

Why am I giving 3 stars and not lower for all the detailed "Cons" I've offered and likely to keep it? For my purposes, the noted issues are acceptable because my primary uses will avoid a number of them. Similar to my use of the 2550NEX, the majority of my use is done either in HD Radio or in CarPlay, or in CarPlay while listening to HD Radio. In this sense, the home screen is a launch point to get into those functions, but I'm not compelled when listening to the radio to leave that interface and continue listening on the home screen (and get annoyed at the cluttered suggested stations that pop up). My main functionality gripe in keeping it will be the unresponsive UI until everything is fully loaded. Hopefully a firmware upgrade will help.

For the money this was not worth it & I am returning it....it is not user friendly, the volume buttons were very small & the touch screen is not sensitive enough (you have to touch the screen many times before it responds) Also, the installer put the microphone on top of my dash. Didn’t even try to hide it. I went to another Best Buy to talk with someone & a supervisor in the auto section said that the microphone should have been placed in a different area. So if you are planning on having Best Buy install, pick a good one!

Great replace for my stock 2010 camaro ss radio. Been wanting to upgrade for years to a smart radio lol. I only wish they had a true android operating system on it but I have my Google chrome cast hooked up through the HDMI when I need it lol.

I bought two of these to replace the 1330NEX and 1440NEX I had in my vehicles. Both of those models were great and I never had any issues. The main reasons why I changed was because I wanted the better capacitive screen, the smaller chassis and the wireless CarPlay. My initial impressions were good. The screen is definitely better but the new interface takes a while to get used to, in fact it has a lot of stuff that I think makes it unnecessarily complicated. The new operating system also has a lot of glitches, as if they rushed this to market. The wireless CarPlay sometimes doesn’t connect and various systems disappear and reappear. I also don’t see the real need for HDMI since I can play movies from USB, and I’ll probably never use the Alexa.

I’m hoping they come out with future upgrades to fix the issues I’m having because I really like the appearance of this unit. Right now if you just want a better screen, don’t need a small chassis and can do without wireless CarPlay, I’d suggest the much cheaper DMH-2660NEX.

For the most part this Apple car play stereo is great. Connects with my phone almost as soon as I start the ignition. The issues is there has been a few times were it noes not connect at all. I think for the price of the unit all these bugs should be fixed . Maybe in a $259 unit I but not in something of this price.

i finally got this for my old pickup ,, to connect a rear trailer and for hooking up the plow ... i connected to a cigar plug to use whenever needed .. and is not wired to stay in ,, so i can use as needed ..

This backup camera works exactly as I expected. It is a great if not perfect awareness tool for older vehicles without parking sensors or a backup camera. This camera isn’t super fancy but it just plain works. I set mine up to be on when I need or want it as my vehicle has poor visibility out the rear window. I always wondered how close other drivers were getting while I was stopped and now I know. It makes backing up much less stressful as I always have a stiff neck or back when I attempt to turn around in my seat to look. This camera truly helps increase my overall awareness when backing or driving.

I was going to buy a backup camera & I luckily caught this one on sale. I went ahead & purchased. Then I start checking the reviews & watching reviews/installation videos & it seems like its going to be a good one. I'm in process of installing mine as we speak. I'll be sure to change my review if my opinion changes

The view is clear even at night. I am amazed how the camera reveals so clear. It has such clear picture it shows every drop of rain, bugs, and even dust.

The camera is relatively good it does have a few issues at night time especially with there is lighting coming from light

installed this on my 1973 camper, very easy to mount and wire, the large screen is great when reversing.

Purchased for my father and he loves it. He had it installed on his truck and says it was the best gift ever.

We use this as a rear camera when towing our camper. Installation was easy. We just plug it in and drape the cord over the camper and it works excellent. You can see who is coming up behind you and cars in the other lanes when changing lanes. Makes driving with a camper behind you so much easier.
